Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and there’s a ton of films available on streaming to get you in a romantic mood. Whether it’s a comedy, a blood-soaked horror slasher, or an emotional drama, there’s something for every kind of person to enjoy leading into this heart-filled holiday. However, if you like your love stories a bit more on the tragic side, Max has you covered in its upcoming February lineup. Their diverse catalog of films will include the 2018 version of A Star is Born.
Bradley Cooper‘s directorial debut will be singing its way to Max in February and take part in the streamer’s curated list of films simply titled “Valentine’s Day”. A Star is Born will be alongside other modern classics like Mama Mia, The Notebook and Crazy Rich Asians. Despite being the third remake of the 1937 film, when it was released in 2018, A Star is Born was a massive box office and critical hit. It made over $436 million worldwide on a $36 million budget, while it has a certified-fresh rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Its audience score is also glowing at 80%. This led A Star is Born to be nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It only won one Oscar for Best Original Song, but “Shallows” is one of the best pieces of music to come along in that category in a very long time.
This reimagining of A Star is Born follows mega superstar singer Jackson Maine (Cooper) after he crosses paths with a struggling artist named Ally (Lady Gaga). Quickly falling in love with her, Jackson gives her the opportunity of a lifetime, letting Ally pursue her dreams as a singer and being a star of her own. However, as Ally’s career skyrockets, Jackson takes a nosedive due to some unresolved personal demons. Their relationship has reached an impasse that they may never recover from.
There was a lot stacked against this film. It was the fourth time this story was told in the last century. This was all the while Cooper was an unproven director and Gaga’s acting credits were mainly smaller roles on television up to that point. However, in every phase, A Star is Born proved all those doubts wrong. This is a visually raw and emotional remake that puts Cooper and Gaga’s masterful chemistry on full display. From their irresistible voices to the amazing music to the dark undertones of the story, this remains a relevant romantic tragedy almost a decade later.
The film also joins Gaga’s other hard-R musical blockbuster, Joker: Folie á Deux, on Max. The latter of which she plays the villainous Harley Quinn. Tune in to watch A Star is Born when it debuts on Max.

We can turn our life into a musical once again.
The next Oscar ceremony is still more than a month away, which means nothing can be better than revisiting previous years’ big award winners — especially since one of them is now heading to a free streaming service.
Damien Chazelle’s 2016 hit musical La La Land starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling never quite left its viewers’ shattered hearts ever since its theatrical release and later a triumphant win at the Oscars. Well, soon you might want to relive the whole drama when the movie finally lands on Tubi.
The film that garnered all critical and commercial success back in 2017 will be all yours to watch and rewatch starting from February 1 when it’s set to arrive on the free streaming platform Tubi.
La La Land follows rising actress Mia and jazz-obsessed pianist Sebastian who, despite their striking differences, give their love story a chance that later on leads to a heartbreaking, yet very real-life-coded finale.
The movie earned an impressive amount of $506 million dollars against its modest initial budget of only $30 million, also receiving numerous accolades and securing a score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie’s stunning success was wrapped up by the Oscar ceremony that concluded the awards season back in 2017, making La La Land a big triumphant with a total of six statuettes.
The movie almost made it to becoming the best film of the year — well, sort of, since some chaos backstage provoked a huge misunderstanding when La La Land, first named Best Picture, was quickly deprived of the award initially meant for Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight.
As the ceremony’s executives explained later, the card for Best Picture somehow turned out to be a duplicate for the Best Actress category, a bit earlier won by La La Land’s Emma Stone.
Exciting news for fans of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling! The critically acclaimed and Oscar-winning film “La La Land” will soon be available to watch for free. The movie, which captured hearts and took home six Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Actress for Stone, will be added to a popular streaming platform’s library next month.
“La La Land” follows the love story of Mia, an aspiring actress, and Sebastian, a jazz musician, as they navigate the highs and lows of pursuing their dreams in Los Angeles. The film’s stunning visuals, catchy music, and heartfelt performances by Stone and Gosling have made it a beloved favorite among audiences.
So mark your calendars and get ready to relive the magic of “La La Land” from the comfort of your own home. Don’t miss this chance to watch one of the most celebrated films of recent years for free. Get your popcorn ready and prepare to be swept away by the enchanting world of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling’s on-screen chemistry.

Quentin Tarantino’s career is one defined by bold stories, vivacious dialogue, and a deep respect for film history, which includes helping one actor after an injury. Debuting with Reservoir Dogs in 1992, the director quickly became known for his unique approach to cinema by combining genres, breaking narrative conventions, and often pushing the boundaries of violence and language. Tarantino’s influence has shaped both mainstream Hollywood and independent cinema, cementing him as one of the most distinctive voices in the film industry with everything from Pulp Fiction (1994) to Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (2019).
Tarantino’s dedication to his craft is not just evident in his films, but also in his deep admiration for the work of others. Throughout his career, he has consistently acknowledged the filmmakers and actors who have influenced him, often revitalizing their careers with his distinctive touch. His ability to draw the best performances from seasoned actors and bring forgotten stars into the limelight has made him an invaluable figure in Hollywood. His ability to connect with those who share his passion for cinema has led to some of the most unforgettable collaborations of his career.
For Academy Award-winning actor Michelle Yeoh, Tarantino’s influence came at a pivotal moment in her career. Having made her name in Hong Kong cinema in such films as Tai Chi Master, Yeoh faced challenges in transitioning to mainstream Hollywood after a serious accident on the set of The Stunt Woman (1996), which left her in a neck brace and doubts about an action genre future. She would ultimately make her Hollywood debut in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies and has since starred in everything from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Star Trek.
During an interview on The Graham Norton Show, Yeoh reflected on her conversation with Quentin Tarantino during her recovery from her injury. It began as a casual conversation between the two and soon turned into a catalyst for Yeoh’s renewed passion for acting. Tarantino went frame-by-frame discussing her action sequences and exploring the technical aspects of her performances, which led Yeoh to reinvigorate her love for action films. Check out her reflection in the quotes and video below:
No, I had a really bad accident. I wanted to pay homage to the stunt people, so we made a movie called The Stunt Woman. And, in shooting that, I was pushed off a fly over, and we had done the wide shot where I landed, and it was all good. Then, we wanted to do a closeup … I did not anticipate the push was so hard and I tumbled over and nose dived. All I remember was, my head got jammed in a box and my legs came from behind, and I heard this [snap] in my back. I flipped over, and I was in the hospital. I had a full cast on.
At that point, I was thinking maybe I should just rethink this whole action thing, maybe it’s time to take a step back and maybe do something else. It was at that point when Quentin came to town… So, I’m sitting in the living room, with my neck brace and all that, very steady. I see this huge guy come bounding down the stairs.
He picks up a pillow, throws it on the ground, and literally just sits at my feet and starts to talk about my movies and what inspired him. Going frame for frame into the first action sequence that I had ever done, like going through a pane of glass and all that, and so you know, as I spoke with him, I realized, and I started getting very excited… I realized it’s true when you love something you can’t just give up on it, so I have Quentin to thank for that and, because he brought it all back to a realization, it’s like, be smart. Don’t give up. Just find a nice way and a proper way of doing it.
Tarantino’s support came at a critical time in Yeoh’s career, and its impact reverberated far beyond that moment. His encouragement not only helped her overcome doubts but also paved the way for her eventual return to major Hollywood productions. Over the last three decades, she has appeared in over 40 films, earning recognition for her performances in such films as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Crazy Rich Asians (2018), and her first Academy Award win for Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022), with her most recent performances being in Wicked (2024) and Star Trek: Section 31 (2025).

Michelle Yeoh’s exceptional martial arts skills have produced some of the most memorable fight scenes in cinema history.
Interestingly, in later years, Tarantino almost cast Yeoh in Kill Bill (2003), but ultimately decided otherwise. Despite this, Tarantino’s support still played a major role in reshaping her career. The director’s faith in her abilities revitalized her passion for pursuing action films and elaborate characters. Quentin Tarantino’s influence on Michelle Yeoh underscores a recurring theme in his work, which is his knack for revitalizing careers, steering actors towards new paths, and encouraging them to take on unexpected, challenging roles that spotlight their range, though for Yeoh, this wasn’t just a return to Hollywood, it was a chance to redefine herself.

Netflix has added Max: Fury Road, a movie the critics called “an eruption of craziness”, “barking” and “awe-inspiring”.
It scored 97% on the Tomatometer and when the 2016 awards season drew to a close it had bagged no less than six Oscars, the biggest haul at the ceremony. It felt like creator and director George Miller had punched a hole through cinema screens with Mad Max: Fury Road, taking it in an entirely different direction since Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome thirty years previously. He’d put the spotlight on two powerful central characters and created a post-apocalyptic world that was simultaneously terrifying and mesmerizing. And now it’s crash-landed on Netflix in the US and the UK.
The fourth in Miller’s action-packed series was set years after the collapse of what we would recognize as civilization, with the tyrant Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) forcing survivors of the apocalypse into slavery inside his desert fortress, The Citadel. His five young wives are trophies to him, so he’s enraged when they escape, helped by warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron). She forges an alliance with the solitary, one-time captive Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) and, as Joe gives chase, they flee at speed across the scorching Wasteland in the massive, armored roadtrain, The War Rig.
Mad Max: Fury Road
The combination of a new Max, in the shape of Hardy, and Theron’s iron-fisted Furiosa, created a grudging respect on screen that worked perfectly alongside the chaos of the film. Theron also staked her claim to being one of the best women action actors around: Atomic Blonde followed (a sequel is due next year), as did three Fast And Furious installments and The Old Guard is still on Netflix in both the US and the UK. They all allowed her to kick ass in what became her trademark style.
Their respective performances were just part of the bigger picture. The film’s relentless quality, its pounding action and ferocious electronic music, all on the biggest of scales, meant that audiences felt as if they’d been battered over the head.
In the best possible way. That sense of exhaustion and its assault on the senses made for a massively entertaining experience, as did its high production values and indelible images. Those thrash metal guitarists, the War Rig and the then-emerging Nicholas Hoult turned one of the craziest movie franchises going into one of the most memorable and spectacular.
Nearly ten years later, its power remains intact. Post-apocalyptic settings have become inevitable regulars on our screens — the possibilities are seemingly endless — but there’s never been one that totally equals Miller’s Fury Road. It’s a near-impossible act to follow.
Mad Max: Fury Road is now on Netflix in the US and UK. The Old Guard is on Netflix in the US and UK.
Netflix has just added a new movie to its ever-expanding library, and it’s already making waves in the film industry. The critically acclaimed movie, which has won six Oscars and holds an impressive 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is sure to captivate audiences with its awe-inspiring storytelling and breathtaking visuals.
This latest addition to Netflix’s lineup is a must-watch for any movie lover who appreciates top-tier filmmaking. With a star-studded cast and a gripping plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this movie is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who watch it.
Don’t miss out on the chance to experience this cinematic masterpiece from the comfort of your own home. Grab some popcorn, dim the lights, and prepare to be amazed by this six-time Oscar-winning sensation, now streaming on Netflix.
