2025 NBA mock draft: First-round intel, 59 pick predictions

The 2025 NBA draft continues to look stronger by the day, as the top of the class is solidifying with each of the projected top-five candidates delivering serious fireworks in January and February. Cooper Flagg, who is exceeding expectations with outstanding productivity for Duke, is the headliner, with Rutgers freshmen Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey and Baylor standout VJ Edgecombe flashing significant talent as well.

An important final month of the college regular season looms as scouts want to see if players can finish strong and perform under pressure in some of the biggest games of their careers heading into conference tournaments and the Big Dance.

The first- and second-round order was generated by ESPN’s BPI forecast, which predicts how well all 30 NBA teams will perform during the rest of the season.

Notes: The draft order, as updated through Monday morning, reflects picks owed and owned via trades. True shooting percentage (TS%) is a formula that blends field goal percentage with free throw shooting and 3-point shooting into one catch-all ratio.

  • College Basketball Odds, Pick for Colgate vs Lehigh on Monday

The first game on Monday’s college basketball odds board tips at 6 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network) with Colgate taking on Lehigh.

I can’t imagine bettors will be falling over themselves to sweat this low-profile college hoops matchup, especially with No. 3 Iowa State vs. No. 11 Kansas anchoring today’s slate.

However, that doesn’t mean Colgate vs. Lehigh should be ignored altogether because according to Action PRO’s premium picks and betting tools, the wiseguys aren’t passing on it either.

Below is the college basketball pick drawing smart money for Colgate vs. Lehigh on Monday evening.

College Basketball Odds, Sharpest Pick for Colgate vs. Lehigh

    *Odds as of Monday morning

Based on live college basketball odds, Colgate is a 3.5-point favorite against Lehigh, and the over/under is 141.5.

Additionally, 94% of early spread tickets have been on the underdog while the over has landed 81% of the bets wagered on the total.

College Basketball Odds, Pick for Colgate vs Lehigh on Monday

In a highly anticipated matchup on Monday, Colgate will face off against Lehigh in college basketball action. Both teams have been performing well this season, making this game a must-watch for fans and bettors alike.

The odds for this game are currently favoring Colgate, with the Raiders being listed as a -4.5 point favorite. This indicates that the oddsmakers believe Colgate has a slight edge in this matchup.

When it comes to making a pick for this game, it’s important to consider both teams’ recent performances. Colgate has been on a hot streak, winning their last five games in a row. Their offense has been firing on all cylinders, averaging over 80 points per game during this stretch.

Lehigh, on the other hand, has had a more up-and-down season. While they have shown flashes of brilliance, they have also struggled at times, particularly on the defensive end.

Given Colgate’s recent form and offensive firepower, I’m inclined to give them the edge in this matchup. I believe they have the potential to cover the spread and come out on top against Lehigh on Monday.

    Prediction: Colgate -4.5

Make sure to tune in to watch this exciting game and see if Colgate can continue their winning streak against Lehigh. Good luck to both teams!

  • Pelicans looking to pick up pieces without Dejounte Murray | Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans’ upcoming road trip was going to be difficult even with Dejounte Murray.

A pair of games against the Denver Nuggets on Monday and Wednesday. Then a game at the Sacramento Kings Saturday followed by a trip the following Monday to face the Oklahoma City Thunder, the top team in the Western Conference standings.

Now the trip — and what’s left in one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history — becomes even harder to navigate without Murray, who ruptured his right Achilles tendon in Saturday’s loss to the Boston Celtics. Murray is out for the season.

“It’s extremely difficult when you see a guy who means so much to our team and puts the work in,” said Pelicans’ coach Willie Green. “It’s tough. These are the challenges we’ve been going through pretty much all season.”

Murray will finish the season having played in just 31 games in his initial  season in New Orleans. Brandon Ingram has played in just 18 games. Zion Williamson has played in only 13 games. And Herb Jones, just 20.

That’s three of the Pelicans’ four starters who have missed over half the team’s 49 games.

“It sucks, man,” said guard Jose Alvarado. “We’ve been through so many injuries. I haven’t ever seen this in high school or college. I ain’t ever seen it. It’s sad. Unfortunately, it’s us, right?”

After Murray’s injury in the first quarter Friday, the Pelicans continued to battle against last season’s NBA champions. The game wasn’t decided until Boston’s Jayson Tatum hit the game-winner with 0.2 seconds left. Murray’s injury was motivation.

“At the end of the day, this is a game that you love,” said Trey Murphy. “A lot of time you use this game to escape a lot of stuff. It’s like therapy. … I definitely felt like it was on me to play for him and to give my best to not let him down.”

Murphy finished the night with a season-high 40 points. Green would love nothing more than for Murphy to continue putting up the type of numbers he has the last two games when he has averaged 36 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Pelicans are 13 games out of 10th place in the Western Conference standings, so any chance of making the playoffs are bleak. Despite that, Green still expects his team to play hard.

“These guys are resilient and high character,” Green said. “They work at it and they care.”

Sandwiched in the middle of this road trip is Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, which could change the roster even more. But for now, the biggest change is the loss of Murray.

“A tragic injury like that is bigger than basketball,” Alvarado said. “We’ve got to push forward and keep positive energy going.”

After losing out on the opportunity to sign Dejounte Murray, the New Orleans Pelicans are now looking to pick up the pieces and continue building their roster for the upcoming season.

Murray, who ultimately decided to re-sign with the San Antonio Spurs, was a top target for the Pelicans in free agency. However, with him off the table, the Pelicans are shifting their focus to other potential acquisitions.

The Pelicans are in need of a reliable point guard to lead their team, and they are exploring their options in the trade market and free agency. They are also looking to add depth to their frontcourt and improve their overall defense.

Despite missing out on Murray, the Pelicans remain optimistic about their chances of building a competitive team for the upcoming season. Stay tuned for updates on their roster moves as they look to pick up the pieces and move forward without Dejounte Murray.

  • 2025 NFL mock draft: Miller’s pick predictions in Rounds 1-2

I spent time over the past two weeks at the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl all-star events, watching top 2025 NFL draft prospects in action. There were some clear risers, including players who could get picked in the first two rounds. So I’m projecting where the best players in the class — including 22 Senior Bowl participants — could land with a full mock draft of Rounds 1-2.

Yes, there’s still a lot of time for changes. The combine later this month will shuffle draft boards, and NFL free agency in March will alter the needs of each team. Pro days and countless interviews come after that as we count down to Round 1 on April 24. But this is where things stand at the moment. The top 30 picks of the draft order are set, but I based the order for Nos. 31-32 here on my personal prediction for Super Bowl LIX.

  • Tulsa vs Tulane prediction, pick, college basketball odds

ClutchPoints is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way connected to any sportsbook. Gambling is not offered on this website in any form.

It’s time to continue our College Basketball odds series with a Tulsa-Tulane prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Tulsa-Tulane.

The conference slate in college basketball on Sunday includes this AAC game in New Orleans. Tulane is in fifth place in the AAC. The Green Wave therefore have a very specific and important incentive attached to this game individually and to their next several weeks of AAC competition. They want to get a top-four seed for the AAC Tournament so that they get an early-round bye and therefore have to win fewer games at the conference tournament in order to win the event and get the league’s automatic berth to March Madness. Tulane has won three of its last five games, which is hardly remarkable on any larger level, but which rates as better than most of the league in a five-game span. All the teams below Tulane in the AAC standings have at least four conference losses and are no better than .500 in league play. Tulane is 5-3, a modest record and yet good enough to be solidly in the top half of the conference. A win here would affirm Tulane’s position in the upper tier of the AAC and would give the Green Wave reason to believe they can be a factor at the conference tournament one month from now.

Tulsa is struggling in AAC play. The Golden Hurricane have lost three of their past four games. The crusher was an overtime loss to East Carolina. That’s the kind of 50-50 game an average team needs to be able to win in order to gain confidence in tense, high-pressure situations and evolve in ways which can transcend a team’s talent level. Tulsa has not been able to play better than its talent level. The team scored just 56 points in a loss to South Florida immediately preceding that East Carolina loss. It’s a domino effect in which one near miss leads to another.

Here are the Tulsa-Tulane College Basketball Odds, courtesy of FanDuel

    College Basketball Odds: Tulsa-Tulane Odds

    Tulsa: +9.5 (-108)

    Moneyline: +365

    Tulane: -9.5 (-112)

    Moneyline: -490

Why Tulsa Will Cover The Spread/Win

Tulane is not a bad team, but should the Green Wave be favored by nearly 10 points against anyone? Tulsa struggles to win, but the Golden Hurricane have been legitimately and robustly competitive this season. It’s just that they don’t finish games as well as they can. Staying close to opponents, however, has not been Tulsa’s main problem. The Golden Hurricane have played a number of recent games decided by single-digit margins. If the final margin of this game is a single-digit margin — anything under 10 points — Tulsa will cover the spread here. That is a basic, obvious reason to ride with Tulsa in this game.

Why Tulane Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Green Wave are clearly better than Tulsa. They are playing at home. They have been in better form than Tulsa over the past five games, with a better record against better competition. One of Tulane’s recent losses was to Memphis, a really good team and an NCAA Tournament lock. Tulsa’s recent losses have not even included a game against Memphis. Tulane, having lost to Memphis, went up against elite athletes. Tulsa’s athletes, by comparison, will be a lot more ordinary. Tulane, playing at home, should be able to dictate this game and how it is played at both ends of the floor.

    Final Tulsa-Tulane Prediction & Pick

Tulane is the better team, but we are not sure the Green Wave are 10 points better than Tulsa. Our lean is to Tulsa, but we’re not going to trust the inferior team in a matchup to deliver for us in a spread bet. There are better games and better options for you on the Sunday card in college basketball. You can take a pass on this one.

    Final Tulsa-Tulane Prediction & Pick: Tulsa +9.5

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will face off against the Tulane Green Wave in a college basketball showdown. Both teams are looking to secure a win in this matchup, but only one will come out on top.

In terms of predictions, it’s hard to say who will emerge victorious. Tulsa has shown strength on both offense and defense, with players like Brandon Rachal leading the way. However, Tulane has also had some impressive performances, with Jaylen Forbes standing out on the court.

As for a pick, I would give a slight edge to Tulsa in this game. They have a slightly better record and have shown more consistency throughout the season.

In terms of college basketball odds, Tulsa is currently favored to win by a narrow margin. However, anything can happen in basketball, so it will be interesting to see how this game plays out. Be sure to tune in to see who comes out on top in this exciting matchup between Tulsa and Tulane.

  • Trump FBI Pick Kash Patel Made More Than $2.6 Million Last Year

    • Kash Patel, Trump’s nominee to be FBI director, is worth more than $5.9 million.
    • He made more than $2.6 million last year from consulting, paid speeches, and books.
    • His clients included Truth Social, one of Trump’s PACs, and the Embassy of Qatar.

Kash Patel, President Donald Trump’s nominee to be the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, made more than $2.6 million last year.

According to a financial disclosure obtained by Business Insider ahead of its public release, Patel’s income came from a mix of consulting work, paid speeches, media appearances, and the proceeds from several books.

His total net worth is more than $5.9 million, according to a document filed with the Senate Judiciary Committee. All of Trump’s nominees are required to file public financial disclosure reports as they are considered by the Senate.

The bulk of Patel’s income, more than $2.1 million, came from consulting work. Trump Media and Technology Corp, the company that runs Truth Social, was among his clients. A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission showed Patel’s annual compensation was $120,000, though his contract ended in March 2024.

Pam Bondi, Trump’s nominee for attorney general, has also been financially tied up with Truth Social, holding more than $3.9 million in stock in the company as of December.

Patel also listed Save America, Trump’s leadership PAC, as a client, along with the Embassy of Qatar and several other organizations.

He earned $306,000 last year from a series of paid speeches and media appearances, including $99,000 as a contributor to the Epoch Times and $20,000 for a May 2024 interview on “Our Watch With Tim Thompson.”

Writing books also proved to be lucrative for Patel. He earned between $100,000 and $1 million in royalties for his 2023 book, “Government Gangsters,” and between $45,000 and $150,000 for his “The Plot Against the King” children’s book series.

He also owns Elite Depot, a “fashion management company” based in the Cayman Islands, which is worth between $1 million and $5 million. A spokesperson for Patel did not immediately return a request for comment regarding the organization’s purpose.

Patel’s assets also include up to $100,000 in bitcoin, up to $250,000 in Nvidia stock, and up to $100,000 in Palantir stock. In 2024, he earned $8,000 in director’s fees from VK Integrated Systems, a weapons company.

Patel is among Trump’s most controversial nominees, owing to questions about his conduct during Trump’s first term, his promotion of conspiracy theories, and his extreme rhetoric.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer identified Patel this week as a nominee that Democrats believe they may have a shot at defeating. His first confirmation hearing took place on Thursday.

Read Patel’s full financial disclosure below:

Former Trump administration official Kash Patel, who was recently appointed as the chief of staff to the new FBI director, reportedly earned more than $2.6 million last year, according to financial disclosure forms.

Patel, who previously served as a top aide to Rep. Devin Nunes and on the National Security Council under President Trump, disclosed earnings from multiple sources, including consulting work, speaking engagements, and investments.

Critics have raised concerns about Patel’s financial ties and potential conflicts of interest, especially given his new role at the FBI. Some have questioned whether Patel’s lucrative earnings could influence his decision-making and priorities at the bureau.

The appointment of Patel, a staunch Trump loyalist, has also sparked controversy among lawmakers and watchdog groups, who have called for greater transparency and oversight in the hiring process for key positions in the federal government.

As Patel settles into his new role at the FBI, the public will be closely watching to see how his financial interests and political allegiances may impact his work at the nation’s top law enforcement agency.

Illinois vs. Ohio State prediction, picks

    Odds via SportsLine consensus

Ohio State has been outstanding during its winning streak. The comeback win on the road against Purdue fueled blowout wins over Iowa and Penn State. This matchup against Illinois will be arguably Ohio State’s toughest challenge during that stretch. This game will come down to guard play between Ohio State’s Bruce Thornton and Illinois’ Kasparas Jakučionis. Illinois wins this game behind a big day from Jakučionis and snaps Ohio State’s win streak. Pick: Illinois -6.5

Illinois vs. Ohio State: Where to Watch College Basketball Game

The highly anticipated matchup between the Illinois Fighting Illini and the Ohio State Buckeyes is set to take place on Saturday, March 6th at 4:00 PM ET. Fans can catch all the action live on CBS.

Heading into this game, the odds are in favor of Ohio State, with a spread of -4.5 points. The Buckeyes have been on a hot streak recently, winning four of their last five games. However, the Fighting Illini are not to be underestimated, as they have also been playing well, with a record of 18-6 overall.

In terms of predictions, this game is expected to be a close one. Both teams have talented players and strong coaching staffs, making it anyone’s game. That being said, I predict that Ohio State will come out on top in a close matchup.

So, make sure to tune in to CBS on Saturday to catch all the action as Illinois takes on Ohio State in what is sure to be an exciting college basketball game.

It’s a box office battle Sunday morning when Manchester City and Arsenal face off at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal has had little success against Manchester City since Mikel Arteta took over as manager in 2019, winning just one game and losing seven with two ties.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City seemingly has Arsenal’s number, but the Gunners come in playing well in the early season.

Arsenal is unbeaten in 13 straight games, winning eight and drawing in five.

    Manchester City vs. Arsenal prediction

The Cityzens clinched a playoff berth with their win over Club Brugge (3-1) on Wednesday in what has otherwise been a tumultuous season.

Injuries have plagued the team, as they lost star midfielder Rodri in September and they will not have their most reliable center defender, Ruben Dias, for this game as he recovers from a groin injury.

Nathan Ake could also miss this game as their team is a bit of a shell of themselves, although their backups in John Stones and Manuel Akanji form more than a formidable defense back there.

They will still have superstar striker Erling Haaland leading their attack with 24 goals.

Manchester City has done well in recent weeks, having also gone unbeaten in six straight and recently defeating Chelsea in the Champions League.

Few will disagree that the Cityzens are talented and getting them at a price like this is very intriguing.

History aside, Manchester City is the side to target this weekend as they have averaged three goals per game and have an elite attack that could give Arsenal fits Sunday.
