‘Abbott Elementary’ Star Lisa Ann Walter Shares What It’s Like Working With Sheryl Lee Ralph
School is now in session, and “Abbott Elementary” star Lisa Ann Walter is our instructor.
While making an appearance on talk show “Sherri,” Walter opened up about her friendship with “Abbott” co-star Sheryl Lee Ralph.
“We trade off who comes in being ‘on it,’” Walter told host Sherri Shepherd. “Very often it’s Sheryl being on one.”
Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Araya Doheny via Getty Images The conversation was sparked by a video Walter shared on Instagram earlier this month, while Los Angeles was battling major fires. In the video, the two shared a moment of levity about how the fierce winds driving the flames had left Ralph’s wig “askew.”
“How Miss Sheryl deals with hurricane force winds at 5 a.m.,” Walter captioned her post. “We are so grateful for all the first responders and so deeply sorry for all the loss our neighbors are going through. We are currently between 3 major fires but are safe for now and doing what we do — make things a bit better with laughter.”
Walter explained to Shepherd that the “Sister Act 2” actor often walks into work with a “monologue or sermon,” adding that Ralph has a strong sense of self and is a “loving” person. Filming the ABC sitcom doesn’t feel like a job, Walter said, but rather something fun the cast enjoys doing.
On Saturday, July 27, the cast of beloved ABC series “Abbott Elementary” participated in a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The panel gave attendees a peek behind the curtain and teased their upcoming season. Stewart Cook via Getty Images The two share a strong bond on set, but Walter revealed that until recently, Ralph had never seen Walter in her comedic element. The “Parent Trap” actor confessed that her standup isn’t necessarily family friendly and said that she was “nervous” to have her co-star see her perform.
“My standup is a little raw,” she confessed. “I wouldn’t necessarily invite a Sheryl Lee Ralph.”
When Ralph got wind that Walter was performing in Philadelphia, she jumped at the chance to support her friend, Walter recounted. Walter worried that Ralph’s appearance would be more like having a “parent” or “judge-y aunt” showing up at your gig, but her comedy set went over very well.
A couple of weeks later, Ralph suggested that she record the performance as a special. Before then, Walter had never recorded her performance, for “whatever reason,” but Ralph doubled down on her original suggestion.
This moment was the spark that led them to create a new production company together, dubbed “Work Wives Productions,” Walter said.
“When you put women together, it’s nothing we can’t do,” Shepherd said.

Lee County Commissioners to discuss removing fluoride from drinking water – WINK News
GET IT ON G E T I T O N
Lee County Commissioners are set to discuss the possibility of removing fluoride from the county’s drinking water. This controversial topic has been hotly debated for years, with some arguing that fluoride is essential for dental health, while others believe it poses health risks and should be eliminated from the water supply. The upcoming meeting will allow residents to voice their opinions on the issue and provide feedback to the commissioners. Those in favor of removing fluoride argue that it is a toxic chemical that can have negative health effects, especially in high concentrations. On the other hand, supporters of fluoridation believe it is a safe and effective way to prevent tooth decay and promote oral health.
The decision to remove fluoride from the water supply is not one to be taken lightly, and the commissioners will need to weigh the potential risks and benefits before making a final decision. Stay tuned for updates on this important discussion.

Sheryl Lee Ralph is sharing why she and her husband, Vincent Hughes, whom she has been married to since 2005, have never lived together.
The “Abbott Elementary” star recently spoke to People about living separately from her husband, who lives on the East Coast as a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania State Senate. Ralph lives thousands of miles away on the West Coast, where her hit comedy is partly filmed.
“I’m very fortunate. The man that I am married to is Senator Vincent Hughes, seventh Senatorial district of Pennsylvania,” she told the publication.
She continued, “You fall in love with somebody and you realize he’s not leaving his career. He’s not leaving Philadelphia. I’m not leaving Hollywood. When you have children, it’s very difficult.”
The 68-year-old actor and Broadway star shares son Etienne Maurice and daughter Ivy-Victoria Maurice with ex-husband Eric Maurice, whom she was married to from 1990 to 2001. Hughes, 68, also has two children, according to Essence.
While speaking to People, Ralph revealed that she and Hughes previously planned a schedule where they saw each other “every two weeks” and that “has continued to work out well” for the couple over the years.
“When I go to see him, I love to see him. When it’s time to leave, ‘Bye-bye. See you soon.’ I’m telling you, life is good,” she shared.
Ralph went on to explain the benefit of having two homes. She added, “He has his own life. I have my own life. He has his own real career, I have my own real career. He has his light to stand in, I have my light to stand in. He is not looking at me thinking about status or this or that. He’s doing his thing. I get to do my thing.”
Even though the two don’t live together, they still make sure to communicate and tackle any problems that arise.
“I’ve evolved into (saying), ‘Let’s talk about it.’ If you sit in problems, you get anxious, depressed, and all the juiciness in life starts to dry up,” she said. “I can’t have that, because all of that will mess with my good looks!”
The pair will celebrate their 20-year wedding anniversary in July, People reported.
Ralph previously addressed her relationship with Hughes last month while attending the Out100 event. There, she spoke to a People reporter on the red carpet who asked if Ralph’s marriage was “technically a long-distance” relationship.
“Oh, listen. My husband and I are technically very married,” she replied. “We will be celebrating 20 years next year.”
She said fans who are curious about how the couple makes it work can look at another famous pair: Dolly Parton and her husband Carl Thomas Dean, whom she has been married to since 1966.
“And people always say, ‘Well, how does that work? How does that work?’” Ralph recalled. “I say, ‘Dolly Parton knows how it works.’ She’s been married for 50 years. You have never seen her husband one time. You know why? Because they plan on staying married.”
Ralph said she and her husband intend to stay together, too. “Our business is in the bedroom. Thank you!” she concluded.

Sheryl Lee Ralph, the talented actress and singer known for her roles in Broadway’s Dreamgirls and hit TV series like Moesha and Ray Donovan, recently opened up about her unique marital arrangement with her husband, Senator Vincent Hughes. In a candid interview with Essence magazine, Ralph revealed that she and Hughes have never lived together in their nearly 20-year marriage. Despite being deeply committed to each other, the couple has chosen to maintain separate households for the sake of their individual careers and personal well-being.
Ralph explained that their decision was born out of a desire to prioritize their own happiness and fulfillment, rather than conforming to societal expectations of what a traditional marriage should look like. She emphasized the importance of maintaining independence and autonomy within a relationship, and how living apart has allowed her and Hughes to thrive both personally and professionally.
While their unconventional living arrangement may raise eyebrows for some, Ralph and Hughes have found a formula that works for them and have built a strong and enduring partnership based on mutual respect, trust, and love.
In a world where marriage is often equated with cohabitation, Sheryl Lee Ralph’s story serves as a powerful reminder that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to love and relationships. Ultimately, what matters most is finding a dynamic that brings happiness and fulfillment to both partners, regardless of societal norms or expectations.

#Lee #Zeldin #Sworn #17th #EPA #AdministratorWhat did Georgia’s General Beauregard Lee predict?
Did you know Punxsutawney Phil isn’t the only weather-predicting groundhog? In Georgia, General Beauregard Lee has made his call: Six more weeks of winter is on the way.
Georgia’s weather-predicting groundhog issued a proclamation Sunday morning, declaring he has seen his shadow and predicting a long winter.
General Beauregard Lee may make the official weather prediction in Georgia, but he isn’t the only groundhog known for his forecast on Groundhog Day, celebrated every Feb. 2. There’s also Buckeye Chuck in Ohio and Staten Island Chuck in New York. And there’s no forgetting Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania.
Here’s what to know about General Beauregard Lee’s Groundhog Day forecast and how to watch.
Did Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow? What to know about the groundhog’s prediction
When will General Beauregard Lee make his 2025 prediction?
General Beauregard Lee made his prediction at 7:30 a.m. EST on Sunday, Feb. 2.
How to listen and watch to General Beauregard Lee’s 2025 Groundhog Day forecast
Dauset Trails Nature Center will livestream General Beauregard Lee’s forecast on its Facebook Page.
Who is General Beauregard Lee?
General Beauregard “Beau” Lee has been predicting Georgia’s winter weather since 1991. Before him there was General Robert E. Lee, a groundhog named for the Confederate general who began making predictions in 1981.
General Beauregard Lee resides at the Dauset Trails Nature Center in Jackson, Georgia. Previously, he lived at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Gwinnett, County, Georgia until it closed in 2017.
What did General Beauregard Lee predict in 2024?
Last year, General Beauregard Lee predicted an early spring for the fifth year in a row. He last predicted a long winter in 2019.
Why do we celebrate Groundhog Day?
Groundhog Day is celebrated every Feb. 2, the same day as Candlemas, in which some of the holiday’s traditions originate.
A Christian festival, Candlemas, also known as the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ, is celebrated each Feb. 2, 40 days after Christmas. For centuries, Europeans developed different customs associated with the festival, which is the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, according to St. Blase Catholic Church. One of these customs was tied to the weather: the weather on Candlemas would determine the outcome of the remainder of winter. And throughout much of Europe, this custom was associated with animals like bears, badgers and hedgehogs that were beginning to wake from winter hibernation.
When German immigrants arrived to America, they found the groundhog in Pennsylvania, which reminded them of the hedgehog in their home country, according to St. Blase Catholic Church. And thus, this is how the groundhog was given such an important responsibility each year.

“What did Georgia’s General Beauregard Lee predict?”Every February 2nd, all eyes turn to Georgia’s very own weather-predicting groundhog, General Beauregard Lee. Just like Punxsutawney Phil, General Lee emerges from his burrow to forecast the weather for the upcoming weeks.
This year, General Lee did not see his shadow, which traditionally indicates an early spring. According to folklore, if the groundhog does not see its shadow, it means that winter will soon come to an end.
While not everyone may believe in the accuracy of groundhog predictions, it’s always fun to see what General Beauregard Lee has to say about the weather. So, whether you’re a believer or a skeptic, let’s all hope that General Lee’s forecast for an early spring comes true!

Georgia Groundhog Day General Beauregard Lee prediction live stream
According to NOAA, Georgia’s own groundhog is much more accurate than the famed Punxsutawney Phil.
JACKSON, Georgia — Georgia’s own — some might say more accurate — meteorological groundhog has made his call for Groundhog Day, and it may not quite be what everyone was hoping.
It’s six more weeks of winter, according to General Beauregard Lee (“Beau” for short).
According to NOAA tracking, Beau is actually much more accurate than his famed northern counterpart Punxsutawney Phil. Beau’s accuracy sits at 80%.
On Sunday morning, Beau emerged at the Dauset Trails Nature Center in Jackson and saw his shadow, foretelling six more weeks of winter. Last year, Beau declared an early spring.
“Don’t kill the messenger!” Beau’s handlers joked Sunday.
The folks at Dauset Trails read a proclamation from Beau that said in part:
“I love pool parties and swimming and getting a tan, but I also love ice fishing, hot chocolate and making a snowman. We’ve had snow from here to the beach, it’s been an interesting winter for this Georgia peach… I know you’re ready for warmth and cheer, but you’ve got to hang on just a little longer my dear. I’m not joking, or kidding, or making a bluff — six more weeks of the wintry stuff. This prediction I make with my little paw — six more weeks of winter, for my shadow I saw.”
This now is where we caution that meteorologists are always more accurate than groundhogs. Groundhog Day should be used for entertainment purposes only.
More about General Beauregard Lee
General Beauregard Lee lived at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Gwinnett County for more than 25 years until the ranch suddenly shut down in 2017.
Dauset Trails Director, Ike English told 11Alive sister station WMAZ back in 2020 that Waffle House hash browns and Indian Springs water is what has kept the south’s “Doctor of Southern Groundology” predicting the weather for 39 years.
Beau used to live in Gwinnett County at the Yellow River Game Ranch, where he stayed more than 25 years before that ranch suddenly shut down in 2017.
His name is drawn from Confederate history — in reference to Generals P.G.T. Beauregard and Robert E. Lee.

Georgia Groundhog Day 2025: What time will General Beauregard Lee make his prediction?
JACKSON, Ga. – Will we have an early spring or is January’s cold weather going to come back with a vengeance? General Beauregard “Beau” Lee, Georgia’s famous groundhog, will make his prediction on Sunday.
For decades, Beau has been making his annual weather prediction in Georgia, and he’s set to celebrate his special day once again in 2025.

Who is General Beauregard Lee?
The backstory:
Beau is no ordinary groundhog — he’s the South’s official weather prognosticator, continuing a tradition that started in 1981. Named after two Confederate generals, Robert E. Lee and P.G.T. Beauregard, Beau took over from his ancestor in 1991 and now lives in style at Dauset Trails in his custom antebellum mansion, Weathering Heights.
Beau’s previous home at Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary in Gwinnett County closed in 2017, but he’s been thriving in his new digs ever since.
What time will General Beauregard Lee make his prediction?
What we know:
This year’s ceremony will take place at Beau’s mansion at the Dauset Trails Nature Center in Jackson, Georgia.
Gates open at 6 a.m. Beau will make his prediction at sunrise with the ceremony starting at 7:30 a.m.
Visitors will be able to grab food, drinks, and special souvenir shirts honoring the furry, four-legged weather predictor.
How to watch Georgia’s Groundhog Day celebration
You can watch the big reveal on the FOX LOCAL App or live on the FOX 5 Atlanta YouTube or Facebook pages.
Groundhog Day history
Big picture view:
Groundhog Day traces its roots to ancient Celtic traditions, where Imbolc marked the midway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Early Christians celebrated Candlemas around the same time, and German immigrants brought the custom of weather-forecasting animals to America, swapping European hedgehogs and badgers for the native groundhog.
Pennsylvania’s Punxsutawney Phil has been at it since 1887, but Georgia’s Beau gives him a run for his money — especially in the accuracy department.
Which groundhog is more accurate?
By the numbers:
According to a 2022 study by FiveThirtyEight.com, Beau boasts a 63% accuracy rate for predictions from 2012 to 2021, outshining Phil’s 45.5%. The Dauset Trails Nature Center claims Beau’s accuracy is even higher, somewhere in the 90% range.
Last year, both Phil and Beau predicted an early spring.
