• Clippers reportedly trade P.J. Tucker and Mo Bamba to Jazz for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills

The Los Angeles Clippers are making moves ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, sending P.J. Tucker and Mo Bamba to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills, per ESPN. Utah also reportedly receives a future second-round pick and cash in the trade.

Bamba, 26, and Eubanks, 28, are a more direct part of the trade: The two centers have put up similar numbers for their respective teams this season. Bamba signed a one-year deal with the Clippers this offseason, while Eubanks signed a two-year contract in August that Los Angeles will pick up.

The other two players in the trade are veterans. Tucker, 39, signed a three-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022, which the Clippers took on when the veteran forward was sent to Los Angeles in 2023 as part of the James Harden trade.

Mills, meanwhile, will be joining his fourth team in the past year. Mills was waived by the Atlanta Hawks last February, and signed with the Miami Heat by March; the 36-year-old guard then signed with the Jazz in September.

Per ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the trade puts the Clippers $4 million below the luxury tax, opening the team up for more flexibility ahead of the trade deadline. Tucker, Bamba and Mills are all on contracts that expire at the end of the season, while Eubanks will have one more year remaining on the deal.

In a surprising move, the Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly traded P.J. Tucker and Mo Bamba to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills.

This trade shakes up both teams’ rosters and could have a significant impact on their playoff hopes. Tucker and Bamba bring defensive presence and versatility to the Jazz, while Eubanks and Mills add depth and shooting to the Clippers’ lineup.

It will be interesting to see how these new acquisitions fit in with their respective teams and how they perform in the postseason. Stay tuned for more updates on this blockbuster trade.

P.J. Tucker’s ill-fated time with the Los Angeles Clippers has come to a close.

The Clippers are trading the 39-year-old forward, who has yet to play this season, along with center Mo Bamba and a future second-round pick to the Utah Jazz for forward Drew Eubanks and guard Patty Mills, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The news doesn’t come as a surprise. Coming into the year, the Clippers announced that Tucker wouldn’t be with the team.

“P.J. is a pro who has achieved a lot in his career and there’s more he wants to accomplish,” the Clippers said in a statement on Oct. 6. “We will continue working with P.J. and his representative to find the best situation for him moving forward.”

It was unclear if that would eventually result in a buyout—Tucker is on a $11.5 million player option this season and will become a free agent in the summer—or a trade. Ultimately, the Clippers were able to move him via the trade route.

Bamba, meanwhile, has been used as a reserve in the frontcourt. He’s averaging 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per contest through 28 appearances.

Swapping Tucker and Bamba for Eubanks and Mills, both bench players in Utah, doesn’t improve the Clippers that much. The trade does, however, ease their financial burden slightly.

The Clippers duck the tax by trading PJ Tucker for Drew Eubanks. They’re $4.1 million below that threshold so still have room to increase payroll a bit while remaining under.

They also create a $6.5 million trade exception.

Tucker will also welcome the change of scenery.

A divorce felt inevitable after he wasn’t a big part of the rotation last season. He was traded to the Clippers as part of the James Harden deal and appeared in just 28 games (seven starts), averaging 1.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15 minutes per game while shooting 36.7 percent from three.

Tucker publicly expressed a desire to be moved last season, which ultimately cost him a $75,000 fine.

“I want to be somewhere where I’m needed, wanted and can do it all,” Tucker said in those comments in February. “I don’t know what’s going to happen but I have my fingers crossed and I’m hoping to go somewhere else, whether I get bought out and choose where I go or where I can play.”

Tucker didn’t get his trade last year, but this season the Clippers were able to find a suitor in Utah.

As for what he offers at this point in his career, that’s up for debate. The power forward has traditionally been a rugged, multi-positional defender and glue guy who could hit enough spot-up threes to not completely tank his own team’s offense. But given his age and limited role at this point in his career, his $11.5 million salary is fairly steep.

Considering the Jazz own the Western Conference’s worst record (10-36), a buyout seems the likeliest outcome. They could prefer to keep Tucker’s expiring salary on the books to preserve a sizable cap hold for 2025-26.

In a blockbuster trade that sent shockwaves through the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to trade P.J. Tucker, Mo Bamba, and more to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Patty Mills and Drew Eubanks.

The trade, which was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, is said to be a win-win for both teams. The Jazz are getting some much-needed defensive help in Tucker and a promising young center in Bamba, while the Clippers are adding some much-needed scoring punch with Mills and depth with Eubanks.

Tucker, known for his tenacious defense and veteran leadership, will be a valuable addition to the Jazz as they look to make a deep playoff run. Bamba, a former lottery pick, has shown flashes of potential and could benefit from a change of scenery in Utah.

On the other side, Mills will provide the Clippers with some much-needed shooting and playmaking off the bench, while Eubanks will add depth to their frontcourt rotation.

Fans of both teams are eagerly anticipating how this trade will impact their respective rosters and playoff aspirations. Stay tuned for more updates as the trade deadline approaches.

  • Mavs’ Naji Marshall, P.J. Washington ejected after fight in Phoenix Suns game

Mavs’ Naji Marshall, P.J. Washington ejected after fight in Phoenix Suns game

Marshall got into an altercation with Jusuf Nurkic with under 10 minutes to go in the third quarter.

PHOENIX — Three players including the Dallas Mavericks’ P.J. Washington and Naji Marshall were ejected in the third quarter of the Mavs matchup with the Phoenix Suns Friday night.

With under 10 minutes to go in the third quarter, Suns’ Jusuf Nurkic committed a charging foul on the Mavs’ Daniel Gafford, which resulted in Gafford getting pushed to the ground.

Following the foul, Nurkic appeared to say something in the direction of Marshall. The Mavs guard took exception to that and said words back as the two came chest-to-chest.

Marshall then attempted to push Nurkic off, however, the Suns center slapped Marshall on the side of the head. Marshall then took a full-on swing at Nurkic and connected with the side of his head.

During this altercation, Mavs’ P.J. Washington was in the mix while the pushing and shoving was going on so after a couple of minutes of review, all three players were ejected from the contest.

Washington exited the game with seven points and Marshall with 4.

The Phoenix Suns game against the Dallas Mavericks took a heated turn as Naji Marshall and P.J. Washington were both ejected after a physical altercation on the court. The scuffle broke out in the second quarter, with tensions running high between the two teams.

Both players were seen exchanging words and pushing each other before things escalated into a full-blown fight. The referees quickly intervened and ejected Marshall and Washington from the game, much to the dismay of their respective teams.

The incident serves as a reminder of the intensity and competitiveness that can arise in NBA games, especially when two talented teams like the Suns and Mavericks face off. It also highlights the importance of maintaining composure and sportsmanship, even in the heat of the moment.

As the game continues, both teams will have to regroup and refocus in order to come out on top. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
