¡Vamos Gunners!

  • Patrick Dorgu: Manchester United sign defender from Lecce for £25m

Manchester United have signed Denmark defender Patrick Dorgu from Lecce on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

The deal for the 20-year-old is worth £25m (30m euros), with a potential £4.1m (5m euros) in add-ons.

Dorgu has made 57 appearances for Lecce since his senior debut at the start of last season, having joined the club at youth level in 2022.

“I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Manchester United player – this is a very special day for my whole family,” said Dorgu.

“I cannot wait to work with Ruben Amorim. His vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions.”

Talks over a loan move for United’s Dutch full-back Tyrell Malacia, 25, to join Portuguese club Benfica have broken down.

Meanwhile, Red Devils striker Marcus Rashford is scheduled to have a medical at Aston Villa before completing a loan move to the Midlands club.

Rashford has not featured for United since being dropped by head coach Ruben Amorim for the Manchester derby on 12 December.

Manchester United have made a big move in the transfer market, signing defender Patrick Dorgu from Italian club Lecce for a reported fee of £25m. The 22-year-old Nigerian international is seen as a promising talent and United fans will be hoping he can make an immediate impact in the team’s defense.

Dorgu is known for his solid defensive abilities and his composure on the ball, making him a valuable addition to United’s backline. With the Red Devils looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season, Dorgu’s signing is seen as a step in the right direction.

It remains to be seen how Dorgu will adapt to the Premier League, but with his potential and talent, he could prove to be a key player for United in the future. Fans will be eagerly anticipating his debut and hoping that he can help the team challenge for silverware in the coming season.

  • Arsenal vs. Manchester City: Live stream English Premier League match today

LONDON — Manchester City looks to capitalize on momentum from a big win against Club Brugge last week as it faces rival Arsenal in an English Premier League match Sunday at Emirates Stadium. The match is slated to start at 11:30 a.m. Eastern on Peacock.

City trails Arsenal in for second place in the league standings, and manager Pep Guardiola believes his club has what it takes to pull ahead.

Arsenal needs a victory in order to keep pace with frontrunning Liverpool, which has steadied the ship after a troublesome midseason stretch.

City has gone six matches without a loss and is coming off a win against Chelsea as its goal scoring has picked up of late. Guardiola’s crew has tallied 30 goals in its last eight outings.

Phil Foden has six goals in his last seven matches, and City could soon see Oscar Bobb return after a five-month absence.

Arsenal has been inconsistent, fighting to a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa after leading 2-0. The Gunners have also registered a pair of draws against Brighton. Standing six points behind Liverpool, it could be do-or-die time for Mikel Arteta’s crew.

The two clubs met in September in a contentious match that ended all square at 2-2. John Stones delivered the tying score for City, with Arsenal down a man. Tempers flared at the conclusion as a scuffle broke out on the pitch.

  • Real Madrid’s injury woes may have gotten worse with Champions League clash vs. Manchester City looming

    rudiger.jpg
    Getty Images

Real Madrid have dealt with numerous injuries lately, but with defender Antonio Rudiger needing to be subbed out in the 15th minute of their match facing Espanyol on Saturday, manager Carlo Ancelotti will be sweating. The German defender appeared to suffer a hamstring injury before being withdrawn from the match where he was replaced by young defender Raul Ascencio.

Rudiger seemed to feel discomfort while defending a cross before coming out after being examined by the physios.

Already starting Aurelien Tchouameni at center back due to Eder Militao being absent with an ACL injury of his own, this could put Madrid’s defensive corps in quite a tight spot with big games on the horizon. Not only is there a top-of-the-table clash in the Madrid derby with Atletico Madrid on Feb. 8, but in quick succession, Los Blancos will head to Manchester for the first leg of the Champions League knockout round playoffs against Manchester City.

Real Madrid expect to win the Champions League each year, not just make it to the round of 16, but if Rudiger isn’t ready for the first leg on Feb. 11, they’ll struggle to track Erling Haaland and make it out with a victory.

Rudiger’s physicality and mastery of the dark arts to get into the head of his opponents is something unmatched by other defenders in the world which is why he has become a mainstay in the Real Madrid defense. Of course, there’s always the chance that his withdrawal from the Espanyol match is just a precaution to make sure that he’s healthy for a busy February, but missing any time would come as a concern.

Real Madrid’s injury troubles seem to be mounting as they prepare to face off against Manchester City in the Champions League. The Spanish giants are already dealing with a number of key players sidelined due to injuries, including the likes of Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, and Rodrygo.

The latest blow comes in the form of Karim Benzema, who picked up a muscle injury during their La Liga clash against Levante. The French striker has been an instrumental player for Real Madrid this season, scoring crucial goals and providing a creative spark in the attack.

With Benzema’s availability for the upcoming Champions League fixture against Manchester City uncertain, Real Madrid will have to rely on their other attacking options to step up. Zinedine Zidane will likely turn to players like Vinicius Junior, Isco, and Luka Jovic to fill the void left by Benzema’s absence.

Facing a formidable opponent like Manchester City, Real Madrid will need all hands on deck to secure a positive result. The injury woes only add to the challenge for Zidane’s side, but they will have to dig deep and find a way to overcome the odds if they hope to advance in the Champions League.

  • Real Madrid suffer major Champions League blow with Manchester City on the horizon

Real Madrid haven’t had their injury problems to seek in recent times and Carlo Ancelotti has now been dealt another huge potential blow just 10 days before the mouthwatering Champions League knockout playoff first leg against Manchester City.

Antonio Rüdiger injured against Espanyol: what happened?

In Saturday’s LaLiga game away to Espanyol, central defender Antonio Rüdiger was forced off the field after only 15 minutes, with youngster Raúl Asencio taking his place.

The German fell to the ground clutching the back of his right leg moments after sticking it out in an attempt to block a cross. There was no Espanyol player near him, with a muscle injury almost certainly the cause.

With just over a week to go until Madrid face City in the bid to reach the Champions League last 16, there will now be serious questions over Rüdiger’s availability. Even if he does play, it appears unlikely he will be 100% fit.

    Real Madrid’s defensive injuries

Ancelotti is already without first-choice right-back Dani Carvajal and Rüdiger’s normal central defensive partner, Eder Militão, both of whom are recovering from ACL tears. David Alaba is now available again after suffering the same injury but would go into a huge European game having barely played for over a year.

Real Madrid fans were left reeling after their team suffered a major blow in the Champions League, with a difficult match against Manchester City looming on the horizon.

The Spanish giants were dealt a devastating blow as they were defeated by Levante in La Liga, leaving them with a mountain to climb in the title race. This loss comes at a crucial time for Real Madrid, as they prepare to face off against Manchester City in the Champions League Round of 16.

With key players such as Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema sidelined with injuries, Zinedine Zidane’s side will need to dig deep and find a way to overcome the formidable English opponents. The pressure is on for Real Madrid to deliver a strong performance and keep their Champions League hopes alive.

As the match against Manchester City draws near, Real Madrid will need to regroup, refocus, and come up with a game plan to turn their fortunes around.

  • Marcus Rashford: Aston Villa closing in on loan deal for Manchester United striker

Aston Villa are closing in on a loan deal for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Sources have told BBC Sport talks are at an advanced stage, but there is work to be done to finalise the move.

The prospect of working with Villa boss Unai Emery is understood to be an attractive one for the 27-year-old.

Rashford has not featured for United since being dropped by head coach Ruben Amorim for the Manchester derby on 12 December.

Amorim said on Wednesday he felt his side would be better with Rashford in it, but the player had not met the standards he demands of his squad.

“Imagine a talent like Rashford, our team should be so much better with him – but he has to change,” said the United manager.

“If he changes, we are more than welcome [to include him] – and we need it. But in this moment we have to set some standards. We are waiting for Rashford, if he wants it really bad.”

Rashford has been with United since the age of seven, made more than 400 appearances, won the Europa League, two FA Cups and two EFL Cups.

He scored in Amorim’s first game in charge, a 1-1 away draw at Ipswich on 24 November, before netting twice in a 4-0 win over Everton a week later.

But the forward was left out of the squad for United’s 2-1 victory at Manchester City on 15 December and subsequently told journalist Henry Winter he was “ready for a new challenge”.

Aston Villa is reportedly closing in on a loan deal for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford. The talented forward has struggled for game time at Old Trafford this season and could benefit from a temporary move to Villa Park.

Rashford burst onto the scene as a teenager and quickly became a key player for United, but has found himself on the fringes of the first team in recent months. A loan move to Villa would give him the opportunity to reignite his career and showcase his talents on a regular basis.

Villa are in need of attacking reinforcements and Rashford would provide them with a proven goal scorer and creative presence in the final third. The loan deal could be a win-win for both parties, with Rashford getting the chance to play regularly and Villa adding a quality player to their squad.

It remains to be seen if the deal will go through, but if it does, Aston Villa fans can look forward to seeing Marcus Rashford in claret and blue this season. Stay tuned for further updates on this potential transfer.
