  • Microsoft Announces Xbox Game Pass January 2025 Wave 2 Lineup

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Game Pass January 2025 Wave 2 lineup of titles.

The announcement on Xbox Wire comes ahead of Microsoft’s Xbox Developer Direct on January 23, where fans will get to see a number of day one Game Pass games, including Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and a mystery fourth reveal.

January 2025 Wave 2 kicks off today, January 21, with Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S), a day one release on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. “Crash over and over until you master the mountain in the snowy follow up to Lonely Mountains: Downhill,” reads the official blurb. “Now supporting up to eight players via cross platform multiplayer – work your way down the slopes as a group sharing a small number of checkpoints, or risk it all in a breakneck race to the base!”

Tomorrow, January 22, sees the addition of Flock (Console) to Game Pass Standard. “Flock is a multiplayer co-op game about the joy of flight and collecting adorable flying creatures with your friends. Soar through beautiful landscapes, seeking out rare and elusive creatures to add to your flock.”

Also on January 22, Gigantic: Rampage Edition (Cloud, Console, and PC) hits Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. “Gigantic: Rampage Edition is a premium and definitive release of the original 5v5 MOBA hero shooter that provides a dynamic and exciting team-based multiplayer experience for fans of both genres. Choose from a diverse roster of unique heroes, each with a set of upgradeable abilities, and team up with four other players to control objectives and take down the opposing team’s mighty Guardian, all while protecting your own.”

January 22 is a busy day for Game Pass, as Capcom’s Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (Console) launches into Game Pass Standard. “A unique Japanese-inspired, single player Kagura action strategy game. It takes place on a mountain covered by defilement. During the day, purify the villages and prepare yourself for sundown. During the night, protect the Maiden against the hordes of the Seethe. Repeat the day and night cycle until you cleanse the mountain of defilement and return peace to the land.”

Sticking with January 22, Magical Delicacy (Console) comes to Game Pass Standard, as does Tchia (Xbox Series X|S), and The Case of the Golden Idol (Console). January 22 is rounded out by Starbound (Cloud and Console), which arrives on Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass Standard having already launched on PC Game Pass.

Eternal Strands (Cloud, Console, and PC) hits Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on January 28 as a day one launch. “Eternal Strands is the debut fantasy title from Yellow Brick Games, a new independent studio founded by industry veterans from franchises including Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Watch Dogs, and Assassin’s Creed. Fight epic, towering creatures while blending magical abilities with an arsenal of powerful weapons to keep the world from crumbling in this third-person, action-adventure game.”

Also on January 28 as a day one launch, Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) hits Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. “Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap is an action-packed, third-person shooter and trap defense game. Evolve as an orc-slaying War Mage through rogue-lite choices and obliterate, eviscerate, and incinerate massive hordes with up to four players.”

Moving on to January 29, Shady Part of Me (Cloud, Console, and PC) releases in Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. “Shady Part of Me sends you on an emotional and dream-like journey, with breathtaking artistic direction and the enthralling voice of Hannah Murray from Game of Thrones and Skins. As a little girl and her shadow, overcome emotional struggles through surreal dreamscapes across a touching narrative filled with twists and surprises. Both must learn, cooperate, and evolve to progress in a poetic journey.

Here’s a big one: Sniper Elite: Resistance (Cloud, Console, and PC) launches into Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as a day one release on January 30. “Offering unparalleled sniping mechanics, stealth and tactical third-person combat, Sniper Elite: Resistance turns the attention of the award-winning series towards a hidden war, far from the front lines, deep within the heart of occupied France. Bring a friend – the full campaign can be experienced in co-op.”

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) is another day one Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass release, this time on January 31. “The highly anticipated sequel to one of 2022’s most acclaimed RPGs, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is a dice-driven RPG in a human and heartfelt sci-fi world. You are an escaped android, with a malfunctioning body, a price on your head and no memory of your past. Get a ship, find a crew, and take on contracts while you navigate across the Starward Belt.”

And finally, creeping into early February, Far Cry New Dawn (Cloud, Console, and PC) hits Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard on February 4. “Dive into a transformed, vibrant, post-apocalyptic Hope County, Montana, 17 years after a global nuclear catastrophe. Lead the fight against the Highwaymen as they seek to take over the last remaining resources.”

Xbox Game Pass January 2025 Wave 2 lineup:

Xbox Game Pass games leaving on January 31, 2025:

As usual, a number of games are set to leave Game Pass as new titles flood the subscription service.

    • Anuchard (Cloud, Console, and PC)
    • Broforce Forever (Cloud, Console, and PC)
    • Darkest Dungeon (Cloud, Console, and PC)
    • Death’s Door (Cloud, Console, and PC)

  • FanDuel Lineup Plays and Strategy for Wednesday, January 22

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

We have a big slate on tap Wednesday night, and although the injury report is relatively light and therefore doesn’t make a big ripple in the player pool, there are some particularly big names whose status will bear monitoring.

    Slate Overview

For the latest spreads and over-unders, visit RotoWire’s NBA Odds page. There, you can also find player props, futures, picks articles and sportsbook bonus codes

Listed spreads/totals are from FanDuel Sportsbook and current as of Wednesday, 1/22 @ 11:30 a.m. ET:

Phoenix Suns (-11.5) at Brooklyn Nets (O/U: 218.0)

Detroit Pistons at Atlanta Hawks (-2.5) (O/U: 234.5)

Minnesota Timberwolves (-3) at Dallas Mavericks (O/U: 216.0)

Cleveland Cavaliers (-3) at Houston Rockets (O/U: 229.5)

Milwaukee Bucks at New Orleans Pelicans — POSTPONED

Charlotte Hornets at Memphis Grizzlies (-12) (O/U: 240.5)

Utah Jazz at Oklahoma City Thunder (-17) (O/U: 227.5)

Golden State Warriors at Sacramento Kings (-7) (O/U: 230.0)

Boston Celtics (-11) at Los Angeles Clippers (O/U: 218.5)

The betting landscape for Wednesday’s slate is a bit of a study in extremes, as there are four double-digit favorites, including the Thunder with a massive 17-point projected advantage over the Jazz. However, that still leaves us with five games that could turn out to be very competitive, with the Pistons-Hawks and Cavaliers-Rockets matchups especially standing out since they also have large projected totals.

On that front, the picture is pretty optimistic, considering five games have totals north of 227 points, and only two of those are attached to games that have expansive spreads.

    Injury Situations to Monitor

For all the latest updates, visit RotoWire’s NBA Injury News page and our comprehensive NBA Injury Report.

    James Harden, LAC (groin): QUESTIONABLE

If Harden can’t play, Norman Powell will be the likeliest biggest beneficiary in terms of increased usage if he can play through his questionable tag, while Kevin Porter is likely to draw a start at point guard.

    Jalen Williams, NOP (hip): QUESTIONABLE

If Williams doesn’t play, Isaiah Joe could remain on the first unit and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will likely benefit the most from a usage standpoint.

    Jalen Johnson, ATL (shoulder): QUESTIONABLE

If Johnson sits out, any of David Roddy, De’Andre Hunter or Vit Krejci could draw the start at power forward.

    Other notable injuries:

    Luka Doncic, DAL (calf): OUT

    Evan Mobley, CLE (calf): OUT

    Kawhi Leonard, LAC (knee): OUT

    Ivica Zubac, LAC (eye): OUT

    Brandon Miller, CHA (wrist): OUT

    Cam Thomas, BKN (hamstring): OUT

    Isaiah Hartenstein, OKC (calf): OUT

    Draymond Green, GSW (calf): OUT

    Norman Powell, LAC (back): QUESTIONABLE

    Lauri Markkanen, UTA (back): QUESTIONABLE

    John Collins, UTA (hip): QUESTIONABLE

    Bradley Beal, PHO (ankle): QUESTIONABLE

    Trae Young, ATL (Achilles): PROBABLE

    Elite Players

We have five players with five-figure salaries on Wednesday’s slate – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($11,600), Domantas Sabonis ($10,500), Jayson Tatum ($10,300), LaMelo Ball ($10,200) and Cade Cunningham ($10,000).

SGA could take the floor without Jalen Williams once again and has scored over 54 FD points in three straight, including 58.6 against the Nets on Monday without Williams available. However, OKC is a massive 17-point favorite, which implies Gilgeous-Alexander could see less than a full workload.

Sabonis has at least 50 FD points in four of the last six games and is facing a Warriors team he put up 48.1 FD points against across only 29 minutes on Jan. 5.

Tatum has a pair of tallies of over 50 FD points in his last five games alone, and he’ll face a Clippers team that could potentially be without James Harden and Norman Powell in addition to Ivica Zubac.

Ball has scored between 43.7 and 65.5 FD points in five consecutive games and draws a favorable matchup against the Grizzlies.

Cunningham has flashed a floor of 45 FD points in five of his last six games and will be a central figure in what could be one of the most DFS-friendly game environments of the night against the Hawks.

    Expected Chalk

    Other likely chalk plays include:

    Kevin Durant, PHO ($9,600)

Durant scored 64.9 FD points two games ago and has a very favorable matchup against the Nets, which should keep him very popular.

    Trae Young, ATL ($9,400)

Young will be in what should be a highly favorable game environment for DFS production and has exceeded 56 FD points in three of his last five games, factors that should lock in a high roster rate at his salary.

    Alperen Sengun, HOU ($9,200)

Sengun saw a dip to 27.1 FD points in his most recent game after six straight games with more than 40 FD points, but he should remain very popular in what projects to be a highly competitive game against the Cavaliers.

    Anthony Edwards, MIN ($9,200)

Edwards has scored between 41.6 and 63.7 FD points in four of the last five games and has at least 32 actual points in three of those contests.

    Donovan Mitchell, CLE ($8,900)

Mitchell has scored 49.5 to 56.1 FD points in three of the last four games and will be a key figure in what could be one of the most competitive games of the night.

    Key Values

Jalen Duren, DET at ATL ($6,300)

Duren is coming off having scored a season-high 52.3 FD points against the Rockets on Monday, a game that featured his third straight double-double and four steals. The talented big man is enjoying a stellar January overall, averaging 11.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and 33.8 FD points across 11 games despite playing a modest 25.9 minutes per contest. The Pistons-Hawks game has a narrow spread and high projected total as well, and Atlanta checks in ranked No. 21 in offensive efficiency rating allowed to centers (33.8) while also allowing 56.3 FD points per contest to the position. The Hawks are also giving up the fifth-most points in the paint per game in the last three (53.3), an area of the floor where 82.5 percent of Duren’s scoring originates from.

Naz Reid, MIN at DAL ($5,900)

Reid has had some ups and downs this season, but he enters Wednesday on an extended stretch of impressive production that dates back to New Year’s Eve. The veteran big man has averaged 31.6 FD points in his last 12 games, getting to that figure via 17.4 points (on 52.8 percent shooting, including 52.9 percent from distance), 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 blocks across 27.3 minutes per contest. Reid just scored a season-high 29 points against the Grizzlies on Monday, and he’s eclipsed 30 FD points in six of his last seven games. He has a tally of 25.8 FD points across 26 minutes versus the Mavs this season, and Dallas ranks No. 20 in offensive efficiency rating allowed to centers (33.7) while allowing 56 FD points per game to the position.

Jaylin Williams, OKC vs. UTA ($5,400)

Williams will continue filling in for Isaiah Hartenstein (calf) on Wednesday, and the 2022 second-round pick will check in having scored 31.5 and 36.1 FD points in his last two games, with both those being starts. Williams has eclipsed 20 FD points in five games overall this season (three times off the bench), and his three efforts of greater than 31 FD points have all come within the last 10 days. The Jazz make for a great target as well, considering Utah is allowing a Western Conference-high 36.5 offensive efficiency rating and 60.2 FD points per game to centers.

ALSO CONSIDER: Tari Eason, HOU vs. CLE ($5,700); Jaden McDaniels, MIN at DAL ($5,400); Moses Moody, GSW at SAC ($4,200)

Are you ready to dominate your FanDuel contests on Wednesday, January 22? Look no further than these top lineup plays and strategies to help you secure that winning lineup!

    1. Target high-scoring games: Look for matchups with high over/under totals, as these games typically feature plenty of scoring opportunities for fantasy players. Keep an eye on teams with fast-paced offenses and weak defenses for maximum fantasy production.

    2. Utilize value plays: Identify players who are priced lower than their expected production value. This will allow you to fit in more high-priced studs while still maintaining a competitive lineup. Look for players who are seeing increased minutes or opportunities due to injuries or lineup changes.

    3. Mix in contrarian plays: Differentiate your lineup by selecting players who may be lower-owned but have the potential for a big game. This can help you gain an edge over the competition and increase your chances of finishing in the money.

    4. Monitor injury news: Stay up to date on the latest injury updates and lineup changes leading up to lock. This will help you adjust your lineup accordingly and take advantage of any value that may open up due to injuries.

With these lineup plays and strategies in mind, you’ll be well-equipped to build a winning FanDFuel lineup for Wednesday, January 22. Good luck!

  • NBA Fantasy: DFS lineup picks for Jan. 21

Austin Reaves is fresh off a 38-point win vs. Brooklyn on Friday and gets a favorable matchup vs. Washington tonight.

It’s Tuesday, January 21st. The National Basketball Association (NBA) has five games on the schedule, with a doubleheader on TNT/truTV/Max. The New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Barclays Center in the front end of the nationally televised doubleheader, while the Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets meet in the second end at 10:00 p.m. ET.

    NBA DFS Core Plays

Tyler Herro (PG, SG – MI)

    • DraftKings: $8,300
    • FanDuel: $7,900

Tyler Herro is averaging 24.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 3.8 3-pointers per game in 11 games this month. In the first meeting with the Trail Blazers on January 11th in Portland, Herro was good for 32 points, five rebounds, five assists, and seven 3-pointers.

Portland has allowed 116.7 points per game to rank 24th in the NBA while allowing teams to hit 47.9% from the field and 37.8% from behind the 3-point line.

    Tyrese Maxey (PG – PHI)

    • DraftKings: $9,900
    • FanDuel: $9,700

Tyrese Maxey has a favorable matchup against the Denver Nuggets, who have an opponent rank of 20th. The point guard is averaging 44.9 fantasy points per game.

Maxey has been a powerhouse scorer, and he is coming off a 37-point showing in 41 minutes at Milwaukee on Sunday. He was 14-of-28 from the field, including six 3-pointers, while adding seven assists and six rebounds with a steal. That’s seven straight games with 28+ points. He has grabbed at least six rebounds in three of the past five, with five or more assists in nine games in January. You get maximum effort with Maxey, and you also get what you pay for.

    Karl-Anthony Towns (C – NYK)

    • DraftKings: $9,700
    • FanDuel: $10,000

Karl-Anthony Towns hits the floor against the Brooklyn Nets with an impressive 52.1 fantasy points per game. He is facing a Nets defense with an opponent rank of 23rd. In eight games this month, he is averaging 28.3 points, 16 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.6 steals, and 2.3 3-pointers per game.

Towns is coming off an off night, though, hitting just five of his 18 attempts from the field, and scoring only 13 points. It was his lowest scoring total since December 21st in New Orleans. In his most recent meeting with the Nets on November 17th, he went for 26 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and one blocked shot on 10-of-16 shooting. Look for a bounce-back performance tonight.

    NBA DFS Cash Game Targets

Deni Avdija (SF, PF – POR)

    • DraftKings: $6,800
    • FanDuel: $6,900

Deni Avdija has racked up a respectable 30.1 fantasy points per game. He faces a Heat team ranked in the bottom third of the league defensively against opposing frontcourt players.

Avdija has managed back-to-back double-doubles with 17.5 points, 12 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game in the past two outings. He has four double-doubles in the past seven games. At this price point, he is a tremendous value.

Jimmy Butler (SF, PF – MIA)

    • DraftKings: $7,500
    • FanDuel: $7,500

Jimmy Butler has been a bit erratic since his seven-game team-imposed suspension. He had 18 points against the Nuggets on Friday in his return, but he managed just eight points on 3-of-7 shooting with seven assists, three rebounds, and two blocks on Sunday.

Butler has a favorable matchup with the Trail Blazers. He missed the first meeting between these two teams when he was suspended. His salary is super low for his skillset. This value won’t last long.

    Austin Reaves (PG – LAL)

    • DraftKings: $8,000
    • FanDuel: $7,700

The Lakers are hosting the struggling Washington Wizards, and you always want to have a couple of opponents of the Wiz in your lineup, if not a healthy DFS stack. The Wizards are horrific defensively, allowing 122.8 points per game (30th in the NBA) while allowing teams to hit 47.6% from the field and 36.4% from downtown.

Austin Reaves didn’t do so hot last time out against the Clippers, going for 14 points with five turnovers. Before that, in a favorable defensive matchup, Reaves dropped 38 points on the Brooklyn Nets with four 3-pointers.

    NBA DFS GPP Targets

Cole Anthony (PG, SG – ORL)

    • DraftKings: $6,500
    • FanDuel: $6,500

With Jalen Suggs ruled out for another game due to a strained back, Cole Anthony and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope should see bumps in usage. Anthony is coming off a poor 4-of-13 shooting night against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, ending up with just nine points.

However, he had 11+ points in the previous seven outings. He is averaging 15.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 3-pointers per game across 10 games in January while averaging just short of 30 minutes.

Mikal Bridges (SG, SF – NYK)

    • DraftKings: $6,200
    • FanDuel: $6,400

Mikal Bridges was good for 26 points on 12-of-17 shooting in just 27 minutes on Monday against the Atlanta Hawks. He also tacked on four assists, one rebound, and a 3-pointer. Bridges has come alive in the past four games, going for at least 23 points in three of those games, while hitting 15 total 3-pointers. If he can replicate those stats, he’s a steal at this price.

Kelly Oubre Jr. (SG, SF – PHI)

    • DraftKings: $6,300
    • FanDuel: $6,800

Kelly Oubre Jr. has been rolling along in January, posting 16.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 3-pointers per game in eight contests. He has gradually improved throughout the season, averaging 12.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in December and 10.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in November.

Don’t expect this price to last for long, as his role continues to remain constant and his production picks up.

    NBA DFS Value Plays

    Adem Bona (C – PHI)

    • DraftKings: $4,100
    • FanDuel: $4,000

The Philadelphia frontcourt is a problem right now, especially in the middle. Joel Embiid continues to sit with his knee injury, while Andre Drummond (toe) is a question mark to return. In addition, Guerschon Yabusele, a favorite of ours in recent weeks, is uncertain to go due to a knee ailment. Adem Bona and Pete Nance could see meaningful minutes in the frontcourt.

Bona has looked good in his past two games with extended minutes, averaging 11 points and six rebounds per game. He is a perfect 9-for-9 from the field in that span. Across the past four games, he made all 13 of his field-goal attempts.

Dalton Knecht (SG, SF – LAL)

    • DraftKings: $3,900
    • FanDuel: $4,000

Dalton Knecht is occasionally worth a look when the matchup is favorable. Facing Washington on Tuesday night is one of those situations. The Wizards are horrible defensively, and if the game turns into a blowout, Knecht could see a larger-than-usual role.

Even if it is relatively close, Knecht should shake a few for double-digit points and a handful of 3-pointer opportunities. Rostering Knecht will allow you to spend more lettuce up top on high-ticket items.

    Jonas Valančiūnas (C – WAS)

    • DraftKings: $5,000
    • FanDuel: $5,600

Jonas Valančiūnas turned back the clock on Sunday in Sacramento, going for 23 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists, connecting on nine of his 11 attempts from the field in 23 minutes.

If you need a cheap option in the middle, Valančiūnas has been playing fairly well in January, averaging 11.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in just over 19 minutes per game.

Point Guard: Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks) – Doncic is a triple-double threat every time he steps on the court and has a favorable matchup against a weak defensive team.

Shooting Guard: James Harden (Brooklyn Nets) – Harden is a scoring machine and can stuff the stat sheet in multiple categories. He should have a big night against a struggling opponent.

Small Forward: LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) – James is a consistent performer and always brings his A-game. He should have a solid outing against a middle-of-the-pack defense.

Power Forward: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) – The Greek Freak is a dominant force on both ends of the court and should have a big game against a below-average opponent.

Center: Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets) – Jokic is a versatile big man who can score, rebound, and facilitate for his teammates. He should have a strong performance against a team that struggles to defend the paint.
