Former Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels SLAMS Ozempic: ‘Try anything else’
Former Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels has sounded the alarm on GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic, urges people to ‘try anything else’ to lose weight.
Michaels, 50, shared her thoughts on the popular drugs taking Hollywood by storm during an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com in New York City this month.
Over the past few years, GLP-1 medications, which have historically been used to treat type 2 diabetes, have become extremely popularized as a weight-loss aid after they were approved by the FDA.
Ozempic contains a compound called semaglutide, which ‘mimics the GLP-1’ hormone, according to UCLA Health – a hormone that can work with your brain to suppress your appetite and make you feel fuller more quickly.
When it’s taken in a high dose, combined with diet and exercise, it can help people lose weight.
It’s particularly taken off in Hollywood, with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Sharon Osbourne, and Rebel Wilson all having admitted to taking a weight-loss drug.
But Michaels, who helped people lose hundreds of pounds without weight loss medication or surgery on The Biggest Loser, is not exactly a fan.
‘Everything with medication, for me personally, is a cost-benefit analysis,’ Michaels told DailyMail.com exclusively.

Over the past few years, GLP-1 medications, which have historically been used to treat type 2 diabetes, have become extremely popularized as a weight-loss aid
She made the analogy to that of antibiotics, explaining that she ‘doesn’t want to live in a world’ without them, but doesn’t like to take them unless it’s ‘life or death,’ citing side effects.
Michaels said that she looks at GLP-1 medications in a ‘similar fashion.’
‘In other words, if you’re morbidly obese, if you’ve tried everything, generally, there will also be a deep psychological component, a physiological addiction, if you have other elements of your health that have failed you, in this cost-benefit analysis, you will absolutely twist my arm,’ she admitted.
However, she still does not encourage people to take them due to some recent studies, like one done by Prime Therapeutics which showed that a high percentage of users no longer took the drug after one year.
Michaels claimed that the drugs are ‘not sustainable’ and have side effects that you ‘won’t out-run over time.’
While the medications are FDA-approved for treating Type 2 diabetes, Wegovy and Zepbound are the only two approved by the FDA for weight loss alone.
Doctors, patients, and studies have reported various side effects of the drugs.
The weight loss drug makers face as many as 10,000 lawsuits due to severe side effects like stomach paralysis, tears in patients’ food pipes, blindness, and suicidal thoughts.

In a February 2023 interview with People, the mom-of-two claimed that she had convinced multiple friends to get off the drug
‘If you’re taking this to lose 20 pounds, 30 pounds, 45, 50 pounds, I would strongly suggest trying anything else,’ Michaels told DailyMail.com.

This isn’t the first time that the trainer has slammed the medications.
In a February 2023 interview with People, the mom-of-two claimed that she had convinced multiple friends to get off the drug.
She alleged you can have a ‘rebound’ weight gain after stopping the medicine.
‘Once they get off of the drug, it does the rebound effect,’ she told the outlet at the time.
‘So you’re not gaining anything. You get off the drug in a year and go all the way back. You’ve not learned anything. You’ve not built any physical strength or endurance. You haven’t learned how to eat healthy.’
Former Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels recently took to social media to slam the weight loss medication Ozempic, advising her followers to “try anything else” instead. In a post on Instagram, Michaels expressed her concerns about the potential side effects of Ozempic, which is a prescription medication used to treat obesity. She cited research showing a link between the drug and an increased risk of pancreatitis and thyroid tumors.
“Please, try anything else before you resort to this potentially dangerous medication,” Michaels wrote. She went on to recommend alternative methods for weight loss, such as diet and exercise, as safer and more sustainable options.
Michaels’ strong stance against Ozempic has sparked debate among her followers, with some praising her for speaking out against potentially harmful medications, while others defend the drug’s effectiveness in helping with weight loss.
Regardless of where you stand on the issue, it’s clear that Michaels’ message has struck a chord with many people who are struggling with their weight. As always, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new weight loss regimen, especially when considering prescription medications like Ozempic.

Lys becomes first lucky loser to make Melbourne last 16
Germany’s Eva Lys has become the first lucky loser to make the last 16 at the Australian Open in the Open Era after defeating Jaqueline Cristian 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in 2 hours and 25 minutes.
Australian Open: Scores | Schedule | Draws
The World No.128 fell in the final round of qualifying to Destanee Aiava, but was one of the four highest-ranked losers of that round. Those four players entered the pool from which lucky losers would be pulled, and Lys was drawn in third place.
She opted to delay her flight home and remain on site in case a spot opened. Ahead of her, Petra Martic had received the first lucky loser place on the day qualifying ended, and Harriet Dart received the second on Monday. On Tuesday, No.13 seed Anna Kalinskaya withdrew; Lys, who heard the news while on the physio table, had just 10 minutes to prepare for her first-round match. She promptly dismissed Kimberly Birrell 6-2, 6-2.
Four days later, Lys finds herself in the second week of a major for the first time, having never previously gone beyond the second round, and with a Top 100 debut guaranteed following the tournament. She’s just the sixth lucky loser to make the last 16 of a Grand Slam in the Open Era, following Hana Strachonova (Roland Garros 1980), Dana Gilbert (Roland Garros 1982), Nicole Muns-Jagerman (Roland Garros 1988), María José Gaidano (US Open 1993) and Elina Avanesyan (Roland Garros 2023). Strachonova’s run took her to the third round in a 64-player draw; the others all made the fourth round.
“It’s definitely an insane story, how fast it happened,” said Lys after defeating Cristian. “It’s been just a couple of days. Those days have totally changed my life … I feel like my lucky loser position definitely helps me. Sometimes you just need a second chance.”
The breakthrough is a long-awaited one for Lys. She has ended the past three seasons in the Top 130, but despite her evident ball-striking ability, was unable to get her ranking above No.105 — partly due to thinking about it too much.
“I was always struggling the closer I came to the Top 100, the closer I came to those big tournaments,” said Lys. “At the end of the day I know I have the level, but I was always putting too much pressure on myself. I always knew what’s at stake. I always wanted it so bad. That was also the reason why I could never actually go out and win.
“My first AO experience, I made it through qualies. I played [Cristina] Bucsa first round. I played so well first set. Second set, I had that realization where I knew how many points I would make, I knew what my ranking position would be. What do you think? I lost the second set 6-0. Sometimes my head is just way further than my game and my physical self.”
Lys’ physical self has also been something she’s struggled with. She has been hindered by spondyloarthritis, an immune condition with which she was diagnosed in 2020 and made public last March. It has affected her ability to train, schedule and sometimes complete matches over the years.
“I was unhappy that I couldn’t do as much or be as intense [as other players],” Lys said at Wimbledon last year. “One thing I learned is not to look at other players. If I hit a wall I need to listen to my body, and the most important thing for me is recovery.”
After winning consecutive three-setters, Lys feels she has it under control for now.
“I had two amazing matches,” she said. “In the third set I was there. In the third set I was playing my best tennis. So I’m definitely very happy how we managed to get my body to a more stable environment. … At the end of the day, this is always just a part of my life. I always have to watch out. I have to take care of my body. I have to eat well. I have to recover well for the body just to stay in shape.”
Lys’ next test will be one of the most challenging of this era on the Hologic WTA Tour: the formidable World No.2 Iga Swiatek, who has dropped just three games in her past two matches. It’s a bit of a throwback memory for Lys, who first played Swiatek in the second round of Stuttgart 2022 on her WTA main-draw debut.
“Even then I had amazing rallies with her,” Lys recalled. “I lost 1 and 1. She had the streak going on, so she was playing really, really intense … Definitely really excited to play her. She’s an amazing player. I’m definitely waiting for matches like that. This is the reason why I play tennis.
“I also think I’m not going to get underestimated in Round 4. I see that I do have chances. I’m just going to try and play my best tennis. I think she definitely will have to work a little harder to get that win.”
First, though, Lys has a flight to reschedule — again. Last week, she had rescheduled it for Sunday on the basis that six days would be sufficiently far away. Instead, she’ll be preparing to battle for a place in the quarterfinals.
“It’s actually pretty funny,” said Lys. “I’m glad we have to change it now!”
In a surprising turn of events at the Australian Open, 22-year-old Lys has become the first lucky loser in history to make it to the last 16 in Melbourne. After losing in the final round of qualifying, Lys was given a second chance to compete in the main draw as a lucky loser when another player withdrew due to injury.Despite the odds stacked against her, Lys has been on fire in the tournament, defeating higher-ranked opponents with her powerful serves and strategic play. Her remarkable run has captured the attention of tennis fans around the world, who are cheering her on as she continues to defy expectations.
With each match, Lys is proving that she belongs among the elite players on the tour. Her Cinderella story is a reminder that in sports, anything is possible with determination and belief in oneself.
As Lys prepares to take on her next opponent in the last 16, all eyes will be on her as she looks to continue her historic journey at the Australian Open. Stay tuned to see if she can keep the magic alive and make even more history in Melbourne.

Qualifier, lucky loser among second week appearances
In 2019, the WTA revamped its special ranking rule, allowing players returning from pregnancy to use it for three years from the date of childbirth – though they can’t be seeded. That facilitated Belinda Bencic’s entry to the AO with a special ranking of No.15 after returning from maternity leave.
The Swiss 27-year-old, who gave birth last April, is in rarefied company as she chases a place in what would be her maiden AO quarterfinal.
The world No.294 – whose comeback has exceeded her own expectations – is aiming to replicate the feat of her countrywoman Martina Hingis, who reached the AO 2006 quarterfinals ranked 349, albeit as a wildcard returning from injury, and Justine Henin, who advanced to the AO 2010 final as a wildcard, unranked at the time.
If Bencic upsets Coco Gauff on Sunday and conquers her next three opponents to lay claim to the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup next weekend, she’ll be the lowest-ranked women’s singles player to win an AO title.
On the men’s side, Australian Mark Edmondson holds bragging rights as the lowest-ranked Grand Slam champion thanks to his AO 1976 triumph ranked 212th.
As she aims to enter new territory in Melbourne, Bencic can also take inspiration from Serena Williams’ progress at three of the Grand Slams that the American entered with a protected ranking: at the 2011 US Open, Williams reached the final and in 2018 she reached the fourth round of Roland Garros and the Wimbledon final.
Lastly, qualifier Lerner Tien is hunting down another record.
The world No.121, with six wins under his belt at Melbourne Park, is on a well-trodden path: as qualifiers, Bob Giltinan and Aslan Karatsev made it all the way to the AO semifinals in 1977 and 2021, respectively.
But even if he doesn’t match or surpass Giltinan and Karatsev, and falls short of replicating the heroic run by then 18-year-old qualifier Emma Raducanu to the women’s singles US Open title in 2021, 19-year-old Tien can take comfort in the fact that he’s already hit a milestone.
The Californian is the youngest man to reach the AO fourth round since Rafael Nadal in 2005 and by backing up his five-set marathon win over fifth seed and AO 2024 finalist Daniil Medvedev in the second round with a straight-sets romp past Corentin Moutet on Saturday, is the youngest American men’s singles player to reach the last 16 at a major since Andy Roddick’s 2001 US Open run.
“This exceeded my expectations, what I was hoping for coming into this week,” he beamed.
“To be in the second week is amazing.”
In the world of tennis, the second week of a Grand Slam tournament always brings about some surprises and unexpected storylines. One such storyline that often emerges is the success of qualifiers and lucky losers who make a deep run in the tournament. These players may have had to fight their way through the qualifying rounds just to make it into the main draw, or they may have lost in the early rounds only to receive a second chance as a lucky loser. Regardless of how they got there, these players often prove to be tough competitors and can cause upsets against higher-ranked opponents.
From the excitement of watching a qualifier upset a top seed to the resilience of a lucky loser who refuses to give up, these second week appearances always add an extra layer of drama to the tournament. Fans love to root for the underdog and see them defy the odds to make a name for themselves on the big stage.
So as the second week of the tournament unfolds, keep an eye out for those qualifiers and lucky losers who are making the most of their opportunity and showing the world what they are capable of. Their inspiring performances remind us that anything is possible in the world of tennis, and that sometimes the biggest surprises come from the unlikeliest of sources.

Eva Lys is first ‘lucky loser’ to get to Australian Open fourth round
MELBOURNE, Australia — Less than a week ago, Germany’s Eva Lys was planning her flight out of Melbourne, having fallen at the final hurdle of qualifying for the Australian Open main draw, losing to local Destanee Aiava in the third and final round.
The 23-year-old world No. 128 was set to depart Melbourne with a nice pay packet; those who win through to the final round of qualifying take home AU$72,000 (US$44,500), enough to cover their travel and accommodation Down Under, and set themselves up for their next few tournaments.
But in a twist of fate, Lys will now walk away from the Australian Open with a “life-changing” amount of money, at least AU$420,000 (US$260,000) and nearly six times her qualifying pay packet, after she won through to the fourth round on Saturday in what is now easily her best return at a major.
How? Lys never got on the flight out of Australia. She stuck around in Melbourne until Tuesday, the last of three days of first-round action, on the off chance she’d become what’s called a “lucky loser” — a ticket into the main draw when someone withdraws before their first match, usually due to injury or illness.
Things were looking grim until she got a phone call Tuesday afternoon. Anna Kalinskaya, the 13th seed, had withdrawn from the tournament with a virus.
“I found out about Anna ten minutes before the match, so I didn’t have time to get nervous,” Lys said after her first-round win over Kimberley Birrell, 6-2, 6-2.
The wins just kept coming. Lys took down Varvara Gracheva in the second round in three hard-fought sets.
“I was always telling myself in the third set, ‘Listen, you could have been at home by now, but you’re on court. Try enjoying it, try making the best out of it,’” she said following that triumph.
And on Saturday, Lys beat Jacqueline Cristian in the third round, in doing so becoming the first lucky loser to advance this far at the Australian Open, and just the sixth lucky loser to make the Round of 16 at a major in the Open Era, along with Elina Avanesyan (2023 French Open), Maria Jose Gaidano (1993 US Open), Nicole Muns-Jagerman (1988 French Open), Dana Gilbert (1982 French Open), and Hana Strachonova (1980 French Open).
“Obviously I’m very, very happy to be making it to the second week, I feel like the second week was always such a dream for me,” Lys said after her third-round win. “It definitely doesn’t feel real for me right now. I don’t know when the realization will kick in. It’s definitely just an amazing situation to be in, especially knowing that I was lucky loser.”
Lys reflected on her week, describing how whirlwind it had been.
“I found a picture of me sleeping [at Melbourne Park] the day I got in [to the main draw]. I was just trying to spend the time at the venue, trying to do something because I didn’t really know what to do with my time. I was just preparing for my flight the next day,” she said.
“It’s definitely an insane story, also for me, how it happened, how fast it happened. It’s been just a couple of days. Those days have totally changed my life. So definitely really thankful.”
Lys will need to prepare to take on the No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek in the fourth round on Monday, but it’s not just her match that will require some mental energy; she admitted she had rebooked her flight out of Australia for before the start of the Round of 16 match, and she’ll have to move it again.
“We actually changed the flight to [Sunday],” she laughed. “Right now, I think after the press conference we’re going to go and try to change it a little bit further. It’s actually really funny. We just picked a date. We’re like, okay, Sunday is six days away. We’re just going to pick Sunday.”
If Lys can somehow upset Swiatek on Monday, she’ll pocket an even bigger paycheck of AU$665,000 (US$411,700), while the winners of the 2025 Australian Open will take home AU$3,500,000 (US$2,166,000).
Eva Lys Makes History as First ‘Lucky Loser’ to Reach Australian Open Fourth RoundIn a stunning turn of events at the Australian Open, unseeded player Eva Lys has become the first ‘lucky loser’ to advance to the fourth round of the prestigious tournament. Lys, who initially lost in the final round of qualifying, was given a second chance to compete after a withdrawal from the main draw.
Despite facing tough opponents in her path to the fourth round, Lys has shown incredible determination and skill on the court. Her impressive performances have captured the attention of fans and fellow players alike, solidifying her status as a rising star in the tennis world.
As Lys continues her remarkable run at the Australian Open, tennis enthusiasts around the globe are eagerly awaiting to see if she can defy the odds once again and make a deep run in the tournament. Stay tuned for updates on Eva Lys’ inspiring journey at the Australian Open.

Rudy Giuliani May Lose His Yankees World Series Rings Instead of Giving Them to His Loser Son
I bought my twin sons their first Texas Rangers hats when they were just under two years old. It was a huge deal. I’d been the lone Texas Rangers fan in my life up until that point. With my boys in those hats, I had people I could share my love, frustration, disappointment, and excitement with. The Texas Rangers were losers for most of my life and I stuck with them regardless. Then, in a turn that was nothing short of miraculous, the Rangers won their first World Series in 2023.
I have purchased and been gifted an absurd amount of World Series merchandise over the last year and change. A lot of it, like a couple of hats, will be worn until they fall apart (and then some). Others are being saved for my kids should they want them when they’re older. One such piece is a replica World Series ring. The actual ring my Rangers were given costs around $10,000. Mine was significantly cheaper. Regardless, I’m excited to give that hunk of silver and cubic zirconium to my boys one day, and I will be allowed to because I haven’t defamed anyone to the tune of $148 million.
Enter Rudy Giuliani, who faced a defamation suit from two former Georgia election workers. To say the former mayor has had a significant fall from grace would be an overstatement, because he has always sucked. Still, the fact that he seemingly has no spot in Trump’s new administration, when white supremacist tattoos and rape allegations won’t sink some of the other candidates, speaks volumes about Giuliani’s toxicity. Giuliani is crumbling, and now he’s trying to hold onto his past.
Giuliani was the Mayor of NYC when the Yankees won the World Series four times in five years. Then-owner George Steinbrenner wanted to gift Giuliani four rings to commemorate his time as mayor. Rudy ended up paying for them, claiming he wanted to gift them to his failed politician son Andrew. Thanks to the defamation suit, ole Rudy may have to give up his precious rings instead of bequeathing them to his yuppy larva.
This is already a satisfying story. Giuliani deserves all of this punishment and more. But the added element of it being the Yankees makes it even better. We don’t need to get too much into the quotes, because no one is interested in Giuliani’s lament, but one did stick out to me. It seems Rudy hasn’t worn the rings in twenty years. The reason why is a classic example of a “Yankees” fan. “I stopped wearing them after the Yankees stopped winning because it was no longer working,” he explained at some point. “And then I wasn’t using them anymore.” In addition, Andrew hasn’t worn one since 2009, the last time the Bronx Bombers won the World Series. That sounds like a lack of commitment to me!
The Yankees appeared in the most recent World Series and the amount of brand spanking new Yankees hats in NYC and NJ popped up overnight. The area is not new to that kind of fairweather fandom, but it gets dialed up to 11 when the Yankees are in the playoffs. However, the pinstriped team lost this year (badly) and the hats disappeared just as quickly. As someone who has worn Rangers hats into the ground, including during a span where we lost two consecutive World Series, I take that kind of shoddy support personally!
I was already feeling a kind of smug schadenfreude from this story, but seeing Rudy pull a rich man’s version of “I stopped wearing the hat when they lost” makes it even sweeter. He and his (loser) son don’t deserve memorabilia, a place in Yankees history, or even seats in the bleachers. They deserve the public humiliation and fall from grace that we are currently witnessing (much like the 2024 Yankees and, to be fair, the 2024 Rangers. But I haven’t taken my hat off once).
Former New York City Mayor and personal attorney to former President Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, may soon find himself without his cherished Yankees World Series rings. Instead of passing them down to his son, Andrew Giuliani, who recently announced his bid for Governor of New York, Rudy may be forced to surrender the rings due to his legal troubles.Rudy Giuliani has been embroiled in various legal battles, including his involvement in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. Additionally, he is facing a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems for spreading false claims about election fraud.
Given his mounting legal woes, it is possible that Rudy Giuliani may be forced to forfeit his Yankees World Series rings as part of a settlement or court order. This would be a devastating blow to the former mayor, who has long been a fervent supporter of the Yankees and proudly displayed his championship rings.
As for Andrew Giuliani, the prospect of not inheriting his father’s prized possessions may serve as a harsh reminder of the consequences of Rudy’s actions. It remains to be seen how this potential turn of events will impact the younger Giuliani’s political aspirations.
In the meantime, Rudy Giuliani’s future remains uncertain, and the fate of his Yankees World Series rings hangs in the balance. It is a stark reminder that even the most cherished possessions can be lost in the face of legal troubles.

Host of the “Kennedy Saves The World” podcast Kennedy joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to give her take on why Republican lawmakers in the House should vote against the short-term spending bill that would fund the federal government through March 14.
“I would love for the government to shut down. I mean, that’s the paralysis is the best thing. So hopefully DOGE will come in. And I hope it makes a lot of people nervous. I hope they do what they say they’re going to do. I think it’s great that they have billionaires who don’t care and are not beholden to anyone. The federal government needs Elon more than he needs them. He knows it and they know it. Elizabeth Warren could shut up like, well, we don’t know if there’s a conflict of interest.”
Jimmy and Kennedy also share their thoughts on New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez losing out on her bid to be the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee. Listen to the podcast to hear what else they talked about!

Kennedy: Speaker Johnson Better Realize That Trump’s Not Going To Back A LoserIn a recent interview, former President John F. Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Kennedy Schlossberg, issued a warning to Speaker of the House Nancy Johnson: Donald Trump is not going to back a loser in the upcoming election.
Schlossberg, a prominent Democratic activist and outspoken critic of the Trump administration, urged Speaker Johnson to take note of Trump’s history of abandoning political allies who he deems to be on the losing side. He pointed to examples such as former Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, who were both publicly criticized and eventually ousted by Trump after falling out of favor.
Schlossberg emphasized that Trump’s loyalty is conditional and only extends to those who he perceives as being able to deliver wins for him. As the midterms approach and the race for control of Congress heats up, Speaker Johnson must be wary of aligning herself too closely with Trump if she wants to maintain his support.
The message from Kennedy is clear: Speaker Johnson better realize that Trump’s not going to back a loser. It’s a warning that all politicians, regardless of party affiliation, would do well to heed in the tumultuous political landscape of today.
