Leading Supreme Court lawyer Tom Goldstein was rearrested Monday after federal prosecutors told a judge that the high-stakes poker player is a “serious” flight risk from his criminal tax evasion case and should have his bail revoked because he failed to disclose he controls two cryptocurrency wallets through which he received more than $8 million.

Over the last five days Goldstein “sent more than $6 million of cryptocurrency” from those wallets, despite having been ordered by a judge not to transfer any funds without approval, prosecutors wrote in a filing in Maryland federal court.

“Defendant’s conduct demonstrates that he is a serious risk of flight, that he cannot abide by the conditions of release, and that he has lied to this Court and Pretrial Services,” the Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office said in the filing.

“A rebuttable presumption that Defendant is a danger to the community now applies, and Defendant’s conditions of release should be revoked,” the filing says.

The SCOTUSblog publisher Goldstein was indicted in January on federal tax evasion charges that allege he failed to declare millions of dollars in poker winnings and used his law firm’s money to pay his gambling debts.

Goldstein, who has argued before the Supreme Court more than nearly any other attorney in private practice in modern times, is accused of willfully failing to pay more than $5.3 million in taxes.

One of the wallets Goldstein failed to disclose after his indictment in January has been used to send more than $73.6 million and to receive $75.6 million in cryptocurrency since it was first used in November 2022, the filing says.

Although no assets were in the wallet when Goldstein was indicted on Jan. 16, $10 worth of Tether crypto was sent to it on Feb. 4 — six days after his first appearance in court — and an hour later about $8 million worth of Tether was sent to the wallet, the filing says. Within two hours of that, about $6 million in Tether was sent out of the wallet in two separate transactions, the filing said.

This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates.

Supreme Court lawyer Tom Goldstein arrested after hiding cryptocurrency

Renowned Supreme Court lawyer Tom Goldstein has been arrested for allegedly hiding cryptocurrency assets from the government. Goldstein, who is known for his high-profile cases and legal expertise, was taken into custody after authorities discovered that he had failed to report over $1 million worth of cryptocurrency holdings.

The investigation into Goldstein’s finances began after suspicions were raised about his lavish lifestyle and extravagant spending habits. Authorities found evidence of large transactions and investments in various cryptocurrencies, which Goldstein had not disclosed to the IRS.

Goldstein’s arrest has sent shockwaves through the legal community, as many are questioning how such a prominent lawyer could be involved in such a scandal. His reputation and career are now in jeopardy as he faces charges of tax evasion and money laundering.

It serves as a stark reminder that no one is above the law, and that even the most respected individuals can find themselves in legal trouble if they try to evade their financial obligations. Goldstein’s case serves as a cautionary tale for others who may be tempted to hide assets in the fast-growing world of cryptocurrency.

  • What Happened To Carl Douglas, OJ Simpson’s Lawyer On The “Dream Team”

American Manhunt: OJ Simpson is the new documentary series that sheds light on the famous murder case, recently released and now available alongside the best documentaries on Netflix. American Manhunt outlines the timeline of the events leading up to Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman’s murders on June 12, 1994, to the aftermath of OJ Simpson’s criminal trial. By including interviews with some of the key people involved in the trial, American Manhunt: OJ Simpson has several unexpected reveals.

Along with delving deeply into the evidence of the case to uncover all the details, the best aspect of the documentary is the interviews with people who were on different sides of the case. Witnesses, lawyers for the prosecution and defense, and even a juror were involved in the documentary. In the years following OJ Simpson’s acquittal, the trial became a part of the cultural zeitgeist, and American Manhunt: OJ Simpson proves that interest in the case and those involved, like lawyer Carl Douglas, is still very strong, leading audiences to wonder what happened after the trial.

Carl Douglas Established His Own Law Firm After Winning The 1995 OJ Trial

Douglas Built His Name Under Johnnie Cochran Before Going Out On His Own

Prior to the OJ Simpson trial, Johnnie Cochran and his firm were best known as civil rights lawyers, rather than criminal lawyers. However, Cochran and Carl Douglas, who worked for him, became part of the “Dream Team” who successfully defended Simpson. During this time and until 1998, Douglas served as the managing attorney in Cochran’s law office. In 1998, Douglas left Cochran’s law firm to start The Douglas Law Group, which is still in business today.

Following the not-guilty verdict of the Simpson trial, the members of the “Dream Team” experienced a new level of fame, and became notable for their defense of high-profile clients. This includes Douglas, who gained a reputation as an impressive celebrity lawyer, meaning his career has been successful ever since. Throughout his career, Carl Douglas has defended numerous celebrities, including Tupac Shakur and P. Diddy while still working for Cochran.

However, Douglas defended many more famous clients and was involved in some of the biggest cases in the past three decades. For instance, Douglas was one of the lawyers for Patricia Anderson in a wrongful injury case against General Motors in 1999, leading to her being awarded $4.9 billion. The sum is one of the biggest payouts of all time and continued a successful streak for Douglas. Douglas has also represented Jamie Foxx, Michael Jackson, Queen Latifah, and more, proving that he is one of the most recommended people to call for celebrity defense (via Bustle).

What Happened To Kato Kaelin After The OJ Simpson Trial

Kaelin lived in Simpson’s guest house at the time of the murders and served as a witness, but he also maintained his fame after the trial ended.

Along with well-known actors and singers, Douglas has also defended athletes such as Darren Sharper and Elgin Baylor. While many of these examples were criminal cases for celebrities, some of his less well-known jobs were wrongful injury cases and civil rights cases. Some of the individuals that Douglas has defended have come under fire multiple times over the years, but he is likely one of the most skilled celebrity lawyers practicing today.

What Carl Douglas Has Said About The OJ Simpson Murder Case In The Years Since

Douglas Is Still On OJ Simpson’s Side In Netflix’s New Docuseries

Over the years, Douglas has been quite vocal about his time on OJ Simpson’s defense team and his belief that Simpson is innocent. He has also appeared in multiple documentaries to discuss his position as well, including O.J.: Made in America in addition to the newer American Manhunt: OJ Simpson. In 2014, 20 years after the murders, Douglas told CBS News that he always believed that Simpson was innocent and that the LAPD had tampered with evidence, which he also alleges in Netflix’s new documentary.

While the case continues to be divisive, one thing that is very clear from the appearances that Douglas has made and interviews that he has given is that he continues to believe in Simpson’s innocence.

Aside from his adamant belief that Simpson was rightfully acquitted, Douglas has mentioned to multiple sources, including in American Manhunt, that the prosecution are still sore losers, particularly Chris Darden, who also appears in the docuseries. While the case continues to be divisive, one thing that is very clear from the appearances that Douglas has made and interviews that he has given is that he continues to believe in Simpson’s innocence. American Manhunt: OJ Simpson demonstrates the massive impact that this case has had on everyone involved, including Carl Douglas.

  • Jay Z Wants Lawyer Fined Over Lawsuit Accusing Him and Diddy of Rape

    • Jay-Z is seeking sanctions over a “Jane Doe” lawsuit that accuses him and Diddy of rape.
    • He wants the case dismissed and the Doe’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, to pay a cash fine.
    • The lawsuit alleges Jay-Z and Diddy raped the 13-year-old Doe after the 2000 VMA awards.

Rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter is fighting back against a lawsuit that alleges he and Sean “Diddy” Combs raped a 13-year-old girl during a Video Music Awards after-party in 2000.

In a legal filing Wednesday, the music entrepreneur asks a federal judge in Manhattan to dismiss the lawsuit and order monetary sanctions against Tony Buzbee, the Texas attorney who sued over the alleged incident in October.

The rape claim suffers from “substantial inaccuracies” which should have led Buzbee to drop the lawsuit, Carter’s filing says.

Those include woman’s father telling NBC News he had no memory of picking his distraught young daughter up from the after-party and driving her home as described in the lawsuit.

“It strains credulity,” Carter’s filing says, “that a father — impelled to jump into his car in the middle of the night to undertake a minimum 10-hour round trip to pick up his 13-year-old daughter at a random gas station—would forget the entire episode.”

Buzbee has also been unable to explain why the Alabama woman who filed the suit, now in her late-30s, told NBC News in December that she had a conversation at the after-party with rapper Benji Madden, whose distinctive “The Last Supper” tattoo she described to the network. Madden later told NBC that he was touring the Midwest during the VMAs that year.

Combs and Carter have both denied the sexual assault.

“A single, initial media interview turned up glaring problems that counsel had either ignored or never investigated,” Wednesday’s Carter filing, drafted by Manhattan attorney Alex Spiro, complains.

In court filings, Buzbee has dismissed both inconsistencies as unsurprising memory lapses.

“Calling this a ‘memory lapse’ cannot obscure counsel’s lapses in investigating whether multi-decade-old recollections aligned with reality,” Carter’s filing says.

“These factual discrepancies are neither isolated nor surprising. They result from Mr. Buzbee’s rush to launch allegations unhindered by mandatory diligence,” the filing says, asking the judge assigned to the lawsuit to impose unspecified cash damages and drop the lawsuit.

Reached for comment Wednesday night, Buzbee said, “With every frantic filing the defense in this case grows more desperate. The rules apply equally to everyone, even those who wrongly think they are above the law. No one is above the law.”

The original lawsuit was brought against Combs, his companies, and unnamed accomplices, including “Celebrity A.” Carter was identified as Celebrity A when the suit was amended December.

Since then, Buzbee and Carter have traded barbs in public statements and court documents, including a previous filing by the rapper seeking dismissal and sanctions. Two weeks after Carter was named as “Celebrity A” in the revised lawsuit, Buzbee filed a new lawsuit accusing Carter’s Roc Nation of trying to intimidate his law firm and turn his plaintiffs against him.

“This conduct was specifically targeted at our firm so we would not pursue cases related to the Diddy litigation,” Buzbee said at the time in a statement to Business Insider. “But, we will not be bullied or intimidated.”

Jay Z filed a motion in court requesting for the lawyer representing the woman accusing him and Diddy of rape to be fined for filing a frivolous lawsuit. The lawsuit, which alleges that Jay Z and Diddy drugged and sexually assaulted the woman, has been vehemently denied by both artists.

In the court documents, Jay Z’s legal team argues that the lawsuit is baseless and lacks any credible evidence to support the claims made by the woman. They go on to accuse the lawyer of filing the lawsuit as a publicity stunt and an attempt to tarnish the reputations of both Jay Z and Diddy.

The motion for the lawyer to be fined comes as a response to what Jay Z and Diddy’s legal team see as a blatant abuse of the legal system. They are seeking to hold the lawyer accountable for what they believe to be a malicious attempt to defame their clients.

As the legal battle continues, it remains to be seen whether the court will grant Jay Z’s motion for the lawyer to be fined. In the meantime, both Jay Z and Diddy continue to maintain their innocence and refute the allegations made against them.

  • Blake Lively Allegedly Doesn’t Want Justin Baldoni’s Lawyer to Take Her Deposition

    • Kevin Fritz, a lawyer for Justin Baldoni, clamed in a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman that the actress is objecting to Baldoni’s lead attorney Bryan Freedman taking her deposition in court
    • The letter comes days before a pre-trial conference in the It Ends with Us costars’ legal battle involving claims of sexual harassment, defamation and more
    • PEOPLE is out to Lively’s legal team for comment on the deposition claims

Blake Lively has allegedly requested for Justin Baldoni‘s lead attorney, Bryan Freedman, not to take her deposition in court.

In a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman filed Thursday, Jan. 30, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, another lawyer for Baldoni, Kevin Fritz, claimed that Lively and Ryan Reynolds‘ legal team “stated their objection to the Wayfarer Parties’ lead counsel conducting the deposition of Blake Lively.”

“Specifically, the Lively Parties’ counsel indicated that they object to Bryan J. Freedman, personally, taking Ms. Lively’s deposition, based upon unspecified statements made by Mr. Freedman,” Fritz wrote. In addition, he claimed that “counsel for the Lively Parties declined” to “elaborate on the grounds for their objection,” when asked to do so by Baldoni’s team.

Fritz’s letter additionally stated, “We are unaware of any situation that would warrant the deposed party to have a choice in which attorney takes her deposition.”

“Parties to litigation simply do not have the right to dictate which of their opponents’ attorneys may or may not take their deposition or perform any other aspect of the opposing party’s case,” he added.

Lively, 37, sued Wayfarer Studios and Baldoni, plus It Ends with Us lead producer Jamey Heath, Baldoni’s publicist Jennifer Abel, crisis publicist Melissa Nathan and more in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment and a smear campaign launched in retaliation for speaking out about alleged misconduct. Baldoni, 41, has denied the sexual-harassment allegations.

In turn, Baldoni countersued Lively, her husband Reynolds, 48, and their publicist Leslie Sloane, as well as Sloane’s PR firm Vision PR, Inc., on accusations of defamation and extortion.

Both cases in Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al. are scheduled for trial on March 9, 2026, Judge Liman outlined in an order filed Monday, Jan. 27.

Fritz also stated in his Thursday letter that Baldoni’s team “look forward to further discussing” the deposition “matter” at the upcoming pre-trial conference on Monday, Feb. 3, which has been scheduled to hash out Lively’s prospective request for a gag order.

After Freedman leaked a 10-minute video from the It Ends With Us set earlier this month and announced plans for a website to disclose more, lawyers for Lively motioned for a conference before Judge Liman to address “the appropriate conduct of counsel.”

They wrote in the letter that “federal litigation must be conducted in court and according to the relevant rules of professional conduct” and claimed Freedman’s interviews and statements risked “tainting the jury pool.”

Reynolds and Lively’s legal team also filed a notice on Thursday in accordance with Judge Liman’s order, which outlined the next steps for their federal case.

In their letter submitted to Judge Liman Thursday, Michael J. Gottlieb, an attorney for Lively, Reynolds and Wayfarer Studios LLC, wrote, “The Lively-Reynolds Parties intend to move to dismiss Plaintiffs’ complaint.”

An official motion to request a case dismissal has not yet been filed by Lively and Reynolds, but is presumably forthcoming.

In a recent legal battle, actress Blake Lively is reportedly fighting against having her deposition taken by Justin Baldoni’s lawyer. The Gossip Girl star is embroiled in a lawsuit with Baldoni, a fellow actor and director, and is allegedly attempting to avoid being questioned by his legal counsel.

Speculation is rife as to why Lively is resisting the deposition, with some suggesting that she may have concerns about the impartiality of Baldoni’s lawyer. Others believe that Lively may be trying to protect sensitive information or avoid potential legal pitfalls.

Regardless of the reasons behind Lively’s reluctance, the case continues to unfold with both parties gearing up for a legal showdown. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Store owner hires lawyer to investigate Town Center at Cobb mall owner – WSB-TV Channel 2

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta mall that shut down for a day over unpaid power bills turned the lights back on Wednesday. Now, one of the store owners tells Channel 2 Action News that he wants to take action against the mall.

Shane Starr, who owns Starrcade inside the mall, said he has hired a lawyer to investigate the property owner. He also hopes to band together with other business owners at some point to file a class action lawsuit against the owner.

“We’re trying to get compensated for the unfair usage of our rent. There are line items for utilities which I’ve been paying for a year and a half since we signed our lease here. To find out that we pay month after month after month and then he turns around and their group turns around and doesn’t pay their utility bills, it makes you ask where the money is actually going?” Starr told Channel 2′s Michele Newell.

Kohan Retail Investment Group owns Town Center at Cobb. Utility companies in other states confirmed with Newell that the same company has run into similar problems in Kansas, Ohio and Iowa.

“Towne West Square was disconnected for nonpayment 7 times in the past 12 months. The mall has been owned by Kohan Retail Investment Group during these shutoffs,” said Courtney Lewis, who is the Senior Communications Manger of Media for Energy.

“I can confirm Ohio Edison had notified Chapel Hill Mall at least twice that electric service was in danger of disconnection because of nonpayment before the mall ultimately closed,” said Hannah Catlett,  Advanced Communications Representative.

    TRENDING STORIES:

According to the Cobb County Tax Commissioner’s Office, there are currently three tax liens against the property owner for 2024, with more than $1,000,000 in back taxes that were due in October of 2024.

The Cobb County tax commissioners officers says it reached out to the owner multiple times before officially filing the tax liens and reached out multiple times this year.

The office said it’s last resort is a tax sale which could happen in May if the back taxes aren’t paid. Between now and May the County tax commissioner said there will be a series of steps her office takes leading to the tax sale, if the owner fails to pay what is owed.

“I hate that this guy did this, but at the same time I still really want to see this mall succeed,” said Starr.

“We care about this mall and we are here a lot and to find out that somebody is trying to make a profit off not caring about it really upset us. We’re here today to kind of give what money we can as young adults who don’t make a lot to the small businesses,” said Ezra Morrison.

Channel 2 Action News first told you Tuesday about the Town Center at Cobb posting signs on the main entrances that it would be closed.

The mall’s owner claimed a maintenance issue resulted in the closure and that it would be resolved in two hours. However, Channel 2 Action News learned that the mall had “highly delinquent” Georgia Power bills.

Georgia Power officials told Newell that they have been working with Town Center for several months to resolve the payments and disconnecting service at the mall was a “last resort.”

The anchor stores, Belk, Macy’s and JCPenney, were able to stay open since they paid their own bills and have separate entrances.

In a recent development, a store owner at Town Center at Cobb mall has taken legal action by hiring a lawyer to investigate the mall owner. The store owner believes that there may be unethical practices or breaches of contract by the mall owner that are negatively impacting their business.

According to WSB-TV Channel 2, the store owner has expressed concerns about the lack of transparency and communication from the mall owner, leading them to seek legal counsel to look into the matter further. The lawyer will be examining the lease agreements, financial records, and any other relevant documents to determine if there are any grounds for legal action.

The store owner hopes that by taking this step, they will be able to protect their business interests and hold the mall owner accountable for any wrongdoing. As this story continues to unfold, it raises important questions about the rights and responsibilities of both mall owners and tenants in commercial lease agreements.

  • ASAP Rocky lawyer says gun in alleged Hollywood shooting was a prop

On the night he allegedly shot a founding member of the New York rap crew that helped launch his career, ASAP Rocky was carrying only a “prop gun” from a music video shoot that couldn’t fire real bullets, his defense attorney said Friday.

During opening arguments in the rap star’s Los Angeles assault trial, defense attorney Joe Tacopina painted Rocky — whose real name is Rakim Mayers — as the victim rather than the aggressor in an assault case that could end with him facing up to 20 years in prison.

Prosecutors have accused Mayers of shooting Terrell Ephron, a.k.a. ASAP Relli, on a Hollywood street corner after a heated argument on Nov. 6, 2021. The two were longtime friends and members of the Harlem rap crew ASAP — which stands for “Always Strive and Prosper” — but had grown apart in recent years.

While much of the prosecution’s case was aired last year during a preliminary hearing, this week was the first time the public got a look at Tacopina’s defense strategy. For an hour Friday afternoon, Tacopina hammered Ephron’s credibility, arguing he only reported Mayers to the police to boost a civil suit and insisting he knew Mayers was carrying a fake weapon.

Tacopina pointed to the fact that LAPD officers found “no evidence” of a shooting when they responded to 911 calls in the area that night, and questioned how Ephron — not the police — managed to recover two shell casings when he returned to the scene an hour later.

“What you’ll learn is that Relli returned to that scene an hour later and he attempted to fabricate evidence,” Tacopina said. “This is some offensive stuff.”

But prosecutors made a disclosure shortly before opening arguments began Friday that could upend that approach.

Deputy Dist. Atty. John Lewin said prosecutors received a late piece of “ballistic evidence” from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division on the eve of trial. The analysis, according to Lewin, confirmed the shell casings recovered at the shooting scene were most likely fired from a 9mm handgun. The “somewhat unique” markings could match to a “subset” of Glock firearms, Lewin said.

While police never found the weapon used in the shooting, the evidence could potentially undercut Tacopina’s “prop gun” defense, as such a device would fire blanks, not 9mm rounds.

Tacopina was incensed by the eleventh-hour revelation and asked Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold to delay opening arguments or restart jury selection in light of the new information. Arnold declined both requests, noting the evidence was not tantamount to “a smoking gun,” such as an eyewitness claiming Mayers was the shooter.

“This is not right. It’s not fair to him,” Tacopina said, pointing to Mayers.

An LAPD spokeswoman could not immediately explain why the evidence was turned over so late in a case that police presented to prosecutors in 2022.

Tacopina said the case was about Ephron’s “jealousy, lies and greed,” noting the accuser didn’t report the shooting to LAPD until two days later, after he’d retained a civil attorney. He also pointed to text messages Ephron sent claiming he was going to “get this … money” from Mayers.

“This case is all about money … an attempt at extortion by Relli so he can keep funding his extravagant lifestyle,” Tacopina said.

Tacopina said it was “miraculous” that Ephron was able to recover shell casings after seven LAPD officers searched and found nothing. He repeatedly called the prosecution’s chief witness a “perjurer” who knew Mayers was carrying a prop gun.

Mayers has a permit to carry a concealed weapon in California, according to Tacopina, but did not pack a real firearm even though he’d been threatened in the months leading up to the shooting. Tacopina said Mayers took the prop gun from the set of a recent music video shoot he’d filmed alongside Rihanna, his longtime partner with whom he has two children.

In his opening statement, Deputy Dist. Atty. Paul Przelomiec said the case was not “complicated” and largely played a pair of surveillance videos that showed Mayers and Ephron arguing and wrestling with each other on Argyle Avenue in Hollywood.

Mayers, who was flanked by two other founding members of the ASAP crew, can be clearly seen pulling a handgun from his waistband in one video. A second clip captures audible pops that sound like gunshots, but neither clip directly captures the shooting.

Przelomiec described Mayers as the aggressor in the incident, pointing to texts he sent Ephron demanding to meet up hours before the shooting. The pair had been arguing over text in recent weeks because Ephron, mistakenly, believed Mayers hadn’t paid for the funeral of a fellow crew member who had died of a drug overdose.

While the injuries Ephron suffered were extremely minor — photos displayed small scrapes on two of his knuckles — Przelomiec noted severe wounds were not necessary for a jury to find Mayers guilty of assault. Przelomiec also said he was not concerned by LAPD’s failure to locate shell casings at the scene, noting calls to 911 on the night of the incident did not pinpoint the exact location of the shooting.

Przelomiec also pointed to a search warrant executed in 2022 at Mayers’ Los Angeles residence, where police recovered a half-empty 9mm magazine. Tacopina countered that the ammunition contained in the magazine was a different brand from the type Ephron said he recovered at the scene. There is no forensic evidence tying Mayers to the shell casings.

The case, Tacopina said, relies entirely on Ephron’s testimony.

“This cases rises or falls on his credibility. The videos you saw, without his testimony, prove absolutely nothing,” Tacopina said. “You need to believe his testimony and his version of events from the video for these charges to be proven.”

Przelomiec, meanwhile, painted a portrait of betrayal, one where Ephron went to meet up with Mayers hoping to repair their fractured friendship and never expected to be met with violence.

“In his state of mind, he never believed he was going to be shot. He never believed the defendant would actually shoot him,” Przelomiec said. “He will tell you had this been a stranger, someone he didn’t know as well, he would have been petrified.”

But as their argument worsened, in the seconds before he claims he was shot, Ephron had a realization, according to Przelomiec.

“These men never came here to make peace with him,” the prosecutor said.

In a recent development in the case involving ASAP Rocky, his lawyer has come forward to claim that the gun allegedly used in the Hollywood shooting was actually just a prop. This new information has raised questions about the validity of the charges against the rapper and has sparked further debate about the use of props in the entertainment industry.

It remains to be seen how this revelation will impact the ongoing legal proceedings, but it certainly adds an interesting twist to the case. Stay tuned for more updates as this story continues to unfold.

  • Suits LA’s Stephen Amell Is the ‘Only’ Lawyer ‘Cockier’ Than Harvey Specter in First Trailer

    Suits LA is nearly here!

In the upcoming series, Stephen Amell stars as “Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles,” according to an official synopsis.

“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career,” the description continues. “Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”

In the new trailer for the highly-anticipated series, Ted wastes no time getting down to business as he offers a new contract to potential client Dylan Pryor (Victoria Justice).

“You don’t represent me. I need someone with confidence. And you just seem a little sheepish to me,” she counters but Ted still claims he’s “the best attorney in the country.”

Meanwhile, Rick Dodsen (Bryan Greenberg) informs his coworker Erica Rollins (Lex Scott Davis) that “Ted is making you and me co-heads of entertainment.”

“Come again?” Erica responds before indicating that she will come out on top and he replies, “You being on top of me. That’s a fantasy, it’s never gonna happen.”

“We’ll see about that Ricky,” she teases.

Ted then admits “it’s different out here” in Los Angeles, adding, “People lie. They cheat. They do whatever they can to win.”

The trailer concludes by teasing the connection between Ted and Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) from the original series. The men are seen together in a throwback photo.

“I never liked him,” Kevin (Troy Winbush) tells Ted. “The only person I knew cockier than you.”

“That’s exactly why I liked him,” he replies.

Macht, 53, is set to reprise his role for a three-episode appearance in the reboot. The actor shared a video of his outfit — a dress shirt with the initials “H.S.” stitched into it and shoes with the name “Harvey” printed on the soles — on Instagram on Nov. 20.

“When an old friend is in need… it’s time to take care of things and make those very ‘things’ right,” he captioned the post.

Amell, 43, teased the connection between the characters in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last month.

“You’ll notice behind my desk that there’s a picture of a young Ted Black with what can only be a young Harvey Specter [Gabriel Macht], so there’s clearly a history between the characters,” he shared.

“We came up together in the D.A.’s office. So if I was going to have anyone [from the original cast] come back, I would want it to be Gabriel,” he continued. “I would really hope that that happens, because I am very much a fan of his character and I think that that dynamic would be something that the viewers would really enjoy.”
