  • Pentagon removes major media outlets, including NBC News, from dedicated workstations as part of a new ‘rotation program’

WASHINGTON — The Department of Defense announced Friday night that it will institute a new “annual media rotation program” for its in-house press corps, effectively removing several major news outlets, including NBC News, from their Pentagon office spaces in favor of other outlets.

In addition to NBC News, The New York Times, National Public Radio and Politico must vacate their dedicated workspaces. The news organizations learned about the new directive in a memo sent to the press corps without being individually notified, and an accompanying email included a message that read, in part, “no additional information will be provided at this time.”

“For over a half-century, the Pentagon Press Corps has benefited from working out of individual office spaces that provide coveted and open access to some of the Department’s top military and civilian leaders,” read the memo Pentagon spokesperson John Ullyot sent to the Pentagon Press Association.

“In order to broaden access to the limited space of the Correspondents’ Corridor to outlets that have not previously enjoyed the privilege and journalist value of working from physical office space in the Pentagon, beginning February 14, 2025,” Ullyot wrote, there will be “a new Annual Media Rotation Program for those dedicated media spaces.”

In a statement, NBC News said, “We’re disappointed by the decision to deny us access to a broadcasting booth at the Pentagon that we’ve used for many decades. Despite the significant obstacles this presents to our ability to gather and report news in the national public interest, we will continue to report with the same integrity and rigor NBC News always has.”

The move by Pentagon officials comes seven days after the Senate confirmed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth by the narrowest of margins. It followed weeks of coverage about his behavior and treatment of women, including allegations that his alcohol consumption alarmed colleagues and his second wife feared for her safety around him. Hegseth has denied the allegations.

NBC News reported on some of the allegations against Hegseth.

The memo identified the rotating organizations by medium — selecting one each from TV, print, radio and online news to swap in and out. It said the news organizations rotating out had two weeks to vacate their spaces.

The new outlets rotating in are One America News Network — which will take NBC News’s spot — the New York Post, Breitbart News Network and HuffPost.

Three of the new outlets are conservative, while HuffPost leans progressive.

HuffPost does not have a Pentagon correspondent, and the site did not request a space, spokesperson Lizzie Grams said.

“If the Trump administration and Secretary Hegseth are interested in more hard-hitting coverage of their stewardship of the Defense Department from HuffPost, we are ready to deliver,” Grams said.

“This decision interferes with the ability of millions of Americans to directly hear from Pentagon leadership, and with NPR’s public interest mission to serve Americans who turn to our network of local public media stations in all 50 states,” NPR said in a statement. “NPR will continue to report with vigor and integrity on the transformation this Administration has promised to deliver. NPR urges the Pentagon to expand the offices available to press within the building so that all outlets covering the Pentagon receive equal access.”

A One America News spokesperson said in a statement that the news outlet has operated a bureau in Washington since 2013, and it “looks forward to having access to physical office space at the Pentagon and will utilize the accommodations full-time as soon as it’s available.”

NBC News reached out to the other news outlets for comment.

The memo did not include further details about the process of the new “rotation program,” including how officials chose which outlets needed to vacate office space first, how the new outlets were chosen and which are next, and how long an outlet would remain without an office space before it was rotated back into the building.

NBC News has held its dedicated Pentagon workspace for decades, enabling the network to broadcast its journalism throughout the day and within minutes of breaking news. The “booth,” as they are called, is hardwired with technical equipment, phone lines and a camera installed by NBC.

It is unclear whether NBC News will have the technical capability to broadcast from the Pentagon once it clears out its equipment from its workspace.

Ullyot noted that the vacating outlets continue to be members of the Pentagon press corps, meaning, in part, they “will be able to attend and cover briefings and be considered for travel with civilian and military leaders in the Department as they have previously.”

The Pentagon Press Association on Friday evening issued a statement saying, “Our resident press corps has greatly expanded over the years and we have always welcomed new members and will continue to do so.”

“We are, however, greatly troubled by this unprecedented move by DOD to single out highly professional media who have covered the Pentagon for decades, under both Republican and Democratic administrations,” the statement read. “We have asked for a meeting and we will keep everyone informed.”

At her first press briefing this week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Donald Trump’s administration was “opening up the briefing room to new media voices.” The first people she called on were Mike Allen of Axios — a longtime political journalist at a site considered mainstream — and Matt Boyle of Breitbart, a conservative site.

Leavitt also said her team was working “diligently to restore the press passes of the 440 journalists whose passes were wrongly revoked by the previous administration.”

The Pentagon has recently made the decision to remove major media outlets, including NBC News, from their dedicated workstations as part of a new ‘rotation program’. This move has sparked controversy and raised questions about the Pentagon’s relationship with the media.

According to Pentagon officials, the rotation program aims to provide a more equitable distribution of resources and access to information for all media outlets. This decision comes after years of complaints from smaller media organizations about the dominance of major outlets in the Pentagon press corps.

However, critics argue that this move is a blatant attempt to limit the access and influence of major media outlets, particularly those that are critical of the Pentagon or the current administration. They argue that this could have a chilling effect on the freedom of the press and the public’s right to know.

NBC News, one of the outlets affected by this decision, has expressed disappointment and concern about the Pentagon’s actions. They have vowed to continue reporting on national security and military issues, despite the challenges posed by the rotation program.

As the debate over the Pentagon’s new rotation program continues, it remains to be seen how this decision will impact the relationship between the military and the media, and what implications it may have for the broader landscape of press freedom in the United States.

  • Teddy Swims: I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2) review – extra-size emotion | Pop and rock

Teddy Swims’s Lose Control has become a generational, unavoidable hit. Billboard declared it the top single of 2024; it refuses to leave the UK charts after 14 months. Impressively, his 2023 album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1) backed up its promise, testament to the 32-year-old Atlantan’s skill at crafting sympathetic settings for his stunning, gale-force voice. Hozier sings Adele is his default setting, which will never lose anyone money. And Teddy gives it everything. If he’s trapped in a glass case of emotion, it’s the size and weight of the Shard. Although, as soulfully weathered as his crooning gets, it has little of that genuine, binman-in-a-bear-trap pain of singers such as Jelly Roll.

That was fine on Part 1, which detailed Swims’s entanglement in an unhealthy relationship. The sunshine in his voice seasoned his professed unhappiness with a pleasantly odd bathos. Sadly, Teddy has since fallen in love. Part 2 feels more corporate, with its genre-hopping, playlist-pleasing songs and much gusty whimpering about how great his girlfriend is. Still, Funeral, Bad Dreams, Hammer to the Heart and Not Your Man are as good as this brand of pop gets. Swims will be inescapable for a time yet.

Teddy Swims: I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2) review – extra-size emotion | Pop and rock

Teddy Swims is back with the highly anticipated continuation of his emotional journey in “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)”. This new release is a raw and vulnerable exploration of the singer’s struggles and triumphs, set against a backdrop of catchy pop and rock melodies.

The EP kicks off with the anthemic track “Love Me Now”, a powerful ballad that showcases Teddy Swims’ soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics. The song is a plea for acceptance and understanding, with Swims baring his soul in a way that is both heartbreaking and empowering.

“Bed on Fire” follows with a more upbeat and infectious sound, blending elements of pop and rock to create a dynamic and captivating track. Swims’ vocals soar over the driving guitar riffs, creating a sense of urgency and passion that is impossible to ignore.

The EP closes with the poignant “Feelings”, a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcases Swims’ vulnerability and introspection. The song is a reflection on the complexities of emotions and the struggles of navigating the highs and lows of life, set against a backdrop of lush instrumentation and emotive vocals.

Overall, “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)” is a stunning showcase of Teddy Swims’ talent and artistry. The EP is a testament to the power of music to heal and inspire, and a reminder that it’s okay to be vulnerable and seek help when needed. Teddy Swims has once again proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the pop and rock music scene, and this latest release is sure to resonate with fans old and new.

  • Implementing Predictive Maintenance as Part of a Proactive Maintenance Approach

Implementing Predictive Maintenance as Part of a Proactive Maintenance Approach

Predictive maintenance is a proactive maintenance strategy that leverages data and analytics to predict when equipment is likely to fail so that maintenance can be performed just in time. This approach helps organizations reduce downtime, minimize maintenance costs, and extend the lifespan of their assets.

Implementing predictive maintenance as part of a proactive maintenance approach requires careful planning and execution. Here are some key steps to consider:

    1. Data collection and analysis: The first step in implementing predictive maintenance is to collect and analyze data from sensors, equipment, and other sources. This data can include information on temperature, vibration, pressure, and other key indicators of equipment health. By analyzing this data, organizations can identify patterns and trends that indicate when maintenance is needed.

    2. Selecting the right technology: There are various technologies available for implementing predictive maintenance, including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound testing, and oil analysis. It is important to select the right technology for your specific equipment and maintenance needs. Consider factors such as cost, accuracy, and ease of implementation when choosing a technology.

    3. Setting up a monitoring system: Once the technology is selected, it is important to set up a monitoring system that continuously collects and analyzes data from equipment. This system should be able to alert maintenance teams when a potential issue is detected so that they can take corrective action before a failure occurs.

    4. Training and education: Implementing predictive maintenance requires a skilled workforce that understands how to use the technology and interpret the data. Providing training and education to maintenance teams is essential for the success of the program. Consider investing in training programs or partnering with experts in predictive maintenance to ensure that your teams are equipped to effectively use the technology.

    5. Continuous improvement: Predictive maintenance is an ongoing process that requires continuous monitoring, analysis, and improvement. Regularly review the performance of the predictive maintenance program and make adjustments as needed to optimize its effectiveness. This may include refining data collection processes, updating technology, or expanding the program to cover additional equipment.

In conclusion, implementing predictive maintenance as part of a proactive maintenance approach can help organizations improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and increase operational efficiency. By following these key steps and investing in the right technology and training, organizations can successfully implement predictive maintenance and realize the benefits of a proactive maintenance strategy.

  • Lakers predicted to part with Dalton Knecht via trade to Jazz

The Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to make another move before the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

However, the organization could surprise the NBA by sending a highly skilled rookie to the Utah Jazz.

“If Rob Pelinka doesn’t continue to be exceedingly stingy at putting winning players around this duo (LeBron James and Anthony Davis), they could make a massive mid-season trade,” Fadeaway World’s Ishaan Bhattacharya wrote Tuesday.

“The Utah Jazz are known to be in the market looking for deals to offload high-quality players, but only if they get a high-quality return.”

“The Lakers don’t want to match the price the Jazz are setting on some of their targets, with the hope that they come off the price.”

“Instead, the Lakers should go all-in on what the Jazz want while maximizing their return, even if it means saying goodbye to Dalton Knecht.”

Bhattacharya’s trade proposal would send Knecht, Rui Hachimura, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and two future first-round picks to the Jazz for Collin Sexton and Walker Kessler.

Entering the 2024 draft, it was clear that Knecht was the most NBA-ready prospect.

The Tennessee product’s calm demeanor in isolation situations, take-over ability late in games, astounding situational awareness, and valuable experience made him a steal for the Lakers at No. 17.

While Knecht has cooled down since his stellar November showing with the Lake Show, he continues to serve as a legitimate scoring threat for JJ Redick and the Lakers off the bench.

The 6-foot-6 wing averages 9.5 points per contest on 46% field goal shooting and 35.9% three-point shooting.

However, a trade for Kessler would give the Lakers an impactful frontcourt asset to assist Anthony Davis in the paint.

Considering Davis is dealing with an abdominal strain and could miss extended time, Kessler could be a game-changing addition to a Los Angeles squad searching for low post depth.

Time will tell if the Lakers swap Knecht for Kessler this season.

More NBA: Warriors may cut ties with Jonathan Kuminga in favor of Pacers’ $40 million star

According to recent NBA trade rumors, the Los Angeles Lakers are predicted to part ways with young forward Dalton Knecht in a trade with the Utah Jazz. Knecht, who was drafted by the Lakers in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft, has shown promise in his limited playing time but has struggled to find a consistent role on a deep Lakers roster.

The Jazz, in need of some additional frontcourt depth, are reportedly interested in acquiring Knecht to bolster their bench rotation. While Knecht has not yet had the opportunity to showcase his full potential in the NBA, the Jazz see him as a player with the potential to develop into a solid contributor in the league.

It remains to be seen what the Lakers would receive in return for Knecht in this potential trade, but it is clear that both teams see value in making a move. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation as the NBA trade deadline approaches.

  • Part 2 to ‘Go Back to the Roots’

The Fast and Furious franchise debuted over two decades ago, and it was initially a street racing film series. Following its immense success at the box office, the films further branched out into different genres like espionage, heists, and conspiracies, but, for the final entry, Fast X: Part Two, they want to go back to basics.

During an interview with Collider to promote her upcoming romantic slasher, Heart Eyes, franchise star Jordana Brewster also addressed the high-octane franchise. The actress, who plays Mia Torreto in the series, made her first appearance in 2001’s The Fast and the Furious, and took a break from the series until the fourth film, 2009’s Fast & Furious, and has starred in every entry since. However, for the end of the franchise, she wants the series to be “gritty” and return to its roots.

Today’s an Incredible Day for Fast & Furious Fans

This action-packed Fast & Furious movie with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker is now on Max.

When addressing the final installment of the billion-dollar saga, Brewster echoed the ongoing sentiment that she wants to return to street racing and a more grounded storyline. “Yeah, big time. I would like to go back to the roots of the first one, kind of like what you were saying with Final Destination.”

She continued, “I think it should be back in LA, I think it should be gritty, and I think Mia should go back to being part of a group that’s kicking some ass.”

She’s going to leave her mommy shoes behind.

Brewster added, “She’s going to leave her mommy shoes behind,” a reference to her child with Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Conner. In the franchise, O’Connor is still alive off-screen, although the late actor passed away when filming 2015’s Furious 7.

Fast and Furious Co-Stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson Share Awkward Moment at the Golden Globes

So, is the feud back on?

Fast X‘s ending introduced the first cliffhanger of the franchise. John Cena’s Jakob sacrificed himself to save Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and his son, Brian, in the fight against the latest villain, Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes. However, he destroys the dam they were on, with Dom and his son having to fight for survival. At the same time, Dominic’s friends, on their way to help, the plane Roman, Han, Tej, and Ramsey were in was shot down. It’s unclear how they will survive.

Mia was not part of the big fight, although she did have a meaningful role at the beginning of the film to protect Dom’s son Brian with Jakob. Following this scene, Brewster’s character fell to the sideline, as her character was originally cut in Fast X. However, there might be more in store for Mia in the final entry. Since she wasn’t on the plane or involved in the fight, she might be a key element in saving Dom and the rest of the group, and going back to basics is exactly what Mia needs to prove her skills.

Vin Diesel Teased the Return to Los Angeles

The Fast and Furious franchise began in Los Angeles. However, the franchise got to film all over the world once it started making huge profits. In the aftermath of the recent wildfire in Southern California, Vin Diesel revealed they’re planning to return to LA, something Brewster herself suggested.

“Last week, during the fires that displaced LA… my sister Jordana reached out to me and said… Please have Universal film the rest of Fast X Part 2 in LA,” Diesel explained in his post, which shows a photo of him hugging Brewster, his on-screen sister. “Los Angeles needs it now more than ever… Los Angeles is where Fast and Furious started filming 25 years ago… and now Fast will finally return home. All love…”

Fast X: Part 2 doesn’t have an official name yet and is expected to premiere sometime in 2026.

Reconnecting with our heritage: Part 2 – Embracing traditions and cultural practices

In part 1 of “Go Back to the Roots,” we explored the importance of understanding our roots and the benefits of reconnecting with our heritage. Now, in part 2, we delve deeper into how we can embrace our traditions and cultural practices to enrich our lives and strengthen our sense of identity.

One way to reconnect with our roots is to actively participate in traditional ceremonies, rituals, and celebrations. Whether it’s observing religious holidays, attending cultural festivals, or engaging in ancestral customs, these practices can provide a sense of belonging and connection to our past.

Another way to embrace our heritage is to learn about our family history and genealogy. By researching our ancestors and understanding their stories, struggles, and triumphs, we can gain a deeper appreciation for where we come from and the values that have been passed down through generations.

Additionally, exploring traditional arts and crafts, music, dance, and cuisine can further immerse us in our cultural heritage. By learning traditional skills and practices, we not only preserve our heritage but also create opportunities to share and pass on these traditions to future generations.

As we continue to go back to our roots, let’s remember the importance of embracing our traditions and cultural practices. By honoring our heritage, we can cultivate a deeper connection to our roots and foster a greater sense of pride in who we are and where we come from.

  • Lions’ Jared Goff part of star-studded bid to bring WNBA team back to Detroit

Detroit wants to bring the WNBA back to the Motor City, backed by an investor group led by the owners of the NBA‘s Pistons and NFL‘s Lions.

Pistons owner Tom Gores submitted the bid Thursday and it was announced Friday. The group includes Sheila Ford Hamp and her husband, the principal owners of the Lions; the chief executive officer and chair of General Motors Company; Hall of Famer and former NBA rookie of the Year Grant Hill; Lions quarterback Jared Goff and his wife; and others.

“For the WNBA, this is home, and our bid represents an unprecedented opportunity for the league to come full circle and effect a long-hoped-for Detroit homecoming,” Gores said in a statement. “No city is more prepared to embrace the team as a community asset that drives unity and common ground.”

The Detroit Shock were one of the WNBA’s first expansion teams, winning three titles between 1998 and 2009. The Shock ranked in the top five for attendance for five straight seasons and led the league in that category for three consecutive seasons. Detroit set a single-game attendance record of 22,076 fans at Game 3 of the 2003 WNBA Finals.

The new team would play at Little Caesars Arena.

“Detroit is a sports town that loves its teams deeply and consistently shows up with unwavering passion,” Gores said. “At a critical moment in the growth and development of the WNBA, it supported the hometown team more than any other franchise in the league. We’re here to rekindle that legacy.”

The bid is also supported by Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan. The bid includes a plan to build a dedicated practice facility and headquarters open 24 hours a day for the WNBA team. That facility would include courts, locker room, workout facilities and office and lounge space. A sports center open to the public would also be developed.

“Michiganders are fired up,” Whitmer said. “Our passion for our teams and players is unmatched, our commitment to our communities remains unwavering, and our vision for women’s sports is crystal clear. My administration stands ready to support this franchise’s success.”

The WNBA is adding three expansion teams in the next two seasons with Golden State, Portland and Toronto joining to boost the league’s franchises to 15. Commissioner Cathy Engelbert has said the WNBA would like to add a 16th team by the 2028 season. Cleveland announced its bid to bring a WNBA franchise back to Ohio last November.

Nashville announced a bid Thursday. The team would be called the Tennessee Summitt to honor the legacy of the late Pat Summitt and three-time WNBA champ Candace Parker is in the investor group along with Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and the chairman of the NHL‘s Nashville Predators. That bid also includes a dedicated practice facility.

The city of Detroit may soon see the return of a WNBA team, and Lions quarterback Jared Goff is playing a key role in the efforts to make it happen. Goff is part of a star-studded group of investors who are working to bring a women’s basketball team back to the Motor City.

After the Detroit Shock moved to Tulsa in 2009, the city has been without a WNBA team for over a decade. But that could change soon thanks to the collective efforts of Goff and other prominent figures in the sports and entertainment industry.

Goff, who was traded to the Lions from the Los Angeles Rams earlier this year, has expressed his excitement about the possibility of bringing professional women’s basketball back to Detroit. He believes that the city’s rich sports history and passionate fan base make it an ideal location for a WNBA team.

The bid to bring a WNBA team back to Detroit is still in the early stages, but with Goff and others leading the charge, there is optimism that a team could be playing in the city once again in the near future. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development! #DetroitWNBA #JaredGoff #Lions #WNBA #DetroitBasketball
