  • LVMH’s Bernard Arnault ousts Larry Ellison as the world’s 4th-richest person after gaining $15 billion in one day

Bernard Arnault, the founder and CEO of LVMH Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton, has become about $14 billion richer already in 2025, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

He leapfrogged Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison on Thursday to take fourth place on Bloomberg’s rich list with an estimated $190 billion fortune, adding $15 billion to his net worth in just one day.

The luxury tycoon has gained more wealth this year than Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who was up nearly $12 billion at Thursday’s market close, and the “Donald of Dubai” Hussain Sajwani, up around $10 billion.

Zuckerberg and Musk are the next-biggest gainers. The Meta and Tesla CEOs have added around $9 billion and $7 billion to their respective fortunes in just over two weeks, respectively.

Arnault’s net worth soared on Thursday as LVMH stock surged 9% to close at its highest price since September. Arnault owns about 48% of the luxury conglomerate, which houses around 75 brands, including Tiffany & Co, Dom Perignon, and Sephora.

The shares jumped on hopes of a rebound in luxury demand after rival Richemont — the owner of brands like Cartier and Chlo — reported record quarterly sales with around 20% growth across Europe, the Americas, Japan, and the Middle East and Africa.

Consumer appetite for pricey products came roaring back after the pandemic as people resumed traveling and shopping again. But the luxury business has struggled more recently as brisk inflation, higher interest rates, and economic fears have dampened demand even among well-heeled buyers.

The group benefited from the buzz around artificial intelligence, the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cuts, an improved US economic outlook, and hopes that Donald Trump’s planned tax cuts and deregulation as president will boost corporate profits.

LVMH’s Bernard Arnault Takes Over Larry Ellison as the World’s 4th-Richest Person with $15 Billion Gain in a Day

In a stunning turn of events, Bernard Arnault, the chairman and CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, has surpassed Larry Ellison, the co-founder and former CEO of Oracle Corporation, to become the world’s fourth-richest person.

Arnault’s net worth soared by an astonishing $15 billion in just one day, thanks to a surge in LVMH’s stock price following a strong quarterly earnings report. This massive increase in wealth propelled him past Ellison, who has long been a fixture in the top ranks of the world’s wealthiest individuals.

Arnault’s rise in the rankings is a testament to his business acumen and the success of LVMH, the luxury goods conglomerate he has built over the years. With a portfolio of brands that includes Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Moët & Chandon, Arnault has solidified his position as one of the most powerful figures in the fashion and luxury industry.

As Arnault takes his place among the elite few at the top of the global wealth pyramid, the world watches in awe at his meteoric rise and the shifting sands of fortune in the ultra-competitive world of billionaires.

  • Keys ousts Rybakina in Melbourne; sets quarterfinal meeting with Svitolina

Continuing her hot start to the season, No.19 seed Madison Keys of the United States moved into the Australian Open quarterfinals for the fourth time in her career by grinding out a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 victory over No.6 seed Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan.

Australian Open: Scores | Schedule | Draws

Keys shook off a second-set lull to topple 2023 Australian Open finalist Rybakina in 1 hour and 49 minutes, moving ahead 3-2 in their head-to-head. Keys is now a win away from reaching her third Australian Open semifinal, having made the final four here in 2015 and 2022.

“Obviously pretty good first set, and I think I finished the third set really well,” Keys said in press. “There are some things that I can take and learn from the middle of the match, but overall, really happy with how I was able to finish and close out that match.”

Keys will next take on No.28 seed Elina Svitolina in a quarterfinal showdown. Svitolina came back from a double-break down in the first set to roll past Veronika Kudermetova 6-4, 6-1 in Rod Laver Arena on Monday.

Keys has a narrow 3-2 head-to-head lead over Svitolina. Their most recent meeting came almost exactly three years ago, also in Australia: Keys beat Svitolina in the first round of the WTA 250 event at Adelaide in 2022, then went all the way to the title.

Keys’ winning streak extended: Keys did it again in Adelaide this year, winning the WTA 500 title in that city a week ago. The American is now on a nine-match winning streak, and she is the tour leader in match-wins so far this year (overall win-loss record of 10-1 in 2025).

The 29-year-old Keys brought her sparkling form into her marquee match against 2022 Wimbledon champion Rybakina. The 2017 US Open finalist out-winnered Rybakina by 12 to nine in the first set, and she swatted away the lone break point she faced in the opener.

Obviously there would be many momentum shifts in a match between two big hitters, and Rybakina took complete charge in the second set. The decisive third set was very much up for grabs as well through 3-3.

But Keys reclaimed her top form from there, creaming massive returns to stymie Rybakina. A return winner gave Keys the pivotal break for a 4-3 lead, and she slammed her 27th winner of the day to convert her second match point and reach her 11th Grand Slam quarterfinal.

“At 3-3 [in the third set], I made a pretty conscious decision to really try to take advantage of anything that I got as early as I could in the point,” Keys said. “I felt like from that moment on I really was able to just kind of dictate and run away with the last set.”

This was Keys’ first Top 10 win at a Grand Slam since she notched back-to-back victories over Jessica Pegula and Marketa Vondrousova to make the 2023 US Open semifinals.

Surging Svitolina: Former World No.3 Svitolina, meanwhile, continues to rack up strong Grand Slam results. She is into her 12th career Grand Slam quarterfinal, and her first quarterfinal at the Australian Open since 2019.

Her Slam successes have not dwindled since her return from maternity leave in 2023 either. This is Svitolina’s fourth Slam quarterfinal since she gave birth to daughter Skai in 2022.

Svitolina reached back-to-back Australian Open quarterfinals in 2018 and 2019. She came close to making another quarterfinal Down Under last year, but she retired in her fourth-round match against Linda Noskova due to a back injury.

The 30-year-old has gone one further this year, during a fortnight which has already been historic. With her second-round win over Caroline Dolehide, Svitolina became the first Ukrainian player of any gender in the Open Era to post 100 main-draw wins at Grand Slam events.

“All the four matches that I played here, I’m really happy with my fitness,” Svitolina said afterwards. “I’m really happy with the way I’ve been handling tough physical matches that I had. Yeah, so far so good.”

It was a tricky start for Svitolina on Monday, as powerful hitting by former World No.9 Kudermetova gave the unseeded player a 4-1, double-break advantage. Kudermetova, by the way, had won both of their previous meetings, each time in three sets.

However, Svitolina found some of her best shots — including stunning angles and exceptional passes — to reel off five straight games and snatch the one-set lead. Kudermetova, meanwhile, had two visits from the physio in the latter stages of the first set.

Behind heavier returns, Svitolina took full command in the second set. A pristine volley gave the Ukrainian a break for 3-1, and she eased to an 83-minute win from there. Svitolina converted five of her nine break points on the day.

“It was tricky today at the beginning,” Svitolina said. “But I’m very proud of myself I could find my way.”

In a stunning upset at the Australian Open, Madison Keys defeated Elena Rybakina to advance to the quarterfinals. Keys, the 2017 US Open finalist, showed her power and precision on the court as she ousted the 7th seed Rybakina in straight sets.

Keys will now face off against Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals, setting up what is sure to be an exciting matchup between two top-ranked players. Svitolina, the 4th seed, has been in top form at this year’s Australian Open and will be a tough opponent for Keys.

Both players will be looking to secure a spot in the semifinals and continue their pursuit of the coveted Grand Slam title. Tennis fans can expect a thrilling showdown between Keys and Svitolina as they battle it out on the courts of Melbourne Park. Stay tuned for all the action and updates from this exciting quarterfinal clash.

  • Jessica Tisch ousts dozens of NYPD bosses in shocking purge

Jessica Tisch ousts dozens of NYPD bosses in shocking purge

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch ousted dozens of NYPD bosses in a shocking Saturday purge, beginning with the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau, a week after The Post revealed that top cop Jeffrey Maddrey was allegedly trading overtime for sex at police headquarters.

Deputy Chief Chris Morello, the No. 2 boss at the famed watchdog bureau whose mission is to weed out bad cops, was removed from his post, paperwork obtained by The Post shows.

This comes a week after IAB’s top boss, Chief of Internal Affairs Miguel Iglesias, was ejected the day of the Dec. 21 expose in The Post.

Inspector Joseph Profeta, who was head of IAB’s Group 1, was booted Saturday to Patrol Borough Brooklyn North, the documents show. The group investigates allegations regarding NYPD brass with the rank of captain or above.

“Tisch means business,” a high-ranking source said. “She’s cleaning up the mess and putting the department back on track.”

The moves were made because of a “lack of oversight” by IAB, the source said.

Inspector Michael Ricciardi of IAB Special Ops was also ousted and sent to Patrol Borough Manhattan North, the orders show.

Another dozen IAB bosses, ranging from lieutenants to sergeants, were sent packing to far-flung precincts across the city, the documents show.

Six members of Maddrey’s office — five detectives and one police officer — were also booted in the bloodletting, most of them sent to walk the beat in public housing, the documents show.

The sweeping changes come after The Post revealed in a Sunday front-page story that Chief of Department Maddrey was allegedly granting overtime for sex to Lt. Quathisha Epps, who raked in a total of more than $400,000 in 2024.

“If you want to show that you are genuinely trying to change the face of the department and get rid of all of Maddrey’s cronies, this is the best way to do it,” a police officer with more than 20 years on the job said.

Earlier this month, Tisch ordered 500 officers who had been “improperly transferred” to go back to their regular assignments, an internal police memo obtained by The Post shows.

The practice was known as “telephone message transfers” and led to a lack of boots on the ground in some areas and therefore slower response times, the Dec. 9 memo stated.

The Post revealed that top cop Jeffrey Maddrey was allegedly trading overtime for sex at police headquarters.

Epps claimed in graphic detail in an exclusive interview with The Post that Maddrey, the highest ranking uniformed officer in the NYPD, coerced her to have sex in his office between eight and 10 times, in exchange for the massive overtime.

Her lawyer, Eric Sanders, filed a discrimination complaint with the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, a precursor to a lawsuit.

Maddrey abruptly retired the day of The Post report.

He claimed through his lawyer on Friday that he had a “consensual, adult relationship” with Epps, but denied her accusation of “coercion.” The lawyer, Lambros Lambrou, said Maddrey had no authority to sign off on overtime pay.

In response, Epps’ attorney told The Post, “This clown is a f–king disgrace. We have a treasure trove of digital data that will hopefully bring this degenerate to justice.”

In a dramatic and unexpected move, Jessica Tisch, the newly appointed Chief of Department for the NYPD, has ousted dozens of top-ranking bosses in a shocking purge. The shake-up, which took place overnight, has left many within the department reeling and wondering about the future direction of the force.

Tisch, who was brought in to lead the department earlier this year, has wasted no time in making her mark on the organization. The exact reasons for the mass firings have not been disclosed, but sources within the department have speculated that it may be part of a larger effort to weed out corruption and inefficiency.

The ousted bosses, many of whom were long-time veterans of the force, have been replaced by a new wave of leaders handpicked by Tisch herself. The sudden and sweeping changes have sent shockwaves through the NYPD, with many officers feeling uncertain about what the future holds.

Tisch’s bold move has garnered both praise and criticism from within the department and the community at large. Some see it as a necessary step towards reform and modernization, while others worry about the destabilizing effects of such a large-scale shake-up.

As the dust settles on this unprecedented purge, all eyes will be on Jessica Tisch as she works to reshape the NYPD in her own image. Only time will tell whether her bold leadership will lead to positive change or further turmoil within the department.
