Georgia basketball opens daunting SEC slate at Ole Miss

The Georgia Bulldogs handled test after test in non-conference play and entered the new year with an impressive 12-1 record, the program’s best start in 94 years. The challenge now is to stand out in an incredibly deep SEC, and it starts Saturday in a marquee road game.

Georgia (12-1) will take on No. 24 Ole Miss (11-2) in a 12 p.m. ET game that will be televised by SEC Network. The Bulldogs enter the game off a 79-72 win over South Carolina State on Sunday, while the Rebels suffered an 87-70 loss at Memphis on Saturday.

The discussion surrounding Georgia toward the end of December was centered on the task that lay ahead in conference play. SEC teams went a combined 185-23 in non-conference play, which included a 28-19 record in Q1 games and a 21-8 mark against AP top 25 opponents.

Georgia basketball is much better in Mike White‘s third season, but so is the rest of the league.

“We better be ready, right? And a ton of opportunities at the same time,” White said prior to the Buffalo game. “Each one of these opportunities will help us grow, too, and help us get better. It’s a process. It’s a long SEC season. But right now, it’s [about our next opponent].”

Georgia players made it clear that they understand there will be no easy games against SEC foes this season.

Point guard Silas Demary Jr. was introduced to life in the SEC last season, and the sophomore is ready for more in Year 2. Demary credited the SEC for being made up of a lot of teams beaming with self-confidence, and he emphasized that their physicality stands out. Forward RJ Godfrey is a veteran but not when it comes to the SEC, and the Clemson transfer admitted the conference’s dominance across the board — specifically against ACC competition — caught him off guard.

“It does kind of surprise us because when you’re in the ACC, they’re like, oh, they’re doubting us, and there’s always four tournament teams that make it deep every year,” Godfrey said. “This year I’m definitely surprised by it. Just turn on the TV and watching the different teams whip on different conferences. That’s definitely something that I was surprised with this year.”

The Bulldogs understand they’ll have to up their game after flirting with disaster the last time out.

Georgia struggled immensely in the first half against South Carolina State, and the home Bulldogs found themselves down 41-24 at the break. Despite the dire situation, Georgia responded after halftime by shooting 74.1% from the field, putting up 55 points, and forcing 9 turnovers in a come-from-behind victory. Three Bulldogs — Demary (10), Asa Newell (12), and Tyrin Lawrence (13) — scored double-digit points in the second half alone.

Georgia survived the scare against South Carolina State, but it will have to play much better in order to leave Oxford 1-0 in SEC action.

The Rebels haven’t been the most efficient shooters this season, but they’ve been fantastic in terms of taking care of the ball. Ole Miss sits sixth nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9), a product of delivering 16.4 assists per game (68th nationally) and only turning the ball over 8.6 times per contest (4th nationally). The Rebels are also averaging 5.0 blocks per game, an effort led by guard Tre Davis (13).

Other notable Ole Miss players include guard Sean Pedulla (team-high 14.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, team-high 32 steals), guard Jaylen Murray (13.2 ppg, 44.4 3PT%, team-high 55 assists), guard Matthew Murrell (11.7 ppg, 43.3 FG%, 22 steals) and forward Malik Dia (7.1 ppg, team-high 5.4 rpg, 8 blocks).

Georgia passed nearly every test they took in non-conference play, but there’s no denying the level of difficulty is set to ramp up. Saturday’s game at Ole Miss marks the first of seven straight games against ranked opponents, and how the Bulldogs play may show us how prepared they are for the weeks ahead.

The Georgia Bulldogs are set to kick off their SEC basketball season with a tough matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels on the road. The Bulldogs will be looking to start their conference play on the right foot as they face a challenging opponent in Ole Miss.

This game will be a crucial test for Georgia as they look to establish themselves as contenders in the SEC this season. Ole Miss is always a tough team to beat at home, so the Bulldogs will need to bring their A-game in order to come out on top.

Led by head coach Tom Crean, Georgia will look to rely on their talented roster to pull off a big road win. Players like Sahvir Wheeler, Toumani Camara, and K.D. Johnson will need to step up and make big plays in order to secure a victory.

The Bulldogs will need to focus on their defense and rebounding in order to contain Ole Miss’ potent offense. If they can execute their game plan and play with energy and intensity, Georgia has a good chance of coming away with a win.

It’s sure to be an exciting and intense matchup as Georgia basketball opens their SEC slate at Ole Miss. Fans can tune in to see if the Bulldogs can start their conference season off on the right foot and make a statement in the SEC.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Georgia closed out their non-conference schedule with a record of 12-1, and enter SEC play on a seven game winning streak. They picked up notable wins over Georgia Tech, St. John’s, Notre Dame, and Grand Canyon, and are receiving votes in both the AP and Coaches top-25 polls.

Five players are averaging double figures for Georgia, led by De’Shayne Montgomery at 16.0 points per game. The sophomore transfer from Mount St. Mary’s was recently approved to play in the past three games for the Bulldogs, and has made an immediate impact by shooting 73.1 percent from the field while collecting nine steals. Freshman star Asa Newell leads Georgia in rebounding at 6.4 boards per contest, and is averaging 15.5 points. He ranks third among SEC players with a field goal percentage of 59.0.

Led by Somto Cyril with 26 blocks on the season, Georgia ranks fifth in the nation with an average of 6.0 blocks per game. The Bulldogs have been a force on the boards, out-rebounding their opponents by a margin of +10.4 to begin the year, the 11th-highest in the country. Georgia also ranks among the best in all of college ball in field goal percentage (50.7, No. 13 in NCAA), scoring margin (+18.5, No. 18 in NCAA), and three-point percentage defense (28.0, No. 18 in NCAA).

Head coach Mike White is in his third year with the Georgia program, holding a record of 48-34 in Athens. He previously spent seven seasons at Florida, where he compiled a 142-88 record and earned four NCAA Tournament berths. He got his first head coaching job at Louisiana Tech in 2011, where he coached for four years and led the Bulldogs to a 101-40 record. Prior to entering the head coaching ranks, White spent seven seasons as an assistant for the Ole Miss program under head coaches Rod Barnes and Andy Kennedy. A graduate of Ole Miss himself, White was a four-year starter for the Rebels basketball team, helping them win two SEC West titles and a trio of NCAA Tournament berths. His 370 career assists rank as the seventh-most in school history, after leading the team in assists per game all four of his seasons on campus.

“POLL” POSITION
In the latest top-25 polls released this past Monday, Ole Miss ranks No. 24 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Recently at No. 15 in the Coaches Poll on December 9, it was the highest ranking in a national poll since the Rebels were No. 14 in the AP Poll on January 4, 2010, and the highest position in the Coaches Poll since they sat in 15th on January 21 in 2008.

AP FLOUR, SUGAR, SALT, BUTTER, AND WATER
Ole Miss has dominated the turnover battle this year, ranking third in the nation with a turnover margin of +7.4 while ranking seventh in turnovers per game at 9.0. The Rebels are forcing an average of 16.4 turnovers per contest which ranks 18th in the NCAA. Ole Miss’ assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.82 also ranks among the nation’s best at 9th, led by Jaylen Murray with a season ratio of 3.24. They’ve been a force on the defensive end with an average of 10.2 steals per game (No. 14 in NCAA), paced by Sean Pedulla, who ranks No. 20 in steals per game nationally.

EASY TO HANDLE – A DIME BY THE DOZEN
Recording an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.35 in his first season with Ole Miss, senior Jaylen Murray has taken his point guard play to an even higher level, beginning the 2024-25 year with 55 assists to just 17 turnovers. His assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.24 ranks 24th in the nation. “Juju” has registered five or more assists in seven games for the Rebels this season and ranks seventh in the SEC with 4.2 assists per game.

During his time at Ole Miss, Murray is averaging 4.04 assists per game, the fifth best career average in program history.

Career Assists Average
1. 7.09, Sean Tuohy (830 assists, 117 games, 1979-82)
2. 4.89, Bob Mahoney (329 assists, 74 games, 1973-75)
3. 4.43, Rod Barnes (456 assists, 103 games, 1985-88)
4. 4.36, Dave Shepherd (218 assists, 50 games, 1974-75)
5. 4.04, Jaylen Murray (182 assists, 45 games, 2023-pres.)
6. 3.96, Jarvis Summers (530 assists, 134 games, 2012-15)
7. 3.93, Chris Warren (452 assists, 115 games, 2008-11)
8. 3.60, Henry Jackson (378 assists, 105 games, 1976-79)
9. 3.53, Todd Abernethy (431 assists, 122 games, 2004-07)
10. 3.52, Deandre Burnett (225 assists, 64 games, 2016-18)

I’LL TAKE THAT, PLEASE
Sean Pedulla has been a force for the Rebels on defense, forcing 32 steals for an average of 2.5 per game. The senior guard has collected a steal in 12 of 13 games to begin the 2024-25 season, grabbing multiple swipes in nine games this year with a season-best of five against Oral Roberts.

A “DO-IT-ALL” SCHOOL
Ole Miss is one of just three schools in the nation that currently hold a spot in the AP Top 25 in football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball, joined by Alabama and Tennessee. On the gridiron, the Rebels rank No. 16 while men’s hoops ranks No. 24 and the women No. 25.

LET’S PLAY DEFENSE
A staple of success for head coach Chris Beard has always been his team’s defensive play, and it’s been evident on this year’s Ole Miss roster to start the season. With a turnover margin of +7.4, the Rebels own the third-best average in all of college basketball, forcing 16.4 per game (No. 18 in the NCAA) while committing just 9.0 to rank seventh in the NCAA.

They have held opponents to 60 points or less in four games this season, allowing an average of just 65.4 per contest, the 48th-fewest in the NCAA. Their field goal percentage defense of 41.1 ranks 88th in the country this season, and Ole Miss holds a record of 13-1 in two years under Beard when holding the opposition to under 40 percent from the field. Their scoring margin of +15.5 this season is the 36th-best figure in the country.

Ole Miss ranks among the top teams in the nation in steals per game at 10.2, the 14th-best clip in college basketball, and blocks per game at 5.0 to rank 35th.

BATTLE TESTED
The future schedule for Ole Miss is one of the most difficult in the nation. As of January 2, they own the second-toughest remaining strength of schedule in the nation, according to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index. Their remaining opponent’s win percentage of 89.3 is the fourth-highest in all of college basketball.

THE CHEF IS HOT
Guard Sean Pedulla has been dominant on both ends of the floor for Ole Miss as of late. Over the past six games, he is averaging 16.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game, shooting 48.5 percent from the floor.

“HE A FREE THROW”
Through the first 13 games, Jaylen Murray has gone 26-29 from the free throw line for a percentage of 89.7. Entering the game with Purdue, Murray had not missed a shot from the charity stripe, and was one of six players in all of college basketball to remain perfect. The Bronx native also connected on his first two free throws during the Purdue game to extend his consecutive made shots at 32 dating back to the 2023-24 season, tying Murray with Stefan Moody for the second-longest streak in school history, trailing only David Rhodes’ 37 during 1972.

I GOT ALL NUMBERS
The 2024-25 Ole Miss basketball roster boasts some serious career statistics. Seven players have scored over 1,000 points in their collegiate career, including Matthew Murrell (1,549), Sean Pedulla (1,421), Dre Davis (1,275), Jaemyn Brakefield (1,220), Jaylen Murray (1,167), Mikeal Brown-Jones (1,101), and Davon Barnes (1,012). The Rebels roster is one of two in the nation to feature seven players with over 1,000 career points (also Minnesota). Entering the season, the team possessed 8,735 career points, 3,062 rebounds, 1,346 assists, 596 steals, and 327 blocks.

SEASONED VETERANS
Featuring 10 seniors on the roster, Ole Miss returned the fourth-highest minutes-per-game figure among all “power-five” programs in the nation at 284.3, and the most in the SEC. In total, Ole Miss players have played in nearly 1,000 career collegiate games with over 500 starts. The Rebels are one of 18 programs in the nation that feature five or more players in at least their fifth year of college basketball.

PROGRAM POINT PRESIDENTS
Seniors Matthew Murrell and Jaemyn Brakefield have each surpassed the 1,000-point mark during their careers here in Oxford, and continue to climb the program leaderboard. Here’s a snapshot of where they lie among the career points list at Ole Miss:

11. Gerald Glass – 1,564
12. Don Kessinger – 1,553
13. Matthew Murrell – 1,549
14. Terence Davis – 1,512

32. Rahim Lockhart – 1,160
33. Ken Turner – 1,159
34. Jaemyn Brakefield – 1,142
35. Jack Marshall – 1,137

IT STILL MEANS MORE
The gauntlet of the SEC got even tougher this season with the addition of Oklahoma and Texas to the conference for the 2024-25 academic year. With 10 teams currently owning a spot in the national top-25 polls, including Ole Miss, the schedule for the Rebels is littered with big games, especially at home in the SJB Pavilion. Between January 22 and February 4, Ole Miss will host No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 2 Auburn, Texas, and No. 10 Kentucky.

NETWORKING
The 2024-25 NET Rankings made their debut on Monday, December 2 and Ole Miss has since climbed their way to No. 39 in the nation. Since the ranking’s first iteration at the conclusion of the 2018-19 season, their ranking of 21st on December 19 is the highest-ever NET Ranking for the Ole Miss program.

As of January 2, the entire SEC is ranked among the top 100, with 14 of the 16 programs sitting inside the top 50, seven in the top 25, and four in the top 10.

RECORD BOOK WRECKER
Senior guard Matthew Murrell enters his fifth season with Ole Miss and continues to put his name up and down the program record book. The Memphis native currently ranks 13th in school history in career points with 1,549, and fifth in both three-point shots made (230), and three-point attempts (653). A consistent member of the lineup for each of his seasons, Murrell recently entered the top-10 in both career minutes and games played. He currently sits in seventh with 3,754 minutes, just behind Chris Warren with 3,812, and has played in 130 games, tying him for seventh with Breein Tyree and just behind four players with 132.

Murrell has his eyes set on entering the top-10 career lists in two other categories as well, on the verge in: Career field goal attempts (Murrell at 1,276, 10th is Carlos Clark at 1,297), and career steals (Murrell at 143, 10th is Rahim Lockhart at 148).

• Bulldogs open SEC play at Ole Miss

Bulldogs open SEC play at Ole Miss

WHEN: Saturday, Noon ET.

WHERE Oxford, Mississippi

RECORDS: Georgia 12-1, Ole Miss 11-2

TV/RADIO: SEC Network (Richard Cross, play-by-play; Pat Bradley, analyst) Georgia Bulldog Radio Network: (Scott Howard, play-by-play; Chuck Dowdle, analyst)

Off to their best start to a season in 94 years, the Georgia Bulldogs are now set to begin to begin SEC conference play. They will do so on the road where they will take on the No. 24 ranked Ole Miss Rebels (Noon, SEC Network), a team that they’ve had their way with historically.

Georgia holds a 78-47 record versus the Rebels. However, only 27 of those wins have come while playing on the road in Oxford.

The Rebels will be just the start to a potentially tough opening month of conference play for White’s Bulldogs. Seven of Georgia’s eight games in the month will see them face ranked opponents, including the conference home opener on Tuesday against No. 10 Kentucky. The only unranked opponent, South Carolina, currently sports a 10-3 record.

“If you get caught looking ahead in this league this year, you’re putting yourself in peril,” Head coach Mike White said about back-to-back games against ranked opponents. “In my opinion, at least that’s that’s the way that that we’re operating. We’ve got our hands full (Saturday) with Ole Miss. It’s going be a really tough game for us, but a great opportunity.”

Georgia finds itself with a 1-1 record versus ranked opponents (an 80-69 loss to No. 8 Marquette, and a 66-63 win against St. John’s).

While Georgia does enter Saturday’s matchup riding high on a seven-game winning streak and is currently projected to be the No. 9 seed in Joe Lunardi’s most recent 64-team bracket projection; the Bulldogs’ most recent win didn’t come without a scare.

Last Saturday at Stegman Coliseum, Georgia found itself in a 17-point first-half hole versus South Carolina State. It took a 13-point second half from Tyrin Lawrence, the senior guard to help Georgia turn a 17-point deficit into a 79-72 win over the 6-9 Bulldog.

Lawrence’s 14 points on four of 10 shooting from the field finished joint-highest on the team for the Bulldogs with RJ Godfrey matching him on five of eight shooting. Yet, there wasn’t much to separate those two from the rest of their teammates on the scoring sheet.

Georgia finished with six different players with double-digit points in the come-from-behind win. This continues a committee approach to scoring for the Bulldogs.

As for the Rebels, they fell from 11 spots in the AP Poll following their 87-70 loss to Memphis. Despite Sean Pedulla finishing with 13 points on Saturday, which is just below his average of 14.7, the Rebels were no match for Memphis’ Colby Rogers. The Tigers’ senior guard finished with a team-best 28 points on 10 of 16 shooting from the field while knocking down six of his nine three-pointers.

Now as the Bulldogs are set to open conference play on the road, sophomore guard Silas Demary Jr. feels the team is “ready.”

“I mean, I just think seeing these guys every day in practice, the dedication guys have, just being in the gym every day, not slacking days,” Demary said. “Just being in the weight room with them, practicing with those guys, you know, going on lulls, where we might not play for six or seven days, seeing how everybody responds to just us, practicing longer, practicing harder.”

The Bulldogs are gearing up to kick off SEC play as they face off against Ole Miss this weekend. This highly anticipated matchup will be a test for both teams as they look to make a statement early in conference play.

The Bulldogs have had a strong start to the season, boasting a solid record and showing off their talent on both sides of the ball. With a tough SEC schedule ahead, they will need to bring their A-game against Ole Miss.

Ole Miss, on the other hand, is looking to bounce back after a tough loss in their last game. They will be hungry for a win as they defend their home turf against the Bulldogs.

This game is sure to be a battle from start to finish, with both teams leaving it all on the field. Fans can expect a thrilling matchup as these two SEC rivals go head to head.

Be sure to tune in and support the Bulldogs as they open SEC play at Ole Miss. It’s bound to be a game you won’t want to miss! #GoBulldogs #SECfootball

He chose Ole Miss over offers from Mississippi State, Arkansas, Kentucky, Colorado, Georgia tech, Louisville, Tulane and others.

“It was everything, honestly,” Thomas told Inside the Rebels on why he chose Ole Miss. “Getting to know the coaches, getting to know the school more kind of made me lean more toward them. It was the opportunity I will have going in, being able to compete and earn a spot. That was a big deal. It was the bond between me and the coaches. That was a big deal for me. There are just a lot of great people at Ole Miss and in Oxford.”

The 6-0, 171-pound Young is four-star prospect out of Lakeland (Fla.) High School. He is rated as the No. 32 safety in the nation, the No. 47 player from the talent-rich state of Florida and No. 328 nationally by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite index. He chose Ole Miss over offers from SEC programs Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M, as well as Colorado, USC, Washington, Oregon, Illinois and others.

“After prayer and talking with my family, I am shutting down my recruitment. I AM 100% COMMITTED TO OLE MISS,” Young said via social media in November.

Today, two future Ole Miss Rebels will showcase their skills on a national stage as they compete in the prestigious Under Armour All-American Game.

Wide receiver Brandon Buckhalter and defensive back Kamari Lassiter are both highly touted recruits who have committed to play for Ole Miss next season. Buckhalter, a dynamic playmaker with speed and agility, is sure to be a key contributor to the Rebels’ offense. Lassiter, known for his physicality and ball-hawking abilities, will be a force to be reckoned with in the secondary.

As they take the field today alongside some of the top high school football players in the country, Buckhalter and Lassiter will have the opportunity to prove why they were selected for this prestigious game. Rebel fans should keep a close eye on these two future stars as they represent Ole Miss in this showcase event.

Lane Kiffin Posts Support for Georgia in CFP Ahead of Ole Miss’ Bowl Game | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI - NOVEMBER 29: Lane Kiffin head coach of the Mississippi Rebels looks on during warm ups prior to the game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on November 29, 2024 in Oxford, Mississippi. (Photo by Wes Hale/Getty Images)

It’s no secret which team Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is rooting for in Thursday afternoon’s Sugar Bowl.

Kiffin offered a message of support to fellow SEC member Georgia ahead of their CFP quarterfinal game against Notre Dame.

Lane Kiffin @Lane_Kiffin

Good luck https://t.co/joYijzdnog

Kiffin has previously expressed frustration with the CFP Selection Committee for keeping SEC programs like Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss out of the 12-team playoff.

Ole Miss started out the season with a No. 6 preseason rating. The Rebels slipped out of playoff contention after recording three SEC losses including an upset by Kentucky.

Other SEC teams that missed out on the playoff have not found much success in their bowl games. Alabama lost to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl, while South Carolina suffered a defeat to Illinois in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.

Those losses haven’t stopped Kiffin and other members of the SEC from rallying around the snubbed teams.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said on Thursday that he “would hope there is interest” in changing the playoff format ahead of the 2025 season, per The Athletic’s Seth Emerson.

Kiffin has meanwhile been supporting the conference by shouting out other teams competing for a national title.

Georgia will hope Kiffin’s endorsement comes with better luck than it did for Tennessee. The Volunteers responded to Kiffin’s encouragement with a first-round blowout loss to Ohio State.

Kiffin’s endorsement of Texas went better. The Longhorns went on to defeat Arizona State in double overtime at the Peach Bowl while clinching a spot in the national semifinal.

Georgia is looking to claim the fourth and final spot in the quarterfinal with a win over Notre Dame. That would put them on track to take on Penn State, a team that has also received a shoutout from Kiffin, in next Thursday’s Orange Bowl.

Ole Miss may not have a playoff game to prepare for, but Kiffin’s team will look to represent the SEC with a victory over Duke in their own Gator Bowl on Thursday night.

Lane Kiffin, the head coach of Ole Miss, surprised many college football fans by publicly showing his support for Georgia in the College Football Playoff. This comes just days before Ole Miss is set to play in a bowl game, raising eyebrows among both supporters and critics.

Kiffin took to social media to express his support for the Bulldogs, praising their impressive season and wishing them luck in the upcoming playoff games. Many fans were taken aback by Kiffin’s unexpected endorsement of a rival team, especially so close to his own team’s important bowl game.

While some saw Kiffin’s gesture as a show of sportsmanship and respect for a fellow SEC team, others questioned his loyalty to Ole Miss and wondered how his players would react to his public support for Georgia. Regardless of the reactions, Kiffin’s post has certainly stirred up some controversy in the college football community.

As Ole Miss prepares for their bowl game, all eyes will be on Kiffin and his team to see how they respond to this unusual situation. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

• 2025 Gator Bowl prediction, odds, line: Duke vs. Ole Miss picks from college football expert on 74-54 run

2025 Gator Bowl prediction, odds, line: Duke vs. Ole Miss picks from college football expert on 74-54 run

A pair of 9-3 Power Four teams meet in the 2025 Gator Bowl as the No. 14 Ole Miss Rebels and the Duke Blue Devils battle on Thursday. Ole Miss had a case for the College Football Playoff field, but a late loss at Florida ultimately cost the Rebels. Duke, meanwhile, caught fire late in the season, winning and covering in its last three. Both teams were successful from a spread standpoint this season as Ole Miss went 7-5 against the number, while Duke was 7-3-2 ATS.

Kickoff has moved back 30 minutes to 8 p.m. ET at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville. The Rebels are favored by 17 points in the latest Ole Miss vs. Duke odds via SportsLine consensus, while the over/under is 50.5 points. Before locking in any any Duke vs. Ole Miss picks or 2025 Gator Bowl bets, you’ll want to see the college football predictions and betting advice from SportsLine’s Eric Cohen

Cohen, host of the weekly Early Edge College Football Picks Show on CBS Sports Network, is 74-54 on college football picks this season, returning more than $1,500 for $100 bettors. Anyone who followed his betting picks at sportsbooks or on betting apps is way up.

What you need to know about Ole Miss

The Rebels were hit with some key injuries late in the season to running back Henry Parrish Jr. and receiver Tre Harris. Parrish is out and the status of Harris isn’t certain for this one. Ole Miss will have star quarterback Jaxson Dart available, however, as he has decided to play despite his status as an NFL Draft prospect.

While Dart gives the Rebels a lift on offense, it was the defense that often carried Ole Miss this season. Ole Miss ranked second in the SEC in scoring defense (13.9 ppg) and key defenders such as linemen Walter Nolen and end Jared Ivey are expected to be on the field. See the best bet for this matchup here.

What you need to know about Duke

Manny Diaz’s squad was hot and cold in 2024. The Blue Devils opened the season with five straight wins, but then lost three of the next four. They wrapped up the year on a three-game winning streak, a run that included two upsets on the road. They made a huge splash in the transfer portal by landing coveted Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah, however the QB maneuvering will leave them shorthanded in this matchup.

Starting quarterback Maalik Murphy and backup Grayson Loftis have both departed via the transfer, leaving Henry Belin IV as the starter in this matchup. The Blue Devils also lost leading rusher Star Thomas to the portal. Captain and leading receiver Jordan Moore remains, however, and he’ll likely be a focal point on Thursday. See who to back here.

How to make Duke vs. Ole Miss picks

Cohen has studied this matchup from every angle and has found a critical 10-2 betting trend that has him locked in on a best bet. You can only see his pick at SportsLine.
