Where Bills’ Josh Allen sits in 2024 NFL MVP odds heading into Week 18

The Buffalo Bills might have another MVP on their hands in 2024.

Quarterback Josh Allen is playing at a blistering pace this season. Most recently, did take his foot off the gas in 40-14 win over the New York Jets in Week 17.

Even so with two games to go, the Bills QB has promising odds to still be named the NFL MVP this season.

Prior to Buffalo’s Week 18 clash with the New England Patriots, here a quick rundown of current MVP odds (via Draft Kings):

With the regular season coming to a close and the playoffs looming, many football fans are starting to speculate on who will take home the coveted NFL MVP award for the 2024 season. One player who has been gaining momentum in the MVP conversation is Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Heading into Week 18, Allen has been putting up impressive numbers and leading the Bills to a successful season. With his strong arm, mobility, and ability to make plays both on the ground and through the air, Allen has solidified himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

As the regular season winds down, sportsbooks have started to release their odds for the NFL MVP award, and Allen finds himself near the top of the list. While he may not be the favorite, Allen’s strong performances have definitely put him in the conversation for the award.

As we head into the final week of the regular season, all eyes will be on Josh Allen as he looks to lead the Bills to a strong finish and solidify his case for the NFL MVP award. With his impressive play this season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Allen’s odds continue to improve as he makes his case for the league’s top honor.

  • NFL MVP race: Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow? Plus, the case for Saquon Barkley

NFL MVP race: Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow? Plus, the case for Saquon Barkley

When assessing NFL MVP candidates one year ago, I lamented the dearth of candidates producing at levels high enough for consideration.

There’s no such problem as the 2024 MVP race enters its final stages.

Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and Saquon Barkley are superstar talents whose conventional and/or advanced stats match historic standards for MVP consideration.

Jackson was my favorite when assessing the situation one month ago, partly because his production was allowing Baltimore to win despite terrible support from the Ravens’ defense and special teams. The picture looks different now. Allen and Burrow have surged. Barkley, having topped 2,000 yards rushing, fits into a different category as a non-quarterback. The best case for him goes well beyond statistics.

We’ll start with the quarterbacks because they are obviously most valuable. We’ll finish with the special case for Barkley, who has helped transform the most pass-oriented organization of the past quarter-century.

The best MVP candidates, in my view, are high-producing, dynamic QBs for teams that win despite lackluster support from their defenses and special teams. These are the ultimate win-because-of quarterbacks.

NFL QB stock report, Week 18: Has Packers’ Jordan Love validated his huge contract extension?

Patrick Mahomes has set the standard. He led the 2022 Kansas City Chiefs to Super Bowl glory after the team finished 29th in combined expected points added (EPA) on defense/special teams. He did this even though his defense/special teams failed to come alive in the playoffs the way Peyton Manning’s 2006 Super Bowl-winning Indianapolis Colts did after ranking 32nd in the regular season (in that case, Bob Sanders’ return to the defense helped Indy win it all despite Manning tossing three touchdown passes with seven interceptions in the postseason).

Mahomes proved to be the ultimate MVP. His case this season is tougher to make in the absence of elite statistical production, so he’s not part of this discussion, which focuses on betting favorites for the award (imagine if someone had told you before the season that Kansas City would take a 15-1 record into Week 18 without Mahomes — the preseason favorite at +500 — registering on the MVP radar).

Press play or drag the slider on the chart below to see how leading MVP candidates’ production and betting odds have shifted over the season, week by week. Burrow was far out of contention, as distant as +25000 three weeks ago and +15000 one week ago, until jumping to +2000 after Week 17’s overtime win over the Denver Broncos.

    scatter visualization

MVP voting closes before playoff results are known, so we can’t make a full evaluation. We do not even know whether Burrow’s 8-8 Cincinnati Bengals (29th in EPA on defense/special teams) will finish with a winning record, let alone reach the postseason. Jackson’s Ravens are 11-5 despite ranking 24th in EPA on defense/special teams, while Allen’s Buffalo Bills are 13-3 while ranking 15th in those phases that usually are critical for winning. Allen is expected to sit most of the Bills’ finale, while Burrow and Jackson could add to their resumes.

Allen overtook Jackson as the betting favorite after a Week 11 to 15 stretch that saw Buffalo beat Kansas City, put up 42 points on the Los Angeles Rams and win at Detroit, 48-42. Jackson’s Ravens lost in Weeks 11 and 13 before taking off Week 14 for their bye.

That stretch is fresher and more relevant to the current discussion than a Week 4 to 5 run featuring Baltimore’s victories over Buffalo (35-10) and Cincinnati (41-38). We’ll take the full season into account here.

As fans debate the MVP merits of their favorite players, let’s take a quick look at basic stats for Jackson, Allen and Burrow before evaluating them through other contextual lenses.

Establishing basic MVP credentials for the leading QB candidates

Ten quarterbacks have combined to win 21 MVPs since 2000.

Through 16 games, those QBs averaged 4,373 yards passing with 37 touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 108.8 passer rating during their MVP seasons, per TruMedia.

They averaged 40 total touchdowns with 11 turnovers.

They averaged 165.9 total EPA on pass plays and rushes (0.27 per play), not counting kneeldowns.

Jackson, Allen and Burrow measure up to those standards except for Burrow’s 116.7 total EPA, which would rank 19th among those 21 MVP seasons, just behind 2021 Aaron Rodgers and ahead of 2003 Steve McNair. The lowest since 2000, by far, belonged to Jackson in 2023. His 51.5 EPA through 16 games was less than half the 16-game totals for the next-lowest MVP since 2000 (2015 Cam Newton).

Assessing MVP-caliber performance frequency: Advantage, Jackson?

As noted, those 10 quarterbacks with 21 MVP seasons since 2000 averaged 0.27 EPA per play when kneeldowns are excluded.

The table below stacks Jackson, Allen and Burrow by their best to worst EPA per play for each of their 16 starts this season.

Jackson met the MVP threshold of +0.27 EPA per play 11 times, compared to eight times for Allen and four for Burrow. Jackson also had the fewest games with negative EPA per play.

Jackson accounts for seven of the top 14 single-game figures.

Median ranks for their 48 single-game figures: 20th for Jackson, 23rd for Allen, 30th for Burrow.

This is one way to get a feel for consistency.

The Ravens have gone 11-0 when Jackson has produced at the historic MVP level, but 0-5 when he did not.

The splits are 7-1 and 6-2 for Allen, compared to 2-2 and 6-6 for Burrow.

This suggests Baltimore has needed MVP production from its quarterback to win.

Burrow has elite receiving weapons in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Allen has a strong offensive line. Jackson has a dominant running back in Derrick Henry. These are factors worth noting, but I don’t see them as significant enough to tip the balance one way or another.

Trading places: Burrow overtakes Jackson atop Betrayal Index, but wins less frequently

If the best MVP candidates are indeed dynamic quarterbacks whose elite production helps their teams overcome weak defense/special teams to win, refreshing the Betrayal Index can help.

QB Betrayal Index: Lamar Jackson acing his toughest test; Justin Herbert finally gets a break

Burrow and Jackson have swapped places at the top since our check-in after Week 10, but Jackson has a much better record (11-5, compared to 8-8 for Burrow), which factors into the MVP equation. Being good enough on offense to overcome the other components and win is the goal. Sometimes, that’s unrealistic, but no MVP quarterback’s team has had worse than an 11-5 record from a win percentage standpoint.

The table below shows all 32 current quarterbacks with at least eight starts this season. It stacks them by the difference between where these players rank among each other in QB EPA per start, and where their teams rank in defense/special teams EPA during each QB’s starts. Dallas has two players on the chart. Cleveland has none.

High-producing QBs with weak defenses/special teams rise to the top. These are the most “betrayed” quarterbacks. Burrow and Jackson lead the way.

The San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy and the Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa are close behind Burrow and Jackson, something for their teams to consider when making full-season evaluations.

QBs appearing in the middle of the Betrayal Index rank about the same in QB EPA and team defense/special teams EPA, whether good or bad. That’s how Jordan Love (good QB EPA, good team defense/special teams EPA) and Gardner Minshew II (bad, bad) appear in close proximity.

Low-producing QBs with strong defenses/special teams fall to the bottom. It’s striking to see the Houston Texans’ C.J. Stroud lagging to such a degree.

Taking this another step with our QB MVP frontrunners, the table below shows just how many games Jackson, Allen and Burrow have played with strong, average and weak support from their defenses/special teams.

Burrow (five) and Allen (two) have combined to play seven games with worse defense/special teams support than the Ravens’ worst game, but Jackson has had more overall games with below-average support. Buffalo’s offense has started a league-high 28 drives in opponent territory. The figure is 19 for the Bengals and 14 for Baltimore. That helps explain why Allen’s Bills average more points per drive but less EPA per drive.

Jackson is 6-3 when the Ravens’ combined EPA on defense/special teams was -7.0 or worse. Allen is 3-2 in those games. Burrow lags at 1-6, including 1-3 in games similar to the ones Jackson played in.

    Why Barkley should be considered

Anyone arguing for a running back to win MVP risks getting laughed out of Math Club.

The statistical value associated with Barkley’s 2,005-yard rushing season (13 touchdowns, 5.8 yards per carry) doesn’t compare to the value quarterbacks contribute mostly through passing.

Barkley’s 46.9 EPA on rushes and receptions ranks second to the Detroit Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs (54.2) among running backs this season, which isn’t very exciting.

Only eight of the 35 running backs with at least 500 yards on the ground this season have produced positive EPA on even half of their rushes. Barkley is at 49 percent, meaning most of his runs actually cost the team value.

But there’s a case to be made that Barkley saved the Philadelphia Eagles this season by driving a philosophical shift that would not have occurred without him.

    go-deeper

    GO DEEPER

Restacking the NFC: Lions, Eagles or Vikings? Who else is dangerous? Sando’s Pick Six

For decades, the organization has embraced analytics, which have affirmed that passing is the key to winning. Philly has hired only offensive-minded coaches over the past 25 years: Andy Reid, Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson and now Nick Sirianni. Most of them were oriented toward the pass.

From 2000 through last season, the Eagles ranked No. 1 on the Cook Index, which measures how frequently teams pass in generally neutral situations: early downs in the first 28 minutes of games, before score differential and time remaining exert more influence on play calling. They were eighth on the Cook Index last season — naturally inclined to pass first.

Philly has a highly paid quarterback in Jalen Hurts and two highly paid elite receivers in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. The offensive coordinator the Eagles hired before this season, Kellen Moore, was known primarily as a pass-oriented play caller.

But this team, with this dual-threat quarterback and this offensive line, appears much better when it runs the ball enough to reduce exposure to the dropback passing game. Did it take signing a running back of Barkley’s pedigree, ability and earning power for the Eagles to lean into the identity Hurts and the offense needed to embrace to be their best selves? An MVP case for Barkley could make that point.

The Eagles rank 25th on the Cook Index this season. Hurts is attempting about seven fewer passes per game. There’s a calm and consistency to the team’s offensive operation. Barkley appears to be the leading reason for that. He is also the ninth player to surpass 2,000 yards rushing, and he didn’t need a 17th game to get there (O.J. Simpson was the only runner to do it in a 14-game season).

The odds are against Barkley winning the award. Jackson, Allen and Burrow have provided more verifiable value to their teams. But it’s plausible to say Barkley’s contributions go beyond the impressive numbers.

Voters have no shortage of viable candidates this season.

(Photo of Lamar Jackson, right, and Josh Allen: Greg Fiume / Getty Images)

The NFL MVP race is heating up, with several standout players making a case for the prestigious award. Among them are quarterbacks Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow. Allen, the Buffalo Bills’ signal-caller, has been lighting up the stat sheet with his impressive passing and rushing abilities. Jackson, the dynamic playmaker for the Baltimore Ravens, has been electrifying fans with his dual-threat skills. And Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals’ rising star, has been turning heads with his poise and accuracy in his sophomore season.

But let’s not forget about the case for New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley. Despite missing most of the 2020 season due to injury, Barkley has returned to form this year and has been a force to be reckoned with on the gridiron. He has showcased his speed, power, and elusiveness, making defenders miss and racking up yards both on the ground and through the air. Barkley’s impact on the Giants’ offense cannot be understated, and he has proven to be a game-changer whenever he touches the ball.

As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how the MVP race unfolds and which player ultimately takes home the award. Will it be one of the talented quarterbacks in Allen, Jackson, or Burrow? Or will Barkley make a strong case for himself and emerge as a dark horse candidate? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain – these players are all deserving of recognition for their outstanding performances on the field.

Will Ravens’ Lamar Jackson cap best season with third MVP?

BALTIMORE — When Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson runs out of the tunnel or makes a big play, “MVP” chants fill M&T Bank Stadium, just like when he won the award in 2019 and 2023.

But, unlike those years, Jackson is not the overwhelming favorite to win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award heading into the final game of the regular season. In a much-debated race, he has the second-best odds behind Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, according to ESPN BET.

Saturday’s finale against the Cleveland Browns (4:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN) represents Jackson’s last chance to show why he should receive his third MVP. Like the many times he has eluded a fast-closing defender before throwing a touchdown pass, Jackson has made a career at beating the odds.

“As far as I’m concerned, he’s our MVP, [and] he’s our guy,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “But you know what? That’s really not what we’re thinking about. I haven’t heard anybody talk about that. I haven’t heard Lamar talk about it. We’re just trying to win the next game.”

Allen and the Bills (13-3) have locked up the No. 2 seed heading into Week 18, and with a win over the Browns (3-13), Baltimore (11-5) can win the AFC North, secure the conference’s No. 3 seed and host a wild-card game. Jackson can also put the finishing touches on one of the most remarkable regular seasons ever for a quarterback, which included surpassing Michael Vick as the NFL’s all-time leading rushing quarterback on Christmas Day.

Jackson’s best statistical season of his seven-year career includes ranking No. 1 in the NFL in four different categories: QBR (78.0), yards per pass attempt (8.9), touchdown pass percentage (8.8%) and passing touchdown-to-interception ratio (9.8).

Here are some of the unprecedented feats that Jackson can still accomplish:

    – With 3,955 passing yards, Jackson needs 45 yards to become the first player in NFL history with over 4,000 passing yards and 800 rushing yards in a single season.

    – With one more touchdown pass (39) and no interceptions, Jackson can record the fewest interceptions (four) by a player who has thrown for 40 or more touchdown passes in a season.

    – With a passer rating of 121.6, Jackson could finish with the best single-season passer rating in NFL history, which was set by New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers in 2011 (122.5 rating).

“This is the MVP of the National Football League, yet again, and it’s the best version of the MVP,” Ravens quarterbacks coach Tee Martin said. “And so to me, as opposed to trying to knock him or say voter fatigue or whatever people are trying to call this, we need to be awarding the growth and making note of it. Because what we’re all witnessing is the growth of a player that is not even 30 years old yet. And so that’s amazing to me.”

HEADING INTO THE Christmas game against the Ravens, Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said Jackson “definitely jumps off the tape as the best player I’ve seen this year.”

“Talk about the MVP? He’s definitely the MVP in my mind for what he’s doing not only run game-wise, but throwing the football, the accuracy, the decision-making,” Ryans said.

Ryans got an up-close look at Jackson in the Texans’ 31-2 loss to the Ravens. In the second quarter, Jackson rolled to his right before faking out four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Danielle Hunter along the sideline. Before throwing, Jackson scrambled around to buy 8.4 seconds, his second-longest time to throw on a touchdown this season.

Perhaps more impressive was how Jackson turned his back and threw up his hands in celebration before the pass reached tight end Isaiah Likely for a 9-yard touchdown.

“I get to see Lamar every day [and] the things he’s able to do, and then carrying it over to the game,” Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum said. “He’s just a special player. He’s extremely fun to play with — just the things he’s able to do — and think there’s no one more deserving of that [MVP] award than Lamar Jackson.”

Jackson would be the seventh player to win NFL MVP three times since it was first awarded in 1957, joining quarterbacks Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Johnny Unitas, Brett Favre and Tom Brady and running back Jim Brown. When the MVP is unveiled on Feb. 6, Jackson would be the youngest to win this award three times at the age of 28.

“If it [does] happen, it happens, [and] that’d be dope,” Jackson said. “I’m not really focused on that. That’s never been my goal though. Even [with] the first or second one, [winning MVP has] never been my goal. I always want to finish with the championship, but I’ve been falling short.”

When Jackson has remained healthy, his MVP resume is extraordinary. He has started and finished three previous seasons — 2019, 2020 and 2023 — and he has been named the MVP in two of them.

Jackson has tried to distance himself from the conversations on social media about MVP.

“You can talk about it all you want, but you want to tag me to get like clickbait,” Jackson said. “Because sometimes I [will] say something back like, ‘That was stupid.’ It is what it is. I don’t care though. I really don’t care about the talk [and] the [conversations]. I’m trying to win.”

JACKSON’S IMPROVEMENT AS a passer is the crux of his MVP case. He’s on the verge of his first 4,000-yard passing season and first 40-touchdown pass year.

But this was also a year in which he became the most prolific running quarterback in NFL history.

No one was less surprised than Vick when Jackson broke his 13-year record against the Texans. In 2018, after watching Jackson make two starts, Vick told ESPN that he thought Jackson would have the best shot to surpass him.

Jackson moved past Vick with his 6,110th rushing yard in 102 games — 41 fewer than what it took Vick to amass his total. Vick acknowledged Jackson breaking the record on Fox’s pregame show, saying, “I won’t say it didn’t sting a little bit, but he deserved it.”

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson, who is fourth on the career rushing list for quarterbacks, was asked whether the record solidified Jackson as the best dual-threat QB ever.

“I mean, that’s a pretty good question,” Wilson said. “I think he’s definitely one of them for sure. When you think about the greats like Michael Vick, he was the one that just really just lit up a whole stadium. But I think that guys like Lamar [and] Michael Vick, those guys are unique individuals in what [they] can do. So I couldn’t disagree with it. That’s for sure.”

Other than Jackson, Wilson is the only active quarterback who has rushed for over 5,000 yards, with 5,446. Allen is third among active quarterbacks with 4,142 yards.

Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who has coached against Vick and Jackson, believes a quarterback will eventually pass Jackson on the rushing list.

“There’s a premium on quarterbacks that can throw and read coverage and accuracy and all that, but along with that, if a guy can move, then that’s extra,” Zimmer said. “It’s kind of like — this is real old-school — but a variation of the wishbone kind of what they’re doing now with the quarterback runs, but they can throw the ball a lot better. Yeah, I’m sure somebody will come along and be like these two guys, but they’re rare athletes.”

With the way Jackson has been able to run in his seventh season, it wouldn’t be shocking if he adds 3,000 or 4,000 more rushing yards before his career is over.

But Jackson doesn’t believe he will be the league’s No. 1 rushing quarterback forever.

“If it [does get broken], hats off to whoever does it, because records are meant to be broken,” Jackson said. “It’s nothing to be mad about. It’s just another one-of-one type of generational talented guy, I believe, if it happens.”

NFL Nation reporters Todd Archer and Brooke Pryor contributed to this report.

As the NFL season progresses, the Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson has been making waves with his exceptional performance on the field. With two MVP awards already under his belt, many are wondering if Jackson will cap off his best season yet with a third MVP title.

Jackson has been electrifying audiences with his dynamic playmaking abilities, showcasing his speed, agility, and arm strength. He has been a key factor in leading the Ravens to victories and has been a dominant force on the field.

If Jackson continues to perform at this high level, there is a strong possibility that he could secure his third MVP award. His statistics are impressive, and his impact on the game is undeniable. With several games left in the season, Jackson has the opportunity to solidify his case for the MVP title.

Ravens fans are hopeful that Jackson will continue to shine and lead their team to success. With his talent and determination, there is no doubt that he has the potential to cap off his best season yet with a third MVP award. Stay tuned to see if Jackson will make history once again.

The calendar shifts, and so does the Kia Race to the MVP.

The most vivid rise on the Kia MVP Ladder is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the unquestioned leader of the surging Oklahoma City Thunder. Both the player and team enter 2025 boosted by a December that saw them go 12-1 (the Emirates NBA Cup Championship loss doesn’t count in the standings).

Gilgeous-Alexander has been brilliant all season and had three 40-point games over the last 10 days. That level of consistency must be saluted along with the success of the Thunder, who remain in the West penthouse. Therefore, he moves up a step and is tapping Nikola Jokić on the shoulder.

Also, Victor Wembanyama moves into the top five helped by an impressive December (and Christmas Day game in New York) as well, on both ends of the floor. He’s No. 7 in scoring and is more efficient than a year ago. He’s also averaging more blocks than the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat.

Meanwhile: “The Joker” ranks top-three in the NBA in scoring, rebounds and assists and therefore keeps space between him and the field on the ladder. This also helps is case: Denver is up to No. 4 in the Western Conference.

Setting the stage this week: Established multiple MVP winner meets a potential multiple winner in the future when Jokić plays Wembanyama on Friday in Denver (9 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass) and Saturday (8 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass) in San Antonio. This big-man showdown is a must-watch if only because both are playing the best ball of their careers — which is saying plenty about Jokić and explains Wembanyama’s steep potential.

The stat to know: Gilgeous-Alexander closed out 2024 strong with a hot December: 33.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.5 steals per game. For all of 2024 (January through December), he led all players in scoring.

What they are saying: “He’s looking like the MVP, man. He’s consistent every night. His team gonna give him the ball and just let him rock out every night … I love watching that. It’s incredible, man. If he (keeps doing) that, I hope they give (the MVP) to him this year for sure … he’s playing out his mind right now.” — Wolves guard Anthony Edwards, on Gilgeous-Alexander.

    1. Nikola Jokić, Denver Nuggets

    Last week’s ranking: No. 1
Season stats: 30.7 points, 13.0 rebounds, 9.7 assists

His case: Jokić remains the standard of excellence in the league thus far. His recent game against the Hawks threw another log on his raging case: The first 20-plus, 15-plus, 15-plus triple double in under 30 minutes in NBA history. And that followed 30 points, 22 rebounds, 11 assists and four steals against Utah.

At almost 31 points per game, Jokić is scoring roughly 10 points over his career average. How many MVP candidates or MVP winners ever managed to do that?

    2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder

    Last week’s ranking: No. 3
Season stats: 31.2 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 6.1 apg

His case: He seems incapable so far of going through even a mini-slump. Even after the Emirates NBA Cup title game when he shot an uncharacteristic 8-for-24, Gilgeous-Alexander returned with 35 or more points in five of the next seven games.

His defense, much like OKC’s, has leveled up as well. Gilgeous-Alexander ranks No. 3 in the NBA in steals per game (2 spg), has a pair of four-steal games and one with five steals. He’s also No. 2 among guards in total blocks, too.

    3. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks

    Last week’s ranking: No. 2
Season stats: 32.4 ppg, 11.7 rpg, 6 apg

His case: Antetokounmpo remains a two-way force, although injuries (back spasms, illness, nothing major) caused him to miss a few games since winning the Emirates NBA Cup. But he returned to an MVP level since rejoining the lineup and leads the league in scoring.

Antetokounmpo has a key clash with Wembanyama next Wednesday (9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN), their first meeting of the season. It’ll be an interesting MVP checkpoint for him and the Spurs’ young center who, like Giannis, provides impact at both ends.

    4. Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics

    Last week’s ranking: No. 5
Season stats: 28.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 5.6 apg

His case: Another stretch of steadiness by Tatum, who has 20 or more points in eight straight games and shooting over 50% during that time. He dropped 33 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals on Thursday against Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves.

Tatum recently remarked that other MVP candidates must do more to help their teams, while in his case, the defending champs are loaded and therefore the demands on him aren’t as great.

    5. Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio Spurs

    Last week’s ranking: No. 6
Season stats: 25.6 ppg, 10 rpg, 3.9 bpg

His case: Massive leap by the second-year center over the last few weeks, punctuated by his tremendous Christmas game in New York. In December he became the first player in NBA history to compile 300 points, 100 rebounds, 50 blocks, 50 assists and 40 three-pointers in a calendar month.

Wemby is also a strong candidate for Kia Defensive Player of the Year. He’s leading the league in blocks, more than a full block over Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler.

    The Next 5:

    6. Luka Dončić, Dallas Mavericks.
    7. Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks.
    8. Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers.
    9. Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers.
    10. Alperen Şengün, Houston Rockets.

And five more (listed alphabetically): Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks; Tyler Herro, Miami Heat; LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers; Norman Powell, LA Clippers; Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks.

In a season filled with standout performances and impressive stat lines, the race for the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award is heating up. And now, there’s a new contender in the mix as Victor Wembanyama has joined the top 5 in the Kia MVP Ladder.

The 7-foot-2 French phenom has been turning heads with his dominant play on both ends of the court. Wembanyama is averaging a double-double with over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game, while also leading the league in blocks with an impressive 3.5 per game.

His impact on the defensive end has been a game-changer for his team, as he alters shots and protects the paint with his incredible length and timing. Offensively, Wembanyama has shown flashes of brilliance with his scoring ability in the post and his improving outside shot.

With his recent performances, Wembanyama has catapulted himself into the conversation for the MVP award, joining the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo in the top 5 of the Kia MVP Ladder.

As the season progresses, it will be exciting to see how Wembanyama continues to make his mark on the league and solidify his case for the MVP award. Stay tuned for more updates on the Kia MVP Ladder as the race for the award heats up.

NBA MVP Rankings: The top 5 contenders in the award race at the start of the new year

    (Bruno Rouby/Yahoo Sports Illustration)

    (Bruno Rouby/Yahoo Sports Illustration)

Happy New Year! We’re nearly at the midway point of the NBA season, and a lot has changed since the last time we checked in on the awards race.

Today, let’s take a look specifically at MVP. In my opinion, there are three serious contenders vying for first place: former multi-time winners Nikola Jokić and Giannis Antetokounmpo, plus Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looking for his first trophy. Everyone else is more likely fighting for fourth or fifth place, unless something dramatically changes soon.

And things could. On Christmas, Luka Dončić suffered a calf injury that’ll render him ineligible for awards. He would have had a chance, but he will not reach the 65-game requirement. Dončić has already missed 11 games, and the expectation in Dallas is that he’ll be sidelined until late February or even March, so he’ll be way out of the running for his first MVP award and thus isn’t included in today’s exercise.

Let’s get to it, starting with my current favorite to be the 2024-25 NBA MVP:

Oklahoma City is on a 69-win pace, despite losing Isaiah Hartenstein to start the season and Chet Holmgren for the majority of it. The main reason is simple: Gilgeous-Alexander, dominating on both ends and pushing his team to heights no one can match. When SGA is on the floor, the Thunder annihilate opponents, outscoring them by 16.7 points per 100 possessions. Take him off, and they’re a league-average team with a -0.2 net rating.

Last season, Gilgeous-Alexander finished second in MVP voting, posting monstrous scoring numbers. This year, he’s even better. SGA is taking a higher volume of 3s off the dribble (2.6 last year to 5.5 this year), and making more 3s off the catch (35.6% last year to 52.2% this year). But what really gives him the nod over Jokić, who’s better than ever offensively? And over Antetokounmpo, who’s dragging his team to victories? Defense.

SGA ranks seventh in the NBA in steals per game, is tied with Derrick White for the lead in blocks by a guard and constantly churns out the type of hustle plays coaches dream their stars will make. He slithers over screens with ease, disrupts passing lanes with active hands and rotates into the paint to contest shots or grab rebounds. It would be understandable if a superstar scorer like Gilgeous-Alexander were taking breathers on defense, but instead his performance fortifies the Thunder as one of the elite defensive units of the modern era.

With Gilgeous-Alexander leading the way, OKC could push 70 wins. Without him, it’s scrapping for a play-in spot. He’s putting up Hall of Fame-level offensive numbers while playing All-Defensive-caliber defense. If the worst thing you can say is that his teammates are too good, it feels more like nitpicking when the stats are a wash compared to other leading candidates. But the wins? That’s an avalanche in SGA’s favor.

    BetMGM odds: -110

After winning the NBA Cup in Las Vegas, the Bucks dropped three of their next five games with Giannis missing four of them due to an illness. In his return on Tuesday, he attempted just four shots in the first half and looked to still be on the mend. The Bucks fell down by 19 points to the Pacers in the third quarter, but then Antetokounmpo activated the same MVP mode that he used to lead his team out of an early-season hole and back into the playoff race.

Giannis scored at will offensively, finishing with power at the rim, displaying his improved midrange prowess and playmaking for his teammates. Defensively, Doc Rivers slid him to the 5 for extended minutes, and he turned the water off on Indiana’s offense. Through his relentless two-way dominance, he willed the Bucks to a victory. This is what Giannis does — when things look bleak, he steps in, takes control and drags his team to the finish line. Don’t be surprised to see him back at the top of the MVP race by season’s end.

    BetMGM odds: +1000

Jokić remains the NBA’s best offensive maestro. Already boasting three MVPs and a Finals MVP, this might somehow be the best version of Jokić we’ve seen on offense because of his 3-point prowess. Without him, the Nuggets would be one of the worst teams in the league.

Jokić has more on his plate than ever before. The team has dealt with injuries, including to the team’s best defender, Aaron Gordon. And offensively, Jamal Murray looks like a shell of his former self, forcing Jokić to spend more energy on offense rather than conserving it for defensive efforts. This has hurt Jokić’s case for MVP, since he’s been better in the past on defense. The moment when Anfernee Simons scooted into an open paint for a game-winning layup, with Jokić failing to rotate over to contest the shot, is a moment that could stick in the collective memory when it comes time to vote.

Jokić could close the season playing defense at the level he can, while continuing to carry Denver’s offense and run away with the award. The Nuggets are nothing without Jokić. But in such a tight race, that won’t guarantee him a fourth MVP.

    BetMGM odds: +105

Take Tatum away and Boston’s nowhere near the contender it is. He’s a great defender, an active rebounder, and he chips in as a playmaker when needed. He’s the ultimate “whatever it takes” guy. In another reality, if the Celtics leaned on him to drop over 30 points per game, we might be talking about Tatum as the MVP. But that’s not the Celtics’ game. They’ve built a roster so deep that Tatum doesn’t need to carry a team every night, and ironically, that hurts him in the MVP race.

Everything I said about SGA leading a winning team applies to Tatum — just dial it down a notch. SGA carries a larger offensive load and he’s a more efficient scorer. So while Tatum’s brilliance may not shine as brightly in the MVP conversation, he is the linchpin of a team built for greatness.

    BetMGM odds: +2200

I get it — putting Wembanyama in the MVP conversation feels like it’s happening too fast. He’s 20 years old. He hasn’t hit his ceiling. And yet, his production demands attention: 25.6 points, 10 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.9 blocks. Defensively, he’s already a game-changing force blocking shots, altering drives and scaring opponents away from the paint entirely. And when they do challenge him, they shoot an absurd 13.7% worse within six feet of the rim. With Wemby on the floor, the Spurs operate at a top-five defensive level.

After averaging just 18.3 points on 54.2% true shooting through the first 10 games, it looked like Wembanyama might struggle to find his rhythm in Year 2 as he added more 3-point attempts to his arsenal. Then came the eruption — 34 points against the Kings, 50 against the Wizards — and the Spurs started winning. Since that slow start, he’s averaging 29.6 points on a blistering 63.3% true shooting. It’s dominance at every level: 86.4% from the line, 79.4% at the rim, 64.8% in the paint, 40.4% from midrange and 38.4% from deep. These improved numbers follow the same skyrocketing trajectory he’s been on for years.

For now, both the numbers and the eye test lead to the same conclusion: Wembanyama is already one of the NBA’s best players. And if he continues on this path, someday the MVP conversation won’t just include him. It will revolve around him.

    BetMGM odds: +6600

ESPN’s MVP straw poll offers a sneak peek into how the electorate is leaning. Right now, there’s a pretty clear top tier — Jokić, SGA, and Giannis — all logging over 600 total points, with Tatum cemented as a strong fourth after nabbing 95 of the 100 votes. But 10 other players received votes in the fifth spot, including Wemby, who got my nod today. Since Luka will be out of the running, the field is even more open. With MVP votes so concentrated at the top, there’s a wide-open field of talent deserving recognition — both in the MVP mix and for All-NBA honors. So let’s take a look at my All-NBA teams through this point of the season, followed by some takeaways:

    First Team
    Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Thunder
    Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks
    Nikola Jokić, Nuggets
    Jayson Tatum, Celtics
    Victor Wembanyama, Spurs

    Second Team
    Karl-Anthony Towns, Knicks
    Jalen Brunson, Knicks
    Evan Mobley, Cavaliers
    Donovan Mitchell, Cavaliers
    LeBron James, Lakers

    Third Team
    Anthony Davis, Lakers
    Jaren Jackson Jr., Grizzlies
    Kyrie Irving, Mavericks
    Jaylen Brown, Celtics
    Anthony Edwards, Timberwolves

On the radar: Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Alperen Şengün, Jalen Johnson, Tyrese Maxey, Cade Cunningham, Ja Morant, Tyler Herro, Trae Young, Jalen Williams, Jimmy Butler, Darius Garland, Domantas Sabonis, De’Aaron Fox, Damian Lillard, LaMelo Ball, Zach LaVine

Note: Luka Dončić and Franz Wagner will not qualify. Joel Embiid, Chet Holmgren and Paolo Banchero are already disqualified.

Mobley has taken the leap: Mobley is still a dominant defensive presence, and now he’s knocking down 43% of his 2.5 3-point attempts per game. Add just a touch more shot creation, and he’s building on the momentum from his impressive playoff run.

LeBron is the only remaining OG (for now): The Christmas Day interview with LeBron, Steph and KD was a reminder they’re all still relevant, but only one of them is still sitting at the All-NBA grown-ups table: LeBron. Steph’s scoring volume is way down and KD can’t even drag the Suns into a play-in spot. You can’t count out Steph or KD. There’s a lot of basketball left to be played. But for now, only LeBron has earned a spot.

Knicks won the KAT trade: Towns is delivering some of the best basketball of his career, posting a personal-best 66.2% true shooting. A big part of that success comes from his new partnership with Jalen Brunson. Together, they’ve run over 500 pick-and-rolls this season — more than any other duo — and they’re fast becoming one of the league’s most lethal combinations.

Kyrie’s chance to rise: Luka’s calf injury could keep him out until late February or even March. So the Mavericks face a precarious stretch. They’re fourth in the West but only 4.5 games ahead of the 11th-seeded Suns. If Irving shines even more than he already has and can keep Dallas in the playoff hunt while Luka recovers, he’ll solidify his case for All-NBA honors for the first time since the 2020–21 campaign.

Trade candidates to monitor: You could argue I’m stretching to include Butler, LaVine and Fox, considering the competition. But all three are involved in trade talks. If any of them were to get traded, it could change their trajectory for the better. After all, January has just begun. We still have a long way to go.

As we enter the new year, the race for the NBA MVP award is heating up. Here are the top 5 contenders in the MVP race at the start of 2022:

    1. Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets) – Durant has been putting up MVP-caliber numbers this season, averaging over 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. He has been the driving force behind the Nets’ success and has solidified himself as the frontrunner for the award.

    2. Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) – Curry continues to amaze with his scoring ability, leading the league in points per game at over 30. He has been the catalyst for the Warriors’ impressive start to the season and is a strong contender for his third MVP award.

    3. Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) – The reigning two-time MVP has been dominant once again this season, averaging a double-double with over 27 points and 11 rebounds per game. Antetokounmpo’s impact on both ends of the floor makes him a perennial MVP candidate.

    4. Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers) – Embiid has been a force in the paint for the 76ers, averaging over 28 points and 10 rebounds per game. His dominance in the post and ability to stretch the floor make him a strong contender for the MVP award.

    5. Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets) – The reigning MVP has continued to put up impressive numbers this season, averaging a triple-double with over 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. Jokic’s unique skill set and versatility make him a top contender for the MVP award once again.

These five players have separated themselves from the pack in the MVP race and will be ones to watch as the season progresses. Who do you think will ultimately take home the MVP award this year? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Anthony Edwards on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.: He’s ‘the MVP of the NBA’

Anthony Edwards on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.: He’s ‘the MVP of the NBA’

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished second in MVP voting a season ago.

This season, Anthony Edwards thinks that would be one spot too low. Here is what Edwards told Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

“The MVP of the NBA,” Edwards told ESPN…

“I don’t know if they could give it to [Jokic] again,” said Edwards, who had 20 points in the loss. “Yeah, I would say Shai. Yeah, he’s looking like the MVP, man. He was incredible once again tonight.

“He’s consistent every night. His team gonna give him the ball and just let him rock out every night. It’s nothing to think about. ‘Hey, get Shai the ball and he going to get busy, and then we’re going to figure it out after that.’ I love watching that. It’s incredible, man. If he is keeping him like that, I hope they give [MVP] to him this year for sure. I feel like he should have won it last year, but he’s playing out his mind right now.”

SGA has a serious MVP case: 31.3 points, 6 assists and 5.5 rebounds a game, shooting 35% from three, plus defender, and the best player on the No. 1 team in the West.

A lot of fans — pushed by ESPN — like to track the MVP race like a horse race or a political campaign, and in the first straw poll of the season, Gilgeous-Alexander was second in the voting, trailing only three-time MVP Nikola Jokic (with Giannis Antetokounmpo close behind). It’s fair to ask if Jokic will face voter fatigue, and if the Nuggets getting bounced in the second round of the playoffs last season will impact voters at the end of the season (although that’s also when SGA and his Thunder were eliminated).

There’s still 60% of the NBA season rermaining for the MVP race to shake out, but we know who Anthony Edwards wants to see win.

Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards had high praise for Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, calling him “the MVP of the NBA” in a recent interview.

Edwards, who has been turning heads with his impressive play in his first season in the league, spoke highly of Gilgeous-Alexander’s skills and impact on the court.

“Shai is just a beast out there. He can do it all – score, pass, defend. He’s the MVP of the NBA in my book,” Edwards said.

Gilgeous-Alexander, who is known for his smooth ball-handling and scoring ability, has been a standout player for the Thunder this season, averaging over 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.

It’s clear that Edwards has a lot of respect for Gilgeous-Alexander’s game, and it’s exciting to see young players recognizing and appreciating the talent of their peers in the league. It will be interesting to see how both players continue to develop and make their mark in the NBA.

Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is ‘MVP of NBA,’ Edwards says

OKLAHOMA CITY — Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards, beaming with admiration of an All-NBA rival, didn’t hesitate when asked about Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

“The MVP of the NBA,” Edwards told ESPN.

The season hasn’t reached the halfway point yet, but Edwards has seen enough to declare that Gilgeous-Alexander should be en route to earning his first MVP award after finishing as the runner-up last season.

Actually, Edwards saw way too much from Gilgeous-Alexander during the Thunder’s 113-105 win over the Timberwolves on Tuesday night at the Paycom Center. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 40 points on 15-of-23 shooting, including 19 points during the third quarter while Oklahoma City seized control of the game.

It was the 12th consecutive win for the Thunder, a streak that doesn’t include the NBA Cup finals loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, which doesn’t count as a regular-season game. Gilgeous-Alexander has averaged 33.4 points on 56.6% shooting from the field during the longest winning streak since the franchise moved to Oklahoma City.

“I feel like I’m flowing, like the game’s just coming,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “I’m not pressing, not thinking, just out there hooping. The hard work’s paying off.”

Gilgeous-Alexander ranks second in the league in scoring (31.3 points) and second in steals (2.0) for the 27-5 Thunder, who have the Western Conference’s best record and the NBA’s top-ranked defense. He’s shooting 52.8% from the field while also averaging 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.2 blocks.

It’s the ease with which Gilgeous-Alexander scores that awes Edwards.

“To me, he’s unguardable,” Edwards said. “As far as any one-on-one matchup, yeah, you can go on and give it up. Just give him two points most of the time. So I think you got to trap him. Maybe that don’t work, but you got to try it. For sure you got to send a second body, especially if he got a favorable matchup. Anytime he got somebody that he knows can’t guard him, ah, he going to score every time.”

Edwards acknowledged that three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who is averaging 31.0 points, 12.9 rebounds and 9.5 assists for the 18-13 Denver Nuggets, is also building a quality case again. But Edwards is adamant that Gilgeous-Alexander should be considered the MVP front-runner.

Gilgeous-Alexander was flattered to receive such praise from a competitor of Edwards’ stature.

“No offense to you guys in the media, but the best satisfaction is when your peers and the guys that do the same thing for a living at a very high level that you do recognize and respect your craft and your talent,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “That’s a really good feeling. Obviously the caliber player he is, the sky’s the limit. Hard-fought battle tonight.”

In a recent interview, Minnesota Timberwolves’ rookie Anthony Edwards made a bold statement by declaring that Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the ‘MVP of the NBA.’

Despite being just 22 years old, Gilgeous-Alexander has been putting up impressive numbers this season, averaging 23.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. His dynamic playmaking ability and scoring prowess have caught the attention of fans and players alike, leading Edwards to crown him as the league’s most valuable player.

While Gilgeous-Alexander may not be in the traditional MVP conversation, his impact on the Thunder’s success this season cannot be denied. It will be interesting to see if his stellar performance continues to earn him recognition as one of the top players in the league.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Zendaya’s name? Is it her history-making Emmy awards for her performance on Euphoria, or her turn on Arrakis as the rebel princess Chani in Dune: Part Two? What about her coordinating couple outfits with boyfriend (and Spiderman costar) Tom Holland? Well, if you paid any attention to 2024’s red carpets, you associate “Zendaya” with “best-dressed” before anything else.

Zendaya’s best red carpet fashion of 2024 cast her as more than a style icon or a devout student of runway history; she’s a style chameleon. She made more than 50 red carpet appearances covered by Marie Claire editors this year—and she was readers’ most-viewed celebrity when we did. She and image architect Law Roach wrote the book on smart method dressing, dipping into revered runway collections and crafting custom Loewe, Louis Vuitton, and Bottega Veneta pieces (among others) to reference her roles in the sci-fi epic Dune: Part Two and the tennis throuple drama Challengers. She co-chaired the 2024 Met Gala; she got a gold medal in street style at the Paris Olympics. Across every single appearance, her outfit was the most highly anticipated by a mile.

Zendaya’s best red carpet fashion stood out for its sheer fearlessness. Some A-listers get comfortable in a sequin peplum gown or a skintight naked dress and never look back. Zendaya, meanwhile, kept viewers on their toes while pushing her own boundaries. From afar, she seemed to embrace glitchy Givenchy cyborg suits (for Dune), tennis-ball greens and Wimbledon whites by Loewe, Thom Browne, and Calvin Klein (for Challengers) and Shakespearean Vivienne Westwood gowns (for just a night out in London) with equal enthusiasm. She even wore a metal—real metal!—cyborg suit from Mugler, just to show her dedication to Dune‘s futuristic aesthetic.

Even if back-to-back appearances came with pieces designed by the same house, they never looked exactly the same. Her looks varied in shape, texture, and associated glam, but she made the head-to-toe commitment to each, switching out her manicure or dyeing her hair to best accentuate the dress (or suit). She also took the time to champion smaller designers alongside LVMH-backed names, such as the experimental Torishéju Dumi or the Greek couture house Celia Kritharoti.

It’s a testament to her red carpet prowess that no one detects the red carpet anxiety she often gets beneath all the wigs, makeup, and gravity-defying dresses. She copped to feeling hesitation toward some looks in her Vanity Fair cover story interview this fall. But ultimately, she said, these outfits are a form of armor and a form of getting into character; she can’t help but commit to the bit. “I also think that fashion, in many ways, is a tool for me. I consider myself a shyer person, which I guess you wouldn’t quite realize from the crazy, sometimes ridiculous things that I wear,” she said.

Objectively, anyone wearing a suit made of metal or a dress that’s nearly a century old is going to get headlines. But Zendaya and Roach also stood out among a recent archival fashion surge because they do their research. The pieces they pick out derive from collections with aesthetic ties to the event they’re attending or the project Zendaya is promoting. And, the pair supports vintage collectors in the process. “We don’t borrow,” Roach famously told Vogue during the Dune promotional cycle, “we buy.”

These choices feel even more authentic to Zendaya considering that they aren’t limited to a single press tour or red carpet. Co-chairing the 2024 Met Gala—a few months after the Dune and Challengers frenzies—Zendaya wore several archival looks befitting the “Garden of Time” theme. Before she even stepped on the museum steps wearing Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano (which was itself inspired by a 1999 Dior piece) she was dropping hints about her look in a vintage floral pre-Met Gala John Galliano dress. She followed up her first dress with a second Galliano design, dated to his tenure at Givenchy during the mid-1990s.

Later in the year, Z paid homage to Cher in a vintage Bob Mackie naked dress circa 2001. The shimmering champagne gown, and its white leather overcoat, were nods to a Cher Show performance from the 1970s. Each of these fashion moments came with hair and makeup to emphasize the dress—and the original context it was worn in.

No one can accuse a Zendaya look’s history of overshadowing the look itself. Nothing the actress wears ever wears her, whether it’s glittering Armani Privé for the 2024 Oscars or off-the-runway Burberry for a promotional appearance. She and Roach have the range to go subdued or over-the-top, colorful or stark black-and-white, decades-old vintage or brand-new custom. Each distinct look works because it achieves the same end—showcasing Zendaya’s leading-lady poise and fashion appreciation—through different means.

Designers have taken notice beyond opening their archives for Roach and Zendaya to raid as much as they please. After years of dedicated commitment to wearing Christian Louboutin’s “So Kate” heels, the label is releasing a “Miss Z” pump in Zendaya’s honor next year. Louis Vuitton has recently tapped Z to be its ambassador, dressing her for Paris Fashion Week (her one and only front row this past season), tapping her for a long-awaited, early-aughts-coded collab campaign with Takashi Murakami, and even creating bespoke burgundy outfits for her date nights with Tom Holland. When Z likes a house, she wears it frequently and authentically to her personal style. That kind of genuine brand loyalty feels rare while other celebs fleetingly buy into the loud luxury trend.

Seven years ago, when Zendaya was only 21, she appeared on Marie Claire‘s September 2018 cover in conversation with Janet Mock. She discussed how shaping her style with Roach helped her shape her professional identity at a critical time in her career: the years of early adulthood as she transitioned from child star to capital-A actress. “I wanted to create who I was as a person outside of my Disney character. Fashion helped with that,” she said. “My stylist, Law Roach, and I created a world beyond what I was known as through clothes.”

No one thinks “former Disney star” when they think of Zendaya now. She’s been in too many other projects, and turned too many advanced looks, to be left with only that epithet. Whether audiences associate her most with Tashi Duncan, Chani of Arrakis, Euphoria‘s Rue Bennett, or the MJ to Tom Holland’s Spiderman, they definitely know her as red carpet fashion’s MVP now.

Zendaya Is 2024’s Undisputed Style MVP

Zendaya has always been a fashion icon, but in 2024, she has truly solidified her status as the undisputed Style MVP. From red carpet events to street style looks, Zendaya consistently delivers jaw-dropping fashion moments that leave us all in awe.

Whether she’s rocking a designer gown or a casual ensemble, Zendaya always manages to look effortlessly chic and on-trend. Her fearless approach to fashion sets her apart from the rest, and her ability to pull off any look with confidence and grace is truly unmatched.

Not only does Zendaya have impeccable style, but she also uses her platform to promote diversity and inclusivity in the fashion industry. She is a trailblazer who is unafraid to push boundaries and challenge the status quo, making her a true inspiration to fashion lovers everywhere.

In 2024, Zendaya has proven time and time again that she is the ultimate Style MVP, and we can’t wait to see what stunning looks she will continue to serve in the years to come. Cheers to Zendaya, the reigning queen of style!
