  • Jason Momoa relaunches water company

HONOLULU — In between filming scenes for his new buddy cop movie, “The Wrecking Crew,” actor Jason Momoa stopped by the Twin Fin Resort in Waikiki on Monday to announce the relaunch of his water company Mananalu Powered by Boomerang Water, which utilizes a machine that fills aluminum bottles with local, purified water and seals them.

When guests arrive at the Twin Fin, they are given a Mananalu aluminum water bottle with a reusable cap — instead of the usual plastic water bottles that await guests in their hotel room. Guests can refill the water bottle at “refill stations” throughout the hotel. When they check out of the hotel, guests leave the bottles at “recovery stands.” Then, a Mananalu Powered by Boomerang Water machine at the Twin Fin sanitizes the bottle, fills it with purified water, and re-seals it with a new cap for the next guest.

The benefits of the closed-loop system include reducing the need to ship water bottles, avoiding single-use plastic, and keeping trash out of the landfill.

“I’m just trying to leave a better place for my children,” said Momoa in an interview with Spectrum News Hawaii. “I feel like I have a duty.”

The Aquaman actor has always been passionate about environmentalism, and he decided to use his voice to fight against single-use plastics. “I sunk my teeth into single-use plastic because I couldn’t take it anymore.”

Momoa originally launched Mananalu in 2019, selling aluminum bottled water to consumers through retailers like Costco and Whole Foods. “I had a bunch of roadblocks with Mananalu,” Momoa said, referring to the difficulty of distributing empty aluminum bottles and having them filled and sealed at different locations. Last year, Momoa teamed up with the founders of Boomerang Water, Jason Dibble and Jerrod Freund, who created the machines that fill the aluminum bottles on site.

The company plans to have up to 20 Mananalu Powered by Boomerang Water machines installed at select locations across the state within the next 18 months, according to Freund. Along with placing the machines in hotels, they hope to install them on cruise ships, at convention centers, and in schools.

At least 300 bottles need to be bottled every day for the machine to be cost effective. However, Mananalu Powered by Boomerang Water is also working with a Kapolei-based logistics company, Warehouse Solutions, that will run a delivery service, like a milkman, for local businesses that want to distribute less than 300 bottles a day.

In 2021, the bottled water industry was valued at $270 billion. It is one of the world’s fastest growing industries, with 73% growth in sales from 2010 to 2020, and it is projected to continue to grow. Over 97% of bottled water containers are made of plastic, creating major concerns about pollution, according to a report from the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health.

“This is a fucking game changer,” Momoa said about being able to bottle the water on site in aluminum bottles. “It needs to be. We need to eliminate this waste.”

Currently, machines from Mananalu Powered by Boomerang are installed or will soon be set up at Romer House Waikiki, Kaimana Beach Hotel, Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, Halekulani Hotel, Westin Hapuna Beach Resort and Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. On Friday, the company will start distributing aluminum bottled water at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama, and they hope to expand their operations to schools all over the state.

The design on the bottles is customizable, so each hotel or school can have a bottle that matches its brand. “Every hotel, every school, can have their colors (on a bottle). They can decorate what they want on there,” said Momoa.

The machines could also potentially be used in a disaster-relief situation or in a place like Flint, Michigan, where lead-contaminated water was widespread, because the source water is purified with reverse osmosis. The company created mobile machines that can be brought to any site.

“You could plug this into a puddle and you’ll be able to get potable water,” said Freund.

Aquaman star Jason Momoa is making waves once again, this time in the business world. The actor has announced the relaunch of his water company, Mananalu.

Mananalu, which means “water spirit” in Hawaiian, originally launched in 2019 with the mission of reducing single-use plastic bottles and promoting sustainability. Now, Momoa is taking the company to the next level by introducing new packaging and expanding distribution.

In a statement, Momoa expressed his passion for environmental conservation and his commitment to making a positive impact on the planet. He hopes that Mananalu will inspire others to make more sustainable choices and help protect our oceans and waterways.

Fans of Momoa and eco-conscious consumers alike are eagerly anticipating the relaunch of Mananalu and are excited to support a company that is dedicated to making a difference. With Jason Momoa at the helm, Mananalu is sure to make a splash in the world of sustainable business.

  • Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow – Jason Momoa Has Been Cast As Lobo

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow – Jason Momoa Has Been Cast As Lobo

Posted in: Movies, Supergirl, Warner Bros | Tagged: , ,

Jason Momoa has rejoined the DC Universe. He has been cast as Lobo and is set to make his debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

The cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow just added another major name and character to its already impressive lineup. Considering the number of DC characters Superman is set to introduce to the universe, it really shouldn’t be that surprising that Supergirl appears to be on the same trajectory. Jason Momoa was in the previous era of the DC Universe as Aquaman, which infamously ended with the crunch of a cockroach burger. While Momoa always seemed to have a lot of love for Arthur, he also made it very clear that he might have even more love for the character of Lobo. However, back when Momoa was first cast, the character of Lobo seemed a bit more out there and something that might not play well to a mainstream audience. Things have changed a lot, and people would be willing to accept a character that is like these days. Deadline reported, and Momoa confirmed on his official Instagram that he has been cast as Lobo in the new DC Universe.

“So Lobo was… I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like. ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,’” he said. “I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a f*ck yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there,” said the post on Momoa’s official Instagram, a quote from a previous article, with the caption “They called.”

Lobo is a character who has bounced all over the DC universe, from the Justice League to the Suicide Squad. Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen created him, and he first appeared in Omega Man #3 in June 1983. It is unclear what role he’ll play in Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow.

Here is James Gunn also confirming Momoa’s casting on his Instagram stories:

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Starts Filming In January

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is one step closer to entering production. The project, which has a writer, Ana Nogueira, was announced back in November 2023. After months of speculation posts that were starting to rival the best of them, we finally got word that Milly Alcock would be playing Supergirl at the end of January. In April, we learned that Craig Gillespie would be the director, and some of the supporting cast started filling out, with Matthias Schoenaerts joining the cast as Krem of the Yellow Hills.

Gunn explained at the time of the initial Supergirl announcement, “In our series, we see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.” We don’t have any other plot details aside from the release date, June 26, 2026, for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but the production is set to start on January 13th.

  • Jason Momoa to Play Lobo in ‘Supergirl’ Movie

Jason Momoa to Play Lobo in ‘Supergirl’ Movie

Aquaman star Jason Momoa is staying in the DC fold. The actor will appear in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as Lobo, the alien bounty hunter who first appeared in the comics in 1983, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Momoa was the face of the Aquaman franchise for the previous DC regime, appearing as Aquaman in a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) before starring in Justice League (2017) and then toplining 2018’s Aquaman. The feature was a massive hit, earning $1 billion and marking the high point for the DCEU films, which ended with last year’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. That final film was a letdown, earning just $439 million and failing with critics.

Momoa has long wanted to play the character and has talked about it for years, including during the press rounds for The Lost Kingdom. On Monday, the actor shared a quote from that press tour in which he stated he hoped DC would call him about the role. He captioned the quote on Instagram with, “they called.”

There have been various attempts to bring Lobo to the big screen over the years. Filmmakers such as Guy Ritchie and Brad Peyton both took stabs, with Dwayne Johnson circling the roll for Peyton’s version. In 2018, Warner Bros. and Michael Bay also flirted with the idea, but the concept never got off the ground. On the small screen, Emmett J. Scanlan played Lobo on the SyFy series Krypton.

Writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen created Lobo for the comic Omega Men No. 3. The blue skinned, cigar chomping alien has superstrength and healing powers, and has fought both heroes and villains.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow arrives in theaters June 26, 2026 and stars Milly Alcock as the hero. It will be the second feature in the new DC Universe overseen by DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran, with Gunn’s Superman movie arriving in July.

Exciting news for DC fans! Jason Momoa has been cast to play the iconic character Lobo in the upcoming ‘Supergirl’ movie.

Known for his roles in ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Game of Thrones,’ Momoa is no stranger to playing larger-than-life characters with a strong presence. Lobo, a ruthless intergalactic bounty hunter, is sure to be a perfect fit for Momoa’s intense and charismatic acting style.

Fans can expect an action-packed and entertaining performance from Momoa as he brings Lobo to life on the big screen. Stay tuned for more updates on the ‘Supergirl’ movie, and get ready to see Momoa in all his badass glory as Lobo! #JasonMomoa #Lobo #SupergirlMovie #DCUniverse
