Brooklyn Nets vs Philadelphia 76ers preview: Nets play first home game in 2025

Back home, and back with a victory. The Brooklyn Nets did their very best to trick their lead off against the Milwaukee Bucks, but they did just enough to hang on and win by three points. Funny how that goes sometimes.

The opponent tonight is in a bad rut. The Philadelphia 76ers are back on the East Coast after a truly disastrous close to the West Coast part of the road trip. After melting down the night before against the Sacramento Kings, the Sixers were embarrassed on national TV by the Golden State Warriors as they lost by 34 points on Thursday night.

    Where to follow the game

YES Network on TV. WFAN on radio. Tip after 6 PM.

    Injuries

No Maxwell Lewis, Bojan Bogdanovic, or Trendon Watford. Cam Johnson sprained his ankle in the final seconds of Thursday’s game and is officially doubtful. Cam Thomas and Noah Clowney are both questionable.

Jared McCain is out for the season due to an ACL tear. KJ Martin is out due to a stress reaction in his left foot. Kelly Oubre Jr is doubtful with a left hand sprain. Joel Embiid is questionable with a left foot sprain + his right sinus fracture.

    The game

Philadelphia won the first meeting in November.

It’s Kids Day at Barclays! The kids heading to the game this evening will be getting themselves a cool lunchbox!

It’s the first home game of 2025, and D’Angelo Russell’s first home game back with the Nets. Russell had a good first run with Brooklyn in the mid 2010s and is off to a good start in his return. Russell gives the Nets a solid lead guard option and someone who can heat up and keep the offense afloat when they get into ruts.

The 76ers still have championship expectations, but injuries have made that dream as far away as ever. They still have time to fight their way back into the playoffs, but it won’t be easy.

It’s going to be fascinating to watch Tyrese Maxey tonight. He’s generally been excellent but like all of his teammates, had a terrible outing on Thursday night. How bad? I’ll let my main man Kyle Neubeck of All PHLY explain:

“Thursday’s first half featured three of the worst layup misses I have seen from Maxey in his career. We have grown used to watching role players like Caleb Martin smoke layups with nobody contesting the shot, but Maxey is normally someone you can count on to make the freebies. Not so in this one, and unfortunately, those open or open-ish layups represented a pretty big chunk of his shot attempts.

I am also growing a bit tired of listening to and watching him complain about calls that he is never going to get. You lot are allowed to be upset that one of “your guys” can’t seem to catch a break, but there is no grand conspiracy against Maxey as a player that prevents him from getting calls. He ends up on the baseline looking up to the sky and the refs over and over again, and it’s because he does not initiate contact well enough to draw fouls. Teams have found effective ways to defend him inside the arc because he is limited as a passer, making it easier to time rotations and contests accordingly.”

Yeesh. Great players tend to bounce back after awful outings, so the Nets will need to be on high alert. To Kyle’s point, Maxey is shooting a surprisingly low 57 percent inside the restricted area this season on close to six shot attempts a game. The Nets rim protectors will (probably) have their hands full with Joel Embiid, so it’ll be interesting to see how Brooklyn handles Maxey.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Nets operate if Johnson misses this one. Last time he missed a game, Jalen Wilson stepped up and filled in for him. If Clowney is able to suit up, that’ll give the Nets another frontcourt option to work with. With tonight being the first date of a three game homestand, we’ll see how Jordi Fernandez manages the rotations in the likely event of Johnson’s absence.

    Player to watch: Paul George

The thing with PG is he can either be a great number one option or a great number three option. Anything in between and you’re asking for trouble. Unfortunately for Sixer fans, trouble has found them as George has been unable to establish a truly solid role this season. His numbers are down across the board and the three point shooting is especially concerning. PG has only made 33.6 percent of his threes, the lowest since his rookie season in 2010-2011. Simply put, they need a lot more from him if they want to break into the top six and beyond.

Cam Thomas should be back, and the Nets can always benefit from his scoring punch. His minutes have been in the 20s since his return, and figure to be around that number tonight. Thomas does a great job of driving to the basket, and that will come in handy against a Sixer team that allows teams to shoot 69.9 percent inside the restricted area, third highest in the NBA this season. Combine that with Philly flying cross country and this being the last night of their six game road trip, and you have all the makings of a Thomas scoring explosion.

    From the Vault

I’ve heard the Luther Vandross documentary CNN produced is excellent, so I’m gonna need to get around to it one of these days. In the meantime…

  • Saquon Barkley’s respect for Derrick Henry – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Saquon Barkley’s respect for Derrick Henry – NBC Sports Philadelphia

As Saquon Barkley explained the emotions he was feeling after the end of his record pursuit this week, he was asked about winning the rushing title in 2024.

    Not so fast.

“I gotta be careful what I say because Derrick (Henry) can still get that, you know what I mean?” Barkley said. “He’s a special player and you can’t count him out of anything.”

It’s clear that Barkley has a ton of respect for Baltimore’s Derrick Henry, who enters Week 18 with 1,783 rushing yards. Henry is 222 yards away from Barkley so it’s obviously a long shot as the Ravens get ready to play the Browns, but Barkley isn’t counting Henry out.

Barkley actually spoke with Henry on Wednesday. Two of the best running backs in the NFL have grown close. They were rooting for each other this offseason in free agency as they moved on from their former teams and they’ve been rooting for each other throughout this historic season.

When it was brought up to Barkley, who hit 2,000 rushing yards on the season last week, that the first eight members of the 2K Club have failed to get back to that mark, he quickly mentioned King Henry.

Henry finished with 2,027 yards back in 2020 with the Titans and this is now the second-best season of his incredible career.

“Derrick Henry could do it,” Barkley said.

Then it was brought up that Henry was 217 yards shy of 2,000 for the 2024 season.

“I’m not gonna lie, I knew that number,” Barkley said. “I talked to him today. He was talking to me to see if I was going to get [the record]. Obviously, the news came out that I’m sitting. I told him you could do something special too. Be the first one to do it twice. You never know.”

    Get a paw up there

Jalen Carter has the ability to wreck games. You see him beat double-teams, knife into the backfield, hit quarterbacks and take down running backs. All the things that garner acclaim.

But there’s another thing Carter has been exceptionally good at in 2024.

He’s batting down passes at a really high rate. After he didn’t have a single pass breakup as a rookie in 2023, Carter has batted down six passes this season. His sixth came on Sunday against the Cowboys and he nearly swatted the ball into the arms of teammate Nolan Smith.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said that ability is just “innate” in some players.

“Yeah, he’s got a knack for it,” Fangio said. “That’s usually what it is. Some guys have a knack for it. He seems to have a knack for it. It’s been good.”

Carter has his own theory on why he’s been so good at batting pass.

“I think that’s from when I played offense in high school,” he said. “I’m used to running routes, little drags down the middle and stuff, catching the ball. Usually when I’m rushing and I see it’s not going to be a rush where I can get a sack or something, I can real a quarterback’s eyes and I can tell where somebody is coming behind me and I can get my hand up.”

Carter’s six batted passes are second among defensive tackles in the NFL this season behind just Cameron Hayward, who has eight. And this is the most batted passes for any Eagles DT since at least 1999.

Trevor Laws batted 5 passes in 2010, Darwin Walker had 5 in 2003 and the most Fletcher Cox ever had in a season was 3 in his rookie season in 2012. Carter has more batted passes this year than the rest of the Eagles’ DTs combined: Jordan Davis (2), Thomas Booker (1), Milton Williams (1).

    Opportunity for Tanner

You’ll hear a bunch of people call Sunday’s Week 18 game against the Giants “meaningless.” And from a playoff seeding perspective, it is.

But this game has plenty of meaning for the backup Eagles who will get a rare chance to show their ability in a regular season game. The top guy on that list is third-string quarterback Tanner McKee, who will make his first NFL start.

“This is my chance to play a significant amount of snaps, reps, and to go out and show what I’ve been working for this whole year,” McKee said. “Obviously, been putting in a ton of work for myself on the practice field and different things like that. I feel like I can showcase that and I’m super excited for the opportunity.”

The Eagles drafted McKee in the sixth round out of Stanford last season and have been developing him since. Last week against the Cowboys, McKee made his NFL debut in relief of the injured Kenny Pickett and played well. McKee completed 3 of 4 passes for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns. His only incompletion was a great ball to A.J. Brown in the end zone but Brown wasn’t able to keep his feet in bounds.

McKee, 24, said this is a big opportunity to show his team and the rest of the league what he can do. It’s also a chance for a big confidence-boost.

Even though McKee has barely played all year, he thinks he has improved as a quarterback.

“I feel like almost having another season under my belt with the offense, just feeling more comfortable,” he said. “Everything’s happening second-nature with different checks or where your eyes should be. Just not thinking as much, being able to see the defense, look off guys or just confirm things a little quicker with your eyes.”

    Harnessing Sydney Brown’s aggression

From the first play last Sunday against the Cowboys, Eagles second-year safety/special teamer Sydney Brown wasn’t afraid to mix it up with the opponent in a chippy game.

Eventually, Brown was tossed in the fourth quarter for body-slamming a Cowboys player in the tunnel after two Cowboys went after him.

“Unfortunate that it ended up with a brawl, but that’s just something we make a learning experience for Sydney,” Eagles special teams coordinator Michael Clay said. “When the whistle blows, so he doesn’t put anybody else in a bad predicament going forward. When you have a guy like Sydney Brown you’re not going to take away his tenacity. You got to make a learning point to hone in that emotion after the play stops just so you don’t put anybody else in a bad spot.”

The week before, starting safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was ejected against the Commanders. And you can also toss in defensive tackle Jalen Carter as a player who routinely plays up to (and sometimes slightly over) the line of aggression.

It’s about finding that balance. But Clay definitely appreciates the edge and emotion that Brown brings to special teams.

“Sydney does it through a physicality standpoint, especially on the outside,” Clay said. “So he does bring an edge. You always want your guys to back each other up. I think they do a good job on special teams of backing each other up and trying to get out of those dustups and make sure we don’t lose anybody going forward.”

    Developing talent in the NFL

Nick Sirianni always talks about the developmental periods the Eagles hold after practice for their younger players. So as they get ready to play a game where a lot of those guys are going to play, he was asked more about those developmental periods.

Sirianni said that Frank Reich had similar practice periods in Indianapolis when Sirianni was an offensive coordinator and the Eagles had done it before he arrived too. So it was a no-brainer to keep doing them.

    Sirianni on Friday explained why.

“It’s just so important,” Sirianni said. “When you’re on the scout team and you’re not getting a lot of the reps with the starters, then you don’t rep your plays, right? You’re doing what a card says. It’s a lot different running a play when you hear it in the huddle and have to go process it and go do it, one of our plays, as opposed to looking at a card, ‘Do this.’ It’s just different. We’ve got to try to put them in positions to develop.”

While Sirianni said he didn’t want to give away all of their methods to develop talent, he did offer one more detail. On Friday or Saturday — it’s up to the position coach — those scout team players have an extra meeting to go over their practice reps. The Eagles have to always prepare their starters to play but they want to keep bringing along their backups too.

In a recent interview with NBC Sports Philadelphia, Saquon Barkley opened up about his respect for fellow running back Derrick Henry. Barkley praised Henry’s work ethic, physicality, and ability to dominate on the field.

Barkley, who is known for his own explosive playing style, spoke highly of Henry’s impressive performance in the 2020 season, where he rushed for over 2,000 yards and won the NFL rushing title.

“He’s a beast out there. The way he runs through defenders and makes big plays happen is truly inspiring,” Barkley said. “I have a lot of respect for his game and the way he approaches every matchup.”

The two running backs have faced off on the field before, with Henry’s Tennessee Titans coming out on top in their most recent meeting. Despite the competition, Barkley expressed admiration for Henry’s skillset and the impact he has on the game.

“It’s always a battle when you go up against a player like Derrick. He’s a force to be reckoned with, and I have nothing but respect for him,” Barkley added.

As both players continue to make their mark in the NFL, it’s clear that Barkley holds Henry in high regard both on and off the field. Fans can expect to see more explosive performances from these two talented running backs in the seasons to come.

  • What to expect – NBC10 Philadelphia

What to expect – NBC10 Philadelphia

The new year is starting out with a one-two punch of winter weather in the Philadelphia region as we brace for another round of snow on Monday.

We saw some light snow on Friday, Jan. 3 that caused slippery roads during the evening commute and we will see bitter cold over the weekend before Monday’s storm.

    Léelo en español aquí

A bitter cold and windy weekend

Saturday, we’ll see a blast of cold air with highs in the low 30s and wind chills that will make it feel like the low 20s.

Sunday will be a little warmer but still cold with temperatures in the mid-30s during the day.

A bigger snowstorm on Monday, Jan. 6

The second chance for snow is the one to watch more closely: A potential nor’easter is developing late Sunday night and Monday.

This storm system could bring our first significant snowfall of the season, though the exact track remains uncertain.

The storm is expected to move in between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Monday and continue through the morning and afternoon before tapering off around 5 p.m.

As of Friday, the models are showing the following snow totals for Monday:

Philadelphia, surrounding suburbs – 3 to 5 inches

The Lehigh Valley – 1 to 3 inches

Delaware and South Jersey – 5 to 8 inches

These snowfall amounts could change if the storm tracks farther north. We will continuously update the estimated snowfall maps from now until Monday.

    Preparing for the storm

Local hardware stores were doing what they could to be prepared for the winter storms.

Audubon Hardware in Camden County, New Jersey, got 19 pallets of rock salt on Thursday, Jan. 2.

“People are starting to come in now. A lot of people are going to wait and see if it does really snow,” Audubon Hardware’s Glenn Hare told NBC10. “It’ll be crazy.”

Another 17 pallets of calcium arrived to Audubon Hardware on Friday, Jan. 3 so the store could stay stocked.

Meanwhile, Fairmount Hardware in Philadelphia has shovels, ice scrappers and bags of salt stocked and ready to go.

“We definitely get busy. Everyone in the store gets excited. It’s a lot of work but it’s also a lot of fun,” Fairmount Hardware’s Andy Siegel said.

Road crews and hardware stores are geared up for the snow, but have you tested your snow blower yet? NBC10 Delaware Bureau reporter Tim Furlong caught up with one local small business helping customers with repairs and rentals ahead of the snow.

Suburban Lawn and Equipment in Stanton, Delaware, said they’re getting lots of calls from people looking for very last minute repairs to their snow blowers. Their biggest suggestion is to use fuel stabilizer and start it once a month throughout the year to keep it from dying on you between storms.

“As funny as it sounds, if you start your snow thrower up once a month in the off season and let it run for five or ten minutes it will save you time and money,” Anthony Petruccelli, of Suburban Lawn and Equipment said.

    Drivers urged to use caution

    Delaware

DelDOT is preparing to fight to keep the roads safe for drivers and are urging everyone to stay home if they can late Sunday and into early Monday.

“If you don’t have to be out especially Sunday night into the early hours of Monday please just let our crews work and we will get the roads cleared and get everyone back out as quickly as possible,” C.R. McLeod, of DelDOT, told NBC10.

    Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the state’s Turnpike Commission issued a statement on Friday, Jan. 3 telling drivers to avoid unnecessary travel during Monday’s snow storm.

Speed and vehicle restrictions will be instituted during the storm, officials said. Crews will be out treating the roads before the storm hits to prevent ice from forming.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — After some early showers Friday evening, the weekend is calm before Monday’s snowstorm.

PennDOT will ready to make sure the roads are safe.

“For Monday, I expect to call in all of our contractor trucks, which puts us up over 420 or trucks in the five-county region,” said PennDOT spokesperson Brad Rudolph.

Officials are urging residents to plan ahead, stay off the roads if conditions worsen, and look out for parking restrictions in snow emergency routes.

“The longer it takes for them to run their routes, depending on traffic and the intensity of the storm, we could see some serious accumulations on Monday,” Rudolph said.

    Latest forecast

    • Snow arrives between 4 a.m. to 7 a.m

    • Light, but steady snow falls during the daylight hours

    • Snow ends around 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

    • There will be a very tight snowfall gradient across our area from less than 1″ in the Poconos to over 6″ in parts of Delaware and South Jersey.

Lou Muth has owned the business for 25 years and is used to preparing for winter weather.

How crews are preparing for Monday’s snowstorm

“The demand is obviously for snow, shovels, ice melt-and heat. Electric heaters, propane, anything to do with weather. The plumbing department is way up with pipes freezing, all that stuff,” said Muth.

Atlantic City leaders said they’re preparing for a worst-case scenario of 6 to 8 inches.

“The city of Atlantic City will have the proper staffing and equipment. We have been coordinating with the police our EMS crews, our ambulance people, the fire department,” said Atlantic City OEM Coordinator and Fire Chief Scott Evans.

Police have four-wheel drive and military surplus vehicles ready to go and plan to get the homeless to shelters.

“I want to ensure the residents of Atlantic City that the city is prepared,” said Atlantic City Marty Small Sr.

‘Measurable’ snowfall expected for Philadelphia area next week

Is a Philly snow day on the way? FOX 29’s Weather Authority is tracking a winter storm that is expected to bring the region’s first “measurable accumulation” of the white stuff.

Friday evening will see the first traces of snow with a clipper system bringing light snow, in the amount of an inch or areas of possible two inches in South Jersey, before clearing out for a dry and cold weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Philadelphia and areas in South Jersey beginning on 3 p.m Friday through 10 p.m.

Another round of snow will kick off next week, beginning after midnight Monday, and lasting throughout the day.

How much snow is expected where you live?

Monday’s winter storm is moving south to north, which means higher totals are likely Philadelphia and points south, while north and west of Philly, into the Poconos, will see less snow this time around.

Here are the snow total predictions as of Thursday night:

    • Philadelphia: 4 to 6 inches
    • Wildwood: 4 to 6 inches
    • Dover: 6 to 8 inches
    • Poconos: A little more than an inch

Fox 29’s Weather Authority Scott Williams says this may become a “plowable snow event.”

The numbers, along with the storm’s timing, will likely change over the next couple of days. Check back for the latest forecast.

  • Snow in Philadelphia possible today, more forecast for Monday weather

Snow in Philadelphia possible today, more forecast for Monday weather

As the Philadelphia region remained under a winter weather advisory for possible rush hour snowfall Friday, forecasters continued to look toward what stands to be a more impactful storm Sunday into Monday.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly’s advisory for Southeastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey, and northern Delaware was slated to remain in effect from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Forecasters expect a coating to about an inch of snow, though localized amounts in some areas could approach two inches, said Nick Guzzo, a meteorologist with the weather service.

Due to the timing of the storm, commuters may see their drive home impacted by slippery road conditions. PennDot, meanwhile, has been monitoring weather conditions, and sent out trucks early Friday to brine major roadways in the Philadelphia area — such as interstates 476, 76, 422, and 95 — to help with traction should slippery conditions develop, spokesperson Robyn Briggs said.

“We would like to remind motorists to please slow down,” amid possibly slick road conditions, Briggs added. “Slowing down is probably your best friend out on the roads in inclement weather.”

The weather service expects Friday’s snow to move out of the area around 9 or 10 p.m., after which temperatures are expected to drop into the mid to low 20s. That cooling trend will continue through the weekend, with highs in the mid-30s.

A likely second round of snow is expected to arrive in the area late Sunday, according to the weather service. Forecasters remained unsure of exactly how much snow might fall, and where precisely larger totals would occur, but at least some “light to moderate” accumulation is likely, with a potential for more significant impacts compared to Friday, Guzzo said.

That system, according to the weather service’s Friday afternoon forecast, is likely to bring roughly two to four inches of snow to the region before departing late Monday. Where the heaviest bands of snowfall will set up, however, remains uncertain.

» READ MORE: Snow day or virtual learning? With wintry weather in the forecast Monday, how will school districts decide?

Either way, with temperatures expected to fall to highs in the mid-30s in the coming days, we’re likely to see whatever snow we get between Friday and Monday stick around for quite a while.

“It’s going to stay on the colder side, so I wouldn’t expect too much melting between” potential snowfalls, Guzzo said.

PennDot, Briggs, said, is also preparing for the snow forecast to come Sunday into Monday. Crews will be dispatched early Sunday morning in advance of that storm, and they will again brine roadsprior to the expected snowfall, Briggs said.

The PennDot district that covers the Philadelphia region has 182 trucks capable of preparing the area’s roadways for winter storms. If needed, the agency can also access an additional 250 trucks as part of its relationships with area contractors, Briggs said.

“You never know what the weather will bring,” she said.

  • Philadelphia 76ers Downgrade Veteran vs Portland Trail Blazers

Philadelphia 76ers Downgrade Veteran vs Portland Trail Blazers

As the Philadelphia 76ers approach their Monday night game on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers, they have a crowded injury report. After initially leaving the veteran Kyle Lowry off the report when it was released on Sunday night, the Sixers downgraded the guard.

According to the official NBA injury report, Lowry is dealing with hip soreness. As a result, the Sixers are approaching their matchup with the Blazers, describing Lowry as questionable.

While Lowry has been healthy for most of the season, he has missed a handful of games at time throughout the year.

Lowry’s latest absence came on December 13, when the Sixers hosted the Indiana Pacers. The Sixers fell short by 14 points in that outing. Lowry returned to the court in the following game and hasn’t missed any action since.

During this current stretch, Lowry is seeing the court for roughly 16 minutes per game. He’s shooting just 31 percent from the field and 33 percent from three while posting averages of two points, two rebounds, and three assists per game. In all six games, Lowry held a role off the bench.

This season, Lowry has seven absences. He missed a stretch of games in November, wrapping up his string of absences before December’s run started.

In the 22 games Lowry played this year, he’s averaged four points on 36 percent shooting. Attempting three shots from three per game, Lowry is connecting on 35 percent of his shots from deep.

Along with Lowry, the Sixers are questioning the statuses of Joel Embiid, Eric Gordon, and Andre Drummond. Meanwhile, Justin Edwards, Jared McCain, and KJ Martin are ruled out of the Monday night action in Portland.

The Sixers and the Blazers are set to tip at 10 PM ET.

The Philadelphia 76ers made a surprising move today, opting to downgrade their veteran player in their matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. This decision comes as a shock to many fans and analysts, as the veteran player has been a key contributor to the team’s success in recent games.

While the specific player has not been named, it is clear that the 76ers are looking to shake things up and potentially give younger players more playing time. This move could be a gamble for the team, as they will be facing a tough opponent in the Trail Blazers.

It will be interesting to see how this decision plays out on the court and if the 76ers can still come out on top without their veteran presence. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • Light snow, then nor’easter possible in Philly region – NBC10 Philadelphia

Light snow, then nor’easter possible in Philly region – NBC10 Philadelphia

We have two chances for snow in the coming days in the Philadelphia region and surrounding suburbs, and we’re keeping a close eye on both.

Light snow possible on Friday, Jan. 3

The first chance arrives Friday afternoon with a weak low-pressure system bringing scattered snow and rain showers.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Philadelphia, South Jersey and central and northern Delaware on Friday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The National Weather Service says a total of one to two inches of snow is expected to fall.

As precipitation increases, the temperature is expected to drop to around freezing by 5 p.m.

Drivers should expect slippery road conditions during the Friday evening commute as brief, heavy bands of snow fall across our region.

Expected snowfall totals to reach over an inch in some areas on Friday

The snow should be done falling by mid-evening before much colder air moves in for the weekend.

Potential nor’easter on Monday, Jan. 6

The second chance for snow is the one to watch more closely: A potential nor’easter is developing late Sunday night and Monday.

This storm system could bring our first significant snowfall of the season, though the exact track remains uncertain.

If the storm stays farther south, snowfall amounts will likely be minimal north of Philadelphia, while areas from Philadelphia south through Delaware and South Jersey could see shovelable snow.

However, if the storm tracks farther north, it could bring more moisture into the region.

With cold air in place across all neighborhoods, this scenario could mean widespread snowfall.

In that case, we might not just need shovels, but possibly snow blowers and snow plows as well.

We’re monitoring this system closely and expect more clarity as the storm approaches. It’s a good idea to get prepared now—check your snow equipment and stay tuned for updates.

    Preparing for the storms

The first of two forecasted snow storms is expected on Friday afternoon and local hardware stores are stocking up to help keep neighbors prepared. NBC10’s Johnny Archer reports.

Local hardware stores are preparing for the upcoming winter storms.

Audubon Hardware in Camden County, New Jersey, got 19 pallets of rock salt on Thursday, Jan. 2.

“People are starting to come in now. A lot of people are going to wait and see if it does really snow, maybe Monday or tomorrow. Then they’ll come in. It’ll be crazy,” Audubon Hardware’s Glenn Hare told NBC10.

Another 17 pallets of calcium are scheduled to arrive on Friday to prepare for the winter weather forecasted.

Download the NBC10 app and follow the NBC10 First Alert Weather Team to get the latest weather updates.

Winter weather is on the horizon for the Philadelphia region, with light snow expected to fall in the area before a potential nor’easter strikes. According to NBC10 Philadelphia, residents should prepare for the possibility of significant snowfall and strong winds in the coming days.

The light snow is forecasted to begin falling in the next 24 hours, with accumulations expected to be minimal. However, the real concern lies with the potential nor’easter that could bring heavy snow and gusty winds to the area.

It’s crucial for residents to stay informed and be prepared for changing weather conditions. Make sure to stock up on essentials, such as food, water, and batteries, in case of power outages. Stay tuned to NBC10 Philadelphia for the latest updates and advisories on this impending winter storm. Stay safe and stay warm, Philadelphia!
