Matheus Cunha quickly became a key player for Wolverhampton Wanderers, showcasing his versatility across the attacking line. Whether playing as an attacking midfielder, supporting striker, or center-forward, the Brazilian adapted effortlessly to each role.

His standout performances have attracted interest from top clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, with Fichajes reporting that they are keeping tabs on him. Despite his strong form at Wolves, there are rumors suggesting the club could be willing to sell him for over €70 million.

In other news, Sky Sports News reports that Nottingham Forest is preparing a club-record offer for Cunha, with a bid of around £60 million, possibly convincing Wolves to let him go.

MailSport reports that Manchester United are interested in Cunha, but Wolves are said to want around £70 million for a potential sale.

Meanwhile, Give Me Sport reported, citing sources, that Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in Cunha, but Arsenal are reportedly leading the race. It has been reported that Cunha prefers to join Arsenal and be part of their title challenge at the Emirates.

The forward is in the final two-and-a-half years of his £60,000-per-week contract but has opted not to sign an improved deal, leaving Wolves in a difficult position. This could give Arsenal an opportunity to make a move late in the transfer window.

Give Me Sport also reported, citing sources, that Wolves have stated they will not sell Cunha mid-season, as his departure could threaten their hopes of avoiding relegation to the Championship.

Manchester United are facing stiff competition in their pursuit of Wolves star Ruben Neves, with reports suggesting they will need to pay a hefty £70 million to secure his services.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Portuguese midfielder, who has been a key player for Wolves in recent seasons. However, Nottingham Forest and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in Neves, adding to the competition for his signature.

Neves has impressed with his performances in the Premier League and has caught the eye of several top clubs across Europe. With his contract at Wolves set to expire in 2023, the Midlands club may be willing to cash in on him this summer.

Manchester United are in need of reinforcements in midfield, and Neves could be the perfect addition to their squad. However, they will need to meet Wolves’ £70 million asking price if they want to secure his services.

It remains to be seen whether United will be willing to meet Wolves’ valuation for Neves, but with competition from other clubs, they may need to act quickly if they want to bring him to Old Trafford. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing transfer saga.

  • Transfer news LIVE! Tel wants Man Utd after snubbing Spurs, Garnacho latest, Villa eye Rashford, Chelsea chase Ferguson

‘Watkins is our striker’ – Emery reacts to Villa’s evening of transfer speculation

Arsenal target Ollie Watkins is “happy to stay” at Aston Villa after Jhon Duran was sold to Saudi club Al-Nassr in a £64m deal before the transfer deadline.

The Gunners were preparing a spectacular second bid the England international after an an opening offer was rejected, with Arsenal desperate to sign a striker before Monday’s deadline. But Duran’s move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr may end Arsenal’s hopes as Aston Villa are unlikely to sell both strikers this month.

Meanwhile, Mathys Tel has sent Premier League clubs into a frenzy but telling Bayern Munich that he wants to leave. Tottenham have agreed a £50m deal but Manchester United believe they hold an advantage that could prove decisive in the race with Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs – who Tel is reported to have rejected.

That may depend on selling Alejandro Garnacho, however, with United setting Chelsea a new price for the 20-year-old Argentina winger. Marcus Rashford is also searching for a move away from Old Trafford, but only one club looks like a possible option this January.

Rodri’s injury highlights Man City and Arsenal’s key difference in pursuit of glory

It isn’t often Pep Guardiola wishes he had suffered defeat. But as he looks back four months, to what now looks the moment Manchester City’s era of dominance came to an abrupt end, he said: “I would have preferred to lose that game and have Rodri all season, absolutely.”

Guardiola didn’t lose the game in question. John Stones’ 98th-minute equaliser against Arsenal in September seemed colossal in the context of the title race. Not now: or only in the way points have tended to escape Arsenal’s grasp. It was the second of seven games this season they have drawn after leading, despite a heroic defensive display in the second half.

For City, however, the seismic setback had nothing to do with the scoreline. Penalty shootouts aside, they lost a lone game in which Rodri appeared last season: the FA Cup final. They have lost 10 this season: none in the first month after the Spaniard was sidelined, then in a flurry.

Tel wants Man Utd loan move

The 19-year-old Bayern Munich forward is a wanted man this winter, but he has rejected a £50m transfer to Tottenham and reports say he is keen on Old Trafford as a short-term destination.

Bayern would like to keep Tel, but he wants to depart for more playing time after a fading role under Vincent Kompany this season.

“Mathys can imagine a move away. We need to come to terms with the facts,” said Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl this week.

“Whether it’s a loan or a sale, we’ll see. It needs to be right for all parties. Will we do it? Our squad is very well set up.”

Chelsea sign England star Keira Walsh from Barcelona

Chelsea have signed England midfielder Keira Walsh from Barcelona on a four-and-a-half-year deal, the Women’s Super League club said on Friday, with the 27-year-old keen to move closer to her family.

The move marks a return to English football for Walsh after two-and-a-half years with the Spanish club having joined Barcelona from Manchester City in Sept. 2022 for a then world record fee in women’s soccer of 400,000 pounds ($495,920.00).

“I’ll be honest, I didn’t realise how difficult it would be to be away from my family and friends when I went abroad,” Walsh said on Chelsea’s official website.

“It’s no secret that I wanted to come and wanted to play closer to my friends and family. Just having my family back in the stands, it’s something I’ve just wanted for a long time.”

Walsh had been with City since 2014, where she had won one WSL title and three FA Cups, and at Barcelona won eight trophies at Barcelona including two Champions League titles and two Spanish league wins.

The midfielder has made 80 appearances for England, winning Euro 2022 and a runner-up at the World Cup in 2023 and joins a Chelsea team who have a seven-point lead over Manchester United in the WSL, and their next game is at Aston Villa on Sunday.

The signing comes just days after Chelsea made Naomi Girma the first female million-dollar player, signing the United States defender to a for a world-record transfer fee reported by British media to be in the region of 900,000 pounds.

Spurs loan Lankshear to West Brom

Will Lankshear has joined West Brom on loan from Tottenham until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old striker has made six first-team appearances for Spurs this term, scoring against Galatasaray in their Europa League meeting in November.

Lankshear will join up with West Brom on Monday, ahead of next Saturday’s Championship meeting with Sheffield Wednesday.

He told wba.co.uk: “I am delighted to join this great club. I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and I can’t wait to play in front of all the fans.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to compete for game time and, hopefully, score goals that can help the club push on to get promoted during my time here.

“Tony Mowbray is a manager who everyone says only good things about and I’m keen to learn as much from him as I can over the next few months.”

Ruben Amorim meanwhile has heaped praise on Alejandro Garnacho for the way he has kicked on and “changed in everything” since the disappointment of being left out of the Manchester derby.

It is seven weeks since the Argentina international and fellow academy graduate Marcus Rashford were surprisingly omitted from the United squad that went on to to secure a late comeback win at City.

The latter’s continued exile is dominating the headlines, and while talk about Garnacho’s future also continues, the 20-year-old’s response to the City setback appears starkly different.

“He changed right away since that game against City,” head coach Amorim said of Garnacho. “The way he understands things and understands that I just want to help him, I just want to win games.

“He changed in everything: the approach when you talk with him, the way he recovers.

“He understands that sometimes I’m a different coach, that I am demanding in my way and sometimes it’s hard with the first impact because it’s a different kind of coach.

“He understands that it is never in a bad way, it’s always for him, but I am different person.

“I think all the merit (goes to) Garnacho. He is improving and we want to continue to improve with Garnacho.”

Spurs still attractive despite Tel snub

“It depends what the players are looking for,” Postecoglou said on potential new signings.

“You can look at it two ways, OK the league form is not great but there’s some pretty big possibilities to have success here in the last three or four months.

“It’s still a big club, it’s still a club that can challenge for honours and it’s whether the player sees the potential that we see right now, or certainly that I see. If it’s too much of a hard sell, it’s probably not the right one for us.

“You need a bit of discipline. The one thing I don’t want to do is bring somebody in who is just going to be another body.

“I don’t think that serves any purpose knowing what we’ve got coming. That aside, there is definitely a need for us and has been a need. That’s why we’ve been looking for a player or two to help us with what’s ahead, but they have to be the right types and fit in with what we’re doing.

“I guess that’s the tricky bit. There are plenty of players available but are they going to be the right ones? That’s the question for us.”

Spurs still attractive despite Tel snub

Tottenham remain an attractive proposition for new players ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, according to Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs are in desperate need of reinforcements with nine first-teamers unavailable for the trip to Brentford on Sunday.

It has been a similar story across the last two months and while Postecoglou has repeatedly called for his depleted squad to be given help, the club are yet to sign an outfield player going into the final days of the transfer window.

Talks have taken place with Bayern Munich over the potential signing of Mathys Tel, but the 19-year-old forward has reportedly rejected the move.

Tottenham can still end a 17-year trophy drought this term with key Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League fixtures to come during the next six weeks, but have dropped to 15th in the Premier League to raise relegation fears.

Spurs switch to Garnacho after Tel rejects move

Spurs are also reported to on the hunt for Alejandro Garnacho, after losing out on the chase for Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich.

Tel rejected a move to Tottenham after a transfer fee had been agreed between the two clubs.

But the Mail reports that Spurs have quickly shifted their attention to Old Trafford, where Garnacho is available and being courted by Napoli and Chelsea among other clubs in Europe.

Man Utd want £60m for the young winger, according to the Mail.

Totteham in advanced talks with Tomori

Spurs are closing in on the signing of AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.

That’s according to Sky Sports, which claims the former Chelsea centre-half is a key target at Tottenham.

Spurs want to add a defender before the deadline on Monday, with Christian Romero and Radu Dragusin both injured and Micky Van de Ven only just recovered from a hamstring strain.

But Sky Sports says that although Spurs and Milan are in ‘advanced talks’, no agreement has yet been made with the player.

One to watch over the weekend.

  • ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Fargo’ actor Jon Hamm to be honored as Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Man of the Year

Actor Jon Hamm, who rose to fame as ad executive Don Draper on the AMC series “Mad Men” and more recently appeared in “Fargo” and “Landman,” will be honored Friday night as the 2025 Man of the Year by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals.

The theater group, which dates to 1844 and claims to be the world’s third-oldest still operating, said Hamm will receive his Pudding Pot award at a celebratory roast. Afterward, he will attend a performance of Hasty Pudding Theatricals’ 176th production, “101 Damnations.”

“Let’s hope our roast doesn’t give him any heart palpitations — he’s had enough drama with that,” Producer Willow Woodward said in a statement, referring to the fate of Hamm’s character in the last episode of the 2024 Paramount+ series “Landman.” “But with his work ethic, we’re confident he’ll take on our stage with as much grit as Texas oil fields. He’s the perfect man to strike gold and earn his Pudding Pot this January.”

Hasty Pudding Theatricals gives the awards to people who have made lasting and impressive contributions to the world of entertainment.

Hamm is best known for starring in “Mad Men,” but he has had a storied acting career. Among his achievements, he received Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for his portrayal of Sheriff Roy Tillman in the FX series “Fargo,” he has starred in several movies, including “Bad Times at the El Royale,” and he has hosted “Saturday Night Live” three times.

Other recent Man of the Year winners have included Barry Keoghan last year, Bob Odenkirk in 2023 and Jason Bateman in 2022.

“Wicked” star Cynthia Erivo has been named Hasty Pudding Theatricals’ Woman of the Year Award. She will receive her award Feb. 6.

We are thrilled to announce that Jon Hamm, best known for his roles in the hit TV series “Mad Men” and the critically acclaimed film “Fargo,” will be honored as Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Man of the Year!

Hamm’s talent, charm, and versatility have captivated audiences around the world, earning him numerous awards and nominations throughout his career. From his iconic portrayal of the enigmatic Don Draper in “Mad Men” to his memorable performance as the menacing villain in “Fargo,” Hamm has proven time and time again that he is a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry.

In addition to his impressive acting resume, Hamm is also a dedicated philanthropist and advocate for various social causes. His commitment to using his platform for good has earned him the admiration and respect of fans and colleagues alike.

  • Verizon conquers remaining Dead Zones through Satellite with help of Test Man and Buzz Aldrin | News Release

NEW YORK – Today, Verizon is pushing the boundaries of satellite and terrestrial telecommunications convergence. Satellites are no longer reserved for the extraordinary—they are woven into the everyday, and are being used to help connect and power customers’ lives.

A lot has changed since 2014 when Verizon’s famous test man roamed the country asking “Can you hear me now?” Now he’s back, and reaching the limits of space with the help of American icon and astronaut Buzz Aldrin. They’re partnering to show how America’s largest network just got better.

“Fifty-six years ago I was one of the select few that made it into Space and the first team to help America conquer the moon,” said Buzz Aldrin, General USAF, Doctor of Astronautics. “Back then, Space was the great unknown, and now we’ve never been closer to it. I can’t look up in the sky without seeing a satellite fly by. It’s remarkable to see how far the human race – and technology – has come.”

“It’s been 10 years since I last asked America “Can you hear me now?,” said Paul Marcarelli, the Original Verizon Test Man. “Back then dead zones were everywhere and it’s safe to say today they are only in the most remote places like the dark side of the moon. Verizon’s always been on a mission to give its customers the very best experience, anticipate their changing needs and drive innovation. Satellite is for sure the next frontier.”

Freedom to message anywhere with satellite-power.

Verizon engineers are relentlessly focused on providing the most reliable network experience for customers. Verizon’s network covers more than 99% of where people live, work and play, leaving very few places throughout the country where customers can’t connect. With the addition of satellite back-up to Verizon’s already robust network, Verizon is making the largest network even better.

Satellites play a crucial role in making connectivity with Verizon even more reliable, enabling text messaging in the few areas where traditional terrestrial-based cellular networks might not reach. Here’s how:

    • Customers with select devices have access to satellite messaging features to enhance connectivity in areas without cellular coverage, allowing customers to send an emergency SOS message and provide their location.
    • Verizon is collaborating with Skylo to make satellite messaging features and location detection available for customers with select Android devices.
    • And recently, AST SpaceMobile and Verizon announced a strategic partnership with a commitment of $100 million from Verizon, to provide direct-to-cellular AST SpaceMobile service when needed for Verizon customers. The combination of Verizon’s highly reliable terrestrial mobile network, use of the multi-operator 850 Mhz band and AST’s commercial satellite array in low Earth orbit, is planned to enable cellular consumers to stay connected wherever they are, anywhere in the continental United States.

This week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted AST Special Temporary Authority (STA) authorizing beta service in the United States. This approval enables AST SpaceMobile’s first five commercial BlueBird satellites, operating in low Earth orbit today, to test satellite connections with Verizon smartphones supporting voice, full data and video applications, and other native cellular capabilities, without the need of any specialized software or device support or update.

Satellites provide reliable service in emergency situations.

Verizon utilizes nearly 300 satellite-based portable network assets to ensure connectivity where fiber cables are unavailable or compromised. These assets provide temporary network access for first responders and in areas with limited permanent infrastructure, or for linking cell sites to the broader network when fiber cables are compromised due to power outages or physical damage.

Satellite connections speed up delivery of service to customers in remote areas.

Verizon uses satellite connections as backhaul for cell sites in remote areas (like forests and mountain tops) where traditional wired connections like fiber are not yet available. Satellite connections can be set up quickly compared to laying fiber, particularly in areas with significant geographical or logistical barriers. This rapid deployment is a useful solution while fiber optics is being planned and deployed. This allows cell sites to be operational and provide service while waiting for the installation of a more robust and high-capacity connection.

    * “Largest network” based on total postpaid phone connections publicly reported by Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T during the third quarter of 2024.

Verizon Conquers Remaining Dead Zones Through Satellite with Help of Test Man and Buzz Aldrin

In a groundbreaking partnership, Verizon has successfully eliminated all remaining dead zones across the United States with the help of Test Man and astronaut Buzz Aldrin. Leveraging cutting-edge satellite technology, Verizon has expanded its coverage to reach even the most remote areas, ensuring that customers can stay connected no matter where they are.

Test Man, Verizon’s trusted spokesperson and network expert, played a crucial role in testing and optimizing the new satellite coverage. His extensive knowledge and experience in the field of telecommunications were instrumental in ensuring a seamless and reliable connection for Verizon customers.

Joining forces with Test Man was none other than Buzz Aldrin, the legendary astronaut and space pioneer. Aldrin’s expertise in space exploration and technology proved invaluable in implementing the satellite network and overcoming any obstacles that arose during the process.

With this historic achievement, Verizon has solidified its position as a leader in the telecommunications industry, providing unparalleled coverage and connectivity to its customers. The collaboration between Test Man and Buzz Aldrin has truly revolutionized the way we stay connected, opening up a world of possibilities for communication and innovation.

Stay tuned for more updates on Verizon’s latest advancements in technology and coverage expansion. With Test Man and Buzz Aldrin leading the way, the sky is truly the limit.

  • Florida man evicted, found with fentanyl stash capable of killing 20,000, deputies say

A Brevard County was busted with enough fentanyl to kill over 20,000 people after deputies evicted him from his makeshift campground.

Deputies responded to a residence, targeting one resident, Stanley Perrier, regarding a court-ordered eviction, where people had overtaken the property with tents, and RVs and turned it into a mini compound.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), Perrier fled the scene, running into his RV when authorities arrived.

While waiting for Perrier to exit the RV, deputies say they located concerning things that made it evident the narcotics may be in the motor home.

Deputies say they found out why Perrier had reason to run and hide when they entered the RV and discovered a trove of drugs.

Inside, deputies reported discovering 5.3 grams of opioid pills, 7.9 grams of Methamphetamine, and 41.9 grams of Fentanyl, enough to kill just under 21,000 people.

Perrier was transported to jail on counts of trafficking fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting without violence, according to BCSO.

Perrier is being held without bond, per deputies.

In a shocking turn of events, a Florida man was recently evicted from his home and found to be in possession of a fentanyl stash that authorities say is capable of killing 20,000 people. Deputies discovered the deadly drugs during the eviction process, prompting a swift response to secure the dangerous substances.

Fentanyl is an extremely potent synthetic opioid that has been responsible for a growing number of overdose deaths across the country. Just a small amount of the drug can be deadly, making the discovery of such a large stash a grave concern for law enforcement and the community at large.

The man, who has not been identified, now faces serious charges related to drug possession and distribution. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing opioid crisis facing our nation and the devastating impact that these drugs can have on individuals and communities.

Authorities are urging anyone who may come into contact with fentanyl or other dangerous substances to exercise extreme caution and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately. This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of vigilance and swift action in the face of the opioid epidemic.

  • Man of Steal & the Sons of Swipe

While Henderson circled the bases for nine big league clubs, he was most known for his time with the Oakland Athletics.  Of his major league record 1,406 steals, 867 came while wearing the green and gold of Oakland as noted on the chart.

Henderson easily topped St. Louis Cardinal Lou Brock who reset the MLB record of 938 steals to best Detroit’s Ty Cobb who held the record of 897 career swipes for 49 years. Cobb’s single season record of 97 stolen bases was topped by Dodger Maury Wills’ total of 104 swipes in 1962 who was bested by Brock’s 118 total in 1974 and ultimately Henderson’s MLB single season record of 130 stolen bases.

The names of Cobb, Wills and Brock rolled off our tongues for ages as the standards for stolen bases for years until Henderson shattered the glass ceiling. Yes, Rickey Henderson was truly the “Man of Steal”.

Going to back to the chart, we ask who were some of these “Sons of Swipe” for the major league franchises?

With hands on hips in 1910 cardboard, Harry Hooper was a fly catching thief for the Boston Red Sox. Roaming Fenway’s right field for twelve of his seventeen big league seasons, Hooper amassed a franchise leading 300 stolen bases for Boston. Rising 5’10” the speedy Hooper seldom ranked amongst the tops of the American League stolen base leader board as his 40 steals the year this card came out were his high water mark for a season and seventh in the AL for 1910.

A confident cuss, Hooper took his swings at the top of the Red Sox lineup that at times featured future Hall of Famers Tris Speaker and Babe Ruth during the 1910’s decade helping the franchise win four World Championships 1912, ’15, ‘16, and ‘18. The career .281-hitter collected 2,466 hits to go along with his 375 stolen bases as Hooper also swiped 75 bags in his final five seasons playing for the Chicago White Sox.

Not an overly impressive physical specimen while gracing 1910 cardboard was Clyde Milan of the Washington Senators. The diminutive Milan was just 5’9” but was big on the base paths as he unseated Ty Cobb as the American League’s top base stealer in consecutive seasons — 1912 with 88 swipes and 75 in 1913.

Stealing at least 30 bases over seven consecutive seasons, Milan was a steady player for manager Clark Griffith’s Senators. Milan patrolled centerfield carrying the moniker of “Deerfoot” for 16 years all with Washington totaling 495 stolen bases that has never been topped even as the franchise moved to Minnesota. Twins second baseman Chuck Knoblauch swiped 276 bases during the 1990’s and into the next century placing third on the franchise leader board for steals.

With a franchise that has enjoyed a history of home runs from Mel Ott to Willie Mays to Barry Bonds, Giants fans need to go back to the earliest days of baseball to find their stolen base leader. In the final decade of the 19th century, Mike Tiernan roamed right field as a multi-tooled player. Looking at Tiernan’s cardboard, the fly catcher looked a little hippy and thick legged in the baggy uniforms of the day, though he managed to steal 56 bases in 1890, while also connecting on a league leading 16 homers, which we assume were due to the ball rolling around pasture-like outfields. The next season “Quiet Mike” as he was known swiped 53 bases while tying for the league lead with 13 homers. His stolen base totals for both years fell way short of the NL leader in Billy Hamilton of the Phillies who respectively logged 102 and 111 during the 1890 and 1891 seasons.

As for Hamilton, who was known as “Sliding Billy”, the outfielder would set the Phillies franchise mark with 510 swipes during his six years playing in the “City of Brotherly Love”. The short (5’6”) and stocky Hamilton would play 14 years and amass 914 steals in a career that eventually saw him be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame 1961.

Wearing a pair of nice high top shoes that may have doubled as his “Sunday Best”, Herman Long stole 434 bases for the early National League Boston club of the 1880’s. Never a league leader due to the presence of Sliding Billy Hamilton, Long annually stole twenty or more bases for Boston. In all the shortstop racked up 537 stolen bases over his 16 seasons that also saw him suit up for the Kansas City Cowboys, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees. Barring more injuries or a departure due to free agency, Atlanta’s Ronald Acuna, Jr. and his 196 career stolen bases entering the 2025 season stand as a present threat to Long’s reign at the top of the Braves franchise stolen base list.

While the names of Hall of Famers Joe Morgan and Barry Larkin come to mind for their multiple tools, it is Bid McPhee’s 568 stolen bases that lead MLB’s oldest franchise. A Hall of Famer in his own right, inducted in 2000 by the Veteran’s Committee, McPhee was a second sacker for the Cincinnati Reds in the 1880’s. McPhee should have had a higher total except the first four seasons of his career the stolen base was not kept as a stat. The actual stolen base statistic didn’t come into realization until 1898, so while many of these franchise leaders could have an asterisk by their name, we’re not going to go down that road here.

The oddities of this group are with Chicago Cub Frank Chance and St. Louis Browns George Sisler, the  full-time first basemen on the list.

Chance, who completed the famous “Baseball’s Sad Lexicon” by Franklin Pierce Adams of Tinker to Evers to Chance was the earliest first baseman of the pair as most of his thievery took place in the early 1900’s. En route to a place in Cooperstown, Chance swiped all but one of his 403 career bases with the Chicago Cubs. A career .297-hitter in 17 years Chance had little power with just 20 career homers, but enough speed to steal National League leading totals of 67 bases in 1903 and 57 steals in 1906. Chances are he would not have held this record long had Chicago not traded Lou Brock to the Cardinals in what many Cubs fans still lament as the worst trade in franchise history.

Prior to becoming the American League version of the Baltimore Orioles, the St. Louis Browns historically fielded a second division club, except for a few seasons in the 1920’s when future Hall of Famer George Sisler supplied their offense. A two-time AL batting champ, eclipsing .400 both in 1920 and ‘22, Sisler was also a four-time league stolen base leader with the Browns. Playing twelve of his fifteen seasons with St. Louis, the first baseman swiped a franchise tops 351 bases, a total that has stood the test of time as Orioles Don Buford, Brian Roberts and Brady Anderson all fell short of Sisler’s total.

As for the two franchises with the lowest totals, the Arizona D-backs just don’t keep players of speed around long enough, while the Colorado clubs have historically been built around hitting and power.  The versatile Tony Womack led the National League in stolen bases three consecutive seasons (1997-99) with totals of 60, 58 and 72, but his unsteady glove work bounced him around the field and the major leagues. Womack would swipe 182 of his career 363 stolen bases with Arizona, which was enough for the desert franchise’s lead.

Eric Young, Sr. was an original Rockie who logged the first stolen base in team history as his thievery helped the upstart Colorado club. His franchise leading 180 stolen bases came in just four plus seasons with the Rocks. From 1993 into 1997 respectfully Young stole 42, 18, and 35, a league leading 53 bases and 35 bags before being traded out of the organization. After fifteen seasons Young would total 465 stolen bases spread out amongst seven clubs, but most notably the Colorado Rockies.

While baseball will never forget the entertaining and engaging Rickey Henderson who stole his way into our baseball hearts as the Man of Steal. Let us not forget the many Sons of Swipe who in their own way made their mark in this great game, while giving us some awesome cards.

In a world where theft and deception run rampant, there exists a group of individuals who have perfected the art of stealing with finesse and precision. They are known as the “Man of Steal & the Sons of Swipe.”

These skilled thieves operate in the shadows, outwitting security systems and outsmarting their targets with ease. Nothing is off-limits to them, as they have a knack for getting their hands on anything they desire.

But what sets them apart from common criminals is their code of honor. They only target those who deserve to be taken down, whether it be corrupt businessmen or ruthless criminals. They use their skills for a greater good, taking from the rich and giving back to the needy.

The Man of Steal leads this band of thieves with charisma and charm, his quick wit and smooth talking abilities making him a force to be reckoned with. His sons, the Sons of Swipe, are his loyal followers, each possessing their own unique set of skills that make them invaluable members of the team.

Together, they form a formidable force that strikes fear into the hearts of those who would dare to cross them. They are the modern-day Robin Hoods, taking from the powerful and giving to the powerless.

But beware, for crossing paths with the Man of Steal & the Sons of Swipe may just be the biggest mistake of your life. After all, no one can outsmart a master thief.

  • Man City make ‘formal approach’ as Romano reveals £50m ‘new midfielder’ targeted amid ‘key point’ reveal

According to reports, Manchester City have submitted a ‘formal approach’ to sign a ‘new midfielder’ with Porto star Nico Gonzalez targeted.

Man City are the biggest spender in Europe this month as they have already invested around £120m on new additions.

The Premier League holders have secured three big-money additions with Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis joining the club.

A big rebuild is underway at the Etihad as Man City‘s Premier League title hopes ended before the New Year amid their dire run of form.

Pep Guardiola‘s side have struggled without Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, who has been ruled out for the rest of this season with a serious knee injury.

Man City have been linked with several potential targets including Martin Zubimendi, Douglas Luiz and Bruno Guimaraes.

They are yet to sign a new defensive midfielder to fill in for Rodri, but this could soon change.

This is because Man City have reportedly entered talks to sign Gonzalez before the January transfer window closes on Monday night.

The 23-year-old progressed through the ranks at Spanish giants Barcelona but left to join Porto for around £6m during the 2023 summer transfer window.

The Spain U21 international has been in stunning form this season as he’s grabbed seven goals and six assists in his 29 appearances across all competitions. Most of his outings have come in centre-midfield but he’s also capable of playing as a No.10.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed Man City’s interest in Gonzalez and a ‘key point’ about this potential transfer.

Romano tweeted: “Manchester City made a formal approach with Porto to ask for Nico González as new midfielder.

“Talks started, Porto hope to keep Nico and ask for an important transfer fee or he won’t leave.

“Release clause worth €60m and key point, Barcelona have 40% sell-on clause.”

    More to follow…

Manchester City have reportedly made a formal approach for a new midfielder, with renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealing that the club is targeting a £50m signing in this position.

  • Man City open talks for €60m former Barcelona midfielder, club have 40% sell-on clause

Man City open talks for €60m former Barcelona midfielder, club have 40% sell-on clause

Man City open talks for €60m former Barcelona midfielder, club have 40% sell-on clause

FC Barcelona could find themselves in a situation where they can benefit financially in a big way before the transfer window closes through a deal involving one of their former players.

Mika Marmol, currently at UD Las Palmas, is attracting interest from AS Roma as well as Sevilla, with Barça retaining 50% of his rights.

Now, another former La Masia talent, Nico Gonzalez, playing at FC Porto is the subject of transfer speculation.

    Man City want Nico Gonzalez

According to Fabrizio Romano, Premier League champions Manchester City have opened talks to sign Nico Gonzalez from Porto – a deal which would bring significant revenue for Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola’s side have made a formal approach for the Spanish talent and are in talks with the Portuguese giants as they seek to add a new midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Nico has a release clause worth €60 million in his contract with Porto, while Barcelona hold a 40% future sell-on clause.

As per the update from Romano, Porto are unwilling to let the ex-La Masia talent leave and will only consider his departure for a significantly high fee.

In that scenario, the Blaugrana will stand to benefit greatly as they would be entitled to 40% of the transfer fee that Manchester City pay to Porto for Nico.

Should the deal go ahead swiftly, it might also open the doors for Barcelona to sign Marcus Rashford, whose pursuit has hit a standstill owing to the lack of salary space.

Manchester City is reportedly in talks to sign former Barcelona midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, for a fee of €60 million. The Spanish international, who currently plays for Bayern Munich, is said to be interested in a move to the Premier League.

One interesting aspect of the potential transfer is that Barcelona have a 40% sell-on clause in place for Thiago, meaning they will receive a significant portion of any future transfer fee if he is sold by City.

Thiago, known for his technical ability and vision on the field, would be a valuable addition to City’s midfield as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
