  • Jennifer Lopez and Producers Ben Affleck, Matt Damon ‘Cared About Us as People,’ Says “Unstoppable”’s Anthony Robles (Exclusive)

Anthony Robles worked with a group of Hollywood’s starriest filmmakers to turn his life story into the new movie Unstoppable.

Born with one leg and a 2011 NCAA championship winner, Robles, 36, is played by Jharrel Jerome in the biopic based on his 2013 memoir, while Jennifer Lopez plays his mother Judy. Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña and Don Cheadle also star. As Robles tells PEOPLE, “It’s a star-studded cast.”

The same can be said for the behind-the-camera crew. Along with William Goldenberg, whom Robles calls “an amazing director,” Unstoppable came to life thanks to producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon through their production company Artists Equity.

“Ben and Matt, they made it a point to include my family through everything,” says the former wrestler, who launched his wrestling career from humble beginnings in his hometown of Mesa, Arizona. Depicted in the movie are the highs and lows of Robles’ years at Arizona State University as he and his four half-siblings endured a difficult relationship with their mother’s husband.

“I stand by what we showed in that film,” says Robles, who prioritized “accuracy” as producer, consultant and Jerome’s stunt double in wrestling scenes.

It was the filmmakers determined to tell his story authentically who helped him achieve that goal. “It was cool just to see how fired up [Affleck] was about the whole process,” he recalls.

Robles’ family members, he says, “were just grateful for how much care and attention that everyone showed, beginning with Billy, all the way to Jharell and Jennifer. They cared about our input, our insight, and just our concerns.”

He adds, “It’s one thing for them to be excited about telling our story, but they really just cared about us as people.”

During filming, the cast and crew spent time with the Robles family in Arizona. “To see Jennifer and my mom just spending hours talking, and Jennifer really opening up to her and sharing things about her life — they bonded,” he says. “Same thing with Jharrel and I. It was really more of an organic friendship that we were just able to build together, separately, to trust and to open up about those things.”

With Unstoppable on the page, big screen and now streaming, Robles hopes his tale of overcoming the odds inspires others. “The story itself is something I’m proud of and that’s special to me,” he says.

“I want everyone to relate to the fact that we all wrestle with a challenge. It can be a physical challenge, it could be mental, it can be relationships. There’s always going to be an opponent in your life that you face. It doesn’t matter what background you have, everyone understands that.”

Unstoppable is now streaming on Prime Video.

  • Chris Estrada Tries To Be Selenis Leyva’s Bad Boy in ‘Lopez vs. Lopez’ Season 3 Sneak Peek [Exclusive]

Love is in the air for Rosie (Selenis Leyva) on this week’s episode of Lopez vs. Lopez, but it may not all be sunshine and rainbows. Collider can exclusively share a new sneak peek at the upcoming Season 3 installment, titled “Lopez vs. Memories,” in which Mayan’s (Mayan Lopez) mom and George’s (George Lopez) ex-wife tries to get back into dating. For once, she’s found a genuinely nice guy who also happens to be Quinten’s (Matt Shively) boss, played by comedian Chris Estrada. However, the blossoming relationship leaves both Mayan and Quinten feeling uneasy and the footage sees the latter trying his best to coach him into being a bad boy for Rosie, with laughable results.

Roberto (Estrada) enters the scene dressed in a leather jacket and a gold chain, looking like “a guy who has a naked woman painted on the hood of his car.” Not unlike Estrada’s mild-mannered main character in his Hulu series This Fool, he’s not that kind of person, but Quinten pushes his boss to lean into his dangerous side. That’s easier said than done though, considering the most dangerous thing Roberto has done was play percussion lieutenant in the marching band. Nonetheless, they roll up to the double date with Rosie and Maya ready to present him in a new light, only for him to immediately show his dorky side with the old bouquet-in-the-sleeve magic trick. The cringe keeps on coming when he tries to save it by saying he’s a Magic Castle certified illusionist “in the streets and in the sheets,” and that his other hobby, D&D, actually stands for “Drunk and Disorderly.”

Judging from Rosie’s confused and concerned expression and shared looks with Mayan, Roberto does not make the best of impressions during their date. He and Quinten may have some work to do to make him a more suitable suitor for the Lopez family matriarch than her past beaus, but the bad boy mentality is a clear swing and a miss. Estrada is the perfect fit for this role after spending two seasons on This Fool playing the well-meaning Julio Lopez, a 30-year-old still in his parents’ home and spending more time on charity than himself. Lopez vs. Lopez will mark his first live-action appearance on the small screen since his Los Angeles-centric comedy series ended in 2023, though he’s also previously provided his voice to Disney’s Hamster and Gretel and Freeform’s Praise Petey.

What Else Is Happening in the Latest Episode of ‘Lopez vs. Lopez’ Season 3?

While everyone else is focused on Rosie and Roberto this week, George has troubles of his own at home. The elder Lopez is forced to face painful memories to recover the lost home videos of Mayan when she was young. Lopez vs. Lopez has always been focused on the relationship and generational strain between the father and daughter at its heart, and “Lopez vs. Memories” has the chance to be an emotional episode that directly confronts George’s past mistakes. The series’s warmness is part of the reason why it’s still going strong for NBC into Season 3, yet there’s still plenty more to come. After tonight’s episode, only three episodes remain with the finale on February 7 welcoming Saved By the Bell star Mario Lopez for an episode bound to bring laughs and a bit of jealousy from George.

Lopez vs. Lopez Season 3, Episode 11 premieres on NBC tonight at 8:30 p.m. Check out our exclusive sneak peek in the player above.

George Lopez Has ‘Pretty Woman’ Moment in ‘Lopez vs. Lopez’ (Exclusive)

    Don’t mess with George Lopez!

On the Jan. 3 episode of the NBC sitcom Lopez vs. Lopez, Lopez finds himself in more antics — and recreating a moment from an iconic film in the process.

“George (Lopez) has a pretty big secret to keep when he starts secretly spending time with Rosie’s ex,” an official description for the episode reads. “Mayan tries to manage a customer’s move herself. Quinten tries to tackle a plumbing problem at home, but is he man enough to handle it without George?”

In PEOPLE’s exclusive preview of the upcoming episode, Lopez, 63, channels Julia RobertsPretty Woman character to have his own iconic moment in a hardware store.

The clip begins with George strutting his stuff — with shopping bags in tow — as he enters a hardware store while “Pretty Georgie,” a rendition of the 1990 film’s theme song by Roy Orbison is heard.

Once he makes his grand entrance, Josué Consuelos (Jaime Camil) asks George, “Georgie, another hardware store? We already shop at five others.”

“I’m just here to make a point,” George responds.

He then swiftly moves on and turns to a store employee, asking, “Do you remember me?”

Despite confirming that he did, in fact, remember him, George continues, “I’ll tell you who I am. I was in here yesterday. You work on commission, right?”

The employee corrects him and says he works on an “hourly wage,” but George will not be deterred. He says, “Whatever. We just went shopping at every hardware boutique in town: The Wrench Connection, Screwy Vuitton and Le Tool.”

“I don’t care,” the employee responds, but George declares, “Big mistake. Big.”

The moment is reminiscent of the response from Roberts’ character, Vivian Ward, after she gets the cold shoulder from store employees in the beloved rom-com, which also stars Richard Gere.

In the iconic scene, Vivian, who is a sex worker that falls for Gere’s Edward Lewis, asked the employee who snubbed her, “Hello! Do you remember me?”

When she claims to not recall the woman, Vivian — carrying shopping bags on both arms — responds, “I was in here yesterday. You wouldn’t wait on me. You work on commission, right? Big mistake. Big. Huge.”

In October, Lopez told PEOPLE that Lopez vs. Lopez — which also stars his daughter Mayancould be his last project, but he is making the most of it.

“I would like for it to go a few more seasons, but yeah, after this, I’d like to have a little time for myself,” George said of his career plans.

Of working with his daughter, who he shares with his ex-wife Ann Serrano, George shared, “She’s doing great.”

“In the beginning, I could tell when she was a little bit maybe frustrated a little bit and I would talk to her a little bit, but she works really hard when she’s not on the set,” he explained. “That’s my big thing — is to be on time. And she’s always prepared.”

“It’s exciting,” he added. “I mean, every week that we do the show, she just gets better and better. She’s able to do more physical stuff, more character stuff, and that’s really kind of what she talked about when she was 12 and she was talking about wanting to be on TV.”

  • Bucks predicted to cut ties with Brook Lopez in favor of Lakers’ top trade target

Bucks predicted to cut ties with Brook Lopez in favor of Lakers’ top trade target

The idea of adding a complementary big man alongside veteran Brook Lopez seems more likely for the Milwaukee Bucks.

However, upgrading from the veteran Lopez while retaining a former Sixth Man of the Year candidate in Bobby Portis is also a possibility. If that’s the route the Bucks choose to take, Sports Illustrated proposed the following three-team deal between Milwaukee, the Indiana Pacers, and the Washington Wizards.

Wizards receive: Jarace Walker, James Wiseman, 2025 second-round pick (via IND), 2029 second-round pick (via IND), 2031 second-round pick (via MIL)

Bucks receive: Jonas Valanciunas and Aaron Nesmith

    Pacers receive: Brook Lopez

Valanciunas is the Los Angeles Lakers’ top trade target and has been for several months now. The Wizards don’t have any reason to favor one destination over the other for the 32-year-old, so it simply comes down to the stronger trade package.

“While sending Lopez away would be tough, landing Valanciunas would help soften the blow,” SI’s Matt Levine wrote. “The veteran big man has looked good with the Wizards this season and he could be with this team for the next few years… Adding in Nesmith would be a bonus for a Bucks team that could use some extra depth around the edges.”

Could the Lakers trump a return of a 21-year-old former lottery pick in Walker? It remains to be seen. Wiseman and the second-round picks lack value, but the Pacers forward alone could outweigh anything LA can offer to Washington’s front office.

MORE BUCKS NEWS: Bucks predicted to add heavily-desired $94 million forward via trade

According to recent reports, the Milwaukee Bucks are considering cutting ties with veteran center Brook Lopez in favor of pursuing the Los Angeles Lakers’ top trade target.

Lopez, who has been with the Bucks since 2018, has been an integral part of the team’s success, particularly on the defensive end. However, with the Bucks looking to make a splash in the trade market, it appears that Lopez could be the odd man out.

The Lakers’ top trade target is said to be a top-tier forward who could provide additional scoring and playmaking alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. While the specifics of the potential trade have not been revealed, it is clear that the Lakers are willing to part ways with some of their key assets in order to make a championship push.

As for Lopez, it remains to be seen where he could end up if the Bucks do decide to move on from him. With his defensive prowess and shooting ability, there will likely be no shortage of suitors for the 33-year-old center.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story as the NBA trade deadline approaches.

“Ben gifted Jennifer with the book because she’s a fan, plus her Super Bowl bodysuit was inspired by Marlon Brando,” a source tells Page Six.

“The gifts were mostly for each other’s kids, but they did exchange a few small things for each other as well,” the insider adds.

“It was nothing over the top, but more so a gesture to celebrate the holidays. Ben and Jennifer have remained amicable despite the ongoing divorce proceedings.”

As we previously reported, Affleck and Lopez have every intention of continuing to be in each other’s lives despite not being romantically involved.

“Ben and Jennifer are still connected, and they do communicate when it involves their kids,” a source recently shared with us.

The exes first began dating in 2002 after working together on the movie “Gigli.” They got engaged for the first time in November of that year but called it quits in January 2004.

The two rekindled their romance in early 2021 — and got engaged for the second time in April 2022.

However, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in August on the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding ceremony, which they held after eloping in Las Vegas in July 2022.

The actor was previously married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2015. They co-parent their three children: Violet, 19, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.

J.Lo, meanwhile, was married to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, and they share 16-year-old twins Max and Emme.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Ben Affleck has pulled out all the stops to make sure Jennifer Lopez has a Christmas to remember. The actor and director reportedly spared no expense in selecting the perfect gift for his rekindled flame.

According to sources close to the couple, Ben surprised Jennifer with a stunning diamond necklace that is said to be worth a jaw-dropping six figures. The exquisite piece of jewelry is said to be custom-designed and features rare diamonds set in a one-of-a-kind design.

The gift is said to symbolize Ben’s deep love and appreciation for Jennifer, and sources say she was overjoyed and moved to tears upon receiving it. The couple has been inseparable since rekindling their romance earlier this year, and it seems that Ben is determined to make this holiday season one to remember.

Fans of the couple have been eagerly following their every move, and this extravagant gift is sure to generate even more buzz around their relationship. It seems that Ben Affleck truly knows how to spoil his leading lady, and we can’t wait to see what other surprises he has in store for Jennifer in the future. Here’s to a happy and love-filled holiday season for Ben and Jennifer!

  • Greg Lopez steps aside after 6 months in Congress; Boebert takes seat

Greg Lopez steps aside after 6 months in Congress; Boebert takes seat

On Friday, U.S. Rep. Greg Lopez will make Colorado congressional history — well, almost.

After less than half a year representing the 4th Congressional District, Lopez will step aside as the second-shortest-serving member of Congress in state history — behind only William E. Burney, who filled a vacancy in Colorado’s then-3rd District from Nov. 5, 1940, to Jan. 3, 1941.

Lopez, a Republican who was sworn into Congress on July 8, said his congressional stint was an “honor and a pleasure,” if a bit discombobulated. The former mayor of Parker and a two-time Colorado gubernatorial hopeful rented 14 places on short-term leases to serve as home during his six months of service in Washington, D.C.

“I was like that foreign exchange student — I showed up in the middle of the year and missed the yearbook picture, but everybody liked me because they didn’t know that much about me,” he told The Denver Post last week, as he picked up pozole in Aurora for Christmas dinner with his wife of 37 years, Lisa.

Despite the truncated term, Lopez played a small but notable role in what became a convoluted electoral chess game centered on the political survival of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, boosted GOP billing among Colorado’s congressional delegation and, ultimately, solidified Republican control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the upcoming Congress.

“The amount of coordination and the little bit of luck to get this to come together is something I will be teaching in class for a while,” Colorado State University political science professor Kyle Saunders said. “It’s a political story, it’s a campaign story and it’s a candidate story.”

Lopez, 60, won a special election in late June to fill out the term of Ken Buck, the longtime representative of the Eastern Plains district. Buck had abandoned his seat in March — nine months before his term was up. His retirement, announced in late 2023, set in motion a switch by Boebert, who was facing tough reelection prospects in her Western Slope district, to politically friendlier territory on the other side of the state.

The plan worked: Boebert won a hard-fought 4th Congressional District primary in a crowded Republican field and went on to win election easily in November. On the same night, Republican Jeff Hurd defeated his well-funded Democratic opponent, Adam Frisch, in the district Boebert had departed less than a year prior, and two years after Frisch nearly toppled her in the midterm election.

“It led to the Republicans holding both of these seats,” Saunders said of Boebert’s move.

Lopez, chosen by the 4th District’s central committee in late March to run in the special election, made it clear from the outset that he wouldn’t run in the June 25 primary against Boebert and nine other GOP hopefuls.

Boebert, in a statement, praised Lopez as having represented Colorado “in a principled manner” as she scrapped her way to becoming his successor. The 4th District seat represents agricultural communities across a large expanse of land but also well-populated suburban Douglas County in south metro Denver.

“While his time in Congress may have been quick, Congressman Lopez absolutely made the most of it and gave a voice to Colorado’s 4th District that his constituents had been without for too long,” she said. “He consistently went above and beyond his duties, from speaking up for his district in internal meetings and on the House floor to being an eager collaborator on the issues we agreed on, like cutting wasteful government spending.”

The nation’s mounting debt was a chief concern for Lopez while he was in Congress. In his final vote as a congressman, he opposed a continuing resolution to fund the government, saying on Dec. 20 that he could not “accept a bill that does nothing to address our $36 trillion debt.”

In September, he introduced a bill requiring a tally of the national debt to be listed on ballots in elections for federal office.

The next month, he introduced a bill touting a “Red Card” system to allow private businesses to hire immigrant workers who enter and live in the U.S. to work “under strict government oversight.” The arrangement, which would be critical to the 4th District’s labor-hungry agricultural sector, would not provide those workers a path to citizenship.

At the time that concern about Venuezelan gang activity and arrests in Aurora was making national headlines in September, Lopez introduced a measure that called on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to detain and deport people in the country illegally with known gang affiliations.

In a surprising turn of events, Greg Lopez has announced that he will be stepping aside after only 6 months in Congress. The reasons for his sudden departure are unclear, but many speculate that it may be due to personal reasons or disagreements with fellow lawmakers.

Taking his place will be Lauren Boebert, a controversial figure known for her outspoken and often divisive views. Boebert has already made headlines for her strong stance on gun rights and her unwavering support for former President Trump.

It remains to be seen how Boebert will fare in Congress, but one thing is for certain – her presence is sure to shake things up in the halls of power. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Jennifer Lopez called Bruno Mars’ wedding performance fee ‘ridiculous,’ says former planner

Jennifer Lopez called Bruno Mars’ wedding performance fee ‘ridiculous,’ says former planner

No way is Jenny from the Block overpaying for entertainment at her wedding — not even if that entertainer is Bruno Mars.

That’s the word from celebrity wedding planner Marcy Blum, who recently appeared on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast and shared details about her time planning Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s scrapped nuptials.

The iconic singer/songwriter/actress and the 14-time All-Star Yankees third baseman worked with Blum following their March 2019 engagement, and that process included a discussion of possible entertainers for their wedding.

Blum told podcast hosts Lauryn Evarts Bosstick and Michael Bosstick that Lopez asked about hiring Mars to perform. Blum said that her response was, “We just worked with him, and he’s five.”

“Million?” Michael Bosstick asked. “Just to perform for the night?”

“The night?” Blum said. “You get 45 minutes, you get an hour.”

According to Blum, Lopez’s reaction to the “Marry You” singer’s fee was similarly incredulous: “Don’t be ridiculous,” she recalled the multi-hyphenate saying.

Lopez, 55, and Rodriguez, 49, split up in 2021, five years after they publicly confirmed their relationship. Lopez rekindled her romance with ex Ben Affleck later that year, and Jen and Ben tied the knot in July 2022. (Mars did not perform.) The couple divorced in August.

Although J Lo and A-Rod never made it down the aisle, Blum shared her advice for other couples considering a high-profile performer for their own marital celebration.

“You would never have a headliner, if you were sane, as the regular entertainment. No one wants to do their first dance — or maybe they do, but they shouldn’t — to Coldplay or something. That’s just dumb,” she said. “You want a band band and maybe a deejay, and then maybe you want 45 minutes of Chris Martin or Elton John or whomever you want. Because otherwise, it’s all about them.”

Representatives for Blum, Lopez, Mars, and Rodriguez did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment. Blum, the author of Wedding Planning for Dummies, said she was able to share her memories of working on Lopez and Rodriguez’s wedding because she never signed an NDA.

You can catch Blum’s conversation on “The Skinny Confidential” here, or watch a clip of her discussing Lopez, Rodriguez, and Mars below:

In a recent interview, Jennifer Lopez revealed that she was shocked by Bruno Mars’ wedding performance fee, calling it ‘ridiculous.’ The pop star, who has been in the music industry for decades, said that she was approached by a former event planner who disclosed the astronomical amount that Mars charges for a private performance at a wedding.

Lopez expressed disbelief at the figure, stating that while she understands the value of a live performance, she believes that such exorbitant fees are unjustifiable. She emphasized the importance of staying grounded and humble, even in the face of success and fame.

The singer’s comments have sparked a debate among fans and industry insiders, with some defending Mars’ right to charge whatever he deems appropriate for his talents, while others agree with Lopez’s sentiments about the extravagant nature of such fees.

Regardless of where one stands on the issue, it’s clear that the topic of celebrity performance fees at private events is a contentious one. What do you think about Bruno Mars’ wedding performance fee? Let us know in the comments below.
