  • You can now get more than $10 off Monster Hunter Wilds ahead of launch

We may not get GTA 6 on PC in 2025, but you don’t have to wait long for some of the best PC games of the year to start arriving. February is looking absolutely stacked, with the likes of Civilization 7, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and Avowed all on the cards. But the biggest RPG launch on the calendar is Monster Hunter Wilds. Building on the huge success of Monster Hunter World, Capcom’s next game is already set to be a big deal, and if you want to be ready on day one then you can grab the upcoming game on Steam at an impressive 18% discount right now, saving you more than $10 on every version.

As the sequel to Capcom’s two best-selling games of all time, it’s fair to say that Monster Hunter Wilds is eyeing a prize as large as some of its colossal creatures. The open beta in November saw a peak Steam player count of more than 460,000, and while performance issues were a notable concern for many, the developer says that we can expect plenty of improvements in the final game, along with a round of weapon changes based on player feedback. If it can deliver on those promises, we may well have one of the best RPGs ever on our hands.

If you’ve never touched the series but are intrigued by the hype surrounding it, there are lots of reasons to be excited for the Monster Hunter Wilds release date. Like its recent predecessors, you’ll have a choice of 14 different Monster Hunter Wilds weapons ranging from the mighty Great Sword to the hack-and-slash Dual Blades and the darting, nimble Bow. Every option is almost a full game in itself, with enough depth to each play style to last a full playthrough if you want, but you can also chop and change between them if you prefer.

The full list of Monster Hunter Wilds monsters remains under wraps, and will likely stay that way to keep some surprises, but the creatures we’ve already seen include a very diverse range of foes to look forward to. You’ll be going up against everything from the agile fire monkey Ajarakan, which swings from the environment to attack from above, to lightning-infused apex predator Rey Dau and its nightmarish, alien screams.

Monster Hunter Wilds beta - The player approaches a Rey Dau atop rolling sand dunes.

You’ll be able to encounter another returning member of the roster, Gypceros, when the next Monster Hunter Wilds beta kicks off. But other than the new hunt, this next round of beta tests are simply another chance to try the game – they won’t include all the improvements teased by Capcom. For those, you’ll need to play the full game, and if you want to get one step ahead you can pre-order a copy at an impressive 18% discount through a Fanatical Steam sale.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available to buy on Steam through Fanatical at an 18% discount, meaning you’ll pay just $57.39 / £49.19. The discount also extends to the deluxe and premium deluxe editions – simply click the widget below or see the full list of options underneath.

  • SpaceX to launch 21 Starlink satellites on Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral – Spaceflight Now

File: A Falcon 9 stands ready for the Starlink 8-10 mission at Cape Canaveral’s Space Launch Complex 40. Image: Michael Cain/Spaceflight Now.

Update 1:30 a.m. EST (0630 UTC): SpaceX has delayed the launch to Tuesday.

SpaceX is preparing for its second Starlink launch of the month, this one from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The Starlink 12-3 mission on a Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) will be SpaceX’s 230th orbital launch from that pad. Liftoff is scheduled for 3:37 a.m. EST (0837 UTC) on Tuesday.

Spaceflight Now will have live coverage beginning about hour prior to liftoff.

SpaceX will use the Falcon 9 first stage booster 1069 on this mission, which will launch for a 21st time. It was previously used on missions like CRS-24, Eutelsat Hotbird-F1 and 16 Starlink flights.

A little more than eight minutes after liftoff, B1069 will target a landing on the SpaceX droneship, ‘Just Read the Instructions.’ If successful, it will be the 108th booster landing on JRTI and the 404th landing to date.

Onboard the rocket are 21 Starlink satellites, of which 13 have Direct to Cell capabilities.

SpaceX is gearing up for another exciting launch as they prepare to send 21 Starlink satellites into orbit on a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral. This mission is set to further expand SpaceX’s constellation of internet-beaming satellites, bringing high-speed internet access to even more remote areas around the globe.

The Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station during a launch window that opens at 9:17 a.m. EST. Once in orbit, the 21 Starlink satellites will join the hundreds already in operation, working to provide reliable internet coverage to underserved communities.

This launch marks another milestone for SpaceX as they continue to revolutionize the way we connect to the internet from anywhere on Earth. Stay tuned for updates on the launch and the deployment of the Starlink satellites as SpaceX continues to push the boundaries of space exploration and technology.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 performance testing

Good news if you’re planning to jump into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 when it launches on Tuesday: We’ve not only given the sandbox RPG a hearty recommendation in our review, it’s gotten a separate thumbs up from our hardware team, which put the RPG through its technical paces in our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 performance analysis.

The short version is that the CryEngine game can, as you’d expect, give any GPU a hard time at max settings and high resolutions, but scales well and is stable. Hardware Writer Nick Evanson didn’t experience any crashes during his testing.

The charts below show the performance you can expect on the medium quality preset for 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. There’s much more testing in Nick’s full performance guide, as well as recommendations for which settings to tweak.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review roundup

The Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 reviews are in—including our own—and the broad consensus seems to be that it’s a very good time.

Dozens of hours into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and still feeling like a newborn

Not a horse door. Got it.

Our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review – A new RPG classic

After some 70 hours traipsing around Bohemia with his dog (and horndog Hans), our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 reviewer Josh Wolens has rendered his judgement on Warhorse’s RPG. Good news: it’s fantastic. Here’s a little taster:

It’s the game’s systemic ambitions that really elevate it, though. There are times when Warhorse’s simulation of a medieval world approaches Stalker-levels of zeal. Stole something from someone’s house without being spotted? All well and good, but if someone spied you hanging around there they’ll still put two and two together and report you to the guards. I once got chased out of a fortress because I’d absent-mindedly equipped a stolen ring and walked past the schmuck I took it from.

It’s that kind of world: A world of rules, a world that feels interested in itself for its own sake, and that feels to some extent like it happens independent of you, the player.

By the end of the game, when you’re teeming with perks and fancy gear, you’ll be a rambling Bohemian Cuisinart turning all your foes to shreds, but even this feels like a more earned and systems-driven process than it does in your average Skyrim-inspired RPG. You’re not just inevitably climbing a levelling power curve, you’re feeling out the edges of the game—what’s possible, what’s impossible, what’s expected from you.

Without a review deadline looming, I’ve had the luxury of traversing the Bohemian countryside and the bustling city of Kuttenberg at a more leisurely pace (for 50 hours, so far), and frankly I don’t want the adventure to end. I haven’t had this much fun roleplaying since Baldur’s Gate 3—though they are very different RPGs. Yet, there are some important similarities: the immersive sim qualities, the attention to detail, the potent storytelling.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has more than earned its 90% score.

Ignatius the sheep is the GOAT

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has plenty of great characters, but none of them have stuck in my mind quite like Ignatius the sheep. I do not know who decided to get a voice actor to record his replies, rather than using the realistic animal noises that you’ll hear throughout the rest of the game, but it was a sublime choice. I would die for Ignatius. In fact, I have died for Ignatius. Defending him from a pack of wolves until my last breath. I love you, little buddy.

“It seems like someone is always trying to brand us somehow, and we are just trying to make a cool videogame.”

Ahead of tomorrow’s launch, we spoke with Warhorse’s global PR manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling and senior game designer Ondřej Bittner about the series’ focus on historical authenticity. In the first game, which is largely set in rural Bohemia, this led to most of the stories being focused on white, Christian characters. The only exception were the Cumans, Turkic mercenaries, who were largely presented as barbaric raiders. Coupled with game director Daniel Vávra’s conservative views and support for Gamergate, this led to KCD being characterised as a champion for “anti-wokeness”—this was despite the protagonist, Henry, being a relatively progressive character, given the historical period.

But Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s change in setting, where we get to explore a much more cosmopolitan city, Kuttenberg, allowed Warhorse to explore a more diverse set of characters, while also digging into the Cumen mercenaries, who are no longer simply villains. Unfortunately, this has inspired right wing reactionaries to attack the game for becoming “woke”.

“Several years ago, we were branded differently,” says Stolz-Zwilling. “Now we are branded that way. It seems like someone is always trying to brand us somehow, and we are just trying to make a cool videogame.”

Warhorse has employed the same historical consultant since it first started developing KCD, but now that it’s an established studio with more resources and a well-known game under its belt, its been able to spend more time digging into the history of Bohemia, with helps from universities, museums and academics.

“Everything makes sense. Everything we put there was double and triple checked,” says Stolz-Zwilling.

And it makes even more sense because of the larger scope and the urban setting that we get to explore in the game’s second half. Kuttenberg was one of the most important cities in the Holy Roman Empire, a location where people from all over Europe and beyond came to learn and trade. And during this time of civil war, with mercenaries and soldiers flooding in, its denizens are even more varied.

“Because there’s a city, there’s loads more effort to show how these people actually view the world, which is, I think, way more important than showing their fashion choices or or how they look,” says Bittner. “It’s how they view the world and the society around them, which is predominantly Christian and Czech-speaking. I think that it’s important to not just include these people, but their vision of the world, which can sometimes feel lacking in games or media that call themselves diverse.”

Our OG Kingdom Come: Deliverance review

We published our review of the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance back in February of 2018, seven years ago. It was a bit janky—Warhorse started developing the game with only 11 people—but had the scope and the looks of an RPG from a much more experienced, and larger, studio. We were pretty impressed at the time.

Kingdom Come is a mess of bugs, and there’s the constant feeling that independent developer Warhorse is biting off more than it can chew. But there’s a charm to its scrappiness, and it does enough interesting stuff that I’m willing to tolerate the creaky framework struggling to prop everything up. It’s one of the most satisfying, rewarding roleplaying experiences I’ve enjoyed on PC for a while, but the inconsistent performance and the game’s tendency to completely break does test my patience from time to time.

We ended up giving it a more than respectable 84%. And in a few hours you’ll be able to see how the sequel shapes up.

20 hours with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review is coming later today, but in the meantime why not check out what our reviewer Josh thought about his first 20 hours with the game?

I’ve rumbled with Cumans because I chose the wrong outfit; had my painstaking plans of attack disrupted by roving NPC caravans; gotten embroiled in fights that turned into grand, violent katamaris as more and more people joined in to help or hinder me; and lamented my lack of save-game potions more times than I can count. It’s tremendous fun, with all sorts of bizarre variables feeding into the emergent adventures I get into. With about 20 hours in the game so far, I’ve barely made a dent in the main quest, so preoccupied have I been with poking at the world and seeing what reactions it spits bac

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is finally here and fans are buzzing with excitement! As the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed medieval RPG, players are eager to dive back into the immersive world of Bohemia.

  • Dior Beauty Celebrates Addict Lip Glow Launch With Alexandra Daddario, Ava Phillippe

STARS AND LIGHTS: On Thursday evening Dior Beauty took over Below the Lights, the immersive event space in Piccadilly Circus in London, for its newly launched Addict Lip Glow.

Alexandra Daddario, Reese Witherspoon’s daughter Ava Phillippe, Meg Bellamy and Charithra Chandran attended the all-pink-and-chrome event that was filled with numerous interactive spaces and games. They included a bubble maze with mirrored walls that changes lighting from warm to cool tones that reflected the new beauty product’s formulation; a touch-and-try section that allowed visitors to test numerous products; a beauty claw machine that let winners take home small gifts, and a bowling alley downstairs that carried on the bubblegum-pink theme.

    More from WWD

Guests arrived in high spirits and some even had sentimental stories about their first beauty products from Dior.

“The first eye shadow I ever owned was from Dior, a gift from my mother on my 15th birthday. She had chosen two exquisite palettes, one with soft pastel shades and the other with rich browns, ensuring I had the perfect colors for any special occasion,” said Jessica Madsen, who stars in Netflix’s “Bridgerton” as Cressida Cowper.

“My mother was a former model and she’s incredibly skilled with makeup, and she taught me how to contour my eyes with a fair bit of precision. Those palettes weren’t just makeup — they were my first step into glamour, a defining moment in my journey into womanhood,” she added.

Madsen has just wrapped working on “Tidepools,” an indie coming-of-age film set against the backdrop of war, in which she plays an absent mother struggling with addiction.

She said stepping into the character was a challenge and a revelation that was “deeply exhilarating as an actor.”

English musician Flowerovlove, who is gearing up for her first show in Asia next week, made an appearance at the event wearing the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil over a lipliner. She described the combination of the two products as being “so warm that they melt on my lips.”

She remembers her first Dior beauty item being the Backstage Glow Palette. “I [still] use it as a blush and eye shadow,” she added.

Amelia Gething, the actor and writer who has starred in “Emily” and “The Spanish Princess” was right on theme at the event in her pink and red lace dress.

“I’m wearing a sparkly Dior beauty eye shadow with a beautiful Dior blush and my favorite Dior lipstick, which was actually my first beauty item from Dior. I’ve made it last as I only use it for special occasions,” she said.

Gething said she has a few secret projects in the pipeline that will all be revealed later this year.

  • IRS, national partners launch EITC Awareness Day on 50th anniversary of the Earned Income Tax Credit

EITC has helped America’s working families since 1975

    IR-2025-20, Jan. 31, 2025

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service and partners around the nation today celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) with the launch of this year’s EITC Awareness Day campaign.

The annual campaign, now in its 19th year, helps increase awareness among the millions of working Americans with a low-to-moderate income who are eligible for the EITC. The IRS estimates that roughly one in five eligible taxpayers miss out on claiming this valuable credit.

EITC was signed into law on March 29, 1975. Through numerous legislative changes, the tax break has helped encourage work and lift many financially challenged families out of poverty.

As of December 2024, approximately 23 million workers and families had received about $64 billion total from the EITC, according to IRS statistics. On average, eligible taxpayers received $2,743 from the credit in tax year 2023.

For the past 19 years, the IRS has invited community organizations, elected officials, state and local governments, schools, employers and other interested parties to join this national grassroots effort to help reach workers eligible for the credit. IRS offers an online social media toolkit with sample text and downloadable graphics to help spread the word about the EITC.

Who is eligible to claim the EITC?

Workers may use the EITC Assistant, an online tool, to check their eligibility, which may be affected by changes in marital, parental or financial status. Workers also may visit the Child-related tax benefits comparison page to learn more about basic eligibility rules for the EITC and several other tax credits.

EITC is for workers whose income did not exceed the following limits in 2024:

No. of dependents Single filer income limit Married, filing jointly income limit
    No children $18,591 $25,511
    1 child $49,084 $56,004
    2 children $55,768 $62,688
    3+ children $59,899 $66,819

    *Investment income limit: $11,600

    Workers also must:

    • Be a U.S. citizen or resident alien all year.
    • File a tax return even if their income level doesn’t usually require them to file.
    • Have a valid Social Security number (SSN) for themselves, as well as for their spouse, if filing a joint return, and for each qualifying dependent claimed for the EITC.
    • File a return without Form 2555, Foreign Earned Income.

There are special rules for military personnel, clergy and ministers and taxpayers with certain types of disability income or a child who is disabled.

Eligible workers between the ages of 25 and 64 who have no dependents may receive up to $632 by claiming the EITC, while married but separated spouses who do not file a joint return may qualify for the EITC if they meet certain requirements.

Those with qualifying children can receive a maximum of $7,830 when claiming the EITC for tax year 2024, up from $7,430 in tax year 2023.

    How to claim the EITC

To get the EITC, workers must file a tax return and claim the credit on that return. They can file in a variety of ways, including by using:

As a reminder, the quickest way for taxpayers to get their refund is by e-filing an accurate return and choosing to receive that refund via direct deposit.

    New this year: Duplicate dependents

Starting this filing season, the IRS will accept an e-filed return even if a dependent has already been claimed on a separate, previously filed return as long as the primary taxpayer on the second return includes a valid identity protection personal identification number (IP PIN).

This change will reduce the time it takes for the agency to receive the tax return and accelerate the issuance of tax refunds for those with duplicate dependent returns. In previous years, the second tax return had to be filed by paper.

Meanwhile, taxpayers who do not have IP PINs will have their e-filed returns rejected if one of their dependents has already been claimed by another taxpayer.

Note that the use of an IP PIN does not exempt taxpayers from receiving notices questioning their right to claim certain dependents.

    Claiming other valuable tax credits

Whether they qualify for the EITC, taxpayers may be eligible for other valuable tax credits, such as the Child Tax Credit (CTC), the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) or the Credit for Other Dependents (ODC). The Interactive Tax Assistant is a helpful tool for taxpayers to check their eligibility for those credits.

    When to expect EITC refunds

The Where’s My Refund? tool, which allows taxpayers to monitor the status of their refunds, will be updated with projected deposit dates for most early EITC/ACTC refund filers by Feb. 22. Most EITC or ACTC related refunds should be available in bank accounts or on debit cards by March 3 if there are no issues with a taxpayer’s return and they chose to receive their refund by direct deposit.

    Additional resources

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a vital program that helps millions of working Americans keep more of their hard-earned money. To celebrate this milestone, the IRS has teamed up with national partners to launch EITC Awareness Day.

The EITC is a refundable tax credit for low to moderate-income working individuals and families. It is designed to provide financial assistance to those who need it most, lifting them out of poverty and helping them achieve financial stability.

EITC Awareness Day aims to raise awareness about the EITC and encourage eligible individuals to claim this valuable credit on their tax returns. By doing so, they can receive a significant refund that can make a real difference in their lives.

The IRS and its partners are working together to spread the word about the EITC through various outreach efforts, such as social media campaigns, informational events, and community partnerships. They are also providing resources and tools to help individuals determine if they qualify for the credit and how to claim it.

If you or someone you know may be eligible for the EITC, be sure to take advantage of this valuable program. Visit the IRS website or speak with a tax professional to learn more about how you can benefit from the EITC on its 50th anniversary.

The new product comes in eleven shades, sold both individually ($24) and as a custom set of four ($92).

The colors range from neutral light pinks to deep cool browns. Pick a shade that compliments your natural lip tone for subtle definition or a darker shade for a more contoured look. There’s a built-in silicone smudger at one end of the applicator, allowing users to diffuse the pigment seamlessly or tidy up the edges for added control.

What makes the product so unique is how multifunctional it is. Either follow the natural lip line, overline for extra volume or fill in the lips entirely. For nourished lips with a subtle tint, apply the Peptide Lip Shape then swipe on Rhode’s Peptide Lip Tint ($18). For a more pigmented look, start with Peptide Lip Shape, tap on Pocket Blush ($24), then finish off with Peptide Lip Tint. The soft-focus color blends with a creamy formula comprised of high-performance skin care to give the lips dimension and a signature contoured effect.

The formula is cruelty free, vegan, gluten-free and dermatologist-tested, and includes peptides to soften the lips and fenugreek extract to enhance the look of lip volume and give lips a firmer appearance.

Buy individual Lip Shape shades for $24 or personalize a set of four for $92. As with other new launches, like last October’s Barrier Butter release, Rhode products sell out quickly.
