  • Charli xcx launches limited edition ‘Brat’ vinyl filled with “white powder” – News


    Calling all ‘365’ party girls! Charli xcx has launched a limited edition ‘Brat‘ vinyl, filled with “white powder“.

    Set to launch on February 28, ‘brat and it’s completely different’ has been created by unusual vinyl specialists Bad World, and will be distributed by limited press platform Blood Records.

    The limited edition consists of tracks from ‘Brat’ remix album ‘Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat‘, which debuted in October last year — featuring collaborations from Ariana Grande, Bladee, Shygirl, Lorde and more.

    In a homage to the hedonistic motifs of “‘Brat’ Summer“, disc one is filled with a white powder that shifts and moves as the record spins, while disc two has a clean white press.

    Blood Records posted a demonstration of the record on Instagram, describing the vinyl as “a remix project pressed exclusively to white powder filled LP.” Underneath the clip, Charli commented: “salt !”

    Bad World made headlines last year with another tongue-in-cheek design, having created “bathwater” liquid-filled vinyl for the Saltburn motion picture soundtrack. The team has also developed a “diamond-filled” LP for Elton John’s ‘Diamonds: The Greatest Hits’ and a “honey-filled” record for Troye Silvan’s ‘Something To Give Each Other’.

    The design has been met with a mixed reaction from social media users, with some praising the cheeky nod — instagram user heterpenry commented on Blood Records’ post: “we have cocaine filled AND cum filled records. the world is so beautiful,” while another added: “coke vinyl is certainly a new one but i love it!”

    Others have slammed the design, accusing Charli of “glamourising drug use.” Twitter user @folkloreilidh wrote: “I really hate to be that “too woke” friend but the glamourising of drugs that this “era” has brought is in fact really boring. As someone who’s watched people’s lives be destroyed by drugs both in my personal life and in work, it seems so damaging in my opinion.”

    A new Kickstarter campaign hopes to reprint the archives of the former Archigram magazine in 2025 with help from ARTBOOK D.A.P.

    The first authorized facsimile of all ten issues to be printed since 1963 aims to increase access to currently rare copies of the publication (the M+ museum acquired the complete Archigram archive in 2019 for $2.2 million) alongside an illustrated reader’s guide.

    Kickstarter will begin hosting the fundraising effort on Wednesday, February 19th. Tadao Ando, Beatriz Colomina, Norman Foster and Bernard Tschumi, and 24 other names will contribute reflections to go along the reprinted copies, which also include indexes of key concepts and contents, a scrapbook of previously unseen archival images, and biographies and bibliographies of its editors.

    The lot will include all the original flyers, pockets, a pop-up centerfold, 8 posters, 5 gatefolds, and an electronic resistor and is to be printed on 12 different paper stocks and housed in a large-format clamshell box designed by Miko McGinty.

    This is not to be confused with the new Archigram 10 that was issued this year by Circa Press and edited by founding member Peter Cook.

    The magazine itself is considered to be one of the most important publications of the highly experimental and intellectual era of British architecture, standing alongside the Architectural Review (whose influence was covered by a 2023 RIBA exhibition).

    Dennis Crompton, one of Archigram’s co-founders passed away earlier this month at the age of 89.

  • AXS launches biometric authentication feature for its mobile ticketing app


    Los Angeles-based AXS, AEG’s ticketing and event access platform, is launching globally its new biometric authentication feature found in the latest version of its AXS mobile app.

    With on-device biometric authentication, AXS users can login to their accounts and access tickets using their fingerprints or face biometrics. “This feature not only enhances security for our users but also streamlines the ticketing process, allowing fans to focus on enjoying their live event journey,” said Justin Burleigh, AXS chief product officer.

    AXS says the new feature provides improved account recovery, as users can recover their account using their biometric information, and reduces the likelihood of fraud.

    Last year saw the burgeoning use of biometrics for sports events with companies such as Wicket, Veridas, Clear and NEC, among others, leading the biometric charge. A recent survey showed nearly half of venues (47 percent) consider biometrics a top initiative for 2025 while there is research pointing to increased security and efficiency when deploying the technology at stadiums.

    Google has launched a new Search Labs experiment named “Ask for me.” Ask for me lets you use Google AI to call businesses on your behalf to find out what they charge for a service and also to find out when it’s available. This can work for services like like an oil change from nearby mechanics or other services.

    How to use it. To access this labs experiement, go here and click on “join to try.” Then when you search for relevant and related queries, like “oil jobs near me,” Google will show you this “Ask for me” box.

    Duplex. Yes, years ago, Google had this featured named Duplex that helped you make reservation appointments at restaurants within Google Search and Maps.

    Duplex is an AI-powered phone based-system for booking appointments with local businesses that don’t have online scheduling. It was first demonstrated at Google’s developer conference in May 2018. The demo, though controlled, was impressive and very “natural language” sounding.

    Why we care. This may be another way for Google to send more leads and business opportunities to businesses online. It is a super early labs experiment, and it is unknown if this will fully roll out but it is neat to see Google playing with this.

  • Hogwarts Legacy mod support update for PC launches January 30


    Publisher Warner Bros. Games and Portkey Games, and developer Avalanche Software will release a free update for the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy on January 30 that adds official mod support, the companies announced.

    Following the update, users will be able to easily access and download mods directly from the main menu in the game, and users who want to create their own mods can do so with the free Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit available via Epic Games Store.

    CurseForge will host and moderate the Hogwarts Legacy mods. The Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit will support modding new quests, dungeons, and character enhancements such as cosmetics and skins.

    Some of the mods shown off in the announcement video include “Dungeon of Doom,” a new dungeon packed with combat and hidden secrets, as well as new broom replacement mods, expanded character creation, outfit customization, and more.

    A Steam or Epic Games Store account linked to a Warner Bros. Games account will be required to access official Hogwarts Legacy mods, which can be done via this website.

    Hogwarts Legacy is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It has sold over 30 million copies.

  • Hogwarts Legacy PC Mod Support Launches Later This Week With Free Update


    Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software have confirmed plans to launch Hogwarts Legacy mod support for PC, opening the floodgates for players to add whatever their hearts desire to the Harry Potter video game.

    The team announced the addition with a special video presentation, below, revealing a release date of January 30, 2025 for a free update that includes the highly requested feature. It’ll only be for PC for now, with the team sharing no news about when or if players can expect to see modding come to consoles.

    “We’ve made it easy for everyone. It’s all simplified with official tools provided by us,” Avalanche community manager Chandler Wood said. “For mod creators, you’ll be able to get the official Hogwarts Legacy creator kit, free on the Epic Games Store. The creator kit provides powerful tools right at your fingertips, allowing you to flex your inner developer like the ones here at Avalanche and conjure the magic with custom mods that other players can enjoy, too.”

    Hogwarts Legacy mods will almost certainly devolve into chaos immediately as players rush to add Shrek, Thomas the Tank Engine, and more nonsense to the open-world Harry Potter game. Thankfully, Avalanche is here to help fans get a head start. The studio said it’s been working with members of the community to make a few mods available on day one, including creative broom options like dragons and a vacuum cleaner as well as unique cosmetics, an endless dungeon experience to test your combat skills, and a magical creature fetch quest. More community-generated content will no doubt appear in the months ahead, giving players more than enough content to keep them busy as Avalanche looks ahead.

    Hogwarts Legacy launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S in February 2023, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions following in May and the Nintendo Switch version following in November. That means it’ll celebrate its two-year anniversary next month with full-on mod support, but the free update is far from the only post-launch support the project has received since it arrived.

    Last year alone saw previously PlayStation-exclusive content coming to other platforms as part of a summer update that also added photo mode, new cosmetics, and more. Hogwarts Legacy has sold an incredible 30 million units as of November 2024.

    While we wait for mod support to drop, you can read up on why Avalanche says Hogwarts Legacy 2 is one of its “biggest priorities.” You can also see how the sequel may share a few elements with the upcoming Harry Potter TV show.

    “What led to this launch is the same thing that inspires all of my products—creating something essential for my daily routine,” Bieber shares. “I’m someone who does a lip combo every day. But I didn’t want this to be a traditional lip liner. It’s not about precision or perfectly lining your lips—it’s about play and creativity.”

    ‘Play’ and ‘creativity’ are two key terms that have always been infused in the beauty brand since launching in June 2022.

    Bieber explains that Peptide Lip Shape is inspired by the concept of contouring. “With contour, you can shape and structure your face. I wanted to bring that same playful approach to lips—experimenting, going beyond the lines, and creating a fuller, pillowy look that still feels natural.”

    With a creamy formula and built-in smudging tool, Peptide Lip Shape makes it easy to diffuse color for a natural, contoured effect.   • SpaceX Falcon 9 launches next-gen SpainSat NG 1 satellite into orbit

    SpaceX has launched the next-generation Spanish communications satellite Wednesday night (Jan. 29), soaring the spacecraft into a geostationary transfer orbit.





    On June 6, 2022, SpaceX successfully launched the next-generation SpainSat NG 1 satellite into orbit using its Falcon 9 rocket. The satellite, built by Spanish aerospace company Airbus Defence and Space, is designed to provide secure and reliable communications for the Spanish Ministry of Defence and other government agencies.

    The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, carrying the SpainSat NG 1 satellite into orbit. After a successful launch, the rocket’s first stage successfully landed on SpaceX’s drone ship “Of Course I Still Love You” in the Atlantic Ocean.

    The SpainSat NG 1 satellite is equipped with advanced technology, including a high-capacity X-band payload for secure communications and a Ka-band payload for broadband services. It will provide coverage over Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, enhancing Spain’s military communications capabilities and supporting national security efforts.

    SpaceX is set to launch the Hisdesat SpainSat Next Generation I via a Falcon 9 rocket out of Kennedy Space Center Wednesday night. SpaceX said that this will be the last flight for the Falcon 9 first-stage booster because of the additional performance needed to send the payload into orbit. The booster has been on 20 flights, including 13 Starlink missions. The European Space Agency’s SNG I satellite will provide more “cost-effective, adaptable and secure communication services for governments and emergency response teams” across Europe, the Americas and more, according to the ESA.   • Monica Lewinsky Launches First Podcast With Wondery


    Monica Lewinsky is launching her first podcast. 

    The show, entitled Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, will see Lewinsky in conversation with guests on what it means to “reclaim what has been lost or taken from them.” Initial guests include actor and writer Alan Cumming, tech journalist and author Kara Swisher, actress and activist Olivia Munn, actress and writer Molly Ringwald, singer and songwriter Joanna “JoJo” Levesque and author Anne Lamott. 

    The show, which is part of the Wondery slate, debuts Feb. 18, with episodes available widely or early to Wondery+ subscribers.
