  • See wildfire benefit concert lineup information with Billie Eilish, Joni Mitchell, Phish, more – Daily News

A pair of FireAid benefit shows arrive Thursday, Jan. 30 with artists such as Billie Eilish, Joni Mitchell, Sting and Green Day as part of the star-studded lineups at Intuit Dome and the Kia Forum in Inglewood.

FireAid was the first big benefit announced after fires in Altadena and Pacific Palisades killed at least 28 and destroyed thousands of structures across wide swathes of those communities.

They’ll likely be the biggest shows, too. But they are far from the only benefit concerts in Southern California, as almost every day another is announced in venues large and small, with artists well known or not.

On Monday, Jan. 27, as this story was just beginning, word came of the latest. The G*VE A (Bleep) LA benefit concert and auction will bring together musicians including Jenny Lewis, Hayley Williams of Paramore, St. Vincent, Finneas, and Fred Armisen for a night hosted by actor John C. Reilly. Proceeds will go to local organizations including the Pasadena Humane Society, Altadena Girls, Friends in Deed, and One Voice.

Produced by Irving and Shelli Azoff and family, with LiveNation and the Los Angeles Clippers as sponsors, the show begins at 6 p.m. at the Kia Forum and 7:30 p.m. at Intuit Dome. It will also be simultaneously live-streamed on many different platforms. For details see Fireaidla.org.

  • Drew Carey Dances, DJs & Has Best Time Ever at Phish Concert (VIDEO)

Drew Carey Dances, DJs & Has Best Time Ever at Phish Concert (VIDEO)

The Price is Right host Drew Carey embraced his inner Phishhead on New Year’s as he joined the festivities at Phish’s New Year’s Eve concert at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden.

The beloved host took to Instagram on January 1 to reveal he attended the psychedelic rock band’s four-night concert in the Big Apple. Not only that, but he also unveiled his alter ego, “DJ Blender,” who performed a Phish-themed DJ set at the gig’s afterparty.

“DJ Blender in the house! @phish #drewsmoothies – and thank you to the fan who walked all the way across the pit to give this to me. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!” Carey wrote alongside a photo of himself in Madison Square Garden holding up a Drew’s Smoothies sticker.

The Instagram account JamBase also shared a video of Carey busting a move to Phish’s classic track “Carini” while wearing an “I Don’t Know The Price of Anything” t-shirt.

“Love that Drew Carey has fully embraced the @phish experience,” the account wrote alongside the video.

Meanwhile, the Live For Live Music Instagram page posted a clip of Carey (aka DJ Blender) spinning the decks at the Phish afterparty. “Drew Carey has gone all in on Phish after Sphere, spotted getting down in the crowd at MSG and DJing afterparties this New Years’s run,” the account wrote.

Carey has spoken about his love for Phish in the past, revealing he became obsessed with the band after seeing their Las Vegas show at The Sphere.

“I swear I just talked to God,” the Drew Carey Show star wrote on X back in April alongside a video of the concert. “I would give you all my money, stick my d*** in a blender and swear off p***y for the rest of my life in exchange for this. Bro I met God tonight for real. I feel like I just got saved by Jesus no lie.”

He continued his explicit review when he appeared on CBS’ After Midnight earlier this year, telling viewers, “So I saw Phish at the Sphere this weekend. Never saw Phish, didn’t know a Phish tune. And they f****** blew my mind off so hard. I thought to myself, I had a bunch of girls with me, and I thought to myself, ‘Is this what it’s like to c** with a p***y?’”

“It was like being edged for four days straight,” he added. “And right before the face-melting climax at the end of the fourth day, an angel comes down from heaven, Gabriel, and he shoots f****** heroin in your arm… and then you have an orgasm for 15 minutes while your eyeballs fall out of your head.”

Phish enjoyed Carey’s NSFW praise so much that they sent him a signed blender, saying they hoped he would “enjoy this gift” and inviting him to another show.

Fans loved seeing Carey embrace his newfound Phish fandom and took to social media to share their reactions to his appearance at the MSG concert.

“I love Drew Carey more every day,” wrote one fan on the Price is Right Reddit forum.

“Phish looks good on you, sir,” added an Instagram commenter.

“Congrats on getting your face melted at your first New Years show!” added another.

Another wrote, “Genuinely happy for him. Everyone deserves to get down with the get down.”

“The price is right so just hold tight,” quipped another.

Others praised Carey’s appearance, with one fan noting, “God, his suits really hide just how much weight he’s lost.”

“Good for him. He looks fantastic!” said another.

  • Drew Carey Surprises Phish Fans With ‘DJ Blender’ Set At New Year’s Eve After-Party [Video]

Drew Carey Surprises Phish Fans With ‘DJ Blender’ Set At New Year’s Eve After-Party [Video]

A new chapter in the Drew Carey/Phish saga was written on New Year’s Eve as the Price Is Right host surprised fans by throwing down a DJ set under the pseudonym “DJ Blender” during an after-party following Phish’s fourth and final night at Madison Square Garden.

Carey’s DJ name is a playful nod to his unlikely bond with Phish, which began earlier in 2024 when he saw the band for the first time at Sphere. His reaction to the show went viral after he shared a very… uh… enthusiastic review that included an unforgettable, if graphic, comment: “I swear I just talked to God,” he said. “I would give you all my money, stick my dick in a blender and swear off pussy for the rest of my life in exchange for this.”

Phish responded by jokingly sending him a blender signed by the band, and Carey later showed up to a Mike Gordon show, blender in hand. Much to everyone’s relief, it was just a sausage that he stuck in the appliance.

Keen-eyed fans immediately recognized the name “DJ Blender” among the Phish NYE after-party lineup, though CEG Presents kept his identity under wraps. Come New Year’s Eve, Carey was spotted at Madison Square Garden rocking out amongst the crowd wearing a shirt that read “I don’t know the price of anything.” He later confirmed fans’ suspicions when he stepped up to the decks and DJ’d a surprisingly dope set at Hill Country along with Tad Cautious, host of Phish festival radio station The Bunny, and DJ Cooley.

drew carey, drew carey phish, drew carey blender, drew carey dj blender
[Screengrab via Drew Carey on Threads – Carey at Phish’s New Year’s Eve show at Madison Square Garden]

Carey’s love of electronic dance music is well documented. He even recounted a bad trip he had at Electric Daisy Carnival on Comedy Central‘s This Is Not Happening. Ironically, though, it was Phish who went full EDM on NYE during the band’s traditional gag set, while Carey got funky during his DJ set. Clips posted by guitarist Joe Marcinek show Carey boogying down while spinning Lettuce‘s “Sam Huff’s Flying Raging Machine”.

Having experienced his first YEMSG run after clearly enjoying his introduction to Phish at Sphere, fans can be pretty certain they will see more of Drew Carey at future shows. Hopefully DJ Blender will make an appearance again too.

On New Year’s Eve, Phish fans at Madison Square Garden were in for a special treat as Drew Carey surprised them with a ‘DJ Blender’ set at the after-party. The beloved host of The Price is Right took the stage and spun an eclectic mix of tunes, blending various genres and keeping the crowd dancing all night long.

Carey’s unexpected DJ set was a hit with fans, who were thrilled to see him behind the turntables. The multi-talented entertainer showcased his skills and kept the energy high as he mixed tracks and kept the party going well into the early hours of the morning.

Check out the video below to see Drew Carey in action as he surprises Phish fans with his ‘DJ Blender’ set at the New Year’s Eve after-party. It’s safe to say that everyone in attendance had a night to remember thanks to Carey’s infectious energy and killer music selection. Cheers to a memorable start to the new year!

  • Go phish! Scammers target FasTrak system users with threatening texts

Go phish! Scammers target FasTrak system users with threatening texts

A phishing text message warning of a legal threat and financial penalties has been hitting users and even non-drivers of Los Angeles County’s Metro ExpressLanes.

The spam has led to a flood of complaints from Metro ExpressLanes users, who have been calling the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority seeking verification and advice, Metro authorities have noted.

Metro officials said they posted a warning about the fraudulent text messages on their homepage as soon as they became aware of the scam.

“The ExpressLanes system has not been hacked, and no customer information has been compromised,” the message said.

Metro ExpressLanes are restricted lanes on the 10 and 110 freeways that motorists can use to speed past traffic on regular lanes. Users pay tolls that are based on dynamic pricing that adjusts according to the level of traffic. The tolls are collected through a FaTrak transponder mounted on a vehicle’s dashboard.

Metro could not confirm how many messages have been sent out, the number of complaints they received or when they believed messages were first sent.

“Metro ExpressLanes reminds customers that we never send text messages asking for sensitive information or requesting payment,” a statement from Metro read. “If a text message claims to be from Metro ExpressLanes regarding tolls or violations, do not respond to the message, do not use any links in the message, and do not use any contact information provided in the message.”

The Federal Trade Commission classifies phishing as a type of scam in which targeted users receive a communication such as an email or text message that appears to be from a well-known source, such as a company or agency.

The message asks the user to enter personal information that the scammer will use to open a bank account, for instance, or cause some other financial harm to the individual scammed.

The FTC also asks consumers to avoid responding to the messages.

The scam messages in question have been telling receivers to pay their FasTrak bill by a specific date in order to “avoid excessive late fees and potential legal action on the bill.”

A phishing link is provided that should not be clicked on.

In several cases, the phone number from which the text message originates is multiple digits longer than a US-based 10-digit number.

Metro officials have said they believe the scammers have been targeting individuals through various area codes and have been hitting FasTrak drivers and non-users alike.

There are 25 miles of ExpressLanes throughout the 10 and 110 freeways, according to Metro. There are also 1.6 million transponders assigned to county drivers with 342.1 million trips made this year, as of early November.

However, the FasTrak pass can be used outside of Los Angeles, such as on the 405 Freeway in Orange County, the 10 Freeway in San Bernardino County, the 15 Freeway, which cuts through San Bernardino and Riverside counties, and several other express lanes.

As for the scams, they’ve hit motorists in various areas from San Francisco in March to Sonoma County in April and San Diego in July.

State Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta issued a statement on July 1, urging Californians not to click on the link in the texts.

“Scammers are often quite literally in our pockets, just a text away,” Bonta said. “Text-based toll charge scams are on the rise and knowing what to look for is an important way to keep consumers safe against these tactics.”

Attention all FasTrak users! Beware of scammers targeting the FasTrak system with threatening texts. These scammers are attempting to phish for personal information by sending messages claiming that your FasTrak account is in jeopardy and that you must click on a link to verify your information.

Remember, FasTrak will never ask you to verify your account information via text message. If you receive a suspicious text, do not click on any links or provide any personal information. Instead, contact FasTrak directly to report the scam.

Stay vigilant and protect yourself from these phishing attempts. Don’t fall for the bait – go phish!
