Meghan Markle Shares Candid Family Story in Unplanned Speech at Invictus Games
Meghan Markle gave a heartfelt introduction to Prince Harry just hours after the couple touched down in Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games.
On Friday, Feb. 7, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, took the stage to give an unscripted speech in Vancouver, Canada, at a welcome reception for athlete and their friends and families. The Invictus Games has returned for the next chapter in the international sporting event that celebrates wounded, injured and sick service members and veterans. It takes place in Vancouver and Whistler from Feb. 8 until Feb. 16.
In a clip of the opening night shared on X by an attendee, Meghan gushed about her return to Canada before honoring her husband, Harry, 40.
“I was not planning on speaking tonight,” Meghan said. “We just arrived a couple of hours ago and I touched Canadian soil and I went, ‘feels like home.’
“We are so excited and we also recognize most of you are probably so exhausted from how much travel you’ve done, how much adrenaline you have pumping, how excited you are for what is going to be one of the most outstanding, memorable, unforgettable, and connected weeks probably for you and your families,” she continued.
“We are just thrilled to be here and I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to introduce someone who means a lot to me and I know means quite a lot to all of you,” she added, speaking of Prince Harry.
“You will see him throughout this week,” Meghan said. “You will see him at the games, you will see him probably curling with you and cheering you on at wheelchair basketball.”
The Duchess joked that Harry will take part in sports that she would “never do” to show his support for those taking part in the games as she built excitement for the days ahead.
She revealed that in the period leading up to the event, he had been juggling being an actively involved father to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, while eagerly preparing for the sports tournament.

“With families…the big rush in the morning and getting ready for school and packing the lunchboxes and making breakfast and my husband is in all of that with all of us,” Meghan said. “And then he’ll be on his phone, and Archie will be like, ‘Papa, why are you on your phone?’ and he says, ‘Because it’s Invictus, I’m getting ready for Invictus.’”
“It means so much to him,” Meghan shared. “You are his family just as we are his family. And I hope you recognize how much of his heart he has poured into every single beat that has gotten all of you to this week, that’s going to be spectacular.
“I need you to know that, how much it means to him and how much each of you mean to him. It is my entire pleasure and complete honor to introduce to the stage my husband, the father of our very sweet, excited children who are cheering you on from California, Prince Harry, founder of the Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex.”
The attendees applauded as Prince Harry entered the stage, embracing Meghan and sharing a quick kiss before approaching the podium.
Invictus Games welcome reception.

Addressing the crowd, Harry said, “What a beautiful sight.”
“Are you all tired?” he asked as the crowd shouted out. “Team Canada’s not tired!”
The appearance marked their first official public appearance together in nearly six months, when the duo visited Colombia for a tour that included salsa dancing, drumming and practicing Spanish as they promoted causes such as safe online spaces, military community and female empowerment. They have since made separate outings and were spotted supported wildfire relief efforts together following the Los Angeles tragedy in January.
Meghan, 43, and Prince Harry, 40, are regulars at the Invictus Games, which Harry founded in 2014. A former British army captain, Harry was inspired to start the event after returning from Afghanistan with injured allies and witnessing the U.S. Armed Forces’ Warrior Games in 2013. Meghan made her debut at the event in 2017 — which doubled as the couple’s first official joint appearance after a year of dating — when the Invictus Games were held in Toronto, where she lived at the time while filming the show Suits.

Following cycles in London (2014), Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017) and Sydney (2018), the Hague (when COVID-19 pushed the event back to 2022) and Düsseldorf (2023), the upcoming cycle in Canada will be the first time the sports tournament has returned to a previous host country.
The Vancouver-Whistler Games will also mark a new chapter for the competition, as winter sports — including alpine skiing, snowboarding, curling and skeleton — will be included for the first time.

In February 2024, Meghan and Prince Harry visited British Columbia for the Invictus Games Vancouver-Whistler’s One Year to Go celebrations. They checked out the Winter Training Camp, and Harry tried some of the sports out himself.
Dominic Reid, the outgoing CEO of the Invictus Games Foundation, praised Prince Harry’s dedication to the event, telling PEOPLE that he has “created extraordinary opportunities” for veterans and service members, making them feel “seen, heard, and cared for.”
In a heartwarming moment at the Invictus Games, Meghan Markle opened up about a personal family story that touched the audience’s hearts. The Duchess of Sussex delivered an unplanned speech at the event, sharing a candid and emotional story about her own family’s struggles and triumphs.Markle spoke about her father’s military service and how it inspired her to support and champion the brave men and women competing at the Invictus Games. Justine Bateman tells Piers Morgan why she thinks Prince Harry, Meghan Markle are ‘disaster tourists’
Hollywood actress turned producer Justine Bateman slammed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after they visited Los Angeles in the wake of the devastating wildfires recently.
In her tweet following Meghan and Harry’s visit, Bateman dubbed the royal couple ‘Disaster Tourists’
The Family Ties actress said, “Meghan Markle and Harry are no better than ambulance chasers. What a repulsive “photo op” they achieved.”
She continued, “They are ‘touring the damage’? Are they politicians now? They don’t live here; they are tourists.
“Disaster Tourists. #PalisadesFire.”
Now, in an interview with Piers Morgan, she tells the outspoken journalist why she thinks Harry and Meghan are ‘disaster tourists.’
She said, “I don’t know why they were walking over possible human remains.”
Meanwhile sharing the reaction of Meghan and Harry, a source told Page Six, “It’s offensive to Meghan and Harry that anybody would think this is merely a photo opportunity.”
The insider said Archie and Lilibet doting mom is “not just a tourist” and “her heart is completely broken for all the lives that have been lost and for those whose homes have been destroyed in these fires.”
Former Family Ties actress Justine Bateman recently sat down with Piers Morgan to discuss her opinion on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, branding them as “disaster tourists”. In a candid interview, Bateman expressed her belief that the royal couple’s constant media presence and involvement in controversial issues are merely a ploy to stay relevant and generate attention.Bateman pointed out that Harry and Meghan seem to thrive on drama and controversy, using their platform to comment on hot-button topics and insert themselves into global crises. She criticized their tendency to capitalize on tragedy and suffering, labeling them as “disaster tourists” who exploit the misfortunes of others for their own gain.
The actress also raised concerns about the couple’s impact on the royal family, noting that their actions have caused rifts and tensions within the institution. She questioned their motives for stepping back from their royal duties and moving to the United States, suggesting that their decisions may have been driven by a desire for more freedom and independence rather than a genuine commitment to service and philanthropy.
Overall, Bateman’s frank assessment of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s behavior has sparked a debate among fans and critics alike. While some may see them as progressive trailblazers, others view them as opportunistic celebrities who are more concerned with their own image than with making a positive impact on the world. Only time will tell how their legacy will be remembered in the annals of royal history.

Rob Lowe’s brutal verdict on having Meghan and Harry as neighbours | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have attracted renewed interest to their “sleepy little town” of Montecito, California, since moving there in 2020.
Actor Rob Lowe, said that although the Royal couple tried to keep “a low profile,” they expanded interest in the area.
According to The Independent, he confirmed to E! News: “They definitely have brought a lot of attention to my sleepy little town.”
“Let me tell you something: Once the royals move into your neighbourhood, the neighbourhood is never going to be the same.”
The Wayne’s World star who has lived in the area for over two decades also spoke on the changes Oprah’s Montecito home brought to the town.
Rob recalled: “When Oprah moved in, that began the sort of resurgence of Montecito. And now that the royals are there, the good news is property values go up, the bad news is the lines are longer at Starbucks.”
In addition to having star-studded neighbours, Meghan and Harry’s $29 million property sits on a sprawling 7.4-acre estate.
The nearly 19,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style home boasts nine bedrooms, and 16 bathrooms, providing plenty of growing room for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
With Tuscan-inspired architecture, the grandeur property retains its serenity, offering the Royal couple more than enough privacy away from their highly publicized life.
While the outside boasts of extensive gardens, clipped hedges, cypress and olive trees, the inside contains a library, gym, home cinema and an arcade.
Despite this, recent reports suggest that other neighbours are not happy with having Harry and Meghan so close by.
While one complained about the noisy throng of tourists and fast cars in their once-peaceful neighbourhood, another issued a brutal jibe about their recent project.
They told the MailOnline: “They moved away from England to get away from the scrutiny of the press and all they do is try and get in the press in the United States.”
Rob Lowe’s brutal verdict on having Meghan and Harry as neighboursIn a recent interview, actor Rob Lowe didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts on having Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as neighbours. The Hollywood star, who lives near the couple’s Montecito mansion, had some strong opinions about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Lowe revealed that he has had some interesting encounters with Meghan and Harry, and it seems he is not entirely impressed. He described them as “very royal” and hinted at some awkward interactions with the couple.
While Lowe didn’t go into specifics, it’s clear that he has mixed feelings about having such high-profile neighbours. However, he did acknowledge that living near Meghan and Harry has brought some excitement to his quiet neighbourhood.
It seems that even in the world of celebrities, there can be some interesting dynamics when it comes to neighbours. Only time will tell how this Hollywood saga plays out. Stay tuned for more updates on this celebrity feud.

Recent developments highlight the challenging public perception Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face, even when engaging in acts of compassion. During a visit to Pasadena, Los Angeles, to comfort wildfire survivors, the couple’s efforts were met with scorn rather than praise.Hollywood filmmaker Justine Bateman sharply criticized their actions on social media, labeling them “disaster tourists” in what she described as a “repulsive photo op.” Bateman’s comments resonated with many online, amplifying the narrative that the Sussexes’ intentions are more about self-promotion than genuine care.
Popularity Decline?
This incident reflects the steep decline in their popularity. Critics argue that the couple’s ongoing public statements and projects, including Prince Harry’s memoir and their infamous Oprah interview, have cemented their reputation as out-of-touch and self-righteous figures. For some, even gestures of goodwill are dismissed as calculated moves.
Adding to their troubles, Harry and Meghan recently issued a joint…
In the latest news surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it seems that the couple has once again found themselves at the center of controversy. Despite their claims to be more connected and relatable to the public, recent events have shown that they are more out of touch than ever. From their lavish lifestyle in their multi-million dollar mansion in California to their high-profile partnerships with big corporations, Prince Harry and Meghan have continued to distance themselves from the everyday experiences of the average person. Their recent announcement of a partnership with a major tech company for a documentary series on mental health has drawn criticism for its tone-deafness and lack of self-awareness.
Additionally, the couple’s decision to step back from their royal duties and move to the United States has only further solidified their status as out-of-touch celebrities rather than relatable public figures. While they may claim to be using their platform for good, their actions speak louder than words, and it appears that they are more interested in building their own brand than truly making a difference in the world.
Overall, Prince Harry and Meghan have shown that they are now more out of touch than ever, and it remains to be seen if they will be able to regain the public’s trust and support in the future.

Meghan Markle Donated Supplies to Altadena Teen Girls Amid L.A. Fires
Meghan Markle is continuing her volunteer efforts in her hometown of Los Angeles amid the ongoing wildfires. After donating essential supplies and serving meals with World Central Kitchen in Pasadena alongside her husband, Prince Harry, last week, the Duchess of Sussex was at it again—this time, supporting teen girls who were affected specifically by the Eaton Fire.
Working with the new relief organization Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery Group, Markle arrived to the volunteer site with new clothing and beauty products to donate, as well as lunch for volunteers—according to People. She also chatted with families and assisted the girls with shopping.
Altadena Teen Girls Instagram
Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery Group was launched by 14-year-old Avery Colvert to help “young girls regain their sense of self and confidence” in the aftermath of the fires. On Wednesday, the group shared an Instagram reel that showed footage of Markle’s low-key volunteer visit.
Dressed in a black T-shirt, leggings, and sneakers, the duchess wore a beige sweater wrapped around her shoulders and sported a black “LA” baseball cap while carrying two large tote bags filled with supplies. The group also revealed that Meghan and Harry’s Archewell Foundation financially supported their mission, offering them a “special thanks.”

“We are official! We can now accept donations directly to our organization and make sure that all of these funds get RIGHT to the community where it’s needed! So many of you have set up your own Venmos and stuff to gather money for us and we are so grateful,” the message read, adding: “A special thanks to The Archewell Foundation for your support!”
In addition to doing what she can to help, Markle has postponed the launch of her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, to “focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires” in her home state of California. The series will now debut in March.

José Andrés Praises Meghan Markle, Prince Harry for Visiting L.A. Fire Victims
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “show up” when it matters, regardless of the cameras or criticism they may face as a result, according to their friend José Andrés.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex — who live in Montecito, Calif., about 90 miles north of the L.A. area — have quietly aided with wildfire relief efforts as blazes tear across Southern California, donating essential supplies, connecting with affected families and serving meals with World Central Kitchen (WCK).
Andrés is “just glad that they show up like so many others,” he told PEOPLE during the Cayman Cookout at the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman, where he hosted a number of events, including a live taping of his podcast, Longer Tables.
“I mean, listen, I consider them friends,” the WCK founder and restaurateur, 55, says of the pair, who have longstanding ties to his organization. “I know they are in the spotlight — not just in America, but in Britain — and what I can tell you from what I know is that they don’t have to, but they decide to do it.”

On Jan. 10, Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, visited the WCK location in Pasadena to help distribute food and supplies to victims of the Eaton Fire, aid that The Bazaar and Zaytinya owner called “amazing.”
“Probably, you feel like it’s better that nobody does anything, because nobody criticizes you for showing up — but the amazing thing is that they show up,” Andrés says. “The hugs I saw [them] give to the people that recognize them and even the people that don’t recognize them, it’s people that just want somebody to listen to them, and give them a hug.”
Adds the chef: “I’m just glad that they show up like so many others.”

Like another one of his famous friends who assisted WCK in its fire relief efforts in the L.A. area, Jennifer Garner, Meghan and Harry were there to help, not for media attention, Andrés explains.
“The joy they bring to the people, the joy they bring to the first responders, or the people that lost everything… and to see those celebrities giving hugs and crying with the people when some of those celebrities lost their homes — they could be home, but they are there,” he tells PEOPLE. “And I think anybody that does anything, celebrity or not, only they will always forever get my applause and my recognition.”
Some of the individuals assisting WCK and other relief efforts, he continues, “may be celebrities, but in those moments they are one more person willing to do absolutely anything for anybody.”
“So, for everybody that was able to show up even for an hour, for me, they’re amazing people, because they don’t have to because some of them, they are suffering the consequences, maybe, of the fire,” he says. “But there they are and they don’t do it where there are cameras, they’re doing it where there is nobody.”

“And that,” he adds, “makes it very special.”

Speaking about the aid Meghan and Harry “anonymously” provided to the victims of the wildfires, as well as first responders and others affected, Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo told local news outlet FOX 11 that the couple “really buoyed the spirits of the first responders.”
“They want to be as helpful as they can be … we visited with some of the affected families in some of the burned-out areas in Pasadena and Altadena,” Gordo continued. “They took the time to meet the people that are affected and spent time. They’re just very caring people who are concerned for their friends and neighbors.”

In the wake of the wildfires, Meghan, who was born and raised in L.A., also postponed the release of her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan, a decision that was widely met with support. In response to those who criticized or questioned her motives, however, an industry insider revealed that the choice was an “easy” one, driven by her genuine concern for her hometown and those impacted by the fires.
“Delaying the release of With Love, Meghan was likely an easy decision for her. I don’t think she could imagine putting out a show centered on joy and hosting when so many people in her home state no longer have homes to host people in,” the insider said. “I think it’s sad that critics are saying she’s only doing this to avoid the fires overshadowing her show. We’re all human, and we’re dealing with a catastrophe.”

Celebrity chef José Andrés took to social media to praise Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for their recent visit to Los Angeles fire victims. The royal couple visited a community kitchen run by Andrés’ organization, World Central Kitchen, to meet with those affected by the devastating wildfires in California.Andrés, who is known for his humanitarian efforts and providing meals to those in need during times of crisis, expressed his gratitude for Meghan and Harry’s support. In a tweet, he wrote, “Thank you Meghan and Harry for visiting our community kitchen and for your continued commitment to helping those in need. Your compassion and dedication to making a difference is truly inspiring.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been vocal advocates for various social issues, including environmental conservation and supporting those affected by natural disasters. Their visit to the community kitchen in Los Angeles was a testament to their ongoing efforts to use their platform for positive change.
Andrés’ praise for Meghan and Harry serves as a reminder of the importance of using one’s influence to help others and make a meaningful impact in the world. The royal couple’s visit to the fire victims in L.A. is just one example of their dedication to supporting communities in times of need.

Meghan Markle has been mocked by Candace Owens after a reporter sought to explain her help for Los Angeles wildfire victims during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s visit to the wildfire zone.
“She stooped down and she picked up the lid of a plastic bin,” Owens said in a TikTok clip. “And that’s how I knew my girl was real, and I just want to thank Meghan for doing that. It’s very helpful for her to stoop down and do that.”
Owens told Newsweek in a statement: “I agree with the general public sentiment that Meghan and Harry are inauthentic ambulance chasers.”
Why It Matters
Meghan and Harry’s visit to the wildfire zone sits neatly within the remit of a traditional royal engagement, but the fact the couple are no longer working royals appears to have landed badly with some people.
They were likely not helped by the fact much of the news footage showed them talking to World Central Kitchen staff and Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo or walking through ruined streets rather than packing boxes with aid for victims.
However, it remains the case that the Sussexes appear to be in the same negative spiral with conservative Americans that they had been in with conservative Brits prior to quitting the royal family.

What To Know
The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry toured fire-ravaged neighborhoods as well as visiting a Pasadena site where World Central Kitchen were offering disaster relief last Friday.
Owens shared a clip of an interview with Gordo, in which the reporter said: “It looked as if the two of them might want to really be helpful, as I saw actually Meghan Markle, like, stoop down and take off the lid of a plastic bin. Do they really want to get down and dirty?”
Owens said: “If there’s any plastic bins that you guys see around that need picking up, you can hit up your girl Meghan Markle. It’s amazing.
“I really just got such a chuckle out of that description. It’s just such a nonsense. Nobody cares. Send money, send food, it’s about what these people need.
“They need donations, they need a place to live, they need hotels. That’s not to say they aren’t doing that, I’m sure perhaps they are in the background, but I just don’t understand this visit.”
She also mocked Meghan’s decision to postpone her Netflix show With Love, Meghan.
“Meghan, our duchess, has decided that she’s going to push the Netflix series, the one that we showed you of her cooking, its so relatable.
“She felt that maybe it would not be relatable at this time to see her cooking in a mansion that belongs to one of her friends and inviting over her rich and fabulous people as she gets honey out of the garden and presents perfect Martha Stewart-looking cakes.
“They thought maybe it’s not the right time, it was kind of devastating that they’re going to have to push that but then people will be able to watch it at a later time.”
The clip of Owens’ comments was liked 27,000 times and viewed 550,000 times after being posted on TikTok.
What People Are Saying
Not everyone agreed with Owens, as one comment on her post read: “I like Candace, but the Meghan Markle hate is ridiculous.”
Another commenter said: “I don’t understand how a reporter’s question of one moment of Meghan volunteer work, probably in the middle of doing something, is now a bit to again criticize Meghan. That makes no sense.”
What Happens Next
Meghan’s cooking show With Love, Meghan, postponed in the wake of the L.A. fires, will now launch on March 4.

In a recent tweet, conservative commentator Candace Owens took a jab at Meghan Markle for her efforts to help those affected by wildfires in California. Owens mocked Markle’s plea for donations, suggesting that the Duchess of Sussex’s message was insincere and attention-seeking.Owens’ tweet sparked controversy online, with many criticizing her for belittling Markle’s charitable efforts. Some argued that any help, no matter how small, is valuable in times of crisis.
Markle has been vocal about her support for various humanitarian causes, including those related to the environment and natural disasters. However, her actions have often been met with criticism and skepticism from some quarters.
It remains to be seen how Markle will respond to Owens’ mocking comments, but one thing is clear: the debate over celebrity activism and the role of public figures in charitable efforts is far from over.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s Netflix deal is expected to wrap up in 2025 while the duchess’ new lifestyle brand will launch—making the next 12 months crucial for their American success.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 2024 was perhaps the quietest year of their relationship after a rollercoaster seven years dominated by wars with the media, royal bombshells, marriage, children and relocation to the U.S.
Comparatively, the main highlights of the past 12 months were two “faux” royal tours of Nigeria and Colombia.

However, 2025 may prove to be a crunch year as their Netflix deal is expected to wrap up with at least one new project, posing questions about what their future looks like after leaving the streaming platform.
At the same time, Meghan’s lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard is expected to debut after a soft launch in March, when she sent samples of jam to her A-list friends prompting a flurry of Instagram posts from stars like Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.
That all means that fans who have watched their star fall somewhat since the release of Harry’s book Spare in January 2023 will have a good idea by the end of 2025 whether they have found a way to make it soar again.
Harry and Meghan’s 2024
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have now clocked up almost two years with no major hostile interviews targeting the prince’s family, the last ones being grouped around the publicity for his 2023 book Spare.
Instead, the biggest moments in their year were overseas visits, first to Nigeria in May and then to Colombia in August.
The trips were organized like a traditional royal tour but without the inclusion of the British foreign office and or the status of a state visit.
Most fans would probably have struggled to tell the difference though as the red carpet was rolled out for them, having been invited to Nigeria by Chief of Defense Staff Christopher Musa, the country’s highest-ranking military official.
And they were hosted by Vice-President Francia Márquez in Colombia, where they danced the salsa and kissed in front of the cameras during a tour in which they appeared genuinely happy.
The other major highlight of the year for the couple was the soft launch of Meghan’s lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard.
The duchess sent around samples of jam to a host of A-listers and earned a glowing tribute from Teigen, whose Instagram post read: “We jammin!! This might have been one of the best bites we’ve had all year – all we used is some rustic bread, salted butter, triple cream brie, thick cut bacon and some @americanrivieraorchard jam!
“Took about 8 mins total and made us happy for the entire weekend.”
And in December Harry’s latest Netflix show, Polo, debuted, though the reviews were scathing and it got an audience score of 27 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Harry and Meghan’s 2025
A calm but positive 2024 may well have been exactly what the Sussexes needed after 2023 saw a major backlash over their broadsides against King Charles III‘s monarchy and the collapse of their Spotify deal.
However, 2025 will likely see the end of another era as their Netflix deal is expected to wind up, with Meghan still due to release a new lifestyle show.
There was also previously talk of Harry and Meghan adapting the hit romance novel Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune, though there has been no casting news or release date since the initial reports.
One major question for the couple is what they do once Netflix expires and whether they will try to land a new deal.
The couple have been hanging out with Brian Robbins, Paramount Pictures CEO and Nickelodeon president, and his wife Tracy Robbins, including at the premiere of reggae biopic Bob Marley: One Love, in Jamaica, in January.
Fans may therefore keep an eye on the Sussexes 2025 for any signs they might jump ship to Paramount, which would also allow them to spin the end of their Netflix deal as their decision to depart, rather than the streamer’s decision to terminate a multi-year deal.
Whether they head to Paramount or not though, jumping ship to any other TV platform will inevitably mean negotiating a new deal and that will mean new content.
And TV executives would no doubt want some idea of what that content would be, meaning they would need pitches strong enough to land them the kind of paycheck they need to fund their substantial annual bill for private security.
That process could be a major test of whether the royal bombshells that defined three years of their lives from 2021 to 2023 really are a thing of the past—or whether the need for a new substantial paycheck might force the couple to offer something slightly more compelling than their other non-royal Netflix projects.
Harry & Meghan, in December 2022, flew to the top of the Netflix charts, making it hugely commercially successful, but they were criticized for re-hashing their Oprah Winfrey interview and royal broadsides.
Their other Netflix shows, Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus and Polo, steered clear of controversy but did not cause a major splash, suggesting they have so far failed to demonstrate they have top-tier commercial value outside the royal soap opera.
Another major change for them will be the full launch of American Riviera Orchard, expected in 2025.
Significant time has already passed since the soft launch but Meghan will also be under pressure to get the project right at a time when the couple’s overall brand is perceived as flailing.
The exact shape of the business is not yet clear and it may go significantly further than selling homemade jam.
Fans will be eager to see where Meghan takes it and whether there is a tie-in with the lifestyle show that is expected to hit Netflix.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had a much quieter 12 months than last year.
The Duke of Sussex kicked off 2023 by releasing his autobiography Spare which gave unprecedented insight into his life and his relationships with senior members of the Royal Family.
The book was controversial and was a turning point in his fractured relationship with Prince William.
The brothers have not properly spoken since its release in January 2023 with Princess Kate also having little contact with the Duke of Sussex.

However, this year Prince Harry and Meghan Markle looked to distance themselves from their links to the Royal Family.
The couple hardly mentioned the monarchy and instead opted to pursue careers that centre around themselves as individuals.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex executed two clear strategies in 2024.
The first was to replicate Royal Family tours in all but name, the couple undertook international visits to Nigeria and Colombia together, carrying out multiple engagements across several days.
The tours were successful and helped spread awareness on important issues with some engagements linking to the Duke of Sussex’s Invictus Games.

Away from the international visits, the Sussexes opted for a ‘professional separation’ where they have focused on building their individual brands in the US rather than pursuing power couple status.
Harry and Meghan have undertaken solo engagements across New York and California in recent months.
The Duke of Sussex also carried out international engagements on his own in the UK, southern Africa and Canada during the last six months.
In 2024, Prince Harry returned to the UK several times without Meghan but met with his father King Charles just once during his first visit to London in February.
Since then Harry has not met with the monarch or any senior members of the Royal Family, with just his mother’s side of the family choosing to attend a 10-year anniversary event of the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral in May.
Prince William and Prince Harry were in the same room during their uncle’s funeral several months ago but did not speak to each other according to eyewitnesses.
Part of the Royal Family’s reluctance to engage with the Duke of Sussex may be his upcoming trial against News Group Newspapers which will kick off in January 2025.
Harry is set to appear in the witness box and will be cross-examined by NGN’s lawyers during an appearance in London.
Members of the monarchy will be hoping Harry does not drag them into the court case during his evidence in the High Court.
The Duke of Sussex appeared in ITV’s Tabloids On Trial programme in the summer and during his interview, he ruled out returning to the UK with Meghan Markle and his children while his security provision remains at its current level.

The Duke of Sussex appeared in ITV’s Tabloids On Trial programme in the summer and during his interview, he ruled out returning to the UK with Meghan Markle and his children while his security provision remains at its current level.
His upcoming appeal against a High Court ruling which dismissed his challenge against the decision to downgrade his security will be another case King Charles in particular, will be wary of Prince Harry mentioning the Royal Family.
Just weeks after Harry’s High Court appearance, which is scheduled for January 2025, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to attend the first-ever Winter Invictus Games in Canada.
The event will give a clear indication of how far the couple’s professional separation is set to go with Meghan previously attending the Invictus Games in The Netherlands and Germany with Harry.
Despite a relatively quiet 2024, Prince Harry is set for a very busy start to 2025, whether Meghan opts to accompany him in the UK and Canada is yet to be seen.
As news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family continues to make headlines, many are speculating on what the future holds for the couple.Their recent announcement to pursue a more independent path and focus on their charitable endeavors has undoubtedly created a ripple effect within the royal family and the public. However, amidst all the chaos and uncertainty, some are viewing this professional separation as the calm before the storm.
With tensions running high and rumors swirling about potential rifts within the royal family, it seems as though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to distance themselves from the monarchy may be just the beginning of what could potentially be a tumultuous period for the couple.
As they navigate their new roles and forge their own path, it remains to be seen how their relationship with the royal family will continue to evolve. Will they be able to maintain a cordial relationship with the monarchy, or will their decision to break away ultimately lead to further discord and drama?
Only time will tell what the future holds for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, but one thing is for certain – their professional separation may just be the calm before the storm. Stay tuned as the saga continues to unfold.
