HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A Henrico Doctors’ Hospital NICU nurse has been arrested and charged with child abuse and malicious wounding, Crime Insider sources tell Jon Burkett.

Erin Strotman, 26, of Chesterfield County was arrested Thursday. She is charged with one count of child abuse and neglect, and one count of malicious wounding in connection to an incident that occurred in November 2024.

This comes days after we reported that Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor confirmed that her office had reopened a 2023 case involving a baby that experienced a fracture while in the NICU at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital.

CBS 6 reported last week that the hospital was pausing admission to their NICU after three babies were found in late November and December with “unexplainable fractures.” Those incidents were similar to others in the summer of 2023 involving four other babies.

Nick Nurse notices an important difference in Sixers star Tyrese Maxey

Basketball is a kid’s game, at the end of the day. It is meant to be played with joy and happiness whenever anybody steps on the court and laces up the sneakers.

To begin the 2024-25 season, Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey wasn’t playing with that joy. He looked a bit off and it affected everything from his individual game to the team as the Sixers got off to a miserable 3-14 start amid the high expectations placed upon them.

Through the first 17 games of the season, of which Maxey played 11 of them, he averaged 25.7 points and shot only 41.3% from the floor and 31.8% from deep. Over the last 12 games, Maxey’s averaging 26.3 points and his 3-point percentage has gone up to 36% over that span. Most notably, coach Nick Nurse sees his star guard happy again.

“I think that’s naturally who he is, right?” Nurse told reporters. “So when it’s not there, you know there’s something going on with him, and the truth of the matter was, is there was just a lot going on for everybody to start the year including him not playing, probably, the way he wanted to, or up to his capabilities, or the way played a year ago.”

The Sixers had a lot going on to begin the season. There were a slew of injuries, lots of losing, a team meeting, and that is a lot for players to handle. Especially, for a player like Maxey who plays with such joy and tries to battle through all of that stuff.

“Again, some of that bumpy, windy stuff, gets smoothed out,” Nurse added. “He starts playing a lot better, starts making some shots, team just starts playing better, in general, I think is all part of it. It is noticeable that he’s playing more joyful basketball, for sure.”
