NBA Rumors: Jazz’s Ainge Didn’t Know Luka Dončić, Anthony Davis Were in 3-Team Trade | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors
Chris Gardner/Getty Images
Utah Jazz president and former Boston Celtics legend Danny Ainge reportedly didn’t know he was helping his once-hated rival Los Angeles Lakers acquire one of the biggest stars in the NBA in Sunday’s three-team trade with the Dallas Mavericks for Luka Dončić.
According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Tim MacMahon, the Jazz “didn’t know Dončić and [Anthony] Davis were a part of the deal until about an hour before it was completed, league sources said,” and Ainge “had only about 30 minutes notice, sources said, that Los Angeles was about to acquire Dončić to be the new face of its franchise.”
The Jazz acquired two second-round picks and 2023 No. 17 overall pick Jalen Hood-Schifino to help facilitate the deal between the Lakers and Mavs.
Coincidentally, Utah was in negotiations with the Los Angeles Clippers for a trade involving veteran forward PJ Tucker. Shelburne and MacMahon noted that the Lakers “had asked the Jazz to complete the trade involving Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills by the time they” finished Saturday night’s game against the New York Knicks. Los Angeles reportedly “had several backup plans if the Jazz option fell through.”
The deal between the Jazz and Clippers was completed on Saturday afternoon, allowing the Lakers to move forward with negotiations with the Mavs.
“Shortly after the Jazz completed their business with Mills, they learned of the magnitude of the trade they were about to be involved in. All that did was buy them an extra hour to digest its ramifications,” Shelburne and MacMahon stated.
The Lakers now have one of the brightest young stars in the NBA. Dončić will be the clear successor to LeBron James once the 40-year-old ends his legendary career, shifting the balance of power in the Western Conference.
The Jazz, meanwhile, rank last in the West with a record of 11-36 entering Monday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers (27-20). Utah will be in the running for the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA draft, and Ainge and company will certainly be hoping to land a player who can lead the franchise back to prominence.
The NBA world was left stunned today as reports emerged that Utah Jazz general manager Danny Ainge was completely unaware that star players Luka Dončić and Anthony Davis were involved in a blockbuster three-team trade.Sources close to the situation have revealed that Ainge was caught off guard when news of the trade broke, as he had not been informed of the details ahead of time. The trade reportedly involved Dončić being sent to the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis to the Dallas Mavericks, and multiple draft picks changing hands between the teams.
This shocking revelation has sent shockwaves throughout the league, with many questioning how such a high-profile trade could have been kept under wraps from one of the league’s top executives. Ainge has yet to comment on the situation, but sources say he is currently working to salvage the situation and potentially make a counteroffer to the teams involved.
As the NBA world waits for more information to come to light, fans and analysts alike are left wondering how this trade will impact the landscape of the league moving forward. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

The NBA world got bad news when New Orleans Pelicans star Dejounte Murray left Friday’s 118-116 loss to the Boston Celtics with an injury.
Following the game, it was announced that Murray will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 NBA season.
Via The Pelicans: “The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that guard Dejounte Murray has been diagnosed with a ruptured right Achilles tendon. An MRI taken last night confirmed the injury, which occurred during the first quarter of last night’s game against the Boston Celtics.
Murray will miss the remainder of the season. Further updates will be provided appropriately.”
Many people reacted to the news, and one person who sent out a post (via X) was Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.
His post had over 22,000 likes and 450,000 impressions in less than 24 hours.
James wrote: “. Speedy and healthy recovery to my lil bro!! Love man! “
Murray (who made the NBA All-Star Game in 2022) had been in his first year playing for New Orleans.
He finishes his season with averages of 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 2.0 steals per contest while shooting 39.3% from the field and 29.9% from the three-point range in 31 games.
The Pelicans have had a tough year due to injuries.
They are currently the 14th seed in the Western Conference with a 12-37 record in 49 games.
Following Boston, the Pelicans will resume action on Monday when they visit Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets in Colorado.
In a recent interview, LeBron James opened up about the heartbreaking news in the NBA and shared his thoughts on how it has impacted him and the league as a whole. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story. #LeBronJames #NBA #HeartbreakingNews

The Chicago Bulls have announced that they have waived forward Torrey Craig. The 31-year-old Craig was acquired by the Bulls in a trade with the Indiana Pacers earlier this season.Craig, who has averaged 5.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 39 games this season, became expendable for the Bulls as they look to make roster adjustments heading into the final stretch of the season.
The decision to waive Craig comes as a bit of a surprise, as he provided solid defense and energy off the bench for the Bulls. However, with the team looking to make a playoff push, they must make tough decisions to improve their roster.
It remains to be seen where Craig will land next, but with his defensive prowess and hustle, he is sure to attract interest from other teams in need of a versatile wing player.
Stay tuned for more updates on Torrey Craig’s next destination in the NBA.

Preview: Girona vs. Las Palmas – prediction, team news, lineups
Sports Mole previews Monday’s La Liga clash between Girona and Las Palmas, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Girona will be aiming to bounce back from four straight defeats in all competitions when they continue their La Liga campaign with a clash against Las Palmas on Monday night.
The home side are eighth in the La Liga table, picking up 28 points from their opening 21 matches of the campaign, while Las Palmas sit 15th, just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Girona boast a record of eight wins, four draws and nine defeats from their 21 La Liga matches this season, with a total of 28 points leaving them in eighth spot in the table, eight points above the relegation zone and four points behind sixth-placed Rayo Vallecano.
It was always going to be difficult for the Catalan outfit to match their heroics from last season, when they finished third in La Liga, and their first-ever Champions League campaign finished on Wednesday with a 2-1 home defeat to Arsenal.
Girona’s journey in Europe for this season is over, but they will have taken plenty from their experience at that level, and Michel‘s team will now be aiming to bounce back from four straight straight defeats in all competitions.
The White and Reds have lost their last two in La Liga to Sevilla and Rayo Vallecano, with their last success in Spain’s top flight proving to be a 1-0 victory over Alaves on January 11.
Girona have a mixed record in front of their own fans this season, winning five, drawing one and losing four of their 10 matches on home soil, while Las Palmas have gathered 10 points from their 10 matches on their travels.

Las Palmas, meanwhile, will enter the contest off the back of a 1-1 draw against Osasuna, with Adnan Januzaj scoring in the 98th minute of that contest to secure a share of the spoils for Los Amarillos.
Diego Martinez‘s side have a record of six wins, five draws and 10 defeats from their 21 league matches this season, with 23 points leaving them in 15th spot in the table, three points ahead of the relegation zone.
Las Palmas have been an entertaining watch this season, scoring 26 times, which is the most in the bottom seven, but they have conceded 34, which is the third-worst defensive record behind Valencia (36) and Real Valladolid (42).
Pio Pio finished 16th in Spain’s top flight last season after securing a return to La Liga, and any spot over 18th would again be considered a successful campaign, with the club again looking to solidify their position at this level.
Las Palmas recorded a 1-0 win over Girona in the reverse match between the two sides earlier this season, but Girona were victorious in both La Liga encounters during the 2023-24 campaign.

Girona will be without the services of Miguel Gutierrez due to a muscular problem, while Daley Blind, Ladislav Krejci and Valery are major doubts for the contest on Monday night.
Arnaut Danjuma was on the scoresheet against Arsenal in the Champions League, and the Netherlands international could start through the middle here, with Bryan Gil operating down the left.
Yangel Herrera and Donny van de Beek should return to the side, while Paulo Gazzaniga will be back between the sticks.
As for Las Palmas, Benito Ramirez is available again following a suspension, but Dario Essugo will be missing due to the red card that he was handed in the clash with Osasuna last time out.
The visitors will also be without the services of Jose Campana, Viti, Marvin Park and Daley Sinkgraven due to injury, but there is a hope that Kirian Rodriguez will overcome a minor problem to make the XI.
Januzaj’s late goal against Osasuna could earn him a spot in the starting side for this match, while there will once again be a position through the middle for on-loan Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva.
Girona possible starting lineup:
Gazzaniga; A Martinez, Juanpe, D Lopez, Frances; Herrera, Martin; Asprilla, Van de Beek, Gil; DanjumaLas Palmas possible starting lineup:
Cillessen; Munoz, Suarez, McKenna, Marmol; Fuster, K Rodriguez; S Ramirez, Januzaj, Moleiro; F Silva
We say: Girona 2-1 Las Palmas
Girona have been victorious in four of the last five La Liga matches between the two sides and will enter this contest as the favourites, but we are expecting a close game – it would not be a surprise to see the points shared, but with home advantage, we are backing Girona to secure a narrow victory on Monday night.

It could go either way, but expect a close contest with both teams fighting until the final whistle.
Team news for Girona is looking positive, with no major injury concerns reported. Las Palmas, on the other hand, will be without a few key players due to injuries and suspensions. This could give Girona the upper hand going into the match.

Congresswoman Sarah McBride ceremonially sworn in, in her home state of Delaware | The Latest from WDEL News
Nearly a month after taking office, Congresswoman Sarah McBride was ceremonially sworn in Tuesday night in Wilmington.
McBride took the oath of office which was administered by 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Tamika Montgomery-Reeves. Governor Matt Meyer and Attorney General Kathy Jennings also spoke during the event at Old Town Hall.
McBride said while she had been in office for a few weeks, “it didn’t feel right unless and until we came together as a Delaware family to formalize this privilege that I have to represent the greatest state in the House of Representatives.”
The ceremony came at the end of a day in which there was much confusion and concern over action take by President Donald Trump and the administration to freeze or potentially freeze federal funding to certain programs.
“I enter Congress at a moment of uncertainty and fear for so many in our country. A time that will test our constitution, our economy and our very compassion,” McBride said. “The events of the last 24 hours only reinforce the chaos and cruelty of this new administration as health care for one in four Americans, child care for millions of kids, and non-profit programs serving families across the country have been thrust into confusion and risk. It is unacceptable and unconscionable.”
“And while it is understandable to be overwhelmed by our politics, to search foe easy answers or comforting solutions, if we are to truly face these challenges, then we must face up to the circumstances that gave rise to the current state of our politics,” McBride continued.
“Here in Delaware, we understand the necessity of collaboration, not out of some empty belief in compromise-for-compromise sake, but because we know you cannot have a diverse democracy if we lose our capacity to have conversations across difference and disagreement, if dissent is disallowed, if we stop seeing one another as people.”

In a historic moment, Congresswoman Sarah McBride was ceremonially sworn in today in her home state of Delaware. McBride, who made history as the first openly transgender state senator in the country, now adds another milestone to her career by becoming the first transgender congresswoman in U.S. history. The ceremony, held at the state capitol in Dover, was attended by family, friends, and supporters who gathered to witness this groundbreaking event. McBride, who won her election in November, took the oath of office with pride and determination, vowing to represent the people of Delaware with integrity and dedication.
In her speech following the ceremony, McBride thanked her constituents for their support and pledged to work tirelessly on behalf of all Delawareans. She highlighted her commitment to expanding access to healthcare, fighting for LGBTQ+ rights, and advocating for policies that benefit all members of her community.
As she begins her term in Congress, McBride’s presence serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the LGBTQ+ community and marginalized groups across the country. Her leadership and courage are a testament to the progress we have made towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
We congratulate Congresswoman Sarah McBride on this momentous occasion and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on Delaware and the nation as a whole. Stay tuned to WDEL News for the latest updates on McBride’s journey in Congress.

Preview: Cagliari vs. Lazio – prediction, team news, lineups
After suffering back-to-back defeats, Lazio will target maximum points on Monday, when they visit Serie A strugglers Cagliari.
Beaten at home and in Europe, the Biancocelesti are now intent on regaining a top-four place, while their hosts are ultimately aiming to avoid relegation.
Following a run of five consecutive victories, Lazio have failed to win six of their last nine league matches, most recently losing at home to 10-man Fiorentina.
Despite having an extra player for most of the second half, Marco Baroni‘s men could not break through until a stoppage-time strike by Adam Marusic that proved too late to get them back into the contest.
Then, on Thursday night, the Biancocelesti wrapped up their league-phase campaign in the Europa League with a 1-0 defeat in Braga – albeit their knockout place had already been booked with two rounds remaining.
In spite of suffering their first continental loss of the season, Lazio still topped the table and swept straight through to the last 16 without needing a playoff.
With four weeks to go until a Coppa Italia quarter-final against Inter Milan, swiftly followed by their return to Europe, the Rome club can now concentrate fully on the league.
Unbeaten in 19 Serie A matches against Cagliari – winning 16 times and averaging 2.3 goals per game in the process – history will weigh heavily on their side in Sardinia.
In fact, Lazio could now set a new club record, having never posted a longer run without defeat against any opponent in their top-flight history – they also managed 19 against Inter, between 1996 and 2005.
© Imago
In addition to a 2-1 loss in November’s reverse fixture at Stadio Olimpico, Cagliari have lost each of their last five home matches against Lazio by an aggregate score of 12-3.
Though the Isolani have accrued seven points from their last four matches, keeping them just above the drop zone, the odds are therefore stacked against claiming any more on Monday.
After last week’s 2-0 away defeat to Torino, Cagliari have lost nine games without scoring in Italy’s top tier this season, and no team has done so on more occasions.
With only two clean sheets kept so far, their defensive record is no better, and a weakness at set pieces will be of particular concern for coach Davide Nicola – a proven past master in terms of securing Serie A survival.
No side has conceded more goals from dead-ball situations (14), while Lazio have scored 13 – only fewer than Inter.
Furthermore, Cagliari have been beaten in five of 11 home games this season, which is already just one defeat fewer than through the whole of last season, when they only stayed up by a whisker.

Lazio made several changes in midweek, as Marco Baroni always rotates his squad for Europa League fixtures, and Serie A regulars Nicolo Rovella and Mattia Zaccagni were both suspended.
Furthermore, Matteo Guendouzi was replaced by Spanish centre-back Mario Gila in midfield, but the France international is expected to recover from an illness and should start in Sardinia.
Full-backs Nuno Tavares and Manuel Lazzari will again join Patric and Matias Vecino on the sidelines due to injury.
Meanwhile, Cagliari’s sole concern regards Zito Luvumbo, who has yet to return from an ankle problem that has ruled him out of six games so far.
Despite interest from other clubs, the Rossoblu have held on to Razvan Marin: he has been directly involved in five Serie A goals this season, four of which have come as a substitute.
Once again, the Romanian midfielder will fight it out with Alessandro Deiola, Michel Adopo and Antoine Makoumbou for selection in the hosts’ engine room.
Cagliari possible starting lineup:
Caprile; Zappa, Mina, Luperto, Obert; Zortea, Makoumbou, Marin, Felici; Gaetano; PiccoliLazio possible starting lineup:
Provedel; Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Rovella; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni; Castellanos
We say: Cagliari 1-3 Lazio
Curiously, Lazio are the only side yet to draw away from home in Serie A – an unprecedented record for the capital club at this stage of a season.
That run should continue, as they will have the bit between their teeth after successive defeats, while Cagliari are often found wanting at both ends of the pitch.
For data analysis of the most likely results, scorelines and more for this match please click here.
Cagliari will face off against Lazio in an exciting Serie A clash this weekend. Both teams will be looking to secure a crucial victory in this match, as they aim to climb up the league table.Prediction:
Lazio are currently in good form and will be the favorites heading into this match. They have a strong attacking lineup and are capable of scoring goals against any opposition. Cagliari, on the other hand, have struggled defensively and may struggle to contain Lazio’s attacking threat. We predict a 2-1 win for Lazio in this match.Team news:
Cagliari will be without the services of their star striker, Joao Pedro, who is sidelined with an injury. However, they will have the rest of their squad available for selection.Lazio will be missing several key players due to injuries, including Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Despite these absences, they still have a strong squad and will be confident of getting a positive result.
Lineups:
Cagliari: Cragno, Pisacane, Godin, Carboni, Zappa, Marin, Nandez, Rog, Nainggolan, Sottil, Pavoletti.Lazio: Reina, Marusic, Acerbi, Radu, Fares, Leiva, Parolo, Luis Alberto, Akpa Akpro, Correa, Muriqi.
It promises to be an exciting match between these two teams, so make sure to tune in and catch all the action. Stay tuned for our post-match analysis and highlights!

#Preview #Cagliari #Lazio #prediction #team #news #lineupsUnai Emery interview: Jhon Duran exit means Aston Villa out to reshape attack with emphasis on ‘recovering talents’ | Football News
In the week that Aston Villa confirmed their place in the last 16 of the Champions League, they also sold their top scorer. Jhon Duran’s departure will be a disappointment to some. The challenge for Unai Emery is to ensure the changes make Villa stronger.
Dealing with the twin tests of the Premier League and Europe has been a theme of the season. They go to Wolves on Saturday after the high of that victory over Celtic on Wednesday knowing that they have not won after a European game since September.
But these past few weeks, in which Diego Carlos and Emiliano Buendia have also left the building, have included the added distraction of the transfer window. How is the man expected to manage all these moving parts coping with the myriad demands?
“Always, in football, it is a busy time,” Emery tells Sky Sports. “Even when you are resting, even when you are on holiday, always our minds are thinking something around football, around the squad, around the players, around the objectives we can face.”
Another constant topic of the campaign has been how to accommodate Duran alongside Ollie Watkins in the Villa team. It was a conundrum that Emery was never able to solve. Their last game together, for half an hour in Monaco, was not a success.
Speaking at the club’s training ground, as the screens playing Sky Sports News tell of interest in Joao Felix, Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, Emery explains his plans for life post-Duran. Do not expect him to try to replace the Colombian striker like for like.
“We are in a new way,” he insists. “I am practising how we can play with Donyell Malen. The club is working [on players] to join us but, of course, now we have players in the squad ready to play, ready to be versatile as well and to play in different positions.”
Malen, a £21m signing from Borussia Dortmund, made his debut on the right wing off the bench against West Ham but Emery believes he can use him as a striker if needed. It is a better solution, perhaps. Players who can cover Watkins but also play with him.
“Ollie has always been consistent and usually he can play because he is a very strong player, physically as well, playing 90 minutes in a row of matches. But of course we have to have one plan B in case he is not available for 90 minutes or to play some matches.
“But we have players in the squad with this possibility. Donyell Malen and Morgan Rogers played as a striker. Of course, we are watching the transfer window’s last days, if we can sign a striker a striker with the possibility to be versatile in the attacking third.”
Versatility has been essential of late. Against West Ham, an injury to Tyrone Mings required Lucas Digne to play as a makeshift centre-back. Against Celtic, Boubacar Kamara played there with Matty Cash’s early exit forcing Lamare Bogarde to right-back.
“The players we have I am very proud of how they respond in different circumstances with the level we need to achieve. We drew at home to West Ham but we reacted very well against Celtic last Wednesday and the response was coming quick.
“The most important thing is that they respond not after but before, when we need them, how they are prepared to do it. This is what I am most proud of. I can feel the players are always open to help and to support every decision that I have to make.”
Getting more from players is what Emery does. It is worth reminding that nine of the starting line-up that beat Celtic were at the club when he arrived in October 2022, with Villa languishing in the bottom six of the Premier League table. He improves players.
He fixes them too, preferring to coax the best from a talent that had not been maximised than take someone with a lower ceiling. This is something Monchi, Villa’s president of football operations, referenced when addressing the interest in Joao Felix and Asensio.
‘Recovering talents’
Putting Monchi’s comments to Emery, in which he called him the best at ‘recovering talents’, he replies: “We worked in Sevilla for four years together. He is speaking about two players, they are not playing in their club now consistently, Asensio and Joao Felix.”
“They are potential players, maybe we can add, but we have other players waiting on our list.” The same, of course, could be said of Rashford. “If some of them are coming, this is my challenge, try to get the best of them and try to be protagonists with them.
“But I am positive about the process, the demand we face with the players we have. As a team, we have John McGinn back from injury. Jacob Ramsey as well, hopefully we can get Ramsey the consistency for the next month like he did not have last year.
“Really, this is my motivation, how we can manage as well the player that we have and how we can manage as well the objective we have in front of us.” The next objective? Well, that is simple. Put Europe to the back of their minds and beat Wolves on Saturday.
“After playing in Europe, the motivation we have to play in the Premier League should be the same. We only need to rest, get good sleep, recover energy and then play. This is how we want to build our team, our mentality as players, as a team and as a club.
“Of course, you have to enjoy it as well. Playing different competitions, matches every few days. We are focusing on Wolves. It means a lot for the supporters. We will try to get our best performances collectively, individually, try to compete and try to win.
“Each match is a challenge. Now, the most important is against Wolves. My interest in winning is the same as the Champions League. Even more so in the Premier League because it is through the Premier League that we are going to achieve our objectives.”
Watch Wolves vs Aston Villa live on Sky Sports Premier League from 5pm; kick-off 5.30pm
In a recent interview, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery discussed the departure of Jhon Duran and the club’s plans to reshape their attack with a focus on “recovering talents.”Duran, who recently left Villa for a new challenge, was a key player in the team’s attack. Emery acknowledged his contributions but emphasized that the club is now looking to refocus their strategy.
“We thank Jhon for his time with us and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” Emery said. “But now, we are looking to reshape our attack and bring in players who can help us achieve our goals.”
Emery revealed that the club is placing a strong emphasis on “recovering talents” – players who may have been overlooked or undervalued in the past but have the potential to make a big impact.
“We believe that there are many talented players out there who just need the right opportunity to shine,” Emery explained. “We are committed to finding and developing these players to help strengthen our squad.”
Fans of Aston Villa can look forward to seeing some new faces in the team as Emery and his staff work to reshape the attack and bring in fresh talent. With a focus on recovering talents, the club is aiming to build a stronger and more competitive squad for the upcoming season.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 performance testing
Good news if you’re planning to jump into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 when it launches on Tuesday: We’ve not only given the sandbox RPG a hearty recommendation in our review, it’s gotten a separate thumbs up from our hardware team, which put the RPG through its technical paces in our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 performance analysis.
The short version is that the CryEngine game can, as you’d expect, give any GPU a hard time at max settings and high resolutions, but scales well and is stable. Hardware Writer Nick Evanson didn’t experience any crashes during his testing.
The charts below show the performance you can expect on the medium quality preset for 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. There’s much more testing in Nick’s full performance guide, as well as recommendations for which settings to tweak.

Not a horse door. Got it.
Our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review – A new RPG classic
After some 70 hours traipsing around Bohemia with his dog (and horndog Hans), our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 reviewer Josh Wolens has rendered his judgement on Warhorse’s RPG. Good news: it’s fantastic. Here’s a little taster:
It’s the game’s systemic ambitions that really elevate it, though. There are times when Warhorse’s simulation of a medieval world approaches Stalker-levels of zeal. Stole something from someone’s house without being spotted? All well and good, but if someone spied you hanging around there they’ll still put two and two together and report you to the guards. I once got chased out of a fortress because I’d absent-mindedly equipped a stolen ring and walked past the schmuck I took it from.
It’s that kind of world: A world of rules, a world that feels interested in itself for its own sake, and that feels to some extent like it happens independent of you, the player.
By the end of the game, when you’re teeming with perks and fancy gear, you’ll be a rambling Bohemian Cuisinart turning all your foes to shreds, but even this feels like a more earned and systems-driven process than it does in your average Skyrim-inspired RPG. You’re not just inevitably climbing a levelling power curve, you’re feeling out the edges of the game—what’s possible, what’s impossible, what’s expected from you.
Without a review deadline looming, I’ve had the luxury of traversing the Bohemian countryside and the bustling city of Kuttenberg at a more leisurely pace (for 50 hours, so far), and frankly I don’t want the adventure to end. I haven’t had this much fun roleplaying since Baldur’s Gate 3—though they are very different RPGs. Yet, there are some important similarities: the immersive sim qualities, the attention to detail, the potent storytelling.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has more than earned its 90% score.
Ignatius the sheep is the GOAT
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has plenty of great characters, but none of them have stuck in my mind quite like Ignatius the sheep. I do not know who decided to get a voice actor to record his replies, rather than using the realistic animal noises that you’ll hear throughout the rest of the game, but it was a sublime choice. I would die for Ignatius. In fact, I have died for Ignatius. Defending him from a pack of wolves until my last breath. I love you, little buddy.
“It seems like someone is always trying to brand us somehow, and we are just trying to make a cool videogame.”
Ahead of tomorrow’s launch, we spoke with Warhorse’s global PR manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling and senior game designer Ondřej Bittner about the series’ focus on historical authenticity. In the first game, which is largely set in rural Bohemia, this led to most of the stories being focused on white, Christian characters. The only exception were the Cumans, Turkic mercenaries, who were largely presented as barbaric raiders. Coupled with game director Daniel Vávra’s conservative views and support for Gamergate, this led to KCD being characterised as a champion for “anti-wokeness”—this was despite the protagonist, Henry, being a relatively progressive character, given the historical period.
But Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s change in setting, where we get to explore a much more cosmopolitan city, Kuttenberg, allowed Warhorse to explore a more diverse set of characters, while also digging into the Cumen mercenaries, who are no longer simply villains. Unfortunately, this has inspired right wing reactionaries to attack the game for becoming “woke”.
“Several years ago, we were branded differently,” says Stolz-Zwilling. “Now we are branded that way. It seems like someone is always trying to brand us somehow, and we are just trying to make a cool videogame.”
Warhorse has employed the same historical consultant since it first started developing KCD, but now that it’s an established studio with more resources and a well-known game under its belt, its been able to spend more time digging into the history of Bohemia, with helps from universities, museums and academics.
“Everything makes sense. Everything we put there was double and triple checked,” says Stolz-Zwilling.
And it makes even more sense because of the larger scope and the urban setting that we get to explore in the game’s second half. Kuttenberg was one of the most important cities in the Holy Roman Empire, a location where people from all over Europe and beyond came to learn and trade. And during this time of civil war, with mercenaries and soldiers flooding in, its denizens are even more varied.
“Because there’s a city, there’s loads more effort to show how these people actually view the world, which is, I think, way more important than showing their fashion choices or or how they look,” says Bittner. “It’s how they view the world and the society around them, which is predominantly Christian and Czech-speaking. I think that it’s important to not just include these people, but their vision of the world, which can sometimes feel lacking in games or media that call themselves diverse.”
Our OG Kingdom Come: Deliverance review
We published our review of the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance back in February of 2018, seven years ago. It was a bit janky—Warhorse started developing the game with only 11 people—but had the scope and the looks of an RPG from a much more experienced, and larger, studio. We were pretty impressed at the time.
Kingdom Come is a mess of bugs, and there’s the constant feeling that independent developer Warhorse is biting off more than it can chew. But there’s a charm to its scrappiness, and it does enough interesting stuff that I’m willing to tolerate the creaky framework struggling to prop everything up. It’s one of the most satisfying, rewarding roleplaying experiences I’ve enjoyed on PC for a while, but the inconsistent performance and the game’s tendency to completely break does test my patience from time to time.
We ended up giving it a more than respectable 84%. And in a few hours you’ll be able to see how the sequel shapes up.
20 hours with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review is coming later today, but in the meantime why not check out what our reviewer Josh thought about his first 20 hours with the game?
I’ve rumbled with Cumans because I chose the wrong outfit; had my painstaking plans of attack disrupted by roving NPC caravans; gotten embroiled in fights that turned into grand, violent katamaris as more and more people joined in to help or hinder me; and lamented my lack of save-game potions more times than I can count. It’s tremendous fun, with all sorts of bizarre variables feeding into the emergent adventures I get into. With about 20 hours in the game so far, I’ve barely made a dent in the main quest, so preoccupied have I been with poking at the world and seeing what reactions it spits bac

Premier League Predictions, odds and best bets: Graham Potter to lead West Ham to result at Chelsea | Football News
Our betting expert Jones Knows provides his insight as he looks forward to Monday Night Football as West Ham go to Chelsea.
Chelsea vs West Ham, Monday 8pm, live on Sky Sports
Chelsea are very hard to fancy when assessing their odds of 1/3 with Sky Bet. They’ve won just one of their last seven Premier League games and were so poor in the second half at Manchester City, where their habit of allowing games to drift isn’t exactly helping to convince that Enzo Maresca is the right man for the long-term.
He has an unfortunate habit of making his team worse with the substitutions and in-game tweaks he makes.
If you flip that, former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is one of the best around at doing that and West Ham under Potter are on the improve in terms of implementing his philosophy. They were unlucky not to leave Villa Park with maximum points last weekend. They look a bet to avoid defeat here on the double chance at 9/4 with Sky Bet.
SCORE PREDICTION: 1-1
Jones Knows’ best bets…
- 1pt treble on: Brighton 6+ corners, Leicester double chance & 50+ booking points in Wolves vs Aston Villa (7/1 with Sky Bet)

Premier League Predictions, Odds and Best Bets: Graham Potter to Lead West Ham to Result at ChelseaIn this week’s edition of Premier League predictions, we take a look at the upcoming clash between Chelsea and West Ham. Chelsea, who have been in excellent form under manager Thomas Tuchel, will be looking to continue their push for a top-four finish. However, West Ham, under the guidance of Graham Potter, have been a surprise package this season and will be eager to cause an upset at Stamford Bridge.
The odds for this match are in favor of Chelsea, with the home side priced at 1.75 to win. West Ham, on the other hand, are priced at 4.50 to come away with all three points. A draw is available at odds of 3.60.
While Chelsea are the favorites, West Ham have shown their quality this season and are more than capable of getting a result against the Blues. Graham Potter has instilled a sense of belief and confidence in his players, and they have performed admirably against the top teams in the league.
Our best bet for this match is to back West Ham to earn at least a draw. With odds of 4.50, there is great value in backing the Hammers to come away with a positive result at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea may be the stronger team on paper, but West Ham have shown that they can compete with the best in the league.
