  • What Happened to Hollywood Brown? Examining Why the Chiefs Star WR Missed Nearly the Entire Regular Season

After leading the NFL in dropped passes last season, the Kansas City Chiefs came back this season with a concentrated effort on building a better offense. As a result, drafting wide receiver Xavier Worthy and acquiring Hollywood Brown in free agency was their way to go in the offseason. However, injuries to Brown and Rashee Rice almost didn’t allow that plan to materialize.

Yet, Brown’s return in Week 16 has seen a change to that. Now, the Chiefs’ offense looks as dangerous as ever, with four excellent showings before Week 18. However, let’s take a look back at the terrible luck that caused their star offseason acquisition to miss out on practically the entire season.

Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator
Dive into Pro Football Network’s FREE Mock Draft Simulator and run a mock by yourself or with your friends!

    What Was Hollywood Brown’s Injury?

Coming in with much fanfare, Brown lasted a solitary play in the preseason for the Chiefs. Going up against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he made his first catch from quarterback Patrick Mahomes before landing awkwardly on his shoulder. Immediately, he was taken off the field and placed on injured reserve in September.

Since then, it’s been a long road back for Brown. However, ahead of Week 16, positive news started coming in. Full practices in the week leading up to their game against the Houston Texans was the final indication, and finally, he was back on the field.

What Impact Has Brown Had on the Chiefs?

Even though the team went 13-1 without Brown in the rotation, Kansas City’s offense wasn’t functioning at the same level. Averaging exactly 23.5 points per game, Mahomes wasn’t dishing like he is used to.

A midseason acquisition for DeAndre Hopkins and JuJu Smith-Schuster gave the Chiefs some additional weapons, but since coming back, Brown has been a blessing. While individually he hasn’t blown anyone away, the impact of a downfield threat has opened up the offense.

Brown had 45 and 46 yards, respectively, in his two games against the Texans and the Pittsburgh Steelers on a combined nine catches. More importantly, the Chiefs averaged 28 points in the two games, a major step up from their regular-season average, as well as the highest margin for any two-game sample all season.

Before the Week 18 game against the Denver Broncos, in which the Chiefs trotted out backups galore, they had found their way into the top 10 on PFN’s Offense+ metric. But with an almost fully healthy roster and Worthy coming along nicely as a rookie, vintage Chiefs might be a reality come the playoffs.

Hollywood Brown, the dynamic wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, was expected to be a key player in the team’s offense this season. However, fans were left wondering what happened to Brown as he missed nearly the entire regular season.

Injuries played a major role in Brown’s absence, as he dealt with a lingering hamstring issue that kept him sidelined for multiple games. The Chiefs were cautious with his recovery, not wanting to rush him back onto the field and risk further injury.

Off-field issues also contributed to Brown’s extended absence, as he reportedly had some personal matters to attend to that required his full attention. The team respected his privacy and allowed him to take the time he needed to address these issues.

Despite missing a significant portion of the regular season, Brown’s talent and potential were never in question. When he finally returned to the field, he showed flashes of his playmaking ability and helped the Chiefs secure crucial victories down the stretch.

As the playoffs approach, all eyes will be on Hollywood Brown to see if he can make a big impact and help lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl championship. His resilience and determination in overcoming adversity will surely be a source of inspiration for his teammates and fans alike.

  • For many Notre Dame fans, no stop on a magical College Football Playoff run can be missed

Dan Carter didn’t pack because he didn’t plan to spend the night in New Orleans. He boarded his flight from Los Angeles dressed for kickoff in a full leprechaun suit, plaid top hat, green bowtie and yellow vest. After the Sugar Bowl, Carter would head straight to the airport for home. He’d already made the trip to South Bend for the first round against Indiana two weeks earlier.

That leprechaun jacket ripped while Carter did pushups after Jeremiyah Love’s 98-yard touchdown. His wife, Tiffany Caterina, patched it because if Notre Dame beat SEC champion Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, Carter knew Penn State in Miami was next. And then on to Atlanta.

“I had the first boarding group and no one wanted to sit with me,” Carter said. “You’re like first class if you’re dressed like a total weirdo.”

Not until after touching down in New Orleans did Carter learn about the attack on Bourbon Street that postponed the Sugar Bowl by a day. He bought a toothbrush and new underwear. He rebooked the flight home. The leprechaun suit stayed because that’s how fandom functions. You don’t mess with what’s working, not when you’re along for this wildest of rides during this most magical of seasons.

Count Carter among the hundreds of Notre Dame fans with perfect postseason attendance, watching Marcus Freeman’s program check every College Football Playoff box with soul en route to Monday night’s national title game against Ohio State. The ’06 graduate is so devoted he built his honeymoon to Paris around a stop in Dublin to watch Notre Dame blow out Navy to open last season. Now he’ll see the Irish play for their first national championship in 36 years. He doesn’t like to think about the cost of all of this, even if he’s picked up the tickets at face value.

And how much is a memory worth, anyhow?

“I didn’t debate anything,” Carter said. “It’s been a blur.”

Dan Carter hasn’t hesitated to travel to all four Notre Dame CFP games. (Courtesy of Dan Carter)

Michele Cahill and her husband, Matt, hopped on the highway home to Chicago after the Indiana game wondering what they’d just watched. And the ’07 graduates knew they wanted more of it. They texted friends, booked flights and arranged child care for their 9- and 7-year-old sons. They convinced friends to go along for the ride, a barnstorming alumni reunion to New Orleans and Miami before the road ends in Atlanta.

They chased this panic attack together, watching the kind of season that couldn’t exist before the 12-team CFP asked fans to crisscross the country to watch.

“Matt has been so calm and I’m like, ‘Where’s the vomit bag?’” said Michele, who refuses to wear Irish gear at games because the last time she did Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois. “You keep going because you keep believing you’re going to get over that hump and anything is possible.”

What does it cost to follow your team in the College Football Playoff?

During the Orange Bowl, when Riley Leonard left the game to be checked for a head injury, Michele texted back her mom back in Chicago, where she was watching their boys. She told 9-year-old Michael to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a good luck snack for Notre Dame’s backup quarterback. Steve Angeli led a field goal drive to help save the season. Michael ate the sandwich. Notre Dame rallied to beat Penn State on a game-winning field goal by Mitch Jeter.

Before Jeter’s 41-yard field goal tucked inside the right upright, Quinn Denvir and Jimmy Suszka took out the green rabbit’s foot they inherited a week earlier at the Sugar Bowl. The ’20 gradates made the Indiana game, then traveled to New Orleans with laminated rosters to help follow Notre Dame’s 23-10 win over Georgia, the program’s first major bowl of their lifetimes.

A row in front of them in the Superdome, Notre Dame fan Shelly Seaver kept rubbing that rabbit’s foot for good luck, a counter to her husband’s rooting allegiance to Georgia. Seaver appreciated those laminated rosters as a true sign of fandom. As the game tilted toward Notre Dame, she confided in Denvir and Suszka that she wouldn’t make it to Miami. But the plush trinket should travel. Would they mind taking it?

“Some would call this mad,” Denvir said.

Suszka wanted to break out the rabbit’s foot when Notre Dame fell behind early. And when Nicholas Singleton gave Penn State a fourth-quarter lead. Denvir insisted it should be used for field goals only. Jeter went 5-of-5 on field goals against Georgia and Penn State, all from 40 yards or longer.

“I’m not saying it’s all due to the rabbit’s foot,” Denvir said. “But I’m not not gonna rub it when Jeter comes out Monday.”

Denvir grew up on Notre Dame football around Chicago and started going to games in a stroller when his father Robert (’67) brought the family to campus. Robert won’t be in Atlanta on Monday night, refusing to mess with the karma established by his son’s roll alongside friend Suszka. Notre Dame won a national title in the fall of Robert’s senior year. He attended the clinching bowls that got the Irish over the top in 1973, 1977 and 1988, too.

“He’s seen so many championships his lifetime. I’m desperate for one,” said Denvir, who’s attended every Notre Dame game, home and away, the past two years. “I think about singing the alma mater after the game and being with people you might not know, but you feel like you’re a team on a very broad level. You don’t need to go to Notre Dame to share in this.”

Quinn Denvir, right, has attended every Irish game for two years. (Courtesy of Quinn Denvir)

Terry MacCauley didn’t, although he studied to be a priest at Saint Meinrad College in Indiana. His grandfather worked in development at Notre Dame, long ago enough that he helped raise the money to build the Hesburgh Library. He’s been a season ticket holder the past seven seasons. He’s hit all three Playoff games and will be in Atlanta for the national championship game with his son Riley.

Father and son went to Miami 12 years ago for the BCS title game against Alabama when Notre Dame was blown away 42-14, although they never made it into the stadium, watching from a tailgate in the parking lot instead. Riley was a middle school kid back then. Now he’s an accountant taking PTO to travel with his dad from St. Louis.

MacCauley landed tickets for all four rounds through the season ticket allotment, a total of 22 tickets that cost $8,500. If he had to sell any, he made sure they went to Notre Dame fans for face value. MacCauley said the hardest pill to swallow on the journey was flights and hotels. But it still went down.

“I think this team has taught all of us something,” MacCauley said. “This team just doesn’t quit. We all draw on sports to help get through some of the crap in life. That’s why we watch.”

MacCauley remembers playing youth league football back in 1988, a third-grader thinking the Notre Dame football he watched that season would be the Notre Dame football he got to watch the rest of his life. It hasn’t worked out that way, which is why he wouldn’t miss a chance to see a national championship actually happen on Monday night from his lower-level seats in the end zone.

He doesn’t want to think about what it would feel like to see Freeman lift a national championship trophy. But he can’t not think about it, either.

“Not to steal from Lou Holtz, but if you have to explain Notre Dame football, you wouldn’t get it,” MacCauley said. “Some people for Christmas choose different things. I choose Notre Dame football. It’s my own gift to myself. And once you have someone with you at a Playoff game, people get it. This is why you go.”

Tiffany Stratton’s time as WWE’s Money in the Bank briefcase holder has been full of twists and turns, but the 25-year-old star has yet to grab her golden opportunity. Her latest attempt on Friday Night SmackDown was derailed by Candice LeRae, who snatched the briefcase at the critical moment. While Tiffany’s struggles have kept fans intrigued, some are beginning to lose patience with the drawn-out storyline.

Vince Russo Criticizes WWE’s Booking of Tiffany Stratton

Wrestling analyst Vince Russo didn’t hold back on his podcast BroDown on Backstage Pass, attacking WWE’s handling of Tiffany’s Money in the Bank storyline. He claimed that the constant teasing of her cash-in is wearing thin.
“The more and more and more you tease this going to be when it happens because people will lose interest. It’s been going on for too long,” Russo said
The above statement expressed concerns that fans might lose interest if WWE continues delaying her moment.
Russo also took issue with how Tiffany’s character is being illustrated in her ongoing feud with Candice LeRae.
He added, “It kills her character and you know you when you look at her, she can do some damage. But when she’s, you know, letting this little 100lbs LeRae run—that’s what I’m talking about, bro.”
Adding to the drama is Tiffany’s complicated alliance with WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax. Once a hard-to-separate duo, the two now seem at odds. At a WWE live event, Tiffany tried to cash in her briefcase while Jax was down, but the champion quickly retaliated, smashing the briefcase and stopping the cash-in attempt.
Earlier this year, Nia Jax handled their relationship in an interview with Game Rant.
She dismissed concerns about betrayal, saying, “Tiffany would never betray me, and we’ll go after more gold together.”
On SmackDown, Candice LeRae’s interference cost Tiffany another opportunity at glory. Just as Tiffany prepared to cash in on Nia Jax, Candice snatched the briefcase, diverting Tiffany long enough for Naomi to hit her finisher and secure the win for her team of Bayley and Bianca Belair.

  • Jessica Chastain’s Reflections on Twilight: Missed Chances and Lessons Learned

Jessica Chastain’s Reflections on Twilight: Missed Chances and Lessons Learned

Jessica Chastain, the acclaimed actress known for her roles in films such as “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Help,” recently opened up about her thoughts on the blockbuster franchise “Twilight.” In a candid interview, Chastain reflected on the missed opportunities and lessons learned from not being a part of the iconic series.

Chastain revealed that she was approached for a role in “Twilight” early on in her career but ultimately turned it down. She expressed regret over the decision, admitting that she didn’t fully understand the impact the franchise would have on popular culture and the opportunities it would bring to those involved.

“I was young and naive at the time, and I didn’t realize the potential of ‘Twilight’ and what it could mean for my career,” Chastain said. “Looking back, I see now that it was a missed chance to be a part of something that resonated so deeply with audiences around the world.”

Despite her regrets, Chastain emphasized the importance of learning from missed opportunities and using them as motivation to make better choices in the future. She acknowledged that turning down “Twilight” taught her valuable lessons about the importance of taking risks and seizing opportunities when they arise.

“I’ve learned that you can’t dwell on the past and the choices you didn’t make,” Chastain said. “Instead, you have to focus on the present and the opportunities that are in front of you. Every decision, whether good or bad, shapes your journey and helps you grow as an artist.”

Chastain also praised the actors who did star in “Twilight,” including Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, for their performances and the impact they had on the franchise. She commended their dedication to their roles and the way they brought the characters to life on screen.

“Kristen and Robert did an incredible job with their roles in ‘Twilight,’ and I have a lot of respect for them as actors,” Chastain said. “Their performances helped make the franchise the success that it was, and they will always be remembered for their contributions to the series.”

As Chastain continues to build her own impressive career in Hollywood, she remains grateful for the lessons she has learned from her past experiences, including the missed opportunity of being a part of “Twilight.” She hopes to inspire others to take risks, embrace challenges, and never be afraid to pursue their dreams, no matter the outcome.

In the end, Jessica Chastain’s reflections on “Twilight” serve as a reminder that every decision we make, whether big or small, shapes our journey and helps us grow as individuals. And while she may have missed out on a chance to be a part of a cultural phenomenon, Chastain’s career continues to thrive, proving that there are always more opportunities on the horizon.

  • The Twilight Casting Controversy: Jessica Chastain’s Missed Opportunity

The Twilight Casting Controversy: Jessica Chastain’s Missed Opportunity

In the world of Hollywood, casting controversies are not uncommon. From whitewashing to lack of diversity, the film industry has faced its fair share of backlash when it comes to casting decisions. One such controversy that has recently resurfaced is the casting of Jessica Chastain in the popular Twilight franchise.

Back in 2008, when the first Twilight film was in production, Jessica Chastain was reportedly in talks to play the role of vampire Alice Cullen. However, for reasons that are still unclear, Chastain ultimately did not land the role, which eventually went to actress Ashley Greene.

Many fans and critics have since pointed out that Chastain would have been a perfect fit for the role of Alice Cullen. Known for her versatility and acting prowess, Chastain has proven time and again that she can tackle a wide range of characters with ease. Her ethereal beauty and natural charm would have undoubtedly brought a new level of depth to the character of Alice.

Furthermore, Chastain’s star power has only continued to rise in the years since the Twilight casting debacle. She has received critical acclaim for her performances in films such as Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, and Molly’s Game, earning multiple Academy Award nominations along the way. It’s not hard to imagine the impact that her presence could have had on the Twilight franchise, both in terms of box office success and critical reception.

But beyond the missed opportunity for Chastain herself, the casting controversy also highlights a larger issue within the film industry. The fact that a talented actress like Chastain was passed over for a role in a major franchise raises questions about the casting process and the lack of diversity in Hollywood.

In recent years, there has been a growing push for more diverse representation in film and television, both in front of and behind the camera. While progress has certainly been made, there is still much work to be done to ensure that actors of all backgrounds are given equal opportunities in the industry.

As for Jessica Chastain, she has since moved on from the Twilight casting controversy and continued to build an impressive career for herself. But one can’t help but wonder what could have been if she had been given the chance to sink her teeth into the role of Alice Cullen.

In the end, the Twilight casting controversy serves as a reminder that casting decisions can have a lasting impact on a film and its legacy. It also underscores the importance of diversity and representation in Hollywood, and the need for casting directors to consider all actors, regardless of their background, when making decisions about who to cast in a project.

‘You’ll be missed’… Israel Adesanya, Dan Hooker and more UFC stars pay tribute after shock death of 26-year-old fighter

The sudden death of an MMA prospect has rocked Israel Adesanya and several other UFC stars.

Hakaraia Wilson has died aged 26. The Kiwi fighter was in Gisborne, New Zealand to attend a three-day music festival called Rhythm and Vines.

Police found his body when they were called to attend to a sudden death, with a spokesperson saying, “The death is not suspicious and has been referred to the coroner.”

Now the MMA community is mourning the shocking loss of a potential star just days after boxing fans were stunned by the sudden death of Paul Bamba.

UFC stars pay tribute to Hakaraia Wilson

Wilson started his MMA career in 2020. The welterweight fighter won six times and lost just once during his amateur run, which came to an end in 2023.

As a professional, he boasted a record of four wins and three losses. Wilson’s final MMA fight saw him beat Mark Alcoba by technical knockout in Bali last October.

Israel Adesanya paid tribute by posting a video of Wilson on his Instagram story.

UFC Flyweight contender Kai Kara-France said: “Heartbreaking! Fly high my Maori. Too many of our young tane taken too soon.’”

UFC light heavyweight star Carlos Ulberg, who is currently preparing to face ex-champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC London in March, simply posted a photo of Wilson celebrating after one of his MMA wins.

    Who was Hakaraia Wilson?

Wilson told his MMA story in a 2020 interview with Te Ao Māori News. It began at a very early age with some guidance from his father, who was also a fighter and helped his son become skilled in Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, karate, and kickboxing.

“I started getting into fighting under the guidance of my dad,” Wilson said.

“He was a fighter back in the day and, as I was growing up, I’d go to his training and watch him.

“From then I knew what I wanted to do and so, without my dad I probably wouldn’t have chosen to do this sport.”

After his final MMA win, he posted a positive message about bouncing back from defeat in empathic fashion.

“Took an L in May, learned from it & turned da page,” Wilson wrote on Instagram.

“Been waiting a minute for a chance to wash dat taste out of my mouth n show how much I’ve grown. Shout out to my coaches n my people for havin my back thru it all. Forever in debt.

    “I love this s*** & I’m here to stay.”

  • SoFi’s Meteoric Rise: Have Investors Missed the Boat?

SoFi’s Meteoric Rise: Have Investors Missed the Boat?

SoFi Technologies (SOFI) has experienced a remarkable surge in its stock price, driven by impressive revenue growth, expanding margins, and a strategic shift towards a balanced and diversified business model. Despite the significant increase in revenue and the company’s rich valuation, there are appealing reasons to believe that SoFi’s growth story is far from over. To answer the question posed in the title – it seems that despite the company’s high valuation, SOFI stock hasn’t yet reached its ceiling, and its prospects still look very promising.

Don’t Miss Our New Year’s Offers:

Let’s examine, in short, why the boat is still at the dock through the company’s financials, potential growth, strategic business model, valuation, and Tipranks’ Smart Score:

    • Impressive Financial Performance and Growth: SoFi Technologies has demonstrated exceptional financial performance. Its net revenues hit a record $697 million in Q3 2024, marking a 30% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is driven by significant contributions from its financial services and tech platform segments, which saw a combined 64% revenue boost year-over-year. Additionally, SoFi’s adjusted EBITDA margin has expanded to 27% from 18% a year ago, indicating improved operational efficiency and profitability.
    • Strategic Business Model Transformation: SoFi has shifted its business model from heavily relying on lending to a more balanced approach. This transformation is evident in the substantial growth of its financial services segment, which posted a 102% revenue increase in Q3 2024. The company’s one-stop-shop model encourages cross-buying among its members, enhancing customer engagement and increasing monetization per member with minimal promotional spending.
    • Market Sentiment, Valuation, and Smart Score: Despite the impressive financial performance, market sentiment towards SoFi remains mixed. While the stock has risen 152% over the past six months, some analysts maintain a cautious approach, with a Hold rating and an average price target suggesting potential downside. However, the strong earnings growth and positive news sentiment indicate that SoFi’s rich valuation reflects its growth potential rather than being a warning sign. Another factor worth examining is Sofi’s Smart Score of 7 on Tipranks. Based on analysts’ consensus of a Hold and bullish blogger sentiment, this suggests a neutral position on the stock going forward. What dampers the stock’s final ratings are hedge fund trends and insider transactions, with a decrease of 2.2 million shares in the last quarter and insider shares worth $498.8 million being sold in the last three months.

Is SoFi a Buy or Sell?

On Wall Street, Sofi’s is a Hold. The average price target of SOFI stock is $11.46, reflecting a 25.34% downside potential.

    See more SOFI analyst ratings

    Takeaway

Sofi has had an incredible journey so far, growing rapidly and becoming one of the largest players in the finance world. It has grown so fast that fears have emerged whether the company has reached its limit. However, Sofi’s fundamentals say otherwise, and the company looks very well positioned to continue its growth journey in 2025.

SoFi, the fintech company known for its online lending and personal finance services, has been on a meteoric rise in recent years. The company’s stock price has more than doubled in the past year, and its market cap has surged to over $20 billion. With its expanding range of services, including student loan refinancing, mortgage lending, and investment management, SoFi has positioned itself as a major player in the financial technology industry.

But the question on many investors’ minds is: Have they missed the boat on SoFi’s growth potential? With the stock price already at all-time highs, some investors may be hesitant to jump in at this point. However, others argue that SoFi still has plenty of room to grow, especially as it continues to expand its offerings and reach new customers.

One thing is clear: SoFi has been a standout performer in the fintech space, and its rapid growth has caught the attention of both retail and institutional investors. Whether or not investors have missed the boat on SoFi’s meteoric rise remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain – this company is one to watch in the coming years.

  • A day of missed chances and missed stance

    INDIA TOUR OF AUSTRALIA, 2024-25

India's path to victory is far harder than it should have been, after a few costly misses from Jaiswal

Thoda jhuk ja na yaar…(Just bend down a little more)”

Rohit Sharma sounded like he was done playing the bad cop in the situation. The Indian captain had by then asked Yashasvi Jaiswal to bend down and get lower in his stance at short-leg on a few occasions. Quite sternly too. He had also by then reacted pretty angrily to Jaiswal dropping the second of his three sitters on the day. At gully, off Marnus Labuschagne, after he’d flashed at a wide length delivery from Akash Deep.

But now as a flick from Pat Cummins went past Jaiswal, to his left, at short-leg, you could hear Rohit sound almost like he was requesting his young opener to heed to his rather valid suggestion. Rishabh Pant had played good cop all along, putting an arm around Jaiswal after he spilled the easy opportunity of Labuschagne, even as Rohit turned his back at first slip.

And Pant too had asked Jaiswal to stay lower in his position on a few occasions, even if the 23-year-old didn’t quite do it satisfactorily enough. But even the soft-spoken wicketkeeper though couldn’t hold back the anguish in his voice as Jaiswal let slip a third opportunity, as straightforward as the first two, this time at silly-point when Cummins poked at a Ravindra Jadeja delivery and hit it straight into the youngster’s hands.

Rohit didn’t say much. He just stood with his hands on his head. Fortunately for Jaiswal, the tea-break was only a few deliveries later, and while a couple of his teammates did put an arm around him, his captain walked away without even turning around.

It was symbolic of the fourth day’s play at the MCG, as India continued to create opportunities to really get themselves into a position of strength, but somehow kept letting them slip. Only to finish in a position from where they could still pull off a dramatic fifth day victory. But not quite in the kind of position they could have been in, where an memorable comeback Test win would have seemed more probable than possible.

It’ll obviously be rather unfair to squarely blame Jaiswal for it. And the visitors will dare to dream, despite their target as it stands a mighty 334. But there were moments on Sunday at the MCG, when India really could have taken a stranglehold on a Test that they’ve been playing catch-up in from pretty much the moment Cummins won the toss and elected to bat.

While the spotlight shone the brightest on Sam Konstas as Australia commenced their second innings, it was snuffed out quite quickly by Jasprit Bumrah who got his own back after having been taken down by the young debutant in the first innings. From there, it was a question of whether Australia could manage to keep their head and build on their impressive first innings lead of 105 runs, or if there could be a twist.

And as they slumped to 6/91, on the back of the umpteenth magic spell from Bumrah, as he knocked out Travis Head, Mitch Marsh and Alex Carey, the prospect of a third innings wobble was fast turning into a slip-up. Before it finally finished as a mere slip in the end. Firstly, thanks to the Labuschagne-Cummins stand of 57 before the unlikeliest partnership of significance for the last wicket between Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland, which still stands unbeaten on 55.

But it could have been so different. If only Jaiswal had held on to the catches, especially those of Labuschagne and Cummins. If only the other bowlers could have found a way of complementing Bumrah as he continued to run roughshod over the Australian batting line-up.

Mohammad Siraj certainly had done so earlier in the day. It was an inspired spell from India’s No. 2 seamer. Siraj had started in quite ordinary fashion, with two expensive overs. It wasn’t just the runs though, and more the manner in which he’d lifted the pressure off the Australian batters, Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja, who were allowed to score easily on both sides of the wicket.

It led to a very animated chat from Rohit during the drinks break that followed, along with an arm around the shoulder from Bumrah.

It was a motivated Siraj who resumed his spell after the break. He started with setting Khawaja up in brilliant fashion, firstly by repeatedly beating the left-hander on multiple occasions by using the over the wicket angle to slide deliveries away from him. Before slipping in fuller delivery that straightened and bowled Khawaja through the gate.

It was Siraj again who broke the next major partnership, this time between Labuschagne and Steve Smith, by floating a full and wide delivery that the first innings centurion followed and was caught behind. And it was Siraj who once more trapped Labuschagne in front with a ball that kept slightly low and skidded through after pitching, just when the Queensland captain looked set to turn his 70 into a bigger score while taking the Test completely away from India.

When he was dismissed, Australia were ahead by 253 runs, with India still very much at equal footing to go 2-1 ahead in this dramatic Border Gavaskar Trophy series. But through Cummins first, followed by the Lyon-Boland pairing, Australia managed to add a further 80 runs to their total, and finish the penultimate day with their noses certainly ahead.

India could still retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy in what promises to be a scintillating finish on Day 5 at the ‘G. It won’t be easy. It will still be quite a historic win if they get there. But it could have been easier. If only Jaiswal had bent down a little lower, like his captain had asked him to. If only India had found a way to make the most of their chances.

Today was a day filled with missed chances and missed opportunities. It seemed like every time I tried to take a step forward, something would happen to push me two steps back.

I woke up this morning feeling motivated and ready to tackle the day, but as soon as I stepped out the door, I missed my bus by a mere second. I had to wait for the next one, which made me late for work.

Throughout the day, I had several opportunities to speak up in a meeting and share my ideas, but I hesitated and let them slip away. I could feel the regret building inside me with each missed chance.

As the day went on, I realized that I had been missing the bigger picture. I had been so focused on the little things that I had lost sight of my goals and aspirations. I had let fear and doubt hold me back from taking risks and seizing opportunities.

But as the day came to a close, I made a promise to myself to not let missed chances define me. I vowed to take more risks, speak up when necessary, and embrace every opportunity that comes my way.

So, even though today was a day of missed chances and missed stance, I choose to see it as a lesson learned. Tomorrow is a new day, filled with endless possibilities, and I will not let fear hold me back any longer.

  • IRS Will Mail Checks To Over One Million Taxpayers Who Missed Out On Stimulus Payments

IRS Will Mail Checks To Over One Million Taxpayers Who Missed Out On Stimulus Payments

Does the Internal Revenue Service owe you money?

The IRS says that over one million taxpayers may have missed out on the Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC) claimed on their 2021 tax returns. The agency is now taking steps to mail those out. While the amounts may vary, the maximum payment is $1,400 per individual. The estimated amount of payments going out will be about $2.4 billion.

    Background

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, enacted in early March 2021, provided Economic Impact Payments (EIPs or stimulus payments) of up to $1,400 for eligible individuals or $2,800 for married couples filing jointly, plus $1,400 for each qualifying dependent, including adult dependents.

The credit amount was subject to a phaseout—the amount was reduced if your adjusted gross income was more than $75,000 (or $150,000 for married couples filing jointly). The 2021 RRC amount was entirely reduced to $0 for taxpayers with an adjusted gross income of $80,000 or more ($160,000 or more for married couples filing jointly). That means some individuals couldn’t claim the 2021 RRC even if they received a 2020 stimulus payment. (These EIPs were in addition to payments mailed out in 2020 as part of the CARES Act.)

The payments were advance payments of the 2021 RRC claimed on a 2021 tax return. That means that payments landed in mailboxes and bank accounts in advance of the 2021 tax filing season. The IRS began issuing the third round of EIPs in March 2021 and continued through December 2021.

Taxpayers who did not receive the payments in 2021 (or only received a small payment) could claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 federal income tax returns when they filed in 2022.

Why Are We Hearing About It Now?

After reviewing internal data, the IRS determined that many eligible taxpayers filed a return but did not claim the credit. Qualified taxpayers are those who filed a 2021 tax return, but left the RRC field blank or filled out $0 when they were actually eligible for the credit.

(Initially, the IRS said it would not calculate the RRC for you or correct your entry if you enter $0 or leave the line blank for the credit.)

As a result of the review, the IRS will issue automatic payments to those taxpayers who filed a return and were eligible for the credit but did not claim it.

What Do You Need To Do?

You don’t need to do anything. Payments will go out automatically in December and should arrive by late January 2025. The payments will be automatically direct deposited or sent by paper check—eligible taxpayers will also receive a separate letter notifying them of the payment.

“The IRS continues to work hard to make improvements and help taxpayers,” said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel. “These payments are an example of our commitment to go the extra mile for taxpayers. Looking at our internal data, we realized that one million taxpayers overlooked claiming this complex credit when they were actually eligible. To minimize headaches and get this money to eligible taxpayers, we’re making these payments automatic, meaning these people will not be required to go through the extensive process of filing an amended return to receive it.”

    Am I Eligible If I Didn’t File A 2021 Tax Return?

Maybe. But, the IRS will not automatically send you a payment if you didn’t file a return. If you didn’t file a 2021 tax return and were eligible for the credit, you have until April 15, 2025, to file and claim the credit and any other refund you might be owed.

How Will I Receive My Payment?

The payment will be sent to the bank account listed on your 2023 tax return or to the address of record.

The IRS will send a letter to taxpayers receiving these 2021 RRC payments. If you have closed your bank account since filing your 2023 tax return, don’t worry—the bank will return the payment to the IRS and the refund will be reissued to the address of record.

Will I Have to Pay Federal Income Tax On The Payment?

The RRC is not taxable for federal purposes.

Will I Lose Federal Benefits If I Receive A Payment?

No. The RRC does not count as income when determining eligibility for federal benefits such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

Do I Need A Social Security Number (SSN)?

Generally, yes. You must have a valid SSN or claim a dependent with a valid SSN or Adoption Taxpayer Identification Number issued by the IRS to claim the credit.

If you file jointly with your spouse and only one individual has a valid SSN, you can claim up to $1,400 for the spouse with a valid SSN and up to $1,400 for each qualifying dependent claimed on the tax return.

If neither spouse has a valid SSN, you can claim only up to $1,400 for each qualifying dependent claimed on the tax return.

There’s an exception: If either spouse is an active member of the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the taxable year, only one spouse needs to have a valid SSN for the couple to receive up to $2,800 for themselves, plus up to $1,400 for each qualifying dependent.

What Happens If I Haven’t Filed My 2021 Return Yet And Don’t Do Before The Filing Deadline?

You’ll lose your right to the payment. To claim any refund, you generally must file your tax return within three years from the date the return was due (including extensions if you requested the extension by the due date) to get that refund. This includes any 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit amount included in your refund.

Did you miss out on receiving your stimulus payment earlier this year? If so, you may be in luck. The IRS has announced that they will be mailing checks to over one million taxpayers who did not receive their full stimulus payments.

This move comes after the IRS discovered that some individuals did not receive the correct amount of money they were entitled to under the various stimulus packages passed by the government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you are one of the taxpayers who missed out on receiving your full stimulus payment, keep an eye on your mailbox in the coming weeks. The IRS will be sending out checks to those who are owed money, so be sure to cash them as soon as possible.

This is great news for those who may have fallen through the cracks and missed out on receiving their stimulus payments. The IRS is working hard to ensure that everyone who is entitled to financial assistance during these challenging times receives the help they need.
