Upper West Side News
By Gus SaltonstallRumors are swirling that Kamala Harris, who officially leaves her job as vice president today, might be eyeing a home on the Upper West Side, as first reported by the New York Post’s Page Six.
Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, was spotted earlier in January touring a $20,000-a-month three-bedroom apartment in the Park Loggia building on West 61st Street between Broadway and Columbus, according to the Post.
The new Upper West Side luxury building has 24/7 doorman service, security, a rooftop and outdoor terrace with Central Park views, a fitness center, golf simulator, music practice rooms, and more.
According to the Post, citing an unnamed source, “the soon-to-be-former VEEP and Second Gentleman intend for Los Angeles to continue to be their base when they leave Number One Observatory Circle [in Washington, D.C.] this week.” But the same source “conceded that Emhoff has indeed been casting his eye over some homes in the Big Apple on the couple’s behalf.”
Emhoff’s daughter also lives in Brooklyn.

Actor Mark Ruffalo visited City Hall this month in an effort to help preserve the West-Park Presbyterian Church on the Upper West Side.
Ruffalo met with First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer and City Councilmember Gale Brewer to discuss the ongoing dispute between preservationists and a developer over the fate of the church at the corner of West 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, sources told the New York Post. The church congregation says it can’t afford needed repairs and has asked to sell the property to a developer who would build condos in the space.
Brewer, who has sided with those who want to preserve the church, said it “is not falling apart,” according to the Post. “I was there two nights ago. Beautiful, not falling apart,” said Brewer. “It does need money for the roof, which we have, and then we can take the scaffolding off.”
The last update in the long-running West-Park Presbyterian Church saga was that the church was withdrawing its request to the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission to grant a “hardship application” that would have cleared the way for the 133-year-old church to sell the property and have it demolished.
The congregation issued a statement at the time saying that it would resubmit the hardship application, when the ongoing litigation around the building was resolved. That litigation is still ongoing.
On Saturday, a mist rolled into Central Park with the warmer weather and rain.

Ruffalo, known for his activism and environmental advocacy, has been vocal about preserving the church’s architectural integrity while also finding a way to repurpose the space for community use.
And speaking of the UWS, Central Park was shrouded in a mysterious mist earlier this week, creating a magical and ethereal atmosphere for park-goers. The mist added an extra layer of beauty to the already picturesque park, making for a truly enchanting experience.

Orlando weather: Widespread rain moving in, strong cold front ahead: Is snow on the way?
ORLANDO, Fla. – Widespread rain is starting to move in ahead of a strong cold front that brings the chance of severe weather on Sunday.
There is a marginal risk for the potential of a stronger thunderstorm in the northwestern parts of the viewing area.
Tonight, expect cloudy skies and temperatures dropping into the mid 60s. Winds also will start to pick up tonight.
Prepare for impact day
Sunday, a strong cold front will swing through Central Florida.
There is a marginal risk for the potential of a stronger thunderstorm in most of the viewing area. The main threats include gusty winds and heavy rain at times.
However, there is the potential for a few stronger storms and a quick spin up (chance is very low, but not zero).
Showers will taper off on Sunday night, and the cold air invades Central Florida.
We are looking at highs around 20 degrees cooler, with the highs dropping back down to the 50s to start off the workweek.
Winter weather?
There also is potential for an impact day on Wednesday.
A low pressure system will start to organize off the coast of Texas, picking up moisture with the warm air from the gulf.
This will interact with the arctic air surging down into the Southeast from this weekend’s cold front and will bring the potential for snow and freezing rain into the deep south and Florida.
Areas of our WOGX counties could see the potential for icing and freezing rain.
It’s still too early to really pinpoint how far south the freezing potential will be at the moment, but be prepared for roads to be very slick up the I-75 corridor.

The coldest air of the winter is moving in next week. Will the Georgia snow reach Florida?
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s been an unseasonably cold January, and we’re about to get a serious blast of wintry weather.
After this weekend’s rain, an Arctic cold front will send in the coldest air we have seen this winter, bringing temperatures that rarely hit this hard.
Next week, afternoon highs will struggle to climb out of the 40s, with the week kicking off with at least three consecutive freezing nights. This has everyone wondering: will it snow? Believe it or not, there’s even a slim chance of snow flurries close to Jacksonville if the atmospheric stars align.
Here’s the breakdown:
-
While Georgia could see snow that sticks to the ground, snowflakes in Jacksonville are highly unlikely at this point
-
A much more realistic concern for Northeast Florida is freezing rain starting Tuesday night.
-
Wednesday morning could be hazardous for drivers.
The potential for winter weather, including snow and freezing rain, increases along and north of the I-10 corridor from Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Before this main event, Georgia and the Florida Panhandle could see a 10% chance of flurries on Monday evening.
Tuesday night: The snow event
The best opportunity for wintry precipitation arrives Tuesday night and continues into Wednesday morning. The best area locally for snow will be in Waycross, Georgia. It has a 30-40% chance of seeing over an inch of snow, with Brunswick close behind at 20-30%.
Temperatures will be well below freezing Wednesday morning inland and could freeze along the beaches from St. Johns County northward.
For Jacksonville to experience snow, a unique and precise combination of weather factors would need to converge — a long shot, indeed.
As of now the air above the ground in Jacksonville does not look cold enough for snow even though the surface will be freezing. This vertical atmospheric profile could result in sleet or freezing rain around Duval, Nassau, and counties west along I-10.
The graphic below is a cross-section of the atmosphere through time with the forecast starting on Friday at the left and ending on Wednesday at the right. The white areas right of the dashed line are temperatures below freezing at the surface. Since the air is not freezing aloft snow is not likely in Jacksonville based on this forecast chart.
Warmer air aloft results in rain freezing on contact with freezing surface temperature which is a concern Tuesday night. Models indicate up to an inch of rain may freeze on the roads over inland north Florida which would be dangerous for the commute to work Wednesday.
The reality is it’s still too early to pinpoint the exact type of precipitation — freezing rain, snow, or sleet — as we’re still four days away from any potential wintry mix. The specifics will depend on the precise timing of moisture meeting freezing temperatures. Stay tuned for updates as this frosty forecast develops!

As temperatures continue to drop across the country, the coldest air of the winter is set to move in next week. While many states are bracing for snow and icy conditions, the question on everyone’s mind is: will the Georgia snow reach Florida?Meteorologists are predicting that the frigid air mass moving in will bring snow to parts of Georgia, but the chances of snow reaching Florida are slim. However, residents in northern Florida may still see some flurries or sleet as the cold front pushes south.
It’s important for residents in both Georgia and Florida to prepare for the winter weather ahead by stocking up on supplies, checking their heating systems, and staying informed about any weather alerts. Stay safe and warm during this upcoming cold snap!

CNN Eyes Moving Wolf Blitzer to Daytime Slot
Wolf Blitzer may be getting ready to storm the morning on CNN.
The veteran anchor, who has led the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed outlet’s “The Situation Room” in early evenings since 2005, could bring the program to mid-to-late mornings, according to a person familiar with the matter, under a set of new plans around programming and talent currently being considered by CNN.
A CNN spokesperson declined to comment. The Status newsletter previously reported on Blitzer’s potential move to a different time slot.
CNN, which is grappling with significant downturns in viewership, has long been mulling a set of maneuvers that will put more of a spotlight on digital content, and staffers have grown more anxious over what those ideas will portend. Layoffs have long been expected, according to two people familiar with the situation, along with new tweaks to the schedule of the company’s flagship cable network. There is also a belief among employees that CNN could move more of its production staff to its facilities in Atlanta, which would help it cut down on salaries and real estate in New York and Washington, D.C.
Even so, CNN has not offered any final plans and it is not clear at this time that executives have directly informed personnel or staffers of any shifts in assignments.
CNN CEO Mark Thompson recently told staffers that corporate parent Warner Bros. Discovery planned to invest $70 million in his strategic vision to augment digital content. There are expectations that CNN will examine launching new properties tied to health, wellness and other topics in which executives hope consumers will have interest. “We will develop new digital products with a special focus on digital experiences worth paying for,” the executive told staffers in a memo in July.
Blitzer will turn 77 in March, but has maintained a rigorous on air schedule, taking part in Election Night coverage and anchoring overseas during crisis events. He has worked at CNN since 1990, and, along with Christiane Amanpour and Anderson Cooper, is one of a handful of personnel whose long history on the network offers a gravitas that others can be hard-pressed to match during critical news moments.
Under one idea being considered, Blitzer would team with Pamela Brown, who currently anchors the network’s 11 a.m. hour. The show, according to the person familiar with the situation, could keep Blitzer’s “Situation Room” title, and would grant the anchor an additional hour on air, something in which he has expressed interest. CNN shortened “The Situation Room” in 2021 to give more time to Jake Tapper’s late-afternoon program, “The Lead.” CNN is considering other changes as well.
Blitzer has long thrived in breaking-news environments, and putting him on in mornings would allow him to cover more stories as they happen, rather than summarizing or analyzing them toward the end of the day. It might also allow CNN to give more visibility in evenings to a different anchor.
Still, a move would shake up CNN’s schedule, which has offered “Situation Room” as a sort of counterpart to broadcast evening-news programs and Fox News Channel’s “Special Report.” CNN would need to move a different anchor to shoulder that assignment. The show is sandwiched between Tapper’s program and the start of CNN’s evening schedule, which kicks off with Erin Burnett’s 7 p.m. “Outfront.”
Jim Acosta currently anchors CNN’s 10 a.m. hour.
CNN is reportedly considering moving longtime anchor Wolf Blitzer to a daytime slot, according to sources close to the network. The move comes as part of CNN’s efforts to shake up its programming lineup and attract a broader audience during the day.Blitzer, who has been a fixture on CNN’s primetime lineup for years, is known for his expertise in international affairs and political reporting. The move to daytime would give him a chance to reach a different audience and potentially bring his signature style of reporting to a new time slot.
While the move has not been confirmed by CNN, it has sparked speculation among media insiders and fans of the network. Many are excited at the prospect of seeing Blitzer in a new role and are curious to see how he would fare in a daytime format.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as CNN continues to make changes to its programming lineup. Would you like to see Wolf Blitzer in a daytime slot on CNN? Let us know in the comments below!

Hull City moving for AS Monaco player – Could become concrete rapidly
When we brought news on Thursday of Hull City being on the verge of signing Nordin Amrabat, it’s fair to say the response was mixed, with ‘He’s 37!’ being the typical reaction.
The Championship club need to add some quality help this month as they battle to avoid relegation from the division and try to make sure they start next season on a firmer footing.
Thursday evening saw claims from Turkey that talks for Fenerbahce owned Lincoln Henrique had kicked off again, with Acun Ilicali trying to convince him to move to Hull City on loan.
He’s a 26-year-old attacking midfielder and the latest Turkish slant is that he’s agreed to the move, although it’s worth noting there’s not universal agreement on that.
Now there’s more excitement.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports Hull City have recently – and we’re assuming very recently – tried to get information about signing Eliot Matazo.
Tavolieri believes it’s a situation to watch closely because Hull City could turn that interest concrete quickly.
Matazo is a 22-year-old Belgian central midfielder who currently plays for AS Monaco. Well, we say play but he’s only had around 180 minutes so far this season.
According to recent reports, Hull City are making a move for an AS Monaco player, and the deal could become concrete rapidly. The Championship side are said to be interested in bringing in the talented player to bolster their squad for the upcoming season. This potential transfer could be a major coup for Hull City, as the AS Monaco player is highly rated and has a lot of potential to make a big impact in England. The player’s versatility and skillset could provide a significant boost to Hull City’s chances of success in the Championship.
Fans of Hull City will be eagerly awaiting further developments on this transfer as it could be a game-changer for the club. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as it unfolds.

Trump’s inauguration moving indoors due to weather: Sources
President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration will be moving indoors Monday due to the freezing weather expected in Washington, D.C., sources with knowledge of the inauguration planning told ABC News.
Trump is expected to be sworn in inside the Capitol Rotunda, sources said.
This inauguration is forecast to be the coldest in 40 years.
A quick-moving storm could bring some snow to D.C. on Sunday afternoon.
When Trump is sworn in at noon on Monday, the temperature will be about 18 or 19 degrees. Due to the wind, the wind chill — what temperature it feels like — will be between 5 and 10 degrees.
President Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration in 1985 was also moved inside due to the weather.
The temperature that morning fell to a low of 4 degrees below zero. The temperature was just 7 degrees at noon, marking the coldest January Inauguration Day on record. Reagan’s parade was also canceled.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
Sources have confirmed that President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony will be moved indoors due to inclement weather. The decision to move the ceremony inside was made in order to ensure the safety and comfort of attendees, as well as to protect the delicate equipment and instruments that will be used during the event.Despite initial plans for an outdoor ceremony on the steps of the Capitol building, the forecasted rain and cold temperatures have forced organizers to make the last-minute change. The ceremony will now take place inside the Capitol building, with a limited number of guests in attendance.
While some supporters may be disappointed by the change in venue, it is important to prioritize the safety and well-being of all those involved in the inauguration. Trump’s team is working diligently to ensure that the event runs smoothly and that all necessary precautions are taken to accommodate the change in plans.
Stay tuned for more updates on Trump’s inauguration and any further developments regarding the indoor ceremony.

Wisconsin, 2026 QB Jarin Mock moving in a different direction
Jarin Mock, who committed to Wisconsin in late July, is no longer a part of the Badgers’ 2026 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback from Ohio is back on the market after the two sides parted ways Tuesday.
Mock, from Pickerington North High School, was Wisconsin’s first pledge in the junior cycle, but he was recruited by former coordinator and position coach Phil Longo.
“I knew going in that I was going to commit,” Mock told BadgerBlitz.com in July. “I actually wanted to commit in June but my mom wanted to make sure it was the right place for me. She’s big on academics and wanted to make sure I was taken care of there before I committed.
“Coach Longo was really excited when I told him. It was good to take this visit to make sure Wisconsin was the right place.”
This winter, the Badgers hired Jeff Grimes to coordinate the offense and Kenny Guiton to coach the quarterbacks. After their evaluation, Mock is no longer in the plans moving forward.
Wisconsin could be in the market for two quarterbacks in 2026. So far, UW has extended scholarships to uncommitted signal callers Ryan Hopkins (San Juan Capistrano, CA), Brodie McWhorter (Kingston, GA) and Peyton Falzone (Nazareth, PA). Those three offers, however, were extended by Longo. On Tuesday, the Badgers also sent out a scholarship to Bowe Bentley, an unranked prospect from Texas.
Having Grimes is an indication of what the Badgers want to do in 2025 and beyond. Luke Fickell is returning to a running attack, and Kansas, where Grimes was in 2024, was No. 13 in the country (211.4 yards per game) in rushing offense.
“I would tell you that we want to be more of a pro style,” Fickell said on Signing Day. “And what does that mean? That doesn’t mean anything more than we want to be multiple. We want to be able to play in 11 personnel. We want to be able to play in 12 personnel. We want to be able to play it if we have 13 personnel, if that’s possible, 21, we want to be in the gun. We want to be able to do the things that we’ve done out of the gun in the passing game. But we also want to be able to see ourselves under center for six, eight, 10 snaps a game.”
A three-star junior, Mock chose the Badgers over offers from Central Michigan, Marshall, UMass, and Miami (OH) at the time of his commitment.
Wisconsin, 2026 QB Jarin Mock moving in a different directionIn a surprising turn of events, Wisconsin’s star quarterback Jarin Mock has announced that he will be transferring to a different school for the upcoming season. Mock, who has been a standout player for the Badgers over the past three years, cited personal reasons for his decision to make a change.
“I have loved my time at Wisconsin and am grateful for the opportunities I have had here,” Mock said in a statement. “But after much thought and consideration, I have decided that it is time for me to take my talents elsewhere.”
Mock did not reveal which school he will be transferring to, but sources close to the situation have indicated that several top programs have already expressed interest in the talented quarterback. Mock is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks.
Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst expressed his support for Mock’s decision, saying, “We wish Jarin all the best in his future endeavors and appreciate everything he has done for our program. We will continue to support him as he moves on to the next chapter in his career.”
Mock’s departure leaves a void at the quarterback position for the Badgers, but Chryst remains confident in the team’s ability to find a suitable replacement. Wisconsin fans will undoubtedly be watching closely as the quarterback situation unfolds in the coming months.
