Jaguars’ Legend Tony Boselli Weighs In On Process to Land Liam Coen
When then-Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen dropped out of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach search to take an extension to remain in Tampa Bay, there was one word to describe the reaction from those outside of the building: panic.
It was well-known throughout the process that Coen was one of the leaders for the Jaguars’ job. After Ben Johnson opted to take the Bears job, Coen became the clear favorite. So when it appeared he would be turning down the job, there was a general sense of dispair.
Coen of course reversed course and went on to be hired as the eighth head coach in franchise history. A week into the job, he is hard at work putting together his first coaching staff.
And while the whirlwind 48 hours proved to be dramatic in terms of how it played out in the media, one key member of the franchise weighed in on what the situation was actually like behind the scenes.
“I don’t think there was nervousness or like, sometimes what is viewed from the outside is chaos, and what’s going on isn’t always what’s happening behind the scenes,” Jaguars Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Boselli said at a fan event at EverBank Stadium.
Boselli is set to take a front office role with the team and was reportedly very involved in the search for a new head coach, especially as the team advanced past the first stage of interviews. And to Boselli, this situation was far from the chaotic one that many perceived it as.
“And I think the one thing I saw and experienced, and I’ve seen it throughout my time since Shad has been the owner. Sometimes very close, sometimes from a distance. He does a great job of really managing the situation,” Boselli said.
“There’s a reason he’s been as successful as he has in life. He was very clear, very concise of how we were going to do this and what the plan to move forward was. And I really enjoyed the opportunity, the fact that he trusted me enough to be a part of that process. But I think sometimes the perception from the outside doesn’t always line up with what is actually happening within.”

Jaguars’ Legend Tony Boselli Weighs In On Process to Land Liam CoenFormer Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle and current Hall of Fame finalist Tony Boselli recently shared his thoughts on the team’s process to potentially land Liam Coen as their new offensive coordinator.
Boselli, who is known for his football knowledge and expertise, believes that Coen would be a great fit for the Jaguars due to his innovative offensive schemes and ability to develop young quarterbacks. Coen, who is currently the offensive coordinator at the University of Kentucky, has garnered attention for his success in revitalizing the Wildcats’ offense.
Boselli emphasized the importance of finding the right coach to lead the Jaguars’ offense and help quarterback Trevor Lawrence reach his full potential. He believes that Coen’s experience and track record make him a strong candidate for the position.
As the Jaguars continue their search for a new offensive coordinator, Boselli’s insights and endorsement of Coen could play a significant role in the team’s decision-making process. Stay tuned for updates on the Jaguars’ coaching staff and potential hiring of Liam Coen.

#Jaguars #Legend #Tony #Boselli #Weighs #Process #Land #Liam #CoenNFL News: Josh Grizzard Reportedly Promoted to Bucs OC After Liam Coen’s Jaguars Exit | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors
Perry Knotts/Getty Images
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly found their new offensive coordinator after Liam Coen left to become the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Friday that Tampa Bay promoted pass-game coordinator Josh Grizzard to the role. Garafolo noted Tampa Bay “keeps continuity and hands the play-calling reins over to a coach who is highly regarded in the building” with this move.
Coen’s departure was certainly a roller-coaster ride for the franchise.
As Nick Shook of NFL.com detailed, Coen was initially a candidate for the Jaguars but pulled out of consideration and appeared to be heading back to Tampa Bay with a pay raise. However, he went back to visit with Jacksonville after it fired general manager Trent Baalke.
The Buccaneers attempted to get a hold of him when he was visiting the Jaguars, and Coen eventually reached out to head coach Todd Bowles.
Still, the result was Coen moving to the AFC South and leaving the Bucs with a sudden OC opening.
That vacancy is no more following the promotion of Grizzard.
The 2024 campaign was his first season as Tampa Bay’s pass-game coordinator after he spent seven years on the staff with the Miami Dolphins. He was a quality control coach and a wide receivers coach at different times during his tenure with Miami.
Grizzard found success in his first year with the Buccaneers, as quarterback Baker Mayfield set career highs in completion percentage (71.4), passing yards (4,500) and passing touchdowns (41) while leading the team to an NFC South crown.
It was the fourth straight division championship for Tampa Bay and second straight with Mayfield under center.
There is something to be said about maintaining some continuity in the system with a quarterback who is playing the best football of his career, and that is exactly what the Buccaneers did with this move.
In a surprising turn of events, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly promoted Josh Grizzard to the position of offensive coordinator following Liam Coen’s departure to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Grizzard, who previously served as the team’s quarterbacks coach, has been with the Buccaneers for several years and is known for his innovative offensive schemes. This move comes after Coen accepted the head coaching position with the Jaguars, leaving a void in the Buccaneers’ coaching staff. Grizzard has been praised for his work with star quarterback Tom Brady and is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the team’s offense.
Fans are eager to see how Grizzard’s promotion will impact the Buccaneers’ performance on the field, especially as they look to defend their Super Bowl title. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

For the third time in as many years, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were forced to search for a new offensive coordinator. This time, however, they are reportedly promoting from within.
The Buccaneers are promoting former pass-game coordinator Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator, according to NFL Media. Grizzard replaces Liam Coen, who accepted the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching job last week. The 34-year-old Grizzard just wrapped up his first season with the Buccaneers, and is reportedly highly regarded in the building.

Grizzard graduated from Yale in 2012, and began his coaching career in New Haven as a student assistant. He then joined the Duke Blue Devils as a grad assistant, and after four seasons, landed with the Miami Dolphins as an offensive quality control coach. Grizzard also coached the wide receivers down in Miami before being hired away by Tampa Bay.
The 10-7 Buccaneers won the NFC South in 2024 for a fourth consecutive season. The offense ranked No. 3 in total yards (399.5 yards per game), and No. 4 in points per game (29.5), while quarterback Baker Mayfield became just the third quarterback to ever throw for 4,500 yards and 40 touchdowns while completing 70% of his passes. He put up career-high numbers across the board with 4,500 passing yards and 41 touchdowns, but did tie the league high with 16 interceptions.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly promoted Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator following the departure of Liam Coen to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Grizzard, who previously served as the team’s quarterbacks coach, is set to take on a larger role in guiding the Buccaneers’ high-powered offense. With quarterback Tom Brady at the helm and a host of talented playmakers at his disposal, Grizzard will have plenty to work with as he steps into his new role. The Buccaneers are coming off a Super Bowl victory and will look to maintain their offensive prowess under Grizzard’s leadership.
While losing Coen to the Jaguars is certainly a blow, the Buccaneers are confident that Grizzard is more than capable of stepping up and continuing to push their offense to new heights. Fans will surely be eager to see how Grizzard puts his stamp on the team’s offense in the upcoming season.

New Jaguars head coach Liam Coen will continue to call plays, mold offense around QB Trevor Lawrence
Getty Images
The Jacksonville Jaguars welcomed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen as their new head coach on Monday, and he confirmed he will maintain a key component of why he was hired as their head coach.
“Yes, we’ll absolutely be calling football plays,” Coen said when asked if he would be the team’s offensive play-caller.
Tampa Bay’s 2024 offense thrived under Coen: the Buccaneers had the league’s No. 4 scoring offense (29.5 points per game) and No. 3 total offense (399.6 yards per game). Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, the 2018 NFL Draft’s top overall pick by the Cleveland Browns, produced career highs in completion percentage (71.4%), passing yards (4,500), passing yards per attempt (7.9), passing touchdowns (41) and passer rating (106.8) — all while bringing Coen’s playbook to life in 2024.
Now, Coen’s task is to maximize the potential of another first overall pick in the Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence, who went No. 1 in the 2021 NFL Draft.
“How do we make Trevor Lawrence and this offense as dynamic and explosive as we can be? We’ve got to build it around him as well. We’ve got to make every part of this about improvement, and he will be a part of that process,” Coen said Monday. “He’s earned that right. I cannot respect his toughness and mentality and work ethic more than I do already from afar. This will all be about Trevor right now.”
Lawrence entered the NFL as one of the most heralded quarterback prospects in recent memory after leading the Clemson Tigers to consecutive national championship games in 2018 and 2019, including winning it all in 2018. The first task for Coen and whoever the Jaguars new general manger will be has to be simply keeping Lawrence upright by reinforcing his offensive line.
The 25-year-old Lawrence played a career-low 10 games in 2024 after suffering an AC joint sprain (shoulder) and a concussion. That was following a 2023 campaign in which he also battled both of those injuries as well as a high ankle sprain and a knee sprain.
The Jacksonville Jaguars made headlines this offseason with the hiring of new head coach Liam Coen, who will also be taking on the role of offensive play-caller for the team. Coen, who most recently served as the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, is known for his innovative and aggressive play-calling style. One of Coen’s main priorities will be to mold the offense around second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who showed flashes of brilliance in his rookie season. Coen has already expressed his confidence in Lawrence’s abilities and has spoken about his excitement to work with the young quarterback.
Under Coen’s guidance, the Jaguars offense is expected to be dynamic and explosive, with an emphasis on spreading the ball around and keeping defenses off balance. Coen’s experience working with quarterbacks like Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles bodes well for Lawrence’s development and growth as a player.
Fans can expect to see a fast-paced and high-scoring offense under Coen’s leadership, as he looks to bring a new level of excitement and success to Jacksonville. With Lawrence at the helm and Coen calling the shots, the Jaguars offense is primed for a bright future.

Liam Coen Made Right Decision Taking Jaguars’ Head Coach Job
With no NFL games this weekend—the Pro Bowl games don’t count—now is a good time to review the recent coaching hires of a few teams.
There was a weird triangle of drama between Liam Coen, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Regrettable decisions were made, but Coen likely has no regrets about taking the Jaguars’ head coaching job.
The New York Jets have plenty of reasons to be confident about the hiring of Aaron Glenn, the former Lions defensive coordinator with an impressive résumé as a coach and player.
Let’s get to this week’s fact or fiction.
Liam Coen made the right decision taking Jaguars’ HC job
Manzano’s view: Fact
Let’s be clear: Coen handled his exit from the Buccaneers poorly, and the Jaguars embarrassed themselves by doing whatever it took to hire Coen, making a mockery of the Rooney Rule.
It was messier than a reality TV dating show, but in the end, Coen made the right decision taking the Jaguars’ head coaching job. He couldn’t pass on an opportunity that rarely comes around again for a candidate who has never been an NFL head coach.
Ben Johnson took risks by passing on head coaching opportunities in multiple hiring cycles. It worked out for him after becoming the Chicago Bears’ head coach this month. But most coaches aren’t as fortunate and many are quickly forgotten, especially if their respective team endures a losing season.
Bobby Slowik was recently fired as the Houston Texans’ offensive coordinator, a year after being the hotshot coordinator with plenty of head coaching interviews lined up for helping C.J. Stroud produce a sensational rookie year.
Todd Monken can’t even get a serious look from teams and he has operated one of the best offenses in the league the past two seasons as Lamar Jackson’s offensive play-caller. Joe Brady is still waiting after many assumed he would get a head coaching position a year or two after helping Joe Burrow win the Heisman Trophy at LSU in 2019.
Coen took his golden opportunity—one that came with a promising quarterback in Trevor Lawrence. It’s tough to fault him for that, but again, he could have handled it better. Coen should have kept reminding himself not to pass on his opportunity before telling the Jaguars that he was pulling his name from consideration. Maybe it was a leverage play to get more, which happens all the time when it comes to job openings.
But there are various sides to this messy story, and judging from reports, the Buccaneers aren’t happy with how this played out. Coen put himself and his family first after doing everything he could to help Tampa Bay win games in 2024. All sides will be fine with time.
Jets got it right with the hire of Aaron Glenn
Manzano’s view: Fact
It’s always hard to predict how a new coach will fare with a new team. And it’s rarely a good idea to judge a coach based on an introductory news conference. Dan Campbell was quickly ruled a meathead for saying his players will bite off knee camps in his introductory press conference. Nick Sirianni was labeled inept for being nervous at his first presser.
Now there are hundreds of “0–17” comments under social media videos of Coen because he had an awkward “Duuuval” shout when he met the Jacksonville media for the first time.
But I’ll break the No. 1 rule for how not to assess a new head coach. It was wise of Glenn to share his old stories from his Jets playing days. Talking about the 1998 AFC championship game was a nice touch to remind Jets fans how far he took them when he was a feisty defensive back for Bill Parcells.
The Jets have gotten it so wrong since those Parcells days. Maybe it’s not such a bad idea to bring back someone who knows how to win while sporting the team’s logo and colors. Glenn will likely hold his players, coaches and even team owner Woody Johnson accountable.
He won’t back down from what he believes in and seems to know what’s best for others judging from his successful stint with the Lions. It was impressive how he kept his unit battling this past season amid a wave of injuries to key players. He also had a hard path building the Lions’ defense into a stout unit.
Who knows how Glenn will do, but the Jets had the right idea to bring him back.
Glenn served as Detroit’s defensive coordinator for four years beginning in 2021. / John Jones-Imagn Images Titans should prioritize keeping the No. 1 pick
Manzano’s view: Fiction
It was smart of Tennessee Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker to let reporters know his team won’t pass on generational talent.
For starters, it lets other teams know they’re not just aiming to draft a quarterback with the No. 1 pick. Secondly, it lets others know that it’s going to take a serious offer to trade down from the No. 1 pick.
Initially, it seemed the 2025 draft wasn’t going to have generational talent because the quarterback prospects aren’t viewed as highly as last year’s group and it’s tough to gauge which position Travis Hunter is better suited for in the NFL. But now, there’s plenty of hype for Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter.
Carter lining up on a defensive front with Jeffery Simmons, Harold Landry III and T’Vondre Sweat would certainly give Tennessee’s rebuild a major boost. But this team desperately needs a quarterback and has holes at various positions and the defensive front might be their only strength.
Perhaps there’s a team inside the top 10 that wants to take Carter or Hunter with the top pick in April’s draft. The New England Patriots and Jaguars are set at quarterback and both have top-five picks. The Titans need to keep all their options open.
Bills, Ravens won’t win a Super Bowl in next four years
Manzano’s view: Fiction
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has reached a level of greatness that only Michael Jordan and a few other all-time greats are familiar with when it comes to preventing their top competitors from winning championships.
It’s fair to wonder whether Josh Allen or Jackson will ever win a Super Bowl because Mahomes and the Chiefs continue to get in their way. I won’t group Burrow in with them because he’s already beaten the Chiefs in the playoffs and has played in a Super Bowl.
But I’ll say Allen or Jackson will break through in the next four years, even though I didn’t have the Buffalo Bills or Baltimore Ravens for this MMQB exercise from last year. I’m not sure if both Jackson and Allen will eventually win it all because the Chiefs aren’t going away any time soon and there are always a few surprise teams ready to ascend.
Liam Coen Made Right Decision Taking Jaguars’ Head Coach JobAfter spending three successful seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, Liam Coen has decided to take on the challenge of becoming the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. While some may question his decision to leave a Super Bowl contender for a team that has struggled in recent years, there are several reasons why Coen made the right choice.
First and foremost, Coen will have the opportunity to put his stamp on a team that is in need of a fresh start. The Jaguars have a young and talented roster, led by quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and Coen’s innovative offensive mind could be just what the team needs to turn things around.
Additionally, the Jaguars have a passionate fan base that is hungry for success. Coen will have the opportunity to bring excitement and energy back to Jacksonville, and his track record of success with the Rams suggests that he is more than capable of doing so.
Furthermore, Coen will have the chance to work with a front office that is committed to building a winning team. The Jaguars have made significant investments in their roster in recent years, and Coen will have the support and resources necessary to succeed.
In the end, while leaving a successful team like the Rams may have been a tough decision for Coen, taking on the challenge of leading the Jaguars is the right move for his career. With the opportunity to build a winning culture in Jacksonville, Coen has the chance to make a lasting impact on the franchise and establish himself as one of the top head coaches in the NFL.

New Jaguars coach Liam Coen wants ‘physical mindset’ from players
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — New Jacksonville Jaguars coach Liam Coen knows exactly what he wants out of his team: Play fast, be fundamentally sound, have an attack mentality, be good at situational football and be mentally and physically tough.
Coen then elaborated on that last category, which he intimated might be the most important of all when it comes to culture and identity, two things that were notably missing in 2024: “I want savages.”
That certainly wasn’t the way you’d describe the 2024 Jaguars, a team that went 3-10 in one-score games (the most such losses in a single season in the Super Bowl era), finished 31st in total defense, forced the fewest turnovers in the league and finished 25th in the NFL in point differential.
One of Coen’s top priorities is getting that flipped.
“Just that physical mindset. When our opponents turn on the tape, what are they looking at? Are they seeing guys playing through the echo of the whistle?” Coen told reporters Monday afternoon following his introductory news conference. “You might get a flag or two early on. Man, hey, let’s pull back a little. OK, here we go. But I want them playing on the edge. It’s a violent game. They have to be that way. I want them to play that way. So that’s where it starts. If we can get that out of these guys, I think we’ll be moving in the right direction.”
Among the Jaguars’ issues that resulted in a 4-13 record and owner Shad Khan’s decision to fire coach Doug Pederson: lacking a strong identity, strong vocal leadership in the locker room and on-field discipline. In the limited conversations he has had with several Jaguars players — notably quarterback Trevor Lawrence and defensive end Josh Hines-Allen — Coen said improving on those elements was a priority for them in 2025, too.
“I heard guys that are yearning for more,” Coen said. “Just more culture, more unity, more communication, just everybody being on the same page, a true aligned vision, and for everybody to be able to tell each other some hard truths in ways and see each other’s blind spots and communicate those. That’s where the growth occurs, and that’s what it sounded like they’re yearning for.
“They want more responsibility on both sides of the balls, but with a clear vision. They want to be able to be coached hard but understand that it’s coming from the right place and there’s a trust and an honesty there.”
Coen, 39, also talked about his flip-flop from remaining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ offensive coordinator with a significant raise that would have made him one of the highest-paid coordinators, to taking an interview with Khan the following day, saying he felt like the opportunity in Jacksonville was one he couldn’t pass up.
Khan said he felt the same way about Coen during the interview process. After spending several hours with Coen, Khan said he knew Coen was the right hire to not only change the culture in Jacksonville, but to help Lawrence play more consistently high-level football.
“Our commitment to Trevor, I think it’s well known that we believe in him. So, it started with that,” Khan said. “That was the fundamental question, really, to all the candidates. How would they do it? After we got done with that, it was very evident to me that Liam was the guy. I had never met Liam until the process started, but I had heard about him quite a bit over the last year.
“… As we went through the process it was absolutely compelling, he’s the right guy for us.”
Coen, who confirmed he will be calling plays, has already started compiling his staff, signing special teams coordinator Heath Farwell to a three-year contract extension. Farwell spent the past three seasons with the Jaguars and has produced a Pro Bowler in all three seasons (returner Jamal Agnew, punter Logan Cooke and long-snapper Ross Matiscik).
Coen, who will be interviewing defensive coordinator candidates over the next several days, also said the same thing that Pederson said the week before he was fired: The Jaguars aren’t far away from competing for the playoffs the way they did in 2022 and 2023 before the disappointing 2024 season.
“I mentioned this to the guys, this isn’t a four-win team,” Coen said. “Yes, that is the record, but this is not a four-win team. How do we go from winning games to not losing them? I think that’s something we’ve got to address. That has got to be in our veins, in our DNA: the culture of winning.
“I’ve learned it from the Los Angeles Rams and from a ton of other great organizations on how to go win football games. I think that’s something that we have to start as a team, as a group, and show how we’re going to go do it.”
The Jacksonville Jaguars have a new head coach in Liam Coen, and he is bringing a new philosophy to the team. Coen, who was previously the offensive coordinator at the University of Kentucky, wants his players to have a “physical mindset” on the field. In an interview with reporters, Coen emphasized the importance of playing with aggression and physicality. He wants his players to be tough and relentless in their approach to the game.
Coen’s coaching style is a departure from the more finesse-oriented offenses that have been prevalent in the NFL in recent years. He wants his team to be known for their physicality and toughness, and he believes that this mindset will help the Jaguars compete at a higher level.
It remains to be seen how Coen’s philosophy will translate to success on the field, but one thing is clear: the Jaguars will be a tougher team under his leadership. Fans can expect to see a more physical brand of football from Jacksonville in the coming seasons.

Liam Coen on leaving Bucs for Jags: “It came down to business”
As the late, great Michael Corleone once said, “It’s not personal. It’s strictly business.” While some with the Bucs might have taken last week’s ghosting from Liam Coen personally, Coen views it differently.
“At the end of the day, it came down to business,” Coen told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times regarding Coen’s clandestine exit. “It did. It came down to family and business and a dream that was right in front of you. Not maybe down the road. How do you say no to that? . . .
“It started to become more clear with every hour that this was an opportunity that you just can’t pass up, for so many different reasons. And you ultimately wanna do truly what’s best for you and your family. And that’s what this came down to.”
Coen claimed to feel no extra pressure to stay put from the unenforceable side deal that he wouldn’t interview for the job in Jacksonville after getting a contract that would have made him the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL.
“No, not really,” he said. “None at all.”
Still, he secretly left Tampa for Jacksonville last week, after verbally agreeing to the contract to stay with the Buccaneers. If his secret exit wasn’t prompted by concerns that the Bucs wouldn’t react well to a perceived reneging on the handshake understanding, then maybe it traces to the Jaguars’ effort to satisfy the Rooney Rule by interviewing Patrick Graham in person before it became publicly known that Coen was the guy.
Previously, Coen withdrew his name from consideration from the supposed dream come true in Duval. After the Jaguars parted ways with G.M. Trent Baalke, everything changes. During Coen’s introductory press conference, he was asked whether the departure of Baalke changed Coen’s mind.
“This was completely about an opportunity to work for an owner and a group of people with a group of players that needed some help,” Coen said. “And that’s what coaching is, right? That’s what coaching is all about is trying to go help people and be around people. So no that was not — that was not the factor.”
It might not have been “the” factor. Not when he’s making (we’ve heard) $12 million a year to become a first-time NFL head coach. But the basic timeline suggests that it was “a” factor.
Regardless, what’s done is done. And not much was said yesterday about the specifics. As owner Shad Khan said during the press conference, “He’s our guy and we got him. Simple as that.”
It hardly seemed simple as it was happening. The simple fact is that, with the Jaguars intent on moving forward, the complications no longer matter.
After a successful stint as the quarterbacks coach for the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Liam Coen has made the decision to leave the team and join the Jacksonville Jaguars as their new offensive coordinator. In a recent interview, Coen revealed that his decision ultimately “came down to business.”Coen explained that while he had a great experience with the Bucs and will always be grateful for the opportunity to work with such a talented team, the Jaguars presented him with a unique opportunity to take on a bigger role and further his career in a new direction.
“I had a fantastic time in Tampa Bay and learned so much from working with some of the best in the business,” Coen said. “But when the opportunity arose to join the Jaguars and take on a more prominent role as their offensive coordinator, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. Ultimately, it came down to business and what was best for my career moving forward.”
Despite the bittersweet decision to leave the Bucs, Coen is excited about the new challenge that awaits him in Jacksonville. He expressed confidence in his ability to help lead the Jaguars to success and is looking forward to working with their talented roster of players.
As Coen embarks on this new chapter in his coaching career, fans will undoubtedly be eager to see how his offensive expertise will impact the Jaguars’ performance on the field. Only time will tell if Coen’s decision to leave the Bucs for the Jaguars was the right move, but one thing is for certain – he is ready to take on the challenge and make the most of this new opportunity.

#Liam #Coen #leaving #Bucs #Jags #businessFans spot heartbreaking detail in old Liam Neeson interview about ‘beloved wife’ Natasha Richardson
Liam Neeson’s nostalgic confession in an interview with Conan O’Brien has caught the attention of his admirers, especially when he discusses his dearly-departed spouse. It was twelve years ago that Neeson appeared on O’Brien’s show where he recounted the quirky tale of signing fellow actor Ralph Fiennes’ name.
The conversation took a somber turn as it moved toward memories of Natasha Richardson, Neeson’s late wife who tragically passed away from head trauma after 15 blissful years of marriage in 2009. In the YouTube video, the actor recalls how often he got mistaken for Ralph Fiennes, reflecting on their similar facial features – their noses and foreheads.
“He won a Tony award for playing hamlet about 14 years ago, I have been complimented on my Hamlet quite a few times,” Neeson quipped to O’Brien.

Subsequently, wrapping a touching anecdote within his humor, Neeson changed to a more solemn tone, saying “forgive me for sharing it with you” before delving into the touching personal story, reports the Irish Star .
“I was with my beloved wife, we were in Paris staying at this…beautiful hotel. I was publicizing some movie, I can’t remember, but we’re walking through the corridor, and there were two elderly ladies and their husbands, they stood up as we passed and this lady came to us “excuse me, can I interrupt you for a second?
“I said ‘of course’ she says “well our husbands are about to go to the Normandy Beaches, 50th anniversary, they haven’t been there since the battle” and I was like I’m already coming out in goosebumps, and she says ‘we’ve admired your work so much’… so she’s talking away and these gentleman, they’re still standing out of respect,” Neeson explained. He continued on to say that the elderly woman asked him to sign something for them, and before Neeson was about to sign his signature, the woman said “we loved you in The English Patient.”
“So I singed it to Mildred and John, lots of love, Ralph Fiennes,” he explained as the crowd started to roar with laughter.
“There’s no way I could burst their bubble,” he added. YouTube users took to the comments of the post to point out that as soon as Neeson mentioned his former wife, his tone switched gears, as his voice went soft.
“I love how he pauses, “my beloved wife…” Gosh he loved her,” said one user. “That moment he takes takes before saying “beloved wife” just breaks my heart,” a person added.
“I love how he talks about his late wife…You can feel the love and respect he has for her,” another wrote.
Fans of Liam Neeson were left heartbroken after spotting a detail in an old interview where he spoke about his ‘beloved wife’ Natasha Richardson. The couple had been married for 15 years before Richardson tragically passed away in a skiing accident in 2009.In the interview, Neeson spoke fondly of his wife, calling her his “beloved” and sharing how much he admired and respected her. When the NFL regular season comes to a close, it sends the head-coaching carousel into high gear. The 2025 cycle is in full swing and began with seven openings across the NFL.
The cycle kicked off with the New England Patriots hiring Mike Vrabel after moving on from Jerod Mayo after one season, and the Bears landing Ben Johnson after getting rid of Matt Eberflus midseason. The Jets also got their guy in Aaron Glenn after moving on from Robert Saleh after Week 5. The Jacksonville Jaguars are hiring Tampa Bay Buccaneers OC Liam Coen to replace the fired Doug Pederson after letting go of general manager Trent Baalke.
Most recently, the Las Vegas Raiders are hiring Pete Carroll, the former Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl champion head coach, after letting go of Antonio Pierce following one full season in charge.
As these teams tap their next leader, let this be your one-stop shop for that madness that is the NFL head-coaching carousel. Below, you can find our tracker of who is out and who is in across all openings.
Here’s a look at which jobs have been filled:
NFL hirings and firings
New England Patriots
Jerod Mayo
Mike Vrabel
Vrabel and the Patriots are quite familiar with one another, with the former linebacker winning three Super Bowls with the franchise. He was looked at as the favorite immediately after the firing of Mayo, so this result isn’t totally surprising. The former NFL Coach of the Year is expected to bring a buttoned-up operation to New England and has been regarded as one of the top in-game managers in the league dating back to his days as head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
Matt Eberflus
The Bears got their quarterback of the future when they selected Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s draft. Now, they have the man to steer the next few years of his career. Johnson made a name for himself by putting his players in position to succeed, and the Bears desperately need for him to do exactly that with Williams, who had an up-and-down rookie year.
Dallas Cowboys Mike McCarthy TBA Analysis to come. Robert Saleh
Aaron Glenn
The Jets are bringing back a former franchise star in Glenn, who has risen up the coaching ranks since his playing days ended. Glenn comes over from the Lions, where he led them from 26th in points per possession to eighth in one season, despite having six defensive starters on injured reserve. Glenn was drafted by the Jets in 1994 and made two of his three Pro Bowls with the team.
Jacksonville Jaguars Doug Pederson Liam Coen The Jaguars did what they needed to do to haul in their top remaining coaching candidate by firing Baalke. Coen coached Baker Mayfield into throwing a career-high 41 touchdown passes, tied for the second-most in the league this season, in his first year working with the journeyman quarterback. Tampa Bay also had a top-five scoring offense (29.5 points per game) in his sole season with the Bucs despite Mike Evans missing three games. Jacksonville hopes to see similar results between Coen and 2021 No. 1 overall draft pick Trevor Lawrence. Las Vegas Raiders Antonio Pierce Pete Carroll Las Vegas flipped from a first-time NFL head coach in Pierce to Carroll, who will be the league’s oldest head coach ever at the age of 74 in 2025. He did arrive in Seattle in 2010 and then guide them to their first Super Bowl title just four seasons later. Carroll’s presence could help stabilize a franchise that has been a volatile organization of late. Raiders minority owner Tom Brady helped hire one of the most known commodities available to kick start his Las Vegas tenure, one in which he’s just as fired up to win as he was in New England. New Orleans Saints Dennis Allen TBA Analysis to come.
As the 2025 NFL season approaches, the coaching carousel is in full swing with teams making big moves to secure their next head coach. In a surprising turn of events, the Las Vegas Raiders have decided to part ways with Antonio Pierce and bring in veteran coach Pete Carroll to lead their team.Carroll, who previously coached the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory, brings a wealth of experience and a winning mentality to the Raiders organization. Known for his defensive prowess and ability to develop young talent, Carroll is expected to bring a new energy to the Raiders and help them compete in the tough AFC West division.
Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars have made a splash by hiring up-and-coming offensive mind Liam Coen as their new head coach. Coen, who most recently served as the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, is known for his innovative play-calling and ability to develop young quarterbacks. With the Jaguars looking to turn around their struggling offense, Coen’s hiring is seen as a step in the right direction for the team.
As the coaching carousel continues to turn, all eyes will be on these two teams as they look to make their mark in the 2025 NFL season. Stay tuned for more updates as more coaching hires are announced.

49ers news: Robert Saleh could return thanks to Trent Baalke & Liam Coen
On Wednesday, a report surfaced saying former New York Jets head coach and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was viewed as the potential favorite to land the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching job. That news led us down the rabbit hole and to another former 49ers defensive coordinator.
On Thursday afternoon, there was a not-so-unexpected twist. After parting ways with general manager Trent Baalke, all of a sudden, candidates were once again interested in the head coaching vacancy for Jacksonville.
Multiple national reporters tweeted that Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who turned down the Jaguars on Wednesday to stay on as offensive coordinator with the Buccaneers, reconsidered his decision once Baalke was let go.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said while Coen and the Bucs agreed to an extension, the contract was never signed. Thus, there was no binding agreement between both parties. Two days later, Coen is in the building and speaking to the Jaguars’ brass about their head coaching job once more and the front-runner for the job.
This is where it turns into a he said, she said, and the information gets sloppy. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini tweeted that multiple text messages and phone calls were made to Coen, and Tampa Bay hasn’t heard a peep from Coen. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that Coen said that he reached out to Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowls to inform him of his interest and will interview with the Jaguars.
We’re watching a reality TV episode in real time. It’s not surprising that the Jaguars were leaning toward an offensive mind. They paid Trevor Lawrence $275 million. You’re unlikely to surround your main investment for your franchise with a defensive head coach.
But, not unlike the 49ers, the Jaguars appeared to be caught by surprise when Coen turned them down. Now, the 49ers could be the beneficiary of Coen putting his foot down by not wanting to work with Baalke.
The 49ers aren’t out of the woods just yet. Saleh interviewed with the Dallas Cowboys last week. According to Clarence Hill, Dallas is set to hire Brian Schottenheimer, and Josina Anderson followed up by saying that other candidates are not expected to have their second interviews.
The Las Vegas Raiders job is still open, and Saleh was interviewed there, too. That would be something if the 49ers defensive coordinator comes down to who the Raiders don’t hire as their head coach.
In a surprising turn of events, former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh could be making a return to the team thanks to the efforts of general manager Trent Baalke and newly hired offensive coordinator Liam Coen.Saleh, who left the 49ers at the end of the 2020 season to become the head coach of the New York Jets, has reportedly expressed interest in rejoining the team where he made a name for himself as one of the top defensive minds in the NFL.
Baalke, who was recently re-hired as the 49ers’ general manager, has been working behind the scenes to facilitate Saleh’s potential return. Additionally, Coen, who was hired as the team’s offensive coordinator after a successful stint at the University of Kentucky, has also been instrumental in convincing Saleh to come back to San Francisco.
If Saleh does indeed return to the 49ers, it would be a major coup for the team as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2020 season. With Saleh’s defensive expertise and the offensive firepower that Coen is expected to bring, the 49ers could once again be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as Saleh’s potential return to the 49ers continues to unfold. #49ers #RobertSaleh #TrentBaalke #LiamCoen
