Leggett is a 6-foot-3 senior guard, who is leading the team in scoring at 17.5 points per game. The DMV native has been superb this season in his second campaign with the Pitt program. He is averaging 6.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, as well. Leggett is shooting a career-high 51% from the field and is shooting 33% from three-point range as well.
He averaged 12.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last year in his first year as a Panther. He scored in double figures in each of his first 11 games at Pitt, before going on a five-game streak of not reaching that mark. As Jaland Lowe’s role increased to the point of becoming a starter alongside Bub Carrington for Pitt, Leggett shifted to a sixth-man role, coming off the bench.
He shined in the role that Jeff Capel described as the “sixth starter,” and was recognized with the ACC’s Sixth Man of the Year award following the season.
Leggett began his career at Rhode Island, playing in the Atlantic 10. After averaging 6.6 points per game as a rookie, he increased his statistics in each major category in each of the next two seasons with the Rams. In his third year in the program, he starred for the team, averaging 16.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game — all of which were career highs.
Stay tuned for more updates live from the Petersen Events Center from Wednesday’s game.
Pittsburgh guard Ishmael Leggett will be sidelined for the upcoming game against California due to a lingering injury. Leggett, who has been a key player for the Panthers this season, will be greatly missed on the court.Despite this setback, the team is confident in their depth and ability to step up in Leggett’s absence. They are determined to come together and secure a victory in his honor.
We wish Ishmael Leggett a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the court soon. In the meantime, let’s show our support for the Panthers as they face off against California. #GetWellSoonIshmael #GoPanthers

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reach divorce settlement after bitter EIGHT-YEAR legal battle
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reached a settlement in their divorce, ending a bitter eight-year legal battle.
The Hollywood duo officially signed off on the divorce paperwork on Monday, December 30.
Divorce Lawyer James Simon told DailyMail.com Jolie, 49, is ‘relieved this one part is over.’
‘Frankly, Angelina is exhausted,’ he said.
‘More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.’
While the former power couple have finally settled their divorce, there is still the ongoing case regarding their battle over Chateau Miraval vineyard in France.
The two have been locked in a bitter legal battle over Miraval after Pitt alleged Jolie sold her share of the winery to the Stoli Group without his approval.
Both sides have said they would be willing to take the Miraval case to a jury trial or mediation, a source told Daily Mail.

The couple share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox
A source with knowledge of the situation added Jolie has ‘been trying hard to be light after a dark time.’
‘She doesn’t speak ill of him publicly or privately,’ the insider said.
‘The kids have grown up seeing that some people have so much power and privilege that their voices don’t matter. Their pain doesn’t count.
‘They have wanted her to speak up for herself, to defend herself over these years but she reminds them to focus on changing laws over telling public stories.’
Jolie filed to end the marriage in September of 2016, just two years after tying the knot. They had dated 10 years before they decided to get married.
It has since been alleged that the couple and their six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox, had taken a private plane days prior to her filing in which Pitt had become physically abusive.
He was never charged.
One insider told DailyMail.com ‘she could have pressed charges against him.’

‘She could have told the world what happened, she didn’t. All she wanted was for their children to get the support they needed to heal.
‘Pitt successfully used his power and his privilege to cover up his conduct at his family’s expense and even attempted to paint her as the reason why his relationship is so challenging with the children.’
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Jolie and Pitt were deemed legally single in 2019.
Pitt, now 61, has been dating Los Angeles based jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, 34, for almost two years.
This is a breaking news story. More to come.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Reach Divorce Settlement 8 Years After Filing (Exclusive)
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reached a settlement in their divorce eight years after the Maria star filed to end their two-year marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.
Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 61, signed off on their divorce on Monday, Dec. 30, according to Jolie’s lawyers.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” Jolie’s lawyer James Simon tells PEOPLE in a statement. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
The statement also read that both parties have requested a jury trial lasting 10 to 15 days and have agreed to participate in a settlement conference or mediation session as a form of alternative dispute resolution. In his case management statement, Pitt also agreed to mediation.
A source close to Jolie adds, “She doesn’t speak ill of [Pitt] publicly or privately. She’s been trying hard to be light after a dark time.”
A rep for Pitt declined to confirm or comment.
Jolie filed for dissolution of marriage on Sept. 19, 2016, days after a private plane flight on which she has claimed Pitt was abusive to her and their six children; he was not charged by authorities after investigations at the time and Jolie declined to press charges.
Four months later, the former couple released a joint statement indicating that they reached an agreement to handle their divorce in a private forum, and would keep future details of their divorce confidential by utilizing a private judge.
“The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues,” according to the statement.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie with five of their six children in Hollywood, California, on May 28, 2014.
It concluded, “The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.”
Leading up to the 2017 privacy agreement, Pitt and Jolie had been locked in “strained” divorce negotiations centered on custody issues and trading harsh accusations in filings in Los Angeles Superior Court.
In January 2017, they agreed to seal sensitive records relating to their six children, the majority of whom are now adults: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, now 16.
The exes, who had their divorce bifurcated, were declared legally single in 2019. (Pitt has been dating L.A. jewelry exec Ines de Ramon, 34, since 2022.)
In the following years, the former couple battled over custody as well as legal issues pertaining to the $164 million French estate and winery that they shared, Château Miraval.

Pitt sued Jolie in February 2022 over her sale of her Château Miraval stake, and the Tomb Raider star filed a countersuit in which she stated her ex was “waging a vindictive war against” her.
The lawsuit was filed by Nouvel, a business founded by Jolie. The company claimed that Pitt “masterminded a so-far-successful plan to seize control” of Château Miraval following the couple’s split in 2016.
Of the countersuit, a source close to Pitt told PEOPLE, “This is just the latest in a series of deliberate efforts to misdirect, recycle and reposition the truth of what has happened over the last six years, thinking that reasonable people would be duped by these obvious misrepresentations.”
In a case management statement, Jolie called Pitt’s legal actions “frivolous, malicious and part of a problematic pattern.” The actress is holding firm that she and Pitt did not have “a secret, unwritten, unspoken contract” that required them to ask for consent before selling their shares of Château Miraval.
The statement also read that Jolie has requested a jury trial lasting 10 to 15 days and has agreed to participate in a settlement conference or mediation session as a form of alternative dispute resolution. In his case management statement, Pitt also agreed to mediation.

The pair have continued to fight over Miraval throughout 2024, which is not connected to their divorce proceedings. In November, Jolie scored a legal win when a judge in the case ruled that Pitt must disclose documents, including emails and texts, that Jolie’s lawyer Paul Murphy claims will prove her allegations of abuse against Pitt and “years of cover-up” on his part.
The same month, Pitt also notched his own victory in the winery battle when Jolie’s motions to dismiss the lawsuit were rejected and the case inched closer to trial with potential proof that there was a written agreement between the former couple about selling, which a Pitt source said “demonstrates the legitimacy of his claims.”
His lawyers have called Jolie’s request for the documents “a sensationalist fishing expedition.”
After a long and tumultuous legal battle, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally reached a divorce settlement, eight years after initially filing for divorce.According to exclusive sources, the former Hollywood power couple have come to an agreement on custody of their six children, as well as the division of their assets. The details of the settlement have not been disclosed, but it is believed to be a fair and amicable resolution for both parties.
Pitt and Jolie first announced their separation in 2016, shocking fans around the world. Since then, their divorce proceedings have been marred by accusations of infidelity, substance abuse, and child custody disputes.
Now, with this settlement in place, it seems that Pitt and Jolie can finally move on from their past and focus on co-parenting their children in a healthy and positive environment.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

Toledo, Pitt wrap season in GameAbove Sports Bowl
- The Pittsburgh Panthers, plagued by injuries late in the season, will face the Toledo Rockets in the GameAbove Sports Bowl.
One day after Christmas, Pittsburgh and Toledo meet at Ford Field on Thursday in the GameAbove Sports Bowl, hoping to put a bow on a 2024 season that began with bigger wishes.
The Panthers (7-5) were No. 18 in the initial 2024 College Football Playoff rankings on Nov. 5, three days after suffering their first loss at SMU. However, that 48-25 defeat to the Mustangs was the start of a five-game skid that ran the rest of the regular season.
Injuries plagued Pitt in November. Quarterback Eli Holstein missed the Nov. 16 game against Clemson after suffering a head injury the week prior in the loss to Virginia. The freshman returned to start against Louisville on Nov. 23, but he didn’t make it out of the first quarter after injuring his left ankle. That caused him to miss the last game against Boston College.
Pitt ailing
Several offensive line injuries also affected the team during the skid, and an undisclosed ailment kept Desmond Reid, the Panthers’ second-team All-American all-purpose back, out against Boston College.
“I would imagine on the 26th we’re going to be a heck of a lot healthier than we were coming out of that BC game,” coach Pat Narduzzi said earlier this month. “I promise you that.”
Narduzzi hopes Holstein can play. In 10 games, the signal caller completed nearly 62 percent of his throws for 2,228 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. It could become an issue since Nate Yarnell, who threw for 1,056 yards and 10 TDs with five picks, entered the transfer portal.
David Lynch, who threw just nine passes this season, would back up, Narduzzi said.
Reid ran for 797 yards and four touchdowns and caught 47 passes for 564 yards and four scores. He also averaged 12.3 yards on a dozen punt returns, one of which was returned for a TD. Pitt also has an All-American on defense. Linebacker Kyle Louis registered 16 tackles for loss, including seven sacks. He also picked off four passes, scoring on one.
Rockets have power
The Rockets (7-5), who ended the season with consecutive losses, are bowl bound for the fourth straight season.
Toledo sports the best passing attack in the Mid-American Conference, averaging 246.2 yards a game. Tucker Gleason threw for 2,457 yards and has a 22-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Jerjuan Newton caught 64 passes for 949 yards and a MAC-leading 11 scores. The defense, led by safety Maxen Hook (107 tackles, two interceptions), allows an average of five yards a play. That ranks 27th in the country.
Coach Jason Candle, who is one win away from matching Gary Pinkel for the most victories in school history (73), said at the press conference the game gives the seniors one last chance to celebrate their careers, many of which will end this week, while giving underclassmen additional practices that can pay off next season.
“This is a reward for having a great year,” the ninth-year coach said. “You want to finish it off the right way, and you want to do a great job of balancing what it looks like for the future of your program.
“I think if this is handled the right way, it kind of sets the culture and the tempo for what your offseason starting point is in January or February.”
Toledo and Pitt faced off in the GameAbove Sports Bowl to wrap up their seasons in a thrilling matchup. Both teams gave it their all on the field, but ultimately it was Pitt who came out on top with a narrow victory. The GameAbove Sports Bowl provided a fitting end to the season for both teams, showcasing their talent and determination. Congratulations to Pitt on their win and to both teams for a hard-fought game. Here’s to a successful season and looking forward to what’s to come in the future. #GameAboveSportsBowl #Toledo #Pitt #CollegeFootball

Walk-on David Lynch starts at quarterback for Pitt in GameAbove Sports Bowl
For the second time in its three most recent bowl appearances, Pitt will turn to a third-string quarterback.
David Lynch, a walkon who enrolled in January 2023, will start for the Panthers on Thursday against Toledo in the GameAbove Sports Bowl at Detroit’s Ford Field.
Three years ago, Davis Beville replaced an injured Nick Patti late in the first quarter of the 2021 Peach Bowl against Michigan State. Patti, who injured his shoulder diving for a touchdown, started after Heisman finalist Kenny Pickett opted out to protect himself from injury in advance of the NFL Draft. Beville completed 14 of 18 passes for 149 yards, with a touchdown and interception, in a 31-21 loss to the Spartans.
The Panthers also used a second-string backup in the 2022 Sun Bowl when Patti replaced Kedon Slovis, who had transferred. Pitt hasn’t played a bowl game with its regular starting quarterback since Pickett led a 34-30 victory against Eastern Michigan in the 2019 Quick Lane Bowl.
Lynch (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) gets the call Thursday after Eli Holstein missed the final game of the regular season with a leg injury and No. 1 backup Nate Yarnell transferred. Holstein was not in uniform Thursday, but he was on the Pitt sideline wearing a walking boot on his left leg.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Ty Dieffenbach also transferred, so Lynch’s backup will be freshman Julian Dugger, a Penn Hills graduate who has been with the program since January 2024. Dugger did not appear in any games this season.
Lynch played briefly in the final two games of the season at Louisville and Boston College, completing six of nine passes, with an interception.
A graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Lynch spent the 2022 season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., where the led the team to the National Post-Grad Athletic Association championship, throwing for 1,100 yards and 20 touchdowns. Prior to IMG, he led Bishop Hendricken to a championship in the Interscholastic League State Championship Super Bowl.
Lynch played football, basketball and baseball in high school where he was all-state in basketball, leading Bishop Hendricken to three state championships.
Jerry DiPaola is a TribLive reporter covering Pitt athletics since 2011. A Pittsburgh native, he joined the Trib in 1993, first as a copy editor and page designer in the sports department and later as the Pittsburgh Steelers reporter from 1994-2004. He can be reached at jdipaola@triblive.com.
In a shocking turn of events, walk-on David Lynch has been named the starting quarterback for Pitt in the highly anticipated GameAbove Sports Bowl.Lynch, a relatively unknown player who had never started a game before, impressed the coaching staff with his raw talent and determination during practice leading up to the big game.
Fans are buzzing with excitement and curiosity as they wonder how Lynch will perform under the pressure of such a high-stakes game. Will he rise to the occasion and lead his team to victory, or will the pressure be too much for the inexperienced quarterback?
Stay tuned as we follow Lynch’s journey on the field and see if he can defy the odds and make a name for himself in the world of college football. #GameAboveSportsBowl #DavidLynch #UnderdogStory

Pitt Walk-On QB David Lynch Receiving First College Start
Pitt is starting a walk-on quarterback against Toledo in the GameAbove Sports Bowl.
David Lynch — a 6-foot-3, 215-pound quarterback from East Greenwich, R.I. — is making his first collegiate start with Eli Holstein ruled out and Nate Yarnell exiting via the transfer portal.
Lynch supplanted Ty Dieffenbach as the backup when Holstein missed time earlier this season, making the most of his opportunities in practice.
“When it just came down to the focus every single day in practice and the details, when you get your snaps, you’ve got to make your snaps worthwhile,” Narduzzi said last month during a weekly presser. “And it just seemed like we weren’t getting what we wanted out of Ty right now. And again business decisions. I don’t care if you’re a walk-on or scholarship player. I’d, obviously, love to — I don’t care.
“Go back to Sam Scarton starting at kicker instead of Ben Sauls. Which, we knew Ben was a phenomenal kicker back when he was a freshman, but you’ve got to put it through the yellow uprights. We’re playing the best players. We’re trying to win football games. We felt David gave us the best chance of winning right now.”
Lynch has completed 6-of-9 pass attempts for 46 yards and an interception in two appearances this season. He finished the loss against Louisville for the Panthers and received a couple of snaps as Yarnell was attended to by the training staff in the regular season finale against Boston College.
He initially committed to Pitt as a preferred walk-on before the 2023 season, after he spent a season at IMG Academy for his post-graduate development.
It’s a big opportunity for Lynch, a chance to show the coaching staff — and all of college football — that he’s ready for the moment. He will be backed up by Julian Dugger and walk-on Jake Frantl.
Pitt Walk-On QB David Lynch Receiving First College StartIt’s a dream come true for walk-on quarterback David Lynch as he gets set to make his first college start for the Pitt Panthers. The redshirt freshman has been patiently waiting for his opportunity and now, he’s ready to show what he can do on the field.
Lynch, who had to earn his spot on the team as a walk-on, has impressed coaches and teammates with his work ethic and determination. Despite not being heavily recruited out of high school, Lynch has proven that he belongs on the field with the best of them.
As he prepares to lead the Pitt offense, Lynch is focused and ready to embrace the challenge. He knows that all eyes will be on him as he steps onto the field, but he’s confident in his abilities and trusts in his preparation.
For Lynch, this moment is about more than just football. It’s about perseverance, dedication, and never giving up on your dreams. And as he takes the field for his first college start, he’ll be carrying those values with him every step of the way.
So, be sure to tune in and watch as David Lynch takes the field for the Pitt Panthers in his first college start. It’s sure to be a game to remember.
