Preview: Parma vs. Lecce – prediction, team news, lineups
Sports Mole previews Friday’s Serie A clash between Parma and Lecce, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Both beaten by a Milan giant last week, Serie A strugglers Parma and Lecce will meet for a Friday night survival scrap at Stadio Tardini.
While the hosts let victory slip at San Siro, leaving them level on points with their visitors, Lecce shipped four goals for the second straight week and plunged into the drop zone.
Match preview

Despite leading 2-1 until the 91st minute, Parma somehow contrived to come away empty-handed from last week’s meeting with AC Milan, conceding twice during stoppage time to lose 3-2.
Goals from Matteo Cancellieri and Enrico Del Prato put the plucky away side in charge at San Siro, but Milan pulled off an improbable comeback to claim maximum points.
As a result of their latest painful failure to retain an advantage, Fabio Pecchia‘s men have won only one of their last eight league matches, conceding 17 times in the process.
In fact, over the past eight matchdays, only Serie A’s rock-bottom club Monza have accrued fewer points than Parma, while only Friday’s opponents have leaked more goals.
Despite such a streak, the Gialloblu are still hovering just above the relegation places on goal difference, amid a tightly-packed bottom half of the table.
Two clashes with direct rivals – first Lecce, then Cagliari – could now prove crucial in their quest for survival, and Parma come into this week’s contest with history firmly on their side.
© Imago
After an eventful 2-2 draw in this season’s reverse fixture, Lecce have won just one of their last 23 top-flight matches against Parma – a 1-0 victory at the Tardini, way back in February 2011.
The Salentini came so close to a rare victory in September, when both teams were reduced to 10 men during the second half, but they failed to get over the finish line, conceding twice after the 90th minute.
While Parma endured a similar climax to their match last week, Lecce were simply swatted aside by the black-and-blue side of Italy’s second city, as Serie A champions Inter Milan cruised to a 4-0 win at Stadio Via del Mare.
Therefore, Marco Giampaolo‘s men have lost their last two games while conceding eight times, and such defensive deficiencies are too often exposed on the road: the Giallorossi have shipped 11 goals during their last four away fixtures – only one fewer than throughout the previous 12.
Also the league’s lowest scorers, with just 15 strikes from 22 matches, Lecce may seem bound for Serie B; yet victory on Friday would take them out of the drop zone at Parma’s expense.

Parma still have a stubbornly long absence list, as defensive trio Botond Balogh, Yordan Osorio and Alessandro Circati all join Adrian Bernabe, Mateusz Kowalski and Gabriel Charpentier on the sidelines. Furthermore, captain Enrico Del Prato must serve a suspension.
Chief creator Dennis Man – who has seven Serie A goal involvements this season – is also highly doubtful due to a thigh strain, so Pontus Almqvist could be offered a chance to replicate his goal in September’s reverse fixture.
Ange-Yoan Bonny has returned to training and can compete with new signing Milan Djuric to start up front, while recently-acquired winger Jacob Ondrejka will hope to make his debut.
Meanwhile, Lecce will travel to Emilia-Romagna without Hamza Rafia, Medon Berisha, Kialonda Gaspar, Lameck Banda and Filip Marchwinski.
Set to seal a high-profile transfer to the Premier League, versatile winger Patrick Dorgu is unlikely to feature, so Antonino Gallo should return at left-back.
Montenegrin striker Nikola Krstovic – who scored when these clubs met at Via del Mare earlier this season – is the only Lecce player to net more than one away goal in Serie A so far.
Parma possible starting lineup:
Suzuki; Hainaut, Valenti, Vogliacco, Valeri; Sohm, Hernani; Almqvist, Cancellieri, Mihaila; BonnyLecce possible starting lineup:
Falcone; Guilbert, Baschirotto, Jean, Gallo; Coulibaly, Pierret, Helgason; Pierotti, Krstovic, Morente
We say: Parma 2-1 Lecce
Only one team has a worse away record than Lecce, and they are still struggling to score goals, so even a brittle Parma side should secure three points on Friday evening.
Without doubt, the Gialloblu have a greater cutting edge than their visitors, and they can use it to inch further away from danger.

(Photo by Gabriele Maltinti/Getty Images) The Denmark international has lined up as a starter in every other Serie A match he has been available for this season. He has only missed one other game in 2024-25, which came against Torino four matches into the season when he was surviving a one-match suspension.
He has been replaced by Antonino Gallo in the starting line-up for tonight’s match against Parma.
Dorgu is expected to officially join Manchester United before the January transfer deadline on Monday.
Lecce and Manchester United have already agreed upon fees, there is an agreement on personal terms, and the 20-year-old is expected to travel over to the UK for his medical with United over the weekend.
Italian club Lecce has left out Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis, also known as Dorgu, from their starting line-up as they wait for his move to Manchester United to be finalized.Dorgu has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League giants after impressing with his performances in Serie A. The 24-year-old has scored six goals in 19 league appearances so far this season, catching the eye of several top clubs.
Lecce has decided to leave Dorgu out of their line-up as they wait for the transfer to be completed, with the player reportedly keen on making the move to Old Trafford. The Italian club is said to be holding out for a substantial transfer fee for the talented striker.
Manchester United are in need of attacking reinforcements, and Dorgu could provide a much-needed boost to their forward line. The Red Devils will be hoping to wrap up the deal quickly so that Dorgu can join them and start making an impact in the Premier League.

Manchester United make €30m Patrick Dorgu offer to Lecce
Manchester United have tabled a €30million (£25.3m; $31.4m) bid for Lecce wing-back Patrick Dorgu.
The Athletic reported on January 22 that the two clubs were €10m apart in negotiations for the Denmark international, who Lecce priced at €40m while United indicated a willingness to go to €30m.
United’s director of negotiations Matt Hargreaves met with Lecce sporting director Pantaleo Corvino in Milan.
Figures at United are hopeful that a deal will be agreed and if one is, Dorgu would become the first senior arrival at Old Trafford under head coach Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese has been keen to add reinforcements in the January window amid a run of form that has seen his side slip to just 10 points above the Premier League’s relegation zone.
GO DEEPER
Why Manchester United have a cash problem
The versatile Dorgu, who is left-footed, is capable of playing on either flank and has a profile compatible with Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation.
The 20-year-old has been capped four times by Denmark and has made 43 first-team appearances for Lecce, who he joined from Danish club Nordsjaelland in 2022. He has scored three times in Serie A this term.
The right-sided wing-back role has most often been filled by Amad, who is naturally a wide forward, or the versatile defender Noussair Mazraoui, who joined from Bayern Munich in the summer. While on the left, Diogo Dalot has been Amorim’s preferred option with Luke Shaw out injured and Tyrell Malacia only recently returning from an absence of more than a year.

In a surprising move, Manchester United has reportedly made a €30m offer to Italian club Lecce for their talented young midfielder Patrick Dorgu. The 20-year-old has been turning heads with his impressive performances in Serie A this season, and it seems that the Red Devils are keen to secure his services.Dorgu has been likened to Manchester United legend Paul Pogba for his playing style and potential, and it’s no wonder that the Premier League giants are interested in bringing him to Old Trafford. The Nigerian-born midfielder has already made a name for himself in Italy, and he could be a valuable addition to United’s midfield.
Lecce are said to be considering the offer, as they may be tempted by the significant sum being offered for Dorgu. However, they will want to ensure that they are adequately compensated for losing one of their most promising talents.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United’s bid will be accepted, but fans of the club will no doubt be excited at the prospect of seeing Dorgu in the famous red jersey. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing transfer saga.

Inzaghi makes 4 changes to starting XI in Lecce Vs Inter Serie A clash
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is set to make four changes to the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven against Lecce this evening.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Matteo Darmian, Carlos Augusto, Piotr Zielinski, and Davide Frattesi will start.
Inter take on Lecce in Serie A this evening.
The pressure is certainly on the Nerazzurri to take three points from the match. Napoli’s win over Juventus yesterday has taken the Partenopei temporarily six points clear of Inter at the top of the table.
As such, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will hardly be putting out a weak starting eleven.
However, on the other hand there are also important matches just on the way to consider.
On Wednesday, Inter Milan face a crunch Champions League clash with Monaco.
Then next weekend it is the derby against AC Milan. That kicks off a February schedule which sees Inter playing several massive matches.
Inzaghi Plans Four Changes To Starting XI For Serie A Clash Vs Lecce
The Gazzetta anticipate that Inter coach Inzaghi will therefore be making some changes to the team.
In defense, Benjamin Pavard will drop out of the starting eleven. It will be veteran former Manchester United and Torino defender Matteo Darmian who replaces him.
EMPOLI, ITALY – OCTOBER 30: Davide Frattesi of FC Internazionale passes the ball during the Serie A match between Empoli and FC Internazionale at Stadio Carlo Castellani on October 30, 2024 in Empoli, Italy. (Photo by Gabriele Maltinti/Getty Images) Then, on the right flank, Carlos Augusto will start, reports the Gazzetta. Therefore, Federico Dimarco will have the opportunity to rest.
Lastly, there will be two changes in midfield.
Piotr Zielinski will take the place of Kristjan Asllani in holding midfield. Meanwhile, Davide Frattesi will get his first Serie A start in three months.
Inzaghi shakes things up with 4 changes to starting XI for Lecce Vs Inter Serie A clashIn a bid to secure a crucial victory against Inter in their upcoming Serie A clash, Lecce manager Simone Inzaghi has made some bold changes to his starting lineup. The Italian tactician has decided to make four key alterations to his squad in hopes of turning their fortunes around.
One of the most notable changes sees goalkeeper Marco Silvestri dropped in favor of the talented young shot-stopper Alessio Cragno. This decision comes after a string of underwhelming performances from Silvestri, and Inzaghi will be hoping that Cragno can provide some much-needed stability at the back.
In defense, Inzaghi has opted to bring in veteran center-back Giorgio Chiellini to shore up the backline. Chiellini’s leadership and experience will be crucial in dealing with Inter’s attacking threats, and his presence could prove to be a game-changer for Lecce.
In midfield, Inzaghi has decided to give youngster Nicolo Barella a starting spot, hoping that his energy and creativity can unlock Inter’s defense. Barella has impressed in recent weeks and will be looking to make a big impact in this crucial fixture.
Up front, Inzaghi has decided to shake things up by starting the dynamic duo of Ciro Immobile and Joao Pedro. The two forwards have a proven track record of scoring goals and will be looking to exploit any weaknesses in Inter’s defense.
Overall, these changes show Inzaghi’s determination to secure a positive result against Inter and will undoubtedly add an extra layer of excitement to what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Fans will be eagerly anticipating how these alterations will impact the outcome of the match.

Preview: Lecce vs. Inter Milan – prediction, team news, lineups
Sports Mole previews Sunday’s Serie A clash between Lecce and Inter Milan, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Continuing their quest to retain the Serie A title, Inter Milan will meet lowly Lecce at Stadio Via del Mare on Sunday evening.
While second-placed Inter have scored the most goals in Italy’s top flight this season, their hosts have recorded the fewest, so the Salentini start long-shot outsiders.
Match preview

Closing in on automatic qualification for the last 16, Inter resumed their Champions League campaign on Wednesday, when they saw off struggling Sparta Prague.
The Nerazzurri’s 1-0 win, secured thanks to an early strike from captain Lautaro Martinez, took them onto 16 points from seven games and puts them on track to avoid the playoffs – a home draw against Monaco next week would seal the deal.
This season, Simone Inzaghi‘s side have lost just three of 30 matches across all competitions: twice being beaten by AC Milan either side of their sole European loss to German champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Since letting a two-goal lead slip against their city rivals in the Supercoppa Italiana final, Inter have bounced back by adding seven points to their impressive Serie A total.
Also into the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, the Scudetto holders are unbeaten in 15 league matches, leaving them tucked in behind leaders Napoli with two games in hand.
Last week, Martinez opened the scoring in a 3-1 home win over Empoli, which followed a landmark victory over Venezia: the latter was their sixth consecutive away victory in Serie A without conceding, setting a new club best.
Only Milan – with a run of eight between November 1993 and March 1994 – have ever put a better sequence together, but Inter could match that as the ‘away’ side in next week’s Derby della Madonnina.
First, they must take care of business against Lecce, who they have beaten by scoring at least twice and keeping a clean sheet in all of the clubs’ last four meetings.

Heading into Sunday’s clash, Lecce have won only one of their last eight league matches against Inter at Via del Mare – and none since January 2012.
As is often the case for the southern side, they will again encounter the second-city giants amid a scrap for Serie A survival – this time, they are one of 10 teams inside the bottom half of the table that are still in danger.
After the Giallorossi recently climbed out of the drop zone at Cagliari’s expense, they were leapfrogged by their relegation rivals last weekend, when they led in Sardinia before completely imploding.
Santiago Pierotti gave Lecce the lead just before half time, but they then conceded twice either side of a red card for Ante Rebic, emphatically ending a bright start for new boss Marco Giampaolo.
Since the ex-Milan manager arrived, he has stabilised the Salentini, who have lost just one of their last six home games; however, they remain the league’s lowest scorers with just 15 goals from 21 matches.

Inter are still without influential midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu due to a thigh injury, and veteran centre-back Francesco Acerbi has returned to the treatment room, but Yann Bisseck recently resumed training and may take a place on the bench.
Simone Inzaghi has often rotated his strikers – and could do so again, given upcoming clashes with Monaco and Milan – but Lautaro Martinez is likely to start after rediscovering his old form in front of goal.
‘El Toro’ has scored in his last three appearances and could now find the net in three straight Serie A games for the first time since February 2024 – a month in which he bagged a brace at Via del Mare.
Meanwhile, Marco Giampaolo will welcome back Antonino Gallo from injury this weekend, so highly coveted winger Patrick Dorgu should shift forward to rejoin Lecce’s attacking trident, alongside Nikola Krstovic and Tete Morente.
The latter pair have scored seven of the Salentini’s last eight league goals; this season, they are responsible for some 60% of their club’s Serie A strikes.
In addition to suspended forward Ante Rebic, the hosts are still missing Hamza Rafia, Medon Berisha, Kialonda Gaspar and Lameck Banda through injury.
Lecce possible starting lineup:
Falcone; Guilbert, Baschirotto, Jean, Gallo; Helgason, Coulibaly, Pierret; Dorgu, Krstovic, MorenteInter Milan possible starting lineup:
Sommer; Pavard, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Frattesi, Zielinski, Mkhitaryan, Augusto; Martinez, Thuram
We say: Lecce 0-2 Inter Milan
Simone Inzaghi should reach 200 Serie A wins after 331 games – which would surpass the record currently held by Max Allegri (338) – as Inter are set for a Sunday stroll to victory.
Even if Lecce can initially keep their visitors at arm’s length, they have conceded the most goals after half time this season; meanwhile, Inter rank first for goals scored during the second half.
