“I want you to know that you are here tonight because you are a hero or you are a loved one of a hero,” he told the audience from the stage.

He continued, “And I knew the moment I was watching this go down all the way in Tennessee in my house, I thought if I got a chance to go to California I was gonna play music to everyone who worked their ass off for the last 2 months trying to keep the rest of this place safe. Thank y’all for having me tonight – this is awesome!”

  • Why Does Benson Boone Backflip When He Performs?

Ahead of his performance at the 2025 Grammys, there’s one question on everyone’s minds: Is Benson Boone going to backflip onstage? Chances are, yes — it’s somehow become the “Beautiful Things” singer’s signature move during live performances. But here’s the second question we’re all thinking… why?

Benson Boone has spent the past year and a half performing at the biggest global festivals, opening for Taylor Swift during the London dates of the Eras Tour, and hitting cities and countries around the world on his headlining world tour, supporting the release of his debut studio album Fireworks & Rollerblades. At nearly each of these performances, it seems as though Boone has made it tradition — or rather, trademark — to do a backflip during or after his set.

The acrobatic habit seems to be deeply embedded in the singer’s lore. In 2021 after auditioning for American Idol season 19, Boone did a roundoff into a back handspring in celebration after judge Katy Perry told him, “I see you winning American Idol if you want to.” (Watch the clip here.)

    Benson Boone flipping onstage

Since then, Boone has flipped his way to a Best New Artist nomination at the 2025 Grammys. He completed his most recent successful flip — in a black lace and lycra jumpsuit — at the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala at the Beverly Hilton on Grammys Eve (February 1, 2025)… which means that was likely his warmup for his big Grammys stage debut backflip.

Boone has steadily made headlines for his backflips at major events, like when he famously stunned Sabrina Carpenter after backflipping off of a grand piano at the 2024 MTV VMAs.

He flipped at Norway’s Slottsfjell Festival 2023. He flipped at Lollapalooza 2024. He also flipped at both weekends of Austin City Limits 2024. He flipped at a special 2024 Grammy Museum spotlight event held in his honor at L.A. Live. He flipped at a Spotify event in Cannes in June 2024. He flipped at Neon Festival 2024 in Norway, too. He literally flips everywhere.

Benson Boone is known for his energetic and captivating performances, and one of the standout elements of his shows is his signature backflip. But why does Benson Boone incorporate this daring move into his performances?

One reason could be to create a memorable and impactful moment for his audience. The backflip is a visually stunning move that grabs the attention of viewers and leaves a lasting impression. By including this acrobatic feat in his performances, Benson Boone is able to wow his fans and add an extra level of excitement to his shows.

Another possible reason for Benson Boone’s backflip could be to showcase his athleticism and skill as a performer. The backflip requires strength, agility, and coordination, and by executing this move flawlessly, Benson Boone demonstrates his talent and dedication to his craft.

Additionally, the backflip may serve as a way for Benson Boone to express himself and add a personal touch to his performances. By incorporating this unique and impressive move into his shows, he is able to showcase his individuality and make his performances stand out from the rest.

Overall, Benson Boone’s backflip is not only a thrilling and visually captivating element of his performances, but also a way for him to connect with his audience, showcase his talent, and add a personal touch to his shows. It’s clear that this daring move is a key part of what makes Benson Boone such a dynamic and unforgettable performer.

Fans were quick to praise LiAngelo for his breakout performance, with many calling for him to be signed to a long-term contract with the Lions. His performance not only silenced his critics but also proved that he is a force to be reckoned with in the league.
