The Senior Bowl is always a hotbed of talent and intrigue for NFL scouts and fans alike. As the 2025 NFL draft approaches, here are some of the latest buzz and intel on the top prospects participating in this year’s Senior Bowl:

    1. Quarterback – The quarterback position is always a focal point of any draft, and this year is no different. Keep an eye on standout signal-callers like Spencer Johnson from Alabama and Marcus Lee from Clemson, who are turning heads with their arm strength and accuracy during Senior Bowl practices.

    2. Edge Rusher – Pass rushers are always in high demand in the NFL, and this year’s Senior Bowl is showcasing some top-tier talent at the position. Players like Jackson Smith from Ohio State and Elijah Brown from Georgia are impressing scouts with their speed off the edge and ability to disrupt opposing quarterbacks.

    3. Wide Receiver – The wide receiver class in the 2025 draft is stacked with playmakers, and several of them are making a name for themselves at the Senior Bowl. Keep an eye on standouts like Xavier Martinez from LSU and Jordan Williams from Oklahoma, who are showing off their route-running ability and hands in practices.

    4. Offensive Line – The offensive line is often overlooked, but it is crucial to a team’s success. Several standout linemen are making waves at the Senior Bowl, including Tyler Johnson from Notre Dame and Jake Thompson from Wisconsin, who are showcasing their strength and technique in one-on-one drills.

Overall, the 2025 Senior Bowl is shaping up to be a showcase of some of the top talent in college football, and NFL teams will be paying close attention to these prospects as they look to bolster their rosters in the upcoming draft. Stay tuned for more updates and analysis as the Senior Bowl progresses.

  • Most valuable player for each NFL team: Saquon Barkley key cog for Eagles during 2024 season

The 2024 regular season is in the rearview mirror and all that’s left before we put the entire year to bed is Super Bowl LIX. While the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for that bid to hoist the Lombardi Trophy, most clubs around the league are looking back and evaluating the year that was. And we’ll join in on that fun by looking at every team in the NFL and identifying their team-specific MVP for the regular season.

Of course, quarterbacks will make up a sizable contingent in this list of MVPs given the importance of the position. Still, both sides of the ball and multiple position groups will also be well-represented. Let’s dive in.

McBride followed up his breakout 2023 season with a sensational 2024 campaign. In 16 games played, McBride hauled in 111 receptions, which was the second-most in a single season in franchise history, only looking up to DeAndre Hopkins‘ 115 catch season in 2020. McBride’s receptions also ranked fourth among all pass catchers in the NFL in 2024 and second-most among tight ends.

Even as the Falcons offense went through a tumultuous year that included a late-season quarterback change, Robinson was lights out in the backfield. Of his 17 games played, Robinson had 12 games where he registered at least 100 yards from scrimmage, including 10 of the Falcons’ final 12 games of the year as they looked to make a playoff push. Robinson was also more efficient as a rusher than he was during his rookie season, averaging 4.8 yards per rush.

2025 NFL QB matchmaker: Sam Darnold to the Jets, Kirk Cousins to the Browns, plus 15 other big-name proposals

    Cody Benjamin

2025 NFL QB matchmaker: Sam Darnold to the Jets, Kirk Cousins to the Browns, plus 15 other big-name proposals

Baltimore had a number of worthy candidates (Kyle Hamilton, Derrick Henry, etc.), but how could we not go with Jackson in this spot? After all, he was named a First Team All-Pro and seems earmarked to win his third career MVP award. This comes after the best statistical season of his career, reaching new highs in passing yards, passing touchdowns and yards per attempt. Jackson became the first player in NFL history to record over 4,000 yards passing and 900 yards rushing in a single season.

Of course, Josh Allen is an obvious (and worthy) option here as he was a Second Team All-Pro this season and will probably come in second place in the overall league MVP award race, but let’s give Cook some love. When Buffalo’s offense was humming at its peak, it was when Cook was finding success on the ground. In his third season in the league, Cook tied a Bills single-season record with 16 rushing touchdowns.

Hubbard was one of the unsung players of 2024 and unfortunately had his season cut short due to a calf injury. When he was on the field, however, he was one of the consistent forces within Carolina’s offense. He set career highs across the board and finished with 1,366 yards and 11 total touchdowns from scrimmage. Hubbard also parlayed this strong season into a four-year, $33.2 million extension in early November.

It was another forgetful year for the Chicago Bears that included a midseason coaching change, but Johnson continues to be a bright spot in the secondary. The corner earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl nod in 2024 after playing all 17 games for Chicago while posting eight pass breakups, two interceptions and 53 total tackles.

It’s a shame that the Bengals couldn’t get it together and make a better run at the playoffs as that failure has taken a bit of the shine off of the ridiculous season Chase put together. The Bengals superstar wideout finished with the triple crown, leading the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. There’s really nothing more Cincinnati could’ve asked from Chase, who is now in line to get a monster contract extension this offseason.

It’ll be interesting to monitor Garrett this offseason as a potential trade candidate with the Browns possibly hitting the reset button. Looking back on the 2024 season, the pass rusher continues to be one of the best in the league and was again a lone bright spot for the Browns overall. He was named a First Team All-Pro for the fourth time in the last five seasons after totaling 14 sacks, 22 tackles for a loss and three forced fumbles.

Even with Dak Prescott being limited to just eight games this season due to injury, Lamb was still able to help the Cowboys offense produce with Cooper Rush under center. The star pass catcher was named a Second Team All-Pro after catching 101 passes for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns.

Surtain continues to rival for the title as the NFL’s top cornerback. The Broncos defender logged his third-straight Pro Bowl season in 2024 and was named a First Team All-Pro for the second time in three seasons. Surtain headlined a Broncos defense that was among the very best in the league in most statistical categories, including the second-fewest yards per play allowed. Surtain had 11 passes defended this season to go with four interceptions.

At their core, the Detroit Lions were a ground-and-pound football team and Gibbs was the key catalyst in those efforts. One part of the Sonic and Knuckles backfield duo alongside David Montgomery, Gibbs put together a sensational second season in the NFL, totaling 1,929 yards and 20 touchdowns from scrimmage. He also carried the load when Montgomery missed the latter half of the season due to injury, including a three-touchdown performance in Week 18 against the Vikings to help clinch Detroit the No. 1 seed.

The “other” former Giants player who had a tremendous first season away from New York was McKinney. After inking a four-year, $67 million contract with the Packers last offseason, the corner went out and put together a First Team All-Pro season in 2024. In 17 games played, McKinney finished the year with 88 tackles, a sack, 11 pass breakups and eight interceptions. In coverage, he allowed just a 78.5 passer rating against.

Stingley had all the tools to be a shutdown cornerback in the NFL and that was on full display during his third season in the league. In 17 games played, Stingley broke up 18 passes and had five interceptions, which helped him earn his first Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro nods in his young career. As the primary defender in coverage, he allowed just 47.1% of his targets against to be completed and a 51.2 passer rating.

Franklin has been a productive linebacker for the Colts over the last few years but took it to new heights in 2024. For the first time in his seven-year career, Franklin was named as an All-Pro (Second Team) and to the Pro Bowl. This comes after a league-leading 173 tackles to go with 3.5 sacks (career high), six pass breakups and five forced fumbles.

It didn’t matter who was throwing him the football, Thomas Jr. produced at an elite level during his rookie season. Despite losing his starting quarterback in Trevor Lawrence and having to turn to backup Mac Jones at various points during the season, Thomas completed his first year in the league with 87 receptions, 1,282 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. It won’t be long until he’s considered one of the very best receivers in the entire NFL.

    Kansas City Chiefs

Sometimes you just need to make the boring pick. Was it the most prolific statistical season of Mahomes’ career? No. Did the Chiefs offense look clunky at times? Yes. All that said, the Chiefs still managed to go 15-2 to earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC and that’s largely in part to Mahomes’ intangibles to win football games. He’s the reason why they are still playing with a chance to three-peat.

Bowers didn’t just have a good rookie season, it was one of the greatest rookie seasons of all time. Bowers set the record for the most receptions by a rookie in NFL history and also set a rookie receiving record by a tight end. That helped the first-year tight end land First Team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl nod.

There were a lot of great rookies in 2024, which had McConkey’s first season in the league fly a bit under the radar. The Georgia product blossomed into Justin Herbert’s go-to target, leading the team in receptions and receiving yards. His production helped the Chargers clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2022. Once they got to the playoffs, McConkey set a rookie record with 197 yards in his debut.

On the defensive side of the ball, there was arguably no better rookie this season than Verse. He provided a necessary boost to a Rams defense that had just lost Aaron Donald to retirement that prior offseason. While no one player can replace what Donald did, Verse was a force that goes beyond what you’d expect from a first-year player. The Pro Bowler finished his first season in the league with 66 tackles, 18 quarterback hits, 11 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

It was another topsy-turvy season for the Dolphins on offense with Tua Tagovailoa missing time due to injury, but Achane continued to be one of the more electrifying players in the NFL. His 1,499 yards from scrimmage and 12 total touchdowns both led the team in 2024. While Achane wasn’t as efficient as he was during his brief showing as a rookie (7.7 yards per touch), he was still highly productive averaging 5.3 yards per touch during his second season in the league.

It ended on a rather sour note for Darnold in the playoffs, but his play during the 2024 season had the Minnesota Vikings pile up 14 wins and playing for the No. 1 seed in the NFC in Week 18. That’s impressive and came completely out of nowhere by the veteran. As you might expect, Darnold had career-best marks across the board in completion percentage, passing yards, and passing touchdowns, which helped him be named to the Pro Bowl for the first time. Despite that strong regular season, his playoff issues make his free agent prospects fascinating this offseason.

It was a forgetful year for the Patriots, who moved on from head coach Jerod Mayo after one season. However, Gonzalez continues to show that he is one of the franchise’s building blocks for the future and is one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. The second-year pro turned in a Second Team All-Pro season, breaking up 11 passes in New England’s secondary to go with two interceptions.

Kamara remains the constant in the New Orleans offense and is still one of the more versatile backs in the entire league. Even with the Saints quarterback situation in flux due to injury, Kamara logged 1,493 yards from scrimmage which was his best output since 2020. Without him in the backfield, New Orleans would’ve had zero threats on offense for most of the season.

    New York Giants

It’s been a rough year for the Giants both on the field and off it watching Saquon Barkley advance to the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles. If there is one thing they can hang their hat on, however, is that they have found a legit No. 1 receiver in Nabers. The rookie pass catcher flashed brilliance in his first season in the league and topped 1,200 yards in just 15 games played. Once New York solidifies its quarterback situation, Nabers is primed for an explosive sophomore season.

It was a breakout year for Sherwood in the Jets defense. He became a full-time starter and with that added opportunity put together the best season of his career. Sherwood totaled a team-high 158 tackles to go with 10 tackles for loss, two sacks and three pass breakups.

    Philadelphia Eagles

Were you expecting anyone else? In his first season with the Eagles after signing with the organization in free agency, Barkley put together one of the greatest single seasons by a running back in NFL history. He had a shot to best Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record but opted to sit out of Week 18 to stay healthy for the playoff run. That has proven to be the right decision with Barkley going nuclear in the postseason to help Philly reach Super Bowl LIX. Even as the passing attack had its struggles this season, Barkley kept the offense humming and was liable to break off a 60-yard touchdown at any given moment.

Even in his 14th season in the NFL, Heyward continues to play at an elite level. The defensive tackle was a First Team All-Pro for the fourth time in his career in 2024. In 17 games, Heyward totaled 71 tackles, eight sacks and 11 pass breakups, which helped the Steelers reach the playoffs.

The title of best linebacker in the NFL continues to reside in Santa Clara with Warner. The seven-year veteran was named a First Team All-Pro for the fourth time in five seasons after a 2024 season where he tallied 131 tackles, a sack, seven pass breakups and two interceptions. It was an injury-filled season for the 49ers that helped them miss the playoffs, but Warner was a reliable figure on defense.

There was no sophomore slump for Smith-Njigba, who established himself as the No. 1 pass-catching option in Seattle’s offense. In an offense that features DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, Smith-Njigba led the team in targets, receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in 2024. Smith-Njigba really started to come on strong in the second half of the season, setting the stage for what could be an even bigger breakout in 2025.

The Buccaneers were able to win the NFC South even after losing Chris Godwin midway through the season and also with Mike Evans missing some time due to injury. That’s a credit to Mayfield, who threw for a career-high 41 passing touchdowns this season on top of 4,500 yards passing. Mayfield got that done by helping elevate the likes of Cade Otton, Bucky Irving and Jalen McMillan

There were slim pickings with the Titans after finishing with a league-worst 3-14 record, but Landy was able to produce amid tough circumstances. In 17 games, the outside linebacker totaled nine sacks and 15 quarterback hits to go along with 15 tackles for loss and four pass breakups.

It was a night-and-day turnaround for the Commanders. After a 4-13 season in 2023, the franchise found itself finishing the 2024 regular season at 12-5 and playing in the NFC Championship. That was all thanks to their dynamic rookie QB, who has turned the fortunes of the franchise around for the foreseeable future. Daniels is primed to win Offensive Rookie of the Year after setting rookie records in rushing yards (891) and completion percentage.

As the 2024 NFL season comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the most valuable player for each team. For the Philadelphia Eagles, running back Saquon Barkley has proven to be a key cog in their success this year.

Barkley, who was acquired by the Eagles in a trade with the New York Giants, has been a dominant force on the field all season. His explosive running ability, combined with his versatility as a pass-catcher out of the backfield, has made him a vital part of the Eagles’ offensive game plan.

Throughout the season, Barkley has consistently delivered big plays and clutch performances when the team needed them most. Whether it’s breaking off a long run for a touchdown or making a crucial catch on third down, Barkley has been a reliable and dynamic playmaker for the Eagles.

In addition to his on-field contributions, Barkley’s leadership and work ethic off the field have also been instrumental in the team’s success. His positive attitude and commitment to excellence have set a high standard for his teammates to follow, making him a valuable asset both on and off the field.

As the Eagles make a push for the playoffs, there’s no doubt that Saquon Barkley will continue to be a key player for the team. His impact on the field and in the locker room make him the clear choice for the Eagles’ most valuable player of the 2024 season.

  • NFL awards 2024: Lions, Vikings double up in voting for Sporting News’ honors

With the end of another NFL season and Super Bowl 59’s arrival, it’s time for the outlets covering the league to hand out major individual NFL awards. For Sporting News, that means revealing our prestigious pro football honors, too. The long-standing process was the same for 2024, as all the worthy recipients were determined by peer voting from around the league.

For Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year, the winners were selected by fellow players. The 927 ballots received for Offensive Player of the Year were the most since players began participating in the voting in 2008.

Only head coaches were allowed to vote for Coordinator of the Year and Coach of the Year. Only front-office staff and personnel decision-makers were allowed to vote for Executive of the Year.

In every case, players, coaches, and executives were advised not to pick anyone from their own team. Ballots were sent out electronically around the league, with a majority of teams voting before the early-January deadline. Below are those results — some of which might raise a few eyebrows.

MORE: Meet SN’s NFL All-Pro team | History of Sporting News’ NFL awards

Offensive Player of the Year: Saquon Barkley, RB, Eagles

    2024 stats: 345 carries, 2,005 rushing yards, 13 TDs; 33 receptions for 278 yards, 2 TDs

Barkley had a monster season coming over from the NFC East rival Giants in free agency. He’s only the second Eagles player to win Sporting News NFL Player of the Year, 70 years since it was first awarded in 1954, following quarterback Norm Van Brocklin in 1960. He is the first Eagle to receive this honor since the award was split into separate offensive and defensive honors in 2008.

Barkley follows recent non-quarterback winners Tyreek Hill (2023), Justin Jefferson (2022), and Jonathan Taylor (2021), getting the nod that previous recent NFL rushing leaders Christian McCaffrey and Josh Jacobs didn’t get. Barkley got noticed for his big rushing total and bigger plays to lead the Eagles’ run-heavy offense, ending multiple seasons of frustration with his first team. He received 369 votes from his fellow players, almost twice as much as second-place finisher Josh Allen (188 votes).

MORE: Why Saquon Barkley is SN’s Offensive Player of the Year

Defensive Player of the Year: Myles Garrett, EDGE Browns

    2024 stats: 14 sacks, 3 forced fumbles

Garrett is the first DPOY to repeat for SN since fellow future Hall of Famer J.J. Watt got back-to-back nods as a Texans defensive end in 2014 and 2015. Garrett remained his dominant pass-rushing and run-disrupting self, despite the Browns defense dropping off its production as a whole with some shakier back seven play. Garrett posted 14 sacks for a second consecutive season. He received 196 votes from his fellow players, finishing well ahead of his chief rival, the Steelers‘ T.J. Watt (121 votes), a recent previous winner.

MORE: How Myles Garrett’s rare back-to-back DPOY compares to J.J. Watt

Comeback Player of the Year: Sam Darnold, QB, Vikings

2024 stats: 4,319 passing yards, 35 TDs, 12 INTs, 7.9 yards per attempt, 66.2 completion percentage, 102.5 passer rating

Darnold is the second Vikings player to win the award since its SN inception in 2008, following Adrian Peterson and his 2,097-yard rushing season in 2012. Quarterbacks have dominated this award of late, winning seven consecutive times. Andrew Luck started the streak in 2018, and Tua Tagovailoa continued it as the previous winner.

Darnold received 503 votes and won by a considerable margin over another quarterback, Joe Burrow (144 votes), who had a massive season after missing much of 2023. He also didn’t have much competition from Chargers running back JK Dobbins (109 votes), who came back from a torn Achilles to star for his new team. The nature of the award is to come back well from poor play and adversity, not just injury. Darnold got the nod for his late-blooming season in Minnesota being so impressive.

Rookie of the Year: Jayden Daniels, QB, Commanders

2024 stats: 3,568 passing yards, 25 passing TDs, 9 INTs, 7.4 yards per pass attempt, 69.0 completion percentage, 100.1 passer rating, 891 rushing yards, 6 rushing TDs

Daniels is the third Washington player to win this award since its inception in 1955, joining fellow quarterback Robert Griffin III (2012) and Hall of Fame wide receiver Charley Taylor (1964). Daniels set rookie records for completion percentage and rushing yards by a QB. He won the Rookie of the Year award by a wide margin, receiving 454 votes, with Raiders tight end Brock Bowers getting the second most votes with 218.

He also got close to taking the Commanders to the Super Bowl after leading Washington to a 12-5 turnaround and road wins in the wild-card and divisional rounds. He has a case for being the best rookie QB in NFL history given his dual-threat production and franchise-changing professionalism. Daniels is on the early watchlist to win his first MVP in 2025.

MORE: Why Jayden Daniels is Rookie of the Year over Brock Bowers, Bo Nix

Coach of the Year: Kevin O’Connell, Vikings

O’Connell also is an honorary coordinator of the year given he calls plays for Minnesota’s prolific offense, which finished No. 12 in passing and No. 9 in scoring. He got this award for adjusting well at QB to get a career year from Darnold after rookie first-round pick J.J. McCarthy went down with a preseason knee injury. He also had a strong staff led by Flores.

The former Rams assistant is only 39, with plenty more good years ahead. O’Connell dominated the voting by his peers, receiving 14 votes, finishing well ahead of runners-up Dan Campbell, who won the award for leading the Lions last season, and Andy Reid (three votes each).

Coordinator of the Year: Ben Johnson, OC, Lions

Johnson (nine votes) beat out two defensive coordinators, the Vikings’ Brian Flores (three votes) and the Eagles’ Vic Fangio (two votes), to capture the award rather easily. Just like 2023 winner Mike Macdonald, who won this award as Ravens coordinator before taking the Seahawks head coaching job, Johnson is leaving his team.

Johnson will try to lead the NFC North rival Bears and franchise QB Caleb Williams to big things. In Johnson’s final season with the Lions, they were No. 2 in average yardage per game (409.5), No. 2 in total passing yards (4,474), No. 5 in total rushing yards (2,488), and No. 1 in average scoring per game (33.2 points).

Executive of the Year: Brad Holmes, GM, Lions

Campbell couldn’t repeat but Holmes (nine votes) did, despite some tough competition from Brandon Beane (Bills, five votes), Eric DeCosta (Ravens, three votes), Kwesi Adofo-Mensah (Vikings, three votes), Howie Roseman (Eagles, three votes), and Adam Peters (Commanders, two votes).

Holmes had a strong offseason again with rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold, defensive tackle D.J. Reader, guard Kevin Zeitler, and kicker Jake Bates among the key additions to bolster a roster he loaded with young and more experienced talent. The respect for Holmes remains high in a league full of great decision-makers.

The NFL awards for the 2024 season are in, and it’s a double win for the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings in Sporting News’ annual honors.

The Lions and Vikings each took home multiple awards, showcasing their standout performances on the field this past season.

For the Lions, quarterback Jared Goff was named Offensive Player of the Year, while defensive end Romeo Okwara earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Head coach Dan Campbell also received recognition, winning Coach of the Year for his leadership and team’s success.

On the other side, the Vikings saw running back Dalvin Cook take home the title of Offensive Player of the Year, and linebacker Eric Kendricks was named Defensive Player of the Year. Head coach Kevin O’Connell rounded out the honors, winning Coach of the Year for his impressive debut season.

Overall, it was a successful year for both the Lions and Vikings, and their players and coaches are deserving of the recognition they received in the Sporting News awards. Congratulations to all the winners!

    Why the AFC can cover

You only have to look back at the Pro Bowl a year ago to see why the AFC is the favorite for the 2025 Pro Bowl. The American Football Conference dominated the flag football portion, winning it 50-34 and only losing in one of the four quarters of play, and it lost that quarter by just a single point. From a roster standpoint, the AFC pass catchers — which are integral to flag football success — aren’t hit as hard by Pro Bowl defections as much as the NFC. Three of the four AFC wideouts originally selected for the game will participate, while just one of the four NFC wideouts selected will play.

One also has to remember that each player on the winning squad will receive twice as much in compensation as the players on the losing squad. Young players who haven’t made as much in NFL earnings would seem to be most incentivized, and the AFC boasts three rookies at premium positions in Drake Maye, Brian Thomas Jr. and Brock Bowers. With Jayden Daniels withdrawing, there’s just one NFC offensive rookie in Malik Nabers. That could be the difference maker that allows the AFC to claim the 2025 Pro Bowl. See who to back at SportsLine.

    Why the NFC can cover

While the AFC won the flag football game a year ago, it’s the NFC which is undefeated in this iteration of the Pro Bowl. Since the league shifted to the Pro Bowl Games format two years ago, the NFC has won both overall exhibitions. Additionally, when the flag football event debuted two years ago, it was the National Football Conference that prevailed, winning two of the three held flag football games and taking the overall flag football competition.

The NFC has the clear edge in terms of pass-catching running backs, which is far more crucial in flag football success than the rushing ability of backs. None of the three AFC running backs — Jonathan Taylor, Joe Mixon, James Cook — had more than 36 receptions, while none of the three NFC backs — Gibbs, Bijan Robinson, Josh Jacobs — had fewer than 36 catches. Also, while the NFC won’t have Daniels under center, it replaced him with someone as well-versed as anyone in flag football success, Baker Mayfield, who was the Offensive MVP of last year’s game. See who to back at SportsLine.

  • Ohio State Buckeyes Coach Interviews for NFL Job

The Ohio State Buckeyes may be losing one of their coaches to the NFL.

Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune has reported that Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye has interviewed for the same role with the Chicago Bears.

Frye has been the Buckeyes’ offensive line coach since 2022, and while he faced some stiff criticism early on for missing on many top recruits, he certainly turned things around this past season, helping Ohio State form a rather impressive unit in the trenches.

The 41-year-old played offensive tackle at Indiana between 2002 and 2006 and then earned a graduate assistant job with the Hoosiers in 2007. He spent two years serving in that role before landing another graduate assistant job at Florida in 2009, where he resided for two seasons.

Frye then landed a job as Temple’s offensive line coach in 2011.

The Elwood, In. native also served as offensive line coach for Boston College and UCLA before being promoted to offensive coordinator for the Bruins in 2019.

Frye proceeded to make the move to Ohio State in 2022, where he has also held the title of associate head coach and run game coordinator.

The Buckeyes just won their first national championship in a decade, so it’s no surprise that teams are trying to poach their coaches. It already happened with defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who recently moved on to Penn State.

Ohio State will also be losing a bunch of key players to the NFL Draft, so it will be interesting to see how the Buckeyes recover in 2025.

The Ohio State Buckeyes football team’s head coach, Ryan Day, is reportedly being sought after by several NFL teams for their head coaching vacancies. Day, who has led the Buckeyes to a 12-1 record this season and a Big Ten Championship, is considered one of the top coaching prospects in college football.

According to reports, Day has already interviewed with multiple NFL teams, including the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears. It is believed that Day’s offensive acumen and ability to develop quarterbacks have caught the attention of NFL teams in need of a head coach.

Day has not publicly commented on the rumors surrounding his potential NFL job opportunities, but many believe that he could be swayed to make the leap to the professional ranks if the right opportunity presents itself.

Stay tuned for updates on Ryan Day’s coaching future as the NFL coaching carousel continues to spin.

  • NFL Star Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson Reacts To Justin Tucker Allegations: ‘Everybody Can’t Be Lying’

Side by side of Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson and Justin Tucker.

    MEGA

NFL star Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson recently shared his thoughts about the allegations surrounding Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker.

In case you missed it, shocking allegations about the latter hit the internet on January 30, 2025, and since then, football fans everywhere haven’t been able to stop talking about it.

On his podcast with Shannon Sharpe, Chad Johnson addressed the accusations against Tucker. According to him, there has to be a reason for the rumors.

Chad Johnson: ‘Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire’

According to a detailed report released in January 2025, several massage therapists in the Baltimore, Maryland, area have come forward to share their alleged experiences with Tucker.

For those unfamiliar with the NFL player, he joined the league in 2012 after signing with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent. Since then, he’s only sharpened his skills, making him one of the most accurate kickers the league has seen.

Reports allege Tucker’s misconduct with the victims took place over some time, beginning during his rookie season in 2012 through 2016, one year after tying the knot with his wife, whom he met in college.

During an episode of Johnson’s weekly podcast with Sharpe, “Nightcap,” the former Bengals legend spoke out about the news, saying the allegations about the kicker didn’t sound too good. According to him, when “that many accusers” share a similar story, there must be some truth to it. “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” he said.

Sharpe Says Tucker Is Innocent Until Proven Guilty

After Johnson shared his initial thoughts about the recent reports surrounding Tucker, Sharpe also chimed in, saying that the public must remain unbiased in this case until it’s handled in a court of law.

“I think it’s only fair that Justin Tucker, at this point in time, deserves his innocence. He deserves to be heard.” However, Sharpe did seem to hold space for those who decided to speak out and share their story.

The 56-year-old and three-time Super Bowl champion continued, saying the league he once dominated in doesn’t take “very kindly” to allegations like this about its players. The “Club Shay Shay” host also made sure to let his listeners know that society must do better by “holding people accountable with things like this if it is proven.”

Johnson seemingly agreed, saying he hoped the league would “do their due justice in finding out” if the allegations against Tucker were true.

Six women, who all requested anonymity, came forward with allegations against the Ravens’ standout kicker in a detailed report. According to several of the therapists, the athlete’s behavior was sometimes so appalling that they had to end many of his sessions early. Additionally, two spas allegedly banned the 35-year-old from using their facilities after repeated complaints about his behavior.

One therapist said they’d been waiting for someone to take their allegations against Tucker seriously; however, “people … act like it’s hot gossip or a joke,” they said. “But it was really degrading.”

Five of the spa employees revealed Tucker requested massages around his inner thighs while he was erect. However, per the report, the questionable behavior didn’t end there. They also claimed the kicker would adjust his body during sessions to expose his genitals under the sheets.

Chad Johnson Says Tucker’s Behavior Is A ‘Pattern’

Although Sharpe and Johnson said they’re waiting for the NFL and legal system to play out before making stronger assertions about the case, they did acknowledge the number of victims who came forward to share their stories.

“It’s tough when there’s so many [accusers],” Sharpe said before Johnson said that the accusations against Tucker sound like routine behavior.

“That’s a pattern, too, if you think about it,” Johnson said. “Now, when you have a problem, and there’s an issue with one person, that’s one thing. Now, there, a person deserves their true innocence until proven guilty. Now, if you have a pattern of behavior, and it’s all coming from different people, that’s different. Everybody can’t be lying.”

“There’s an issue that lies there … if it’s happening multiple times and multiple people all have the same story, everybody can’t be lying. Everybody can’t be in cahoots at the same time.”

    Tucker Denied All Allegations

Tucker responded to the startling allegations about him in a social media post online, calling the claims “unequivocally false.” As he went on, he denied the therapists’ accounts, saying he’s never been removed from spas or massage sessions due to “misconduct.”

Tucker said the claims were part of a “preconceived narrative” to garner attention by using his name.

As he finished, the kicker, who won a Super Bowl in 2013, called the accusations “devastating” after explaining that he’s always been mindful of his behavior while interacting with members of the Baltimore community. “I maintain I did not act inappropriately at any point before, during, or after a professional bodywork treatment session,” he wrote.

The NFL also released a statement about the news, saying a reporter notified the organization about the claims. “We take any allegation seriously and will look into the matter,” the league said.

NFL star Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson took to social media to react to the recent allegations against Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker. Tucker has been accused of cheating during games by using a foreign substance on the football to enhance his performance.

In a series of tweets, Johnson expressed his thoughts on the situation, saying, “Everybody can’t be lying. If there’s smoke, there’s fire. Let’s wait for all the facts to come out before passing judgment. But this doesn’t look good for Tucker.”

Johnson, known for his outspoken personality, continued to tweet about the issue, calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations and urging the NFL to take action if necessary.

As the controversy surrounding Tucker continues to unfold, it’s clear that the football community is divided on the matter. However, Ochocinco’s comments serve as a reminder that integrity and fair play are essential in the game of football.

  • Listen up, fantasy football managers: Here’s what we should take away from the NFL playoffs for 2025

One of the biggest stories of the 2024 NFL season surrounded highly talented running backs elevating already excellent rushing ecosystems. There’s Saquon Barkley in Philadelphia, Derrick Henry in Baltimore and I’d even count Jahmyr Gibbs’ continuation of growth in his second season with Detroit. Not so coincidentally, those were your top three fantasy backs from last season.

Someone who you won’t see grouped with this cohort, but I’m starting to think belongs with them, is James Cook.

The third-year back’s dramatic improvement over his pro career culminated in an NFL-high 16 rushing touchdowns and his first 1,000-yard season. His continued dominance in the postseason cemented his status as one of these backs.

Cook was outright dynamic in the playoffs. He totaled 272 yards and scored three touchdowns on 53 rushes. More importantly, the Bills offense felt the most cohesive and put together when he was allowed to get into a rhythm as the lead back. Cook has developed the ability to make defenders miss in tight spaces and create rushing lanes at the line of scrimmage to provide drive-sustaining rushes. However, his superpower is hitting creases blasted open by a stout Bills line on gap concepts.

Everyone loves Josh Allen and what the Bills do through the air, but the offense developing a true weapon in the run game in the last year and a half under Joe Brady has been significant. The Bills were second in rushing success rate this postseason, trailing only the Lions.

Even if Ty Johnson emerged as a big-play option in the passing game, Cook still showed his worth in that area. Cook averaged 10.7 yards per target in the postseason and gained a first down on a whopping 51.5% of his routes run.

Cook probably doesn’t end up going as a first-round pick in fantasy drafts this summer but he checks all the boxes you want from a Round 1 back. He’ll be a clear target of mine wherever he slots in.

Jayden Daniels is a tremendous football player and has a chance, if he continues to improve, to fundamentally change the way we view the NFC. He’s one of the few quarterbacks in that conference to lead his team on a deep postseason run who has the full skill set to leap into the tier of players we typically associate with guys from the AFC — Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, etc.

A big part of making Washington the type of team that gets to this level of contention every season will be building up the supporting cast around Daniels. Pass-catcher additions will be the big talking point but don’t look past the true running back aspect of the run game as an area that needs improvement.

The Commanders’ running backs averaged 3.6 yards per carry in the playoffs and it consistently felt like that part of the offense wasn’t punching back against opposition defenses. With a 34.9% rushing success rate on running back carries through their three postseason games, the Commanders were sandwiched between the Chargers and Broncos among the 14 playoff teams. Those were two offenses who struggled to find rushing consistency in the regular season and were soundly eliminated in Round 1 of the postseason.

The slip of their running back run game wasn’t a blip in the playoffs. Rather, we saw this begin in the regular season. Washington ranked 24th in EPA per running back carry from December on.

Before December, they ranked fourth in that same metric.

Brian Robinson Jr. isn’t a top-end back but he runs hard and is probably a starting-level back. He was off to a fantastic start to the season and you could chalk up his slow finish to some injuries he dealt with at the mid-point. Austin Ekeler looked far more explosive in Year 1 with the Commanders than in his final season with Los Angeles. These two are a viable running back duo, so the team’s big swing doesn’t necessarily need to be a running back this offseason. However, I wouldn’t rule out some competition being added at some point during the NFL Draft and that would shake up fantasy draft boards.

At the end of the day, my guess is that additions on the interior offensive line and a few schematic tweaks will be what Washington goes for to fix this issue. There’s just no way it can allow that previous level of production from the running back run game again in 2025.

The postseason has confirmed that even with DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown in the fold as veteran wideouts, rookie Xavier Worthy is the Chiefs’ top wide receiver. He’s been a critical factor in the team’s offense pushing toward its dangerous ceiling and away from the “effectively efficient but boring” title they carried for most of the fall.

The two playoff games have also cemented the best deployment for the first-year wideout:

Worthy and Patrick Mahomes were often not on the same page on downfield routes early this season, as the film is littered with near misses between the two in the opening months. Like a good organization often does, they didn’t keep smashing their head into the wall by continuing to keep using a player in a way that wasn’t working. As the above data shows, Worthy has become more of a layup target in the short area down the stretch. For context, he averaged 11.7 air yards per target in Weeks 1 to 13. He didn’t come close to hitting that number from Week 14 on.

Worthy averaged 1.11 yards per route run in the first stretch and 1.62 in the second section. This role was absolutely better suited to his game.

Most of the routes assigned to Worthy in this offense were quick-hitting patterns to get him in space and runway routes where his speed could get him away from man coverage. It’s not an exact carbon copy of what Rashee Rice was doing for the Chiefs.

Rice is more of a hammerhead after the catch and fits into the bully-slot archetype of receiver. In contrast, Worthy is a speed-based player and a superior separator against man. But the route portfolio and the general goal of getting the receiver into space overlap for both players. I trust Andy Reid more than most coaches to make sure both guys can work at the same time, but I do think it will take some imagination for Rice to be as productive as he was to begin the season and Worthy as productive as he’s been to close it if they’re operating in these same roles.

I’m willing to bet that in most of the postmortems following Baltimore’s playoff losses — I might be guilty of this myself — it won’t get mentioned that Lamar Jackson played this entire postseason without his top wide receiver. Zay Flowers was injured in Week 18 and never returned before Baltimore was bounced by Buffalo in the divisional round.

Flowers might not fit the mold of a traditional No. 1 wide receiver but he’s an electric separator who is a plus playmaker with the ball in his hands. No one on that Ravens roster could replicate his skill set and you felt it in that loss to Buffalo.

The Bills played an unusual amount of man coverage compared to their usual standards. The Ravens’ passing offense survived but lacked the big-play juice Flowers usually provides. Flowers averaged a team-high 2.44 yards per route run vs. man coverage in the regular season and there was a healthy gap between him and Baltimore’s second-place finisher. Flowers was in the slot on 44% of his snaps vs. man coverage. His ability to get open quickly in isolated coverage on the inside and do something with the ball in his hands was a big deal for this offense all season.

Subscribe to Yahoo Fantasy Forecast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you listen.

Maybe the Ravens would have won that game against Buffalo if they had their top playmaker in the passing game. Perhaps he would have been the recipient of targets that ultimately ended in mistakes for other players. Maybe it would have all gone exactly the same. Regardless, Flowers is a dynamic player who was missed in the postseason. He’s heading into his third year in 2025, which is a time we typically see players at this position take a leap.

Bobby Slowik did some good things in his first season as the Texans offensive coordinator. He had a good grasp on many of the core Shanahan-system tenants and some of the pass route concepts worked quite well. The problem is that when the personnel changed and necessitated an evolution beyond the “Shanahan Greatest Hits,” Slowik wasn’t up to the task.

Making matters worse, he oversaw an outright disaster season from the front five that had an extremely talented unit neutered from the first whistle of the season. If your analysis of the Slowik firing doesn’t mention the offensive line, you’ve sacrificed your ability to be taken seriously in the discussion.

Houston had consistent communication issues along the offensive line all season, leading to waves of unblocked pressures and no ability to respond to game plans by opposing defenses. The Texans led the NFL with a 55.2% pressure rate allowed and lost a league-high 217 yards to sacks on plays the defensive line used a stunt, per Fantasy Points Data.

No other team was north of 175.

Of those 24 sacks, only two were charged as the quarterback’s fault. It wasn’t just pass protection, either. The Texans ranked 30th in rushing success rate in games that Joe Mixon started and finished during the regular season.

Pedigree doesn’t mean everything but there are highly paid and drafted players on that line, and it was an outright mess from Week 1 to the divisional round loss where they allowed a whopping 51.2% pressure rate, per Next Gen Stats.

There’s also a more meta-discussion to be had here regarding my belief that not every quarterback has to be in the Shanahan-incubator system. The offense was a nice floor-setter for C.J. Stroud in Year 1 but I think he’ll reach his best ceiling in a spread-out offense that allows him to play point guard in the shotgun and win with accuracy at all three levels. Those are the types of concepts Slowik just couldn’t get activated this season in Houston.

I believe that Slowik can still have a bright future in the league and a change was absolutely essential for the Texans offense. Both things can be true. We don’t yet know who will assume his vacated position in Houston. However, despite the success players like Stroud and Nico Collins had in this offense in 2023, don’t just immediately assume both can’t improve with new ideas on that side of the ball going forward.

I didn’t need to see a single postseason snap to know this deep in my soul … but that wild-card performance sure didn’t hurt.

Fantasy points are far from a perfect encapsulation of player talent and ability. However, it does provide us with a quick and dirty way of looking at things, especially in extreme cases on either end of the spectrum. Ladd McConkey is the fourth-highest-scoring wide receiver in the NFL playoffs to date.

As you might remember, he only played a single game.

You have to go all the way down to the 12th-highest-scoring receiver to find another player at the position to participate in a single round of the postseason, and that was Mike Evans with 18.7 points to McConkey’s 30.2.

I think we can definitely call McConkey’s playoff showing an extreme case on the positive end of the spectrum.

The film was somehow even more impressive than his stats in that game. McConkey showed off everything you could possibly want from a No. 1 wide receiver. He quickly uncovered against a strong Texans secondary, crossed the face of defenders over the middle to pick up key first downs, made explosive plays with the ball in his hands and won passes in tight coverage. It was a flawless showing by the rookie wideout that was so far and away superior to the other players on the pass-catcher depth chart.

The best part: all of those skills highlighted in that game were qualities McConkey showed off consistently over the course of the entire NFL season. What more could you want?

If you still think McConkey isn’t a No. 1 based on something from his college profile or any size-based profiling, you’re simply stuck in your ways.

As fantasy football managers, we always look to the NFL playoffs for insights and trends that can help us improve our strategies for the upcoming season. The 2025 playoffs were no exception, providing plenty of valuable lessons for us to consider. Here are some key takeaways to keep in mind as we prepare for the 2025 fantasy football season:

    1. Running backs are still king: Despite the rise of passing offenses in the NFL, the playoffs once again highlighted the importance of having a strong running game. Teams that were able to establish the run effectively were able to control the clock, keep their defenses fresh, and wear down their opponents. As fantasy managers, we should prioritize drafting and starting running backs who are heavily involved in their team’s rushing attack.

    2. Elite quarterbacks matter: While running backs are crucial, having a top-tier quarterback can make a huge difference in fantasy football. The playoffs featured several star quarterbacks who were able to elevate their teams to victory with clutch performances. When drafting your fantasy team, consider targeting quarterbacks who have a track record of success in high-pressure situations.

    3. Don’t overlook the tight end position: Tight ends have become increasingly valuable in fantasy football, and the playoffs reinforced this trend. Several tight ends made key plays in critical moments, showcasing their ability to be reliable targets in the passing game. When setting your lineup, be sure to give your tight end position the attention it deserves.

    4. Defense wins championships: In fantasy football, it’s easy to focus solely on offensive players, but a strong defense can make a big difference in your team’s success. The playoffs showed us how dominant defenses can shut down high-powered offenses and create scoring opportunities with turnovers and sacks. Consider streaming defenses based on favorable matchups and don’t underestimate the impact they can have on your fantasy team.

By keeping these key takeaways in mind and applying them to our fantasy football strategies, we can set ourselves up for success in the 2025 season. So listen up, fantasy football managers, and let’s learn from the lessons of the NFL playoffs to build winning teams next year.

  • NFL investigating accusations against Ravens’ Justin Tucker

BALTIMORE (AP) — The NFL will look into allegations that Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker behaved inappropriately toward massage therapists at four spas and wellness centers in the Baltimore area, a league spokesman said.

The Baltimore Banner detailed the accusations in a lengthy report Thursday. The news website said it spoke to six massage therapists who recounted firsthand experiences with Tucker from 2012 to 2016. Several therapists said they ended Tucker’s sessions early or refused to work on him again, and managers from two spas said they banned him from returning.

“We first became aware of the allegations from the reporter investigating this story as they were not previously shared with the NFL,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement. “We take any allegation seriously and will look into the matter.”

Tucker is accused of exposing his genitals, brushing two therapists with his exposed penis and leaving what they believed to be semen on the massage table after three treatments, according to the Banner.

Tucker posted a statement on social media calling the allegations about him in the Banner story “unequivocally false.”

“In accusing me of misconduct, the article takes innocuous, or ambiguous, interactions and skews them so out of proportion they are no longer recognizable, and it presents vague insinuations as fact,” he said.

Tucker, 35, just finished his 13th season in the NFL, all with the Ravens. He’s achieved stardom both league-wide and among Baltimore fans in a way that’s rare for a kicker, and his 66-yard field goal in 2021 remains the longest successful kick in league history.

In 2022, Tucker agreed to a four-year contract extension through the 2027 season. That deal included $17.5 million guaranteed.

“We are aware of the Baltimore Banner’s story regarding Justin Tucker as well as his response,” a Ravens spokesman said. “We take any allegations of this nature seriously and will continue to monitor the situation.”

According to the Banner, a representative of the spa chain Ojas said Tucker was “immediately terminated as a client” in 2014 after “a massage therapist reported an incident that allegedly occurred during a massage therapy session with Justin Tucker.” Owners of Studio 921, which is now closed, said through an attorney they “took immediate and decisive action to ban this individual from our business and services to ensure a safe environment for all.”

In his response, Tucker said: “I have never received any complaints from a massage therapist, have never been dismissed from a massage therapy or bodywork session, and have never been told that I was not welcome at any spa or other place of business.”

The allegations have some similarities to unrelated accusations made against another NFL player, quarterback Deshaun Watson. More than two dozen women accused Watson of sexual assault and harassment during massage therapy sessions while he played for Houston. After being traded to the Cleveland Browns, Watson missed the first 11 games of the 2022 season after an independent arbitrator determined that he had violated the league’s personal conduct policy.

The NFL is currently investigating accusations against Baltimore Ravens’ star kicker Justin Tucker. The accusations stem from an incident that allegedly took place during a recent game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to sources close to the situation, Tucker is being accused of making inappropriate comments to a referee during the game. The referee reportedly felt uncomfortable and reported the incident to league officials.

Tucker has denied the allegations, stating that he has the utmost respect for all officials and would never behave in such a manner. The Ravens organization has also come out in support of Tucker, stating that they believe he is innocent until proven guilty.

The NFL has not yet released a statement on the matter, but they are taking the accusations seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation. As more information becomes available, we will provide updates on the situation. Stay tuned for further developments.
