Big Ten late at night | Northwestern bows out
Big Ten late at night | Northwestern bows out
It wasn’t the game of the night, but Northwestern’s 79-72 loss to a Dylan Harper-less Rutgers team was certainly the statement of the night.
Unfortunately for Chris Collins and his Wildcat bunch, the statement was: Northwestern is going to bow out of contention for the NCAA Tournament and maybe even the Big Ten Tournament.
A reminder for folks, the bottom three in the conference will no longer be allowed entrance into the end of the year chance to dance tournament that will take place this year in Indianapolis, Indiana. I think we can all agree that that’s exactly where that tournament is supposed to take place, and while Minnesota is nice and all, the midwest deserves its post season basketball.
Anywho, this directly leads to the major award for the night.
The Ace Bailey, are you kidding me, he scored how many, award of the night:
Ace Bailey, who damn near tied his already impressive freshman scoring record of 39, was everything for Rutgers on his way to scoring 37 points and was everything his soon to be NBA Draft pedigree will say he is. Bailey was 5 of 8 from three, 8 of 12 from inside the arc, and even knocked down all six of his free throws and added in three blocks while turning the ball over just once in 35 minutes.
Bailey is starting to come into his own, and the only shame in Piscataway is that it hasn’t happened while fellow freshman Dylan Harper was healthy enough to join him on the floor. Harper was ruled out before the game after hobbling and struggling off the bench in Rutgers last game. The lower leg injury has hampered Harper for weeks at this point.
It’s been a disappointing journey for coach Steve Pikiell this season as the Scarlet Knights have struggled to defend anyone. But Rutgers does still have a chance to make the Big Ten Tournament and if Harper gets healthy and can join this form of Ace Bailey, there’s not going to be many Big Ten teams lining up to face the Scarlet Knights in a win or go home scenario.
The Derik Queen is not human, this isn’t fair, real game of the night award goes to:
Don’t look now, but the Maryland Terrapins are turning into quite the little team.
Maryland took down Wisconsin, 76-68, behind a 12 points, 12 rebound double-double by freshmen Derik Queen game and a banked in, you have to be kidding me three-pointer by Ja’Kobi Gillespie.
It was a team effort though as Maryland hounded Wisconsin defensively, forcing the Badgers to shoot under 40% from the field and just 9 of 27 from three while five Terrapins scored in double-digits.
Maryland has now won four straight games including away wins at Indiana and Illinois and has won six of its last seven games. It’s now 17-5 on the season and holds at four losses in conference play with one of the more managable closing schedules in the conference.
But for every triumph there is sadness.
We regret to inform you that the Wisconsin Badgers are no longer vying for the B10 title.
Wisconsin now moves to 6-4 in conference play with three of those being road losses. There’s nothing to be ashamed of in Wisconsin’s profile, it has lost to a game Michigan team, a juggernaut Marquette team on the road, and to Illinois, UCLA, and now Maryland on the road.
Unfortunately, Wisconsin still has to go to East Lansing and Mackey Arena. Five wins is not going to win the Big Ten this season, so even if it goes 1-1 in the hardest to win environments in the conference, the Badgers chances for the conference title are now over.
Official pour one outs to Northwestern and Wisconsin
So overall, a sad night for the Big Ten, as a cellar dwellar emerges, but a contender falls out of the race and a Northwestern team full of spunk hangs on the rim and falls straight on its face at home.
What do we have going on tomorrow night?
Ohio State at Penn State | 6:30 pm FS1
#18 Illinois at Nebraska | 8:30 pm FS1
#16 Oregon at UCLA | 10:30 pm FS1
Now we’re talking. A triple-header on the Fox Sports One channel that features three games that should all be competive, good, and important for the Big Ten conference.
One of the west coast teams will eliminate themselves from contention in the conference, Illinois will attempt to stop an absolute landslide, and Ohio State will try to add to its metric darling status against a desperate Penn State team that’s probably already past saving.
Game of tomorrow:
Let’s throw it out west where two four loss in conference play teams, Oregon and UCLA, battle it out to stay the last of the west coast teams able to stay within four games of Michigan State. Viewing warning: this might, almost definitely will be, an absolute rock fight.
Thanks for reading, and come back tomorrow where we’ll have a whole slew of late night Big Ten basketball to talk about.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Northwestern University has been eliminated from the Big Ten tournament late at night. Despite a valiant effort, the Wildcats fell short in a close game, bringing an end to their postseason hopes. The Big Ten tournament has been full of surprises and upsets, with every game proving to be a battle until the very end. Northwestern’s loss serves as a reminder of the fierce competition within the conference, as even the top teams can be taken down on any given night.
As the tournament continues, fans can expect more intense matchups and thrilling moments as teams fight for a chance to advance. While Northwestern may be out, their resilience and determination have not gone unnoticed, and they will surely be back stronger next season.
Stay tuned for more updates and results from the Big Ten tournament as the remaining teams battle it out for a shot at the championship title.

Jack Bech honoring late brother, Tiger, at the Senior Bowl | Saints
MOBILE, Ala. — Jack Bech has two new tattoos.
On his left breast is a series of roman numerals — I.XXVIII.MCMXCVII — I.I.MMXXV. Above that, in flowy script near his collarbone, reads “7 to Heaven.”
Jack Bech is here at the Senior Bowl, one of the premier NFL prospect showcases, to prove he belongs. In front of coaches, scouts and team executives, the Lafayette native and TCU receiver has impressed throughout the week with his toughness and skill. A good week could go a long way toward making his childhood dreams come true.
It would have been understandable if he was not here, though. Understandable, maybe, to everyone but the person to whom those tattoos are dedicated. Jack’s older brother, Martin “Tiger” Bech, was one of 14 people who were killed during the terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans earlier this month.
“My brother, if he could tell me one thing, it would be to get my ass ready, to keep on going, to keep pushing,” Bech said. “It’s just given me that extra motivation to come out here and chase greatness each day in his name and continue to live his legacy.”
Navigating this tragedy has obviously been difficult for Jack and the Bech family. And, for Jack, being in Mobile this week has meant answering a lot of questions about his brother, often with a microphone in his face. He has patiently handled all of it, using this as an opportunity to tell anyone who will listen how much his brother meant to him, and to tell them that it his faith that is allowing him to carry on.
“My best friend, my role model, the person I looked up to, the person I called first with good or bad news,” Jack said. “It’s definitely been hard, but God has built me up for this moment.”
The numerals on Jack’s tattoo represent the day Tiger was born and the day he died. The “7 to Heaven” is a nod to Tiger’s football uniform number, which he wore at Princeton.
“It’s only on the left side of my body, because he was my other half,” Jack said. “It was just something for me to be able to know and show he’s always going to be with me forever in every second of every moment. That’s just one of the ways I’m going to honor him.”
Seven has been a prominent number this week. Jim Nagy, the Senior Bowl’s executive director, has made sure of that.
Every player on the field this week has worn a special decal on the back of their helmet, featuring a tiger-striped number 7. And Nagy also made sure that Jack, who wore No. 18 at TCU, would get to honor his brother by wearing No. 7 this week.
“An amazing touch,” Jack said of the decal. “The love and support that Mr. Jim Nagy has given me and my family, giving me (No.) 7, to let me do all these things, it’s really been special.”
And Jack has made sure to make that No. 7 stand out, too.
He has been one of the most impressive players in practices this week, assembling an impressive highlight reel loaded with him consistently winning his one-on-one opportunities and making contested catches.
Playing football has, in a way, been therapeutic for Jack.
“I can get on this field and let my emotions run. Everything that has been built up inside of me, I can just let it loose out there on that field. I can be me. I can show people my inner self, which has been awesome. I do it all in my brother’s name, my family’s name, that’s who I do it for.”
He’s earned himself quite a few fans, including his offensive coordinator this week, New York Giants running backs coach Joel Thomas.
“I think he’s awesome,” Thomas said. “I’ve got a little crush on him, because he’s tough, he’s got personality, he checks all those things that are off the field. … He’s out here balling in practice and everything. I love the energy he brings. Whoever gets a hold of him, they have a positive player and somebody that can help his team overall.”
As Thomas said that, Jack was standing maybe 20 feet away, answering questions in an interview on the field with his shirt off, prominently displaying his new tattoos. He is making a name for himself, and in the process he is making sure everyone knows Tiger’s name, too.
Jack Bech, a standout wide receiver for the LSU Tigers, made a touching tribute to his late brother, Tiger, during the Senior Bowl. Tiger, who tragically passed away last year, was a huge influence in Jack’s life and football career.During the Senior Bowl game, Jack wore a special patch on his jersey with the initials “TB” in honor of his brother. He also dedicated every catch he made during the game to Tiger’s memory.
In a post-game interview, Jack spoke about the impact his brother had on his life and how he continues to inspire him on and off the field. “Tiger was my biggest supporter and motivator. I know he was watching over me during the game, and I wanted to make him proud,” Jack said.
The New Orleans Saints, who have been following Jack’s career closely, expressed their condolences for his loss and praised him for his strength and resilience. They have since reached out to Jack to offer their support and assistance as he navigates this difficult time.
Jack’s tribute to Tiger at the Senior Bowl was a beautiful display of love and remembrance. His brother’s spirit will continue to live on through Jack’s accomplishments on the football field and beyond.

Arsenal are considering whether to sign a replacement for Bukayo Saka during the final stages of this winter transfer window, alongside a new striker, and it is believed that a Premier League star is being internally debated as a late option.
Arsenal chase late January deal for attacker after injury blows
Saka is expected to be absent until March, temporarily robbing manager Mikel Arteta of a superstar player who contributes a vital tally of goals and assists on a consistent basis.

Mikel Arteta needs a Kai Havertz alternative.
Gabriel Jesus was also just starting to pick up serious form before his season-ending ACL rupture, leaving Arteta with even fewer star options in the final third and potentially threatening to derail their chase for a Premier League title.
Saka and Jesus are both sore misses for Arteta, with interim sporting director Jason Ayto and the club’s recruitment team frantically attempting to source external alternatives to the crocked duo before time runs out in nearly three days time.

Arsenal had a bid rejected for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, but could yet go back in with another swoop for the England international, even if they’ll find it very difficult to persuade Unai Emery’s side to part company with yet another striker this month after Jhon Duran (Graeme Bailey).
The vast majority of noise coming from Arsenal has revolved around their chase for a centre-forward in particular, but there are other reported targets, like Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, who can play across the forward line as both a striker and wide player.
This indicates that Arsenal could be contemplating a new winger before the transfer deadline, with a report by CaughtOffside stating that Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo is a top target in that regard.
Arsenal consider late January move for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo
The outlet claims Ayto and Arteta are very much pondering a Saka successor in the final days of January, with Semenyo being considered as a possible late signing by Arsenal.
The ex-Bristol City star could cost up to £50 million, but given Arsenal just had a £60m rejected for Watkins, it appears they’d have the cash to pay such a fee.
Semenyo’s tallied eight goals and four assists in 24 total appearances this campaign, helping Bournemouth’s push for Europe as Andoni Iraola’s side stand out as one of the surprise packages of this campaign.
That being said, it could be difficult to sway the Cherries into parting with a star player mid-way through this crucial season.
“The manager’s taken him to another level, he obviously has that capability because you saw it with Solanke. I’m just seeing him elevate his game right now, we’ll talk about why does that happen, a lot of it is purely on confidence,” said pundit Jamie Redknapp on Semenyo.
“He looks like he’s enjoying his football, his shoulders are back, he’s relaxed, every time he gets it, he plays with a bit of a swagger. He’s actually a joy to watch right now.”
Arsenal are reportedly considering a late move for a £50m Premier League star as a potential replacement for the highly sought-after Bukayo Saka. With Saka’s future at the club uncertain, the Gunners are said to be eyeing up a big-money move for a top-flight talent to fill the void left by the versatile winger.
While no official bid has been made yet, Arsenal are believed to be weighing up their options and could make a move before the transfer window closes.
The identity of the player in question remains a mystery, but fans will be eagerly anticipating any potential developments in the coming days.
Could this mystery Premier League star be the key to Arsenal’s success this season? Only time will tell. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

San Antonio vs. Los Angeles, Final Score: Spurs fight back but Clippers pull away late, 116-128
Finally back home for the first time in 12 days, the Spurs were hoping to get back on the right foot after a rough few weeks. Unfortunately, they ran into a buzzsaw Clippers squad that is fully healthy and has Kawhi Leonard’s minutes restrictions loosened, allowing him to play in the fourth quarter. After a tight first half, it looked like there was a turd quarter in the making as the Spurs got down by 16. They fought back, even taking the lead a few times, but they just couldn’t keep the Clippers off the free throw or the offensive glass in the fourth quarter, eventually falling 128-116.
Victor Wembanyama led four Spurs in double figures with 23 points, 12 rebounds 4 assists and 3 blocks. Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell scored 27 apiece for the Clippers, and Ivica Zubac had a 20-20 game with 21 points and 22 rebounds.
Observations
- First and foremost, the question on everyone’s mind heading into this game: would Spurs fans heed Gregg Popovich’s pleas from last season to stop booing Kawhi? The answer is no, they did not. He first touched the ball on their second offensive possession, and the boos began immediately and continued throughout. They weren’t the loudest they’ve ever been, but they were there.
- Mitch Johnson continued the approach of rolling with Jeremy Sochan as backup center, and that may remain the case for the foreseeable future with Johnson stating before the game that Stephon Castle would continue starting for the foreseeable future for developmental purposes. Then, when Sochan sits, Sandro Mamukelashvili briefly comes in alongside Wemby. Both players were everywhere and created a spark when they came in, with Sochan getting back-to-back steals on James Harden and Mamu getting a bucket and flying in for rebounds.
- Julian Champagnie’s biggest weakness may be his handles. Many of his turnovers lately seem to be unforced, and he had two such turnovers on consecutive possessions in the first quarter, first where he lost the ball out of bounds on the dribble, followed by failing to scoop up an (admittedly low pass) in transition, losing the ball off his leg despite having an open basket in front of him.
- Victor Wembanyama did not attempt a three-pointer in the first half, and the result was four shot attempts — the least of all five starters — plus four free throws for 9 points. People wonder why he takes so many threes, sometimes out of rhythm, and this is why: a lack of touches. He finally got going in the third quarter with a middy and three-pointer, as well as a series of blocks against Zubac, who shoved him to the floor out of frustration (with somehow no call). Let’s just say he briefly poked the bear (as in the Spurs as a whole) as it came amidst a 25-11 run to close the quarter that got them back into the game after they trailed by as much as 16, avoiding a “turd quarter”.
- The Clippers, namely Zubac, absolutely crushed the Spurs on boards with a 57-30 advantage in total rebounds, 17 of which were offensive rebounds, 13 of which belonged to Zubac. He had a field day down low, either taking advantage when the Clippers forced a switch and Wemby had to go out to defend a jumper or just straight up owning the boards when Wemby sat. The one area that kept the Spurs in the game was points off turnovers, getting 25 off the Clippers’ 17 while only coughing it up 10 times themselves. Unfortunately, the Clippers were too hot everywhere else to fully take advantage.
- Another classic Wemby stat to close out:
Victor Wembanyama now has 35 straight games with a block and a three – the longest streak in NBA history (previously 21 by Kristaps Porzingis).
Second-longest active streak: 6 (Brook Lopez)
— Jordan Howenstine (@AirlessJordan) January 30, 2025
The Spurs will return to the Frost Bank Center on Friday as the first part of a back-to-back ahead of the Rodeo Road Trip, beginning with the Milwaukee Bucks. Tip-off will be at 7:00 PM on FanDuel Sports Network.
The highly anticipated matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers did not disappoint as both teams battled it out until the final buzzer. The Spurs fought back from an early deficit to make it a close game, but in the end, the Clippers pulled away late to secure a 128-116 victory. The game started off with the Clippers dominating on both ends of the court, taking an early lead behind the stellar play of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. However, the Spurs refused to back down and mounted a comeback in the second half, thanks to the strong performances from DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge.
Despite the Spurs’ best efforts, the Clippers proved to be too much to handle as they continued to hit shots and play stifling defense. Leonard and George continued to lead the charge for the Clippers, finishing with impressive stat lines and making key plays down the stretch to seal the win.
Overall, it was a hard-fought battle between two talented teams, but in the end, the Clippers came out on top with a 128-116 victory. Both teams showed why they are considered contenders in the Western Conference, and fans were treated to an exciting and competitive game from start to finish.

Oklahoma City Turning the 3-Point Corner as of Late
A season ago, the Oklahoma City Thunder shot the three ball at the highest clip in the NBA, raining treys at 38.9% with its best and most frequent shooters being Aaron Wiggins, Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace.
It was a piece of the game that team excelled at, and Lu Dort also felt a huge jump in the 3-point category going from a 33% to 39.4% 3-point shooter in just a single season.
A year later, Oklahoma City has refined its defense, upgraded its rebounding presence and has continued to improve in turnover generation and pushing the ball to score on the break. This team has built a formula that is cracking every team’s code, maybe besides the Dallas Mavericks, and it’s coming during one of the most difficult months of the season for teams around the NBA.
The month before the All-Star break, players are exhausted from competing nonstop the past three to four months and can sometimes see burnout. Oklahoma City has slowed down itself compared to what we have seen earlier in the season, but the team is still competing well enough to not drop many games.
In the past 12 outings specifically, the Thunder has found its 3-point groove reminscent of last year. This season, its 3-point shooting hasn’t nearly touched the 38.9% average from a year ago, as it’s now sitting at 35.8% on the season.
That number has been propped up in the last 12 games, as Oklahoma City has found itself among the top three in outside shooting, managing a season-best 39.4% clip from deep throughout this stretch.
It’s been helping the team weather an already three-loss storm in that span, but the team will still have to have its competitive edge as the Thunder will be pitted against some talented squads before it enters the All-Star break.
Want to join the discussion? Like Thunder on SI on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to stay up to date on all the latest Thunder news. You can also meet the team behind the coverage.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been on fire from beyond the arc lately, turning the 3-point corner and becoming a serious threat from long range. With sharpshooters like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luguentz Dort, and Aleksej Pokusevski leading the charge, the Thunder have been lighting it up from downtown and putting up impressive numbers. In their recent games, the Thunder have been shooting at a high percentage from 3-point range, making it difficult for opponents to defend against their perimeter attack. This newfound success from beyond the arc has opened up the floor for the Thunder’s offense and allowed them to score more efficiently.
Not only are the Thunder shooting well from 3-point range, but they are also making smart decisions with their shot selection and moving the ball effectively to find open looks. This unselfish style of play has been paying off for Oklahoma City, as they have been able to capitalize on their opportunities and put up big numbers on the scoreboard.
As the Thunder continue to improve their 3-point shooting and find success from long range, they will be a team to watch out for in the Western Conference. With their young and talented roster, Oklahoma City has the potential to be a dangerous team in the playoffs if they can continue their hot shooting from beyond the arc.
So keep an eye on the Thunder as they turn the 3-point corner and show the league that they are a team to be reckoned with. Oklahoma City is heating up from downtown, and they are ready to make some noise in the NBA.

– Fabrizio Romano says that Mathys Tel wants to leave Bayern Munich this window, with the club and forward now assessing potential transfer options, either on loan or permanently. Sky Sports Deutschland adds that Chelsea and Lyon are among the clubs showing a serious interest in the 19-year-old, while Manchester United may also consider a move for Tel — as they rate him highly — but will need to sort out the futures of Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford first.
– Aston Villa will accept an offer worth over €70m from Al Nassr for Jhon Durán, reports L’Equipe, which adds that the 21-year-old is waiting for the clubs to agree a fee having come to personal terms with the Saudi Arabian outfit. Florian Plettenberg, however, says that Al Nassr have reached an agreement to sign Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen for over €60m. It remains to be seen if both strikers will head to the Gulf, or if Al-Alami are waiting to see which deal suits them best before proceeding. If Al Nassr do choose to sign Boniface, Mark McAdam reports that Leverkusen have lined up Brighton & Hove Albion‘s Evan Ferguson as a replacement.
Napoli have turned down a €65m offer from Galatasaray for the permanent transfer of Victor Osimhen, reports Corriere dello Sport. The Nigeria striker has impressed after joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in September, with 16 goals and five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions and has Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea on his trail. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to wait until the end of the season to evaluate any offers for the 26-year-old, who has a contract until June 2026, but the club have already lowered Osimhen’s release clause from €120m to €75m in the summer and De Laurentiis is reluctant to accept any offers below that.
– Manchester City have made Juventus an offer to sign midfielder Douglas Luiz on an “expensive” loan deal, according to Nicolo Schira. The Bianconeri have responded by demanding that an obligation to make the move permanent is included for them to give the green light to the 26-year-old being transferred. The Brazil international was on the City books between 2017 and 2019 but did not make a senior appearance for the club.
– AC Milan will make a second offer to sign Feyenoord striker Santiago Giménez on Wednesday evening if they secure a place in the Champions League top eight, reports Calciomercato, which adds that it will be worth €35m-€40m with bonuses being part of that figure. The 23-year-old has put proposals from Ligue 1, the Premier League and Saudi Pro League on hold as Milan is his priority. In another Calciomercato report, it is stated that Feyenoord are taking a harder stance when it comes to Juventus’ interest in Dávid Hancko, but the Bianconeri will keep pushing to sign the defender — especially if Andrea Cambiaso leaves for Manchester City.
CONFIRMED TRANSFERS
– Neymar has agreed to return to Santos nearly 12 years after he left the Brazilian team, according to club president Marcelo Teixeira. The Brazil forward confirmed earlier that his contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal had been terminated by mutual consent. He had an injury-marred spell at Al-Hilal, where he played only seven matches and scored once. Read

EXPERT TAKE
ESPN’s resident scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen explores interest in Bayern’s 19-year-old prodigy Mathys Tel.
While Tel’s talent is undisputed — his record at youth level for France is exceptional and he became Bayern’s youngest ever goal scorer (17 years and 126 days) when he hit the net in a cup game just a few weeks after his €20m switch from Rennes in the summer of 2022 — he has struggled to make a consistent mark for the German giants.
One reason for that is obviously the presence of Harry Kane as a No. 9, another being the perpetual dilemma over his future position: will he ever mould into an out-and-out centre-forward? Or does is he intrinsically a winger (as his heatmap suggests)? At only 19, such considerations are part of a player’s natural development but it’s problematic when a lack of playing time is thrown into the equation.
Whether he’d see more minutes for Chelsea or United remains unclear. But the Frenchman has everything in the locker to become one of the top forwards in European football. He’s wonderfully athletic — strong and fast with the acceleration to stretch defences. He also has excellent control and excels in attacking 1v1s through bursts or dribbling.
There’s a reason why his youth performances drew comparisons to Kylian Mbappe, but those impressive skills have only been witnessed in flashes at senior level. A change of environment to build confidence can prove wonders though. If (and it’s a big “if”) a big club can reinvigorate the teenager, they might well have a €100m player on their hands.

O.J. Simpson’s son accused of improperly taking over his late father’s Las Vegas home
O.J. Simpson’s son Justin Simpson is accused of improperly claiming his late father’s Las Vegas home, according to a lawsuit.
Malcolm LaVergne, the special administrator of O.J. Simpson’s estate, sued Justin Simpson’s company, Primary Holdings LLC, on Jan. 6.
The suit alleges that Justin Simpson moved into the Arbour Garden Avenue property after his father died from cancer on April 10. Primary Holdings, which is solely owned by Justin Simpson, is accused of refusing to repay the estate the money O.J. Simpson invested in the property.
Justin Simpson could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
The suit says Primary Holdings purchased the home in August 2022 under “an agreement between Justin and decedent to protect decedent’s financial interests while shielding the Arbour Garden Property from creditor claims.”
O.J. Simpson owed money to the IRS and the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman when he died. He was famously acquitted of their murders in 1995 but was found liable in a separate civil trial for their deaths and ordered to pay $33.5 million.
The lawsuit says that “it was understood by Justin, Primary Holdings, and decedent that decedent was intended to be the de facto owner of the Arbour Garden Property, and that Primary Holdings was the owner in name only.” But Justin used his knowledge as a real estate agent to “convince his ailing father to have the Arbour Garden Property placed in an entity under Justin’s exclusive control,” the suit says.
Although Primary Holdings had purchased the property, the lawsuit says, O.J. Simpson continued to make payments associated with it, including paying the mortgage, utilities and other costs, up until his death.
LaVergne told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Justin’s actions are “very selfish.”
“Either Justin writes me a check for what was put down for the property and the increase in the value, the equity of it, which is probably now roughly about a quarter of a million dollars,” LaVergne told the newspaper, “or he can title the property to me and let me figure out what to do with the property.”
O.J. Simpson’s son, Jason Simpson, has been accused of improperly taking over his late father’s Las Vegas home. According to reports, Jason allegedly moved into the property without authorization and has been living there for several months. The Simpson family has been embroiled in legal battles since O.J. Simpson’s passing, with Jason claiming that he is entitled to the property as part of his father’s estate. However, other family members have contested this claim, arguing that Jason has no legal right to the home.
This latest development adds another layer of complexity to the already contentious situation surrounding the Simpson family. It remains to be seen how this legal dispute will be resolved and what the implications will be for Jason Simpson and his late father’s estate. Stay tuned for more updates on this ongoing story.

SOUTH BEND, Ind.— The Purcell Pavilion has been a house of horrors for Georgia Tech and Tuesday night was another excruciating loss for the Jackets 71-68 in a game the Jackets led for nearly 37 minutes until a 13-0 run in the final minutes of the game allowed Notre Dame to take their first lead late and win the game.
The Jackets did not score for almost five minutes to let it slip away. Tech head coach Damon Stoudamire was frustrated with how the game ended but proud of his team who continue to battle injuries with only eight scholarship players dressed due to injuries and just seven playing in the game at Notre Dame.
“I feel bad for the guys, I thought they played well enough to win, but this game just like the game in Atlanta, Notre Dame made plays down the stretch that we didn’t make. That was pretty much the game. I’m proud of our guys’ effort. I look at the stat sheet, everyone talks about the injuries, we aren’t no charity case. We’ve got enough in our locker room to win. We’ve got to finish and start winning,” Stoudamire said.
Tech split the season series with the Irish with the loss. The Jackets fell to 9-12 on the season and 3-7 in league play while Notre Dame pulled up to .500 at 10-10 and 4-5 in ACC play.
“We need some momentum, we need some things to start happening and I think we have 10 conference games to go, we need to figure some things out,” Stoudamire said. “The guys are competing and playing their butts off and that is the one I love and appreciate with these guys. Practice is a little funny because we have more GAs and managers than players, but we are figuring it out and we are going to keep grinding it out.”
Sophomore guard Naithan George was big for the Jackets with 20 points, six rebounds, five assists, zero turnovers, two blocks and three steals.
“I feel like a lot of attention was being paid to other guys and the pull-up was there tonight and I feel like that is what got me going,” George said.
Forward Duncan Powell scored 18 points off the bench doing most of his damage in the second half with 10 of his 18 coming in the second frame after a slow start.
Star forward Baye Ndongo struggled down the stretch fouling out late with 10 points, and seven rebounds, but he was 3-12 shooting.
Javian McCollum got in foul trouble midway through the second half and that is when the Jackets began to falter offensively as he picked up fouls number three and four in a two-minute span.
Tech used just six players in the main rotation with Ryan Mutombo added three minutes off the bench.
Notre Dame star guard Markus Burton missed the first game in Atlanta and was big for the Irish with 26 points and 18 of his points coming in the second half including two big threes to help that 13-0 run that put away the Jackets.
“There were times when we could’ve given up and let Georgia Tech beat us, but we kept fighting. I give a lot of credit to my teammates and this was a hard fought win,” Burton said.
Braeden Shrewsberry was the only other player in double figures for Notre Dame with 15 points, but he was 2-7 from three.
The Irish starting big men Tae Davis and Kebba Njie combined for just 10 points, but had 15 rebounds. Njie had a key hoop late to put the Irish up two scores late on an old-fashioned three-point play.
Tech returns home to face a surging Louisville squad at 3:45 pm.
Georgia Tech led for 19:47 of the first half before Matt Allocco hit a three at the buzzer to send the teams to the locker room tied at 37. The Irish were 7-14 in the first half from three while Tech was 7-7 at the free throw line to counter the threes. Notre Dame’s turnovers were the difference in the first half as they had six compared to only four for Tech.
Georgia Tech jumped out to a 7-1 lead and took a 7-4 lead into the first media timeout. However, fouls piled up early with Ibrahim Souare getting benched just a few minutes into the with two fouls. Tech took a seven-point lead into the third media timeout 32-25 with 3:44 left as both teams went back and forth. That lead shrunk to 32-28 with 2:28 left at the final media timeout and the Irish cut it to two out of the timeout, 32-30. Tech pulled ahead by five 37-32 on a Nait George three, but the Irish responded with a layup with 46 seconds left and a bad possession by Tech that ended with a Ndongo three from the corner that missed. Matt Allocco hit a three at the buzzer to tie the game at 37.
Tech opened the second half with a 6-0 run on easy buckets around the hoop leading to a Shrewsberry timeout with 17:33 left. Tech held the Irish scoreless into the first media timeout with 15:20 left in the game. The Irish finally scored with 14:52 left in the game. Notre Dame tied the game at 45 leading to a Stoudamire timeout and the Jackets responded with an and-one to go back up 48-45. Javian McCollum and Lance Terry were called for back-to-back fouls with ten minutes left in the game to give them both three fouls. After a Powell three, McCollum picked up his fourth foul with 8:46 left putting the Jackets in the bonus. Tech held a 59-55 advantage at the third media timeout with 6:52 remaining. At the final media timeout, Tech lead 62-58 with 4:00 remaining. Burton hit a three with 2:21 left in the game to pull the Irish within one. Burton hit another three to give the Irish their first lead, 64-62 as part of a 9-0 run with 1:49 left. Ndongo missed a free throw after hitting a layup that was waved off with 1:06 left on the front end of a one-and-one but the ball was out of bounds on the Irish. McCollum had a five second violation no the inbounds turning the ball over. Njie scored and Ndongo picked up his fourth foul with 37.8 left to put Notre Dame up 66-62 as part of an 11-0 run. George missed a three and Tae Davis hit a pair of free throws to put Notre Dame up 68-62 on a 13-0 run. Terry hit a layup with 13.8 left. Ndongo picked up his fifth foul with 11.7 left. Shrewsberry hit both free throws to go up 70-62. George added a layup with five seconds left and fouled with 4.5 left on the clock to make it 70-66.
In a stunning turn of events, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets collapsed late in the game against Notre Dame, ultimately falling 71-68. Despite leading for the majority of the game, Tech struggled to maintain their momentum in the final minutes, allowing Notre Dame to make a late-game comeback. The Yellow Jackets, known for their strong defense and efficient offense, seemed to crumble under the pressure in the closing moments of the game. Turnovers and missed opportunities plagued Tech, while Notre Dame capitalized on their mistakes and executed their plays with precision.
This loss serves as a valuable lesson for Tech, highlighting the importance of composure and focus in high-pressure situations. While the defeat is undoubtedly disappointing, the Yellow Jackets will use this experience to learn and grow as they continue their season.
Despite the setback, fans can rest assured that Tech will bounce back stronger and more determined than ever. With a talented roster and a resilient spirit, the Yellow Jackets are sure to redeem themselves in their next game.
