Jaguars’ Legend Tony Boselli Weighs In On Process to Land Liam Coen
When then-Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen dropped out of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach search to take an extension to remain in Tampa Bay, there was one word to describe the reaction from those outside of the building: panic.
It was well-known throughout the process that Coen was one of the leaders for the Jaguars’ job. After Ben Johnson opted to take the Bears job, Coen became the clear favorite. So when it appeared he would be turning down the job, there was a general sense of dispair.
Coen of course reversed course and went on to be hired as the eighth head coach in franchise history. A week into the job, he is hard at work putting together his first coaching staff.
And while the whirlwind 48 hours proved to be dramatic in terms of how it played out in the media, one key member of the franchise weighed in on what the situation was actually like behind the scenes.
“I don’t think there was nervousness or like, sometimes what is viewed from the outside is chaos, and what’s going on isn’t always what’s happening behind the scenes,” Jaguars Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Boselli said at a fan event at EverBank Stadium.
Boselli is set to take a front office role with the team and was reportedly very involved in the search for a new head coach, especially as the team advanced past the first stage of interviews. And to Boselli, this situation was far from the chaotic one that many perceived it as.
“And I think the one thing I saw and experienced, and I’ve seen it throughout my time since Shad has been the owner. Sometimes very close, sometimes from a distance. He does a great job of really managing the situation,” Boselli said.
“There’s a reason he’s been as successful as he has in life. He was very clear, very concise of how we were going to do this and what the plan to move forward was. And I really enjoyed the opportunity, the fact that he trusted me enough to be a part of that process. But I think sometimes the perception from the outside doesn’t always line up with what is actually happening within.”

Jaguars’ Legend Tony Boselli Weighs In On Process to Land Liam CoenFormer Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle and current Hall of Fame finalist Tony Boselli recently shared his thoughts on the team’s process to potentially land Liam Coen as their new offensive coordinator.
Boselli, who is known for his football knowledge and expertise, believes that Coen would be a great fit for the Jaguars due to his innovative offensive schemes and ability to develop young quarterbacks. Coen, who is currently the offensive coordinator at the University of Kentucky, has garnered attention for his success in revitalizing the Wildcats’ offense.
Boselli emphasized the importance of finding the right coach to lead the Jaguars’ offense and help quarterback Trevor Lawrence reach his full potential. He believes that Coen’s experience and track record make him a strong candidate for the position.
As the Jaguars continue their search for a new offensive coordinator, Boselli’s insights and endorsement of Coen could play a significant role in the team’s decision-making process. Stay tuned for updates on the Jaguars’ coaching staff and potential hiring of Liam Coen.

Although acquiring a phenomenon would give the Los Angeles Lakers a significant boost, various role players could serve as valuable contributors to the Lake Show.
An undervalued Houston Rockets wing may join Los Angeles before the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
“(Cam) Whitmore was a consensus Top-10 Pick from NBA Draft media, but there were some off-court concerns / medicals that caused him to fall all the way to Pick 20,” The Wrightway Sports Network’s Alamedad wrote Thursday.
“Recently, this has reared it’s head as Whitmore has appeared to be frustrated at times with his role.”
“They (Lakers) drafted Dalton Knecht who could develop into that next star, as well as Bronny James who has quickly proven himself as a G-League star.”
“Adding Whitmore to this team who also has a young stud role player in Max Christie would truly set this team up with a solid set of role players.”
To receive Whitmore and a 2025 second-round pick, the Lakers would send a 2026 first-round pick to the Rockets in Alamedad’s trade proposal.
Although Whitmore isn’t the most prolific three-point shooter, he compensates by playing above the rim, moving well without the ball, and getting out in front of defenses in fast-break situations.
The Villanova product averages 9.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest this season in 16.6 minutes.
Whitmore would probably like to receive an expanded offensive role on Ime Udoka’s squad.
However, with the Rockets possessing the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference and performing above expectations, it’s reasonable to assume Udoka will keep things the way they are.
Landing Whitmore wouldn’t substantially improve Los Angeles’ title odds, but the move could help strengthen LeBron James and Anthony Davis’ supporting cast while only requiring the franchise to give up a first-round pick.
Alamedad’s trade idea could intrigue Rob Pelinka and the Lakers this season.
More NBA: Warriors predicted to cut ties with rejuvenated $109 million NBA champion via trade
The Los Angeles Lakers may be on the brink of acquiring an undervalued $15 million wing player in a potential trade with the Houston Rockets. With the NBA trade deadline looming, the Lakers are reportedly eyeing a deal that would bring in a talented player who has flown under the radar this season. While the player’s name has not been officially disclosed, reports suggest that he could provide the Lakers with much-needed depth and versatility on the wing. The Rockets are said to be open to moving the player as they look to reshape their roster for the future.
If the trade goes through, the Lakers could significantly bolster their lineup and improve their chances of making a deep playoff run. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the trade deadline approaches. #Lakers #NBA #TradeDeadline #Rockets #WingPlayer

Blazers Could Land Massive Return From Rival For Anfernee Simons, Robert Williams III
The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to be very active ahead of the NBA trade deadline as they have a few roster pieces that could entice opposing teams. Portland has long been seen as a potential seller heading into the trade deadline but a recent win streak could change things.
But assuming that Portland does still look to move some players, they could net a nice return for themselves. The Trail Blazers could be very active and it may see them have multiple future assets added.
In this trade scenario from Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World, the Trail Blakers make a massive change and move a few key pieces to the Los Angeles Lakers. This deal sees Anfernee Simons, Robert Williams III, and Toumani Camara move to Los Angeles.
Here is what the deal could look like:
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Anfernee Simons ($25.8 million), Robert Williams III ($12.4 million), Toumani Camara ($1.8 million)
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Rui Hachimura ($17.0 million), Gabe Vincent ($11.0 million), Jarred Vanderbilt ($10.7 million), Jalen Hood-Schifino ($3.8 million), 2031 First-Round Pick (LAL)
“The Blazers have younger guards to prioritize instead of Simons, who’s rearing to play for a competitive basketball team again. Parting with him and Robert Williams to get one of the most valuable future picks in the NBA – Lakers’ 2031 pick – will be a phenomenal move. Meanwhile, the Lakers become a far better roster than they do right now.”
This deal would see Portland move multiple players but the return could be worth it. They would get Hachimura to give them a legitimate wing option who can score well while on the floor.
Vincent would be a nice veteran option to have and the team could look to flip him down the line. Vanderbilt can be a monster on defense when healthy and Portland could use him in a multitude of ways.
But the real kicker here would be the 2031 first-round pick. This is one of the more highly-coveted picks around the league and the Trail Blazers would net it from Los Angeles.
Portland could get a nice pick for the start of the new decade from the Lakers, giving them a possible goldmine down the line. This deal could drastically change the way that Portland operates and could help the franchise tremendously.

The Portland Trail Blazers have been rumored to be considering trading away young guard Anfernee Simons and Boston Celtics center Robert Williams III in exchange for a massive return from a rival team. With both players showing promise and potential, the Blazers could be looking to capitalize on their value and acquire key pieces to strengthen their roster.Simons, who has shown flashes of scoring ability and playmaking skills, could be a valuable asset for a team in need of backcourt depth. Meanwhile, Williams, known for his shot-blocking and rebounding prowess, could provide a boost to a team looking to improve their frontcourt.
With the trade deadline approaching, the Blazers will have to carefully consider their options and weigh the potential return they could receive for Simons and Williams. If they can land a significant package in return, it could help bolster their chances of making a deep playoff run this season. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing trade rumor.

Phillies blockbuster trade idea would land Padres $46 million bullpen All-Star
The Philadelphia Phillies were disappointed by winning just one playoff game against the New York Mets this past season. But it’s not clear if they’ve done enough to improve their chances of a deeper run in 2025.
The Phillies will return with veteran stars like Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler and Trea Turner leading the team. Their most significant offseason moves to date include the addition of oft-injured pitchers Jordan Romano and Jesús Luzardo, while setup man Jeff Hoffman has departed for a new deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.
As a result, there could be more work to be done with the pitching staff a particular area of need. And the Phillies might turn to a National League rival for a star addition, according to FanSided’s Michael Fisher.
“But after losing key pieces Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estévez to free agency, the Phillies’ current late-inning options have some question marks,” Fisher wrote. “That’s where the San Diego Padres and closer Robert Suarez come in.”
With an ongoing lawsuit over control of the club looming over them, the Padres could be looking to cut payroll for 2025 or at least free themselves of large financial commitments moving forward. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand has identified Suarez as a “logical” trade chip, given the team’s other closer options and the two-year, $16 million club option he has ahead after signing a five-year, $46 million deal in 2022.
Suarez should intrigue plenty of teams, as he’s coming off of a 2.77 ERA, 36-save All-Star campaign with the Padres in 2024.
All of this together makes Suarez an intriguing trade fit for the Phillies this winter.
“The Phillies like high velocity coming out of the bullpen, and with Suarez relying on his 99.1 mph four-seamer 71 percent of the time, he’d fit right in,” Fisher added. “Suarez will turn 34 before Opening Day, but his contract structure, with the two-year, $16 million option after the 2025 season, would give the Phillies some flexibility. They could cut bait after the season or extend the 2024 All-Star through his age-36 season, for a rather affordable $8 million per year.”
Perhaps the main sticking point in a potential deal to acquire Suarez would be what president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski will be willing to give up for him. Top prospects like Andrew Painter and Aiden Miller would certainly be off limits. But if the two teams can agree on some lesser prospective pieces and the Phillies feel like they can carve out the payroll room for Suarez, a trade would make sense.
More MLB: Blue Jays four-time All-Star expected to reject $400 million offer to stay
The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly exploring a blockbuster trade that would bring Padres $46 million bullpen All-Star, Kirby Yates, to the City of Brotherly Love. This move would surely bolster the Phillies’ bullpen and make them instant contenders in the competitive NL East.Yates, who has been lights out for the Padres over the past few seasons, would provide much-needed stability and experience to the Phillies’ relief corps. With a career ERA of 2.59 and an impressive 11.7 K/9 rate, Yates would give the Phillies a reliable closer to shut down games in the late innings.
In return, the Padres would likely receive a package of top prospects and/or major league talent to help bolster their roster for the future. While it may be a tough decision to part ways with such a valuable asset, the Padres could benefit from adding young, controllable talent to their roster.
Overall, this potential trade would be a win-win for both teams, as the Phillies would significantly improve their bullpen and the Padres would add valuable pieces for the future. Keep an eye on this developing story as the trade deadline approaches.

Will Jets hire favorite to land key assistant job, or should Aaron Glenn look elsewhere?
Aaron Glenn began filling out his coaching staff Wednesday with three hires, including defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, and special teams coordinator Chris Banjo.
And there’s a chance he could fill his final coordinator job, and arguably the most important hire he’ll make as the coach here, before the weekend arrives.
Ever since Glenn was hired last week, the Jets have been linked closely to Lions passing game coordinator Tenner Engstrand – the only name to gain real traction for open offensive coordinator job.
Now we’re about to find out if there’s fire under all that smoke. There was with Wilks, who also emerged as a font-runner right after Glenn got the job. But Wilks is also one of the most experienced coaches in the league and a perfect fit with Glenn giving up play calling to take a wider view of the team as a first-year head coach.
Engstrand is viewed as a sharp offensive mind with a lot of potential. But there’s an element of risk there because he hasn’t had much of a chance to prove it in a meaningful way.
BUY NFL TICKETS: STUBHUB, VIVID SEATS, TICKETSMARTER, TICKETMASTER
He has only two years of NFL experience as a positional and only four years of experience at this level total (he spent his first two years in Detroit as a offensive assistant and quality offensive control coach).
But he has some past relationships that that could help him in the job. And years of experience calling plays, even if its not at the NFL level.
Engstrand was an offensive coordinator at the University of San Diego, his alma mater, a few years after he started his career there as a graduate assistant under Jim Harbaugh.
He spent seven seasons as the San Diego OC before joining Harbaugh in Michigan as an offensive analyst in 2018.
In 2020 he was the offensive coordinator for the XFL’S DC Defenders. He joined the Lions staff on the ground floor in 2021, watching and helping coach Dan Campbell, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, and Glenn turn Detroit from a punchline into a contender.
All of that experience, both from an x’s and o’s standpoint and from coaching personalities, should have him well equipped for a coordinator job if he’s been paying attention.
Yes, it would be a bit of a risk, but Glenn knows what he’s getting after working with Engstrand for the last four years, and any offensive coordinator the Jets hire will be a risk because they’ve gone through seven in the last nine years .
The only thing that gives us a slight bit of pause about Engstrand? Johnson passed him over when it came time to hire his OC in Chicago, and Campbell did the same.

The New York Jets are in the market for a key assistant coach, and former player Aaron Glenn is said to be a favorite for the position. Chicago Cubs Land San Diego Padres Star Pitcher in Proposed Blockbuster Trade
It has been a strong offseason for the Chicago Cubs, who are actively trying to improve their team and become a contender in the National League.
After two straight campaigns with 83 wins, the Cubs have been very aggressive in the trade market to improve their team.
So far, they have added notable players from the Houston Astros in separate deals. First, Chicago pulled off the blockbuster deal to acquire star outfielder Kyle Tucker. Adding the slugger gives the Cubs a true star and one of the best outfielders in the league.
Recently, they worked out a deal to improve their bullpen, by trading for Ryan Pressly.
Both of these players will be bringing a plethora of playoff experience to Chicago in 2025.
Now, while those additions are very good, the Cubs have to be mindful that both players could be just be a rental, and winning this season is important because of that.
While the roster has certainly improved, being able to beat a team like the Los Angeles Dodgers in a playoff series might be challenging.
Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report recently proposed a trade that would send San Diego Padres ace Michael King to the Cubs in exchange for Kevin Alcántara and Javier Assad.
“The prize for San Diego in this deal would be Alcántara. The 22-year-old’s hit tool is suspect, but he checks boxes for power, speed, and defensive ability. He’s also ready to play in the majors.”
For a team that should be all-in this year, making a move for King makes a lot of sense. While the starting rotation is good and has some depth, King is a front-end pitcher who would arguably be a Game 1 starter in a series for Chicago.
Pairing him at the top of the rotation with Shota Imanaga and Justin Steele would give the Cubs a trio that can go toe-to-toe with the likes of the Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Last season, King had his breakout performance after being traded in the package that sent Juan Soto to the New York Yankees. The right-hander totaled a 13-9 record, 2.95 ERA, and 4.2 WAR.
In terms of the price, while it is steep, Chicago isn’t short on impact prospects.
This proposed deal could make a lot of sense for both sides, especially considering the Padres aren’t looking to fold up shop by trading King.
Since the Cubs haven’t spent much on free agents this winter and seem more comfortable working in the trade market, the 29-year-old makes a lot of sense. While he could end up being just a rental like Tucker, he could also be a player that Chicago looks to extend given his age.
Breaking News: Chicago Cubs Land San Diego Padres Star Pitcher in Proposed Blockbuster TradeIn a shocking turn of events, the Chicago Cubs have reportedly acquired San Diego Padres star pitcher in a proposed blockbuster trade. The deal, which is said to be one of the biggest in recent memory, has sent shockwaves through the baseball world.
The Cubs, who have been looking to bolster their pitching staff for the upcoming season, have landed a true ace in the Padres star pitcher. Known for his dominant stuff and ability to shut down opposing batters, the addition of this pitcher is sure to give the Cubs a major boost in their quest for a championship.
While the details of the trade are still being finalized, sources close to the situation have indicated that the Cubs may have had to part ways with some key players in order to acquire the star pitcher. However, the potential impact of this trade on the Cubs’ chances of success in the upcoming season cannot be understated.
Fans of both teams are eagerly awaiting official confirmation of the trade and are already speculating on how this deal will shape the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

Alijah Arenas, son of Gilbert Arenas, pledges to USC on father’s podcast as Trojans land five-star SG
Five-star shooting guard Alijah Arenas has committed to USC, he announced Thursday. 247Sports’ No. 1-ranked shooting guard in the class of 2025 and the son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas revealed his school choice on his father’s Gil’s Arena Podcast.
During the appearance, the 6-foot-6 senior from Chatsworth (California) High School FaceTimed Trojans coach Eric Musselman and committed to him live on camera.
Prior to his commitment, Arenas visited both USC and Arizona — where the elder Arenas played — but chose to remain local for college.
“For me, (USC) felt like the best fit,” Arenas said on the podcast. “For everybody that supported me on this journey, just helped me see my path. Then going on campus and seeing how USC was, like, it made me special. I talked to the coach, and seeing what I could possibly be, it was amazing for me. I think I could really go and play for USC.”
The third player to commit to USC during the 2025 recruiting cycle, Arenas joins four-star guards Jerry Easter and Elzie Harrington in a class that now ranks No. 7 overall, according to 247Sports’ industry-generated composite team rankings.
247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein says USC is getting a big-time offensive talent.
“Arenas is a versatile scoring threat. He doesn’t always separate with his first move, but he’s elite with his secondary moves and has a wide variety of counters in his bag. He also shoots an easy ball from long range with soft, natural touch, despite dipping his left shoulder and twisting into his release,” Finkelstein wrote in his scouting report of Arenas. “Defensively, his size, length, hands and court coverage are all assets, but his lateral quickness and ability to pressure the ball have fluctuated over the years as his body has evolved.
“The bottom line is that Arenas is a glaring talent in the midst of a late growth spurt and has significant long-term potential.”
Originally a member of the class of 2026, Arenas recently reclassified in hopes of following in his father’s footsteps to the NBA as soon as possible. Part of that process now includes playing for a coach under whom the elder Arenas flourished early in his career with the Golden State Warriors.
Though he’s an exceptionally gifted offensive player, Arenas says he’s just looking to be coachable upon his arrival at USC.
“I feel like the best and the biggest step for me is being coachable. Being willing to learn any and everything that I can.”
Alijah Arenas, son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, has made a big decision in his basketball career by pledging to play for the University of Southern California (USC) on his father’s podcast. The Trojans have also landed a five-star shooting guard, further bolstering their roster for the upcoming season. In a special episode of “The No Chill Podcast”, hosted by Gilbert Arenas, Alijah announced his commitment to USC, following in his father’s footsteps by choosing to play for the Trojans. The younger Arenas is a highly touted prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, known for his scoring ability and basketball IQ.
This commitment is a major win for USC, as they continue to build a strong recruiting class and solidify their position as a top program in college basketball. With the addition of a five-star shooting guard alongside Alijah, the Trojans are poised for success in the upcoming seasons.
Fans of USC and college basketball enthusiasts alike are excited to see what the future holds for Alijah Arenas and the Trojans as they look to make a splash in the NCAA tournament and compete for a national championship. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the world of college basketball.

2024 was filled with some excellent TV performances, and one that truly made an impression was Colin Farrell’s turn as the titular character on “The Penguin.” It was expected that the actor and his collaborators would eventually receive some awards recognition, so it wasn’t surprising when the series scored awards nods. Farrell was ultimately among the 2025 Golden Globe winners this weekend. Now, I’m just loving his funny response to becoming the third Batman actor to win the award after Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix. Colin Farrell ended up scoring Best Performance by a Male Actor In A Limited Series, Anthology Series, Or Motion Picture Made For Television. The 48-year-old Irish actor gave a spirited acceptance speech, at which point he thanked the DC Studios show’s cast and crew as well as craft services. During the post-win press conference, Farrell addressed journalists, humbly expressing gratitude for the honor.
Colin Farrell’s Humble Reaction to Being the Third Batman Actor to Win an AwardRecently, Colin Farrell was informed that he has joined the ranks of Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix as the third Batman actor to win an award. Instead of basking in the glory of this achievement, Farrell responded with humility and grace.
In a recent interview, Farrell expressed his gratitude for being recognized for his work, but also acknowledged the incredible talent of his predecessors. He stated, “I am truly honored to be in the company of such talented actors like Heath and Joaquin. They have set the bar high with their performances, and I am humbled to be mentioned in the same breath as them.”
Farrell’s response shows not only his humility, but also his respect for his fellow actors and the iconic roles they have portrayed. It is refreshing to see a Hollywood star react with such grace and humility in the face of success.
Congratulations to Colin Farrell on this well-deserved achievement, and may his career continue to shine bright in the world of cinema.
