Al-Nassr are ready to offer a package worth $112 million for Kaoru Mitoma after seeing an opening bid rejected by Brighton. The initial offer, worth $67 million, was rejected by the Seagulls but Mitoma is the first choice at the Saudi Pro League side as they look to strengthen their options on the wing.
However, with their transfer deadline looming on Friday, Al-Nassr are eager to get their man with sources close to the club indicating the lucrative bid is expected to be submitted in the coming hours. A senior delegation from the club has traveled to the United Kingdom to secure the deal while also tying up an $80 million deal for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.
Brighton are said to be reluctant to lose one of their most important players. Whether such a high fee would change that stance remains unclear. Mitoma, whose current Brighton contract expires in 2027, joined from Kawasaki Frontale of Japan in 2021. He would subsequently establish himself in the Seagulls’ side after a loan spell in Belgium. Across 92 appearances in all competitions, he has delivered 18 goals and 16 assists, earning a reputation as one of the Premier League’s best left wingers.
Any move for Mitoma could see Sadio Mane depart Al-Nassr, who attempted to move on from the Senegal international in the summer to no avail.

Brighton will now have a tough decision to make as they weigh up the financial benefits of selling Mitoma against the potential loss of a promising young talent.

Kaoru Mitoma: Brighton reject £54m bid for winger from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr | Football News
Brighton have rejected an offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr for winger Kaoru Mitoma worth £54m (€65m).
It is understood the Japan international is not for sale.
Al Nassr’s move for Mitoma follows the Saudi Pro League side agreeing a £64m deal for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.
Al Nassr’s deal for the Colombia international is part of a new Saudi strategy to focus on singing young and developing players rather than being regarded as a retirement home for ageing superstars.
Now the club Cristiano Ronaldo plays for are eyeing a move for another Premier League player in Mitoma.
The 27-year-old joined the Seagulls from Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale in 2021 for a reported £2.7m before spending the 2021/22 season on loan at Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise.
Mitoma made his Brighton debut in August 2022 has since made 92 appearances in all competitions, scoring 18 goals.
Mitoma has played in all 23 Premier League games for Fabian Hurzeler’s side this season and has netted five goals.
Ronaldo behind moves for Mitoma and Duran?
Sky Sports News’ chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol speaking on The Transfer Show:
“Cristiano Ronaldo plays for Al Nassr, who are one of the four clubs in Saudi Arabia owned by the sovereign wealth fund so they are one of the richest clubs in Saudi Arabia.
“Even though they’ve got Ronaldo, they have not really been challenging for the title. Al Hilal are the best team in Saudi Arabia at the moment so I wonder whether Ronaldo has been putting a bit of pressure on the people upstairs at Al Nassr and saying, ‘I want to win more titles and trophies’, as he turns 40 next week.
“This is maybe why they’re going for top players like Jhon Duran and Mitoma.”

Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr have approached Brighton & Hove Albion with a formal offer to recruit winger Kaoru Mitoma.
The proposal submitted to the Premier League side for Japan international Mitoma is worth €65million but has been formally rejected.
Al Nassr are working to complete the signing of striker Jhon Duran from Aston Villa and have made Mitoma, 27, the top target to fulfil their aim of bolstering in the wide attacking areas.
Mitoma last signed a new contract at Brighton in October 2023 and is under contract until June 2027.
He joined the English team from Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale in 2021 and spent the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Union Saint-Gilloise, the Belgian club which shares a majority owner with Brighton.
After scoring eight goals in 29 appearances for USG, Mitoma returned to Brighton for the 2022-23 season and registered 10 goals and eight assists in 41 games. Last term, Mitoma struggled with injuries and played only 19 times in the Premier League.
This season, Mitoma has featured in every league game for Fabian Hurzeler’s side and has five goals and three assists in those 23 games.

Brighton are next in action against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Striker Evan Ferguson is also attracting interest and Brighton are open to the 20-year-old’s permanent departure.
Al Nassr, meanwhile, are fourth in the Saudi Pro League, eight points behind leaders Al Hilal. Stefano Pioli’s squad contains several names familiar to followers of European football, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Aymeric Laporte and Sadio Mane.
How likely is it Brighton consider selling Mitoma?
Analysis from Brighton correspondent Andy Naylor
Brighton’s policy on sales remains consistent. Both the price and the circumstances have to be right for them.
If both of those criteria are not met, they will not do business.
For example, Arsenal made several attempts to buy Moises Caicedo in the January 2023 transfer window.
Brighton resisted, because the bids were too low and they did not want to lose the midfielder during the season. Caicedo went to Chelsea that summer for a British record fee of £115m.
Brighton still have aspirations to qualify for Europe this season and Mitoma is their No 1 left-winger, with no supporting depth.
They would not countenance losing him in January, especially so close to the end of the window, unless it was a mind-blowing sum. The summer could be different.

Reports are circulating that Brighton’s talented midfielder, Kaoru Mitoma, has been the subject of a whopping €65 million approach from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. The 24-year-old Japanese player has been a standout performer for Brighton this season, impressing fans and scouts alike with his skill and creativity on the pitch.Mitoma’s potential move to Al Nassr would see him join a growing list of top players making the move to the Middle East in recent years. The hefty transfer fee being offered is a testament to Mitoma’s talent and potential, and it’s no surprise that clubs are vying for his signature.
Brighton fans will undoubtedly be disappointed at the prospect of losing Mitoma, but the financial windfall from the transfer could help the club strengthen in other areas. It remains to be seen whether Mitoma will accept the offer from Al Nassr, but one thing is for sure – his future in football looks bright.
