  • Victor Wembanyama will not participate in the Rising Stars Challenge

As many predicted once it was announced that Victor Wembanyama had made the All-Star team, he will not participate in the Rising Stars Challenge. That change has been confirmed by CBS Sports, who announced that along with Wemby (All Star), Jared McCain, Brandon Miller and Derek Lively will also miss Rising Stars due to injury. Their replacements will be Anthony Black, Ausur Thompson, Ryan Dunn and Toumani Camara.

However, the Spurs will still be represented at the event by Stephon Castle, who has moved back into the front runner position for Rookie of the Year after several impressive performances in recent weeks. He will also participate in the Slam Dunk Contest.

Both the Rising Stars and All Star game will follow a mini-tournament format where four teams will face off in a couple of semi-finals games, and the first team to 40 points wins. The two semi-finals winners will then play in the finale, and the first team to 25 points wins. The fourth team for Rising Stars will be comprised of G League players, and the winner of Rising Stars will advance to be the fourth team in the All Star Tournament Game.

All Star Weekend will take place at the Chase Center in San Francisco from Friday, February 14 through Sunday, Feb. 16. Spurs fans can tune in to TNT each day to see their own in action, with Castle in Rising Stars on Friday and the Slam Dunk contest on Saturday, and Wemby (and maybe Castle, if his team wins) in the All Star Game on Sunday.

Victor Wembanyama, the highly touted French basketball prospect, will not be participating in the Rising Stars Challenge this year. Despite his impressive skills and potential, Wembanyama has decided to focus on his development and training with his professional team in France.

Many fans and analysts were hoping to see Wembanyama showcase his talents on a bigger stage during the Rising Stars Challenge, but it seems that he has other priorities at the moment. Regardless, basketball fans around the world will surely be keeping a close eye on Wembanyama’s progress as he continues to make a name for himself in the sport.

While it may be disappointing for some to not see Wembanyama in the Rising Stars Challenge, it’s important to remember that his decision is ultimately in the best interest of his career. With his size, skill, and potential, there’s no doubt that Wembanyama has a bright future ahead of him in the basketball world.

JSU’s Sonic Boom and State of MS to participate in Rose Parade

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – All eyes will be glued to the 2025 Tournament of Roses Parade on Wednesday, with Mississippians entertaining crowds along the parade route.

Jackson State University’s Sonic Boom of the South and Mississippi’s musical legacy appear on the national stage, showing why we’re the birthplace of American music.

“Here on the biggest of stages is an incredible opportunity for us,” said Governor Tate Reeves.

He and the First Family are in Pasadena, California, and will be atop the state float during the 136th Rose Parade.

Adorned with 13,000 yellow roses, it pays homage to Elvis Presley, B.B. King, Jimmy Rogers, and Bobby Rush.

It is a reminder to the world that Mississippi is the birthplace of American music, and bringing live sounds of southern music is Jackson State University’s Sonic Boom of the South.

“I don’t know who all is gonna be in the parade, but I do know who is gonna take the show,” added Reeves.

“It’s an opportunity for us to share with the world what we’ve always known, which is that we have the greatest band in the land, that Mississippi is home, it is the birthplace of music, and that we are maintaining that tradition,” said Dr. Lisa Beckley-Roberts, Chair of Jackson State University’s Department of Music.

Visit Jackson sees this as a chance to showcase the city and state.

“This is a place that we’ve belonged for a long time, but we’re finally taking our place,” said Visit Jackson spokesperson Yolanda Clay-Moore. “We have such a rich culture and tapestry a musical footprint.”

It’s been quite a year for JSU, performing at the Super Bowl in February and now starting the New Year in the Rose Parade.

“A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students and now to cap off this year and to be in California and to be performing at the Rose Parade, we’re all just overwhelmed with gratitude,” added Beckley-Roberts.

The Rose Parade airs Wednesday at 10 a.m. on NBC.

  • Rudy Giuliani wouldn’t ‘participate’ in turning over info in defamation case, ex-lawyers say

Rudy Giuliani wouldn’t ‘participate’ in turning over info in defamation case, ex-lawyers say

Rudy Giuliani’s former lawyers said they quit working for him because he refused to share records and access to cellphone as part of a defamation lawsuit against him, court records show.

Attorneys Kenneth Caruso and David Labkowski wanted out of the job of representing the 80-year-old former city mayor in the case which ended with Giuliani ordered to fork over a whopping $148 million to Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss.

Freeman and Moss are now seeking Giuliani’s assets — including his World Series rings — as part of the massive judgment, but the man once known as America’s Mayor “would not participate” in the case’s discovery process, his former lawyers said.

Rudy Giuliani “would not participate” with turning over required records, his lawyers claimed when they quit working for him. AP

The lawyers’ letter begging off the case was heavily redacted, masking the details of the pair’s behind-the-scenes disagreement with Giuliani, the Trump attorney and disbarred former Manhattan US attorney.

But Manhattan federal Judge Lewis Liman issued a ruling Monday that some of the letter’s redactions should be unsealed to reveal the lawyers’ claims that Giuliani told them “he would not participate in discovery … and that he would not identify or provide access to his electronic devices for purposes of discovery.”

Giuliani has argued his lawyers were to blame for the fact he missed deadlines for to turn over records in the case, which Liman said was contradicted by Caruso and Labkowski’s letter — which must now be unsealed, Law & Crime first reported.

Freeman and Moss have asked Liman to hold Giuliani in contempt for repeatedly flouting court orders, including deadlines.

Giuliani must appear in court on Jan. 3 to explain why he shouldn’t be held in contempt.

A trial has also been set for Jan. 16 over whether his Yankees World Series rings and his Florida home should be handed over to help pay down his debt to the women.

Giuliani and his son Andrew are slated to be the two main witnesses at the trial. Andrew has claimed the women can’t collect the World Series rings since his dad gifted them to him in 2018.

The troubled mayor has already been ordered to relinquish his Mercedes and his Manhattan pad to Freeman and Moss.

At a November hearing in the case, Giuliani exploded at Liman for allegedly unfairly making implications against him.

A jury ordered Giuliani last year to pay the whopping sum to Freeman and Moss for defaming them when he falsely claimed the duo tried to swindle Donald Trump out of a 2020 presidential election victory — which was actually won by Joe Biden.

A spokesperson for Giuliani didn’t immediately return a request for comment Tuesday.

In a recent development, former lawyers of Rudy Giuliani have revealed that the former mayor of New York City would not “participate” in turning over information in a defamation case. This news comes as a surprise to many, as Giuliani has been embroiled in legal battles and controversies in recent months.

It remains to be seen how this refusal to cooperate will impact Giuliani’s legal defense and his overall strategy in the defamation case. Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds.

After the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall made a big change in their lives, moving from Arkansas to Kansas City. The couple switched states in order to continue training with their long-time coach Travis Geopfert, but have been enjoying the change of scenery.

In an interview with Southern Living, Davis-Woodhall revealed the couple would be hosting their family for Christmas in Kansas, saying:

“We are family-oriented people. We love being with our family and this year we’re actually Christmas at our house.”
