    OHIO (WFFT) — In Ohio, every vote counts.

    Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose revealed 23 local races generated automatic recounts from the General Election in November.

    The recounts yielded close results: three issues had a tie in votes, three races came down to three votes and three races were determined by one vote.

    According to LaRose, the nine races’ results show the importance of eligible voters heading to the polls.

    “Never let anyone tell you a single vote doesn’t matter, which is why we continue to make sure it is both easy to vote and hard to cheat in the Buckeye State,” LaRose said in a statement. “While the focus is often on the top of the ticket, local elections can have a big impact on communities across Ohio.”

    Even though the issues and races ranged, LaRose expressed that each vote collectively equals a community’s voice.

    “By doing our part to protect the vote, we are also protecting your voice to ensure the outcome accurately reflects the will of the community,” LaRose said in a statement.

    The state is already gearing up for more candidate races and packed ballots for the 2025 election cycle.

    “Local elections which occur in odd-numbered years like 2025 can come down to notoriously slim margins, so it is more important than ever to ensure you are registered to vote and prepared to participate in our democracy in the New Year,” LaRose said in a statement.
