  • Tucker Carlson’s Son Lands Cushy Nepo Job in White House

Tucker Carlson ’s son has scored a nice gig in Washington.

Buckley Carlson, 28, will soon begin work as a deputy press secretary in J.D. Vance’s office, sources told ABC News on Monday.

The hire is sure to revive calls of nepotism that were whispered in conservative circles in 2022 when Buckley, a 2019 University of Virginia graduate, was the communications director for then-Rep. Jim Banks. His most recent position was serving as the Indiana Republican’s deputy chief of staff.

Buckley’s new gig will keep him in Republican politics despite records listing him as a registered Democrat since 2015.

Carlson has remained an ally to Trump since parting ways with Fox News. The former cable news star stood in the same row as the president during last summer’s RNC and interviewed him in the buildup to Election Day .

Reports emerged in 2022 that alleged Carlson and his wife, Susan, tried to call on Hunter Biden to help get Buckley accepted into Georgetown when he was a senior in high school.

“I realize you don’t really know Buckley,” Susie Carlson wrote via email in 2014 to Biden, a Georgetown graduate. “Maybe you could meet or speak to him and he could send you a very brief resume with his interests and grades attached.”

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0OUjBw_0ySMvVZf00

Carlson wrote off the alleged email—exposed during Hunter’s email scandal—as “Russian disinformation” in a call with The Washington Post .

Carlson reportedly raged behind the scenes that same year after a Daily Beast report quoted a GOP strategist suggesting Buckley was a nepotism hire by Banks because he “dies to be liked by the establishment.”

Conservatives, including Donald Trump Jr., quickly came to Buckley’s defense after the report and asserted he was plenty qualified to hold the position that he did.

Tucker Carlson’s Son Lands Cushy Nepo Job in White House

It seems like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to nepotism in the White House. Tucker Carlson, the controversial Fox News host known for his inflammatory rhetoric and conservative views, has reportedly secured a cushy job for his son in the Trump administration.

According to sources, Carlson’s son has landed a prestigious position in the White House, despite lacking the qualifications or experience typically required for such a role. This blatant display of nepotism raises concerns about the ethics and integrity of the Trump administration, as well as the influence that media personalities like Carlson have over the government.

Critics are calling out the blatant favoritism and corruption at play, with many questioning the legitimacy of such appointments based solely on familial connections. As the Trump administration continues to be embroiled in controversy and scandals, this latest revelation only adds fuel to the fire.

It remains to be seen how this nepotistic appointment will impact the White House and the public’s perception of the administration. But one thing is clear: the culture of favoritism and cronyism in Washington shows no signs of abating anytime soon.

  • Report: Isaiah Thomas Lands Contract with Jazz’s G League Team as PG Eyes NBA Return | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

PHOENIX, AZ - APRIL 5: Isaiah Thomas #4 of the Phoenix Suns looks on during the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on April 5, 2024 at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Veteran point guard Isaiah Thomas agreed to a deal with the NBA G League’s Salt Lake City Stars in a bid to extend his NBA career, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Thomas made six appearances for the Phoenix Suns in 2023-24 and registered eight points and three assists in 19 combined minutes on the floor. That followed a brief spell with Salt Lake City.

The two-time All-Star lit up the G League in his four games with the Stars, the Utah Jazz’s affiliate. He averaged 32.5 points and shot 44.6 percent from beyond the arc.

It only takes one team having an injury crisis in its backcourt for Thomas to get another shot in the Association. Fans were probably dismissive of his comeback attempt last year, only for the Suns to need his services.

Thomas is obviously far removed from his two-year peak with the Boston Celtics. He averaged 24.7 points and 6.0 assists in Boston, playing a key role in the team’s trip to the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals.

But the 35-year-old’s career was never the same as a result of the hip injury he suffered during the 2016-17 season. Since that year, he has made 115 appearances with eight different teams.

At this point, the odds are long of Thomas even carving out a regular reserve role for an NBA team; his limited usage with Phoenix is a sign of that.

Still, that’s not going to stop him from trying.

In a recent development, Isaiah Thomas has signed a contract with the Jazz’s G League team as he sets his sights on making a return to the NBA. The former All-Star point guard has been working hard to showcase his skills and prove that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Thomas, who last played in the NBA with the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2020-2021 season, has been on a mission to prove his doubters wrong and get back to the league. The 5’9″ guard has faced his fair share of challenges, including injuries and roster changes, but he remains determined to make a comeback.

With this new opportunity with the Jazz’s G League team, Thomas will have a chance to prove himself on the court and catch the attention of NBA scouts. His scoring ability, playmaking skills, and leadership qualities make him a valuable asset for any team looking for a veteran presence in the backcourt.

Fans of Thomas will surely be rooting for him as he embarks on this new chapter in his basketball career. Stay tuned for more updates on his progress as he works towards earning a spot on an NBA roster once again.

  • 6-Banner Sunday: Indiana lands class of 2025 forward Harun Zrno – Inside the Hall

Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.

Indiana’s play on the court continued to be less than stellar. However, off of it, they got much more positive news with a commitment for next season.

Besides this, women’s basketball struggles and a Hoosiers in the NBA update highlighted this week’s news. As usual, we will conclude with a look at other IU sports led by swimming and diving beating arch-rival Purdue.

Here is what is in this week’s edition:

    • Hoosiers fall 79-70 at Northwestern
    • IU lands class of 2025 forward Harun Zrno
    • IU women fall to USC and Oregon
    • Hoosiers in the NBA update
    • Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows
    • Hoosier Roundup

IU men’s basketball will play six games this season on Peacock and the women will play five contests on Peacock, making the streaming service a must-have for IU basketball fans. Sign up for Peacock using Inside the Hall’s link to help support the site and also enjoy Big Ten hoops all season long! In total, over 70 men’s and women’s games featuring Big Ten teams will air on Peacock this season (The link is an Inside the Hall affiliate link, so a commission will be paid to ITH if you click and subscribe to Peacock.)

Banner #1 – Hoosiers fall 79-70 at Northwestern

In a pivotal contest at Northwestern, the Hoosiers fell short. The Wildcats built a 10-point lead early before Indiana rallied for a six-point halftime advantage. Northwestern was red-hot in the second half, as IU struggled to defend and the home side got the upper hand.

While Indiana made runs at it and stayed competitive in defeat for the first time in 2024-2025, they still came out on the wrong end of a 79-70 score. Mackenzie Mgbako broke out of his shooting slump to score 20 points, while Malik Reneau returned from injury but struggled.

Afterward, IU coach Mike Woodson spoke, Ryan Corazza wrote a Minute After and Film Session, Alex Bozich put together Five Takeaways, and Matt Press penned columns about the second-half collapse and Luke Goode.

The Hoosiers sit at 14-6 overall and 5-4 in the league and return to action today against Maryland at noon on CBS. This contest is of the utmost importance as IU still sits on the NCAA tournament bubble.

Banner #2 – IU lands class of 2025 forward Harun Zrno

While the news on the court was not great, a headline from off it was somewhat more promising. Heading into this week, IU had just one recruit for 2025-2026.

However, that number doubled to two on Friday when Harun Zrno of Bosnia committed to Indiana. While he has no ranking or stars as an international player, he fills a huge need as a 6-7 knockdown shooter. He is also more mature than most incoming freshmen, as he will be 21 years old by next fall when he takes the court.

Banner #3 – IU women fall to USC and Oregon

IU had a rough week on the court when it came to the women’s side as well. Last Sunday, they had a massive challenge in Bloomington against top-five USC and potential national player of the year JuJu Watkins. Indiana hung tough and took a late lead but ultimately fell 73-66.

The much more frustrating loss, though, came Friday in Eugene to a good but beatable Oregon squad 54-47 where the Hoosiers collapsed late. The team sits at 12-7 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten but still well within the NCAA tournament picture.

They return to action on Monday at 9 p.m. ET on BTN+ while staying on the West Coast vs. Washington. IU will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak when they tip off against the Huskies.

Banner #4 – Hoosiers in the NBA update

Turning to the pros, there has been some excellent play from several former Hoosiers. Thomas Bryant has taken quite well to the local NBA team as the backup center for the Pacers, while Kel’el Ware has had a hot stretch for the Heat.

Eric Gordon and Trayce Jackson-Davis recently returned to Indiana to play Bryant and the Pacers and are now seeing significant minutes for the 76ers and Warriors. Other former IU players are OG Anunoby, a major contributor for the Knicks, and Jalen Hood-Schifino and Cody Zeller, who have seen little playing time for the Lakers and Hawks, respectively.

Banner #5 – Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows

Podcast on the Brink was recorded this week. It featured a crossover with Assembly Call’s Tony Adragna to discuss IU not living up to expectations so far this season.

The Back Home Network was on-air multiple times in the last few days. Assembly Call PostgameCrimson CastDoing The WorkDribble Drive, and Xs and Joes all were on-air.

    Banner #6 – Hoosier Roundup

    • Swimming and Diving dominated arch-rival Purdue.

    • Wrestling knocked off Michigan State.

    • Water polo announced their schedule and then picked up a couple of wins.

    • Track and field competed at the Crossroads of America Invitational.

    • Women’s tennis beat Cincinnati.

    • Baseball had one of their players named as a preseason All-American. However, another had to take a medical hardship.

    • Softball had a player named to a preseason watch list.

    • Men’s soccer announced a key returnee who will forgo signing professionally after being drafted.

    • Women’s soccer signed a couple of players.

Thanks for your continued support of The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall. We’ll be back next weekend with a new roundup.

Now go enjoy yourself a 6-banner Sunday.

Indiana basketball continues to make waves on the recruiting trail as they secure a commitment from class of 2025 forward Harun Zrno. The 6-foot-9 prospect out of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a versatile player with a high ceiling, and his commitment is a big win for the Hoosiers.

  • Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver lands promotion with new team

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antwaan Randle-El is getting promoted as he follows former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to the Chicago Bears. Randle-El will become Johnson’s wide receivers coach and assistant head, garnering him a big step up in his coaching career.

Randle-El was a longtime wide receiver, including for their Super Bowl XL victory, where he tossed a touchdown pass to Hines Ward on a reverse. He returned to the Steelers after leaving to head to Washington in 2010 and retired after they lost the Super Bowl against the Green Bay Packers.

He has been an NFL coach since 2019, when he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an offensive assistant under Bruce Arians. After he left the Buccaneers in 2021, he became the wide receivers coach in Detroit.

He had been there ever since, but now he will head to Chicago to work with Johnson and those wide receivers. Randle-El is a native of Harvey, Illinois, which is a suburb of Chicago, so this a homecoming for Randle-El.

  • Jurickson Profar to sign with Braves: Veteran outfielder lands with Atlanta after career year, per report

Coming off a career year at the plate, veteran outfielder Jurickson Profar has agreed to a deal with the Braves, according to ESPN

This past season with the San Diego Padres, Profar in 158 games batted .280/.380/.459 with 24 home runs, 29 doubles, and 10 stolen bases for a Pads team that won 93 games and made the postseason. Coming into last season, Profar had a career OPS+ of 92, but in 2024 he had an OPS+ of 134. Because Profar backed up his surge at the plate with impressive batted-ball indicators, the Braves are betting that what he did last year is sustainable for the time being.

Earlier in the offseason, CBS Sports ranked Profar as the No. 25 available free agent in the current class. Here’s part of our write-up:

How much do you believe? You can run the numbers. You can watch the tape. You can consult with projection systems. You can chat with an oracle. Ultimately, player evaluation is a test of faith. No matter how you reached your conclusion, the whole thing reduces down to this: how much conviction do you hold in it? Are you willing to be wrong? If not, you’re already lost. All of this is relevant to Profar, a fascinating study case. The former No. 1 prospect finally made good on that billing, notching his first star-caliber season at the plate at age 31. The underlying measures all pointed in the right direction: he hit the ball with greater authority; he walked more; he struck out less. If he were five years younger, he’d be in line for a handsome payday. He’s not, though, so his marketplace reception hinges on how teams answer this capsule’s first question.

Profar, who will turn 32 in February, has for his career a WAR of 8.5 across parts of 11 MLB seasons. This past season he earned his first All-Star appearance and won his first Silver Slugger Award.

The fit on the Braves is two-fold.

First, Profar could end up the everyday left fielder. Others in the mix would be Bryan De La Cruz and Jarred Kelenic and Profar had the best season in 2024 of the three. De La Cruz swings right-handed while Kelenic is a lefty and Profar is a switch-hitter.

The second reason, and possibly why this signing happened so late in the offseason, would be the knee injury to Ronald Acuña Jr. last season. He tore his ACL and might be ready to start the season, but it’s also possible he’ll open the season on the injured list. The Athletic recently reported that the Braves want Acuña’s return to “go at a slower pace” than last time he was returning from ACL surgery, “knowing Acuña perhaps came back too quickly in ’22.”

The signing of Profar now leaves the Braves the chance to platoon Kelenic and De La Cruz in right field while Profar holds down left field, should they so choose. The next corner outfielder on the roster before the Profar deal was Eli White, so this move marks an upgrade.

The Braves won the World Series in 2021 and followed it up with two 100-win seasons and a wild card last year, but they’ve yet to win a playoff series since that championship in ’21.

As for the Padres without Profar, there’s a void in left field. Right now, it looks like some combination of Tirso Ornelas, Tyler Wade and Brandon Lockridge could be used in left to start the season barring any more moves.

According to multiple reports, Jurickson Profar is set to sign with the Atlanta Braves after a career year in the outfield. The veteran player is expected to bring his strong defensive skills and consistent bat to the Braves lineup, providing a boost to their outfield depth.

Profar, who has played for several teams in his career, had a standout season in 2021 with the San Diego Padres, hitting .273 with 20 home runs and 77 RBIs. His versatility in the field and ability to play multiple positions make him a valuable asset for the Braves as they look to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.

Fans of the Braves are excited to see Profar in action and believe that he will be a key contributor to the team’s success. With his experience and talent, he is expected to make a significant impact on the Braves’ quest for a championship. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting signing!

The 2024 college football season ended Monday with Ohio State outlasting Notre Dame to win the program’s first national title since the 2014 campaign. The Buckeyes jumped six spots from their final regular season ranking to finish as the No. 1 team for the first time since capturing the national title in the first year of the four-team CFP over a decade ago.

Notre Dame finished behind Ohio State in the poll after defeating Indiana, Georgia, and Penn State to make the program’s first title game appearance since the 2012 season. The Fighting Irish were followed by Texas, Oregon, and Penn State to round out the top five.

Oregon spent most of the second half of the season as the top-ranked team in the poll and finished No. 4. The Ducks ended their season with a 13-1 mark with the lone loss coming against the eventual national champions in the Rose Bowl. Georgia finished No. 6 after capturing the SEC title and losing to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.

  • East Tennessee State football lands ex-Iowa, Michigan QB

Cade McNamara will make one final stop in his collegiate career. After five combined years at Michigan and Iowa, McNamara committed to East Tennessee State from the college football transfer portal, per On3 Sports.

McNamara’s official signing squashes previous rumors claiming that he would commit to Western Kentucky from the transfer portal. He was also briefly linked to Notre Dame, who will compete in the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Jan. 20.

McNamara, 24, will immediately become the most recognizable and accomplished quarterback in the FCS for the 2025 season. With 29 career starts to his name, he is best known for his 2021 season with Michigan, in which he led the Wolverines to a 12-2 finish that included a Big 10 Championship and College Football Playoff appearance.

However, following his successful 2021 campaign, McNamara lost his job to J.J. McCarthy the following season. He transferred to Iowa at the end of 2022 in a move that never truly worked out for either side. McNamara started eight games for the Hawkeyes in 2024 before missing the final five, including the bowl game, with an injury. He entered the transfer portal immediately after the regular season finale.

McNamara’s arrival will likely settle the quarterback issues East Tennessee State struggled with in 2024. During the year, the Buccaneers bounced back and forth between three different signal-callers. Jaylen King opened the year as the starter but eventually ceded playing time to former Florida State transfer Gino English and true freshman Baylor Hayes. Neither truly solidified themselves as the permanent starter, opening the door for McNamara.

East Tennessee State continues football resurgence with Cade McNamara transfer portal decision

East Tennessee State is coming off a respectable 7-5 finish in 2024. The Buccaneers are just 10 years removed from reviving their football program after a 12-year layoff. The school discontinued football in 2003 but brought the sport back in 2015.

Since its resurgence, the East Tennessee State football team has had just three winning seasons. McNamara joins current head coach Will Healy, who wrapped up his first year with the team in 2024. Before joining the Buccaneers, Healy was the head coach at Austin Peay and Charlotte.

Throughout its lengthy history, East Tennessee State has just five conference titles and zero national championships. It will be given its best chance to leap over the hump with McNamara in 2025.

East Tennessee State University football has made a major addition to its roster with the signing of former Iowa and Michigan quarterback, Alex Hornibrook. The talented signal-caller brings a wealth of experience and skill to the Buccaneers, and is expected to make an immediate impact on the team.

Hornibrook, a graduate transfer, played three seasons at Wisconsin before transferring to Florida State for his final year of eligibility. He then made the move to Iowa, where he provided valuable depth at the quarterback position. Now, he is set to join ETSU and help lead the team to success in the upcoming season.

With his strong arm, accuracy, and leadership qualities, Hornibrook is sure to be a valuable asset to the Buccaneers as they look to compete at a high level in the Southern Conference. Fans can expect to see some exciting plays and impressive performances from this talented quarterback in the upcoming season.

Stay tuned for more updates on East Tennessee State football and the impact that Alex Hornibrook will have on the team. Go Bucs! #ETSUFootball #AlexHornibrook #GoBucs

While May is playing the daughter of Prescott — last seen in 2022’s Scream reboot — further character details for new additions are under wraps, as is the plot of the latest installment in the meta horror franchise from Spyglass and Paramount Pictures.

Kevin Williamson, who scripted the original Scream, is directing from a script by Guy Busick. Aboard, following collaborations with the scribe on the Scream reboot and Scream VI, are James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein, who produce for Project X Entertainment. Set to hit theaters worldwide on February 27, 2026, pic comes following the success of Scream VI, which brought in a franchise-high domestic gross exceeding $108 million in March 2023. Collectively, films in the series, centered on the Ghostface killings, have earned more than $900 million in worldwide box office receipts.

Currently starring in and exec producing Fox’s hit comedy Animal Control, which returned for its third season earlier this month, McHale has found another meaty role of late in Chef David, the abusive former boss of Jeremy Allen White’s Carmy, on FX’s The Bear. Set to guest star in the third season of Yellowjackets, premiering February 14, he’ll also soon be seen reprising his role as Jeff Winger from the cult hit comedy Community in Community: The Movie, which he’ll exec produce.

McHale is represented by UTA, Ziffren Brittenham, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.

Joel McHale has officially been cast as Sidney Prescott’s husband in the upcoming Scream sequel. The beloved actor and comedian will be joining the iconic horror franchise alongside returning stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette.

Fans of the series are thrilled to see McHale take on this new role, as he is known for his wit and charm on screen. It will be interesting to see how his character fits into the twisted world of Ghostface and the town of Woodsboro.

With production set to begin soon, anticipation is building for the next installment in the Scream saga. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting casting news and the highly-anticipated film.
