La presidenta de México, Claudia Sheinbaum, dijo que habló con el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, y llegaron a un acuerdo para pausar los aranceles durante un mes a partir de este lunes.

Sheinbaum dijo que el lunes ambas partes también llegaron a acuerdos sobre seguridad y comercio.

México reforzará de inmediato la frontera con 10.000 miembros de su Guardia Nacional, mientras que EE.UU. se comprometió a trabajar para evitar el tráfico de armas de alto poder a México, dijo Sheinbaum.

Trump dijo que acordó “pausar inmediatamente” los aranceles a México durante un mes tras una conversación con Sheinbaum que calificó de “muy amistosa”.

“Acabo de hablar con la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum de México. Fue una conversación muy amistosa en la que ella accedió a suministrar inmediatamente 10.000 soldados mexicanos en la frontera que separa México de Estados Unidos”, escribió Trump en Truth Social.

“Estos soldados serán designados específicamente para detener el flujo de fentanilo y migrantes ilegales en nuestro país”, escribió.

“Acordamos además pausar inmediatamente los aranceles anticipados por un periodo de un mes durante el cual tendremos negociaciones encabezadas por el secretario de Estado, Marco Rubio, el secretario del Tesoro, Scott Bessent, y el secretario de Comercio, Howard Lutnick, y representantes de alto nivel de México. Espero participar en esas negociaciones, con la presidenta Sheinbaum, en nuestro intento por lograr un ‘acuerdo’ entre nuestros dos países”, agregó.

Los aranceles del 25% a México iban a entrar en vigor a medianoche.
