AFC Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace FC: Predicted Lineups and Key Matchups

AFC Bournemouth will be hosting Crystal Palace FC in what promises to be an exciting match in the English Premier League. Both teams will be looking to secure three points to boost their position in the table, with Bournemouth aiming to secure their place in the top half of the table and Palace aiming to move further away from the relegation zone.

    Predicted Lineups:

AFC Bournemouth: Ramsdale, Smith, Ake, Cook, Rico, Lerma, Billing, Fraser, Wilson, King, Solanke

Crystal Palace FC: Guaita, Ward, Cahill, Tomkins, Van Aanholt, Kouyate, McArthur, Milivojevic, Zaha, Ayew, Benteke

    Key Matchups:

    1. Callum Wilson vs Gary Cahill: Wilson has been in fine form this season, scoring goals and providing assists for Bournemouth. He will be looking to test the experience and leadership of Cahill in the Palace defense.

    2. Wilfried Zaha vs Diego Rico: Zaha is a key player for Palace and is known for his pace and skill on the ball. Rico will have his hands full trying to contain Zaha and prevent him from creating chances for Palace.

    3. Jefferson Lerma vs Luka Milivojevic: Lerma is a combative midfielder for Bournemouth who will be tasked with disrupting Palace’s midfield play. Milivojevic will need to be at his best to control the midfield battle and provide a platform for Palace to attack.

Overall, this match promises to be a closely contested affair with both teams having quality players who can make a difference on the day. Bournemouth will be looking to capitalize on their home advantage, while Palace will be looking to secure a vital away win. It will be interesting to see how the predicted lineups match up and which key matchups will ultimately decide the outcome of the game.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Dallas Stars NHL December 29, 2024: Preview, how to watch, lineups

For the final time this calendar year, the Blackhawks will skate on United Center ice when they host the Dallas Stars for the fourth and final time this season on Sunday night.

Let’s start with the Blackhawks for a change, since the Stars are more of a known commodity than most Chicago opponents and there is some news involving the home side this afternoon. That news is the return of Wyatt Kaiser from the Rockford IceHogs, with Kevin Korchinski heading the other way up I-90.

Blackhawks send Kevin Korchinski back to Rockford, recall Wyatt Kaiser.

    — Mark Lazerus (@marklazerus.bsky.social) December 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM

Having Kaiser back in Chicago is a good thing: he’s shown flashes of being an NHL-level defenseman and is only 22 years old, so more reps are a good thing for him. The bad thing is that it comes at Korchinski’s expense. With Alec Martinez on the practice ice for Sunday’s morning skate, it does seem that he’s nearing a return, which would give Chicago eight active defensemen: Kaiser, Murphy, Jones, Brodie, Vlasic, Allan, Crevier and the aforementioned Martinez. From this vantage point, it’s real, real difficult to argue against Korchinski not being among the best six of that group, plus he is absolutely expected to be part of the long-term picture here, so it’s extremely annoying to see him headed back to the AHL when it seemed like all reviews of his play were largely positive and there’s no better place for him to continue developing than at the NHL level in Chicago. A counter argument could be that having Korchinski play 20-plus minutes a night in Rockford would be better than the 16:46 he was averaging in nine games with the Hawks, but that’s something which could be remedied by simply playing Korch more.

Anyway, Kaiser won’t suit up just yet after playing a pair of games already this weekend and Martinez isn’t quite ready to return, so Louis Crevier is in the lineup for this game.

Crevier in tonight and Soderblom will start in net for the Blackhawks.

Kaiser is here, but he’s coming off a back to back in Rockford, so he won’t play tonight.

    — Tracey Myers (@traceymyers.bsky.social) December 29, 2024 at 10:42 AM

Here are the expected forward lines and D pairings:

The last time these two teams met, it was a thorough 6-2 beatdown of the Stars at 1901 W. Madison on Thanksgiving Eve, with Taylor Hall providing a hat trick to pace the Chicago offense. Dallas has been closer to average then good in the 13 games since, with a 7-5-1 record in that span that has sent the Stars sliding a bit down the Central Division standings into fourth place with 41 points on the season. Injuries have piled up a bit lately, with Tyler Seguin undergoing a hip surgery that probably ends his season, Matthew Dumba heading to IR before Christmas and Mason Marchment now being sidelined after taking a puck to the face in Dallas’ last game on Thursday: a 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

There’s not a ton offensive thrust here and those injuries don’t help. The Stars leading scorer is Matt Duchene 30 points (17 G, 13 A) in 34 games and the now-injured Marchment was second with 27 (12 G, 15 A) in 33. Four other active Dallas players are over the 20-point mark with the fifth being the sidelined Seguin. What Dallas does have is an excellent blue line featuring Miro Heiskanen, who remains one of the game’s best. Behind them, the goalie tandem of strong starter Jake Oettinger and competent backup Casey DeSmith have all combined for a defense that’s fourth in the league at just 2.59 goals against per game. The Stars also boast the No. 4 penalty kill in the league at 85.1 percent. But all of that comes with a reminder that same defense gave up six goals to a Blackhawks side that couldn’t score on anyone, resulting in the coach getting fired not long after that offensive outburst. So there’s really no telling what could happen in this game.

    Let’s go Hawks.

Theo Hernandez returns to the Milan starting XI with Alvaro Morata and Alex Jimenez in a more advanced role, as Roma look to Paulo Dybala and Artem Dovbyk.

It kicks off at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, also known as San Siro, at 19.45 GMT.

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from today’s four Serie A games on the Liveblog.

It has been a rough campaign for both sides, as while Paulo Fonseca remains under fire, Claudio Ranieri is already the third coach of the season on the Giallorossi bench.

Fonseca dropped Theo Hernandez for two games in a row, but they cleared the air and the France international returns, instead moving the impressive Alex Jimenez into a more advanced role to stand in for not fully fit Rafael Leao.

It’s a long absentee list for the Rossoneri, including Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Yunus Musah, Noah Okafor and Alessandro Florenzi.

Milan have to keep an eye on those fitness problems, as they start 2025 with the Supercoppa Italiana in Riyadh against Juventus on January 3, so Roma-owned Tammy Abraham is on the bench.

Roma boosted their confidence with a 5-0 hammering of Parma, but are desperately seeking some consistency now to climb back up the table.

Bryan Cristante is the only remaining injury absentee, but we see Alexis Saelemaekers start against his parent club, having moved as part of the exchange of loans with Abraham.

Dovbyk has shaken off flu symptoms and starts alongside Dybala, who is being heavily linked with a potential January transfer to Galatasaray.

Mats Hummels is again in the centre of defence, with Leandro Paredes and Manu Koné for the midfield.

    Milan vs. Roma line-ups

Milan: Maignan; Emerson Royal, Thiaw, Gabbia, Theo Hernandez; Terracciano, Fofana; Chukwueze, Reijnders, Jimenez; Morata

Roma: Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, N’Dicka; Saelemaekers, Koné, Paredes, Pisilli, Angelino; Dybala, Dovbyk

    Milan

    Roma

Here are the official line-ups for Week 18 of Serie A:

    Inter Milan vs. AS Roma:
Inter Milan: Handanovic, Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni, Hakimi, Barella, Brozovic, Vidal, Perisic, Martinez, Lukaku
AS Roma: Pau Lopez, Mancini, Ibanez, Kumbulla, Spinazzola, Veretout, Cristante, Pellegrini, Karsdorp, Mkhitaryan, Dzeko

    AC Milan vs. Atalanta:
AC Milan: Donnarumma, Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Hernandez, Kessie, Tonali, Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Leao, Ibrahimovic
Atalanta: Gollini, Toloi, Romero, Djimsiti, Hateboer, De Roon, Freuler, Gosens, Pessina, Ilicic, Zapata

    Napoli vs. Fiorentina:
Napoli: Meret, Di Lorenzo, Manolas, Koulibaly, Rui, Demme, Bakayoko, Politano, Zielinski, Insigne, Mertens
Fiorentina: Dragowski, Milenkovic, Pezzella, Caceres, Biraghi, Amrabat, Pulgar, Castrovilli, Ribery, Vlahovic, Callejon

TURIN, ITALY – DECEMBER 11: Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus celebrates scoring his team’s first goal during the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD6 match between Juventus and Manchester City at Juventus Stadium on December 11, 2024 in Turin, Italy. Juventus start Dusan Vlahovic, Teun Koopmeiners and Samuel Mbangula against Fiorentina’s Moise Kean and Albert Gudmundsson in a grudge match for the top four.

It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin at 17.00 GMT.

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from today’s four Serie A games on the Liveblog.

These clubs have been bitter rivals for decades, which makes it all the spicier when both Vlahovic and Kean are facing their former teams.

Although Juve are unbeaten in Serie A this season, they had played four consecutive stalemates, ended by their 2-1 victory away to rock bottom Monza.

The injury list remains extensive with Tim Weah, Arkadiusz Milik, Jonas Rouhi, Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal, while Andrea Cambiaso and Douglas Luiz are not at 100 per cent.

Weston McKennie is therefore again used as makeshift left-back.

Having been used in midfield against Monza, Koopmeiners is pushed back up into the trequartista role flanked by Francisco Conceicao and surprisingly Mbangula rather than Kenan Yildiz.

Nico Gonzalez, another more recent former Fiorentina player, is on the bench.

Fiorentina had been one of the form teams in Italy with eight Serie A wins on the bounce, but have now lost their last two against Bologna and Udinese.

They also crashed out of the Coppa Italia to Empoli on penalties, but qualified for the Conference League Round of 16.

Edoardo Bove is the only remaining absentee following his medical emergency, so coach Raffaele Palladino – another former Juventus man – has quite a few different options to choose from.

Kean faces his former club and has 10 Serie A goals already this season, supported by Gudmundsson and Andrea Colpani.

Robin Gosens is fatigued, so Fabiano Parisi steps in at left-back.

Both sides have 31 points, although Fiorentina have a game in hand.

    Juventus vs. Fiorentina line-ups

Juventus: Di Gregorio; Savona, Gatti, Kalulu, McKennie; Locatelli, Thuram; Conceicao, Koopmeiners, Mbangula; Vlahovic

Fiorentina: De Gea; Dodò, Comuzzo, Ranieri, Parisi; Cataldi, Adli; Colpani, Gudmundsson, Sottil; Kean

Preview: Wrexham vs. Wigan Athletic – prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday’s League One clash between Wrexham and Wigan Athletic, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

High-flying Wrexham are set to host Wigan Athletic at the Racecourse Ground on Sunday in League One.

The Red Dragons have won their last two games and will head into this weekend’s clash expecting another three points, while Wigan are unbeaten in their last three and will feel capable of getting a positive result on the road this weekend.

    Match preview

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson thanks fans after his side's match against Burton Albion, on December 7, 2024© Imago

Phil Parkinson‘s Wrexham are currently third in League One, having earned an impressive 45 points from their 22 matches so far.

The Red Dragons are two points behind Wycombe Wanderers in the automatic promotion places and will be looking for three points to put pressure on the Chairboys and Birmingham City in the title race.

Last time out, Parkinson’s ever-ambitious side won 2-1 at home against Blackpool thanks to a remarkable strike from Paul Mullin and a late penalty from Steven Fletcher, and that result took his side’s unbeaten streak to eight matches in all competitions.

That stretch goes back to a 1-0 loss against Stockport County in mid-November, and includes six wins and just two draws.

In the league specifically, Wrexham have lost just one of their last 13 games, keeping seven clean sheets in the process, and can boast the best defensive record in the division having conceded just 15 goals this term.

This weekend, the Red Dragons will face a side that have the joint-fourth worst offensive record in League One, and Parkinson will hope their defensive solidity can help to secure the points they need to maintain their push for a third successive promotion.

Wigan Athletic manager Shaun Maloney on September 28, 2024© Imago

Meanwhile, Shaun Maloney‘s Wigan are 14th in the third-tier after picking up 27 points from their 21 games to date.

Last time out, the Latics followed up a derby-day win over Bolton Wanderers on December 14 and a draw with Shrewsbury Town a week later by beating Rotherham United 1-0 on Boxing Day, a match in which academy product Babajide Adeeko netted his first career goal.

They may have been disappointed to have drawn with relegation-threatened Shrewsbury, but those three results gave Maloney’s side a crucial seven points that has taken them four places up the table them from the 18th-placed they were after losing to Leyton Orient on December 7.

More importantly, Wigan were just two points above the relegation zone after losing to the Os, but now, eight points above the relegation places and seven from the playoff spots, the Latics are the definition of mid-table.

With this in mind, Maloney will be looking to continue his side’s form with another positive result on Sunday that would help to both secure their future in the division and move them up the table, though it will be difficult for them to overcome such a high-calibre side.

    Team News

Wrexham's Paul Mullin on September 28, 2024© Imago

Wrexham boss Parkinson has mentioned that George Evans is back in training after recovering from an ankle ligament injury he picked up in October, and though he did not feature against Blackpool, he could make the squad this weekend.

First-choice goalkeeper Arthur Onkonkwo is nearing a return from a broken wrist that he suffered last month, though Mark Howard is likely to start between the sticks once again.

Similarly, striker Jack Marriott, who is in the process of recovering from a broken fibula, has been running on grass but is not expected back in action until 2025.

In his absence, Ollie Palmer will start up front with Paul Mullin, who will be looking to build on his excellent goal last time out and kickstart what has been a poor season by his standards.

Meanwhile, Wigan are likely to be without Matt Smith after he was taken off with an injury against Rotherham, and Scott Smith, who was substituted on in that game, could take his place in the XI on Sunday.

Elsewhere, boss Maloney is likely to task midfielders Babajide Adeeko and Thelo Aasgaard with assisting striker Dale Taylor in breaking down League One’s best defence.

    Wrexham possible starting lineup:
Howard; Barnett, Cleworth, O’Connell, Brunt, McClean; Cannon, James, Rathbone; Mullin, Palmer

    Wigan Athletic possible starting lineup:
Tickle; Sibbick, Kerr, Aimson, Sessegnon; S Smith, J Smith, Adeeko, Aasgaard, Thomas; Taylor

    SM words green background

We say: Wrexham 2-0 Wigan Athletic

Both sides will come into the game with confidence from their form, though it is difficult to ignore the consistency of Wrexham’s results.

Additionally, the Red Dragons’ excellent defence may prove too strong for the Latics to breach, and this makes a win for the hosts on Sunday seem almost inevitable.

Wrexham will face Wigan Athletic in an exciting match-up this weekend, with both teams looking to secure a crucial win. Here is a preview of the game, including predictions, team news, and possible lineups.

    Prediction:
Wrexham and Wigan Athletic are both in good form and will be looking to secure a win in this match. However, Wrexham’s strong home advantage may give them the edge in this game. I predict a narrow victory for Wrexham, with a final score of 2-1.

    Team News:
Wrexham will be without midfielder Luke Young, who is serving a suspension. However, they will have the rest of their squad available for selection. Wigan Athletic, on the other hand, will be missing defender Tom Pearce due to injury. Other than that, they will have a full squad to choose from.

    Possible Lineups:
Wrexham: Lainton, French, Kelleher, Vassell, Hall-Johnson, Durrell, Harris, Jarvis, Davies, Thomas, Ponticelli

    Hawks vs Heat: Starting Lineups

The Atlanta Hawks and the Miami Heat are getting set to tipoff in Atlanta and both teams just revealed their starting lineups for today’s game.

    G- Trae Young

    G – Vit Krejci

    F – Zaccharie Risacher

    F – Jalen Johnson

    C – Clint Capela

    G – Duncan Robinson

    G – Tyler Herro

    F – Haywood Highsmith

    F – Jaime Jaquez

    C – Bam Adebayo

After beating the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, the Atlanta Hawks are back at home to face the Miami Heat and looking to get their third straight win. This is a big game when it comes to the Eastern Conference Standings, as the Heat are just a 0.5 game in front of Atlanta for 6th in the East.

Our owh Rohan Raman previewed the game earlier today:

“Coming into tonight’s game, the Hawks are 7th in the NBA in PPG, 14th in FG%, 20th in 3PA, 18th in 3P%, 3rd in FTA, 27th in turnovers, and 4th in rebounding. Per Cleaning the Glass, Atlanta is 15th in points per 100 possessions, 20th in effective field goal percentage, 19th in turnover percentage, 7th in offensive rebounding percentage, and 6th in free throw rate.

Currently, the Hawks rank 27th in PPG allowed, 20th in field goal percentage allowed, 30th in three-point attempts allowed, and 30th in three-point percentage allowed. Per Cleaning the Glass, Atlanta is 17th in points allowed per 100 possessions and 28th in effective field goal percentage allowed.

Miam is a balanced team that shoots well from deep without turning the ball over. The Heat are 18th in PPG, 21st in FG%, 10th in three point attempts, 6th in 3P%, 9th in free throw attempts, 19th in rebounding, and 6th in turnovers. Per Cleaning the Glass, Miami is 11th in points per 100 possessions, 19th in effective field goal percentage, 7th in turnover percentage, 21st in offensive rebounding percentage, and 4th in free throw rate.

Defensively, the Heat play a really solid brand of team defense. They rank 6th in PPG allowed, 12th in FG%, 13th in three point attempts allowed, and 14th in three-point percentage allowed. Per Cleaning the Glass, Miami is 11th in points allowed per 100 possessions and 12th in effective field goal percentage.

One of the keys to this game is going to be slowing down Herro, which I expect to fall on Dyson Daniels. Daniels has been one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA this year. Although he didn’t have a great game against LaVine, he’ll need to return to his usual form against Herro. I am also interested in seeing whether Jalen Johnson can break a Miami defense that has given him some trouble in recent years. Last season, they held Johnson to 9, 15 and 13 points on lackluster efficiency across three games. It will be interesting to see if Miami puts Adebayo on him for an extended period or if they use a combination of Highsmith/Jaquez Jr. Jaquez Jr’s sophomore season has been less impressive offensively, but his defense has taken a noticeable leap. He was critical to the Heat’s win agaisnt Orlando where he racked up five steals and a block.

Although it wasn’t the most efficient performance, DeAndre Hunter did have 23 points and 11 rebounds against the Heat in the Hawks’ play-in game last season. He has been a pleasant surprise for Atlanta as one of the best sixth men in basketball this year. His strong play has been a critical reason why the Hawks have the third-most points off the bench this year. After another great performance against the Bulls, it will be interesting to see if he can have another scoring outburst. On the Miami side, Duncan Robinson getting hot can change things in a hurry. If the Hawks do not have Bogdanovic, they’ll have to run Robinson off the line and keep him under wraps.”

According to Fanduel Sportsbook, Atlanta is a two-point favorite tonight against the Heat, and the total is set at 225.5.

The highly anticipated matchup between the Atlanta Hawks and the Miami Heat is sure to be a thrilling game. Here are the starting lineups for both teams:

    Atlanta Hawks:
    – Trae Young (PG)
    – Bogdan Bogdanovic (SG)
    – De’Andre Hunter (SF)
    – John Collins (PF)
    – Clint Capela (C)

    Miami Heat:
    – Kyle Lowry (PG)
    – Duncan Robinson (SG)
    – Jimmy Butler (SF)
    – P.J. Tucker (PF)
    – Bam Adebayo (C)

Both teams have a strong lineup and it will be interesting to see how they match up against each other on the court. Who do you think will come out on top in this exciting matchup? Let us know in the comments below!

CONFIRMED lineups for Lazio v Atalanta clash

As Lazio host Atalanta on matchday 18 of Serie A, Baroni’s men will be looking to end the visitors’ 11-match winning streak in Serie A before bidding farewell to 2024. Atalanta lead the table with 40 points, with six points separating them from their opponents down in fourth – Napoli and Inter occupy the second and third place.

‘La Dea’ have been a real force in the Italian top flight this season but their title bid recently suffered a huge blow as in-form Mateo Retegui is sidelined with a hamstring injury. The former Genoa striker was brought in last summer to replace injured Gianluca Scamacca, who tore his ACL during pre-season and turned out to be one of the signings of the year as he leads the league scoring charts with 12 goals

Midfielder Mario Pasalic therefore steps in for the injured forward and starts behind Ademola Lookman and Charles De Ketelaere in attack. Matteo Ruggeri is also absent from tonight’s clash due to a problem with his right toe, while Scamacca (individual training) and Scalvini (team training) have made their returns to training from respective long-term injuries.

On the other hand, Manuel Lazzari has handed Lazio a fresh injury blow and thus joins the list of absentees alongside Pedro and NoslinMatias Vecino is also ruled out with a long-term injury and is expected to return sometime in February. As a result, Lazio boss Baroni has opted to start Fisayo Dele-Bashiru alongside Nicolo Rovella and Matteo Guendouzi in midfield.

Possible lineups for Lazio v Atalanta

Lazio’s confirmed starting XI (4-3-3): Provedel (GK); Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Tavares; Guendouzi, Rovella, Dele-Bashiru; Tchaouna, Castellanos, Zaccagni.

Atalanta’s confirmed starting XI (3-4-1-2): Carnesecchi (GK); Djimsiti, Hien, Kolasinac; Bellanova, Ederson, De Roon, Zappacosta; Pasalic; De Ketelaere, Lookman.
