Pacers close out calendar in clash with visiting Bucks

Coming off back-to-back games against the reigning champion Boston Celtics, the Indiana Pacers welcome in the visiting Milwaukee Bucks for an afternoon battle on New Year’s Eve.

After Boston dominated the front end 142-105, Indiana bounced back and won 123-114 at TD Garden on Sunday night.

Tyrese Haliburton led the way with 31 points and seven assists and was one of eight Pacers who scored at least eight points in the contest.

“We knew we were going to respond. We know who we are. It’s a good win for us,” Haliburton said. “I just want to take what the defense gives me. Everyone is on me to get downhill more, shoot more … every game is about learning, growing and getting better.”

Milwaukee comes in off back-to-back losses, both without Giannis Antetokounmpo on the floor. After blowing a 13-point lead to Brooklyn on Thursday, they lost 116-11 to Chicago on Saturday night.

Damian Lillard returned from injury and led Milwaukee with 29 points and 12 assists. Eighteen of those points came in the second half, but Bucks coach Doc Rivers regretted not getting him more chances at the end of the game.

“I got to do a better job of making sure Dame gets the ball in his hands down the stretch of the game,” Rivers said. “We have to have an understanding to get it to him and I just have to get it to him and live with it.”

Antetokounmpo leads the NBA with 32.7 points per game and leads the Bucks with 11.6 rebounds. Lillard leads with 7.7 assists per night.

Pascal Siakam leads Indiana with 19.8 points per game, with six other Pacers averaging double figures. Siakam also leads with 7.2 rebounds while Haliburton averages 8.7 assists (fifth in NBA) and Myles Turner averages 2.1 blocks (third in NBA).

The question for this game will be if Antetokounmpo, who has missed the last few games with an illness that made its rounds in the Bucks’ locker room, will be able to go.

Milwaukee is mostly over the illness as a team, but rookie AJ Johnson also sat out against Chicago due to the illness. Rivers also said Khris Middleton is on a minutes’ restriction after his recent return from injury and illness.

On the Pacers’ side, Obi Toppin is considered day-to-day with an ankle injury and missed Sunday’s game. Aaron Nesmith (ankle), Isaiah Jackson (Achilles) and James Wiseman (Achilles) remain out as well.

The Bucks took the first matchup between these teams 129-117 at home on Nov. 22. Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 37 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds and the Bucks shot 47.2 percent from deep.

This series was well-documented a year ago when Indiana won four of the five matchups against Milwaukee, with an extra meeting thanks to the NBA Cup semifinals.

In the Bucks’ lone win, Antetokounmpo scored a franchise-record 64 points, which led to a dust-up in the locker room with some confusion over who took the game ball.

Payton Pritchard flirts with triple-double Friday against Pacers – Payton Pritchard News

Payton Pritchard was on fire Friday night as he led the Boston Celtics to a 119-114 victory over the Indiana Pacers. The rookie point guard flirted with a triple-double, finishing the game with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Pritchard showcased his versatility and playmaking abilities throughout the game, making clutch shots and setting up his teammates for easy baskets. His performance drew praise from his teammates and coaches, who were impressed with his poise and composure on the court.

With his strong showing against the Pacers, Pritchard continues to prove that he belongs in the NBA and has a bright future ahead of him. Celtics fans are excited to see what else the rookie sensation has in store as he continues to make his mark in the league.

Stay tuned for more updates on Payton Pritchard and the Boston Celtics as they look to make a playoff push in the Eastern Conference. #PaytonPritchard #BostonCeltics #NBA #TripleDouble #RookieSensation

  • Indiana Pacers vs Boston Celtics Prediction, Odds and Picks

Indiana Pacers vs Boston Celtics Prediction, Odds and Picks

The Indiana Pacers and the Boston Celtics will play for the second time in three days at TD Garden. In the first game, Boston blew the Pacers out 142-105. Boston shot 51% from the field and went 23-56 from beyond the arc. There are little-to-no teams that can match Boston when they shoot the way they did. The Pacers couldn’t find their shot all night, only shooting 41% and 28% from three. Jaylen Brown continued to show that he is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. Brown scored 44 points on 66% shooting, and he did this all while picking up Tyrese Haliburton full court for 37 minutes. The Pacers did manage to beat the Celtics back in October of this year, 135-132.

The Celtics and Pacers are two NBA teams that predicate themselves on pace and try to overwhelm their opponent with a flurry of points. The Celtics are currently 3rd in the NBA in offensive rating with a rating of 119.6. The Celtics shoot an absurd amount of three pointers each game. They rank 1st in the NBA with 50.5 three-point attempts per game. In comparison to the rest of the league, 2nd place is the Bulls with 43.6 three-point attempts per game. The Celtics roster is designed to make the three, and they make it at a rate of 36.6%.  The Pacers are not far behind the Celtics on offense, ranked 11th with an offensive rating of 115.4. What the Pacers lack in offensive rating, they make up for in pace. Indiana ranks 7th in the NBA in pace played with a score of 100.78. The fast-paced offense has led to an average of 114.4 points per game. Usually, I like for the team that just got blown out to come back with a better effort in game two of a back-to-back, but with how many threes the Celtics take, they can be a hard team to predict. Instead, I like for the Pacers to lean into what they know best and to have a better offensive outing tonight.

The Indiana Pacers are set to take on the Boston Celtics in what promises to be an exciting matchup. Both teams are coming off strong performances and will be looking to secure a crucial win in the Eastern Conference.

The Pacers have been playing solid basketball as of late, with key players such as Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon leading the charge. They will be looking to continue their winning streak and improve their position in the standings.

On the other hand, the Celtics are also a formidable opponent, with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way. Despite some recent struggles, the Celtics have the talent and depth to compete with the best teams in the league.

In terms of odds, the Celtics are currently favored to win this matchup. However, the Pacers have shown that they can compete with top teams and should not be underestimated.

In terms of predictions, this game could go either way. Both teams have the potential to come out on top, but it may ultimately come down to which team can execute their game plan more effectively.

As for picks, I would lean towards the Celtics to come away with the win in a close game. However, the Pacers are more than capable of pulling off the upset, so it should be an exciting matchup to watch.

  • Celtics injury report: Kristaps Porzingis listed again for Pacers game

Celtics injury report: Kristaps Porzingis listed again for Pacers game

The Celtics are looking to beat the Pacers again, plus they’ll potentially get healthy. Jrue Holiday (right shoulder impingement) and Kristaps Porzingis (left ankle sprain) are questionable on the injury report ahead of the 6 p.m. Sunday game against the Pacers. Two-way forward Anton Watson is also out with a left adductor strain.

Both Holiday and Porzingis missed the blowout win over the Pacers on Friday at TD Garden. Holiday has sat the last two games with the shoulder issue. Porzingis missed the game after hurting his ankle in the first half against the 76ers on Christmas Day, which forced him to sit the entire second half.

The big question mark is Porzingis, who’s dealt with bumps and bruises since returning to the court in late-November from surgery rehab. Porzingis being questionable for the past two games appears to be a good sign instead of being an automatic out on the injury report. The team is also going to be cautious with their talented big man considering how injury prone he has been throughout his career.

The Celtics dominated the Pacers on Friday despite missing two of their starters. Jaylen Brown was at his best, scoring a season-high 44 points, while Payton Pritchard flirted with his second-ever triple-double. The C’s snapped a two-game losing streak with their 37-point win Friday.

The Pacers were also shorthanded Friday, missing some rotation players, plus they were playing the second game of a back-to-back. So they’ll look to bounce back for Sunday’s game as the Pacers have given Boston some issues in the past. The Pacers will get Andrew Nembhard (knee) back after sitting last game, while Obi Toppin (ankle) is questionable.

The Boston Celtics have released their injury report for their upcoming game against the Indiana Pacers, and once again, Kristaps Porzingis is listed as questionable.

Porzingis has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury that has kept him out of the lineup for the past few games. The Celtics are hoping that he will be able to play against the Pacers, but his status remains up in the air.

Porzingis’ absence has been felt by the team, as he is a key player on both ends of the court. His scoring ability and shot-blocking presence have been sorely missed, and the Celtics will be eager to get him back on the court as soon as possible.

Fans will have to wait and see if Porzingis is able to suit up for the game against the Pacers, but his presence would certainly give the Celtics a much-needed boost. Stay tuned for more updates on his status as game time approaches.

Thunder vs Pacers Prediction, Odds and Picks

The 81-points scored in the NBA Cup final has woken up the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are 3-0 SU after that loss to Milwaukee. Their 11-3 SU road record will be tested in Indiana on Thursday, though. The Thunder have had a surprisingly poor record in head-to-head meetings vs the Pacers, winning just 2 of the last 10 games. In games played in Indiana, OKC is just 1-5 SU in the last 6 meetings, with their last win being in the 2021-22 season. They’ll have to do without Alex Caruso on Thursday, as he is ruled out with a hip injury. Despite that news, they’re still 5.5 point favorites in this game.

The Pacers have weathered the storm with a 5-game win streak, which has improved them to 15-15 on the season. They come back home from a demanding 3-game West coast road trip, in which they beat Phoenix, Sacramento and Golden State by an average of 14 points per game. Ball distribution has been one of the key factors for this win streak. Indy has assisted on over 72% of baskets scored, which ranks them 2nd only to the San Antonio Spurs. Tyrese Haliburton deserves a lot of praise for his play, as he’s recorded 10+ dimes in 4 of his last 5 games.

A lot will depend on how the Thunder defend Haliburton. Caruso being out of the line-up makes this assignment a lot tougher for them. Haliburton is averaging 12.2 assists per game in the last 5 meetings, and I feel like the Pacers are in a good mood after those 3 big road wins. They are a reliable 8-4 SU in 12 home games, so I say we back them to cover as home underdogs here.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will face off against the Indiana Pacers in an exciting matchup tonight. Both teams are coming off wins and will be looking to continue their momentum.

The Thunder have been on a hot streak lately, winning their last four games. They currently sit at 7th place in the Western Conference and will be looking to climb up the standings with a win tonight. Their dynamic duo of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luguentz Dort have been leading the way for the team.

On the other hand, the Pacers have been struggling as of late, losing their last three games. They are currently sitting at 9th place in the Eastern Conference and will be looking to turn things around with a win tonight. Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon will need to step up for the Pacers to secure a victory.

In terms of odds, the Thunder are slight favorites to win this game with a spread of -2.5. The over/under is set at 220.5 points.

Prediction: This game is shaping up to be a close one, but I believe the Thunder will come out on top with their recent momentum and strong performances from their key players. I predict a final score of Thunder 112, Pacers 108.

    Picks:

    – Thunder -2.5
    – Over 220.5 points

It should be an exciting matchup between two competitive teams. Stay tuned for the game tonight to see who comes out on top!

  • OKC Thunder To Continue Hot Streak Against Spread vs Pacers

OKC Thunder To Continue Hot Streak Against Spread vs Pacers

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers are about set to face off in a East-West matchup. The Thunder are perfect this season against Eastern Conference foes, without counting the NBA Cup Championship which does not factor into the regular seaon standings.

This is a battle between two hot teams as the Pacers are fresh off a season-saving road trip to get them back to .500 and heading in the right direction. The Thunder are on an eight-game winning streak, turning in a 9-1 record over the last ten games.

Oklahoma City will be without two key rotational pieces in Chet Holmgren and Alex Caruso. While the Thunder have already plotted to be without Holmgren for a large chunk of the regular season, the Caruso blow hurts. The defensive ace provides a different edge and intensity off the bench while limiting offensive something of a nightmare for scorers, all extremely important for road contests.

The Pacers will have Myles Turner in the fold after listing him as questionable all day. However, Indiana despite its size, still ranks 29th in rebounds per game. This opens the door for Isaiah Hartenstein and company to still control the glass and help the Thunder earn a win.

Oklahoma City will have to shoot the ball well from 3-point land, which will be a tall task. The Thunder have labored on offense for some of this eight game stretch and keeping pace with Indiana’s top ten 3-point shooters will be difficult on the road.

However, the Thunder should have two of the three best players on the floor at minimum and its depth should be enough to pull out a win. With FanDuel keeping the line at a flat five points in Oklahoma City’s direction, this scribe would advise throwing a small sum down on the favorites that could easily disorient the Pacers turnover-prone lineups leading to easy points and a big road win.

    The Bet: Thunder -5

    The Record: 18-10-1

The Oklahoma City Thunder have been on fire lately, winning five of their last six games and covering the spread in four of those victories. They will look to continue their hot streak when they take on the Indiana Pacers tonight.

The Pacers have been struggling as of late, losing three of their last four games and failing to cover the spread in all of those losses. With the Thunder playing at a high level and the Pacers struggling, it seems like a safe bet to take OKC to cover the spread in this matchup.

The Thunder have been getting strong performances from their young core of players, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is averaging 23.6 points per game this season. They also have a solid defense that ranks 10th in the league in points allowed per game.

On the other hand, the Pacers have been dealing with injuries to key players like Caris LeVert and Malcolm Brogdon, which has hurt their offensive production. They will need to rely on their defense to keep them in games, but the Thunder’s offense has been clicking recently, scoring over 120 points in four of their last six games.

In conclusion, the Thunder seem poised to continue their hot streak against the spread against the struggling Pacers. With their strong play on both ends of the court and the Pacers’ injury woes, it’s likely that OKC will come out on top and cover the spread in this matchup.

Two Biggest Potential Trade Assets For Pacers Revealed

The Indiana Pacers have not been afraid to make big moves in the trade market under Kevin Pritchard. They do a great job of identifying needs and getting players who fill those needs. In most cases, the Pacers are able to win whatever trade they make.

Indiana has been playing some better basketball in recent days. They have won four out of their last five games and are finally starting to play with some pace. The Pacers are in the midst of their most brutal stretch of the season in terms of the schedule. They still have eight more games in a row against teams over .500.

With the slow start, it’s clear that the Pacers still need to make some improvements on the roster. Getting healthier has certainly helped them, but there are still some moves they can make. In order to make moves, the Pacers have to have assets that other teams want.

There are two main assets that Indiana has that they can use to make a deal happen. One of them is Obi Toppin. Toppin has played the best stretch of offensive basketball of his career to start this season. He’s averaging a career-high in points and rebounds and is shooting 55 percent from the field.

Toppin’s contract extension that he signed in the offseason is a perfect mid-level salary that can be used to stack on top of other contracts to get a real star. He signed a four-year $58 million deal, which means he’s making $13.5 million this season.

The other big asset the Pacers have in the trade market is Aaron Nesmith. Nesmith, the starting small-forward, is someone else that teams would love to have. Last season, he had a career-high three-point shooting season, making 42 percent of his shots from deep.

Nesmith also proved that he can be a very good perimeter defender. Before he got hurt, he was shooting a red-hot 55% from deep. His ankle issue is the main issue that could worry other teams. His contract is also reasonable, as he is making $11 million.

If the Pacers end up making a move near the trade deadline, it could include either one of these players. They have to make sure they are getting someone who is part of the present and the future to move these players because they have been solid contributors to this team.

As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the Indiana Pacers are reportedly looking to make some moves to improve their roster. Two of their biggest potential trade assets have been revealed, and they could have a significant impact on the team’s future.

The first potential trade asset for the Pacers is Domantas Sabonis. The All-Star big man has been a key contributor for Indiana this season, averaging 19.9 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. Sabonis is a versatile player who can score inside and out, rebound at a high level, and facilitate the offense. His skill set makes him a valuable asset for any team looking to make a playoff push.

The second potential trade asset for the Pacers is Caris LeVert. Since returning from a kidney surgery earlier this season, LeVert has been playing at a high level, averaging 17.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. The 27-year-old guard has shown flashes of brilliance and has the potential to be a dynamic scorer and playmaker for any team.

Both Sabonis and LeVert have been mentioned in trade rumors, and it will be interesting to see if the Pacers decide to move either player before the deadline. If they do, they could net some valuable assets in return and potentially reshape their roster for the better. Stay tuned for more updates on the Pacers’ trade deadline plans.
