Orlando Magic star Paolo Banchero reminisced Friday on X about playing pickup basketball at Duke with Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard.
“We used to get it in at the indoor football field too,” Banchero wrote on X.
Former Duke standout Trevor Keels, who now plays for the G League’s Iowa Wolves, chimed in:
The players were responding to a recent clip of Leonard talking about how he used to play with the Blue Devils basketball team during his time at Duke.
Leonard said he would be best known in his hometown in Alabama not for his work as a quarterback but for his previous reputation as a basketball player.
“I like to think that I could [walk on at Duke],” Leonard said in a recent clip shared by Robert Griffin III. “I didn’t necessarily have the handles, though. Because to have handles, you’ve got to be in the gym, all day, every day.
“My class, when I got there in the summer, I was with Paolo Banchero and them. So we used to go Cameron, late at night, and hoop. Which is hope. So I was always trying to sneak in there, and play with them boys, and see if I could really prove myself.”
Leonard continued: “That’s one of my biggest regrets. I wish I would’ve hit Coach K up my freshman year.”
When asked if he had ever scored on Banchero, Leonard answered: “Paolo’s different. No, I would hold my own, I’ll put it that way. I genuinely think I would have held my own. But yeah, I miss hoops.”
While Banchero was playing his way into becoming the first pick of the 2022 NBA Draft during his single season at Duke, Leonard was mainly serving as a backup to Gunnar Holmberg.
He served two seasons as the team’s primary starter before entering the transfer portal following the departure of Mike Elko at the end of the 2023 season.
Leonard and the Fighting Irish are now preparing to play Ohio State in the national championship game. Backup quarterback Steve Angeli briefly took over as Leonard went through concussion protocol during the team’s semifinal win over Penn State, but Leonard is expected to return Monday for Notre Dame’s title bid.
In a recent pickup game at Duke University, Magic’s Paolo Banchero and Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard faced off on the court, showcasing their skills and competitive spirit. Both players are highly touted prospects in college basketball, and their matchup drew a lot of attention from fans and scouts alike.Banchero, a versatile forward with a smooth shooting touch and strong defensive abilities, showed off his offensive prowess in the game, scoring at will and making plays for his teammates. Leonard, a sharpshooting guard with deep range and a quick release, matched Banchero shot for shot and displayed his ability to create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates.
The intense competition between Banchero and Leonard was a sight to behold, as both players pushed each other to their limits and left it all on the court. The pickup game served as a preview of what fans can expect to see from these two talented players in the upcoming college basketball season.
Stay tuned for more updates on Paolo Banchero, Riley Leonard, and other top college basketball prospects as they continue to impress on the court and make their mark in the world of basketball.

Paolo Banchero flexes basketball court in picturesque mansion bought with Kevin Durant’s advice
Paolo Banchero flexed his in-house basketball court to his fans. The Orlando Magic star appeared via ESPN’s “Andscape” with Marc J. Spears, where he revealed that he bought his Orlando mansion after advice from Kevin Durant.
He said that he was once hanging out with the Suns superstar at his Los Angeles mansion and when the two-time NBA champion asked about the Magic star’s home he was taken aback.
“I told KD I was living in a little condo downtown and he just looked at me like WHAT??” Banchero said.
•
The Suns star then advised the former first overall pick that he should live as the face of the franchise.
“You’re the face of the franchise, you got to live like it.”
The Magic star revealed that KD’s advice changed his outlook on the way he lived and sent him on a house hunt in his second year in the league. He found a house at the end of the year and moved in it the following summer.
After that revelation, Banchero took his fans on a tour of his in-house basketball court.
“This is why I got the house,” he said while showing off the court.
The Magic’s star’s in-house basketball court is a full 94-foot NBA regulation court with his brand’s logo at the center and “Banchero Court” inscribed on the sidelines. He also talked about his injury and revealed that he hadn’t spent much time on his in-house court because of it.
Paolo Banchero talks about his injury and his return to the court
Paolo Banchero is one of the best players in the league with incredible potential to become a superstar. He was single-handedly carrying the Magic when the season started. However, he suffered an oblique tear on Oct. 30 and was sidelined for more than two months.
During his appearance on ESPN’s show, the 2024 All-Star talked about the time he spent on the sidelines.
“Yeah, those two months away were tough, but I think I did a really good job of just keeping my spirits high throughout — whether it was just being around the team, being around my family, friends, and keeping myself motivated with the work I was doing to get back onto the court.”
He returned to action on Jan. 10 against the Milwaukee Bucks where he scored 34 points in a disappointing 109-106 loss. However, he has been on an upward trajectory ever since. He is averaging 27.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game on 49.3% field goal shooting percentage.

Paolo Banchero, the highly-touted basketball prospect and future NBA star, has been making waves both on and off the court. Recently, Banchero shared photos on social media of his newly purchased mansion, complete with a state-of-the-art basketball court that would make any basketball fan envious. But what’s even more impressive is the backstory behind Banchero’s luxurious purchase. It turns out that Banchero sought advice from none other than NBA superstar Kevin Durant before making the big investment. Durant, who is known for his savvy business acumen, reportedly gave Banchero some valuable tips on real estate and investing.
And it seems that Banchero took Durant’s advice to heart, as he now proudly shows off his stunning mansion and basketball court to his fans. The court features top-of-the-line equipment, including a custom-made hoop and hardwood flooring that rivals any professional arena.
With his combination of talent on the court and business acumen off the court, it’s clear that Banchero is destined for greatness. And with Durant in his corner, the sky’s the limit for this young basketball phenom.

Generative AI in Education: A Guide for Parents and TeachersArtificial Intelligence (AI) has been revolutionizing the way we learn and teach, and one of the most exciting developments in this field is generative AI. Generative AI is a type of AI that can create new content, such as text, images, or even music, based on patterns it has learned from existing data.
In the education sector, generative AI has the potential to enhance learning experiences, personalize instruction, and provide new tools for educators and students alike. However, as with any new technology, there are also potential risks and challenges that must be considered.
For parents and teachers who are interested in understanding more about generative AI in education, here are some key points to keep in mind:
1. Understand how generative AI works: Generative AI works by analyzing large datasets to identify patterns and then using those patterns to create new content. This can be particularly useful in tasks such as generating practice questions, creating personalized learning materials, or even developing interactive simulations.
2. Explore the benefits of generative AI in education: Generative AI can help educators create more engaging and personalized learning experiences for students, identify areas where students may need additional support, and provide new tools for assessment and feedback.
3. Consider the potential risks: While generative AI can offer many benefits, there are also potential risks to consider, such as bias in the data used to train the AI, the potential for AI-generated content to be misleading or inaccurate, and concerns about privacy and data security.
4. Engage with students: As generative AI becomes more common in education, it’s important for parents and teachers to engage with students about how AI is being used in the classroom, what its limitations are, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated content.
By staying informed and actively engaging with generative AI in education, parents and teachers can help ensure that this powerful technology is used responsibly and ethically to support student learning and growth.
About the author: Paolo Narciso Pa is a tech enthusiast and educator with a passion for exploring the intersection of AI and education.
