PHOENIX — It has been a gorgeous MLK Day weekend in the Valley!

Our clear and sunny skies will continue Monday with highs in the mid-60s. Meanwhile, the wind will remain calm for the Valley but will start picking up late Monday into Tuesday.

Morning temperatres will still be chilly as overnight lows drop into the upper 30s to low 40s across the Valley.

Winds are set to pick up across northern and western Arizona Monday and Tuesday. This is due to a storm system passing to our northeast.

A Wind Advisory will go into effect at 9 a.m. MST Monday for areas along the Colorado River. This includes Lake Havasu City and Bullhead City. Winds will gust up to 45 mph. The advisory will expire at 7 p.m. MST on Tuesday.

As that storm system passes to our northeast early next week, it will reinforce cool air across the state through midweek. Expect the high country to see morning lows widely drop into the single digits and some areas below zero.

With winds remaining breezy Monday and Tuesday, we will contend with some wind chill issues in the high country, make sure to stay bundled up even in the afternoon as wind chills will be in the teens in the high country. By Tuesday morning many areas will wake up to wind chills well below zero.

As our forecast stays dry, Phoenix will continue adding days to the current dry streak.

Sunday marked the 150th day in a row without measurable rain at Phoenix Sky Harbor. That’s the second-longest dry streak on record! The all-time record, set in 1972, is 160 days in a row without measurable rain and that may be in jeopardy in the weeks ahead.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Temperatures will remain slightly below normal for Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the mid-60s.

It will be a cool start, with temperatures in the 30s tomorrow morning across the Valley.

A dry weather system will drop across the region and kick up the wind, mainly in western Arizona. A Wind Advisory is in effect Monday and Tuesday along the California-Arizona border, including Lake Havasu and Yuma, where winds could gust to 45 mph.

This will also leave our state with cold morning lows, near freezing, for the deserts on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, so bundle up!

We are stuck between two different systems: a trough over most of the central and eastern US, with a ridge of high pressure to our west.

While a large portion of the U.S. is dealing with the major impacts of this arctic air, we will cool to the lower 60s Tuesday, then return to mid-60s Wednesday, and we’re back into the 70s by the weekend.

A system could bring in a very slight chance for rain over the next weekend, we will keep a close eye on this, and be the first to alert you to any changes.

  • Stephen Curry’s record, stats, and history on NBA MLK Day

Stephen Curry has struggled to make a mark in Christmas Day games, but how does he fare on Martin Luther King Jr. Day? Let’s find out!

Stephen Curry hasn’t had the same luck on Christmas Day as he has on other major NBA holidays. But how does he stack up on Martin Luther King Jr. Day? As the Golden State Warriors prepare to play their 32nd MLK Day game against the Boston Celtics, let’s take a closer look at Curry’s history on this special day.

Stephen Curry’s overall stats on MLK Day

While Curry has not enjoyed a great success on Christmas Day games, he has an impressive record on MLK Day games. Out of the 11 games Curry has played on MLK Day, he has helped his team win 9 times. Curry’s two losses came against Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies in 2014 and 2024, respectively. In those 11 games, the veteran guard has averaged 23.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.1 assists.

The Warriors have been the team to watch on MLK Day. They have the second-highest win percentage on the holiday, with a 21-10 record in 31 games, with a .677 win rate.

While Curry is the all-time 3-point king in NBA history, he doesn’t hold the record for most 3-pointers made on MLK Day. That belongs to Damian Lillard, who drained 11 three-pointers in a single game. But Curry’s former splash brother, Klay Thompson, owns the most scorching 3-point performance in MLK Day history. Klay hit 10 threes on just 11 attempts during a 44-point marathon in a 2019 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

One of Curry’s most notable records is his three-point shooting prowess. He holds the record for most three-pointers made in a single season, with 402 during the 2015-2016 season. In addition, Curry is the only player in NBA history to have multiple seasons with over 300 three-pointers made.

  • Knicks vs. Hawks odds, score prediction, time: 2025 NBA MLK Day picks, January 20 best bets from proven model

We’ve got another exciting Eastern Conference contest on Monday’s NBA schedule as the New York Knicks will host the Atlanta Hawks on MLK Day. New York is 27-16 overall and 13-8 at home, while Atlanta is 22-19 overall and 11-12 on the road. The Hawks have won each of their previous two matchups this season, most recently defeating the Knicks on the road, 108-100, on Dec. 11.

Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. ET from Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, N.Y. The Knicks are favored by 6.5 points in the latest Hawks vs. Knicks odds, according to the SportsLine consensus. The over/under is 236 points. Before entering any Knicks vs. Hawks picks, you’ll want to see the NBA predictions from the model at SportsLine.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every NBA game 10,000 times and has returned well over $10,000 in betting profit for $100 players on its top-rated NBA picks over the past six-plus seasons. The model enters Week 14 of the 2024-25 NBA season on a sizzling 136-99 roll on all top-rated NBA picks dating back to last season, returning well over $3,000. Anyone following at sportsbooks and on betting apps could have seen huge returns.

The model has set its sights on New York vs. Atlanta. You can head to SportsLine to see its picks. Here are several NBA betting lines for the Knicks vs. Hawks:

    • Hawks vs. Knicks spread: Knicks -6.5
    • Hawks vs. Knicks over/under: 236 points
    • Hawks vs. Knicks money line: Knicks: -258, Hawks: +210
    • NYK: The Knicks are 10-9-1 against the spread (ATS) as a home favorite
    • ATL: The Hawks have covered the spread in three straight games
    • Hawks vs. Knicks picks: See picks at SportsLine
    • Hawks vs. Knicks streaming: FuboTV (Try for free)

    Why the Knicks can cover

The Knicks are coming off a 116-99 loss to the Timberwolves on Friday, but New York played without Karl-Anthony Towns, and the four-time All-Star is questionable for Monday as he battles a thumb strain. If Towns can play, that provides New York a significant boost, but Jalen Brunson has continued his emergence as a premier primary scorer and playmaker lately. He’s led New York in scoring in five straight games, averaging 33.2 points over that stretch. He’s also adding 6.2 assists over that span in a strong starting lineup that also includes Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart (questionable; neck).

The Knicks have the seventh-best scoring offense (117.0 ppg) behind the third-best shooting percentage (49.4%) in the league. The Knicks rank in the top five in shooting percentage on both 2-pointers and 3-pointers, making them a challenging team to defend anywhere on the court. Meanwhile, the Hawks have the third-worst scoring defense (119.0) ppg and have allowed at least 115 points in seven of their last eight games. See which team to pick here.

    Why the Hawks can cover

Atlanta has already defeated the Knicks twice this season behind a double-double by Trae Young in both contests. The 26-year-old is averaging 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 10.5 assists over his two games against New York, and Young is probable (Achilles) for Monday. The three-time All-Star is an elite creator for both himself and others as he leads the NBA in assists (11.8 per game) while adding 23.2 ppg. Young is coming off 28 points and 11 assists against the Celtics on Saturday after scoring 43 points against the Suns on Tuesday.

But the Hawks are more than just a one-man show as Jalen Johnson (19.7 ppg) and De’Andre Hunter (19.3) have been reliable assets. The Hawks have the No. 6 scoring offense (117.2 ppg) with the fourth-most points in the paint (53.4 ppg) this season. If Towns is out, or even playing with his hand less than 100%, the Hawks can attack him and the basket to score inside against a Knicks defense that ranks 19th in paint points allowed per game. See which team to pick here.

How to make Hawks vs. Knicks picks

The model has simulated Knicks vs. Hawks 10,000 times and the results are in. We can tell you that the model is leaning Under and it also says one side of the spread hits well over 50% of the time. You can only see the pick at SportsLine.

So who wins Hawks vs. Knicks, and which side of the spread hits well over 50% of the time? Visit SportsLine now to see which side of the Knicks vs. Hawks spread you need to jump on, all from the model that is on a 136-99 roll on top-rated NBA picks since last season, and find out.

The New York Knicks are set to take on the Atlanta Hawks on MLK Day, January 20, 2025. The game promises to be an exciting matchup between two Eastern Conference contenders.

The odds for this game are currently favoring the Hawks, but the Knicks are known for being a tough and resilient team. With both teams hungry for a win, this game could go either way.

Our score prediction for this game is a close one, with the Hawks coming out on top in a 108-105 victory over the Knicks. However, anything can happen in the NBA, and this game is sure to be a nail-biter until the final buzzer.

If you’re looking to place some bets on this game, our proven model suggests taking the Hawks to cover the spread and the over on the total points scored. Both teams have explosive offenses and this game has the potential to be a high-scoring affair.

So mark your calendars for January 20, 2025, and get ready for a thrilling game between the Knicks and the Hawks. It’s sure to be a must-watch matchup on MLK Day.

The Detroit Pistons will visit the Houston Rockets in a cross-conference NBA MLK Day game on Monday’s NBA schedule. Houston is 28-13 overall and 14-6 at home, while Detroit is 21-21 overall and 11-10 on the road. These franchises have split 150 all-time meetings, with each winning 75 times, and Houston prevailed in their last matchup, 101-99, on Nov. 10. Detroit is 22-19-1 against the spread (ATS) in the 2024-25 NBA season, while Houston is 24-17 versus the line.

Tipoff is at 2 p.m. ET at the Toyota Center in Houston. The Rockets are favored by 8 points in the latest Pistons vs. Rockets odds, per SportsLine consensus, and the over/under is 222.5 points. Why the Rockets can cover

The Rockets were the clear victor by a 125-103 margin over the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday. Houston got its win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alperen Sengun out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Jalen Green led the team in scoring with 26 points, while veteran Dillon Brooks chipped in with 22 points.

Having three players with at least 22 points, as part of six overall in double-figures, depth is a strength of Houston. Its biggest strength, however, is its lockdown defense, which ranks in the top five in a number of categories including points allowed, defensive rating, field goal percentage allowed and 3-pointers made per game. On the other hand, the Rockets get to face a Detroit team which struggles defending the perimeter, as the Pistons allow the third-highest 3-point percentage in the NBA. Why the Pistons can cover

Meanwhile, the Pistons were within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Saturday as they fell 125-121 to the Phoenix Suns. Despite the loss, Tobias Harris poured in 21 points, with Cade Cunningham dropping a double-double with 20 points and 11 assists. Jalen Duren had another complete stat line for the second game in a row with 15 points and 10 rebounds, as he’ll aim for a double-double for a season-high third straight game tonight versus Houston.

The Pistons have made great strides on both ends of the court, compared to last year, when they ranked in the bottom five in both scoring offense and scoring defense. This season, Detroit is middle-of-the-pack, 15th on offense and 16th on defense, which has enabled the team to already rack up 21 victories after going 14-68 a year ago. Additionally, the Pistons will feel comfortable in opponent territory as their 14-6-1 ATS record on the road is the second-best in the league this season. See which team to back at SportsLine.
