Justin Fields Addresses Future With Steelers After Moving to Backup Role
After an up-and-down tenure with the Chicago Bears, Justin Fields joined one of the most interesting quarterback rooms in football. He began the season as the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers, going 4–2 while throwing for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns and one interception along with 289 rushing yards and five scores on the ground.
Fields was ultimately supplanted by the other big-name quarterback that the Steelers added this offseason, Russell Wilson. While most quarterbacks in his position and set to hit free agency would likely be looking for opportunities to become a starter in 2025, that isn’t necessarily the case for the former No. 11 pick. Ahead of Pittsburgh’s season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday night, Fields told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that he hopes to return next season.
“I want to be here,” Fields said. “I’m kind of tired of learning a new offense every year. This will be my third in four years. Of course I’d love to be back, but that’s all up to God at the end of the day. I’ll be where God wants me to be.”
Fields played fairly well in his starts, but Mike Tomlin ultimately went with the former Super Bowl champion Wilson once he returned from a preseason calf injury. To his credit, Fields has used the opportunity to learn from the sideline and has been extremely complimentary of the veteran signal caller.
“Watching from the sideline, I think I learned a lot in that time,” Fields said. “It changes your perspective. Of course, I’d like to be out there on the field, but I think I’ll look back on this year one day and it’ll all be because of a reason. I’m just trying to take it day by day, learn and get better.”
“Russ has been great,” he added. “Of course, his job is not to mentor me. But anytime I have a question for him, anytime I ask a question he gives me his thoughts on that. I’m always picking his brain on different things.”
The Steelers have decisions to make with both Wilson and Fields once free agency opens. With what is perceived to be a relatively weak 2025 draft class for quarterbacks and a number of teams that could have needs at the position, Fields could still be an interesting reclamation project for teams trying to catch lightning in a bottle the way the Minnesota Vikings have with Sam Darnold and Seattle Seahawks have with Geno Smith in recent seasons.
Justin Fields, the highly-touted rookie quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has recently been relegated to a backup role behind veteran signal-caller Ben Roethlisberger. Despite this setback, Fields remains optimistic about his future with the team.In a recent press conference, Fields addressed his new position on the depth chart and expressed his commitment to learning from Roethlisberger and preparing himself for when his time comes to lead the team.
“I understand that this is part of the process as a rookie quarterback in the NFL,” Fields said. “I have the utmost respect for Ben and what he has accomplished in his career. I see this as an opportunity to soak up as much knowledge as I can from him and continue to develop my skills.”
Fields also emphasized his belief in his abilities and his determination to prove himself when the opportunity arises. “I have full confidence in my abilities and I know that my time will come,” Fields stated. “I will continue to work hard, stay prepared, and be ready to step up whenever my number is called.”
While Fields may be currently serving as the backup to Roethlisberger, his positive attitude and dedication to improvement suggest that he has a bright future ahead with the Steelers. Fans can rest assured that Fields is ready and willing to seize the moment when his time to shine arrives.

It’s that time of year. Out with the old and in with the new. As 2024 comes to a close and 2025 arrives, it’s a good time to celebrate endings and all that we’ve lost. Music is the soundtrack to our lives, quite literally, so let’s put together a little playlist that acknowledges the upcoming annual transition with some great songs.
Here below, we wanted to do just that. To showcase three songs that celebrate endings, the past, and moving on. Indeed, these are three classic rock songs for forgetting the past and pushing ahead.

“Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” by Green Day from Nimrod (1997)
This acoustic-driven track from Green Day’s 1997 LP Nimrod is about the passing of time and how it’s inescapable. The only way to have any control over the fact that we all get older (and pass away) is to be conscious of the moment and try to make the best of it. So, while the pages of the calendar are turning all the time, we can enjoy the flow, enjoy the passing, replace what we lose with something better. Indeed, lead singer Billy Joe Armstrong sings,
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in timeIt’s something unpredictable
But in the end, it’s right
I hope you had the time of your life“Yesterday” by The Beatles (Single, 1965)
This song came to Paul McCartney in a dream. It’s about the love he lost, the love he had yesterday. And now he must reconcile what’s slipped through his proverbial fingers. Today, the song is one of The Beatles’ most famous and beloved. It’s another acoustic-driven track on this list and the softness of the production somehow makes the message easier to swallow (and hear). On the offering, the former mop top sings,
Yesterday
All my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterdaySuddenly
I’m not half the man I used to be
There’s a shadow hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly“Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper from She’s So Unusual (1984)
The chorus of this song highlights time’s march. Not only do the lyrics point to the passing of time but the feel of the song is so nostalgic and melancholy it almost has become a sonic stand-in for sand through the hourglass. On the song, Cyndi Lauper sings about staying loyal and connected to those who mean something to her despite the passing of time. On the tune, she sings emotively,
Lyin’ in my bed, I hear the clock tick and think of you
Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new
Flashback, warm nights almost left behind
Suitcase of memories
Time afterSometimes you picture me, I’m walkin’ too far ahead
You’re callin’ to me, I can’t hear what you’ve said
Then you say, “Go slow”, I fall behind
The second hand unwindsIf you’re lost, you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I’ll be waiting
Time after time
If you’re lost, you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, (I’ll be waiting) I will be waiting

Dallas Love Field travelers won’t have to journey as far to catch an Uber or Lyft at the airport starting Friday.
Airport officials say they’re moving the rideshare pickup area closer to the terminal, which is expected to cut the walk from baggage claim roughly in half. The move, first announced in the fall, comes after the airport received backlash from travelers when rideshare pickup was relocated from the curb outside of baggage claim to one of the parking garages in September 2023, forcing passengers to walk about 10 minutes to meet their drivers.
Rideshare pick-ups will now be next to the valet pavilion on the terminal’s southeast side. Taxis, limos and other on-demand pickups will be nearby in Level 1 of Garage C. Passengers with disabilities will still be able to be picked up curbside at the terminal’s lower level.
A little more than a year ago, officials at the city-owned airport announced plans to move rideshare and other pick-ups further from the terminal to decrease curbside congestion. But plans to revise that move were announced in October after Love Field passenger complaints and officials admitting to using old metrics to estimate the amount of space and demand needed for the pickups.
“During this time, feedback has continuously indicated extreme dissatisfaction despite valiant customer service efforts and way-finding resources implemented by (Dallas’ Department of Aviation),” assistant city manager Dev Rastogi told the Dallas City Council in an Oct. 4 memo. She said the relocation to Garage B was based on demand capacity analysis done before the 2020 pandemic.
Airport officials say the new pickup spot has retrofitted curbs, new road striping, more signs and other improvements hoped to improve people’s experience.
Dallas Love Field Airport has announced that it will be moving its rideshare pickup area closer to the terminal following backlash from passengers. The current rideshare pickup location, which is located at the far end of the airport parking garage, has been a source of frustration for travelers who have to walk long distances with their luggage to reach their ride.
Starting next month, the rideshare pickup area will be relocated to a more convenient spot closer to the terminal. This move is in response to feedback from passengers who have voiced their concerns about the current setup.
Airport officials have stated that the new location will offer easier access for passengers and will help improve the overall customer experience at Love Field.
Passengers can expect to see signage and directions to the new rideshare pickup area in the coming weeks. The airport is also working on implementing other improvements to make the rideshare experience more efficient and user-friendly.
Overall, this change is a positive step towards addressing passenger concerns and making Dallas Love Field a more passenger-friendly airport.

The Aftermath of Shit Show 2025: Rebuilding and Moving Forward
The year 2025 will forever be marked in history as the year of the Shit Show. A series of catastrophic events, both man-made and natural, left the world in a state of chaos and despair. From political unrest to environmental disasters, the aftermath of the Shit Show has been a challenging time for people all over the globe. As we begin the process of rebuilding and moving forward, it is important to reflect on the lessons learned from the events of 2025. One of the most glaring issues that came to light during this time was the lack of preparedness and response from governments and organizations. It became clear that we must do better in terms of disaster planning and response in order to prevent such widespread devastation from occurring again in the future.
Another key takeaway from the Shit Show was the importance of unity and collaboration. In times of crisis, it is essential that we come together as a global community to support one another and work towards common goals. The events of 2025 showed us that when we work together, we are capable of overcoming even the most daunting challenges.
As we look towards the future, it is crucial that we focus on building a more sustainable and resilient world. This means taking proactive measures to address climate change, reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, and protect the environment for future generations. It also means investing in infrastructure and technology that can help us better prepare for and respond to disasters.
The road ahead will not be easy, but with determination and a collective effort, we can rebuild and move forward from the aftermath of the Shit Show. It is up to each and every one of us to do our part in creating a better world for ourselves and for future generations. Let us learn from the mistakes of the past and work towards a brighter and more hopeful future.
