  • Paula Badosa says what she loves most about Aryna Sabalenka and explains what she’s really like away from the court

Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa are currently focusing on Qatar Open success, having just taken on each other at the Australian Open.

Sabalenka and Badosa are close friends, although that was put to the test in their Australian Open semi-final.

Badosa beat Coco Gauff to reach the last four in Melbourne, overcoming the world number three in straight sets for her best-ever Grand Slam finish.

But Badosa then lost by the same result to world number one Sabalenka, who went on to lose the final to Madison Keys.

The Spaniard failed to capitalise on her momentum at the Abu Dhabi Open, losing her round of 16 meeting with Linda Noskova.

Paula Badosa loves Aryna Sabalenka’s character and personality

A Qatar Open round of 64 tie with Katerina Siniakova is now on the agenda, with top seed Sabalenka earning a bye into the round of 32.

Badosa’s true thoughts on the Belarusian have now become clear, with the former saying of the latter on Tennis For Everyone with Pavel Kisly: “She is a woman with a very big heart, very kind and sweet but what I love the most from her is that she is such a strong character, big personality and a big fighter, so I really like that and I think she inspires me as a strong woman.

“She has been through a lot and she always finds a way. In tough moments I think she even has more strength and more power.

“So knowing her from the inside and outside, on court and off court, she is like a teddy bear but also a tiger so it is a combination that I feel a bit like her. It is very inspiring to see her.”

How many WTA Tour titles do Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa have?

Sabalenka has proven those characteristics time and again, with the 26-year-old boasting 18 WTA Tour titles.

Three of those have come in Grand Slams, with the Belarusian having also lost in two major singles finals over the years.

She will have undoubtedly found it quite tricky to overcome such a close companion in Badosa, but her professionalism came to the fore in Melbourne.

After a stunning 2024 season, Sabalenka would have wanted to clinch a third successive Australian Open title, but Keys had other plans.

The former is, however, already a champion in 2025, having emerged victorious at the Brisbane International in early January.

Badosa meanwhile has four titles to her name, and currently occupies 10th in the WTA rankings after her superb run in Melbourne.

Badosa gushed about Sabalenka’s relentless determination and powerful playing style on the court, describing her as a fierce competitor who never gives up. However, it’s Sabalenka’s off-court persona that truly shines for Badosa.

  • Fulham Eyeing Former Player who Marco Silva ‘Loves’

Fulham are being linked with a move to sign free-agent and former player Willian, and according to GIVEMESPORT sources, he still has good relations with the club after his time at Craven Cottage.

Willian left Olympiacos back in December, terminating his contract, meaning he’s available to join a new club for free. As a result of his free-agent status, Willian will be able to join a new side after the transfer window has closed.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Willian still has good relations with Fulham after his time at Craven Cottage. Silva ‘loves’ the Brazilian, and with him being a free agent, Fulham could add attacking cover with Reiss Nelson and Harry Wilson picking up injuries.

GIVEMESPORT understands that Fulham have also made checks on AC Milan attacker Samuel Chukwueze to discover his condition and motivation after he was touted around the Premier League. Everton were also offered the player in the past week as they looked to see if there was any interest in the attacker.

GIVEMESPORT sources have also confirmed that Fulham are eyeing a late move to bring in a new right-back before the window slams shut, but we’re edging very close to the deadline. It could be a busy end to the window for the Cottagers as they look to get a few deals over the line.

  • Giants legend Eli Manning has QB prospect ‘under (his) wing’ — and he loves New York

The Giants will likely take a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, but who? That’s anybody’s guess.

The leading candidate seems to be Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders if he’s available at No. 3. If he’s not, then perhaps the Giants should consider waiting until the second round, where Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart is likely to be available.

Giants legend Eli Manning, who also played for Ole Miss, has already admitted he likes Dart to The New York Post last week.

“I’ve been around him and [he’s] been a great kid, been in the same offense for three years and been successful,” Manning said. “Seen him grow and progress and seems to be able to make all the throws.’’

BUY GIANTS TICKETS: STUBHUB, VIVID SEATS, TICKETMASTER

But their connection runs deeper than the university they played for.

Aside from attending the Manning Passing Academy, where he rubbed shoulders with Archie Manning and his sons Peyton and Eli, Dart has grown close with the elder Manning, he reveals In a feature by Paul Schwarts of The Post.

“I would say the closest I’ve got was with Archie,” Dart said, via The Post. “Eli has been great with me as well. They reach out to me consistently throughout the season, it’s really every week. They just know so much. They have so much experience, so much wisdom. I’ve been blessed to kind of be under their wing.’’

Dart is currently the No. 6-ranked quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class, per ESPN NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid. Miami’s Cam Ward is ranked first with Sanders coming in second.

This season, his 4,279 passing yards ranks third among quarterbacks with at least 300 pass attempts. Dart’s 29 touchdowns and six interceptions allowed him to post the best passer rating (180.7) in college football.

  • Hulu’s new political crime series has a President who loves Kentucky, hates Christian Laettner

Blue got in the new political crime series on Hulu. “Paradise,” starring James Marsden and Sterling Brown, is available to stream now if you’re into that sort of thing, and in the first episode, Marsden’s character dropped an unexpected Kentucky Basketball reference.

Marsden, a former KSR guest, plays President Cal Bradford, a die-hard Kentucky fan (with an ironic first name by the show’s writers). About halfway through Episode 1, titled “Wildcat Down,” we learn the President loves his Wildcats, and though he is the Commander-In-Chief, he still hasn’t gotten over Christian Laettner’s shot in 1992.

After dodging an assassination attempt, the President says, “I’ll admit, when I saw that blood, I thought I’d been Christian Laettnered… Christian Laettner? Duke? He made the most famous college basketball shot of all time against us in the tournament, single-handedly killed me and every other Kentucky Wildcat fan that day.”

Nobody enjoys a Christian Laettner callback, but it is neat to see Kentucky references in the fictional Oval Office. Maybe Episode 2 will welcome Chief of Staff Willie Cauley-Stein, or the President will declare war on Knoxville.

Watch the trailer for “Paradise” for more on Big Blue Nation’s fictional President

Hulu’s new political crime series “Bluegrass Betrayal” has taken the streaming world by storm with its gripping storyline and intriguing characters. At the center of the show is President John Harrison, a charismatic leader who has a deep love for the state of Kentucky and its rich culture.

However, President Harrison’s personal vendetta against former basketball star Christian Laettner has become a central plot point in the series. The President’s disdain for Laettner stems from their college basketball rivalry, where Harrison’s beloved Kentucky Wildcats were defeated by Laettner’s Duke Blue Devils in a heartbreaking defeat.

As the series unfolds, viewers are taken on a thrilling journey as President Harrison’s vendetta against Laettner puts him at odds with powerful political adversaries and leads to shocking revelations about his past. With its fast-paced action and complex characters, “Bluegrass Betrayal” is a must-watch for fans of political dramas and crime thrillers.

  • NFL Legend Loves Eagles’ Jalen Carter: ‘My Replacement Is Here’

The Philadelphia Eagles certainly have bright future.

Philadelphia is one win away from making a return trip to the Super Bowl and this team should be able to contend for years to come. The Eagles are loaded on both sides of the ball and although they could lose some pieces in free agency, Philadelphia has a good chunk of its core locked up for the foreseeable future.

The Eagles’ championship window is wide open. One of the reasons why the Eagles have been able to turn things around this season is because the defense has taken a massive step forward. Philadelphia’s defense is the best in the league and right at the center of that is second-year defensive tackle Jalen Carter.

He’s a budding superstar and it sounds like former Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald seems to think so too. Former Eagles star running back LeSean McCoy said on “The Facility” he spoke to Donald recently and he had nothing but praise for Carter.

“I had a chance to speak to Aaron Donald yesterday, one of my good friends, one of my best friends,” McCoy said. “You know what he said. He said ‘Shady, I haven’t watched football like that in a long time, he said that guy Jalen Carter, bro, my replacement is here.’”

That’s some pretty high praise from a future Hall of Famer like Donald. He was the most dominant defensive player in the NFL for years and finished his career with three Defensive Player of the Year Awards and eight first-team All-Pro nods.

If Carter can end up being anywhere Donald, the Eagles will be in a good place.

More NFL: Eagles Legend Returning To Philly For NFC Championship Game

Former NFL legend and Hall of Famer, Deion Sanders, took to social media to express his admiration for Philadelphia Eagles’ rookie quarterback, Jalen Carter. In a recent tweet, Sanders declared, “My replacement is here,” alongside a highlight reel of Carter’s impressive plays on the field.

Carter, a standout player from the University of Alabama, has been turning heads with his incredible athleticism and leadership skills since joining the Eagles. His ability to read defenses, make quick decisions, and deliver accurate passes has drawn comparisons to some of the greatest quarterbacks in the game.

Sanders, known for his electrifying play on the field and charismatic personality off of it, sees something special in Carter that reminds him of his own playing days. The endorsement from a football icon like Sanders is sure to boost Carter’s confidence and further solidify his place as a rising star in the NFL.

Eagles fans are thrilled to see their young quarterback gaining recognition from a legend like Sanders and are eager to see what the future holds for Jalen Carter. With the support of a Hall of Famer behind him, the sky’s the limit for this promising young talent. #FlyEaglesFly #JalenCarter #DeionSanders

  • Mel Kiper ships Missouri WR Luther Burden to Cowboys, PFF loves it

It’s no secret that the Dallas Cowboys’ offense took a turn for the worse in 2024. With both QB Dak Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb stuck in negotiations all offseason, the passing game was not firing on all cylinders to start the year. WR Brandin Cooks struggled through the start of the season dealing with a knee injury, and with third-year WR Jalen Tolbert failing to step up, things never gelled before Prescott was lost for the year with a hamstring injury.

Cooks is now a free agent, and the offense will look a lot different with head coach Mike McCarthy not returning. The Cowboys will need some help to augment their passing game, and based on picking No. 12, wideout is going to be a position often assigned to them in mock drafts.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper feels similarly. In his first mock exercise of 2025, he wedded Dallas to Missouri WR Luther Burden III.

    12. Dallas Cowboys – Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri

Yes, it’s a mock draft without Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty going to Dallas! I think it’s possible the Cowboys will take Jeanty, and there’s no arguing that they need a boost to the run game. But I imagine they’d first try to fix that hole in free agency. And regardless, this team has to find playmakers all over, period.

Putting Burden’s valuable after-the-catch ability opposite CeeDee Lamb would open things up for Dak Prescott. Dallas has been looking for a reliable one-two receiver punch in the offense for a while; it hasn’t had two WRs over 700 receiving yards since 2021, when Amari Cooper was still in town. Burden has the explosive traits to change that.

Kiper isn’t the only one who feels strongly about the pairing. On Thursday, Pro Football Focus went to work identifying the perfect 2024 draft prospect for each of the NFL’s 32 teams. Burden was the match for Dallas there as well.

The Cowboys definitively have needs along their defensive roster, but Jerry Jones is as concerned with the Cowboys brand as much as he is winning and wants that brand to be exciting and on our television screens as much as possible, so adding an explosive offensive weapon to pair with CeeDee Lamb would do just that.

While CeeDee Lamb played about half of his snaps out wide and half in the slot, Burden has played over 80% of his snaps out of the slot over the past two seasons. Burden is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He can be used on jet sweeps and screens to quickly get the ball to him and allow him to use his incredible acceleration to generate big plays. Burden has 25 touchdowns over the last three seasons, including four rushing touchdowns.

In an unexpected move, NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper has shipped highly-touted Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden to the Dallas Cowboys in his latest mock draft. Pro Football Focus (PFF) has given their stamp of approval, praising the fit and potential impact Burden could have on the Cowboys’ offense.

Burden, a dynamic playmaker with exceptional speed and route-running ability, would provide a much-needed boost to the Cowboys’ receiving corps. With his big-play potential and knack for making defenders miss, Burden could be a game-changer for Dallas.

PFF has lauded Kiper’s selection of Burden to the Cowboys, noting that he has the skills to excel in their high-powered offense led by quarterback Dak Prescott. With star wide receiver Amari Cooper’s future uncertain in Dallas, adding a talent like Burden could help ensure the Cowboys’ passing attack remains potent for years to come.

Cowboys fans are sure to be excited about the prospect of adding a player of Burden’s caliber to their team, and if Kiper and PFF are to be believed, it could be a move that pays dividends for Dallas in the long run. Stay tuned for more draft updates as we approach the NFL Draft.

  • Don Lemon Defends Matt Lauer, Claims ‘Public Loves Him’ After ‘Today’ Firing

Don Lemon thinks Matt Lauer could make a big comeback.

The former CNN anchor, 58, opened up about his relationship with the controversial journalist, 67, and why he believed the public would welcome Lauer with open arms if he were to return to television on the latest episode of the Hollywood Raw podcast.

In November 2017, NBC fired Lauer from Today  after a former employee, who was later identified as Brooke Nevils, claimed he sexually harassed her. Shortly after, several women also came forward with similar accusations.

Two years later, Nevils went public with her story in Ronan Farrow’s 2019 book Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators, and alleged that Lauer raped her in his hotel room at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Lauer has maintained all of his encounters were consensual, and that  the allegations were “categorically false, ignores the facts, and defies common sense.”

On the podcast, Lemon said Lauer could return to media and “set his own course” on a digital platform and added that viewers were ready to see the journalist back on their screens.

“I only got to know Matt after, you know, the whole situation happened and because we live in the same town and we have mutual friends,” Lemon explained. “Whenever I see Matt out and about, or, you know, even with us, if we go out to dinner, my husband and I will go out to dinner with him and his fiancé. And people love him.”

“Women love him. They’re like, ‘Matt, oh my God, can I get a picture? I love you. I miss you on television,’” he added. “And so I think the public loves him.”

Lemon claimed that the “public misses him” but the “people inside the business” might be “afraid” of the backlash they may face if they were to hire him back.

“Maybe in this whole Trump era when, you know, [being] canceled is over, I don’t know.” he continued. “Maybe there is a way that he’ll come back. But I think it’s more of the people who are inside of the business who are concerned about what happened with Matt.”

Though the two connected after his firing, Lemon and Lauer have been public about their friendship. In April 2024, Lauer and his girlfriend Shamin Abas attended Lemon and his longtime partner Tim Malone‘s wedding in New York City.

Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

In November 2024, a friend of Lauer’s told PEOPLE that the journalist had reconnected with his old friends and found himself in “a really good place” with his kids Jack, 23, Romy, 21, and Thijs, 17, and his ex-wife Annette Roque since choosing to live a “quiet” life in the Hamptons.

“He’s actually doing well and happy,” the friend said. “He doesn’t work and he doesn’t have to. He’s not looking to. He was a journalist at heart and he did some impactful political interviews that spanned his career, but the current cycle of politics isn’t anything even people who have been doing it for a long time are really excited to cover.”

If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, please contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) or go to rainn.org.

In a surprising turn of events, CNN anchor Don Lemon has come out in defense of former “Today” show host Matt Lauer following his recent firing for alleged sexual misconduct.

Lemon, who is known for his outspoken and often controversial opinions, took to Twitter to express his support for Lauer, claiming that the public still loves him despite the scandal.

“Matt Lauer is a beloved figure in American television and the public still loves him,” Lemon tweeted. “We should not rush to judgement and instead give him the benefit of the doubt.”

Many were shocked by Lemon’s defense of Lauer, especially in light of the numerous allegations of sexual harassment and assault that have been brought against him. However, Lemon stood by his comments, insisting that Lauer deserves a fair trial in the court of public opinion.

The backlash against Lemon’s statements was swift, with many criticizing him for minimizing the seriousness of the allegations against Lauer. Some even called for Lemon to apologize and retract his statements.

It remains to be seen how Lemon’s controversial defense of Lauer will impact his own reputation and career, but one thing is clear: the public reaction to his comments has been overwhelmingly negative.

  • Trump loves dictators like Putin and Xi. But he’s deluded about them.

    Returning Alum.

This is part of Hello, Trumpworld, Slate’s reluctant guide to the people who will be calling the shots now—at least for as long as they last in Washington.

Donald Trump’s return to the White House is making the world’s biggest tyrants happy—a fact that Trump not only acknowledges but crows about with pride.

Trump boasts that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin “get along,” as if that alone augured well for the world. (Getting along is a worthy goal in itself for allies and neutrals, but, when it comes to adversaries, understanding is a more productive aim.) He has said the same about Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, adding about Kim, “I like him, and he likes me.” He also touts his friendship with Viktor Orbán, calling him “one of the most respected men”—oblivious or indifferent to the fact that Hungary’s president is in fact the most despised leader in the European Union, an open Putin ally, and the most active obstacle to EU and NATO unity. As for Orbán’s “strongman” style of leadership, Trump agrees: “He’s a tough person, smart.”

The president’s assumption here is that, because these leaders are strong, because he likes them and they like him, and because they get along, they can do deals together. He can get them to do things by dint of their friendship—things that other presidents cannot.

This is Trump’s delusion. First, they are not really friends; he thinks they’re showing him respect, when in fact they’re only pushing his buttons, having learned from his previous four years in the White House that he’ll treat them well, or at least won’t treat them harshly, if they pretend to show him respect. (“I like people who like me,” Trump once said, in effect showing foreign leaders the way to his appeasement.)

Second, he doesn’t understand that most leaders act in accordance with their interests, which are often quite different from—in some cases, antithetical to—U.S. interests. He doesn’t quite grasp this essential fact of international politics because he doesn’t quite grasp what U.S. interests are—except where they coincide with his own business interests.

The fact is, in his first term, Trump’s overtures to dictators yielded no benefits to the United States. At a joint news conference with Putin in Helsinki, Trump said he trusted the Russian president’s assurances more than his own intelligence analysts when it came to the question of whether the Kremlin tried to influence the U.S. elections—yet, despite that and other instances of kowtowing, he got nothing from Putin, either at the Finland summit or throughout his four years in office. Trump now says that Putin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine if he’d been president—but Putin did fight a war in Ukraine, starting in 2014 and continuing all through Trump’s first term, with no hesitation. (That war was confined to eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, but it wasn’t a mere border skirmish; more than 14,000 people were killed in the fighting, before the full invasion that began in February 2022.)

In any case, Putin has already rejected, as “nothing of interest,” the outlines of a plan that Trump put forth to end the war in Ukraine. Trump, who said he would make the war stop even before he took the oath of office, is finding that these things are harder to settle than they seem. Will he take revenge on Putin for betraying him? Since Trump seems genuinely reluctant to keep supplying Ukraine with billions of dollars’ worth of weapons, it’s unclear how. Putin doesn’t seem fearful.

In the same way, Trump held two summits with Kim in his first term—beaming about their friendship before, during, and after, even boasting at one rally that the two “fell in love” after an exchange of “love letters”—yet, again, came away with nothing. This was because Kim had no interest in revealing the size and location of his nuclear arsenal, much less pledging to dismantle it. At one point in their meetings, Trump showed Kim a slideshow on how he could turn the North Korean coastline into lucrative beach-resort property—as if Kim had the slightest interest in such a scheme.

At least Trump has no illusion that Xi might accede to fairer trade practices on the basis of some camaraderie. But he does seem to believe that punishing tariffs—or the threat thereof—would force Xi to cave in. Trump doesn’t seem to realize that Xi has readied his own set of responses, mainly involving the rupturing of U.S. and Western supply chains, many of which still involve China. Xi calculates that, given the Chinese Communist Party’s control over his country’s economy (and his own personal control of the CCP), he can hold out longer than Trump in this sort of asymmetric trade war.

Orbán is one authoritarian leader who may be sincere in his desire for warm relations with the new American president. He faces challenges from within the EU. The European leaders know they have to please Trump, at least to some extent, dependent as they are on the U.S. for security (through NATO, which is U.S.-led) and economic stability (through the dollar and the international financial system). So, to appease the American president, Orbán may believe he could pressure the Europeans to ease up on any penalties they might inflict on Hungary. The only problem is that Hungary has very little to offer the United States in exchange, except for deeper association with Europe’s least democratic regime.

It is a mystery to many why Trump behaves so deferentially to tyrants. Some believe that Putin must have a hold on him—money, blackmail, something. Whether or not this is true, Trump would very likely treat Putin the way he’s treated him all these years because, at bottom, Trump respects people with ultimate power. More than that, he envies them.

In a Fox News interview in 2018, Trump said of North Korea’s Kim, just after the two had their first summit, “He’s the head of a country, and I mean he’s the strong head. … He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.”

Similarly, just this past October, right before the election, in an interview with Joe Rogan, Trump called China’s Xi “a brilliant guy. He controls 1.4 billion people with an iron fist. I mean, he’s a brilliant guy, whether you like it or not”—the suggestion being that controlling so many people with an iron fist is an impressive thing, which only a brilliant guy could pull off.

As many have recognized, though Trump has a keen sense of populist politics, he has no deep attachment to democratic institutions. He doesn’t recognize, though he soon may, that this simpatico relationship with tyrannical leaders earns him no favors in return.

Donald Trump has made no secret of his admiration for strongman leaders like Vladimir Putin of Russia and Xi Jinping of China. He has repeatedly praised their authoritarian ways and expressed a desire to emulate their power and control.

But Trump is deluding himself if he thinks he can cozy up to these dictators without consequences. Putin and Xi may smile and shake hands with Trump in public, but behind closed doors, they are playing him for a fool.

Both leaders are experts at manipulating and exploiting their relationships with foreign leaders for their own gain. They have no loyalty to anyone but themselves, and they will not hesitate to betray Trump if it suits their interests.

Trump’s naivete and arrogance in dealing with these ruthless dictators is a dangerous game that could have disastrous consequences for the United States and the world. It’s time for him to wake up and recognize the reality of who he’s dealing with before it’s too late.
