Sharon Osbourne says Ozzy is still ‘desperate’ to return to the UK and visit his home city of Birmingham.

Last week, Birmingham City Council announced they’re set to award all four founding members of Black Sabbath – Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward – the Freedom of the City of Birmingham.

The heavy metal torchbearers have previously been honoured in their home city with a star on the Broad Street Walk of Stars, individual stars in their own right, and a Black Sabbath Bench on Broad Street.

Ozzy has also had a tram and a giant mechanical bull at Birmingham’s New Street Station named after him.

In a new interview with BBC West Midlands about Ozzy being made a City Freeman, his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne said: “He couldn’t be happier right now, it’s come at a great time for him.”

Asked what the city of Birmingham means to Ozzy, Sharon replied: “It’s who Ozzy is, he’s never ever been one of these people who when you get fame you try and pretend to be something you’re not. He’s just Ozzy from Brum.

“That’s what he is and he’s never tried to be anything else. He owes so much to Birmingham, it’s his blood, that’s who he is.”

Sharon went on to say that Ozzy is still keen to return to live in the UK and visit his home city.

Ozzy previously told the Observer in 2022 that he and Sharon are permanently moving back to the UK after more than two decades in Los Angeles.

The BBC even commissioned a fly-on-the-wall series about the Osbournes’ return, however Ozzy’s ongoing health setbacks have stalled the move.

“He’s dying to come home,” Sharon told the BBC. “And that’s what’s been a bit tough.

“Each time we make arrangements to come, something happens that he can’t do it, and he’s desperate to come home.”

Sharon previously revealed during her spoken word show Cut The Crap in January 2024 that Ozzy was hoping to play a farewell concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park as a “goodbye” to fans.

The planned gig, which was expected to feature a Black Sabbath reunion, hasn’t yet come into fruition.

  • Ozzy Osbourne ‘shocked’ as Birmingham votes to honour Black Sabbath | Music

Being awarded the Freedom of Birmingham “means a lot” to Ozzy Osbourne and the members of Black Sabbath, Sharon Osbourne has said, after the city council approved the honour.

Ozzy, alongside the founding band members, Tony Iommi, Terence “Geezer” Butler and Bill Ward, will be given the honorary title in recognition of their service to the city, after councillors gave it the go-ahead on Tuesday.

The council also approved the posthumous award of the City of Birmingham Medal to the late poet Benjamin Zephaniah for his “unique and distinguished contribution” to the field of literature and for his charitable and community work.

Sharon Osbourne said her 76-year-old husband was “very proud” to receive the honour.

“It means a lot to him, it really does, to be recognised from his home. He’s very excited,” she told BBC Radio West Midlands. “He couldn’t quite believe it, he thought I was winding him up. He said: ‘Really, me? But I’ve been in prison!’”

In a statement, Ozzy Osbourne said he was “honoured and shocked” to receive the honour.

“I’m a proud Brummie from Aston through and through. I’m still amazed to this day that no one outside of Birmingham can understand a word I say, but that’s always made me laugh,” he said. “My only regret is that my mom and dad are not here to see what I became. Birmingham for ever!”

Black Sabbath, who have sold more than 75m albums worldwide, were formed in 1968 in Aston, Birmingham and are considered one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time.

The band have a bench in their honour in the centre of Birmingham. A large mechanical bull from the 2022 Commonwealth Games, on display in New Street station, was named Ozzy after a public vote.

Sharon added her husband was “dying to come home” from the US and spend time Birmingham, but health setbacks meant that plans to do so had fallen through.

“He really, really wants to come home and that’s what been a bit tough, because each time he’s made arrangements to come, something happens,” she said.

“We’re not home here. It’s not where we’re from, it’s not what we are. People here have been fantastic to Ozzy, but it’s not his home.”

She said they were donating Ozzy’s awards and platinum discs to a museum in Birmingham.

“It belongs in Birmingham, it needs to stay in Birmingham,” she said. “He owes so much to Birmingham, it’s his blood, that’s who he is. If he’d have been born anywhere else, he wouldn’t be the story that it is today, so he totally embraces his history and what Birmingham means to him.”

The Crown pub, where Black Sabbath played their first gig, was given listed status last year after falling into disrepair in recent years, and there have been calls for a permanent museum commemorating heavy metal music in the region.

In a recent turn of events, Ozzy Osbourne has expressed his shock as Birmingham votes to honour his legendary band Black Sabbath. The iconic heavy metal group, which was formed in Birmingham in 1968, has been a significant part of the city’s musical history and has left a lasting impact on the global music scene.

Osbourne, who is known as the Prince of Darkness, has expressed his gratitude and disbelief at the decision to honor Black Sabbath with a special tribute in their hometown. The vote to honor the band was announced by Birmingham City Council, who recognized the band’s contribution to music and their influence on future generations of musicians.

The news comes as a pleasant surprise to Osbourne, who has often spoken about his humble beginnings in Birmingham and the struggles he faced as a young musician. He has credited the city with shaping his musical career and helping him become the rock legend he is today.

Fans of Black Sabbath have also welcomed the news, with many expressing their excitement at the prospect of a tribute to the band in their hometown. The tribute is set to include a special plaque honoring the band, as well as other events and celebrations to commemorate their legacy.

As one of the pioneers of heavy metal music, Black Sabbath has left an indelible mark on the music world, influencing countless bands and artists over the years. The decision to honor them in Birmingham is a fitting tribute to their enduring legacy and their impact on the world of music.

In response to the news, Osbourne has expressed his gratitude to the city of Birmingham and to the fans who have supported Black Sabbath throughout the years. He has expressed his shock at the decision to honor the band, but also his immense pride in being a part of such a legendary group.

The tribute to Black Sabbath is set to take place later this year, and fans can look forward to celebrating the band’s incredible legacy in their hometown. As one of the most influential bands in rock history, Black Sabbath truly deserves this honor, and Ozzy Osbourne couldn’t be more thrilled about it.

  • Horrifying simulation shows what happened to Ozzy Osbourne after he bit into a bat a fan threw on stage – News

Horrifying simulation shows what happened to Ozzy Osbourne after he bit into a bat a fan threw on stage – News

A lot of musicians have made reputations for themselves with their on-stage antics, but I don’t think there are many quite as memorable as Ozzy Osbourne biting into a bat.

The historic moment took place in 1982, way before many of us were even born. But whether you’re a fan of Ozzy or not, chances are you’ve still heard about it.

It all went down at a show in Des Moines, Iowa, when Ozzy was performing as lead singer for the heavy metal band Black Sabbath.

During the show, a fan threw what Ozzy at the time thought was a fake rubber bat on to the stage.

Wanting to give his fans a good show, the singer picked up the object and sunk his teeth into it – but as soon as he did, he realized he’d made a huge mistake.

Per Far Out magazine, the rock star recalled: “Immediately […] something felt wrong. Very wrong.”

A horrifying simulation created by YouTuber Zack D. Films helps shed light on exactly what Ozzy went through in the following moments, as it shows a simulated version of the star realizing his mouth has filled up with liquid as he discovered the bat was actually real.

Ozzy recalled: “For a start, my mouth was instantly full of this warm, gloopy liquid, with the worst aftertaste you could ever imagine. I could feel it staining my teeth and running down my chin.”

The simulation shows Ozzy's mouth filling with blood (YouTube/Zack D. Films)

The simulation shows the blood running down Ozzy’s chin before he was taken to the hospital to try and counter any potentially dangerous health impacts.

At the time, the musician initially feared the bat had been alive when it was thrown on to the stage, and that he’d killed it by biting off its head.

Later, however, the person who’d thrown the bat confirmed it was already dead.

Viewers have been left horrified by the simulation retelling the incident, with one writing: “His face of terror when he realized…”

At the hospital, Ozzy received rabies jabs as a precaution, and while he largely seemed to walk away from the incident physically unscathed, the incident quickly became something he’d be associated with for decades to come.

In 1997, the singer told journalist Edward Helmore that the story had followed him ‘every day since 1982’.

“It’s not Ozzy Osbourne the man who’s travelled more miles than an astronaut and sold x billion records. It’s all they’re going to remember!” he said. “When I die it will be OZZY Osbourne THE BAT BITER IS DEAD; BATS CAN NOW LIVE IN PEACE.”

Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary rock star known for his wild antics and crazy performances, made headlines in 1982 when he famously bit the head off a bat that a fan threw on stage during a concert. Now, a horrifying simulation has been created to show what exactly happened to Ozzy after that infamous moment.

The simulation, created by a team of experts in visual effects, shows the bat biting incident in graphic detail. As Ozzy sinks his teeth into the bat, blood and guts splatter everywhere, causing shock and disgust among the audience. The simulation then goes on to show the consequences of Ozzy’s actions, as he is rushed to the hospital and treated for rabies and other infections.

The simulation serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of such reckless behavior, and the potential consequences that can arise from it. While Ozzy has since expressed regret for his actions and claimed that he thought the bat was fake, the simulation is a chilling reminder of the real-life horror that ensued that night.

Fans of Ozzy Osbourne and curious onlookers alike can watch the simulation online, but be warned – it is not for the faint of heart. The shocking visuals and gruesome details are sure to leave a lasting impression on anyone who dares to watch.

“I F*cking Hate Christmas”: Ozzy Osbourne’s Hatred for the Holiday and Drinking 28 Gallons of Beer

From munching bats to snorting ants, Ozzy Osbourne making it to his 76th birthday on Dec. 3 is truly the eighth world wonder. I mean, who gets fired from a heavy metal band for partying too much? But he lived to tell the tale—and earn his spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Recently, the former Black Sabbath frontman recalled downing a Herculean amount of alcohol one Christmas.

Ozzy Osbourne: “I F*cking Hate Christmas”

If you watched The Osbourne Family Christmas Special in 2003 (yes, I’m dating myself,) you know how Ozzy Osbourne feels about the holidays.

“I’ve been saying to Sharon forever, ‘F*ck Christmas, I hate it,’” the “Bark at the Moon” singer said in 2022. “It’s for shopaholics and kids and so I’ve always wanted to work through Christmas.”

Tell us how you really feel.

Osbourne reiterated his Yuletide antipathy in another interview with The Sun, eloquently declaring, “I f*cking hate Christmas. It gets right up my a–hole.”

He continued, “When I used to do booze and get f*cked up, I bought a barrel with 28 gallons of booze for me. I drunk it before it was Christmas f*cking Eve.”

Talk about “Flying High Again.” For the record, the average American adult downs about 28.2 gallons each year, according to The Beer Institute. What a champ.

Ozzy Admits He’s “No Longer Completely Sober”

Ozzy Osbourne has never hidden his struggles with substance abuse, heading to rehab for the first time back in 1974. “I thought I’d be drinking to the day I die,” he told Variety in 2021.

Ozzy admitted on the Madhouse Chronicles Podcast that while he is “happier,” he is “not completely sober.”

“I use a bit of marijuana from time to time,” revealed the Prince of Darkness.

Fortunately, his wife and manager, Sharon, is there to make sure he doesn’t stray too far from the straight and narrow.

“I’m lucky my wife kicked my butt all the time,” Ozzy said. “She would f*cking make life so difficult.”

Talking to punk rock guitarist Billy Morrison, the Grammy winner said, “There come a point when you and I said, ‘You know what, this ain’t getting me anywhere. Surely, there’s something better than this.”

The holiday season is supposed to be a time of joy, laughter, and merriment. But for legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, Christmas brings nothing but dread and disdain. In a recent interview, the Prince of Darkness revealed that he absolutely despises the holiday, going as far as to say, “I f*cking hate Christmas.”

For Ozzy, Christmas brings back memories of his tumultuous childhood and the pressure to be merry and bright when all he wanted to do was escape. The commercialization of the holiday also irks him, as he feels it has lost its true meaning amidst the frenzy of shopping and gift-giving.

To cope with his holiday-induced stress, Ozzy has been known to drown his sorrows in copious amounts of alcohol. In fact, during one particularly rough Christmas, he reportedly drank an astonishing 28 gallons of beer in a single day.

So this holiday season, spare a thought for Ozzy Osbourne as he navigates the treacherous waters of Christmas cheer. And if you happen to see him drowning his sorrows in a sea of beer, just remember that even rock gods can’t escape the holiday blues.

Ozzy Osbourne recalls drinking 28 gallons of beer at Christmas

Ozzy Osbourne shared details of one Christmas when he downed 28 gallons of beer.

The 76-year-old rock legend is well known for his wild past – and has previously spoken openly about former addictions that he battled.

In a new interview, the Changes singer explained that he is not a fan of Christmas – and recalled drinking an incredible amount of alcohol one year to cope.

The rock and roll icon has been quoted by The Sun stating, “I f***ing hate Christmas. It gets right up my a***hole.”

He went on to explain he bought so much beer that he drank the equivalent of 224 pints in order to get himself through the festive season.

Osbourne said, “When I used to do booze and get f****d up, I bought a barrel with 28 gallons of booze for me. I drunk it before it was Christmas f***ing Eve.”

Earlier this year, the singer revealed that he does not consider himself “completely sober”.

He said on the Madhouse Chronicles Podcast in October, “I am happier, but I am not completely sober. I use a bit of marijuana from time to time.”

Explaining how wife Sharon Osbourne would react to him returning to drugs, he added, “Even with marijuana she will f**king find it and get rid of it… I went to a doctor recently and started to have this ketamine. He put a tiny bit in me, but that was enough to spark me. That thing came back and weighted my brain.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne shocked fans with a wild holiday story. The Prince of Darkness revealed that one Christmas, he consumed a staggering 28 gallons of beer in just a few days.

Osbourne recounted the boozy binge, saying, “I don’t remember much from that Christmas, to be honest. I just know that I drank way too much.” The rock icon admitted that his excessive drinking left him feeling “absolutely wrecked” and led to a few embarrassing moments with family and friends.

Despite the extreme amount of alcohol consumed, Osbourne managed to survive the holiday season and eventually sought help for his addiction. The Black Sabbath frontman has since been sober for several years and continues to inspire others with his journey to recovery.

As fans reflect on this wild Christmas tale, they are reminded of the dangers of excessive drinking and the importance of seeking help when needed. Cheers to Ozzy Osbourne for sharing his story and reminding us all to drink responsibly this holiday season.

  • Donovan Ezeiruaku and Ozzy Trapilo Will Not Play in the Pinstripe Bowl for Boston College

Donovan Ezeiruaku and Ozzy Trapilo Will Not Play in the Pinstripe Bowl for Boston College

On Friday, Bill O’Brien announced in his Pinstripe Bowl pre-game press conference that star Boston College defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku and offensive lineman Ozzy Trapilo will not be suiting up for the team’s bowl game in New York City on Saturday.

Ezeiruaku was recently named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and is a consensus All-American, so this is certainly a big loss for the Eagles for their final game of the 2024 season. Trapilo also is a great player, having earned first-team all-ACC honors this season and leading a BC offensive line to spearhead one of the most efficient offenses in the ACC.

In their stead, back-up right tackle Kevin Cline is expected to get the start on the offensive line (unless O’Brien shakes things up), while defensive ends Quintayvious Hutchins and Neto Okpala will pick up the slack for Ezeiruaku. So far, these are the only confirmed bowl game opt-outs for Boston College.

Boston College football fans were disappointed to learn that star linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku and defensive back Ozzy Trapilo will not be playing in the Pinstripe Bowl against Maryland. Both players have been standout performers for the Eagles this season, with Ezeiruaku leading the team in tackles and Trapilo making crucial plays in the secondary.

Unfortunately, both players have opted out of the bowl game to prepare for the NFL Draft. While fans will miss seeing them on the field one last time in the maroon and gold, they understand and support their decision to focus on their future careers.

Despite the absence of Ezeiruaku and Trapilo, Boston College is still poised to put up a strong fight against Maryland in the Pinstripe Bowl. The team has depth and talent across the board, and will look to end the season on a high note with a victory in the bowl game.

Ezeiruaku and Trapilo’s contributions to the Boston College football program will not be forgotten, and fans are excited to see where their careers take them next. Good luck to both players as they pursue their dreams at the next level!
