  • Tim Allen ‘Shifting Gears’ Is ABC’s Most-Streamed Series Premiere Ever

Tim Allen‘s new ABC sitcom “Shifting Gears” is revving its ratings engine. According to ABC, the series now stands as the most-watched ABC series premiere on streaming to date, via first seven days of views on both Hulu and the Hulu portion of Disney+.

Per the Alphabet net, the Jan. 8 premiere of “Shifting Gears” has now averaged close to 17 million views on multiplatform, including linear ABC (and subsequent repeats) and timeshifting, as well as Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and other digital platforms. That 16.95 million number is up 173% from the show’s initial live+same day delivery of 6.2 million viewers.

Take out the linear repeats, and the show’s seven-day multiplatform average is 12.45 million viewers — up 101% from its 6.2 million L+SD tally — and a 2.94 rating with adults 18-49, up 339% from its L+SD 18-49 average of 0.67.

According to ABC, this makes it the network’s most-watched debut since “The Conners” on Oct. 16, 2018. “Shifting Gears” stars Allen as Matt, “the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop,” per the official logline. “When Matt’s estranged daughter (Kat Dennings) and her kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.” Seann William Scott, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis also star.

Meanwhile, the “Abbott Elementary“/”It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” crossover, which also aired on Jan. 8, hit a series high for “Abbott” in streaming, via Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, according to the network.

So far, the seven-day multiplatform number is 8.05 million in total viewers and a 2.57 rating with adults 18-49. The only episode to beat it in that measurement was the show’s post-Oscars episode last March.

The “Abbott”/”Sunny” episode averaged 4.9 million viewers in linear L+7 (up 28% from 3.82 million on L+SD) and a 0.9 rating with adults 18-49 (up 32% from 0.68 in L+SD).

Tim Allen’s new show “Shifting Gears” has taken ABC by storm, becoming the network’s most-streamed series premiere ever. With Allen back in the driver’s seat as a race car driver turned stay-at-home dad, fans are loving the comedic charm and family-friendly humor that the show brings.

The premiere episode has garnered rave reviews and has quickly become a fan favorite, drawing in viewers of all ages. Tim Allen’s return to television has been highly anticipated, and it’s clear that he hasn’t lost his touch when it comes to making audiences laugh.

Whether you’re a longtime Tim Allen fan or just looking for a new show to binge-watch, “Shifting Gears” is definitely worth checking out. Tune in to ABC and see why this series premiere is breaking records and winning hearts.

  • Billie Eilish Song Surpassed Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’ as Spotify’s Most-Streamed Song in 2024

Billie Eilish Song Surpassed Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’ as Spotify’s Most-Streamed Song in 2024

Fans might’ve not been thinking about Sabrina Carpenter‘s “Espresso” every night after all.

According to Variety, the most-streamed song on Spotify in 2024 was “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish. The song floated past Carpenter’s with 1,775,172,881 streams last year. “Espresso,” meanwhile, had a total of 1,774,525,704 listens, 650,000 behind Eilish, 23.

“Espresso” was previously reported as the most-streamed song as part of Spotify Wrapped, with “Birds of a Feather” in the No. 3 spot at the time behind Benson Boone‘s “Beautiful Things.”

Carpenter, 25, dropped “Espresso” in April from her Short n’ Sweet album. The tune won song of the year at the 2024 MTV VMAs and has since inspired coffee-themed collaborations with the singer, including an espresso-flavored ice cream.

“Birds of a Feather,” which Eilish released on her third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft in May. She and her brother Finneas worked on the song in the back of an SUV while in Brazil. “We’re always finding ourselves working in the most random places,” she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live in September.

“It’s fun because it’s so casual and normal and we were just in the back of this car and it’s Finneas’ laptop,” she continued. Looking back on when she and Finneas, 27, wrote the “Birds of a Feather,” Eilish said it’s “really amazing to see how far the song has come.”

Eilish is up for seven Grammys this year, while Carpenter earned six nominations. Both are up for the record of the year and pop solo performance of the year with their respective top-streamed songs on Spotify, along with album of the year.

Carpenter told The Hollywood Reporter in December that she wasn’t sure if anyone would connect with “Espresso.” “I remember deciding to put this song out in the beginning of summer and thinking espresso, coffee is kind of more of a fall beverage,” she said.

“I really didn’t know if it would connect, but the sentiment and the sound of the song and the confidence that it kind of just carries along with it was something that I really believed in.”

The “Please Please Please” singer continued: “So I had literally no idea that anyone would like it, but I liked it, and that was kind of all that mattered to me in that moment, and something I try to remember over and over again.”

In a surprising turn of events, Billie Eilish’s latest hit song has surpassed Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’ as Spotify’s most-streamed song of 2024. Eilish’s catchy tune has captured the hearts of fans around the world, propelling it to the top spot on the streaming platform.

Fans of both artists have been engaged in a friendly rivalry, with supporters of Eilish celebrating her latest achievement. The song’s success is a testament to Eilish’s undeniable talent and appeal, solidifying her status as one of the music industry’s biggest stars.

As ‘Espresso’ slips from its reign as Spotify’s most-streamed song, fans of Carpenter are still showing their support for the talented artist. Despite the shift in rankings, both Eilish and Carpenter continue to create music that resonates with listeners and showcases their incredible artistry.

Congratulations to Billie Eilish on this impressive milestone, and here’s to more chart-topping hits in the future!

Post Malone Reveals His Most-Streamed Artists of 2024 (They’re Both Country!)

Post Malone‘s love for country music runs deep.

During his Wild Horses Festival headlining set at Petco Park in San Diego, the “I Had Some Help” musician revealed the two artists he couldn’t get enough of in 2024.

Addressing the crowd, Malone, 29, first clarified he’s an Apple Music user and usually doesn’t pay much attention to those things. This year, however, he decided to share that his top two artists were “George Strait” and “Zach Top.”

After declaring his 2024 favorites, Malone introduced Top, 27, to the stage, and together they covered Vince Gill’s “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away.”

Meanwhile, Malone’s set featured a blend of country songs from his most recent album F-1 Trillion and older hits like “Circles,” “I Fall Apart,” “Rockstar” and “Sunflower.”

Malone’s headlining performance comes after his appearance during Beyoncé‘s epic Christmas Day halftime show at the Texans-Ravens game at NRG Stadium in Houston. Together, they performed their Cowboy Carter collab “LEVII’S JEANS.”

The “Better Now” singer expressed his appreciation for the moment in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Dec. 28.

“Thank you @Beyonce so much for havin me out in Houston, and on your beautiful record. Also, thank you for sharin your talent and art with the world. I love you,” he wrote.

Since the release of F-1 Trillion, which featured country stars like Morgan Wallen, Blake SheltonLuke Combs, Tim McGraw, Lainey Wilson and more, Malone has been on a country music roll.

In November, he announced he’ll embark on The Big Ass Stadium Tour throughout North America in summer 2025 with Jelly Roll, whom he collaborated with on “Losers.”

“He has a country heart and he is someone who immersed himself in the Nashville way,” Brad Paisley, who invited Malone to perform at the Opry, led off the performance by noting. “But you aren’t a country singer until you’ve played this.”
