Bo Bassett recruiting update: Micah Parsons gives Penn State pitch to top wrestling prospect
Dallas Cowboys star and Penn State alum Micah Parsons made his pitch to No. 1 wrestling recruit Bo Bassett Sunday.
With news that Bassett will announce his decision early this week, Parsons made a last ditch effort to try and convince Bassett to come wrestle for the Nittany Lions. Basically, Bassett would add generational talent to the already No. 1 Penn State wrestling team.
Parsons, a noted college wrestling fans especially of his alma mater, clearly wants Bassett to don the classic PSU singlet.
“After seeing Penn state domination it can’t be any other choice!!! We have the best environment and wrestling room in the country! That’s facts! Come join the greatest legacy ever created!!,” Parsons wrote on Twitter.
Bassett is MatScouts’ No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 and one of the most sought after prospects in recent memory. Recently, Bassett won his third Ironman title, this time at 144 pounds and had tech falls over six straight opponents.
As a reminder, here was the schedule of visits for Bassett throughout his recruitment:
Sep 20-22: Michigan
Oct 25-27: Iowa
Nov 1-3: Penn State
Nov 8-10: Ohio State
Nov 15-17: Virginia Tech
Nov 22-24: Oklahoma State
Jan 24-26: RutgersThe top prospect’s visits have been watched with close eyes as Bassett could be seen as a program changer, along with younger brothers Keegan Bassett (2028) and Melvin Miller (2027). All of them wrestle for Bishop McCort (Pa.), which is considered one of, if not the top high school wrestling team in the country this year.
Other top prospect Jax Forrest, who’s No. 2 pound for pound, is Bassett’s teammate. He revealed his top 10 schools back in September, but has not eliminated nor provided a recent update as he goes about his visits.
“Some wrestlers don’t like this process, but I can honestly say I am really enjoying it,” Bassett said in a previous newsletter. “My view is, I only get to do the recruiting process once, so I am going to enjoy it and have fun with it. I sometimes like to do things different and hope everyone likes these updates.
“When I was in elementary school, I would have done anything to follow along with Spencer Lee, Jason Nolf or Zain Retherford recruiting process.”
Bo Bassett, the top wrestling prospect in the nation, is receiving some high praise from a fellow Penn State standout. Micah Parsons, a star linebacker for the Nittany Lions football team, recently gave his pitch to Bassett about joining the Penn State wrestling program. In a recent interview, Parsons spoke highly of the wrestling program at Penn State and the opportunities it provides for student-athletes. He highlighted the strong coaching staff, the winning tradition, and the supportive community at Penn State.
Parsons also emphasized the benefits of being a student-athlete at Penn State, pointing to the world-class facilities, academic support, and networking opportunities available to student-athletes.
With Bassett being one of the most sought-after wrestling recruits in the country, it’s no surprise that Penn State is making a strong push to land him. And with Parsons’ endorsement, it’s clear that the Nittany Lions have a compelling pitch to offer the talented young wrestler.
It remains to be seen where Bassett will ultimately decide to take his talents, but with the backing of Micah Parsons and the Penn State wrestling program, the Nittany Lions are certainly in a strong position to land the standout prospect. Stay tuned for more updates on Bo Bassett’s recruitment process.

#Bassett #recruiting #update #Micah #Parsons #Penn #State #pitch #top #wrestling #prospectBam Adebayo isn’t sugercoating his recruiting pitch to other players – Hot Hot Hoops
The Miami Heat are still trying to navigate Jimmy Butler’s tumultuous situation, but he’s no longer the hottest name on the trade market. Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox, who’s in the fourth year of a five-year, $163 million deal, is. Though the most likely outcome is that Fox ends up in San Antonio, his preferred destination.
Fox is a former college teammate of current Heat big Bam Adebayo, who he has a very good relationship with. Adebayo was recently asked about his recruiting pitch to other players–and there’s zero beating around the bush.
“The thing is I’m telling you the whole truth. It’s not a recruiting pitch to me,” he said, according to Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald. “I’m telling you the truth. You’re going to get here, you know what it is. There is no BS, there is no, ‘I’m going to get my numbers.’ No, no, no. This is team basketball here. We’re going to play both sides of the basketball. So that’s 82 games, plus playoffs. I’m not sugarcoating anything. You make your decision from there.
“To me, if I consider you like family like De’Aaron, I’m not going to lie to you. You’re getting a coach that’s not going to let you go below your standard and sometimes that does get annoying. Sometimes that does rub you the wrong way. But it’s a coach that expects more out of you because he sees something. When you have a coach like that, you can’t take that for granted. There have been many coaches in some organizations that they’re there for a season. How are you supposed to bank equity with a coach who’s only there for a season, two seasons? You can’t really hone in and become something when it’s like that. For us, we got a coach that’s going to be here for a very long time that really cares about winning, but also cares about us.”
The Heat haven’t landed a big-time free agent since Kyle Lowry, who agreed to a three-year, $87 million deal ahead of the 2021-22 season. That was more Butler than Adebayo, however, as Butler and Lowry were close friends.
It’s worth appreciating how Adebayo isn’t afraid to tell other players like it is so they know what they’re walking into. Sure, most “recruiting pitches” involve plenty of sunshine pumping and telling you only about the good stuff; it’s a sales pitch. You don’t oftentimes hear the bad in the sales pitch.
But I would rather the captain tell me the truth–from the good, bad and ugly. That’s the sign of a very good captain. If you tell me how it is before we talk into the trenches, the same will be the case once we’re in it together.
Zero organization is perfect, but the Heat has been one of the most successful franchises since the turn of the century, barring none. They’ve had unheard-of organizational stability for the last 30 years and it’s held to three titles and seven Eastern Conference Titles, even though they haven’t climbed over the mountain top in over a decade.
Players talk. Adebayo has a strong rapport around the NBA. And given his status, players who ask about the vaunted #HEATCulture are going to listen, for better or worse. Don’t expect him to sugarcoat, however.

Bam Adebayo isn’t pulling any punches in his recruiting efforts for the Miami Heat. In a recent interview with Hot Hot Hoops, Adebayo made it clear that he is not going to sugarcoat his pitch to potential teammates.“I’m not going to sit here and tell guys that it’s all sunshine and rainbows in Miami,” Adebayo said. “We work hard, we push each other, and we hold each other accountable. But at the end of the day, we win games and we have fun doing it.”
Adebayo’s no-nonsense approach to recruiting has already paid off, as the Heat have added several key players to their roster in recent years. And with Adebayo leading the charge, it’s clear that Miami is poised for even more success in the future.
So if you’re a player looking for a team that values hard work, accountability, and winning above all else, look no further than the Miami Heat. Bam Adebayo and his teammates are ready to welcome you with open arms.

5.0Fans of Kylian Mbappe’s Ligue 2 club launch pitch invasion amid threat of relegation – after warning Real Madrid star they are not his ‘toy’
- LISTEN NOW: It’s All Kicking Off! Why the Arsenal players will be laughing at Mikel Arteta behind his back
Ultras of the Ligue 2 club which Kylian Mbappe owns stormed the pitch on Friday night after a seventh consecutive defeat in all competitions.
Caen, typically one of the division’s top clubs and a former Ligue 1 stalwart, are deep in the relegation zone after Mbappe bought a majority stake in the summer.
Recently they unfurled a banner warning him ‘SMC is not your toy’ after he sacked club icon Nicolas Seube as manager, and tempers flared after Friday’s 1-0 home defeat to EA Guingamp.
Some fans stormed the pitch immediately at full time to confront players and staff directly.
Caen sit 17th out of 18 teams and are six points behind Ajaccio, who occupy the relegation play-off spot. Their last win in the league was on November 2.
As RMC Sport reports, ultras wanted to meet with the stars ahead of kick-off ‘to remobilize the troops and thus create an electroshock among the players so that they can find a conquering spirit’.
SM Caen’s fans have been protesting against Kylian Mbappe’s ownership of the Ligue 2 club
But, as they shared in a statement: ‘For several matches, too many players have not honored the motto “Normans and conquerors” written on the collar of our jersey.
‘We are with them, and not against them. Unfortunately, we were refused by the Caen management’.
Mbappe bought a majority stake in Caen over the summer for £12.6m via Interconected Ventures, founded by the Real Madrid star, through its investment arm, Coalition Capital.
Caen are a proud club near France’s northern coast with the highest attendance figures in the French second tier, with an average of 15,000 supporters turning up to the Stade Michel-d’Ornano.
Players such as N’Golo Kante, William Gallas, and Thomas Lemar have donned the shirt down the years.
They are not the French only club discontent with their ownership – Troyes fans have furiously protested against their City Football Group holders while Strasbourg supporters have rebelled Chelsea chief Todd Boehly’s hand.
Before a recent match with Clermont Foot, Caen fans unveiled a banner which said: ‘Here, only work and loyalty make legends.’
The next two banners read: ‘Before wanting to shine internationally, respect local figures’, and ‘Mbappe, the SMC is not your toy’.
Mbappe bought a majority stake in the historic club out of his own pocket last summer
Supporters were furious after he sacked club icon Nicolas Seube as the manager, though they are in threat of relegation
Despite the departure of the popular Seube, new boss Bruno Baltazar was not given a bad reception, though a few fans whistled when his name was announced before kick-off.
Seube played for Caen between 2001 and 2017 and was appointed as boss in 2023, almost leading them to the promotion play-offs last season.
Caen scout David Lasry revealed in a BBC documentary that the club had come close to signing Mbappe when the forward was just 13.
Mbappe’s father had reportedly confirmed they had agreed for their son to join the club, who are based in Normandy.
The deal, however, collapsed when Caen were relegated from Ligue 1 to the second tier in 2012.
Mbappe would instead join Monaco’s academy, with the forward later breaking into the first-team set-up before joining PSG.
Fans of Kylian Mbappe’s former club, AS Monaco, in Ligue 2 recently caused chaos by launching a pitch invasion amid the threat of relegation. The fans, who are still passionate about their former star player, sent a clear message to Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe that they are not his ‘toy’.The pitch invasion occurred during a crucial match for AS Monaco, who are fighting to avoid relegation to a lower division. The fans, frustrated with the team’s poor performance, decided to take matters into their own hands by storming the pitch and confronting the players.
In a statement released after the incident, the fans made it clear that they are still loyal to Kylian Mbappe, despite his move to Real Madrid. However, they emphasized that they are not to be taken lightly and will not stand for their club’s poor performance.
The incident has sparked debate among football fans, with some condemning the actions of the AS Monaco fans and others showing support for their passion and dedication to the club. Regardless of the outcome of this incident, one thing is for sure – Kylian Mbappe’s impact on AS Monaco and its fans is still very much alive.

Enzo Maresca praises ‘leader on the pitch’ Cole Palmer | News | Official Site
Head coach Enzo Maresca has praised the development and contribution of Cole Palmer with the Blues’ talisman providing more than just goals and assists.
Palmer’s quality is undoubted. Another special few months for Chelsea’s No. 20 has seen him reach 14 goals and six assists in the Premier League this campaign already, but that’s not what has got Maresca talking.
Instead, the Italian believes the England international has progressed to become a leader on the pitch for the Blues. He points to his performance during our 3-1 victory over Wolves on Monday night where Maresca explains he brought more than just his usual quality around the opposition penalty box.
He opened: ‘Cole is improving a lot, not just in terms of goals and assist numbers, but in the second half against Wolves, it was one of his best moments since he arrived here because he was showing personality, asking for the ball in any moment and in a moment when the team needed.
‘When Liverpool have a problem, Salah is asking for the ball. Arsenal when they have some problem, Odegaard is asking for the ball. And we need that kind of player when we are in a difficult moment.
‘We need a player who is asking for the ball and telling his team-mates, “don’t worry I will be in charge of that”. That kind of personality we have to show in difficult moments and in the second half against Wolves he was top.’
Maresca also believes Palmer’s leadership on the grass helps to raise the level of the players around him.
‘For me, Cole is an important player and a top player for the team and club,’ he continued.
‘His team-mates see him as a top player so at the moment when we have some difficulties and we are looking for the closest one to help us, we need Cole to step forward in that moment.
‘In that moment, in the second-half against Wolves, he showed his team-mate he is a leader inside the pitch.’
Enzo Maresca praises ‘leader on the pitch’ Cole PalmerManchester City U23s manager Enzo Maresca has heaped praise on young midfielder Cole Palmer, hailing him as a “leader on the pitch.”
Palmer, who has been impressing with his performances for the U23s, has caught the eye of Maresca with his maturity and composure on the field.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Maresca said, “Cole is a fantastic talent and a real leader on the pitch. He has shown great maturity beyond his years and has a bright future ahead of him.”
The 19-year-old midfielder has been a standout performer for the U23s this season, showcasing his technical ability, vision, and leadership qualities.
With Maresca’s endorsement, it seems like Palmer is on the right track to potentially breaking into the first team in the near future.
Stay tuned for more updates on Cole Palmer’s progress and his journey to the top with Manchester City.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan sweeps on the first day of the opening Test cricket match against West Indies at Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday. (Photos: AFP)
MULTAN, Pakistan (AFP) — Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan hit unbeaten half-centuries to lead a Pakistan fightback in the first Test against the West Indies on Friday, as the hosts reached 143-4 at the close of a fog-hit opening day.
When bad light in Multan ended play with just 41.3 overs bowled, Shakeel was 56 not out for his ninth half-century and Rizwan was 51 not out for his 11th.
The pair added 97 after coming together, with Pakistan in real trouble at 46-4.
The left-right combination of Shakeel and Rizwan negotiated the three-spinner West Indies attack with aplomb, after fast bowler Jayden Seales initially left the home team struggling.
“This pitch is tough to bat on,” said Rizwan.
“We batted with caution and just took advantage of loose balls. It’s tough to judge what should be a good total but we will target 300 plus.”
Shakeel has so far cracked four boundaries while Rizwan has seven hits to the fence.
The incisive Seales finished the day with 3-21 off 10 overs.
“My aim was to build pressure and get wickets,” Seales said. “I sense spin will play a major role on this pitch going forward.”
Sensing the dry and grassless Multan Stadium pitch will be tricky for batting on the last two days — and with spin set to play a major role — the home team opted to bat after winning the toss.
But play was delayed because of early morning fog compounded by poor air quality, resulting in limited visibility and wiping out the first session.
Both teams started with three spinners and just one front-line fast bowler, and the tourists opened the bowling with left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie alongside Seales.
It was Seales who provided the breakthrough, forcing an edge off debutant Muhammad Hurraira to wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach in the sixth over. Hurraira scored six.
Three overs later, Motie dismissed skipper Shan Masood off a faint edge to the wicketkeeper for 11, before Seales trapped Kamran Ghulam leg before with a sharp incoming delivery for five.
It became 46-4 when Babar Azam edged Seales behind the wicket for eight, continuing a poor run of scores at home for Pakistan’s premier batter.
The two-match series is part of the World Test Championship. Pakistan currently rank eighth and the West Indies ninth and last.
In the ongoing test match between Pakistan and the West Indies, Rizwan cites ‘tough pitch’ as Pakistan recover on a fog-hit day. Despite difficult playing conditions caused by heavy fog, Pakistan managed to make a strong comeback in their first innings after losing early wickets.Captain Mohammad Rizwan played a crucial role in stabilizing the innings, scoring a gritty half-century to lead Pakistan’s recovery. In a post-match interview, Rizwan mentioned that the pitch was challenging to bat on due to uneven bounce and movement off the seam, making it tough for the batsmen to settle in.
Despite the tough conditions, Rizwan praised his team’s resilience and determination to fight back against a strong West Indies bowling attack. He emphasized the importance of partnerships and building a solid foundation for the team to build a competitive total.
As the match progresses, Pakistan will be looking to capitalize on their recovery and put up a strong performance in the remaining days of the test match. Rizwan’s leadership and fighting spirit will be crucial in guiding his team towards a successful outcome in this closely contested match.
