  • ‘Phasmophobia’ Releases 2025 Roadmap, Including New Character Options and a Terrifying New Tool

Phasmophobia is one game that keeps giving back to its players. Not only is it one of the most terrifying horror games you can experience with your buddies, but it just keeps getting better. Alongside its successful release on consoles, Kinetic Games has pushed out an updated 2025 roadmap for Phasmophobia, detailing plenty of new changes coming to the game to keep things feeling fresh. Don’t worry, more holiday events are coming down the line, but I think I’m most excited about the Player Character refresh.

Alongside Plenty of Updates, ‘Phasmophobia’ Also Hits an Impressive Sales Number on Consoles

Phasmophobia is about to become a lot spookier, according to a recent press release from Kinetic Games. Chronicle is the main seller this time around, and it’s going to completely change how players take note of the ghosts within these homes. From the press release:

    Videos by VICE

“The first major update coming to the definitive horror game is Chronicle. This will bring changes to the journal and rework how Ghost Hunters can capture evidence. The Photos tab will be replaced with a Media tab featuring three new sections. Photos, Videos, and Sound Recordings. With any photographic, audio, or visual evidence logged in the corresponding pages.”

“The game’s media quality system is being replaced too. With a player’s first ‘capture’ of any media type labeled as ‘Unique’. These will reward lots of cash and XP at the end of a contract, while ‘duplicates’ will reward much less.”

“Chronicle will also introduce the Sound Recorder, a brand new piece of equipment designed to record unique paranormal sounds. Players brave enough to do so will be able to listen back to their recordings in the updated journal, letting them discover helpful clues that may previously have been drowned out by terrified screams.”

I already know exactly which one of my friends is getting the Sound Recorder. Mainly because I need to hear them scream when they finally catch something on it. Alongside Chronicle, we’ll also finally see the often-mentioned Character Overhaul in Phasmophobia. I’ve grown so used to the same crew that it’s going to be jarring for a bit. But I can’t wait to finally see some new blood join the fray.

Plus, with Phasmophobia finally hitting consoles, it’s moved into an impressive sales number. Over 20 million copies sold on PC, and over 2 million copies sold on consoles.

Oh Yeah, We’re Getting Some Map Updates in ‘Phasmophobia’, as Well

Alongside the main updates, we’ll also be seeing some updates to some of our favorite Phasmophobia maps. Bleasdale Farmhouse and Grafton Farmhouse are getting major updates, along with the tease of a new, smaller map. That’s on top of even more Holiday events, like the Winter’s Jest event that terrified us this year. According to the press release:

“Outdoorsy hunters will be pleased to know there are two map reworks on the way this year. Bleasdale Farmhouse will receive a complete overhaul. With visual enhancements and a complete redesign of the layout, including new locations for ghosts to haunt. Players will be able to explore a garden just outside the main living room. Complete with ghost rooms, as well as revamped areas to explore. Grafton Farmhouse will also receive an update later this year.”

There’s even more Phasmophobia to come. With a player character overhaul, a new small map, and updates for the Easter, Halloween, and Holiday seasons set to arrive in 2025. Plans for 2026 are already underway too. With house map reworks, even more new maps, and Horror 2.0 in the works.

“We’re beyond excited for the new updates and reworks coming to Phasmophobia this year,” said Daniel Knight (Dknighter), Director of Kinetic Games and Lead Developer of Phasmophobia. “Our early access period so far has given us a fantastic opportunity to listen to our players, and the big changes we’re making are a direct reflection of the feedback we’re seeing. We’re really proud of the direction Phasmophobia is going in, thanks in no small part to our amazing community, and we can’t wait to see what everyone thinks of some of the surprises in store for 2025.”

I Can’t Wait To Dive in for More Wild Events

Phasmophobia is one of those games that I can’t help but keep returning to. No matter if I’m playing it in VR or non-VR mode, it’s just a fantastic way to spend some time with your friends. This roadmap makes it even more exciting. The Player Character Overhaul, combined with the new Journal, is going to change how every haunt progresses. We’ve learned how these ghosts work over the years, and it’s going to take a minute to learn their new tricks.

I can’t deny though; I want to find out what Phasmophobia‘s Horror 2.0 is going to be all about. While we may need to wait a little longer to learn more about that feature, this new roadmap is giving me more than enough to anticipate.

Exciting news for fans of the popular horror game, “Phasmophobia”! The developers have just released their roadmap for 2025, and it promises some thrilling new content for players to sink their teeth into.

One of the most anticipated additions to the game is the introduction of new character options. Players will now have the ability to customize their characters with a wider range of clothing, accessories, and hairstyles, allowing for even more personalization and immersion into the world of ghost hunting.

But that’s not all – the roadmap also includes the unveiling of a terrifying new tool that will send shivers down the spines of even the bravest players. Details are scarce at the moment, but rumors suggest that this new tool will significantly ramp up the fear factor and provide an even more intense and heart-pounding gaming experience.

With these exciting updates on the horizon, it looks like “Phasmophobia” is set to continue delivering spine-chilling thrills and scares for years to come. Keep your flashlights handy and your wits about you – you never know what might be lurking in the shadows.

  • Suns Notes: Booker, Butler, Trade Options, Durant

Devin Booker was named an All-Star in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024, but unless he’s a last-minute injury replacement, the Suns guard won’t be headed to San Francisco for this year’s event.

Addressing his omission after Friday morning’s shootaround, Booker told reporters that he would’ve loved to be selected, but added that there were many deserving players and that he’s “definitely not going to complain about taking a week to regroup with the family,” writes Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.

While Booker’s shooting numbers (.444/.341/.893) are down this year, his averages of 25.5 points and 6.7 assists per game are above his career rates. Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer said on Wednesday that Booker is “clearly in our minds an All-Star” and teammate Kevin Durant agreed.

Durant also suggested that All-Star rosters should be expanded from 12 to 15 players to reflect the size of actual NBA rosters and to better reward deserving players: “So many great players going out there impacting their team in a positive way that are being snubbed. They’ll always be snubs every year, but I think we should add three more.”

Asked about the idea, Booker wasn’t opposed to it and pointed to a handful of players he felt were snubbed this season.

“I think there are enough talented guys out here, like I said, that are deserving,” Booker said. “You look at Kyrie (Irving), Norman Powell, those guys are having unbelievable, efficient years, and winning games. On the East, I’m sure there are guys too like Trae (Young) and LaMelo (Ball) that are putting up just unheard numbers. The more talent in there, the better.”

We have more on the Suns:

    • While the mutual interest between the Suns and Heat forward Jimmy Butler has been reported ad nauseam in recent weeks, Phoenix isn’t taking a “Butler or bust” approach to the trade deadline, says John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 (Twitter links). According to Gambadoro, the front office is looking at more than 20 potential trade targets and the odds are in favor of the Suns making one or more deadline deals, even if they don’t end up landing Butler.
    • Although the Suns have no shortage of potential directions at the trade deadline, it remains safe to assume stars Durant and Booker aren’t going anywhere. Within an in-depth story on the situation in Phoenix, Ramona Shelburne and Bobby Marks of ESPN (Insider link) say that teams who have called to ask about Durant have been rebuffed. That’s also been the case for the clubs “bold enough to inquire” on Booker, who has never given indication he’d leave Phoenix to chase a title elsewhere, sources tell Shelburne and Marks.
    • With Durant nearing the 30,000-point threshold and on the verge of surpassing Julius Erving for eighth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, Tim MacMahon of ESPN spoke to many of the forward’s current and former teammates about what makes the former MVP such an elite offensive player.

In this post, we will be discussing some notable updates and rumors surrounding the Phoenix Suns, including updates on Devin Booker and Jimmy Butler, potential trade options for the team, and the possibility of signing Kevin Durant.

Devin Booker has been a standout player for the Suns this season, averaging 25.6 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game. Despite his impressive performance, there have been rumors of tension between Booker and the Suns’ front office. However, Booker has expressed his commitment to the team and is focused on helping them succeed.

On the other hand, there have been reports linking Jimmy Butler to the Suns. Butler, who is currently with the Miami Heat, is set to become a free agent this offseason. The Suns are reportedly interested in adding him to their roster, as he could provide a much-needed boost to their defense and leadership.

In terms of potential trade options, the Suns have been rumored to be exploring the market for a stretch four or a point guard. Names like Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic and Lonzo Ball of the New Orleans Pelicans have been mentioned as possible trade targets for the Suns.

Lastly, there has been speculation about the Suns making a push to sign Kevin Durant in free agency. Durant, who is currently with the Brooklyn Nets, will also be a free agent this offseason. While it remains to be seen if the Suns can lure Durant to Phoenix, his addition would undoubtedly make them a more formidable team in the Western Conference.

Overall, the Suns have some intriguing possibilities to consider as they look to improve their roster and compete for a playoff spot in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates on the team’s offseason plans.

Market Whales and Their Recent Bets on DJT Options – Trump Media & Technology (NASDAQ:DJT)

In the world of finance, there are certain investors known as “market whales” who have the power to move markets with their large bets. Recently, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding these market whales and their interest in options on Trump Media & Technology (NASDAQ:DJT).

DJT, the new media and technology company founded by former President Donald Trump, has been making waves in the market since its IPO earlier this year. With its focus on conservative media and technology, DJT has garnered a lot of attention from both investors and the general public.

Market whales, who are typically institutional investors or high-net-worth individuals, have been seen making big bets on DJT options in recent weeks. Some market whales have been buying call options on DJT, indicating a positive outlook on the stock and its potential for growth. Others have been buying put options, suggesting a more pessimistic view on DJT’s future prospects.

  • New January 2025 streaming options: The Weeknd, ‘Babygirl,’ ‘SNL’ music

Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell starring in the wedding comedy “You’re Cordially Invited” and The Weeknd’s album “Hurry Up Tomorrow” are some of the new television, films, music and games headed to a device near you.

Also among the streaming offerings worth your time as selected by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists: Director Robert Zemeckis’ “Here” with Tom Hanks, Sterling K. Brown returns to TV as a Secret Service agent and there’s a sequel to “Citizen Sleeper,” the surprise gaming hit of 2022.

NEW MOVIES TO STREAM JAN. 27-FEB. 2

    – Rival weddings collide in “You’re Cordially Invited,” a comedy about double-booked destination nuptials starring Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell. The film, streaming Thursday on Prime Video, unites a pair of stars from different realms of comedy in Witherspoon, who’s planning a wedding for her sister (Meredith Hagner), and Ferrell, whose daughter (Geraldine Viswanathan) is getting married. In the Nicholas Stoller-directed movie, the two families share a Georgia island wedding venue.

Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson star in Halina Reijn’s “Babygirl” (on premium video-on-demand beginning Tuesday), a kinky and darkly comic erotic thriller from A24. Kidman stars as a married Manhattan chief executive who falls under the intense sway of a new intern (Dickinson), leading to some memorable sex games of manipulation and control. In my review, I praised “Babygirl” as “a sometimes campy, frequently entertaining modern update to the erotically charged movies of the 1990s, like ‘Basic Instinct’ and ‘9 ½ Weeks.’”

    — Robert Zemeckis’ “Here” has already lived many lives since opening in theaters last October. It was roundly dismissed by critics at release, only to continue to pick up defenders as the year came to a close. “Here” gets a second chance Thursday on Netflix. The film, starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, fixes the camera, for seemingly one long take, on one plot of land, from the time of dinosaurs up until modern day. In his review, AP’s Mark Kennedy wrote, “It’s not so strange after a while — so bursting with life is each shot and vignette — but there’s a gnawing feeling that we’re in some sort of film experiment, like testing an audience on how long they’ll watch old security camera footage.”

NEW MUSIC TO STREAM JAN. 27-FEB. 2

    — Live from your Peacock subscription, it’s Saturday night! On Tuesday — and premiering the day before at 8 p.m. ET on NBC — is the release of a new “Saturday Night Live” special, “Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music.” The three-hour program, directed by Grammy and Academy Award-winner Questlove and Emmy Award winner Oz Rodriguez, will spotlight memorable “SNL” music performances across the the show’s incredible run. It will feature sketches, performances and over 50 interview subjects, including Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Mick Jagger, Dua Lipa, Darryl DMC McDaniels, Tom Morello, Kacey Musgraves, Olivia Rodrigo, Paul Simon, Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake.

    — It is the end of an era, and no doubt, one heck of a closer. On Friday, The Weeknd will release the final album in his record-breaking trilogy that began with 2020’s “After Hours” and 2022’s “Dawn FM.” It reaches its coda with “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” So, what can listeners expect from one of the biggest names in pop — and the only artist to have 25 songs with 1 billion streams on Spotify? The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, is keeping the details close to his chest. But if this collection of songs comes close to something like “Blinding Lights,” well, expect them to stick around for a while.

NEW SHOWS TO STREAM JAN. 27-FEB. 2

    — Since “This Is Us” aired its series finale in 2022, Sterling K. Brown has had voice roles in animated shows and has concentrated on film work. He is back on TV with a new series called “Paradise” also created by Dan Fogelman. Brown, also an executive producer, plays a Secret Service agent for the U.S. President (James Marsden) and discovers a murder that leads to shocking revelations. The first three episodes will debut on Hulu on Tuesday (with a linear rollout of the premiere on Hulu and FX). It will then drop weekly on the streaming service.

    — Noah Centineo’s “The Recruit” returns to Netflix with a second season after a long delay due in part to the Hollywood strikes. The actor plays a lawyer with a new job at the CIA who quickly finds himself embroiled in international politics. The show is suspenseful, compelling and funny. Centineo still has the charisma that charmed viewers of the “To All the Boys” movies and it carries over for an older demo with this series. “The Recruit” season two premieres Thursday on Netflix.

    — The true crime docuseries “Scamanda” unravels the web of lies of Amanda Riley, a woman who faked having cancer and collected sympathy, money and gifts while she did it. Journalist Charlie Webster first told Riley’s story in a podcast of the same name and has teamed up with ABC News to bring it to TV. The series begins airing Thursday on ABC and also streams on Hulu next day.

    NEW VIDEO GAMES TO PLAY

    — Citizen Sleeper, a haunting survival adventure set aboard a decrepit space station, became a surprise hit in 2022 by mixing clever gameplay with a caustic take on very-late-stage capitalism. Designer Gareth Damian Martin is now expanding on that world with Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector. Once again, you’re an android on the run from the corporation that built you, but now you have a rickety spaceship at your command. That gives you the freedom to bounce around the asteroids of the Starward Belt, where you can search for replacement parts, recruit crew members and take on high-risk contracts — as long as you can keep your own mechanical body from glitching out. Liftoff begins Friday on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

  • Utah Hockey Club sets fan vote on three name options

The Utah Hockey Club is going another route with another fan survey after a popular choice for a permanent nickname was ruled out.

Utah Yeti was one of the final six choices in the initial fan vote for the NHL’s newest team, but KSL and The Athletic reported last week that a trademark bid was rejected. Smith Entertainment Group, which owns the team, said it’s no longer pursuing that nickname.

“An SEG executive shared that it explored every avenue to make Yeti work but that YETI Coolers, LLC was ultimately unwilling to agree to a co-existence agreement,” the team said in a statement.

Instead, fans attending the next four home games, starting Wednesday night, will vote on three choices:

    • Utah Hockey Club
    • Utah Mammoth
    • Utah Wasatch

The Utah Hockey Club is giving fans the opportunity to help choose the team’s new name! After a rebranding effort, the club has narrowed down the options to three choices:

    1. Utah Grizzlies
    2. Salt Lake City Storm
    3. Rocky Mountain Renegades

Fans can cast their vote on the team’s website or social media channels. The winning name will be announced at the season opener, so be sure to show your support and help shape the future of Utah hockey! #UtahHockeyClub #FanVote #NewName

  • Hedge-Fund Options Bet Surged Most Since 2020 in Tech Tumult

(Bloomberg) — There was a surprising winner from the market carnage that unfolded on Monday: A popular options strategy that bets on calm.

    Most Read from Bloomberg

The dispersion trade — which buys options in single stocks and sells contracts on an index — had its best day since 2020 as AI fears swept the market and sank some of the biggest US companies.

That’s because the strategy, which is beloved by all manner of hedge funds and banks, effectively amounts to a bet on an index remaining calmer than its individual stocks. Monday’s rout was so pronounced in tech and limited elsewhere that correlations between shares stayed low and index volatility remained contained — an ideal scenario for dispersion.

Once a niche play for hedge funds, dispersion has gone mainstream in recent years as banks packaged it into easy-to-access swaps for their clients. Versions of the strategy from JPMorgan Chase & Co., Citigroup Inc. and BNP Paribas SA all had their best day in nearly five years. The Cboe S&P 500 Dispersion Index gained the most since 2022.

“What looked like an indiscriminate ‘get out of equities’ scenario overnight has evolved into a market condition where correlations across stocks is even lower than it was last week,” Michael Purves, chief executive officer at Tallbacken Capital Advisors, wrote in a note. “This explains why the move in the VIX is tepid.”

Nvidia Corp. and Broadcom Inc. both dropped 17% on Monday while the S&P 500 fell only 1.5% and the Cboe Volatility Index, or VIX, ended the day just three points higher. That’s a stark contrast from the selloff spurred by hawkish Federal Reserve expectations in mid-December, or by the carry trade unwind in August. Dispersion trades lost money in both instances.

The trade sells options on a broad equity gauge like the S&P 500 while buying similar derivatives on its members like Apple Inc. or Nvidia. The idea is to ride the relatively higher demand for index hedges from investors seeking portfolio insurance, which means they typically pay more for protection at the benchmark level than it costs a trader at the stock level.

While dispersion comes in different flavors, Monday’s performance is likely to bolster the defensive credentials of the strategy, which have come under doubt in recent months on fears of crowding. The implied correlation across the S&P 500 has plummeted since Covid to near the lowest in Bloomberg data going back to 2011, meaning the entry point for the trade has become less attractive.

Hedge-Fund Options Bet Surged Most Since 2020 in Tech Tumult

In the midst of the recent tech tumult, hedge funds have been making some bold options bets that have surged to levels not seen since 2020. With the tech sector experiencing significant volatility, these funds are taking advantage of the uncertainty to potentially profit from market swings.

According to recent data, hedge funds have been increasing their options bets on tech stocks at a rapid pace. This surge in options activity suggests that these funds are anticipating further turbulence in the tech sector and are positioning themselves accordingly.

While options trading can be risky, hedge funds are known for their sophisticated strategies and ability to navigate volatile markets. By making these high-stakes bets, they are potentially able to capitalize on market movements and generate significant profits.

As the tech sector continues to face challenges and uncertainties, hedge funds will likely remain active in the options market, looking for opportunities to profit from the turmoil. Only time will tell if these bets will pay off, but one thing is for certain – hedge funds are not shying away from taking risks in the current market environment.
