  • Paul DePodesta Urged Browns To Pass On Myles Garrett In 2017 Draft

The Cleveland Browns made a rather unorthodox decision when they hired Paul DePodesta in 2016.

They brought in someone with a proven background in a different sport to aid in their decision-making process.

After successful tenures in Major League Baseball, the Browns appointed Paul DePodesta as their Chief Strategy Officer.

From that day on, the fans have mostly questioned his work at that position, oftentimes wondering what he actually does.

He’s expected to provide some analytics-based input on the team’s decisions and roster-building, yet many fans don’t seem to understand what he’s getting paid to do.

That’s why, in his latest mailbag session, one fan asked Browns insider Tony Grossi whether DePodesta has actually made an impactful contribution to the team.

Grossi’s response, however, might not appease the fans:

“DePodesta’s greatest contribution was marrying head coach Kevin Stefanski with GM Andrew Berry. It fulfilled Jimmy Haslam’s directive to have peace and harmony between GM and head coach. To his credit, DePodesta also recommended Sean McDermott as a coaching candidate instead of Freddie Kitchens. On the other hand, he advocated quarterback Mitch Trubisky over Myles Garrett with the No. 1 pick in 2017,” Grossi said.

Of course, one could make a case for the Browns desperately needing a quarterback back then, and Trubisky did look like he would be a successful quarterback at the next level.

Also, he wasn’t the only one who thought the Browns could’ve done better than taking Garrett at the time.

Fortunately, they didn’t listen to his pitch and ended up choosing the future Hall of Famer anyway.

Some fans also hold the Deshaun Watson trade against him as well.

Then again, that seemed like a good deal at the time, at least from a football perspective.

As things stand now, fans might not be necessarily thrilled with what he’s done.

In a shocking revelation, it has been reported that Paul DePodesta, the Chief Strategy Officer of the Cleveland Browns, urged the team to pass on selecting defensive end Myles Garrett with the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. DePodesta, who is known for his analytical approach to decision-making, reportedly had concerns about Garrett's fit with the team's long-term strategy. Instead, he advocated for the Browns to trade down in the draft in order to acquire more picks. Ultimately, the Browns decided to ignore DePodesta's advice and selected Garrett, who has since become one of the team's top players and a key contributor on defense. However, DePodesta's controversial recommendation raises questions about the role of analytics in the NFL draft process and the influence of front office executives on team decisions. It remains to be seen how this revelation will impact the relationship between DePodesta and the Browns organization moving forward, but it is clear that his input has the potential to shape the team's future in unexpected ways. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Sixers’ Joel Embiid, Paul George still out vs Celtics

It’s important to remember in Sixers land that “day-to-day” means at least a week.

The Sixers submitted their injury report for their first matchup in February against the Boston Celtics and not much has changed. Joel Embiid will miss his 15th straight game and Paul George will miss his fourth.

This will mean George will miss at least a week with this finger injury he suffered in Chicago. Despite that, Nick Nurse said he still considers PG “day-to-day.” In his most recent pregame media availability, Nurse indicated that the team’s next practice would give him a good indication of where both guys were at. The team didn’t hold one on Saturday though, just an optional shootaround.

Every time Nurse has been asked about George, he’s implied the team is still trying to figure out how they’ll protect the finger when he’s out there, whether that’s tape, a cast or a splint. It would appear they are still trying to figure that out.

If you can believe it, Embiid’s situation might be even stranger. It was pretty quiet for about a week on his front after the team announced he was once again dealing with swelling in his left knee.

Before their wins against the Lakers and Kings though, he went through a couple of intense pregame warmups, one of which was in full uniform.

Trying to parse through all this information to figure out when these two will play again feels like searching for Big Foot at this point.

There was some good news on the injury report as the team could potentially get some reserves back. Caleb Martin and Andre Drummond have both been upgraded to questionable. Both have missed substantial time in January due to lingering ailments.

KJ Martin remains out with a stress reaction in his left foot, and Jeff Dowtin Jr. and Pete Nance will be out on G-League assignments.

The Philadelphia 76ers will be without star center Joel Embiid and forward Paul George for their upcoming matchup against the Boston Celtics. Both players are still recovering from injuries and will not be available to play in the game.

Embiid, who has been dealing with a knee injury, has missed the last several games and is still listed as day-to-day. George, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, is also not quite ready to return to action.

The absence of these two key players will certainly be felt by the Sixers, as they look to secure a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. However, the team will need to rely on their depth and other players to step up in their absence.

The Celtics, on the other hand, will look to take advantage of the Sixers’ missing stars and secure a crucial win in the competitive Eastern Conference standings.

It will be interesting to see how both teams adjust to the absence of Embiid and George and how the game unfolds without their star players on the court.

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo left furious after scuffle with Chris Paul during Milwaukee Bucks’ defeat against San Antonio Spurs

    CNN
     —

Giannis Antetokounmpo was left furious after a foul by Chris Paul sent him sprawling during the fourth quarter of his Milwaukee Bucks’ 144-118 defeat against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.

With the Bucks 20 points down and just under four minutes on the clock, Antetokounmpo was driving towards the basket, attempting to fend off the Spurs’ defense, when Paul appeared to push the Bucks star who tumbled over and immediately began gesticulating and shouting.

As he approached Paul, a small scuffle broke out between the teams, with security and coaches coming onto the court to intervene before officials called Paul for a common foul.

After the game, Antetokounmpo told reporters that “nothing” happened and it was just a “physical play,” before saying “I don’t know if I was tripped or I was pushed.”

When asked about his reaction, Antetokounmpo said “if you try me, you’re gonna get that different side of me.”

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo drives to the basket against San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama.

“At the end of the day, I think we’re all men. We all respect one another,” he added. “If words cross the line, then there’s got to be consequences. I really don’t say much. I don’t say much to start with, try to play the game the right way.

“But enough is enough. If I feel like you’re putting my livelihood, my career and my body in jeopardy in danger, enough is enough, brother. I have a family to feed, and what makes you laugh can also make you cry sometimes.”

Antetokounmpo had 35 points and 13 rebounds during the game but couldn’t secure the win for the Bucks who were undone by their leaky defense and a brilliant performance by Victor Wembanyama who had 30 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks.

The two stars duked it out from the very start of the game, with Wembanyama blocking two of Antetokounmpo’s shots in the first two minutes. Though Antetokounmpo was eventually able to unleash offensively, Wembanyama retaliated, sinking five three-pointers as he celebrated being named in his first All-Star reserves team.

It also marked Wembanyama’s sixth career game in which he posted at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks, the joint-second most by any NBA player in the last 20 seasons, per ESPN.

San Antonio will next take the court on Saturday to face the Miami Heat, while the Bucks will host the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the reigning NBA Finals MVP, was left fuming after a heated altercation with Chris Paul during the Milwaukee Bucks’ recent loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

The scuffle between the two superstars occurred in the fourth quarter of the game, with tensions running high as both teams fought for the win. Giannis and Chris exchanged words and physicality, leading to a brief but intense confrontation on the court.

Despite Giannis’ best efforts to lead his team to victory, the Bucks ultimately fell short against the Spurs. The frustration of the loss, combined with the altercation with Chris Paul, left Giannis visibly upset and disappointed.

Fans and analysts alike were quick to weigh in on the incident, with many speculating on the cause of the confrontation and its implications for both players and their teams.

As the dust settles on this intense matchup, one thing is clear: Giannis Antetokounmpo is not one to back down from a challenge, and he will undoubtedly use this experience as fuel to come back stronger in the next game.

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo has words with Chris Paul, sounds off on foul

SAN ANTONIO — Milwaukee‘s Giannis Antetokounmpo took exception to a fourth-quarter foul by San Antonio‘s Chris Paul that left the Bucks star on the floor during the Bucks’ 144-118 loss to the Spurs on Friday night.

With 3:46 remaining and the Bucks trailing 131-111, Antetokounmpo caught a bounce pass from Taurean Prince and spun toward the basket as Paul, Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell attempted to defend. Antetokounmpo spun between Sochan and Paul, who appeared to shove Antetokounmpo to the court.

Antetokounmpo landed on his right hip and back and immediately said something to Paul while pointing at him. Teammate Gary Trent Jr. helped Antetokounmpo up after the play, and Sochan walked over to step between Antetokounmpo and Paul. Khris Middleton and Victor Wembanyama pulled Sochan away just as Stephon Castle approached to defuse the situation.

Paul was called for a foul on the play, and after a review, it was ruled a common foul.

Antetokounmpo’s frustration lingered after the game. He waited several seconds near half court for Paul after the final buzzer. The two exchanged words briefly as Paul waited to conduct a postgame on-court interview.

“People that know me, they don’t try me,” Antetokounmpo told reporters after the game. “If you try me, it’s a different side. If you try me, you’re gonna get that different side of me.”

Antetokounmpo initially said “nothing” happened, calling it “a physical play,” before adding, “I don’t know if I was tripped or I was pushed.” He elaborated when asked why he waited for Paul after the game.

“At the end of the day, I think we’re all men. We all respect one another,” Antetokounmpo said. “If words cross the line, then there’s got to be consequences. I really don’t say much. I don’t say much to start with, try to play the game the right way. If I feel like you’re putting my livelihood, my career and my body in jeopardy, in danger, enough is enough, brother. I have a family to feed, and what makes you laugh can also make you cry sometimes.”

After the play, a minor scuffle occurred that was quickly broken up by teammates and security personnel.

“Giannis is as levelheaded as anybody in our league,” Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers said. “So if he was upset at something, I’m going to probably guess something happened.”

The incident somewhat marred a competitive showdown between two of the league’s top international players in Antetokounmpo and Wembanyama.

Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 35 points with 14 rebounds and 6 assists. It was Antetokounmpo’s fourth consecutive game with at least 35 points and 10 rebounds, tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the longest streak in franchise history.

Wembanyama posted his sixth career game with at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks, tying the second-most such games in the past 20 seasons.

    The Spurs made a franchise-record 24 3-pointers, with Wembanyama connecting on 5 of 11.

In a recent game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns, Giannis Antetokounmpo had a heated exchange with Chris Paul and gave his thoughts on a controversial foul call.

During the game, Antetokounmpo and Paul got into a physical altercation, with both players exchanging words and getting in each other’s faces. The tension escalated further when a foul was called on Antetokounmpo, leading to a heated argument between the two players.

After the game, Antetokounmpo spoke out about the foul call, expressing his frustration with the referees’ decision. He emphasized that he felt the call was unjust and that he was unfairly penalized for a clean play.

Antetokounmpo’s outburst against Paul and the referees highlights the intense competition and emotions that can arise in professional basketball. It also showcases the passion and determination that Antetokounmpo brings to the game, as he continues to fight for his team and push back against any perceived injustices.

Overall, the incident between Antetokounmpo and Paul serves as a reminder of the fierce rivalries and contentious moments that can occur in the NBA, adding an extra layer of excitement and drama to the game.

  • Paul brothers to star in new Max reality series

Jake Paul and Logan Paul made social media announcements Tuesday that created widespread speculation the brothers would fight each other, but the teased March 27 event on streaming service Max will be a reality series rather than a boxing match, the streaming service confirmed Thursday.

Calling it the “moment you’ve waited a decade for,” the posts featured a head-to-head shot of the brothers with a March 27 date and the Max logo. The release later elaborated on those posts by specifying that the series, which will feature archival and previously unseen footage of the Paul brothers, will involve eight episodes and its debut season finale will air on May 15.

Jake Paul, 28, and Logan Paul, 29, are both YouTube stars who know how to create buzz. Their exhibitions have drawn the interest of the biggest names in combat sports. Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson in November in an eight-round unanimous decision. Netflix announced more than 108 million viewed the event globally.

Jake Paul and Tyson, the former heavyweight champion, broke records. Promoters said in November that the Tyson-Paul fight was the highest-grossing combat sports event ever in Texas, pulling in $18.1 million. BetMGM said the bout was by far its most-bet boxing or mixed martial arts fight, taking three times the number of bets and four times the money of any combat sports event in its history.

Logan Paul is a part-time performer for WWE. He has been wildly successful in wrestling, having claimed the United States Championship and participated in several premium live events. He also went the distance in a boxing exhibition against Floyd Mayweather in 2021.

A potential fight between Logan Paul and former UFC champion Conor McGregor will not happen. McGregor said in December that he was in “preliminary agreements” with the family of billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani to fight Logan Paul in India. However, he said this week the UFC would not grant him permission.

The Associated Press and ESPN’s Brett Okamoto contributed to this report.

Get ready for a whole new level of entertainment as the infamous Paul brothers, Jake and Logan, are set to star in a thrilling new reality series on Max. • Jake Paul announces next opponent

    Jake Paul vs. Logan Paul?

The brothers jointly announced it Tuesday on social media, describing it as, “The moment you’ve waited a decade for.”

But there’s mounting speculation − and good reason to believe − this will not be an actual boxing match.

The post from the brothers on X, formerly Twitter, indicates the event will be streamed March 27 on Max.

More information is expected Thursday that likely will clarify the nature of the event.

It is not listed on BoxRec, which charts sanctioned professional and amateur fights. BoxRec does not list exhibitions.

A prospective fight between Logan Paul and Conor McGregor has failed to materialize and Jake Paul has yet to announce his next fight since beating Mike Tyson on Nov. 15 by unanimous decision.

  • WWE’s Logan Paul Set To Star In Reality Show On The Same Service That Streams AEW

Earlier this week, Logan Paul sent out a cryptic graphic of himself and his brother Jake (via X) alongside the caption “The moment you’ve waited a decade for… March 27 on [MAX].” Naturally, many fans assumed this post to be an indicator of an upcoming fight between the brothers. As revealed in a Warner Bros. Discovery press release, it was rather a teaser for a new reality series.

The series, titled “Paul American,” will be a MAX original, with its premiere date set for Thursday, March 27. From there, the weekly series will chronicle the lives of Logan and Jake Paul across eight episodes up until its series finale, which is penciled in for May 15. Footage will show a mix of never-before-seen and archival content.

“Everyone thinks they know Jake and Logan Paul – they’re the original superstars of influencer culture and built their brand on being unfiltered. But PAUL AMERICAN goes deeper,” said Nina Rosenstein, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming. “This show uncovers a side of their relationships we’ve never seen, as brothers, sons, partners, as well as Logan’s transition into fatherhood. It’s a raw and unexpected look into their world.”

Initially rising to fame on social media, both Logan and Jake have since expanded their brands to the sports world as well, with Jake venturing into professional boxing. Logan did the same while also joining professional wrestling as a WWE Superstar. In WWE, Logan has notably won the United States Championship; he’s challenged for a world title on multiple occasions as well.

In addition to “Paul American,” MAX is a home to All Elite Wrestling’s weekly shows, “AEW Dynamite” and “AEW Collision,” which simulcast on the streaming platform as well as TBS and TNT, respectively. AEW and WWE have been rival companies since the former’s launching in 2019.

Logan Paul, the controversial YouTuber turned WWE star, is set to star in his own reality show on the same streaming service that airs rival wrestling promotion AEW.

The news comes as a surprise to many fans, as Paul has been a polarizing figure in the wrestling world since his debut in WWE earlier this year. However, it seems that the streaming service is willing to take a chance on the social media star and capitalize on his popularity.

The show is said to follow Paul’s life both inside and outside the wrestling ring, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the man behind the persona. It will also feature appearances from other WWE superstars, as well as some surprise guests from the world of entertainment.

While some fans are excited to see more of Paul, others are skeptical about the show and how it will affect his wrestling career. Only time will tell if this venture will be a success for the controversial star.

Stay tuned for more updates on Logan Paul’s reality show and how it will impact the wrestling world.

  • Triple H to bring back icon after 636 days at WWE Royal Rumble for eliminating Logan Paul? Exploring the possibility

Royal Rumble is WWE’s first premium live event of the year, which officially kicks off The Road to WrestleMania. It is the spectacle where legends rise and icons return. This year’s show is stacked with several star-studded names and one of them is Logan Paul. Triple H could bring back a celebrity megastar to the extravaganza, someone who could end up being Paul’s worst nightmare.

Bad Bunny could make his highly anticipated return at the Men’s Royal Rumble Match this year. The pop culture icon last appeared in WWE at the Backlash 2023 Premium Live Event in May. In a shocking turn of events, he could show up as a surprise entrant in the Rumble match this Saturday in Indianapolis and go on to eliminate Logan Paul from the contest.

The speculation of it happening arose due to what transpired between the two a few weeks ago. During an interview with Rolling Stone, Bad Bunny expressed his desire to return to WWE for a match. The Maverick responded to it, asking the Puerto Rican star to get in the ring with him. Since then, fans have also been clamoring to see the two megastars compete in a match.

There is a good possibility that Royal Rumble could be the place where WWE might sow the seeds of their potential WrestleMania match. Bad Bunny eliminating Logan Paul from the 30-Man Rumble Match and crushing the latter’s dream of headlining The Show of Shows could mark the onset of their rivalry. WWE can use this angle to build up a blockbuster match.

Check out which wrestler EC3 finds cute RIGHT HERE

However, the abovementioned angle is speculation at this point. Will the WWE Universe see Bad Bunny’s return after 636 days at Indianapolis this weekend? Only time will tell.

Triple H to put Logan Paul in a jaw-dropping moment at Royal Rumble?

Over the years, Royal Rumble has witnessed several intriguing moments that left fans utterly stunned. Whether it’s Kofi Kingston’s bizarre survival instincts from getting eliminated or superstars pulling off record-breaking eliminations, fans have seen almost everything.

WWE could be planning for something similar this year with Logan Paul in the spotlight. The Maverick is known for his high-flying actions, which often leave fans speechless. During the match, there could be a moment when he might be on the verge of an elimination. However, the 29-year-old could somehow land outside the ring without his feet touching the ground.

Following that, Logan Paul could pull off a jaw-dropping move, potentially a long high-flying jump from a point outside the ring to the ring to avoid an elimination. Besides, he could also create a new record of being the longest survivor in the history of the Men’s Royal Rumble Match.

Regardless of what happens, the social media megastar is likely to do something that would grab eyeballs. It will be interesting to see what unfolds this Saturday at Indianapolis when 30 WWE Superstars will battle to punch their tickets to WrestleMania 41.
