Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Draws Praise From Browns Star

There’s no shortage of traits that make Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson one of the best players in the NFL today, with his elusiveness being very high on that list.

Shockingly, the quarterback with the most rushing yards in NFL history is pretty hard to bring down. With his nearly unmatched speed and agility at his position, Jackson is simply a nightmare to catch in space for many defenders.

Don’t just take our word for it, though. Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, a three-time All-Pro and reigning Defensive Player of the Year, said himself that Jackson is the hardest quarterback to sack ahead of Saturday’s matchup in Baltimore.

“Absolutely. It’s not even close,” Garrett told reporters Thursday. “There are definitely some other special cats at the quarterback position who are shifty. I mean, Pat (Patrick Mahomes) himself, he has great contact balance, but, I mean, Lamar has that. But he also has speed, he has quickness, is shifty, so he has that tremendous running ability, and he can also throw the ball pretty much anyone on the field right now.”

Even with how hard Jackson is to bring down, Garrett still has 5.5 sacks against him in his career. Part of that is due to playing against him so often as division rivals, but even so, that’s nothing to scoff at.

Many defenses have tried to take Jackson out of the game, but very few have succeeded. Garrett knows it’s not simple at all to contain the two-time MVP.

“Completely? Hell, no. The man’s amazing,” Garrett said. “A couple years back, you would say, ‘Try to keep him in the pocket.’ I think even beginning of the season we were like, ‘Try to keep him in pocket, make him throw as much as possible,’ and now you’re like, ‘[crap], we don’t know what to do.’ He’s been steadily growing year after year. He lost that baby weight. Now he’s back to being lean and fast as hell. So now, whether he breaks the pocket or he stays in the pocket, you’re going to have a rough day because he can do everything.”

Garrett currently has 14 sacks this season, tied with Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals for the most in the league. That’s not his main focus heading into this game, however.

“I mean, I’d rather upset them and mess up their playoff hopes,” Garrett said. “And if the sack title comes along with that, great. Definitely going to do what I can to be disruptive and take eight (Lamar Jackson) out of the game as much as possible. If that comes along with it, outstanding. But at the end of the day, I want to win.”

In a surprising turn of events, Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett recently took to social media to praise Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. The two AFC North rivals have faced off multiple times on the field, but it seems Garrett has nothing but respect for the electrifying quarterback.

Garrett tweeted, “Gotta give credit where it’s due, @Lj_era8 is a special talent. His speed and agility make him a nightmare for defenses. Much respect.”

Jackson, who has been a dual-threat force on the field since entering the league, has garnered praise from many of his peers for his unique playing style and ability to make plays happen with both his arm and his legs. It’s clear that his impact on the game is being recognized by players across the league, even those on rival teams.

It’s always refreshing to see athletes showing sportsmanship and appreciation for each other’s talents, and Garrett’s shoutout to Jackson is just another example of the camaraderie that exists in the NFL. As both players continue to dominate on the field, it’s exciting to see the mutual respect they have for each other’s abilities.

  • Drake Calls Out Those Who Switched Sides on Him During Kendrick Lamar Beef on ‘Fighting Irish’

Drake Calls Out Those Who Switched Sides on Him During Kendrick Lamar Beef on ‘Fighting Irish’

After closing the book on a turbulent 2024, Drake may be looking to make the most of a clean slate in the new year. Conductor Williams, a producer who has worked with the OVO boss, released a brand new Drizzy freestyle on his YouTube page on Friday (Jan. 3).

While the video was quickly taken down, fans grabbed the “Fighting Irish” freestyle and spammed the viral clip across social media. The visual captures Drake’s side profile as he raps through a small, grainy TV screen.

    More from Billboard

On the track, the 6 God gets introspective about the trials and tribulations of his 2024 over Conductor’s gleaming production, and seemingly blasts those who switched sides on him throughout the Kendrick Lamar feud.

“The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets, seemed like they loved every minute/ Just know the s–t is personal to us and wasn’t just business/ Analyzing behavioral patterns is somewhat suspicious,” he raps.

Drake appears to be targeting those he considered close friends, such as NBA stars DeMar DeRozan and LeBron James, who were in attendance for Kendrick’s Pop Out concert in June. The Fighting Irish was also the mascot for LeBron’s high school team when he attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Ohio.

Drizzy also dispels on the track Kendrick’s notion that he has a drinking problem, which Lamar alleged on the diabolical “Meet the Grahams.” “I don’t have a drinkin’ problem, I got a subtle addiction/ I got my father’s habits and I got my mother’s permission,” Drake rhymes.

He also sent a possible subtle jab at Universal Music Group regarding his legal actions alleging that his parent label artificially inflated the popularity of Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss track. “I hate to see their empire crumble on judges’ convictions,” he spews. (UMG denied his allegations, calling them “offensive and untrue” in a November statement to Billboard.)

Drake and Conductor have connected in the past on For All The Dogs tracks such as “8am in Charlotte” and “Stories About My Brother.”

Billboard has reached out to Drake and Conductor Williams for comment about the track and its removal.

Drake is not holding back on his new track “Fighting Irish,” where he calls out those who switched sides on him during his beef with Kendrick Lamar. The Canadian rapper has never been one to shy away from addressing his critics, and on this new song, he’s making it clear that he hasn’t forgotten those who turned their backs on him when things got heated.

In the song, Drake raps about how he felt betrayed by those who claimed to be on his side but ultimately switched allegiances when Kendrick Lamar came for him. He calls out the fakes and phonies who pretended to ride with him but quickly jumped ship when the going got tough.

Drake’s lyrics are sharp and biting, showcasing his trademark wit and wordplay. He doesn’t hold back in expressing his frustration and disappointment at those who he thought were his friends but turned out to be nothing more than fair-weather supporters.

As always, Drake’s authenticity shines through in his music, and “Fighting Irish” is no exception. The track serves as a reminder that loyalty is a rare commodity in the music industry, and Drake is not afraid to call out those who have shown their true colors.

Fans of Drake are sure to appreciate his honesty and raw emotion on “Fighting Irish,” as he continues to solidify his status as one of the biggest names in hip-hop. This track is a powerful reminder that when it comes to loyalty, actions speak louder than words.

  • Stephen A. Smith wishes ESPN colleague kept up this take on Lamar Jackson

Stephen A. Smith wishes ESPN colleague kept up this take on Lamar Jackson

Another pair of ESPN analysts have found themselves at public odds this week as Stephen A. Smith took exception with Ryan Clark’s social media decorum after the former NFL safety faced harsh backlash for his perspective on Lamar Jackson

With Jackson compiling one of the most statistically impressive seasons in NFL history and in the hunt for a second-straight MVP award, Clark reflected back on the oft-scrutinized history of dual-threat quarterbacks and hoped that the Ravens dynamo’s overwhelming success will shut down this skepticism for good.

“I want to say it to [Cam Newton]. I want to say it to Randall Cunningham. I want to say it to Russell Wilson, and I want to say it to Michael Vick,”Clark said. “This is the evolution of the position. Without Randall Cunningham having to try to conform and be a pocket passer and also show his athleticism, we don’t get to Michael Vick. And without Michael Vick accepting that and working to become a better passer, working to become a better leader — we don’t get a Cam Newton. And if Cam Newton doesn’t bring the style of play that he had an opportunity to bring from Auburn to the NFL — and win an MVP doing it — we don’t have a Lamar Jackson.”

Stephen A. Smith did not appreciate Clark’s approach on social media (Photo: Paras Griffin, Getty)

Clark made these remarks while filling in for Smith as a host on First Take, and his perspective on Jackson prompted a fiery social media discussion about the role of race in evaluating quarterbacks. Smith expressed frustration with Clark not for his opinion, of which the men are in agreement, but for his ultimate decision to delete his message from social media.

“So, I’m pretty ticked off at Ryan Clark deleted his tweet, according to the reports. What you take it done for? You were right,” Smith said. “His point may not have been articulated as perfectly as he would’ve liked and he might’ve left a hole here for someone to at least question it, but his overall point, I firmly understand — and he was right. If Lamar Jackson wins the Super Bowl, that’s going to go a long way to us ever questioning again whether a cat can do it at that position, being a dual-threat — a quarterback that can run…”

In a recent interview, Stephen A. Smith expressed his admiration for his ESPN colleague Dan Orlovsky’s unwavering support for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Smith stated that he wishes more people in the sports media industry would maintain Orlovsky’s perspective on Jackson’s talents and potential.

Orlovsky has been a vocal advocate for Jackson since his college days at Louisville, often defending him against critics who question his abilities as a quarterback. Despite facing scrutiny and skepticism from some analysts, Orlovsky has consistently praised Jackson for his unique skill set and playmaking ability.

Smith commended Orlovsky for staying true to his beliefs and not succumbing to the prevailing narratives surrounding Jackson. He emphasized the importance of having diverse opinions and perspectives in sports media, especially when it comes to evaluating young and emerging talents like Jackson.

As the debate around Jackson continues to evolve, Smith hopes that more analysts will follow Orlovsky’s lead and give credit where credit is due. He believes that Jackson’s success on the field speaks for itself and deserves to be recognized and celebrated by the sports media community.

  • Lamar Jackson misses Beyoncé’s halftime show after vowing to leave locker room to watch Christmas performance

Lamar Jackson misses Beyoncé’s halftime show after vowing to leave locker room to watch Christmas performance

Lamar Jackson has done many things in his 27 years. He’s a two-time NFL MVP, two-time first-team All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowler, Heisman Trophy winner, holds the record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season and the most rushing yards by a quarterback ever in NFL history. But there’s one thing he’s always wanted to do that he hasn’t checked off the list: see Beyoncé perform live.

That was all going to change on Christmas, or at least that was Jackson’s plan.

The week leading up to the game, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback was asked if he was sad to miss Beyoncé’s Christmas Day show, as it was taking place at halftime of his game against the Houston Texans. Laughing, the former first rounder shook his head, insisting that he wouldn’t miss the performance because he was planning to sneak out of the locker room to watch.

“First time seeing Beyoncé perform and it’s at our game?! That’s dope,” said Jackson, followed by an apology to his head coach John Harbaugh. “I’m gonna go out and watch, sorry Harbaugh, sorry. Sorry fellas.”

Millions, even non-football fans, tuned into the game to watch Beyoncé take the stage, but sadly for Jackson, he didn’t catch the highly anticipated performance, Harbaugh told the Netflix broadcast coming out of halftime. As all eyes were on Beyoncé, Harbaugh’s eyes were on his quarterback, making sure he remained in the locker room.

Harbaugh didn’t have to tell Jackson to stay in the locker room — the 27-year-old did that on his own — but the coach admitted that he did check to see if he was there. According to the broadcast, you could hear Beyoncé from the locker room, so while Jackson didn’t get the visuals, he at least got to hear the music.

After the 31-2 victory over the Texans, Jackson explained why he didn’t go back to the field to watch the show.

“I was locked in,” he said, but confirmed that he could faintly hear her from where he was.

Beyonce did tease an announcement on social media after her performance. Her video ended with “1.14.25,” suggesting that something big is coming on Jan. 14.

If it ends up being a tour announcement, as many are speculating, Jackson will have another chance to catch her live, and this would be for more than 15 minutes.

Lamar Jackson misses Beyoncé’s halftime show after vowing to leave locker room to watch Christmas performance

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made headlines when he announced he would be leaving the locker room during halftime of the team’s game to watch Beyoncé’s highly-anticipated performance. However, it seems Jackson got his dates mixed up, as Beyoncé’s halftime show was actually scheduled for next week’s game.

Instead of catching a glimpse of Queen Bey, Jackson was left disappointed as he sat in the locker room watching a Christmas performance on the TV. Despite the mix-up, Jackson took the mishap in stride, jokingly saying, “I guess I’ll have to wait until next week to see Beyoncé. At least I got to enjoy some festive music in the meantime.”

Fans were quick to poke fun at Jackson’s blunder on social media, with many sharing memes and jokes about the quarterback’s missed opportunity. However, Jackson’s good-natured response to the situation only endeared him further to his fans.

Although he may have missed out on seeing Beyoncé this time around, Jackson has already marked his calendar for next week’s game to ensure he doesn’t make the same mistake twice. Who knows, maybe Beyoncé will even give a shoutout to the quarterback during her performance as a nod to his dedication.

  • Eminem breaks silence after Kendrick Lamar dethrones the rap god

Eminem breaks silence after Kendrick Lamar dethrones the rap god

Eminem and Kendrick Lamar are facing off in the 2025 Grammys
Eminem and Kendrick Lamar are facing off in the 2025 Grammys

Eminem is placing his bets on Kendrick Lamar to sweep the 2025 Grammy Awards, even though the two rap icons will face off in the Best Rap Performance category.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Shade45 during its 20th-anniversary celebration, the rap icon praised Lamar’s monumental year, calling him a “top-tier lyricist” and declaring that “Kendrick is gonna sweep that sh*t. He’s going to, and he should.”

Lamar, already crowned Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star of 2024, has seven Grammy nominations, including double entries in some categories thanks to hits like his Drake diss track Not Like Us and his collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin on Like That.

Both songs dominated the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024, solidifying his grip on the industry.

Moreover, K.Dot’s album GNX also outperformed Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady on the charts, debuting with 319,000 equivalent album units compared to Eminem’s 281,000, and setting the year’s biggest streaming week for an R&B/hip-hop album with 379.72 million on-demand streams.

Meanwhile, Eminem’s own Grammy nods include Best Rap Performance for his single Houdini and Best Rap Album for The Death of Slim Shady. Lamar’s GNX, however, won’t be competing this year due to its release outside the 2025 Grammy eligibility period.

This isn’t the first time Eminem has publicly praised Lamar. The two shared the stage at the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show and have long expressed mutual respect. “Kendrick is at the very, very top tier of lyricists,” Eminem said, adding, “Not just of this generation, but of all time.”

After Kendrick Lamar’s recent rise to the top of the rap game, dethroning long-reigning rap god Eminem, fans have been eagerly waiting to hear from the Detroit native himself. And now, Eminem has finally broken his silence on the matter.

In a recent interview, Eminem congratulated Kendrick Lamar on his success and praised his talent and work ethic. He acknowledged that Lamar’s skills as a lyricist and storyteller have earned him the respect and admiration of both fans and fellow artists.

Despite being surpassed by Lamar in terms of critical acclaim and commercial success, Eminem remains confident in his own abilities and legacy in the rap world. He expressed his willingness to continue pushing the boundaries of his artistry and evolving as an artist.

Fans of both Eminem and Kendrick Lamar can only hope that this friendly rivalry will continue to inspire both artists to create groundbreaking music that will shape the future of hip-hop.

  • Kendrick Lamar Is Gonna Sweep

    Kendrick Lamar Is Gonna Sweep

Eminem is betting on Kendrick Lamar to dominate the 67th annual Grammy Awards.

The Detroit rap icon shared his predictions for the upcoming ceremony in a recent interview. Eminem didn’t mince words when praising the Compton emcee. “The competition is tough, but Kendrick is going to sweep it. He deserves to,” he declared in a clip from the broadcast.

Kendrick’s hit “Not Like Us” is a frontrunner in several major categories, including Record of the Year. The track is up against fierce contenders like Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” and Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone.

It’s also nominated for Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. Lamar even secured additional nods in the latter two categories for his contributions to Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That.”

Eminem himself is in the running for Best Rap Performance with his track “Houdini,” a standout from his latest project, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). He faces stiff competition from Cardi B’s “Enough (Miami),” Doechii’s “NISSAN ALTIMA,” Common and Pete Rock’s “When the Sun Shines Again,” and GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!” Eminem is also eyeing the Best Rap Album award for Coup De Grâce, a project that has sparked significant buzz.

In a twist of irony, Eminem name-checked Kendrick more than once on Coup De Grâce, notably on tracks like “Lucifer” and the album opener, “Renaissance.” On the latter, he critiques critics while referencing Lamar:

“‘Kendrick’s album was cool, but it didn’t have any bangers’/ ‘Wayne’s album or Ye’s, couldn’t tell you which one was lamer,’” he raps, adding, “You nerdy pricks would find somethin’ wrong with 36 Chambers/ It’s what they do to the greats/ Pick apart a Picasso and make excuses to hate.”

The mutual respect between the two artists runs deep. Eminem previously invited Lamar to join him on stage at the 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime show, where Kendrick delivered a powerful performance of “m.A.A.d city.” In a full-circle moment, Lamar is set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show for the first time in February 2025.

With Grammy buzz at an all-time high, both Eminem and Kendrick Lamar remain at the forefront of hip-hop, proving their enduring influence on the genre.

With the Grammy Awards just around the corner, it’s time to make some bold predictions. And one thing is for sure – Kendrick Lamar is gonna sweep.

The critically acclaimed rapper has been dominating the music scene with his powerful lyrics, unparalleled flow, and thought-provoking themes. With multiple nominations in various categories, including Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Performance, Kendrick Lamar is poised to take home multiple trophies on music’s biggest night.

His groundbreaking album “DAMN.” has not only topped the charts but has also resonated with fans and critics alike for its raw honesty and social commentary. With his unmatched talent and impact on the industry, it’s hard to imagine anyone else coming close to the level of success that Kendrick Lamar has achieved.

So mark my words – Kendrick Lamar is gonna sweep the Grammys this year. And rightfully so. His music transcends boundaries and speaks to a generation in a way that few artists can. Get ready for a night filled with Kendrick Lamar’s well-deserved victories.

Eminem Believes Kendrick Lamar Is Going to ‘Sweep’ 2025 Grammy Awards

Kendrick Lamar was rap’s undoubted MVP of 2024 and Billboard‘s Greatest Pop Star of the Year, and Eminem thinks his epic run is going to continue into 2025.

While Em and Lamar will be facing off in the best rap performance category at the 2025 Grammy Awards, Eminem believes that K. Dot is going to “sweep” all seven of his nominations come Feb. 2.

    More from Billboard

Slim Shady and Paul Rosenberg celebrated 20 years since the launch of their SiriusXM station Shade45 on Christmas Eve when they joined DJ Whoo Kid for an interview on the channel, which ended with Em giving Lamar his props.

“It’s very stiff competition,” Eminem said of his Grammy-nominated peers. “Kendrick is gonna sweep that sh–. He’s going to, and he should.”

Across Lamar’s seven noms, there are categories where he’s double-dipping with dual consideration thanks to his Mustard-produced “Not Like Us” Drake diss and his assist on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” both of which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024.

Eminem is competing in a stacked best rap performance category with his The Death of Slim Shady lead single “Houdini” in the mix.

The Detroit icon also earned a nomination in the best rap album category for The Death of Slim Shady, which Lamar’s GNX won’t be in since it was released outside of the Grammy calendar for 2025 so it will compete for a nom at the 2026 awards.

Eminem has long hailed Kendrick Lamar’s greatness as he declared that K. Dot was “at the very, very top tier of lyricists. Not just of this generation, but of all time.”

They also hit the Super Bowl stage together in 2022 when the big game came to Los Angeles for the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show headlined by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.

Listen to the full interview below. Kendrick’s Grammy talk begins shortly after the 30-minute mark.

Lamar Jackson passes Michael Vick for most rushing yards by NFL QB

HOUSTON — On a day when Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson didn’t feel like he was running at top speed — even though he was clocked at over 21 mph — the reigning NFL MVP added another title: the all-time leading rushing quarterback.

In running away with a 31-2 Christmas Day victory over the Houston Texans, Jackson ran just enough to surpass Michael Vick for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in NFL history. With 87 yards Wednesday, Jackson now has 6,110 career rushing yards, which is one more than Vick’s total.

Jackson broke the record with a 6-yard scramble in the third quarter that set up his 1-yard touchdown pass to tight end Mark Andrews.

“It feels unreal, to be honest with you,” Jackson said. “I’m grateful because that’s a record that’s been there for a long time. Michael Vick is one of my favorite players. That’s just dope.”

Vick held the record for 13 years after he eclipsed Randall Cunningham for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in October 2011.

The most impressive part of Jackson breaking Vick’s mark is the speed in which he did it. Vick needed 143 games over 13 years to amass his total, while Jackson broke the record in 102 games over seven seasons.

“That kind of speaks for itself,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “Sometimes, I just shake my head and say, ‘That was really a great play. That was a great play.’ I’ve seen a lot of great plays from Lamar Jackson. I told him I was proud of him. I’m not just proud of him just because he makes great plays. I’m proud of him for all the things that go into making great plays and also for all the things he’s overcome along the way.”

The Ravens (11-5) are one win away from repeating as AFC North champions after Jackson put the game away in the third quarter. With Baltimore up 17-2, Jackson rushed 48 yards to the end zone without being touched.

Jackson’s maximum speed on that run was 21.25 mph, the highest top speed of his career as a ball carrier. Jackson gave a quizzical look when told of the speed he clocked.

“For real?” Jackson replied. “I was jogging.”

Jackson overtook Vick in a season in which he has run the fewest number of times. He even was criticized by his mother following a 24-19 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 1 for not running more. Jackson’s average rushing attempts are 8.4 per game — the first season he has been below nine carries per game.

On Wednesday, he delivered a reminder of how he can beat teams with his legs. He totaled 87 yards on four carries, including the 48-yard touchdown run — the third-longest rush of his career.

Jackson has four rushing scores of 40 yards or longer, which ties Kordell Stewart for the most by any quarterback since 1950.

“I’ve never seen someone run the ball like Lamar at quarterback — or honestly any other position,” Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley said. “The effortless nature of the way he runs the ball and makes these defenders not look as fast as they are, so I’m impressed by everything he does every day.”

It was not a perfect day for Jackson. Earlier this week, he talked about watching Beyoncé’s halftime show at NRG Stadium. But Jackson was nowhere to be found on the field when the 32-time Grammy winner performed.

“I was locked in,” Jackson said. “I was in here in the locker room preparing for the second half.”

In a historic moment for NFL quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson has surpassed Michael Vick for the most rushing yards in a single season by a QB. Jackson’s dynamic running ability has been on full display all season, and he has now etched his name in the record books with this incredible feat.

Vick was long considered the gold standard for dual-threat quarterbacks, but Jackson has taken his game to another level. His speed, elusiveness, and vision have made him a nightmare for opposing defenses, and he has proven to be a game-changer with his legs as well as his arm.

With this record-breaking performance, Jackson has solidified his place as one of the most electrifying players in the league and a true dual-threat weapon. It’s only fitting that he has surpassed Vick, a player who paved the way for quarterbacks like him to thrive in the NFL.

As Jackson continues to rewrite the record books and dazzle fans with his play, there’s no telling what he will accomplish next. One thing is for certain, though – he is a once-in-a-generation talent who is revolutionizing the quarterback position. Congratulations to Lamar Jackson on this incredible achievement! #NFL #LamarJackson #MichaelVick #RecordBreaking #DualThreatQB
