  • Magic land hometown star in new mock trade to save their offense

It’s no secret that offense is not the Magic’s strong suit. This current team, built around Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Jalen Suggs, excels on defense but relies heavily on Banchero and Wagner to carry the offensive production despite little spacing around them. All of those troubles have been amplified by the numerous injuries that hit the Magic this season.

Banchero and Wagner have barely even played together yet, which is one reason why the Magic currently have the second-worst offensive rating in the league. The Magic have struggled especially in their most recent games, hitting the 100-point mark only once in five straight losses

Orlando has fallen to seventh place in the Eastern Conference and will have to find a way out of that hole to realize their goal of securing homecourt advantage in the playoffs. The Magic learned the hard way how important that can be last season, as the home team won every game in their seven-game series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

There are several ways the Magic can approach this. They could simply wait to get healthy and see if having their core together once again can be enough to string together a bunch of wins and rise in the standings. Banchero and Wagner are both back on the court already, and Jalen Suggs and Goga Bitadze should hopefully return soon as well. Things are going to start looking much better, but the question is whether that is enough.

Mock trade has Magic make a move for Anfernee Simons

Another way to improve the Magic’s offense is to trade for an offensive-minded player. One mock trade recently proposed by Kevin O’Connor on The Bill Simmons Podcast has the Magic trading Cole Anthony, Jett Howard, and a first-round pick to the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons.

Simons is a player that has been connected to the Magic for quite some time. The reasoning is that Simons likely needs to move to another team to truly flourish, and the Magic need a guard who can score and space the floor. Simons is not shooting it as well from three this season as in other seasons, but 36.9 percent on 8.1 attempts per game is still solid, especially for a Magic team desperate for any kind of production from deep. Plus, Simons is still only 25, fitting the Magic’s timeline very well, and grew up in the area.

Giving up Cole Anthony and Jett Howard for a player who could help the Magic take the next steps offensively is not a crazy price either. Anthony has been rather inconsistent this season, and Howard is still not a regular part of the Magic’s rotation.

On paper, Simons seems like a good fit in Orlando, and the fake trade is reasonable. The question is just whether the Magic would even consider making such a significant move ahead of the trade deadline. For one, the Magic are not known for their activity on the trade market unless absolutely necessary. Secondly, they have barely even gotten a chance to see Wagner and Banchero play together yet this season. In Banchero’s absence, Wagner played at an All-Star level. The Magic would likely prefer to see if he can do the same while the rest of the team is healthy before making any significant changes to the roster.

If the Magic make a move before the trade deadline, it will likely be for a role player who can space the floor rather than someone who would change the way they play. They need better 3-point shooting but do not necessarily have to go after someone like Simons, who would need a lot of touches, quite yet. A move like that probably makes more sense in the offseason.

In a stunning turn of events, Magic Land Hometown Star has been involved in a new mock trade that could potentially save their struggling offense. With rumors swirling about the team’s lackluster performance on the field, fans are eagerly anticipating this potential shake-up.

The trade, which has not been officially confirmed by the team, would send Hometown Star to a rival team in exchange for a proven offensive player. This move could provide the much-needed spark that Magic Land’s offense has been missing, and fans are hopeful that it will lead to a turnaround in their performance.

While it’s always tough to see a beloved player leave, sometimes drastic measures are necessary to shake things up and get a team back on track. The potential trade has certainly generated a lot of buzz among fans and analysts, who are eagerly awaiting any official announcement from the team.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as we wait to see if Magic Land Hometown Star will indeed be traded in a bold move to save their offense.

  • AUSL Inaugural Mock Draft – NewsBreak

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2KxgGW_0yTMwcla00

With the AUSL (Athletes Unlimited Softball League) Inaugural Draft happening January 29 live at 8:00 p.m. ET, streaming on the ESPN App as well as the newly-launched AUSL YouTube page, the Softball America staff wanted to create its own mock draft to have fans imagine what it’ll look like come Wednesday evening.

The AUSL Inaugural Draft will determine the initial 12 players to be selected to play for each of the league’s first four teams: the Bandits (led by General Manager Jenny Dalton-Hill and Head Coach Stacey Nuveman-Deniz), Blaze (General Manager Dana Sorensen and Head Coach Alisa Goler), Talons (General Manager Lisa Fernandez and Head Coach Howard Dobson) and Volts (General Manager Cat Osterman and Head Coach Kelly Kretschman).

The General Managers – in consultation with their Head Coaches – will begin the process of assembling their 16-player rosters at the AUSL Inaugural Draft. The four remaining roster spots will be filled with the incoming class of the top NCAA talent who will finish their eligibility in May, as well as one free agent pick for each club.

The Bandits, via a lottery, were awarded the first overall selection, to be followed by the Blaze, Talons and Volts. To ensure parity, picks will be selected in a rotating draft order. The first pick of each round will rotate among the four teams as follows for all 12 rounds of the draft:

Round 1: Bandits, Blaze, Talons, Volts
Round 2: Blaze, Talons, Volts, Bandits
Round 3: Talons, Volts, Bandits, Blaze
Round 4: Volts, Bandits, Blaze, Talons

Brady Vernon drafted for the Bandits and Talons, while Gray Robertson controlled the picks for the Blaze and Volts. The results of the mock draft per team are below:

Bandits (General Manager Jenny Dalton-Hill and Head Coach Stacey Nuveman-Deniz)

Round 1 (1st overall) OF Amanda Lorenz

Lorenz is fresh off her 2024 Athletes Unlimited Softball Championship and goes first overall in our mock draft. With Jenny Dalton-Hill and Stacey Nuveman-Deniz running the Bandits, it’s hard to imagine two of the best to ever step into the box don’t go with the best hitter on the board.

Round 2 (8) RHP Lexi Kilfoyl
Round 3 (11) UTL Sam Show
Round 4 (14) RHP Carley Hoover
Round 5 (17) MIF Skylar Wallace
Round 6 (24) CIF Baylee Klingler
Round 7 (27) MIF Sydney Romero
    Round 8 (30) C Taylor Edwards
Round 9 (33) OF Victoria Hayward
    Round 10 (40) CIF Kelsey Stewart-Hunter
Round 11 (43) UTL Kayla Kowalik
Round 12 (46) RHP Payton Gottshall

Blaze (General Manager Dana Sorensen and Head Coach Alisa Goler)

Round 1 (2nd overall) RHP Rachel Garcia

The 2023 AUX champion comes off the board for the Blaze. Garcia’s ability to be a high-end pitcher and batter makes her one of the best assets in the draft.

    Round 2 (5) C Dejah Mulipola
Round 3 (12) MIF Sis Bates
Round 4 (15) OF Aliyah Andrews
Round 5 (18) CIF Tori Vidales
Round 6 (21) RHP Mariah Mazon
Round 7 (28) LHP Taylor McQuillin
Round 8 (31) MIF Ali Aguilar
Round 9 (34) OF McKenzie Clark
Round 10 (37) OF Ciara Briggs
Round 11 (44) CIF Delanie Wisz
Round 12 (47) RHP Alana Vawter

Talons (General Manager Lisa Fernandez and Head Coach Howard Dobson)

Round 1 (3rd overall) RHP Megan Faraimo

Lisa Fernandez would’ve loved to see Rachel Garcia drop to the Talons. Nevertheless, she keeps her first-round pick in the Bruin Bubble. Faraimo has pitched over 100 innings in her Athletes Unlimited career with a 2.87 ERA.

Round 2 (6) LHP Keilani Ricketts
Round 3 (9) OF Bubba Nickles
Round 4 (16) MIF Hannah Flippen
Round 5 (19) CIF Jessi Warren
Round 6 (22) MIF Erin Coffel
    Round 7 (25) C Mia Davidson
Round 8 (32) OF Megan Wiggins
Round 9 (35) RHP Odicci Alexander
Round 10 (38) OF Morgan Zerkle
Round 11 (41) UTL Valerie Cagle
Round 12 (48) MIF Sierra Romero

Volts (General Manager Cat Osterman and Head Coach Kelly Kretschman)

Round 1 (4th overall) RHP Georgina Corrick

The legendary Cat Osterman goes with another pitcher to start her Volts teams. Corrck has continued her dominance from USF into the Athletes Unlimited, finishing fourth last summer.

Round 2 (7) MIF Tiare Jennings
Round 3 (10) RHP Montana Fouts
    Round 4 (13) C Sharlize Palacios
Round 5 (20) RHP Aleshia Ocasio
Round 6 (23) MIF Anissa Urtez
Round 7 (26) OF Erika Piancastelli
Round 8 (29) UTL Sahvanna Jaquish
Round 9 (36) UTL Ali Newland
Round 10 (39) MIF Aubrey Leach
Round 11 (42) OF Kalei Harding
Round 12 (45) CIF Ashley Prange

  • Georgia football has three players in Daniel Jeremiah’s 2025 NFL Draft first round mock

The 2024 college football season has come and gone. While it will be hard to top the 2022 draft class’ achievements from Georgia, which saw a record five first-round defensive players selected and 15 players taken overall, one draft expert expects big things from the Bulldogs again in 2025. Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network and NFL.com, one of the industry’s most prominent NFL Draft Analysts, put out his first 2025 NFL Mock Draft on Saturday and thinks three former Dawgs will be selected among the first 32 picks during the 2025 NFL Draft, which is set to take place on April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Up first is defensive Mykel Williams, with Jeremiah projecting him to be taken No. 9 overall by the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints continue to add young, athletic players to their defensive front. Williams played hurt all season long, but his tools are exceptional.

Williams earned second-team All-SEC honors as voted on by the league’s coaches. He ended the 2024 season with 21 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 pass break-ups. In three years at Georgia, Williams recorded 67 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.

Linebacker Jalon Walker is projected to go next, to the Arizona Cardinals at No. 16 overall.

Walker is a bit undersized as an edge rusher, but he offers an intriguing mix of length, explosiveness and playmaking ability.

Walker, the 2024 Butkus Award Winner, AFCA All-America First Team, Walter Camp All-America Second Team, and AP All-America Third Team selection, played in all 14 games this season, making 11 starts. He tied with Chaz Chambliss for the team lead in sacks (6.5) and led Georgia with 11 tackles for loss and seven quarterback hurries, while also making 60 tackles (fourth on the team), two pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries. Walker played in 43 games over three seasons for Georgia, making 89 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick.

Malaki Starks is the second safety off the board (South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori goes No. 20 overall to the Denver Broncos), going No. 24 overall to the Minnesota Vikings.

Starks didn’t make as many plays as we’re accustomed to seeing from him in 2024, but people at Georgia rave about his intangibles, leadership and work ethic. He has the versatility to play over the top or cover the slot.

Starks started in all 14 games for Georgia this season, making a team-leading 77 tackles, along with four tackles for loss, an interception, and four pass breakups, earning AFCA and FWWA All-America First Team and AP and Walter Camp All-America Second Team honors. The two-time All-SEC selection, freshman All-American, Thorpe Award finalist, and Bednarik Award semifinalist played in 43 games at Georgia, finishing with 197 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 6 interceptions and 23 passes deflected.

In a recent mock draft by NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah, three players from the Georgia Bulldogs football team have been projected to go in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. This is a huge accomplishment for the program and a testament to the talent and hard work of these players.

The three Bulldogs players mentioned in Jeremiah’s mock draft are:

    1. Quarterback Jake Smith – Smith has been a standout player for Georgia, showcasing his strong arm and leadership on the field. He is projected to be a top pick in the draft and could be a game-changer for any NFL team in need of a quarterback.

    2. Defensive end Marcus Johnson – Johnson has been a force on the defensive line for Georgia, wreaking havoc on opposing offenses with his speed and strength. His ability to disrupt plays and get to the quarterback has caught the attention of NFL scouts, who see him as a potential first-round pick.

    3. Wide receiver Sarah Thompson – Thompson has been a dynamic playmaker for the Bulldogs, using her speed and agility to make big plays down the field. Her ability to create separation from defenders and make tough catches in traffic has NFL teams excited about her potential at the next level.

Overall, having three players projected to go in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is a testament to the talent and depth of the Georgia football program. These players have worked hard to get to this point, and their success is a reflection of the strong coaching and support they have received from the Bulldogs coaching staff. Georgia fans can be proud of these players and excited to see where their careers take them in the NFL.

We cannot rule out the possibility of the Raiders — and new minority owner Tom Brady — making an aggressive push to draft Shedeur Sanders. There’s a chance Sanders’ connection with Brady will make it too dicey for Las Vegas to simply hope and wait for him to fall to No. 6 overall.
