  • Ongoing transfer saga takes another twist as Wolves now in ‘pole position’ for centre-back after talks elsewhere break down

Wolves are braced for a busy end to the January transfer window. The Old Gold still want to make more signings and could be close to securing one of their longest targets.

Plunged into the relegation zone after losing at home to Arsenal last weekend, Vitor Pereira is very much up against it as he looks to retain the side’s top-flight status.

There are no easy fixtures in the Premier League so having a wealth of options is important. Unfortunately, Wolves aren’t blessed with quality in depth, so new signings are needed before next week’s transfer Deadline Day.

Pereira has already confirmed he wants a new centre-back and midfielder. Consequently, Wolves have made an offer to sign Soungoutou Magassa from Monaco and remain in discussions for a defender.

Kevin Danso to Wolves back on

Despite wanting to sign Kevin Danso from RC Lens for most of the window, Wolves have yet to get a deal across the line.

The Old Gold looked to be well out of the chase for the Austrian after other clubs entered the mix. Both Aston Villa and Juventus have expressed an interest in signing Danso.

However, even though Danso has been in talks to join Juventus, according to Sebastien Denis, those negotiations have now broken down.

Although there is clearly still a lot of work to be done before an agreement can be reached, Wolves are once again viewed as the team in ‘pole position’ to secure the 26-year-old’s signature.

    Loan likeliest option

Working out Danso’s immediate future is top priority for RC Lens, who understandably don’t want the saga dragging for much longer.

While all options remain open, Danso leaving France on a six-month loan before moving on a permanent in the summer is the likeliest outcome.

If Wolves can sign the 26-year-old, Pereira’s chances of surviving the drop will be significantly boosted.

Not only that but at the end of the season, should the Old Gold overcome the threat of relegation, they’ll be in a much better position to negotiate Danso’s permanent transfer.

During his four years at RC Lens, the centre-back, who has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, has directly contributed to 10 goals in 128 games in all competitions.

The transfer saga surrounding the future of a highly sought-after centre-back has taken another unexpected twist, with Wolves now reportedly in “pole position” to secure his signature.

After talks with other clubs broke down, it seems that the Premier League side has emerged as the frontrunners in the race to sign the talented defender. The player’s future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks, with a number of top clubs expressing interest in acquiring his services.

Despite initial reports suggesting that a deal with another club was imminent, it now looks like Wolves have stolen a march on their rivals and are close to securing a deal for the centre-back. This latest development has added another layer of drama to what has already been a protracted transfer saga.

Fans of the club will no doubt be eager to see the deal finalized and the player donning the famous gold and black shirt. With the new Premier League season fast approaching, time is of the essence, and Wolves will be hoping to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.

As the saga continues to unfold, all eyes will be on Wolves to see if they can successfully navigate the complexities of the transfer market and secure the services of the highly-rated centre-back. Stay tuned for further updates as the story develops.

  • Brandi Glanville shakes uncontrollably in ‘horrifying’ footage amid ongoing health crisis

Brandi Glanville has shared disturbing footage of herself shaking while receiving treatment amid her ongoing health woes.

The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 52, left her fans ‘horrified’ after sharing the clip to X, formerly Twitter, on Friday.

Looking worse for wear with no makeup on and her hair unkempt, Brandi, while visibly shaking from what appeared to be a lymphatic drainage machine, said, ‘Wow. It’s like, a f***ing thing.’

She continued, ‘I will shake for the rest of my life if this thing gets out of my body.’

In the post’s caption, she also mentioned having previously suffered from black mold poisoning.

The footage shocked Glanville’s followers, with one writing, ‘Girl I’m absolutely horrified for you. Sending prayers and well wishes.’

A second wrote, ‘Oh you poor thing! That’s awful! Should you be in a hospital maybe? Sending warm wishes and prayers.’

Another wrote, ‘WHAAAAAAATTT?!? That’s you?!? Brandi you look totally changed. This is terrifying what the F**K.’

Brandi Glanville has shared disturbing footage of herself shaking while receiving treatment amid her ongoing health woes

Glanville recently revealed that Dr. Terry Dubrow has been helping her figure out the cause of her facial disfigurement.

The star took to X on Wednesday, sharing that the Botched surgeon, 66, had taken four biopsies from her face and neck.

‘Yes guys @DrDubrow took 4 tiny biopsies from my face and neck so we can continue to get better,’ she wrote, adding, ‘[easy peasy] no pain. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Now we wait.’

Glanville claims to have spent over $70,000 trying to figure out what has caused her health woes.

The star feared that her abnormal facial swelling could be due to ‘parasites’, but Dubrow didn’t think so, and publicly offered to help treat her in December.

Dubrow threw cold water on Glanville’s ‘parasite’ theory, and instead thought her misshapen skin and sunken cheeks were more likely the result of an infection.

The plastic surgeon previously emphasized that Glanville’s condition could be a ‘ticking time bomb,’ and he urged her to get help from her doctors as soon as possible in an interview with TMZ.

Glanville sparked fan concern when she shared a photo in which she looked unrecognizable, particularly due to her deflated, mottled cheeks.

Months earlier, she had the opposite issue when she shared a photo of herself with significantly swollen cheeks.

Dubrow added that, in his opinion, it’s most important to get a doctor to give her a clear diagnosis so that she can treat the root problem.

The cosmetic surgeon — who is married to Real Housewives Of Orange County star Heather Dubrow — said he was ‘concerned’ that Glanville could be suffering from either an ‘infectious process’ or a ‘foreign-body reaction to something she’s had injected.’

Dubrow also clarified that Glanville isn’t at ‘fault’ for not being certain about what is plaguing her, and he instead blamed her doctor for not having a solid diagnosis and treatment plan.

However, he seemed fairly certain that whatever was going on with her is ‘not a parasite’ and is ‘not from something she ate.’

Instead, he suggested the issue is ‘something that got into her bloodstream and seeded some foreign body.’

Brandi Glanville, former star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” has shared a disturbing video on social media showing her shaking uncontrollably amid her ongoing health crisis.

In the footage, the reality TV personality can be seen visibly trembling as she explains that she has been dealing with a health issue that has left her feeling weak and unable to control her body movements. Glanville describes the experience as “horrifying” and expresses her frustration at not being able to find a solution to her mysterious ailment.

Fans and followers of Glanville have expressed their concern and support for her during this difficult time, with many urging her to seek medical help and find answers to her health struggles.

This latest development comes after Glanville previously revealed that she had been experiencing symptoms such as extreme fatigue, dizziness, and memory loss, which have greatly impacted her daily life.

We can only hope that Brandi Glanville gets the help and support she needs to overcome her health crisis and find relief from her troubling symptoms. Our thoughts are with her during this challenging time.

  • Grammys after-parties are canceled amid ongoing LA wildfire disaster: ‘Inappropriate’

Music’s night of nights is set to be a little quieter this year.

While the 67th annual Grammy Awards will go ahead as scheduled on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, pre and post-party celebrations have been canceled due to the ongoing wildfires in the city.

“It feels inappropriate to go for a booze up during these times,” a source in the music industry told Daily Mail.

“It’s such a relief that the ceremony will take place but anything more than that just wouldn’t feel right,” the insider continued.

Universal Music Group (UMG) first announced that all its Grammy-related events would not take place as the blazes destroyed the neighborhoods of the Pacific Palisades and Altadena. UMG canceled their Artist Showcase and afterparty.

A spokesperson for the company stated: “We have canceled all of our Grammy-related events, including the Artist Showcase and After-Grammy Party and will redirect the resources that would have been used for those events to assist those affected by the wildfires.”

Following UMG’s decision, Sony Music followed suit.

After sharing the cancellation of their Grammy Week events, they announced its parent company, Sony Group Corporation, was pledging $5 million to emergency relief and long-term recovery efforts.

Warner Music Group (WMG), in partnership with the Blavatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund, also shared they donated an initial $1 million to support local fire relief initiatives.

A WMG rep said that their efforts are focused on helping both first responders and those in the music industry affected by the fires.

BMG added: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce BMG will no longer host its Pre-Grammy Party on Tuesday, January 28.”

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected,” their statement continued, “and we extend our deepest gratitude to the firefighters and first responders in Los Angeles County who are working tirelessly to contain the fires.”

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, and Tammy Hurt, chair of the academy’s board of trustees, explained their plans for Grammy Week in a statement to the public earlier this week.

“We understand how devastating this past week has been on this city and its people. This is our home, it’s home to thousands of music professionals, and many of us have been negatively impacted,” Mason begun.

“After thoughtful consideration and multiple assurances from state and local elected leaders, public safety agencies and with support from our incredible artist community, we have decided to go ahead with the Grammy telecast and some select events.”

He continued: “This year’s show will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours.”

The Recording Academy also revised its schedule, focusing on relief efforts, including having the telecast serve as a platform to raise funds for wildfire relief and showcase resilience.

But some parties are still set to take place, per the Daily Mail.

Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party and the MusiCares gala are scheduled per usual, but each organizer has included charitable components to support victims of the fires.

The ongoing wildfire disaster in Los Angeles has forced the cancellation of several Grammys after-parties, with organizers deeming it “inappropriate” to hold celebratory events while the city is facing such devastation.

The wildfires, which have been raging for days, have already forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes and have caused widespread destruction across the region. In light of this crisis, the decision was made to cancel the after-parties that were originally planned to take place following the Grammy Awards ceremony.

Many artists and industry insiders have expressed their support for the decision, acknowledging that it would be insensitive to host lavish parties while the city is in the midst of a natural disaster. Instead, efforts are being made to raise awareness and funds for those affected by the wildfires, with many celebrities using their platforms to encourage donations and assistance for those in need.

While the cancellation of the after-parties may be disappointing for some, it serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing the well-being of those affected by the wildfires and coming together as a community to support one another during this challenging time.

  • Why ongoing J.T. Miller trade saga overshadowed Canucks’ solid win: 3 takeaways

VANCOUVER, B.C. — Let’s be honest: The credibly reported J.T. Miller trade rumours overshadowed the Vancouver Canucks’ 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.

In some ways, that’s a perfect distillation of what this season has been.

Saturday night should’ve been an impressive Vancouver victory. A heroic win to break a losing streak against the team that eliminated it from the Stanley Cup playoffs last spring and demolished it when the teams met earlier this season.

The win could’ve been viewed as a sign, perhaps, that this season might be about to get on track. That the Canucks might have some juice to work with yet.

Instead, as Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman fleshed out a report about a now-scuttled Miller trade with the New York Rangers that got close enough that Miller wasn’t necessarily expected to play Saturday until the framework of the deal fell through, Saturday night’s victory felt more like a dead cat bounce.

Given that Friedman added that Miller’s camp has permission to talk to multiple teams about a possible deal involving the veteran pivot who has a full no-movement clause, Saturday’s impressive Canucks victory felt more like a fun last ride for a once-promising core that seems bound for detonation, as opposed to a momentum-building pivot point during an inconsistent season.

It was, nonetheless, a fun game in a vacuum. Vancouver, maddeningly inconsistent as always, put together one of its most impressive 20-minute stretches of the campaign to build a 3-0 lead over the red-hot Oilers in the first period.

Edmonton battled back impressively in the second, with Leon Draisaitl scoring a couple of gorgeous, impossible goals.

Then the Canucks sat on their lead and outplayed Edmonton to put it away, with Conor Garland aggravating Connor McDavid in the dying seconds to the point of cross-checking Garland in the head — a sequence that caused McDavid to be assessed a match penalty and will likely result in supplementary discipline for the Oilers’ superstar.

Here are three takeaways from a bittersweet Vancouver victory.

    The dominant opening 20

The Canucks were amid their worst run of form this season — losers of five of their past six games, including two blowout losses back-to-back against the Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings — and the Oilers, on form, had performed like the best team in hockey since about mid-November.

The rumours around the Oilers involve adding players, like defender John Klingberg, before the trade deadline. The rumours around the Canucks involve selling core pieces, mostly to shake up the dynamics in the dressing room.

These are two teams that, going into Saturday night’s contest, appeared to be heading in wildly different directions. The script seemed set for an Oilers pummelling of the moribund Canucks.

That’s just never how hockey works, however. Typically, the higher your degree of certainty about how a game will and should go, the more likely you are to be wildly incorrect.

So it was Saturday night that the embattled Canucks put together their best and most dynamic 20 minutes of hockey against this imposing Oilers side.

Of course it was Miller — who else? — who led the charge, dominating in the faceoff circle and racking up points as Vancouver built a 3-0 first-period lead while controlling play ably at five-on-five. Its power play cashed in twice — both goals were credited to Quinn Hughes — and what a difference that makes, but the Canucks also secured a five-on-five goal from Danton Heinen and generated meaningful five-on-five chances throughout the first frame.

It was as if the script flipped on so much of what’s become typical for this team across the past month. The club’s work rate was there, but it also looked connected. The Canucks were able to generate off the rush, actual scoring chances too. Their five-on-four play looked dangerous, in contrast with the dreck Canucks fans have been served for so much of this season.

There aren’t necessarily any bigger-picture takeaways from the club’s first-period performance. We’ve seen previously that the Canucks can manufacture stretches of impressive play, even full games’ worth. If anything, it just further underlined the frustrating inconsistency that has come to define this team.

Where was a period like that, which might have warded off the oft-rumoured detonation of this core group, back when it could’ve mattered?

There’s no such thing as a bad angle when you’re Draisaitl

When the Oilers battled back to make it an interesting game, a pair of incredible, geometrically improbable shots from Draisaitl altered the contest in the second period.

On both shots, the majority of Draisaitl’s body was below the goal line when he released the puck. His ability to make this shot automatically, though, with force and accuracy, is nothing short of incredible. And an absolute nightmare for NHL goaltenders.

There’s a lesson in Draisaitl’s unique, consistent dominance that’s worth bearing in mind given the conversation around the Canucks. Draisaitl wasn’t even drafted as a goal scorer primarily — he was widely viewed as a big, pass-first playmaker. That he’s become a consistent 50-goal scorer with a mastery of bad-angle shots, of a sort we rarely see from anybody else, is a testament to his skill level and talent, for sure, but also to his work rate.

Over time, Draisaitl and Conner McDavid have done more than just fashion a productive offensive partnership. They’ve also pushed each other to higher levels, and the Oilers as a team, too.

That’s what it takes to be an elite team in the NHL, which seems instructive.

Even as Hughes has ascended to an otherworldly plane for Vancouver over the past 18 months, it feels more like he has left the rest of Vancouver’s core behind, as opposed to being pushed by a teammate (or two) matching his level of performance and output.

    Edmonton ran out of gas

Credit the Canucks: Though the Oilers made it interesting in the second period — and on a first-period shift in which they generated two of their best opportunities of the game — Vancouver made the third period an uneventful one.

In truth, the Oilers ran out of gas. Playing their third game in four nights across two time zones, they looked like a shell of themselves at full sprint. They were sloppy early and lacking in their usual spark as they chased the game in the final frame.

This is clearly an Oilers side with its eyes on the bigger prize. It showed. McDavid and Draisaitl were loaded up together in the second period, but the Oilers didn’t ride them the way they have on occasion over the past several seasons. Heck, they didn’t even log the full two minutes on Edmonton’s power-play opportunities.

On certain third-period shifts, the fatigue was abundantly clear. Not unlike how Vancouver looked late against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night, Edmonton ran out of gas as Vancouver salted this one away.

(Photo of the Oilers’ Adam Henrique and Stuart Skinner defending against J.T. Miller: Derek Cain / Getty Images)

The ongoing J.T. Miller trade saga has been dominating headlines and overshadowing the Vancouver Canucks’ solid win. Here are 3 takeaways from the game:

    1. J.T. Miller’s uncertain future: The trade rumors surrounding J.T. Miller have been swirling for weeks, with multiple teams reportedly interested in acquiring the talented forward. While Miller has been a key player for the Canucks, his potential departure has cast a shadow over the team’s recent success.

    2. Canucks’ resilience: Despite the distractions off the ice, the Canucks showed resilience and pulled off a solid win against their opponents. The team’s ability to stay focused and perform well under pressure speaks to their determination and skill.

    3. Depth stepping up: With the trade deadline looming, the Canucks’ depth players have been stepping up and making significant contributions to the team. Players who may have been overshadowed by Miller’s presence are now getting a chance to shine and prove their worth.

Overall, while the ongoing J.T. Miller trade saga may be dominating headlines, the Canucks’ solid win and the performances of their depth players should not be overlooked. The team’s ability to stay focused and perform well in the midst of uncertainty bodes well for their future success.

  • A list of Hollywood’s awards season dates with ongoing wildfires

Hollywood’s awards season has all but come to a rare halt as the wildfires continue to disrupt life and work in the Los Angeles area. There are near daily updates from the Hollywood guilds and organizations that put on awards shows as the industry navigates the ongoing crisis.

Here’s an overview of the major upcoming awards shows, from the Oscars to the Grammys, including updated dates for nominations.

    Academy Award nominations

    Jan. 23

The Oscar nominations have been twice-delayed — they were initially slated for Jan. 17, then Jan. 19, before being delayed again. The delay in the announcement accommodates an extended voting deadline, as many Academy members have been affected by the wildfires.

The nominations will be announced via a “virtual presentation,” eschewing press on site.

    Grammy Awards

    Feb. 2

By virtue of announcing their nominations back in November, the Grammys’ schedule has largely been unaffected by the wildfires. Some auxiliary events have been canceled, though — Universal Music Group nixed all related events, including its Artist Showcase and after-party, saying it would redirect those resources to wildfire recovery aid.

The Grammys will be broadcast live on CBS; a host has yet to be announced.

    Critics Choice Awards

    Feb. 7

Originally slated for Jan. 12, the awards have been delayed twice. They will take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, only miles from the Pacific Palisades neighborhood where fire was raging.

The awards will be broadcast live on E!, hosted by Chelsea Handler.

    Producers and Directors Guild awards

    Feb. 8

These are two separate, untelevised awards shows. Both are still set to be held in Los Angeles on the same night. The winner of the PGA’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures has six times in the past seven years gone on to win the best picture Oscar. Over the past two decades, the winner of the DGA award has nearly always also triumphed at the Oscars.

    Writers Guild awards

    Feb. 15

The Writers Guild of America gives awards to adapted and original feature film screenplays, which often align with Oscar nominees and winners, documentaries and television shows and films. It’s an untelevised event.

    BAFTAs

    Feb. 16

The British Academy Film Awards — officially called the EE BAFTA Film Awards — are Britain’s equivalent of Hollywood’s Academy Awards. Nominations were unaffected by the fires and announced this week. (While the awards are in London, nominees come from all over and even many British celebrities call LA home.)

Airing on BBC in the U.K. and BritBox in North America, David Tennant will host.

    Spirit Awards

    Feb. 22

The Film Independent Spirit Awards spotlight films made for budgets of $30 million or less, meaning some years it lines up with the Oscar frontrunners (“Everything Everywhere All At Once”) and other years (“Oppenheimer”) it doesn’t.

The show streams on YouTube, and will be hosted by Aidy Bryant.

    SAG Awards

    Feb. 23

The actors guild went ahead with announcing nominees, though pivoted to a press release instead of a live announcement in the early days of the fires. The SAG Awards are arguably the most telling Oscar forecast there is. Their picks don’t always align exactly with those of the film academy, but they often come very close to mirroring them. The last three best ensemble winners — “Oppenheimer,” “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “CODA” — all went on to win best picture at the Academy Awards.

The show will stream live on Netflix, hosted by Kristen Bell.

    Academy Awards

    March 2

The marquee event and capper of Hollywood’s awards season will proceed as scheduled from Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre, which was briefly imperiled by the quickly extinguished Sunset Fire. The film academy did delay the Scientific and Technical Awards from Feb. 18 (a rescheduled date has not been announced) and canceled altogether its annual nominees luncheon, an untelevised mainstay of the social calendar known for its mingling and “class photo.”

The Oscars will be broadcast live on ABC, hosted by Conan O’Brien.

As awards season approaches in Hollywood, the ongoing wildfires in California are causing concern and uncertainty for many in the industry. Here is a list of some key dates for the upcoming awards season, along with information about how the wildfires may impact them:

    – November 18, 2021: The Hollywood Film Awards are set to take place at the Beverly Hilton. However, with air quality concerns and potential evacuations, the event may be postponed or canceled.

    – December 12, 2021: The Critics’ Choice Awards are scheduled to be held at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel. The wildfires may affect transportation and attendance for this event.

    – January 9, 2022: The Golden Globe Awards ceremony is planned to be held at the Beverly Hilton. As of now, no changes have been announced, but the situation is fluid and could change.

    – January 24, 2022: The Oscar nominations are set to be announced. The wildfires may impact the availability of voters and the ability to hold press events leading up to the announcement.

    – February 27, 2022: The 94th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The wildfires could affect the red carpet, attendance, and the overall logistics of the event.

As the situation with the wildfires continues to evolve, it is important for those in the industry to stay informed and be prepared for potential changes to these awards season events. Our thoughts are with all those affected by the wildfires, and we hope for a swift resolution to this crisis.

“It’s another massive match. I assume it will be on a big court,” Fearnley said. “Obviously he’s No. 2 in the world. He’s playing unbelievable. I’m aware that all these matches that I’m getting are extremely challenging.”

In the second round at Wimbledon last year, Fearnley faced 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic on Centre Court and took a set from the Serbian. Earlier this week, the 23-year-old faced home favourite Nick Kyrgios in an evening match in front of the Australian crowd.

A year ago Fearnley was sitting in class at Texas Christian University, still playing college tennis. As recently as October 2023, his PIF ATP Ranking was No. 1,893. So all of these experiences are a massive help, according to coach Juan Martin, who also competed for TCU.

“We always discuss that match with Djokovic at Wimbledon, because it was such a big moment and you get to live so many experiences in one. Home crowd, Wimbledon — his favourite tournament as a British player — Centre Court against Djokovic,” Martin said. “[You have] pressure just seeing your mom out there, seeing your dad out there, buddies that flew from Spain, from the U.S., just to watch him play.

“It’s just a massive stage, so you get to experience a lot. But he’s still quite fresh, quite new here as well. Every match is a new experience, and we are learning what to do and what not to do as well.”

    It All Adds Up

An example came last year at Wimbledon. It was the most special moment of Fearnley’s young career, but also an educational one. Although he played well on court, there were takeaways of what he should change off court.

“Something that we learned there was not spending too much time in the club. Everything was nice. He was a crowd favourite because he’s British. He was a new guy on the block and you just get excited, and you want to be there from 7 a.m. until they close at 2 a.m. That’s just very draining and something that he noticed,” Martin said. “You rarely see Sinner, you rarely see Alcaraz… They are there for like 30 minutes a day. And so just managing energy, that’s massive.

“You can’t spend 10 hours a day at the club. That was a mistake that we did in the past, and now we’re very on it.”

Fearnley’s team shares a philosophy. They do not worry about making mistakes. They worry about not learning from them.

In the second round of the Australian Open, Fearnley defeated Arthur Cazaux in front of a raucous Court 6 crowd. An added layer was the courtside bar, leading to a memorable atmosphere, which the Briton was happy to compete in, but unprepared for.

“In the future I’ll definitely make an effort to go and see the court first because it did kind of catch me a little bit off guard,” Fearnley said. “The Kyrgios match was louder, but I was a bit more distant, so it didn’t kind of feel as in my face. Whereas, this one it feels like you’re face-to-face, and it was pretty loud.”

Since the start of June, Fearnley has done a lot of winning, capturing four ATP Challenger Tour titles and surging into the world’s Top 100. But Martin is aware that the small margins by which he has found the form of his life could turn things in the other direction, too.

“You’re around these [players], and you start noticing how important little details are, and that’s the difference. One point can win you or lose you a match, and I don’t know. Not being properly hydrated can be the difference in that point, and that’s your match, just because you didn’t hydrate properly,” Martin said. “So I think that he’s learning how to take care of those little things and being professional, being organised, taking care of nutrition, his strength and conditioning, pre-match activation. Just everything has to be done a certain way. Obviously there’s flexibility, but you just need to tick boxes every day. And I think he’s learning how to do that.”

Fearnley has another big challenge ahead of him in two-time Nitto ATP Finals champion Zverev, whose game he admires “immensely”. The Briton watched live Zverev’s match against Cameron Norrie at Wimbledon last year.

“I’d never really seen him play live, and I was, like, ‘He’s an amazing tennis player’. You kind of don’t really get a grasp of it until you actually see it live,” Fearnley said. “He was incredible, and obviously he’s still pretty young actually, and he’s been seven, eight years at the top of the game. Yeah, incredible tennis player, and I’m really excited that I’ll get a chance to play one of the biggest names in tennis.”

Jacob Fearnley may be a rising star on the ATP Tour, but his education is far from over. Despite his success on the court, Fearnley knows that in order to reach his full potential, he must continue to learn and grow both on and off the court.

From honing his skills with top coaches to studying the strategies of his opponents, Fearnley is constantly seeking new ways to improve his game. But his education doesn’t stop there. Fearnley also understands the importance of mental toughness, sportsmanship, and overall well-being in order to succeed in the competitive world of professional tennis.

As he navigates the ups and downs of the ATP Tour, Fearnley remains committed to his ongoing education. Whether it’s through training sessions, matches, or personal development, Fearnley is dedicated to becoming the best player and person he can be.

Follow along as Jacob Fearnley continues his journey of growth and learning on the ATP Tour, because the education of a tennis player is never truly complete.

Metallica's James Hetfield Reflected On Cliff Burton's Ongoing Influence (2024 In Review)

Metallica had a top 24 story of Sept 2024 on September 27th, which marked the 38th anniversary of the death of legendary Metallica bassist Cliff Burton. To mark the occasion, frontman James Hetfield reflected on Cliff in a new episode of The Metallica Report.

James shared that Burton still has a massive influence on the band, even after all of these years. He said, “Hetfield says, “Cliff still lives in all of us. The way he lives in me is I get to channel, you know, ‘Cliff, what would be really cool right here?’

“And I do – I do hold him in such high regard that I ask for his help still. And I challenge myself, ‘Would Cliff like this?’ That, to me, is a pretty high standard. We already have high standards for ourselves, but you know, if I could impress Cliff, it was a good day.”

Metallica’s James Hetfield Reflected On Cliff Burton’s Ongoing Influence (2024 In Review)

As Metallica celebrates their 42nd year as a band, frontman James Hetfield took a moment to reflect on the ongoing influence of late bassist Cliff Burton. Burton tragically passed away in a bus accident in 1986, but his impact on the band and the music world as a whole continues to be felt.

In a recent interview with antiMusic.com, Hetfield spoke about how Burton’s musicality and unique approach to playing the bass guitar still inspire him and the rest of the band. “Cliff was such a talented musician and brought a whole new dimension to our music,” Hetfield said. “His melodic bass lines and creative songwriting were ahead of their time and continue to influence us to this day.”

Hetfield also shared how Burton’s fearless attitude and willingness to push boundaries have shaped Metallica’s approach to creating music. “Cliff was never afraid to try new things and experiment with different sounds,” Hetfield explained. “His fearlessness and creativity have encouraged us to continue to push ourselves as musicians and never settle for mediocrity.”

As Metallica prepares to release their 12th studio album later this year, Hetfield made it clear that Burton’s spirit will always be present in the band’s music. “Cliff may no longer be with us in body, but his presence is felt in every note we play,” Hetfield said. “His legacy lives on in our music, and we will continue to honor him with every song we write and perform.”

Fans can expect to hear echoes of Burton’s influence in Metallica’s upcoming album, as the band pays tribute to their fallen brother and musical visionary. Burton may be gone, but his impact on Metallica and the world of music will never be forgotten.

Deadly severe weather outbreak ongoing as tornadoes rip through South

PORTER, Tex. — A deadly severe weather outbreak swept across the South Saturday evening, spawning multiple tornadoes across three states and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

One person died as one of those tornadoes swept through Texas’ Brazoria County, south of Houston, according to Manvel Mayor Dan Davis. Additional damage reports came in from Louisiana and Mississippi.

A three-hour radar loop. Warning boxes are color coded: Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are in yellow, Tornado Warnings are in red, Tornado Warnings with confirmed tornado are in purple, Flash Flood Warnings are in green and Flash Flood Emergencies are in pink.

A rare Particularly Dangerous Situation Tornado Watch was issued, and dozens of Tornado Warnings have wailed across the South into Saturday evening, with hours of dangerous weather still to go.

Multiple tornadoes cause damage near Houston on Saturday

Multiple tornadoes struck in southeastern Texas on the outskirts of Houston earlier in the day Saturday, causing significant damage to towns both north and south of the nation’s fourth-largest city.

DRONE VIDEO SHOWS TORNADO DAMAGE AFTER DEADLY STORMS RIP THROUGH HOUSTON AREA

Drone video showed several buildings suffering damage in Porter Heights north of Houston.

Spotters reported multiple mobile homes were hit, and the twister caused significant damage to a brick home and the East Montgomery Fire Department building, according to the National Weather Service office in Houston.

“There have been no reported injuries to our firehouse team at 154, and all pending calls have been cleared,” officials at the fire station wrote in a Facebook post.

In an update posted on Facebook, Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough said at least 15 people were trapped in homes after the storms, but they have been rescued.

FOX 26 Houston reporter Shelby Rose walked through one of the neighborhoods that suffered a direct strike from the tornado, finding some homes damaged or even destroyed.

One family had nearly finished constructing a new home, but now it lay destroyed amid the tornadic ruins.

“This family was just about to move inside,” Rose said. “(The mother) is now in tears to see what once would have been her brand-new home, is now rubble.”

One killed in Brazoria County, Texas

Another report showed significant damage near the towns of Alvin and Liverpool, to the south of Houston.

Multiple homes were destroyed, and substation debris was seen on State Highway 35.

Mayor Dan Davis of nearby Manvel said on X that he received confirmation that at least one person was killed by the storm as it tore through Brazoria County. He didn’t provide any further details about the death.

A family in nearby Liverpool had to scramble to take shelter as the tornado raced to their property.

Jose Ramirez told FOX 26 Houston reporter Jonathan Mejia he heard loud rain and thunder and ran back in to get his wife and dogs to run to a more sturdy shelter.

“When he came back out, he saw all this,” Mejia said, gesturing to the debris and damage scattered through the yard. “He tells me this was all reduced to nothing in a matter of seconds.”

Video taken near the Houston suburb of Katy showed a funnel hovering above the ground earlier in the day. Spotters reported damage to a mobile home park near Noel Lane.

HOW YOU SHOULD PREPARE FOR A TORNADO

Trailers flipped in Mississippi as tornado swept through

More damage came in from southern Mississippi where a large tornado rolled through the town of Bude, tossing multiple trailer homes, according to FOX Weather Storm Trackers Corey Gerken and Brandon Copic.

“There were a couple mobile homes that literally were flipped — upended both ways,” Copic said. “And thankfully no injuries from what I saw. But there were injuries further down.  A woman had minor injuries from my understanding. Thankfully, nothing catastrophic from what I’m being told.”

Port Arthur just missed a strong tornado

The tornado that swept near Liverpool would go on a more than four-hour, 120-mile journey along Texas’ Gulf Coast, tracking just north of Galveston and nearly making a direct hit on the town of Port Arthur.

The National Weather Service issued multiple Tornado Warnings on the twister, even denoting it as their more dire “particularly dangerous situation” type warning.

For several minutes, it appeared the heart of Port Arthur and its nearly 50,000 people would be in the crosshairs of the tornado, but luckily the storm veered just to the south, tracking over Sabine Lake instead.

“Overall, we have had minor property damage, downed power lines, and 2 reported minor injuries from debris,” Capt. Crystal Holmes of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office told FOX Weather. “One of our citizens homes was destroyed by the tornado.”

Severe weather threat moves east Sunday

The dangerous storms will march east by Sunday, with the worst weather expected in a swath that stretches from Virginia to Florida. Tornadoes, damaging wind and hail are possible with any severe storms that develop in this zone.

In today’s world, it is more important than ever to engage students in authentic and meaningful learning experiences that not only develop their academic skills but also nurture their passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship. Sustainable project-based learning offers a powerful way to achieve this goal by allowing students to explore real-world issues, work collaboratively, and make a positive impact on their communities.

Here are five steps for designing authentic classroom experiences in grades 5-12 that incorporate sustainable project-based learning:

    Step 1: Identify a Relevant, Real-World Issue
Choose a sustainability-related topic that is meaningful and relevant to your students, such as waste reduction, renewable energy, or local food systems. Consider involving students in the process of selecting the issue to ensure their buy-in and engagement.

Step 2: Set Clear Learning Objectives
Clearly define the learning objectives for the project, including academic content goals, as well as skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Align these objectives with grade-level standards to ensure that the project is rigorous and meaningful.

Step 3: Design Authentic Tasks and Assessments
Create authentic tasks that challenge students to apply their knowledge and skills to address the sustainability issue. Consider incorporating real-world challenges, such as conducting research, designing solutions, or implementing a community action project. Develop assessments that measure both academic content knowledge and skills development.

Step 4: Provide Opportunities for Collaboration and Reflection
Encourage students to work collaboratively in teams to research, plan, and implement their projects. Provide structured opportunities for reflection, such as journaling, group discussions, or presentations, to help students make connections between their learning and real-world experiences.

Step 5: Foster a Culture of Sustainability
Create a classroom environment that values sustainability and encourages students to think critically about their impact on the environment. Celebrate their successes, and provide opportunities for them to share their projects with a wider audience, such as through presentations, exhibitions, or community events.

By following these five steps, educators can create authentic and engaging project-based learning experiences that empower students to become active, informed, and responsible citizens who are committed to building a more sustainable future.
